I just set up these candles over our fire place and they are such an upgrade over my previous ones. The first thing I noticed is that unlike my old ones these are very stable and the cord does not try to twist or knock over the candle. They are still light weight but very stable. These candles are fantastic! I bought my first set in November 2020 and immediately set them in my windows as I transitioned from Thanksgiving to Christmas decor. I fully expected I would have to replace the batteries near Christmas, but these candles "burned" until the end of January! I tried to order a second set not long after the first arrived, but they were already sold out. I just checked today (02/07/2021) and they were in stock, so I ordered a second set. I have wonderful childhood memories of candles in our windows. They were corded and we would have to tape the bases of the candles to the windowsills. I have searched high and low for the perfect candles for our windows. Through the years I've upgraded from the plug-in type, to battery-operated timer type with suction cups, and now to these. When they arrived I was disappointed because while I love the look of the base, there was no way it was going to show while sitting on the window ledge. Additionally, on my (1 year old) windows, the light sensor was blocked by the base of the window which causes the candle to remain lit all of the time. Also, these candles are significantly shorter than all others I have purchased throughout the years. I had seen that in the reviews but did not think I cared. The problem is that they don't show as well from the street when they are short. So, after searching frantically around the house I found that upside- down, clear plastic cups worked as risers to bring the candles up so that the sensor could detect light through the glass and make them tall enough to see the base from outside. The cups are, obviously, less than stable and mean that my blinds stick out from the ledge which is annoying. Just out of the package, I was mentally writing the words for a negative review (they were relatively expensive!). However, that first night I realized that they looked great (with the help of my makeshift risers).The flickering is not the strobe-light kind that cheaper candles create. It is realistic and pleasant, especially with the solid base showing. I recommend them (especially if the batteries last as long as others say) but suggest that you have a plan about how to make them taller for function and aesthetics.Candle Expert
