I was able to complete the job intended. I actually cut the nose off the upper front in order to sand my kitchen floor in the area where the cabinets overhang a few inches. It was quieter than I expected and easy to load the sand paper. The one drawback was that almost no dust was collected in the small collector bag that came with it, maybe because I messed up the air flow when I cut off the nose, even though I did tap the hole I had created. It also came with an adapter that could be hooked to a vacuum cleaner; I didn't get around to trying that option.dave_dave44

I was looking at a ryobi from home Depot then I found this one on ebay. It looks identical to the ryobi except for the color and the disc sanding table which is heavier aluminum than the ryobi. I bought a harbor freight one for the same price I paid for this WEN and it was absolute junk with a very weak motor and a very thin metal frame. This WEN sander has unstoppable power, heavy gauge metal belt frame and the base is heavy cast iron. It is put together very well by all appearances. My only complaint is very minor and it is that the base sits on 4 cast protrusions instead of rubber feet . Adjustable rubber pads would be nice.eaappliance
Great sander for light to medium work, which is what I was looking for. I've used it for baseboard/trim work, pinewood derby car builds, and other wood crafts. Belt is easy to change/replace too. It comes with a heavy grit belt but I changed it to a medium grit to suit my needs. Not too loud when using it. My shop vac is actually louder than this sander! Overall a great buy. It's a solid unit. Slightly underpowered. Good for crafting and small projects. I'm displeased with the side table for the disc. It mounts quite flimsy and with only one mounting point at the front. No support at the rear. It drops often. If you intend to use the disc part often, I'd shop around. I'm going to build a support. The vacuum port fits a shop vac hose perfectly. Updated review. WOW. This thing is REALLY nice. I had the Makita version for a few years until it was stolen and I needed to replace it. The Makita would jump around, it couldn't sit flat and balance on its own, and would vibrate the heck out of you. The first thing I noticed when I turned this one on was the balance and vibration. It vibrates a little more at the handle, but if you grip it like a palm sander it feels like a pneumatic random orbit. It's so nice. Another thing I noticed was that it has intelligent power output depending on how much pressure you're putting on it. If you put too much pressure on it, it will slow down to an appropriate speed so as not to ruin the workpiece. Also the dust collection chute is quickly removable as it slides into a dovetail on the handle and locks in place, and it's sturdy too. The dust chute on the Makita broke after just a few weeks of use, and while I've dropped this Bosch a couple times already, it's not going anywhere. If you're trying to decide between the bosch and the makita, go with this one. You won’t be disappointed. One thing I will note, however, is the bosch does not come with a systainer type box.jpducky
This sander is great, very well balanced , the fixed dust extraction tube is great. In the direct drive mode it is very aggressive and can remove a lot of material very quickly. I have tried the Festool and did not like the size or the balance of it. I would buy this Bosch again.Mr Creative
I bought this to compare it to the festool 150 rotex as its 1/2 the price. Its about the same in ergonomics. The dust collection does a good job! The bosch is definitely louder than the festool. The motor strength is lacking. When i push down hard to say sand out a nick the motor goes into like a limp mode and i have to either lift it off of the material for it to go back to full speed or turn it off and then back on. I definitely dont see this one lasting as long as the festool tho. But if your not using it daily like me it will be great!Izacks_r_and_r

Give this sander a chance! I picked up this little sander five years ago and it has handled my small odd jobs very competently. Have never needed to replace the hook & loop pad in that time (unlike with other sanders I’ve used; looking at YOU, brand that rhymes with "Bill"…). A lone gripe is that the dust collector is held on by a tension-fit rubber ring, so if you bump it the thing goes flying. However, it catches a good quantity of the sawdust. THEN I got the bright idea to refinish my floor. Don’t worry, I rented a drum & edge sander for the bulk stripping of paint and finish – I’m not completely nuts. But I had to do some patching and only sanded up to an 80 grit with the rentals, and I was too cheap to rent the big guns a second time. So, I turned to my trusty Ryobi. In the course of this big project, my Ryobi was a CHAMP. It did 3-4 passes of my nearly 900 square feet of floor. I hooked it up to my shop vac for extra dust collection, but otherwise it was all the Ryobi. I had no business using this little sander to do a floor, but it powered through and is still going strong. When (if) it ever dies, I wouldn’t even think of getting a different sander. Great tool but the dust bag sprung a leak on the first day of using it to sand my deck. I don't remember snagging it on anything but now the dust blows through the hole until there's enough in there to clog the hole up. Probably could just tape it up but it's a little disappointing.Steve B

