Finally found the perfect cleanser for my face and skin type. I've already noticed a huge difference in overall oil reduction, texture, and clogged pores, so I'm pleased. I have combo oily/dry skin on my face, so some areas over produce oil and some areas are drier than a desert. But a couple of things I noticed about this cleanser is it works really well to unclog the oily areas and keep them moisturized a bit. After about 4 days, I did notice the salicylic acid starting to work and my face was flaking off, but that's what it's supposed to do. So I added some Jergens Ultra Healing lotion to my routine and WOW it's effective. The dry parts of my face are moist, the oily parts are moist but not oily. Would recommend.Luftherz

I received the CeraVe Acne Control Cleanser for reviewing purposes. I have combination skin nose and chin very oily, forehead is super dry rest of face is normal. I also get hormonal acne. With all that said I find this product actually whole line really great. I have only been using for about 3 weeks so I am just over the purging stage but I am seeing my pores getting smaller also not having as much redness. I switched from a physical exfoliant (scrub) to this chemical exfoliant (benzoyl peroxide). This product is much more gentle on the skin and still leaves my skin feeling soft right away. I've used the classic CeraVe foaming cleanser/moisturizer/retinol serum/night cream for years. I did a course of strong meds a year and a half ago and it cleared my skin completely. After full-time mask wearing started up again, my acne came back a bit so I decided to try this cleanser after having such good experiences with all their other products. It cleared my skin after only a few days! But be careful – I developed a painful itchy rash around my lips and mouth that took steroids to clear up because of how much this cleanser irritated that area of my face. This cleanser has to be one of the best cleansers(if not THE best) I have ever tried. Beautiful lather, cleans well, doesn't strip my skin, and seems to lessen the redness in my skin. I've tried so many cleaners and a lot of them leave me skin looking so red, hot, and irritated, but this one does the opposite. My skin feels so clean, fresh, and calm. One thing I will say is that while using this you may need to use an exfoliant maybe once a week or once every two weeks, since this cleanser is gentle and doesn't really contain any exfoliating ingredients like citric acid etc. But to be honest I think that's why my skin likes it, because my skin doesn't need an exfoliating ingredient every day. I tried this at first as a spot treatment and continued to breakout but didn't attribute this to the cleanser till I began using it on my whole face the next day. I used this product twice in one day and then felt my skin begin to burn. For the past three years, I've been using PanOxyl face wash. My physician prescribed this face wash because I was looking for something to help with my acne. I've always had reasonably clear skin, but I've always had oily skin with acne scars. After doing so many sports and sweating so much, I started getting severe acne. I started using the 10% Benzoyl Peroxide face wash on both my face and back, and I noticed a difference in both areas within a week. My acne scars started to diminish, and I saw very few pimples. Because I have incredibly sensitive skin, I was initially hesitant because my dermatologist warned me that it could irritate my skin. I've been using this product twice daily for the past three years, and my skin isn't as acne-prone. I finally feel like I've found a great face wash that makes me confident in my natural skin, which many people can't say.One of the negative aspects of this product is that it can bleach your clothing, towels, and other items, but this can easily be avoided if used cautiously. Another adverse effect of this face cleanser is that it dries out your skin, but I use a little moisturizer to prevent this. Have you tried everything to rid your face and shoulders of acne?! Well my husband has, from Clinique's new acne line to Murad Salicylic acid products and Proactive all with no improvement! Over they years we have spent endless time and $$$ trying to help his skin improve. I am so happy to say we found the holy grail in PanOxyl, while being a bit to harsh for my less oily skin it has worked wonders for his overly oily skin in just a week of use! Being that it has the highest concentration of Benzoyl Peroxide (the ingredient in proactive but has a much higher amount per bottle) you can find without a prescription makes it safe to use unlike the damaging side effects he endured using Acutane at age 19. I have him using a gel or water based moisturizer after to replace some of the moisture it removes plus sunblock as this product can cause skin to be more sensitive to harsh UV rays. It has cleared his adult acne to almost zero in just a week, I can't stress that enough. He is much happier with the results than he ever has and I'm a much happier wife knowing he feels good about his skin (and I can stop hunting for more products)! I have been using this for 18yrs and still going strong! I was using the typical “teenager” brands prior to this and when living with a couple friends just out of high school, I ran out of my usual face wash. One of my friends had this and let me use it and I have been hooked since. I have combination skin, leaning more towards oily. In winter, things get crazy dry including my skin. The rest of my body is itchy if I don’t use lotion but if I don’t put lotion on my face one day, it still feels and looks just fine. This face wash is perfection. I noticed there was a slight formula/fragrance change a couple years ago and got nervous it wouldn’t work well for me anymore but thankfully it is. I’m starting to have a hard time finding this in stores however and have started. Please please please do not discontinue this product!!Erin
i used this all throughout college and it was the BEST thing ever. i recent switched to cleansing balms because i wanted to try something new and better for travels. PROS: your makeup doesn’t stand a chance against this 1-2 pumps removed all waterproof makeup. you can have multiple layers caked on and the strongest matte lip or eyeliner — this will take it away clean feeling afterward EVERY time CONS: traveling with this was a nightmare — you cant twist the pump closed without pushing the pump down and letting product out. ended up putting it in travel containers, but i’m not a fan of doing so it does feel a little bit stripping, but not excessively so. i do have a thorough skincare regime that i follow to bring back moisture, though had a tough battle vs Lancome waterproof mascaras. i did have to massage my lashes a bit. this does not melt away makeup fast like oil-based cleansers and removers do, so don’t expect that! my reason to switch to balms was because i wanted to do a little less rubbing on my face and have something easier to pack. however, this is SUCH a solid product! i love it so much and keep some as backupdesirae.w
