If you are new to skin care and need a basic cleanser for oily skin or are in need for a second cleanser in a two step cleansing routine, this product does the job. First off, even though it is advertised for those with oily skin I have found it works well for those with dry skin as well (I have combination). It is just that the other product advertised for dry skin does not work as well for oily skin, this product on the other hand feels pretty universal. This product is however NOT FOR those who wear medium to heavy make up and want to use a single cleanser. There are other cleansers out there that remove makeup and cleanse at the same time in one cleanser, go buy those if you don't want to double cleanse or remove makeup beforehand using wipes or pads. If you wear very light makeup (meaning only foundation basically) this product can get rid of that just fine. For everyone else, this is the cleanser you should get if you don't want anything else in your cleanser (meaning you don't need your cleanser to exfoliate, brighten, soothe, etc). It is scentless, does not have any active ingredients, and is formulated really well (I'm not going to go into detail about ingredients, but just trust me in that it is a good list). As hinted at above, it also works really well as a second cleanser in a double cleansing routine, and as your cleanser after you remove your makeup with a pad or wipes. The highest praise I can give to this product is that it is super consistent. I have used 3 bottles in a year (so each lasts about 4 months) and have found that all 3 bottles felt identical in there feel, use, and effect. I have added and removed many products into my routine throughout the year and have simply kept this cleanser and it has had no adverse effects on my skin no matter what I was cleansing off or what I added to my skin after my skin. Having used it throughout the year, it also works just as well throughout the seasons not matter the ambient temperature in your house. Don't get me wrong – this product DOES work well at removing excess oil without leaving a gross, filmy residue on your skin. My face feels really clean after using it. I appreciate that it is fragrance free but the smell of it bothers me. It smells like a swimming pool and a bit chemical like which is a little off putting. My other complaint is that it leaves the area around my mouth feeling dried out compared to the rest of my face. Not sure what that is about, could have something to do with postpartum hormones, but definitely something to keep in mind if you're buying this however it's nothing that a moisturizer afterwards can't fix. I was going to put in an order tonight but the kind for oily skin was the only one available. My grandaughter uses that one bc she has/had acne. The rest of us use normal to oily. I may have to wait to put in my order. Since my grandaughter started using the one for oily skin twice a day her acne is gone, she's 21 now & was 17 when I bought her first bottle. my daughters & I use normal to oily & it's great, I've tried alot of other cleansers which dry my skin out. My friends think that this is too expensive, this pump bottle lasts me a long time bc I'm the only one in my house that uses it. I use it in evening, sometimes w/a cloth & sometimes w/clarisonic brush, either way my skin feels good after. I prefer to use it in the evening bc I apply moisturizer after & wake up w/really soft skin. I don't think that you're supposed to use a facial brush e'day, it's too harsh on your skin! This cleanser is really good. There are lots of comments in regard to the new formula being worse than the old, which has NOT been my experience. ( it’s just a cleanser list of ingredients! ). This gentle foaming cleanser defends against 5 signs of skin barrier, dryness, irritation, roughness, and tightness. It’s not harsh on my skin at all. I massage the product into my ski for 60 seconds then rinse and follow the rest of my daily routine. This product goes on light and smooth and leaves my skin feeling fresh and healthy. I don’t care for the smell though, hence I less the star rating. What I love about this cleanser it is effective, but gentle without stripping or leaving my skin feeling dry. The original formula left my skin feeling dry. I’m so happy they improved the formula with glycerine because my skin feels refreshed and moisturized! First off, I’m an esthetician so I’m a bit of a skin care snob. Things that I do love about this cleanser is that the company reworked the formula and took out the parabens and all of the harmful ingredients that it use to use. The cleanser is definitely gentle and good for sensitive skin. But it doesn’t have any actual active ingredients that would help with acne. So if your expecting it to cure any acne. It won’t. It would be best if used as a pre-cleanse before an active cleanser or if your on a medication that prevents you from using active ingredients. I ended up liking this better than , which I didn't expect. The ingredients in that one interested me more, but in terms of actual daily use, I found this one more effective. That said, there are other cleansers I still like a lot better, for example Tatcha and AmorePacific. I know those are more expensive than this, but this one also isn't super cheap and I'd rather get better results. The gel-like texture for this cleanser felt too thick for me. For cleanser gels, I prefer ones like Youth to the People Superfood, not ones that feel like they're so thick it requires vigorous application in order to get a good lather from it. This one helped with my acne somewhat, but not enough to keep using. It also seemed to leave a bit more of a film on my skin at the end of washing my face.