I really like this orbit sander. I've been using it for about 5 years now and it is still going just as strong as ever with no issues. The size is great – I have somewhat smaller hands for a man and have no problems using it. Vibration is minimal so it is comfortable to use for longer periods of time. Hook and loop system hasn't worn a bit. Overall, this tool does exactly what it's supposed to do and it does it well. My only complaint – and my reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 – is that the dust containment leaves a bit to be desired. Yes, there's a collection port and a collection bag on the port. With just the bag attached, you're going to have a big mess on your hands anyway. You definitely need to hook up to a vacuum if you're using indoors. Even with a vac, things can still get a bit messy. But the bag doesn't do much at all. Again, it's a very small complaint in the bigger scheme of things. The tool itself is top quality and a workhorse at that. I'd absolutely buy again and would (and have) recommend to friends.cn2092
This sander is the top of the line! I have been using it for about 4 years and haven’t had any issues with it! The dust port collects a lot of dust not 100% though! The H&L pad got a little worn down on the edges and the Velcro stoped working. Dewalt was kind enough to send me a new pad with no hassle! Still till this day running like it’s new! They didn’t have the variable speed option when I purchased mine or I would have purchased that one. Maybe down the road I will get a upgrade. I use gator finishes, sanding products on my sander and they are great! Make sure to check them out! If your looking at getting a sander i would recommend your get this one or variable speed by dewalt!
Bought this for a few wood projects and haven't looked back since. Its been durable, powerful and the hook & loop pad has lasted great! The dust collector also works fantastic. If I had to complain my only thing is it hums fairly loudly but that's from the powerful motor and fans it has. Typically, I used the square sanders of days past and this is at least 5X more efficient, if not more. I was recommended this from a fellow at the hardware store because of the efficiency and was skeptical… not anymore though! Also has worked great for body work, as I share a shop and my friend has been using it for some of his restoration work. I personally would recommend this over the battery operated ones. I do alot of refurbishing projects this sander was the perfect tool to have. The sander has a round pointed tip that easily gets into those intricate areas. I do a lot of restorations, and sometimes you need just the right tool. This detail sander, well, it does a great job of sanding in small spaces. Having a battery means real mobility, and getting into small spaces. Purchased this Wen sander to sand the ceilings in my home, after removing the popcorn ceilings and applying joint compound. I love this tool. It makes the job of sanding ceilings much easier, much quicker, and with the dustless hose attached to a Shop Vac, about 90 percent of the sheetrock dust is captured by the Shop Vac! The sanding disks are easy to change, and the tool comes with an extension handle. The motor is variable speed and has lots of torque. I am so glad I don't have to spend hours removing sheetrock dust from every nook and cranny in my home after sanding!ropo67
This sander is well built and easy to use, slower speeds seem to work well with 120 grit sandpaper, I haven't tried at the higher speed settings yet. The hose will not directly fit on my shop vac and it comes with an adaptor that doesn't seem like it fits anything, however a 1-1/2" x 2" rubber fernco plumbing fitting from the hardware store works perfectly to get it connected. Works great and almost all the dust goes into the vac instead of into the room, you will want to use a dust bag in the shop vac instead of just the filter though. I've owned a woodworking shop. I've owned many sanders. This is meant for quick, non cordless jobs and it helps to have several batteries. It's great for woodworking on the fly. It's not meant to do long sanding jobs where you have a plug nearby and it's good for getting in places when you are in awkward places and don't want a cord hanging across your face. I find it a bit awkward to hold as the battery takes up space where the cord usually is, but as I said, I see this more of a specialty tool than a standard one.KyleinCanada
I own a lot of Black and Decker 20V MAX tools, so I was happy to find this orbital sander that comes with yet another battery and can use the batteries I already have. Unfortunately this model doesn't seem to be that easy to find at most retailers; I'm not sure why because it's a good one. The sander works well. It comes with two sanding pads to get you started (these are hook-and-loop style, with 8 holes). The suction works well and puts a fairly large percentage of the dust into the little attached bag. Of course, you still need to have dust management in your workspace, but it reduces the mess significantly. The ergonomics are fine…pretty much what you expect for an orbital sander. The battery adds some bulk when compared with corded ones, but of course it's very convenient to not have the cord to worry about. I wouldn't say it's particularly long-lasting or powerful, but it gets the job done. Actually, the long-lasting part appears to be a choice on the part of Black and Decker. They make 20V MAX batteries with much larger and more capacious than the ones that comes on the power tools. You can get them if you buy their yardwork equipment. For example, an electric weed-whacker. They are all compatible so you can get much longer work time if you use one of those. What I really have is a bunch of batteries all in chargers that I switch out whenever I run out. If I was a full-time woodworker I would use a corded sander, but this is great for the weekend warrior.Grant

After 30+ hours of usage I can say that this sander is unlike any other. I have used Bosch and DeWalt sanders ranging from the cheapest to the most expensive and I have always hated sanding, but not anymore. This sander is low vibration and very lightweight, plus the low profile really helps the sander stay completely flat on the surface. Other sanders are much taller and I often get uneven results because they're almost top heavy, but the Mirka just glides across the wood and leaves a perfectly flat surface, even after several grit changes. Note, my first unit jumped all over the place (much like my DeWalt), but Acme very quickly and graciously exchanged it for me and the new unit is super smooth. Also note, at first I wasn't realizing the true benefits of this sander, but for some reason I decided to use one of my Bosch sanders for a while and when I went back to the Mirka I felt like I was in heaven. So if you're not thrilled at first, do your own comparison and you'll know right away if you made the right choice.KRV

