Hourglass review I was gifted by Hourglass Cosmetics their Vanish Primer in exchange for my honest review. First off let me say I am a diehard Hourglass fan. You absolutely get what you pay for. Not only luxury products but one of my favorite brands for their packaging. Exquisite! I’ve yet to have a product of theirs not be perfect for me. This primer feels like liquid silk. I do not have oily/shiny skin but my daughter does and she found that working all day at her fast food job it not only controlled her shine but her makeup looked just as good as it did when she started her shift. I like this because there is little to no scent and it played well with my sunscreen. No pilling or separating issues at all. Again, Hourglass products are not ‘cheap’ and they are well worth my hard earned money. Also, I love their Brow Shaping Gel! I didn't think that anything could top the original Hourglass primer. I love that stuff, and have used it in my kit for years. But this one may have even topped it! I love how it seems to control oil and shine, while still feeling hydrating on the skin. It doesn't have the powder finish the original seems to have, but sinks in nicely and leaves a really smooth base for foundation. I do feel like the foundation lasts longer when I use this primer as well, which is always needed when clients need a face to stay on for 16+ hours. Kudos to Hourglass for outdoing themselves on this primer. I feel like every skin type will not only enjoy it, but reap the benefits from it as well. First of all, I’m not a primer person. I typically invest in other base products because I require an elaborate moisturising routine. So when the sales person said that this primer does what it says on the bottle I wasn’t overly convinced until I tried it. The product is viscose and blends well but does not shift or ball up once applied. There’s no pigmented or greasy sheen to it either. So while it’s very comfortable to wear and apply, the real benefit comes once a foundation or even powder is applied. Everything, and I have tried concealers, foundations and powders, goes on so smoothly. I don’t wear full coverage foundation and so formulations have to really perform given I don’t want merky looking skin or patchy looking foundation. So if like me, you don’t exactly believe you *need* a primer, then this is the one you will WANT.ChlNel

I am new to primer and wasn’t sure what to expect but it has quickly turned into a daily must for me. I love a natural look and don’t always wear make up, so I love that I can opt for using this primer alone when I was more than just moisturizer but not in the mood for full make up. It subtly smooths my fine lines and pores for a fresh complexion that looks like my skin with a bit of a filter. It’s also great under both liquid and mineral foundation. I love that it is versatile and wears well on my skin for any look I’m into any given day. This will be my go to from now on. I received this sample to review as I was in the market for a primer. Absolutely love it! It glides on the skin like silk. Your foudation application is smoother than without the primer. As I have been suing everyday since .. I did the makeup without the primer one day and noticed a difference. I use it everyday prior to my mornign makeup but not at night. What bI love mosr is the primer plus a serum in one product . And it is affordable . Too many times you try a product but cannot afford to buy again to incorporate in your daily routine. Dont expect miracles as it is not a miracle cure, but if you are looking for a greeat afforable addition to your makeup routine. this is a great choice! I love love love the Loreal age perfection blurring face primer!! It will always be my go to for blurring effect!! It does a fabulous job ! I’m 53 my face has always had a beautiful complexion but as i have aged i have noticed an increase of pore size and redness. This does a fabulous job covering pores ! Blurs the red some but it does give a great complexion. Of course minus the wrinkles~ which the only thing to fix those is needle work lol !! Or knife work😂 anyways love this product !!!jessica

New holy grail! I'm shocked at how great this primer performed. I've tried many primers from many brands over the years. Smashbox, benefit, nyx, wet n wild, tatcha.. etc. I've either had bad experiences or just had a subtle boost but nothing much to brag about. I got to a point where i was starting to believe that primers are a waste of money and dont do anything. Just as i was giving up this primer changed my mind. I initially was avoiding this primer because i thought it would be the same as the Elf mint melt primer. I had been using that one as i heard it was a dupe for the milk hydro grip. That was was alright but i felt it was too sticky and didn't make too much of a difference in my makeup. It almost kind of emphasized texture and pores a bit. Then this primer came out with people saying the same thing, a supposed dupe for the hydrogrip.. I thought it might have been the same primer just in a different packaging since the mint melt was a limited release. I ended up purchasing the power grip because my mint melt fell out of my makeup bag. The texture was a lot thinner and smoother than the mint melt. No where near as sticky or uncomfortable to put on. I was SHOCKED. Not only did my foundation look smooth and seamless, but it lasted over 10 hours. I applied my makeup in the morning, did a full 8.5 hour work shift, and then went to get drinks afterwards. All i needed was a bit of a powder touch up and my makeup looked fresh the whole day and night. I'm in love with this primer and its a new staple in my daily makeup routine. I cant believe i went so long without it! Definable deserves all the hype it gets and i'll be recommending this to anyone in need of a new primer!america.g