Finally I have found a cleanser for my supper dry and sensitive skin this winter! This cleanser is what I wanted the like 5 cleansers I tried this winter before it to be. It's creamy and thick, very soothing on my skin which is feeling better. It lathers well and a little goes a long way. It does smell like fragrance free cleanser, but that's fine better that than a scent. Sorry as usual I know it says it's a makeup remover, but I don't know how effective just this product is at removing makeup on its own I only wear minimal makeup and I use micellar water before this and that seems perfect. I will say it says it's for all skin types but while it's gentle enough I don't know if I would use it if I had oily skin or combo skin more on the oily side. This might be my winter cleanser, have to see in summer. But I've been using it almost a week and I haven't broken out and it hasn't clogged my pores.
Pleasantly surprised by how effective this cleanser is while still being mild enough for when I’ve got a rough situation with my very sensitive yet acne-prone skin. I actually felt unimpressed with this product at first but inadvertently over-exfoliated my face one day and needed a super mild cleanser. This came to the rescue and I’ve been using it ever since! My only complaint is the smell. Yuck! It SMELLS “chemical-y” like it’s got tile cleaning agents in it or something. I was on the hunt for a great face cleanser for my husband, prior to this he switched from Clinique to Lab Series and he just wasn't a fan, therefore he wasn't really using the product. So after much research and reading countless rave reviews on this product, I was so relieved and impressed when I got him to switch and he also really enjoys using this cleanser. This foaming cleanser is directed toward those with oily skin, so I wasn't surprised when I lathered up, rinsed off, and felt dry and tight as I already have dry skin. So, can't fault them there. This stuff lathered better than any cleanser I've used without sulfates. There were some huge bubbles forming! It really was a nice face washing experience. However, this stuff is loaded with ginger and several citrus extracts that can be harsh on sensitive skin. I had this cold feeling on my skin well after I rinsed similar to what I'd feel with the application of lidocaine. Not sure if that was a reaction or meant to be that way. So, all in all, I don't recommend this to those with dry or sensitive skin but I think it could be a great option for those with oily areas.shannon.l
Wow! This cleanser is fantastic for a number of reasons: 1) A little goes a long way! You don't need to use a lot of product for each cleanse, so it's worth every $. 2) It has a really gentle, foaming lather that does not strip your skin of moisture. I'm not really a fan of non-foaming, second cleansers because I usually feel like my skin still has some residual oil/makeup on by the end. This product has been absolutely wonderful in giving me that fresh, pristine, clean feeling at the end of my skin cleanse routine. 3) The fragrance isn't overpowering like some other cleansers and for me, I feel like it actually promotes more of a spa-like ambience to my night time routine. 4) I do experience some mild, hormonal acne (normally on my forehead and along my cheeks) and although using this cleanser hasn't "helped" get rid of it (of course this product in no way promotes that as a function) it seems to have at least kept new pimples at bay. I feel like I can use this cleanser as many times as I need to and not worry about it changing my skin chemistry and risking new breakouts. I've only just started using Farmacy products, but they've quickly become a favourite skin care brand, mostly because of their ethics and values, but their products have been just a joy to use. I was reading somewhere that dry skin shouldnt use foaming cleanser. Im not so sure. I agree. My skin is normally dry. Im 61 years old. I moisture & hydrate my skin constantly to combat the dryness & Im successful at this. I purchase most of my skin care here, at Sokoglam & another K Beauty website. Since switching to clean skin care & using K Beauty skin care, the dryness is gone. I used this Soon Jung 6.5 whipped cleanser once before then when I went back to reorder, I couldnt find it. It seems the product was under reformulation and is now restocked. The reformulation description is on the product page. Im not sure how the product could have needed to be better, but, I here to repurchase another bottle. The bottle lasts & lasts. Just 2 pumps from the vaccume sealed pump container cleanses off my cleansing balm & any remaining grime. My skin is not tight or dry. Supple & left feeling hydrated. I highly recommend.
