As much as I would like to recommend this skillet, I cannot. I love to use an electric skillet for everything from simple breakfasts to more extravegant meals and have been doing so since I left home 40 plus years ago. While this skillet is beautiful and the non stick coating is excellent that is as good as it gets. The control is poorly marked for precise temperatures but thats okay since it can't hold any temperature you set anyway. You are forced to constantly adjust the controller to a higher temp to get the heat back up. The oval shape makes it hard to poor anything out such as oil or graveys. Overall save your money with a good Presto brand skillet and with the money you save buy a Quisinart waffle iron, thosee work well.DonL

The skillet is nice looking (stainless steel?). We ordered it in the store, sight unseen. The clerk told us that it was a large size, but we had no idea how large it really is or how heavy it is. My right hand now has been very sore, feeling like it is sprained, for several days…after washing and rinsing the skillet. We have a divided sink and it's a real chore trying to get the skillet washed, and even harder to rinse it off. We already have a Zojirushi rice cooker and bread maker, and this Zojirushi-branded electric skillet did not disappoint. My favorite feature is the removable pot…it makes clean-up a breeze without having to worry about getting the electronic parts wet (or soapy). Safety-wise, the removeable electric cord is magnetically attached. We already had an instance where someone tripped on the cord, and it harmlessly detached without the unit being dragged off the table or the person falling down. The skillet heats water up quickly and is simple to operate with an analog slider. It's also large enough for our family of five to enjoy hot pot dinners. Before I purchased this, I made sure that it would fit in my storage cupboard: it is quite large. The reason that I decided to go ahead, after confirming that it would fit, was because it is one of the very few cookers of its type that heats up almost to 500F, and I needed the circumference to make crepes and injera. Although it is not my go-to appliance for crepes, it does fit the bill for flatbread. Amazing! Now, on to other uses. The shallow pan is great for browning potatoes & here's the trick: this appliance comes with a steamer tray, so if you want to do your entire batch of spicy crisp potatoes in one place, just steam the cut up potatoes in the deep dish with the tray, then transfer the cooked potatoes to a bowl, season, and throw them back into the shallow tray to brown. Works perfectly. The deep pan is fabulous for assembling a soup & cooking it for as long as you need. Two caveats: be sure to save the styrofoam ring that comes with the packaging–it works as a protector against scratching the deep bowl while stored. Also, although somewhat awkward, removing the steamer tray with food on it can be accomplished by inserting a chopstick into the large hole on the perimeter; raise it slowly, and then grab the edge with an oven glove. As far as sauteing in the Zoji, I don't know what would keep you from trying that. Use a silicone implement, high heat. Not seeing a downside, but I could be wrong. Of course I'm not one to follow silly advice that might be just a misunderstanding of what you want to do. Obviously, a lot of oil or deep frying probably not a good idea.jeste
I think it is a well designed and practical product, easy to use for table cooking or kitchen use for a variety of dishes, Asian and European. Pricey, but the best electric skillet I've used. Two cooking plates, one of which you can place on your stove top to brown meats, etc. then place directly onto your electric skillet unit to slow cook. Eliminates all of the mess you get from browning using the electric skillet for both heat sources. Easy to use features. Takes less heat (cooking setting is lower) than standard skillets and heat is more even – I suspect because of ceramic in lieu of aluminum or stainless steel construction. You can also turn the heat up higher than conventional skillets (480 f). Very versitle; you can cook a pot roast, asian foods, soups, and everything in between as well as steam vegetables while you cook (using both plates simultaneously). I hardly ever recommend anything but make an exception in this case as I know recommending this product will preserve my reputation. I am very unhappy with my purchase. The Omni cooker promises to make cooking fast and easy but that is not my experience at all. Unfortunately the information given on the site about how complicated it is, and how the temperatures given in the instruction book and recipe book are not borne out by reality. For example: Soup: the instructions say "when cooking soup it's important not to over cook your ingredients on a high heat. That's where soup mode comes in…" So referring to the recipe book, under Soup, it says "choose the sear/saute setting…saute the coarsely chopped onion". My experience of doing this was that the onion either burned or if turned down to a lower temperature, didnt cook properly. Adding vegetables as directed in the recipe book meant they either burned too or didnt cook – this is prior to adding the liquid. I then tried the recipe in the book for French Onion Soup. The onions did not caramelise at all after 40 mins, and indeed did not soften completely either. Also, in the recipe, it states "Select Soup Mode…set the temperature to 100C". But the cooker doesn't allow that – you can either set it to 90 or 105, not 100. So this product does not cut down the cooking time, nor does it allow any flexibility. It's fiddly, complicated and a huge disappointment. I have 5 Greenpan products which I am very happy with – two frying pans, a wok and two saucepans, but this product has not delivered for me at all.Dezzeau
I was so excited to get this but what a disappointment..The temperature control is not good if you are a cook and want to select a temperature.. The simmer feature is horrible. 185 is the perfect temp but it doesn't allow you to get to that. You can get 180 or 190. I made beef stew and it mostly boiled. I had to put it in the dutch oven on the stove to finish it. Also the searing setting is insufficient. I would like to return it.gussgirl
I adore this Smart Skillet—especially the sear function. It's also great on a higher heat to reduce sauces. A couple things need improvement: the lid handle gets hot (that should be an easy design fix), and the non-stick interior pot has no handles (which it should have)—so be sure to let it cool in the base which will take longer than if it was safe and easy to remove while hot (it's not). Also, the pan can get very hot—be careful when removing the lid as there can be a lot of steam. So, generally a win but Green Pan could do a little better design-wise. I'm a loyal Green Pan gal!MePt