Works well for getting into corners as intended. I bought it to sand the inside surfaces of a shelving unit a few weeks ago and it made the job so much easier than my oscillating tool. I have a bunch of Ryobi One+ tools and all of them seem to be good quality so far. The big problem with this tool is the lack of a dust bag and place to attach a vacuum. Apparently there is an optional piece you can buy if you can find it. I haven't looked extensively yet, but I feel this should come with the tool as is does with their other sanders.Bill H
Be aware Canadians! Unfortunately the sandpapers and the dust attachment is not sold in Canada (only US). So I don't understand the logic why Home Depot is selling the power tool in Canada. I bought this sander for ~$20 on Amazon and found it was a very good sander for that price. Many people have talked about the 'pre-punched' paper but I've had good luck with normal sheets cut into quarters. I found it fits fine in the clamps and is very similar to all other sanders in its class. It comes with a plastic plate to punch holes in the sand paper if you want it to suck up the dust. Honestly, all sanders make lots of dust and you should sand where dust doesn't matter. There's no sander in this price range w/o a vacuum attached that catches all the dust.Turlo Fiddleworth

I bought this tool a month ago after using the PC7800 for 21 years. It’s unbelievable when it comes to suction and really slick how it activates the HEPA vacuum. My PC7800 was paired to my PC tool triggered dust extractor, but that was all corded. Absolutely great piece of technology. i want to start by saying I'm kinda of a dewalt guy. This is the first tool I've purchased from the company i was disappointed in. Watching reviews the dust management seemed to work as well if not better then other drywall sanders on the market. However this tool does NOT ship with the same parts as it was reviewed with. In the reviews it uses a hard pad to mount the sandpaper or mesh to, the hard pad is covered in holes for the dust to be sucked through. As shipped with the soft foam pad dust management is crippled. if your not going to use a dust extractor, maybe it doesn't matter to you, but dust mangment doesn't work in the state it is shipped. To top it off the part numbers they give for the hard pad doesn't come up anywhere DWE7802 ? Why Dewalt?jman

I used to have a Delta sander with a 9” disk and 6” wide belt sander. It was a heavy beast but a work horse. How could these bench tops compete? Reviews of similar models were varied. I finally visited my local HD and looked over the unit. I was pleased that the belt rollers were metal – not plastic like a different brand. Made the purchase. Set up was a breeze with only a few items needing to be screwed on. The belt was already installed. The disc pad was supplied – both 80 grit. A hex key was included in the parts bags. I just needed a Philips screwdriver to put things together. If the dust catcher is removed, any size piece can be used on the belt sander. The dust catcher is held on by 2 screws. Changing the belt is a breeze and I found the tracking of the belt was rock solid. Loving my purchase so far.PD77
Picked up the product today and set it up – flicked the switch and heard the motor try to turn the belt/disc but it couldn’t produce movement. We removed the cover for the motor and it wasn’t turning. What a mess. When you look further – the machining of the device is shoddy – screws off centre, nuts hit the device when being tightened. Good news, bad news. The device is fine. The dust bag doesn't do a lot, but it kinda works. Better than no dust bag at all. As for the sandpaper, argh. The sandpaper has to have holes in it at predetermined points to allow the dust to get sucked into the dust bag. Fine. The machine comes with a few pieces of pre-punched sandpaper, but oops–the holes are punched 90 degrees out of phase, meaning you can't, cannot clip the sandpaper onto the sanding face and still line up the holes. Be sure to buy a pack of stick-on sandpaper, which works great. Don't be spooked by the manual for a cordless sander that comes with this, uh, corded sander.Sceptisaur
Good tool for drywall sanding when hooked up to powerful 6.5hp shopvac. It produced almost no dust this way and makes sanding a lot of drywall easy work. Its easy to load new sand paper onto it and overall I have no complaints. If you can get this on sale its a good purchase.BramptonBoy
Bought this a year ago for a small job, burned through sandpaper like crazy. Foam pad on the bottom wore extremely fast and the clips never seemed to hold the paper well. Went to use it for another job about 4 months later and the bearings in the motor went. I was told I could take it to a service center 2 hours away as the 90 days were up. Not worth my time or gas to get this fixed. Worst sander I have ever used, I'll never purchase another Ryobi tool.Bear and Bark

I am sanding and repainting a wooden gazebo we built 15 years ago. We have taken out the screens and trim so we could sand down the frame and re-paint the whole thing. None of the sanders we had would fit between the slats of the 2” X 3”s that run all the way around on all sides halfway up. This sander will fit in those tight spaces right into the corners. We couldn’t manage without. It will take paint off right down to the wood. The Diablo sandpaper that fits works very well. I have not noticed the heat problem that others have noticed but the adhesive sandpaper appears to be the same adhesive that holds the sanding pad on. After replacing the sandpaper a couple of times, the sanding pad starts to peel off. I am surprised at such an obvious defect and intend to write to Ryobi to see if there is a fix.Country Gentleman