I really enjoy cleansers that come out as foam, they are easy to use and wash off. This cleanser from Etude has few ingredients, and panthenol is high on the list, which is really good for sensitive skin. While it cleanses well, it is also moisturising and doesn't leave a film like most cream cleansers do. I am able to use it two times a day and it doesn't strip my skin at all. My skin is already calmer and I have few breakouts after a week of use. I have combo skin, but I would recommend this cleanser for all skin types, especially sensitive. I have used a variety of different cleansers: from horribly drying "acne" microbead scrubs to no-rinse cleansing lotions to your standard pharmacy no-foam cleanser. I was, honestly, extremely skeptical that a foaming cleanser could truly be gentle, especially for my tretinoin-ravaged skin, but based on the glowing testimonials I heard not only from this website, but also my favorite influencers and beauty communities, I decided to give it a shot, especially since it costs so little (relatively speaking). I'm glad I did! This has quickly become my go-to cleanser, to the point that I've repurposed my original cleanser (a previous holy grail product) to clean my neck and intimate areas. I only cleanse my skin once a day, because as with all prescription acne medications, tretinoin tends to dry my skin quite a bit. I've found that after doing my first cleanse, all I need is one pump of this cleanser to get rid of all the residue left. Although it doesn't leave a "hydrating" film, like some other gentle cleansers, and this can lead the face to feel dry when you're running your fingers over it when it is still wet, once dried, the magic of this cleanser shines- almost all of my essential skin lipids are intact! Even though it may feel "dry" to my fingers, my face never feels tight or dry, even when it is wet. Furthermore, this is the only cleanser that I've used in which my skin is perfectly comfortable for up to an hour without any other step after (not even toner), although I do tend to avoid doing that for obvious reasons. If you're in the market for a new cleanser, I could not recommend this one highly enough!

This cleanser is really strange. I received it as my birthday gift. It’s very thick and once you mix it with water and apply it and rinse it off, it leaves some kind of “film” on your skin. I don’t wear makeup so the only thing this product had to go though was my daily moisturizer (no other serums or anything). My face did not feel clean even after massaging the product thoroughly for two minutes or so. HOWEVER THE FRAGRANCE IN THIS PRODUCT IS HORRIBLE. I don’t understand why there has to be a fragrance added to skin care (hello irritation!) in the first place and let alone a product that washes off your face. Generally speaking I love tatcha products. The cleansing oil and the water cream are part of my regular line up. I have tried this product twice, when it came as part of a set, and both times after a week of use I ended up with dry, flaky skin that resolved after I stopped using it. My skin is typically normal-to-dry but I also live in a very humid climate, so I wouldn’t say dry skin is a major problem for me, but with this product it was noticeable. I couldn’t wear any face makeup for a week or two because it would highlight the flakey spots. It has a lovely smell, and it feels nice, and the light texture seems to vanish when it’s rubbed in (I’m not sure if it provides any exfoliating at all, it’s so fine and disappears so quickly), so two stars for “cosmetic elegance,” but ultimately it is not for me. I really can’t understand how this would be called “hydrating” or described as not “stripping” the skin because neither of those were true for me.sarahs310
This wash feels extraordinary and you really have to compliment tatcha for the formulation here if nothing else. There is a mild "grit" to the cleanser when it first comes out of the tube which immediately dissolves as you rub your hands together and spread it over your face. It never creates a harsh lather, but rather cleans your skin almost like an balm or an oil, easily removing dirt and oil from your pores. It feels very rich never leaves you dry. I think this would probably work for all skin types with exception to extremely oily skin. If you've got very oily skin or clogged pores, I recommend the Hyper Skin Gentle Brightening Gel, which is my favorite cleanser at the moment for reducing the look of pores. This Tatcha rice wash comes in second place, as it's super calming and I always reach for this when I want a cleanser to make me feel like I'm at a spa. Be aware that their is some mild fragrance. This really shouldn't cause any issues even on sensitive skin, BUT as always if you have a damaged skin barrier from going too hard on the chemical exfoliates or treatments (can look like small red patches or general stinging when applying products) then I would put down all fragrance products until your skin heals.boyskinJJ