…it's VERY similar to Elf's Mint Melt and Jelly Pop primers. I havent bothered to compare ingredients, but I own all three primers and I have a sneaking suspicion that the only differences between the three products might be dyes and fragrances. As for the actual quality of the product, I think it works really well. It's tacky and it does what the title suggests–it grips onto your foundation. I've used Power Grip over several different serums, moisturizers, and sunscreens. I've used it under bb creams, both light and medium coverage liquid foundations, and with just plain powder–it plays well with everything I've tried. I haven't noticed any pilling, and it doesnt make my dry patches more noticeable; if anything, it makes them less noticeable (I have combo skin…oily in t-zone, normal perimeter, dry undereye and lids). Power grip seems to prevent my base makeup from settling into fine lines for a much longer time than other similar primers do, and it definitely prevents makeup from fading throughout the day–I do think that overall, it wears well. In my opinion, that's the aim of this primer: to keep your makeup on for the duration of your day, and to help it to look better longer–if that's what you need, give it a shot. That being said, anyone looking for pore blurring or filling, redness reduction or color correction, or anyone with very dry skin will probably want to forego this primer and try something else.Cher W

I wanted to use this grip primer for a few weeks before writing a review. I’ve used ELF’s other primers in the past, and remember being impressed by the poreless face primer. The grip primer is supposed to be a dupe for a more expensive MILK primer, and I think it does a good job doing that. It has viscous consistency, and you need to put it and spread it on your face immediately after dispensing. I was really impressed that it didn’t pill, cause I have the same problem with many other primers on the market that I’ve used in the past. I’ve seen reviews that it wan’t the best suit for a dry skin, and since my skin is super dry I was a bit apprehensive about using this primer, BUT with the first application all my fears disappeared. I love love loooooooooove that this primer has a hyaluronic acid which my skin loved, and the fact that it’s made without all the parabens sulfates adds another star to it. I usually use light primers under my sunscreen on days when I’m not using heavy makeup, however, I think the grip primer works better with heavy foundation makeup. I was really impressed about how long my foundation stayed in place without any touchups throughout the day. It was literally a wow-effect. ELF did it again putting an amazing product on the market without the expensive price tag. I would definitely recommend this primer, and would be purchasing it myself in the future after I use this one up.maggie.q

If you have redness, fine lines, wrinkles , and acne this won't do much for you. Yes bb cream oh heck yes, but this is a glow cream. It will leave behind a fine glitter glow. If you don't have any of these , then it's perfect for you ! Formula is creamy, non sticky and lightweight. Doesn't have much of scent either. If i had to choose between the two bb creams , i would choose perfect glow as it's a little darker .courtney .g

I LOVE finishing up my AM skincare routine with this tinted sunscreen/cosmeceutical has Vit C, collagen, bakuchiol (a gentle form of retinol that is safe for daytime use) and SPF 40! I have dry skin so I am IN LOVE with how glowy it makes me. It probably wouldn't be great for oily skin if you don't like the dewy look. I will for sure be buying this is a full-size!! purlusse Ageless Glow Serum BB Cream with SPF 40 is a natural looking coverage. I could not find the actual product to tag, so I chose the closest product. I loved how this looked on my skin and how it felt as well. I have sensitive skin that doesn’t always respond well to products. It was not sticky or thick and went on smoothly. I love the Becca skin love primer it's really good I love the ingredients in it it's super hydrating and smells really fresh kind of like cucumber melon. It's great for my skin it doesn't feel tacky after I use it, it helps with my makeup a lot and it's just wonderful all over and definitely well worth the money. I will be buying this when I run out and it will stay in my makeup collection from now on. The primer is infused with glow nectar brightening Hydra complex and as honey and molasses as well as a nourishing algae. The primer also has an optical blurring effect to it that blurs your pores as you blend it out over your skin and it leaves your skin feeling silky smooth. The ingredients help to brighten, hydrate, and nourish your skin. the formula contains natural butters hyaluronic acid and his sugar derived from porcine or to hydrate to smooth and perfect your complexion. the packaging is also stunning, the box from the top to bottom starts out white and fades into a really pretty teal blue and all the lettering on it you can like feel it the Becca skin love brand on it is like sunk into the box so you can feel it and all the other letters you can feel as well all over the box and they're all in silver. the tube itself does the same thing going from white to a really pretty teal blue and the lid is silver and feels like it has a good weight to it and on top of the lid it has kind of like engraved into it Becca and a heart which I think is a really nice detail.Allie

