I received this product for free as part of a product test. I have been a big fan of Phillips Sonicare products for over a decade. Their innovative technology allows the users of their electric toothbrushes to much more effectively remove sticky disease-causing plaque than manual toothbrushes. If you use their products your teeth will feel really clean and you will notice a significant difference in the effectiveness of your daily oral health regimen. This toothbrush is simple and easy to use. Unlike the more superior and more expensive DiamondClean model which has several different settings for vibration intensity, this model has only one setting. A simple on and off switch power on the toothbrush which will stop after an interval of several minutes to prevent over brushing. Phillips makes different varieties of toothbrush tips which vary in their bristle length and texture. This model fits every tip (of which I own several) of Phillips tips which is very convenient if you want to try out different tips to see which one you like the best. The toothbrush is charged very quickly from a simple power base which you plug in a standard outlet. The full charge lasts for quite a long time (usually a week). Overall, this toothbrush is a good starter model if you want to try out using an electric toothbrush from Phillips. The more advanced models like the Diamondclean have many more options and settings but they are also priced at a premium.Andy1989
On opening the box it is apparent that this is an entry level electric toothbrush designed to encourage people to make the move from their old manual brushes. The equipment supplied is basic and simple but not ugly or unattractive. There is only one brush head supplied but this should be sufficient for a couple of months worth of cleaning. Setting up the brush was simple and the head attaches to the body with no fuss although it should be noted that the two parts do not sit flush against one another as you might expect. The unit charges reasonably quickly and is ready to use shortly although a full charge does take a longer period. When brushing the Daily Clean 1100 encourages you to pay proper attention to the time spent on your teeth. The system runs for two minutes from activation and emits a small pulse every thirty seconds when it is time to change brushing zone. I felt this was a positive aspect in ensuring a good dental hygiene routine was created. Unlike other electric toothbrushes, which tend to have circular oscillating brushes, the Daily Clean 1100 has a lozenge shaped brush which closely resembles a traditional toothbrush. The difference between the shapes of the brushes allows for the Daily Clean to hum (or vibrate at a high frequency) rather than spin and turn. Unfortunately, I find the sensation of the Daily Clean to be a little uncomfortable as the vibrations go through my whole jaw. However, there's no denying that my teeth have never felt cleaner and I will attempt to persevere in the hope that I get used to the sensation. I feel this is a good product and is a worthwhile purchase for anyone wanting to enter the electric toothbrush market. I’ve recently replaced my existing Sonicare toothbrush with this model. It is attractive in appearance and comes in pink. Whilst it doesn’t have all the features of the more expensive models, it has everything which I need to give my teeth an excellent clean. It has a small two-pin charger so you will need to purchase an adapter. It has a battery life of 2 weeks so I plan to charge it on 1st and 15th of each month. WOW I drink coffee, tea, and smoke occasionally. My teeth were starting to show it. Soent so much money on whitening toothpaste and strips with eh so so results. first use and I was shocked and amazed at the difference. Using Colgate Total with charcoal toothpaste as well. It does tickle my upper teeth and its so quiet in operation. You guys I have found a toothbrush that works well for me to be honest I bought it on clearance because I really got tired of my Old toothbrush with a circle head.. I just felt like it never brushed my teeth properly, and they still felt dirty. Now the gleem toothbrush is perfectly slim for my small hands, feels very elegant and well designed! I feel like my teeth are always brushed so well as if I just left the dentist. There are only two setting for speed and im 100% ok with that because I hate brushes that have like 6 and I only use one of them. So the rest I feel are pointless. Before this, I had gotten used to a power toothbrush and the positive results were showing at the dentist. But I didn't like having a toothbrush and its cord sit on the bathroom counter. Five years ago, when I had to travel to a country with different voltage, my hygienist recommended this and I love it! It's the only one I use now. I use rechargeable batteries, just 2, and have 2 charged spare batteries on hand. For me, the batteries last a good 2-3 months before they need re-charging. I can put the toothbrush out of sight and I can toss it in bag take it anywhere: even places where there is no electricity. And If the power goes out, I can still use it. I'm rating the DiamondClean as a 3 because