I received a deluxe sample of this product with a purchase. I was excited to try it out because I ran out of my other face washes and wanted to try something new. First con would be the scent. This product smells like a lemon cleaning spray. It does not smell good at all & has a strange overpowering scent. Clorox wipes would be my closest comparison. The next con would be the texture of the product. The product does not foam up at all. You will need to use a large amount as most just washes right off if you're using it in the shower. This product isn't cheap, so you will be wasting a lot of product to get your face fully washed & clean. Lastly, this doesn't do a good job removing makeup. You will need to wash your face multiple times if you do have makeup on. Afterwards, it makes your face feel VERY dry & you will need a really good cream to hydrate your face after. I LOVE this cleanser. I have very oil skin and it's difficult to find something that will balance my skin out without over drying it. I only use this at night unless my skin needs it in the morning. This is my new holy grail. My skin has never felt so good in my life. My skin feels refreshed after using this. This cleanser is on the pricey side but you don't need a ton. I love this facial cleanser. It has a clean light scent that smells refreshing. It is light, creamy, and actually cleanses my skin. After using the cleanser my skin feels very soft. I must admit prior to my purchase I noticed the number of complaints about packaging. I did reach out to Osea and they were super amazing. I wasn't expecting to receive a new pump. I e-mailed them to ask if their was a replacement I can purchase or use to help me pump the product out of the bottle. I informed them I was currently banging the bottle on my palms to get some out each wash. It wasn't a big deal, but I also read another reviewers comment that she purchased something to get the product out. I was willing to do the same as I seen Ulta had a tool that could be used that would fit inside the bottle. I don't remember the name of it, but it looked like a butter knife. I think it is used for make. However, I was able to request a new pump. They also provided me with instructions on how to use the pump. I wanted to come on to review product so I can help others to avoid damaging their pumps. This is my favorite cleansing oil that I have tried, and I also prefer it to cleansing balms and creams I have tried. To me, cleansing oils are better for makeup removal because I don't feel much friction with the skin when I rub to remove mascara/eyeliner. I like this cleansing oil because I feel that it's the most effective cleansing oil and also because I really enjoy the light olive scent. It is also the easiest cleansing oil/balm/cream that I've tried to remove – my skin feels clean and there is no residue after emulsifying. With many others, I feel that there is a thin film left on my skin or that a water-based cleanser should be used. One of the best oil cleansers I've tried. I have dry, sensitive skin and I really love this oil cleanser. The DHC Deep Cleansing Oil is an OG Japanese oil cleanser that gently removes makeup and sunscreen without stripping your skin. It is olive oil based with rosemary extract and vitamin E. The olive oil is full of natural antioxidants and in combination with the vitamin E, they soften and hydrate the skin. It is a dark golden oil upon first appearance. It has a strong olive oil smell which I didn't love but the scent doesn't linger after emulsifying and being washed away. It becomes milky and is easy to wash off skin without rubbing. I use it as my first cleansing step in my PM routine. I use one pump for my face and neck and massage it onto my dry skin for 30 seconds before rinsing my hands and emulsifying the cleanser on my face. It becomes super soft and silky and leaves my skin feeling as soft and silky! If I'm double cleansing, I follow up with a water-based cleanser but on days when I work from home, I use this as my standalone cleanser for the PM. I have no qualms about this product. It removes my makeup just fine including stubborn waterproof mascara without rubbing and losing any eyelashes. It also makes me feel secure after wearing and reapplying sunscreen that every bit of sunscreen is off by the end of my PM routine. For a basic oil cleanser, this is HG!