I love the way this electric skillet works. Heats quickly and evenly, is just the right size and is easy to store. The manual says it can be put in the dishwasher. DON'T DO IT!! I did and the bottom of the skillet turns a grey color and rubs off on anything that touches it. This grey/black film stains your dish cloths and towels and has to be washed off your hands with soap and water. I called Presto and learned that somewhere in the entire manual it says this might happen and that it WILL stain clothing or kitchen linens. I told the Presto rep it was unconscionable for them to say it can go in the dishwasher if it comes out and dirties and stains whatever touches the bottom of the skillet. Buyer beware!!Linda
I am so happy I chose this skillet. They did not have this at my local walmart but after reading the reviews I thought it would be worth the wait. I Ordered it online and picked up at my local store for free less than a week later. I have had it for a couple of weeks. The non stick surface is great and makes for very easy cleaning. The heating is uniform. It warms up quickly and also cools off quickly. I have made eggs, pancakes, fried chicken, and cooked pasta. I just ordered the baking rack. I cant wait to get it and bake some cookies!! If i had to say something negative I would say that the legs are slick and tend to slide around a bit when you're cooking, but Overall great product!!Sylvia
This Presto 06850 16-inch Electric Skillet is a decent skillet for the money. I use it frequently for many cooking tasks and it has performed well. The skillet itself is non stick which makes it fairly easy to clean. I also like the fact that it is a large skillet – 16 inches – as compared to the standard 12 inch skillet. That makes large recipe preparation much simpler and less messy as there is enough room to handle all of the ingredients as well as all of the stirring and mixing necessary. One of the downsides to this product is the short cord which requires you to have a cooking surface near an outlet. I can see where this would be inconvenient or undoable in some kitchens. The other downside is the non stick surface itself. No matter how careful we have been it wears off and the skillet begins to become difficult to clean. We have had three of these skillets and have taken good care of them but the same thing happens every time. It is not an inexpensive skillet so it does become frustrating. However, we have been taking really good care of the one we are currently using and it seems to be lasting quite well. Overall, though, this is a good product, well worth having in your kitchen.annefrommichigan

The Toastmaster Skillet is great to have at your home, camper, office, or anywhere you want to cook or warm food up. The 12” size is a great size for many families to cook a lot of food in. It’s also very deep so you can add a lot of food to the skillet. It is nonstick, and I still add cooking spray before I use this just in case. The food cooks evenly and quickly. You can adjust your temperature of the dial probe it comes with. Easy to use and easy to cook your food. Cleaning up is very quick and simple. I am in love with the toastmaster electric skillet. I love how easy it is to use and clean and that it heats up quick when time to cook food. This skillet would be great to use during a camping treat because it's light and easy to transport. When I used it to cook I was expecting it take at least five minutes to warm up but it was maybe only a minute so it works great when I am trying to fix a quick meal and not wanting to wait long. I 100% would recommend this skillet to anyone whether it be for in home use or for travel.Momof5
I love using electric skillets for large, one-pan meals. It is a lot simpler than heating up the stove. I've tried quite a few electric skillets, and this is a great option. It is sturdy and doesn't take up a lot of space. It heats up fast I've found that it cooks food evenly. I love how easy it is to wipe clean. I have used this skillet several times now. I love the size and I love how well the stainless steel cooks and cleans. I am having an issue with the cord. It does not fit into the skillet properly and disconnects easily; while cooking I must constantly check that the prong is plugged into the pan, otherwise I loose my heat. I have recently contacted Cucina Pro and am trying to get the problem resolved.Sharon

I broke the lid to my GZ skillet while on vacation. I called Dash and they sent me a lid, which I very much appreciate. The problem with this lid is that when the rubber gasket off of that lid comes off, it takes me 2 hours to get it back on. Anybody have any ideas on a quicker way to get that rubber seal back on?C.
The electric skillet is amazing. The handle to the glass lid is attached to a plastic piece, which has cracked and split after two uses. Otherwise, no complaints. I am in the middle of a kitchen remodel and I use from everything to; boiling raviolis, frying meat, cooking rice, and even tamales.