I've owned 3 in the last 5 years. I'm a long time user of Sonicare toothbrushes (at least 20 years); We used to use another brand and the Sonicare toothbrush is far superior and my dentist is always complementing my teeth and gum health. My first experience was the e series – expensive replacement brushes, bulky…Then My husband bought the next series – not sure which it was but I used it for 10~15 years; the handle grip rubber started to peel off..so My husband bought me the DiamondClean; black, sleek, sexy, came with a glass charger and a travel charger kit – Loved it however after only 1.5 years of use the tip started to wobble; I called Sonicare and they sent me a replacement – I was happy for about 2 more years – then a few months ago, It just stopped working. I'm not sure why, my guess is the lithium ion rechargeable battery wore out. (I read on line lithium ion rechargeable batteries last about 5 years – mine lasted only 2) I called Sonicare and they told me my warrenty would not be honered on the replacement date and the origional purchase date was out of warrently. They gave me a 15% off coupon however when I went to their website I saw there was a 15% off sitewide so my special coupon did not seem very special. I was so unhappy, the idea of spending so much for another sonicare toothbrush (plus the cost for additional replacement heads every 3 months) seemed irresponsible; not to mention…brushing manually made me feel really spoiled. To my surprise, my husband bought me a new DiamondClean classic edition toothbrush for my birthday. I could not be happier; I tore open the box and ran to plug it in to start charging it…I also registered it right away – a 2.5 year warranty. Technically speaking the idea of spending so much every 2.5 years – really seems excessive. My big question to Sonicare is, what was wrong with the first rechargeable battery that lasted 10+ years. My 2nd question is; why not make it easy to replace the darn lithum ion rechargeable battery or at the very least provide a replacement battery service. Clearly, the Sonicare toothbrush is one of the best brushing experiences anyone will have. Why not make the product experience just as nice; or extend the warranty to 5 years. I was so on the fence; already searching for a competitor product that might last longer. I love how clean my teeth feel after using. I was having tremor issues using a manual toothbrush and decided to try an electric toothbrush. My dentist recommended Sonicare. Does take a bit of getting used to buzzing sound and sensation, unlike manual brush. And, unlike the directions, it took longer than 24 hours the first time for the charging light to stop blinking. I do think the glass charger is a bit over the top–a simple base would have been adequate. However, I love that I was able to obtain a charging carry case for trips away from home. I have had my for probably ten years now. Previously I had been using an older Sonicare, and I’m definitely going to buy another once this one stops working. I get compliments on my oral hygiene from the dental hygienist, which is nice. The more time you spend taking care of your teeth, the less time you have to spend in the dentist chair! The vibration from the Sonicare helps to remove debris from my teeth as well as partially in between my teeth. And that same vibration helps stop a bad habit I have with regular toothbrushes: pressing too hard on my teeth when brushing. You can’t do that with a Sonicare because the vibration from the brush head on your teeth is downright unpleasant. The battery on my Sonicare lasts forever and it charges back up quickly. Our whole family has used these brushes (husband, myself and kids ages 7, 5 and 3). We REALLY wanted to love them but after a couple of years, we've decided to cancel our subscription. Pros: Love the 2 minute timer and fun colors, especially for the kids – it encourages them to brush. The design is simple and appealing, it looks nice stuck to the mirror (love that feature) and isn't tacky/gaudy like the mainstream brands. It's a nice size and easy to travel with. The subscription makes remembering to change your brush out so easy, practically effortless. Cons: When it comes to actually doing the main job of keeping our teeth clean, we have been pretty disappointed. I never felt like I could get my teeth clean with this brush. Like maybe the vibrations are quite strong enough or the bristles don't quite reach every nook and cranny. The motors would randomly stop working mid brush for no apparent reason and sometimes not restart. My husband's randomly turns on by itself at all hours of the day/night, the motor in my daughter's had to be replaced within a couple of months because it quit working altogether. Every time I changed the brushes, the inside was SO gross and it accumulated quickly inside the case too (which was really hard to clean). Sorry to say we will be leaving the Quip family after giving it a good honest, tried and true chance. We've just had nothing but troubles with these brushes and are less than impressed with the product. The customer service has always been great, but the product is just not quite there.Emily S.