I have been using this for 18yrs and still going strong! I was using the typical “teenager” brands prior to this and when living with a couple friends just out of high school, I ran out of my usual face wash. One of my friends had this and let me use it and I have been hooked since. I have combination skin, leaning more towards oily. In winter, things get crazy dry including my skin. The rest of my body is itchy if I don’t use lotion but if I don’t put lotion on my face one day, it still feels and looks just fine. This face wash is perfection. I noticed there was a slight formula/fragrance change a couple years ago and got nervous it wouldn’t work well for me anymore but thankfully it is. I’m starting to have a hard time finding this in stores however and have started. Please please please do not discontinue this product!!Erin
i used this all throughout college and it was the BEST thing ever. i recent switched to cleansing balms because i wanted to try something new and better for travels. PROS: your makeup doesn’t stand a chance against this 1-2 pumps removed all waterproof makeup. you can have multiple layers caked on and the strongest matte lip or eyeliner — this will take it away clean feeling afterward EVERY time CONS: traveling with this was a nightmare — you cant twist the pump closed without pushing the pump down and letting product out. ended up putting it in travel containers, but i’m not a fan of doing so it does feel a little bit stripping, but not excessively so. i do have a thorough skincare regime that i follow to bring back moisture, though had a tough battle vs Lancome waterproof mascaras. i did have to massage my lashes a bit. this does not melt away makeup fast like oil-based cleansers and removers do, so don’t expect that! my reason to switch to balms was because i wanted to do a little less rubbing on my face and have something easier to pack. however, this is SUCH a solid product! i love it so much and keep some as backupdesirae.w
Not my favourite cleanser from Neutrogena for a few reasons. The BIGGEST reason I dislike this cleanser is because it is marketed towards sensitive skin….. yet for some reason the brand decided to formulate this with fragrance. Fragrance can irritate sensitive skin types so it is a little confusing as to why this product wasn’t made fragrance-free. On top of having a fragrance, the scent is comparable to household cleaners.. not really the vibe or sensorial experience I want from my skincare (if and when I want scented products). Another reason I dislike this cleanser is because it’s not very effective of removing makeup and due to the fragrance, I keep it far away from my sensitive eye area which partly defeated the purpose of a cleanser for me. Overall, I found this product stripping and irritating and I wouldn’t recommend this cleanser unless you have really resilient and oily skin that doesn’t irritate easily.dani.n

Best cleanser I’ve used. I finally have control over my breakout/cystic acne-prone skin and I have confidence, which is all too important. This has kept my skin clearer and has helped with oiliness better than any other wash I’ve used (I use this combined with the Cera Ve face lotion) and I live in FL, so that’s saying something! It keeps my skin balanced despite the changing weather, from the dryness to the humidity. For those who tend to automatically say something makes their face break out… there’s a difference between your skin breaking out/flaring up/having a bad reaction versus having it purge from a new product. I will tell you that in the beginning I went through some skin purging for a couple weeks. Please Google/know the difference. (: Leave it alone, be kind to your skin. Afterwards my skin cleared up and has stayed clear and clean and nice for months. Even after I got pregnant and with all the hormonal changes, this has maintained my skin so, so well. I am a massive skincare enthusiast and I have tested probably 60 cleansers in my skincare journey. And I ALWAYS come back to this one. I have probably gone through 30 bottles of this. This is one of the least drying foaming cleansers I have ever tried. This is one of those foaming cleansers that does NOT leave your face even remotely squeaky clean once you rinse it from your face. No joke. When you rinse it away, your skin feels slippery and smooth still; not even the faintest amount of "squeakiness" at all. Now… if you pat your face dry and let your face get bone dry afterward- of course your face will get dry! Some people do this and judge the cleanser for being "drying"- ANY cleanser, even hydrating ones, will feel drying if you don't hydrate the skin immediately after cleansing with serums and moisturizers. You shouldn't be allowing your face to dry down anyways. As soon as you cleanse, walk to your counter and apply your first serum onto damp skin. I digress. This cleanser is absolutely incredible. I read the reviews for this after I bought it and was kinda scared it would break me out. Turns out my fears were unfounded. My skin is fairly sensitive and I'm prone to ingrown hairs. Of course, YMMV, but this stuff has been working wonders for my skin, and I use it right after shaving when my skin is most sensitive. I'm not sure if the other reviewers received a bad batch, left the product on too long, or had an allergic reaction to a component within, but I have had zero issues and have nothing but good things to say about this stuff. To be on the safe side, I moisturize heavily and apply an alcohol-free aftershave as soon as I finish washing my face. I have to use a mixture of Vaseline with cocoa and either Uncle Jon's Lime Up aftershave, Lime skin food, and/or Proraso Azure Lime aftershave balm. The results speak for themselves. Using just Vaseline leaves my skin greasy, and using just an aftershave leaves my skin dry. I highly recommend Uncle Jon's Lime Up aftershave to use in conjunction with this, especially if you use this after you shave.ai.h