As much as I would like to recommend this skillet, I cannot. I love to use an electric skillet for everything from simple breakfasts to more extravegant meals and have been doing so since I left home 40 plus years ago. While this skillet is beautiful and the non stick coating is excellent that is as good as it gets. The control is poorly marked for precise temperatures but thats okay since it can't hold any temperature you set anyway. You are forced to constantly adjust the controller to a higher temp to get the heat back up. The oval shape makes it hard to poor anything out such as oil or graveys. Overall save your money with a good Presto brand skillet and with the money you save buy a Quisinart waffle iron, thosee work well.DonL
Wonderful, well made electric skillet. My first large electric was purchased in 2012 and was used frequently with very satisfying results. I purchased another one of these excellent skillets in 2020 because a disrespectful friend scrated my first skillet. Since being so pleased with the first purchase the decision to replace with another Cuisinart skillet was a very clear choice. The skillet is nice looking (stainless steel?). We ordered it in the store, sight unseen. The clerk told us that it was a large size, but we had no idea how large it really is or how heavy it is. My right hand now has been very sore, feeling like it is sprained, for several days…after washing and rinsing the skillet. We have a divided sink and it's a real chore trying to get the skillet washed, and even harder to rinse it off. I wish we could trade it in for a smaller skillet………do you have a smaller electric skillet?BB&B Customer

I'm not one to review, but I can't help myself with this product. It's the BEST. My mom loved her electric skillet and used it all the time. I used mine occasionally, usually preferring a crock pot. I think browning meats and veggies adds a lot of flavor to dishes. And with this electric skillet, everything browns beautifully without sticking. And clean up is a breeze (it's even fully submersible). Some reviews indicate that there is no lower temperature settings. NOT TRUE! There is a huge stay warm region on the thermostat dial, and you can dial it down to where is barely melts butter or turn it up to a screaming sear and everywhere in between. Another thing I love is the clear top. It's great seeing what you're creating without losing all the heat! And I have to admit, this skillet even LOOKS good. Very nicely designed. Slick-er-ree = Slick and Slippery. This Bella 12×12 ceramic black electric skillet rocks. I literally was chasing my hamburgers around the skillet with the spatula. I've never had a nonstick surface this slick. This is my first time with a ceramic coating. It appears silver initially. But when you get it in the light it looks like an opal, with flecks of pink and blue, all through the surface coating. It heats evenly and quickly. I love the glass lid. Makes it so easy to see the cooking process without lifting the lid. It has a maximum temp of 400° and stay warm setting. It's dishwasher safe and completely immersible. I have chosen to hand wash my Bella only. I am certainly surprised by this skillet. I've had electric skillets since way back. Those non-stick, with the aluminum painted lids that you couldn't see through. This Bella is definitely modern technology. It definitely serves my cooking purposes and is the perfect size for cooking for two. I had mine shipped to the store. It came boxed with a styrofoam foam fitted frame. Each piece included was wrapped in plastic and taped securely. It comes with a warranty card and a multi-language care and instruction booklet. Yes, I'm happy with this purchase. It is the cutest little electric skillet I have ever owned. It is very lightweight and nonstick. I really love how fast it heats up, almost immediately. I used it to fry eggs on my first day of using it and let me say in less than 2 minutes the eggs were done. It is such a reliable skillet for small quick meals. I am in love with it. It is very easy to clean. All I use is a wet cloth and there you go. clean like new. Received the product in great shape and I have already used it several times. It is MOST definitely perfect for ONE person. Was able to fry a nice size chicken breast with no issues whatsoever. Was great for breakfast (had to cut the bacon in half to fit) and two eggs worked out well. Also used it for frying potatoes and they came out perfect. Clean up was a snap. The reason I am giving it a "average" (3 star) rating is the useless heat control. Instead of temperatures (which the book suggest it has) it has a range of 1-5 so you have no idea what temperature you're cooking at. While it does heat up fast it does NOT control the cooking temperature very well at all. The recovering time is pathetic. So it is truly a "hit and miss" situation. However, due to the size and ease of cleaning I am simply going to learn to deal with this shortcoming because I think I can make it work for me. However, if you have an issue with heating accuracy it will NOT work for you. Therefore I would not recommend this to a friend simply because of the heat control issue(s).BobInDenver
This skillet worked perfectly for me. I plugged it in, set the temp for 325degrees and put my single meal in the pan. The pan worked as well as a full sized elec skillet and heated my food in about 5 minutes. I bought this to take to camp (camp food is either not good or there's not enough for everyone when it is good). The skillet looks small but is actually 8" across (glad I didn't order the 6" skillet). The skillet was easy to clean and goes easily back in the box, which has a carry handle. I was going to buy a hot plate and small fry pan, but the diffence in price was crazy! So this was a great purchase for me: in one small package I have a means for heating food. Had I gone for the hot plate and pan, it would take up a LOT more space.Patricia

Well, the lesson of fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me is appropriate here because I bought this pan twice, and the heating element burned out before a year’s use both times! I loved this pan – when it worked. But it couldn’t even last a year before it died both times. Will never never never buy this pan again, and I advise anyone else to skip it too.Kris
Good so far!! haven't had it a long time but if it holds up as good as my other starfrit stuff then I'll be happy. Best non stick I've tried hands down. The copper colored stuff didn't work for me. I love this. Can use it like a flat top grill, and fryer! I've done them both on this. I cooked in a restaurant and wanted something similar to a flat top and little frying capabilities.