I have a small confession to make: I didn’t know what primer was until 2-3 years ago (don’t judge me). It pains me to know that I, a fool, was meandering about with only foundation on and my large pores/bad skin flapping freely in the wind. Now, with some depressed acne scarring on top of large pores, I’m more self-conscious than ever and primer has been a blessing. The first thing I noticed about this primer was its overt fragrance. That’s weird, right? A primer having such a strong scent? Maybe I’m wrong, considering my foray into the world of primer was recent, but it’s pretty strong. I would keep that in mind when considering purchasing this product. It goes on smoothly, but I wouldn’t say it “blurs” so much as it “smudges.” It feels velvety smooth on my skin, and not tacky at all. Foundation goes over it smoothly, although whether or not my skin looks brighter after using it for a few days I’m not so sure. I was sooo excited to find out I was receiving this product to review from Influencer, especially since I tend to be a fan of Becca products. Sadly, I was left disappointed with this primer. I love the concept of skin love and was really looking forward to a product that provided function and healthy skin loving ingredients – this was not the case. I get incredibly annoyed at how difficult it is to find a primer without silicones/dimethicone in it and thought this primer might be different. Nope! After reading the lengthy list of ingredients, I thought I'd still give it a go. I tried this product for 2 weeks on one side of my face underneath my normal foundation. Besides the questionable silicones, the overwhelming fragrance is concerning as well. I didn't really notice a difference in skin texture, appearance, or lasting stay of my foundation compared to the side of my face without the primer. The cherry on top of the cake was the GIANT cystic acne that appeared on my cheek a week after use (this is very abnormal for me). I have since discontinued use of this primer and my face has cleared up. Some may find that it suits their skin just fine, but I wouldn't call this 'skin loving' based on the acne causing ingredients and my experience with it. If you don't have naturally smooth skin it just doesn't work. It's nice at first when you put it on but if you try to put foundation over it, it starts peeling off. It flakes off. I don't understand it! It's like once it dries onto your face, you can't touch it or mess with it or it will literally come off of your face easily. It definitely blurs pores and looks matte but.. it's not the best when it comes to staying on your face. And after a few hours it'll start to look cakey no matter how much you use. I have combination skin. It's oily but flaky in the T zone.. idk if that could be why.Ang

I am so glad it's not just me… I bought this stuff because it says it's hydrating. It doesn't really provide hydration IMO. What it DOES do is make my foundation look TERRIBLE. It starts to roll up and peel as I'm applying foundation and concealer. My face looks terrible. And then I tried drawing on my brows with a pencil and stuff started peeling off of my brows! I bought both this and the Pacifica Cherry Matte Mattifying Primer to see how well they worked at reducing shine. The Pacifica product was meh (unless you want to still look "glowy") but this product was amazing. Just the tiniest bit patted on my fingertip is enough to completely get rid of any shine, and it lasts longer than anything else I've ever used. It needs to be lightly patted onto the skin, not smeared on. Use it very, very sparingly and one tiny jar will last for months. I hope they never stop selling this!Nature Lover

I have been searching far and wide for a dupe for my Hydrablur Primer by Dermalogica because it is one of my HG but I order it online and it is expensive. I found this product and the ingredient list is simple yet effective & non-comedogenic (a big plus for me)! This product creates a smooth base and fills in the textures I want. I scoop out a small amount with a tiny spoon and warm the product on my fingertips before applying to my t-zone, chin, and smooth out on my cheeks. I recommend having your skin moisturized well before using this product!! If I notice that there are some areas on my face that need more product, I light dab a tiny amount and work the product in. This product is in a cute container that is very portable, but on that note, for the price point and amount of product given it is kind of pricey for what you get. It has been working for me thus far but I use sparingly – less is more with this one y'all.Kait