This cleanser goes on great and foams up quite easily. As you're cleansing it feels really nice, refreshing and effective. As someone with normal skin who probably leans slightly to the dry side of things, I did find this to be mildly stripping on some parts of my face, but wouldn't go so far as to say it was fully drying. Knowing that this is meant for normal to oily skin, it's not something I would've picked up for myself but I did get a sample size of it so of course had to try it out. It was good enough to finish the sample (about 3 uses) but not for my skin type to consider purchasing. I'd recommend it for oily skin types only.Bernie

I have been using Clinique products for 40 years including their liquid facial soap. I have always purchased the jumbo 13.5 oz size in this soap. Since this smaller size was such a good value I decided to stock up. I put one of these smaller sizes in my shower. Even though Clinique says it is fragrance free it normally has a slight crisp, clean smell thats reminds me of the smell of water while sitting next to a swimming pool. This particular bottle had a different smell to it and actually made my face burn while using it. Fingers crossed this is a bad batch Clinique is not changing their formula for this liquid facial soap. I thought it odd too that I ordered 4 when they arrived 3 were shrink wrapped together the 4th was by itself thats the one I tried. Possibly the other 3 were a different batch and may have been fine. I did not open all of them. I hope QVC gets more of the jumbo size bottle in oily so I can order more.Anonymous
I have combination oily, aging, sometimes sensitive skin, prone to acnemilia, and I use the facial soap for oily skin. It is a liquid gel consistency and doesnt necessarily foam, but is effective at removing my sunscreen, moisturizer, sweat, sebum, the little makeup that I wear, and any dirtpollution. If you wear makeup, Id recommend using makeup remover first, then finish with this cleanser. I turn cleansing into a massage using this product, to give the active ingredients time to work, on my face, ears, neck, decollete, and the bumpy areas on the back of my upper arms KP. My face feels fresh and clean, not stripped, and there is a lovely cooling minty sensation on my skin as the water evaporates. It is a lovely experience On days when my skin feels like it might react to actives or the minty fresh sensation, I use Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser instead, as a backup plan, but this is my preferred cleanser. Also, a little goes a long wayit only takes one or two pumps of product per cleansing. Id recommend this for anyone with oily skin, male or female its unscented and gender neutral, but if acne is a bigger problem, go with the acne line of products Clinique offers. I follow cleansing with this soap with Clarifying Lotion 3 exfoliant toner and Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel or Jelly both are oil freethe DDM lotion has oils. I would think that this soap would be drying without some kind of moisturizer, even a light oilfree moisturizer.Anonymous
I love the product, been using it for years. Although, the older version of the Extra Mild was better, but works great! I only have one comment. Why they got rid of the pump? If they really wanted to be more green, could offer an option of the exactly same bottle without the pump as a refill. But no, they changed the bottle, so you can't used the older bottle pump. And of course, now without the pump, you used more product each time, so the bottle now last less. Way to go Clinique geniuses, trying to past a marketing strategy as a green strategy!Maru

I am on the hunt for a new cleanser since Cetaphil decided to add niacinamide to their cleansers. I am one of those people where niacinamide causes irritation. I love the Vanicream moisturizing cream so I decided to try the gentle cleanser. I have combo skin with rosacea and use tretinoin .025 to help with the bumps. My skin can tolerate the tretinoin just fine so it's not overly sensitive. The cleanser left my face squeaky clean. Which means it stripped away all the natural oils and left it very dry and tight. After using it for awhile, it seemed to cause an increase in red bumps and irritation. I swapped back to my old Cetaphil cleanser (I have 2 bottles left) and it was pretty calm the next morning. I am now trying Fresh Soy to see how that works.heidi.a