We got Quip after moving to Washington in February of 2019. We picked two up at Target as they were only $35 apiece. For almost a year they worked fine. We had no mechanical issues with the toothbrushes, the vibrations are strong, at first, and the brush did get me into a better habit of not just spending 30 seconds on my entire mouth. When you get your brush heads and battery after three months the first issues are noticeable. The toothbrush vibrations degrade over time as after inserting a new battery the vibrations were three times as strong. This is not a good thing. This also means cleaning quality degrades over time. I also don't like that they send disposable batteries. This is very wasteful and bad for the environment. The toothbrush holders are useless as, yes they do stick to mirrors as the reusable sticky back works, but they aren't vented enough and mildew and odors grow inside despite thoroughly cleaning my brush before putting it in. I have the holder mounted upside down so water won't pool inside, but that didn't help. The only option was ditching it or sanitizing my brush head with ISA which is ridiculous. I then just stuck it in a cup-like every other toothbrush and threw the holder out. Pre-COVID the shipping started taking 6-8 weeks for no reason. So now I'm not getting new heads except every 4-5 months. I put up with it and customer service is atrocious taking 2+ weeks to respond to messages. Four separate times they stated they would send new heads because they may have gotten lost in the mail and on all four occasions I never received new heads, but the original ones that were sent. I also don't like how difficult the heads are to replace. I've hurt my hand trying to twist and pry the heads off and they build up gunk over time that requires using the old head to clean. I love how small and light the handle is compared to other toothbrushes, that it comes in fun colors, and has a nice rubber grip on the kid's version, which is what I have. The brush heads are inexpensive compared to other brand-name electric toothbrushes, and the subscription service is handy. I'm thrilled at the development of a reusable floss pick, as I can't stand using long strands of dental floss but I also don't want to generate plastic waste flossing my teeth. A few areas for improvement: 1. The join between handle and brush head breaks in the same direction as the pressure when you hold the brush against your teeth, which makes it prone to coming apart if there's a fault in the brush head. The join should be reversed to resolve this. 2. The rubber sealing rings that are supposed to keep water out of the inside don't work very well and should be improved. 3. Quip's dental floss is all mint flavored, including the nice little recyclable pods sold to go with the reusable floss pick. I, along with many other people, absolutely despise mint flavor. I don’t like this toothbrush. I tried it for quite a while and it’s just not for me. I’ve used different brands of electric toothbrushes for years, and I just don’t like this one. It kind of feels like I put a little hand mixer in my mouth, just way too aggressive of the vibration. I’m a regular flosser, with good dental visits and this toothbrush made my gums bleed the first few times. Part of the issue is that the rotating head is just too large, but also, the motor is very loud and aggressive. One thing that is superior to my other experiences is that this one pulsates after 2 minutes but doesn’t shut off. Sometimes I like to go a little bit longer if I felt like I missed a spot. However, with this toothbrush, I found myself just hoping it was done. Another positive is that my teeth were very clean when I used it, but I couldn’t help wondering if it was causing too much harm to my gum line. I included a comparison picture so you can see the side of the toothbrush head. I might try a different style head to see if I like this toothbrush more, but as-is, I can’t use it daily.Anonymously Sarah
I am so pleased with this toothbrush; I find it to offer such an effective, deep clean, while not being too uncomfortable on the teeth. I also found the overall appearance of the toothbrush to be very nice and not terribly bulky. I feel like I could easily take this when traveling or on-the-go. What I thought was unusual and cool about this was that there is a built-in timer that allows you to time the length of your brushing. I find this really useful because there are times when I may brush for over/under the recommended two minutes, so having this remind you to brush the entire duration is extremely cool and helpful. Due to a botched root canal, I have to be extremely careful with my dental hygiene. I need to floss after every meal, brush twice, tongue cleaner AND use water pik to avoid pain. This has been a total game changer. Worth it. This has reduced my time on oral hygiene from 30 minutes to 10 minutes. I also feel I don/t need to use my water pic as often. Glad I bought it.