UPDATE (3-3-21) I don't like the fact that even a tiny amount makes my liquid and my mineral powder foundation appear like my skin is peeling off where I've applied this. I've used it a total of 3 times now, using only the tip of my pinky finger and then only a tiny amount with a Q-Tip. I have only used this with Loreal's Pro-Matte foundation and their mineral foundation. It's a tiny jar for the price you pay! Holy Moley! It's a very smooth, satiny, or even silky, almost delicate texture. So, I'm on the fence about the Magic Perfecting Base Primer. I decided to purchase the Infallible Matte foundation to see if it would hell keep my face looking good or at least prevent the foundation from making my skin look dry. I applied a very tiny amount to key areas i would like to cover (forehead, smile lines, tiny line on my chin, nose..)and I waited a good 10 minutes or longer before I applied the foundation. My nose looked like skin was peeling after a sunburn, it was the product-I lightly brushed it off and thought maybe I used more than a tiny amount? No idea. But all I had to do is just lightly brush off what got cakey and was good to go! No messy look on that area after. I'm happy my face didn't break out! That is a major plus! Based on my results, I don't recommend this.heather.a

At first I loved it as a primer because it’s moisturizing and good under makeup, but then I started noticing a bad smell anytime I touched my face and whenever I washed my make up off. This product smells so bad. It’s not noticeable until you touch your face, but it’s a gross petroleum-y funky smell. I love this primer but the smell is not tolerable for me. It washes off but I can’t stand how nauseating the smell is. It’s like an old mud mask that went bad. It’s not pleasant. Maybe I just got a bad one, but I’m not going to take the risk again. Believe me when I say I will never do my makeup without this product again. I have the DRIEST skin, to the point where it flakes. I use every possible dry skin care remedy and it helps, but then when I apply makeup, it normally goes right back to dry and I may as well have not done my skin care routine. However, that is no longer the case with this product. It gives me the glowy finish I've always wanted and it makes my makeup look insane. It really does last all day, and I use it with Estee Lauder double finish which IYKYK it's thick stuff. My skin took about a week to really adjust to it, but that always happens to me when introducing a new product. I can't recommend this enough I hope they never stop making it.Meg

This product has become an essential in my make up routine. It's honestly the best primer I have ever used and really does what it says it does. I start to get an oily forehead as the day wears on but with this primer applied in the morning after my moisturizer my skin stays looking matte and my make up looks fresh all day. It absorbs into skin quickly, is non greasy or oily and feels like silk on my skin. The pores around my nose look smaller and less noticeable and my complexion overall looks more flawless. My skin is left feeling refreshed, soft and hydrated after applying this primer. I love that this primer is hydrating too as my skin is normally quite dry. I combined this primer with the Fix It Forget It setting spray and noticed a massive difference in how long my make up lasted, it stayed in place all day keeping any shine at bay and my make up looking great. It's the perfect smooth, mattifying base for foundation and I would highly recommend it especially for those with oily skin. It's fantastic!Steph27x

This is a great primer which is designed to mattify your complexion and reduce pore size. Whilst I found this was the case I was impressed that the primer itself felt very moisturising on application and didn't feel tight afterwards. My skin in normal to dry and on the mature side. It would be interesting to see how this works for more oilier skins but the initial moisturising effect didn't feel greasy afterwards so I think the Lancome labs have delivered something that works well for all skin types, as it is promoted. I was also impressed that even though this gave a mattifying effect that it also lent a radiance too. I expected a dull look and as I prefer a more glowing complexion which I feel at my age works better, the mattifying effect wasn't at the cost of radiance. For me I think I would use this more for evening wear as I prefer a glowing look but for the evening it would give a more polished look. It also helped my makeup to stay on longer, with the additional help of the new Lancome Fix it & Forget it setting spray.Karen76