I was hesitant to buy this because I was worried it wouldn’t clean well or that it would just be a basic boring and drying foam cleanser. Boy, was I wrong. This has such a wonderful rich, creamy lather that spreads well over the skin without a need to add another pump. One pump cleans my whole face. It thoroughly cleanses my face as well, I had a tiny (it was unnoticeable unless you got close to me) pimple above my lip, and I literally felt it wash away using this. It was there before I washed my face, and I felt it when I started to wash my face, and suddenly it was gone! I am amazed with this face wash and I will never use another one because this is perfect for me. I won’t say it leaves me feeling “hydrated” as some other reviewers say, but it leaves me feeling clean but not overly stripped. I follow with my serum and Cerave lotion and I’m good to go! I honestly can't come up with a single complaint about this face wash. The skin on my face is sensitive and acne prone. I also have combination skin. This is why I was interested in trying this face wash out. I usually try to make educated decisions with it comes to my beauty product purchases, doing my best to stay away from dyes, fragrances, and hard chemicals. This product has a very mild scent and it's like a thick liquid when it comes out. It turns into a nice foamy texture (not bubbly) and glides on my skin nicely. I notice it cleanses my skin well leaving hardly anything behind and doesn't dry out or irritate my skin. I absolutely love this cleanser, I use it every single night for my night time regime. I got it for $15.99 from ultra's website but you can buy it on the brand's site for a dollar less. I would not recommend using this if you have cystic acne. I had really bad and inflamed acne for a while and using this cleanser alone didn't do enough for me. I did not have cystic acne either. Salicylic acid is a betahydroxy acid (BHA) and is the main ingredient in this cleanser. This is definitely effective but not using it by itself. If your acne is not so severe you could probably use it alone and it will clear up but in my own experiences I had to get on a prescribed astringent medication given by my doctor. Using that along with the effacer cleanser has slowly been able to fight off my acne. Overall this cleanser is pretty amazing and is a great tool in controlling my acne. I love it and it is pretty affordable, you can't beat it!jillian.g
to keep it short i have sensitive, acne prone, dry skin. my acne was mild/ medium. i had issues with hormonal/ cystic acne that just always kept coming back no matter what. i tried this cleanser and yes my skin felt super clean, but then i noticed breakouts. i did some research and soon found out my skin was purging (i had no idea what that meant). people are not educated enough about skin purging and it is actually a good thing because it really cleanses out your pores and pushes all the dirt to the surface (causing texture, white heads and blackheads) but it gets better. it's just a whole process of really cleansing your pores and you have to be patient. i would advise you really do your research on breakouts vs skin purging when trying a new product with an active ingredient. i do really love this cleanser though, but I would've hated it if i wasn't educated on what skin purging is because id think this product is just causing breakouts.victoria
I love and adore this product If you are like me and have some sort of combination acne like, cystic but also fungal but you don't know what to do or have tried everything? This product is for you!! It took about five days of regular routine of this project as well as their other two (which I will mention) to clear my skin, this is perfect for sensitive skin like mine and combination skin as well. I start off by using this cleanser, i foam it up a dime size amount in my hands and then I wash my face and under my chin/neck, I rinse off and repeat again just to really cleanse my skin. Then I dry my skin lightly and I go in with their step two toner, I take a cotton pad with a little amount and brush it all over my flared up areas. After I use their step three benzol peroxide and lightly glaze some of the cream over my entire face(NOT EYES) This is just my nightly routine, in the morning I just wash my face with the cleanser or else it is too drying . This product also lightened my acne scarring, please try this routine and keep up with it for at least a week and I promise there will be a difference in your skin. I don't usually write reviews, but I'm throwing my hat in the ring here because I hope to see this company take action to make this product more user-friendly again. After reading many of the reviews over the past several months, I want to echo the comments about the new packaging. It's funny because my derm office actually told me that the package change was due to comments people were making about the old packaging leaking…which doesn't entirely make sense because you could store the old bottle with either end up. I kind of feel like it was just an excuse that they were told to tell when people asked? Anyway, now, I literally get 2 pumps of product out of the bottle before the pump gets clogged irreparably. Every time I use this product (2x a day!) I have to unscrew the top and wipe off some product from the straw attached to the pump. I'm sure this dilutes the product, too, since my hands are wet when I do this. For $33 I shouldn't have to do this! I've even considered buying this and repackaging it in a different tube that works better, but again…I don't feel like going through that much effort. Bottom line to the product packaging department: that itty bitty opening through which you expect your incredibly thick product to travel doesn't cut it. Bring back the old packaging, or go through more rigorous testing with a new and improved packaging that actually dispenses your product. As for the product itself, I can't really speak to formula changes, because I haven't really noticed one, but this isn't the only glycolic acid-containing wash out there with good reviews. I'm going to try a new one that dispenses itself better, and maybe I'll check back with my derm in a few months to see if this product has improved.Nicole V.