I have combination skin which means it can end up very oily with make-up oxidising and either melting or sitting on my skin in patches. This primer does keep that at bay and I found my make up does stay in place all day. I don't like the feel of make up/too many products on my skin. This wasn't too bad for the majority of the day, I don't feel like I was wearing thick layers of products. Like any product I am aware towards the end of the day that I want to wash that make up feel off but in general I found it works well with my skin and it's nice my make-up lasted for a change and not too heavy a feeling of wearing it. Yep, the ingredients suck. But it came in my Luxe box and I tried it. My skin turned super dry since my 3rd kid and nothing has allowed me to wear foundation. I've tried so many foundations, moisturizers, serums and primers in the last two years and and still can't find something that will allow me to wear foundation without cracks, picks, flakes and peels on the sides of my nose and around my mouth. Looks so bad, Ive started to think I should just quit trying. Lo and behold, enter this baby and my Tom Ford foundation looked perfect in 90 secs. So I tried again. Yep…another fast and perfect application. So I tried my Lancome, my Tarte, my Clinique, my Nars, my Urban Decay, my Make Up For Ever and my Laura Mercier foundations to make sure it wasn't a high end fluke. Fast perfection with every last one. So if you are struggling with foundation application due to dry, flaky, cracky skin try a sample!! I am currently waiting for my second order of this to arrive because I ran out of the first one. Now, I love luxury items, but for the most part I really only buy luxury makeup that I'm obsessed with. I had high hopes the first time around because of all the Youtubers I watch who were absolutely raving about it (and I wanted to feel super classy and boogie, too, I'll admit). To be totally honest, at first I was a little surprised because it wasn't as thick as I thought it'd be. It's sort of like a hand sanitizer's consistency, like a water-infused gel. You see little gold flakes in every single pump and even tho I would go crazy and use 2-3 for my whole face and neck, you TRULY only need 1, 2 at the absolute maximum, but really one will do the job, just apply it quickly because it does absorb very fast. Even using 2x too much, if not more, literally everyday, sometimes admittedly twice in one day (I was crazy and I wanted my friends to try it too) the bottle still lasted me about three months, so I'd say if you conserve you can easily get 6 out of this bottle. Did I feel the insane lifting and tigthtening everyone's talking about at first? Not entirely. But I did notice that applying it in an upward motion starting at my neck and working up to my forehead made a big difference in the firmness and tightness of my skin. But what REALLY SOLD ME on this product and is the reason I am REPURCHASING it is actually what I noticed after I ran out. Like I said, I used it obsessively every single day and I got used to it. So when I stopped using it, I realized that my foundation wasn't lasting as long and wasn't looking as flawless, no matter what other primer I used, or founation, or how I applied it, or how good my skincare was. Finally, I had to admit to myself that it was this extremely expensive item that made my makeup flawless and stay on throughout most of the day. Sorry for such a long review, I literally never write these, but I also literally never re-purchase luxury items unless they're worth it. So the last thing I'll say is, I know it seems like an insane purchase, but think about how much money you'll save from not having to buy primer after primer when this really does work its magic. My advice: The perfect combination that I can NOT beat right now (even after trying this primer with Dior's Capture Totale which is 83 dollars) is GUERLAIN L'OR PRIMER and DIOR AIRFLASH FOUNDATION (I am not ultra fair, but fair, and 202 CAMEO is my perfect shade and I'm telling you, nothing works better with one another than these two products. I literally wish I could like buy samples of them both and send them to everyone reading this because it really is that freaking flawless. Okay, I'm done ranting. But if you're on the fence, just do it. I really really don't think you'll regret it. And if you have it and are underwhelmed, try a little test and use this with another primer or no primer on each side of your face with the exact same foundation/concealer/etc. I'm telling you you'll see a difference, if not immediately, by the end of the day. I wasn’t too sure how to best use L’Or Gold Radiance; usually I like to use a blurring silicone primer under my mineral powder foundation, but the consistency of this primer is very thin. Someone else compared it to gel hand sanitizer, that would be accurate. The gold flecks disappear on contact, so I didn’t notice any residue from those. The main thing I observed with this primer is that it’s very sticky and takes a long time to dry. Longer than a silicone primer. I got fed up of waiting after a while and ended up applying Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream on top as my makeup base. My skin looked great once I applied my powder foundation, nice and plump. I repeated the same process with La Mer SPF50 sunscreen on top, also works nicely without pilling. To me it behaves more like a skincare serum than an actual primer. I will finish the deluxe mini I got in my Sephora Luxe box, but I will stick to my beloved Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield SPF30 primer. L’Or Gold Radiance is not transformative enough for me to make the switch, and the price is a little obscene for what you get. JMHO.angeleyes

I love this primer. It does such a great job of being a soothing hydrating primer that blurs pores and protects my skin. I'd buy it again and again. It works with all my foundations, and looks nice! It looks a little white at first even on my Snow White skin, but seems to disappear when rubbed in after a minute or two. Smell? Not really. It's not perfumed, so it has a natural kind of smell that disappears. Nothing awful, nothing pleasant. Personally I don't want fragrance on my face. BUT. The pump. Oh boy. I have managed to get this stuff in a curtain, a wall, carpet because it squirts out in every direction! I have tried cupping my hand… a product should not be this hard to actually get out of the bottle! I ALMOST bought a second bottle, but I can't bring myself to. I'm not sure how other people are applying this primer but I personally love this! I use this as the last step of my morning skin care routine. Personally, I have combination/oily skin so I found this to have a matte finish while also adding sunscreen protection. Very layer-able. I usually start with a serum, a moisturizer and then add this on top and then start my makeup routine. My make up always looks flawless and I love how light and the extra moisture this adds. As for scent… I never noticed anything so I am not sure why people are saying there's an order? It hardly has a smell. I love this brand and this one of my favorite products!Marissa

I had been hesitant to order this when it first came out, but luckily received in the summer beauty subscription box so I was very eager to try. Usually with SPF made with Zinc Oxide, the darker the skin tone applied to, the more likely I am to definitely see white residue, and they can end up being heavy, made even more so by needing to add more foundation than usual to cover the white sheen. With this primer, I apply after using the Milk Drops, just one pump after shaking is enough for my whole face. It goes on so smooth and light and after a few minutes I definitely see the mattifying and blurring effects, and more importantly- NO WHITE RESIDUE. Most days this is my last step in my morning routine, no extra moisturizer. My face looks natural and healthy even without applying any make-up and I find I do not breakout into an oil slick throughout the day. When applying make up with this product, I wait at least 5 minutes to ensure it is completely absorbed and my skin is dry. I find use much less make-up product with a bigger coverage/color payoff, makeup just goes on smooth and easily, but I honestly prefer using this on days I’m not wearing makeup since most of my foundations have an SPF and this product makes my skin look so good without anything extra.Shel

My current favorite primer from @purcosmetics . It’s their 4 in 1 correcting primer Energize and Rescue which contains : 1. Caffeine 2. Aloe 3. Coconut water 4. Probiotics 5. Ceretin complex (combo of retinol and ceramides) It plumps and hydrates my skin , providing a smooth canvas for makeup. I have dry skin so this primer has been my go-to. I was using the silk canvas from Tatcha , but it mattifies and makes my skin dry. Hence I have been preferring my Pur primer these days. I got this in my @boxycharm box a few months ago. My makeup looks smooth and lasts all day with this primer . I love that it contains good ingredients and is vegan friendly ,cruelty free ,paraben free ,gluten free and talc free. .nisha.m

This is a beautiful smoothing primer that creates a silky base for makeup. It fills in pores slightly, but it is not the most blurring primer on the market. It does fill in fine lines effectively. After applying this primer, my skin looks and feels very soft and smooth. It creates a silky base for makeup and foundation glides over this primer easily. This primer does cause my skin to be more oily than it usually is. I like the extra glow on the high points and perimeter of my face, but not in the T-zone. I add powder to the T-zone to counter the oiliness that this primer adds to my skin. Overall, I like the beautiful base this primer creates for makeup and I recommend it!stephanie.w

Tinted moustizer was not available for tagging. I Like this moisturizer because it does have a very light coverage and blends perfectly into the skin as long as you have the correct undertone. A little goes a long way; it has a very dewy finish which oily skin most likely will have to set and personally it's a little bit too dewy finish for my liking for an everyday look without foundation on top. Could be used as a primer to add extra coverage and blendibility to a full face. DRY SKIN WILL LOVE THISbeverly.a

In the summer I have an oily T-zone and due to a thyroid issue I also sweat pretty badly. In the summer I use the Becca matte pore less primer because it's intense! I use it with a small VERY dense BRUSH and buff it in with small circular motions. And only in the spots I sweat more or get oily really fast because it is so intense. In the fall/winter though I have dry skin but still can sweat if someone has the heat up even a few degrees higher than I keep it at my house. But because my skin is dry the Becca primer is far too intense and can dry my skin out pretty bad. So I needed something matte but not too intense. For me this was perfect. I apply it the same way as I do the Becca on the small dense brush and buff it in with small circular motions only where I need it. And it works great for me and isn't drying. This wouldn't work for me in the summer and so I doubt it will work great for someone who is super oily. For that I'd recommend Becca. It's pricey but it works. But for someone with mild oily skin or temperature sensitivity like me that can cause some sweating I'd definitely give this a try and it doesn't dry me out. I've never used it all over the face so idk about the breakouts some people have because I only use it in my very small problem areas but haven't had any issues in those areas. But for intense oil control Becca matte pore filling primer in the brown tube is definitely the way to go! It's very intense though but it definitely works! If you're willing to splurge.Hazr90