This was recommended by my teenaged daughter’s dermatologist for the whiteheads on her forehead. I ended up trying it because after a few weeks I noticed that her skin was flawless. I've been using this every day for 2 months and can say it keeps my pores clean and fresh feeling. I haven't noticed a difference in the brightness of my skin and the scent is awful. If I had to describe, it smells like old car engine mixed with menthol. Some would probably say it smells like eucalyptus (a family member thought it smelled like this) but I think it's far from it. Maybe I just received a bad bottle or my senses are off. I can tolerate the scent which is why I continued to use it, I don't want to waste it. I'm not sure if I will purchase again. I am astonished at the transformation my skin has shown with this high quality cleanser! This cleanser has a gel like consistency, it is cooling when you apply. I have used it as a mask and a cleanser. I have used it for several weeks and haven't noticed a difference in skin improvement. My skin also didn't feel clean after using this. I have used this on my bare skin and when I have make up on. If washing off make up, I feel that you should still double cleanse. I read reviews about how this product hasn't worked on dark spots or discoloration. I know this product contains niacinamide, however it is a rinse off. It may be worth trying a niacinamide serum. I LOVE this cleanser. I like gel cleansers that feel smooth and gentle, don’t strip my skin, don’t leave behind a filmy feeling, but leave my skin soft, and this is the perfect one for me. I use it on wet skin (you can use it dry but I don’t like the feel) first thing every morning and as a second cleanser at night after removing my makeup. It very lightly emulsifies but feels so silky, and I always leave it on for a few minutes before washing it off like a quick mask (even recommended on the bottle), and my face is so soft, smooth and brightened! I even feel like my toner, serum and moisturizer absorb better and my face stays smooth all day. Everyone’s skin is different, but for mine I can’t find anything I’d want to improve.Megan
I was so excited for this brand, and this cleanser in particular, to launch in the UK and it didn't disappoint! I think it's a great morning/second cleanse. It's super gentle but effective and lathers up nicely. Normally products that foam up irritate my skin and leave my face feeling dry, but this is nice and hydrating. The pump is great and the bottle is a decent size too! I love the texture, it feels quite luxurious considering it's a more reasonably priced cleanser. Finally found the perfect cleanser for my face and skin type. I've already noticed a huge difference in overall oil reduction, texture, and clogged pores, so I'm pleased. I have combo oily/dry skin on my face, so some areas over produce oil and some areas are drier than a desert. But a couple of things I noticed about this cleanser is it works really well to unclog the oily areas and keep them moisturized a bit. After about 4 days, I did notice the salicylic acid starting to work and my face was flaking off, but that's what it's supposed to do. So I added some Jergens Ultra Healing lotion to my routine and WOW it's effective. The dry parts of my face are moist, the oily parts are moist but not oily. Would recommend.Luftherz
I have been dealing with constant breakouts for years, since middle school, and I’m 22 now. I just started using this face wash in May 2022 and it has been a life saver. Not only did it clear my breakouts but if I do breakout, it’s one or two pimples. Which for me is more than manageable and an improvement. It also has gradually been fading my acne scars as well. I have now sworn by this face wash to friends and family. This face wash is extremely gentle as my skin didn’t “purge” like it has when I first started using other face washes. If you’re stuck in a never ending cycle of constant breakouts PLEASE try this! This was the key ingredient of seeing real change of my skin in my skin care routine. I received the CeraVe Acne Control Cleanser for reviewing purposes. I have combination skin nose and chin very oily, forehead is super dry rest of face is normal. I also get hormonal acne. With all that said I find this product actually whole line really great. I have only been using for about 3 weeks so I am just over the purging stage but I am seeing my pores getting smaller also not having as much redness. It also great at getting a full face of makeup off. I recommend this product to everyone just know your skin will do a pruge so your skin will look worst before it looks better.Sami