Loreal Infallible Matte Lock Primer was something I bought to apply over my moisturizer so that the moisturizer will absorb, but not mix with my face makeup and make my makeup look greasy. The tube for this product has a small opening for the product to come out of and I like that it gives a precise amount of the primer so there isn't a chance that any will be wasted. The primer is white and gives a white cast to the skin upon application. It dries down to a powdery feel type finish and the white cast fades away. I have dry skin and as I mentioned, I always have to apply a product for hydration before any primer. I found out recently I can apply matte style primers over my hydrating product and most primers hold the moisture in well and allow me to have a great canvas to apply my makeup. I found this Loreal product can be used in this way, following my hydrating product, and it made my skin soft and my other makeup applied smoothly and lasted all day. It is more drying than the other primer I normally use, even though I apply a moisturizer first. I had hoped to find a more affordable primer to use in the ways I have described in this review but I don't see myself buying this again. It is very affordable and it does give a matte look but it just doesn't give the specific look I like with my makeup.shelley.g

This is my second bottle which still lasts me for more than a year or more since life stops when Covid-19 enters our life. Otherwise the content would have finished last year. I’m just standing by with this bottle. I use it like my foundation too. Don’t hear what others say or what the label says as base acting as a primer. I’ve combination skin and initially bought because the name so hilarious-FACE BLUR!! Bought it immediately then because I would love filter like you see in camera app but real time when people look at me! My head and face didn’t turn blur but…smooth facial with pores no longer big! Totally natural look and wiping off a layer of perspiration mixed with oil, the tissue paper didn’t have the obscene foundation beige that could be embarrassing in front of your date. The paper was lightly tinted only. Fair enough, you need to cover flaws cannot expect it to be clear or translucent when wipe off. Nothing is untraceable even in a perfect crime. Okay so I have previously left a review on this product – a five star review saying how much I love how it looks on my skin blah blah – and this is still true! What I later found out, was that only the top one centimetre of the bottle was full. I had only had this for about a month, only using every second day or so, and it had started to run out. I looked inside the bottle thinking there was no way I had used that whole bottle, and saw that there was what I thought a blockage. I poked in the end of a makeup brush and hit solid plastic. There was only about 2cm of the makeup brush inside the bottle. I then cut the bottle open, it was hollow except for a very small section right near the opening which was covered with plasic – this is where the actual product was. So when the bottle says 35g instead of 35ml be suspicious, because it means its counting the whole bottles weight – not just the amount of product. Anyone who has bought this product and wants to check, there are a couple of holes in the bottom of the bottle, shine a light in one and look in the other and you can see that it is hollow.Samantha

I got the face blur in moisturizing (peach colored bottle) and I enjoy using it! There is a slightly strong fragrance upon initial application, but it quickly fades (I actually do enjoy the scent tho, but if you're sensitive, I believe this might be aggravating). It does catch on dry flakes of skin, but it evens and brightens the face. Recommend if you aren't worried about fragrance or dry flakes.Sarah

I'll start by saying that I'm really confused about the reviews on this product. I've been on a journey to find a good primer, and the outpouring of positive reviews led me here. This however, is not the one. It's thick like paste, and leaves an ever so slightly chalky residue that leaves skin super dry. I applied a tinted moisturizer over it, and it was so cakey. It did not compliment my skin at all.Mom²

First one I received was a bit dried out – like a stale marshmallow. Winky Lux has the best Customer service! Sent me a replacement- much better! This really does blur the 'lines'. I'm 66y.o. This just may be the worst primer that I have tried yet, and I have tried so many. It is definitely not formulated for oily skin. When first applying, it's very thick and oily, when drying it feels very soft yet slick. I fill in my eyebrows and this made it difficult to use the pencil and did not allow pigment to show very well. Within 2 hours of wear, my face looked like a horrible, splotchy mess. This destroyed my look and was very embarrassing, as I applied before work. My makeup just set on top of the product and never absorbed into my face, and I only used a very thin coat of primer. This product is very overpriced and the formula is awful. The packaging is cute and that's the ONLY thing it has going for it. If you have oily skin, and are looking for a product that helps your makeup last longer, skip this one! There's much better and cheaper out there.Apriella

Some of the reviews are saying that this product is oily, but I think they might be thinking of another primer from this brand. This brand has several different primers are similar, so it would be easy to get them mixed up. This particular one is not oily at all. It's slightly creamy and blurs pores well. I just use a little dab between my eyebrows and on my cheeks. I like it.Heather

* COULD NOT FIND THE CORRECT TAG* this is the freeze fave bomb primer by XXREVOLUTION. Its very pricey and retails at £15. But I personally think its worth the money because the packaging is absolutely unreal, it has a wet look to it. And the consistency to the actual primer itself it's like a think yellow gel. It's smells lovely. Once applied it feels very sticky to beggin with but after a min it soaks right into your skin giving you a slight tightening feeling but leave your skin feels soft for whatever comes next. I use this before my usual primer because its a hydrating primer. Highly reccomend.carolann.h

I love elf cosmetic products. However this blur stick didnt work for me in many ways, and I was disappointed. The product went extremely fast, which I wouldn't think it would. After about an hour of wearing the product, my face was super shiny and oily. When I tried to apply moisturizer to my skin before the product itself, it just wouldn't work out and clump. I tried this many different ways and still came out with oily mirror like skin and large pores. If you don't have that and more dry skin, this product may def. Work for you!amber.t

I really enjoy this primer. It's a pore filling and smoothing primer that comes in a twist-up stick. It's infused with witch hazel, so it does slightly mattify your skin too. This will blur your pores, smooth out fine lines, and prime your skin for makeup. It gives you a velvety base to apply your foundation on top of. It is slightly tacky too, which helps to keep your foundation from moving around. I apply this straight from the stick, and then blend it in with my fingers. Be careful not to apply too much though, because it will take forever to sink into your skin all the way. If you apply foundation on top of this primer before it has absorbed, it will make your foundation bunch up and it will break down a lot faster than it normally would. If you use it with a light hand, this will make your foundation look great.jenna.l

This is the blur effect in real life! I swear by this. I have huge pores and after doing my morning skin care I apply this all over in a nice even layer. Wait for this to dry and feel a little tacky and then apply foundation over top. This will keep your makeup from sinking in your pores and give a nice smooth look all day long.chelsea.a

I had recently purchased this about two weeks ago and it’s been an overall great experience! It does such a wonderful job of giving you a glowing, almost dewy like base. It is quite sticky at first but it does a great job of giving you a nice hydrating finish. I must say I would recommended not moisturizer right before applying this as it will create a paste. Amazing! I add a few drops to my Neutrogena Triple Moisturizer, and I am transported to My Happy Place! These 2 products together are by far my favorite!! (The triple moisturizer is the real winner though, but adding the hydro boost primer/serum just takes it to another level). I also purchased the tinted version of this primer/serum..it's nice, but definitely not the same. I think it'll be better in the summer when my makeup is more minimal. I do not wear a lot now, but I really go more bare in warmer months. I am so happy with the Hydro Boost Glow. I'm older now and fair/light skinned so the wear and tear of time are taking a toll…but this product (w/ the moisturizer) give me a glimpse back into my youth. You guys better never ever stop selling this!!! I picked this up and was extremely skeptical and I thought to myself, “this is probably just water in a bottle”, but let me tell you after just two weeks of using this day and night..not only does this leave my skin super moisturized and glowy (btw I have oily skin but this is the type of moisturized and glowy that you would want) but it got rid of my smile lines that have been around my mouth for years! LOVE, LOVE AND LOOOVE this primer. Firstly, the price point for the performance of this primer is unmatched. I usually have a hard time finding a primer that will keep my makeup in place that doesn’t have an overwhelming amount of silicone feeling or one that doesn’t help my oily/dry areas, but this one has a consistency of a silicone but feels like a silk moisturizer on your skin. It leaves just enough tack for your foundation to stick and blurs pores and redness so that foundation looks FLAWLESS. The Impossible Primer is such a welcome product in my world! I have excessively DRY Skin. I do have some pores on my face that I would like to minimize, but we Dry Skin folk usually must endure even MORE dryness in a Primer before we can smooth out pores. I also sought a Primer that would make my Foundation LAST, yet reconciled within myself that that could not happen for DRY Skin. Well, to my utter surprise, The Impossible Primer smooths out pores, AND makes any Foundation stay looking fresh much longer. It feels velvety on the skin, AND DOES NOT DRY ME OUT! This primer is so good! And it's so affordable – £6.29 RRP for 25mls of product. The primer is astonishingly SILICONE-FREE – so I literally have no idea how it performs the way it does. It's a clear, thicker jelly texture. It has a very similar texture to what you'd expect from silicone based primers. It applies and smooths onto the skin seamlessly. The second you apply it you can automatically see the mattifying effect – it literally negates all the shine/oils on the face. However it does this whilst still feeling hydrating. I also find it very pore blurring, which is a must for me. I apply it mainly in my T zone where I have the biggest pores and I get the oiliest. I also find it to be smoothing to fine lines. The reason I love this primer so much is that it doesn't interfere with my foundation. I never experience pilling or weird texture which is always a deal breaker for me. Overall 5ï¸�⃣/5ï¸�⃣ – I highly recommend this primer for anyone with oily skin, pores or texture. It's incredibly smoothing and texture improving and it's super affordable!eve.a