Not my favourite cleanser from Neutrogena for a few reasons. The BIGGEST reason I dislike this cleanser is because it is marketed towards sensitive skin….. yet for some reason the brand decided to formulate this with fragrance. Fragrance can irritate sensitive skin types so it is a little confusing as to why this product wasn’t made fragrance-free. On top of having a fragrance, the scent is comparable to household cleaners.. not really the vibe or sensorial experience I want from my skincare (if and when I want scented products). Another reason I dislike this cleanser is because it’s not very effective of removing makeup and due to the fragrance, I keep it far away from my sensitive eye area which partly defeated the purpose of a cleanser for me. Overall, I found this product stripping and irritating and I wouldn’t recommend this cleanser unless you have really resilient and oily skin that doesn’t irritate easily.dani.n

I absolutely love this cleanser, I use it every single night for my night time regime. I got it for $15.99 from ultra's website but you can buy it on the brand's site for a dollar less. I would not recommend using this if you have cystic acne. I had really bad and inflamed acne for a while and using this cleanser alone didn't do enough for me. I did not have cystic acne either. Salicylic acid is a betahydroxy acid (BHA) and is the main ingredient in this cleanser. This is definitely effective but not using it by itself. If your acne is not so severe you could probably use it alone and it will clear up but in my own experiences I had to get on a prescribed astringent medication given by my doctor. Using that along with the effacer cleanser has slowly been able to fight off my acne. Overall this cleanser is pretty amazing and is a great tool in controlling my acne. I love it and it is pretty affordable, you can't beat it!jillian.g
to keep it short i have sensitive, acne prone, dry skin. my acne was mild/ medium. i had issues with hormonal/ cystic acne that just always kept coming back no matter what. i tried this cleanser and yes my skin felt super clean, but then i noticed breakouts. i did some research and soon found out my skin was purging (i had no idea what that meant). people are not educated enough about skin purging and it is actually a good thing because it really cleanses out your pores and pushes all the dirt to the surface (causing texture, white heads and blackheads) but it gets better. it's just a whole process of really cleansing your pores and you have to be patient. i would advise you really do your research on breakouts vs skin purging when trying a new product with an active ingredient. i do really love this cleanser though, but I would've hated it if i wasn't educated on what skin purging is because id think this product is just causing breakouts.victoria
I love and adore this product If you are like me and have some sort of combination acne like, cystic but also fungal but you don't know what to do or have tried everything? This product is for you!! It took about five days of regular routine of this project as well as their other two (which I will mention) to clear my skin, this is perfect for sensitive skin like mine and combination skin as well. I start off by using this cleanser, i foam it up a dime size amount in my hands and then I wash my face and under my chin/neck, I rinse off and repeat again just to really cleanse my skin. Then I dry my skin lightly and I go in with their step two toner, I take a cotton pad with a little amount and brush it all over my flared up areas. After I use their step three benzol peroxide and lightly glaze some of the cream over my entire face(NOT EYES) This is just my nightly routine, in the morning I just wash my face with the cleanser or else it is too drying . This product also lightened my acne scarring, please try this routine and keep up with it for at least a week and I promise there will be a difference in your skin. As one who has problematic acne here and there, Differin Daily Deep Cleanser has helped me! It contains Benzoyl Peroxide and is oil-absorbing indeed! If you’re like me, however I wouldn’t recommend combining Differin with other products in your daily routine. Although this product is good for those with sensitive skin, it can severely dry out your face if you over use it or combine it with other ingredients, again as part of your daily routine. I wish this cleanser had a more pleasant scent, because although it does clean it does not feel refreshing or pleasing to the nose. I believe the gel also has helped me in more ways for pimples, it quickly dries them out and reduces redness.michelle.e
wow wow wow! my oily/sensative skin loves this! I typically use Korean skincare products in my routine, but decided to try this cleanser out because I wasnt sure when my next international order would be. Glad I tried it! I used Paula's Choice BHA Chemical exfoliant once a week for 1 year.. although I did notice a difference as my face felt cleaner the next morning, I didnt notice that my blackheads were dissolving or noticeable progress after long-time use. I decided to try this Differin cleanser also because it has Benzoyal Peroxide in it, and I tend to break out with whitehead around my nose quite often.. probably due to my oily skin and sebum production in that area. and WOW! I used this cleanser in the AM this past 3 days and the blackheads on my nose and cheek area are almost complete gone! Please don't discontinue!! I was spending over $30 for youth to the people. I have sensitive skin, clog prone, but also prone to drying out. Some cleansers break me out, some give me irritated red patches, some just don't leave me feeling cleaning, etc. This is a total replacement for the more expensive one I was using. Light, pleasant, and supposedly natural scent. Gel consistency that actually makes my face feel clean. Not so drying that my skin feels dried out. I have been a neutrogena customer for many years, and have used many of their cleansers, which as I have gotten older, were drying my skin a bit. I still have an oily T-ZONE and this cleanser cleans my pores but does not overdry my skin. It leaves it very soft. It is often out of Stock too often though and is getting hard to find. first i want to state that if you have a reaction do not blame the company. odds are you are allergic to an ingredient which is not the companies fault. If you are allergic to salicylic acid or aspirin, you will have a negative reaction when using white willow bark extract products such as this product. as the consumer you must read ingredients and if you have sensitive skin air on the side of caution. if you do have a reaction get medical help immediately and discontinue use of product, dont tell others not to buy because you were allergic to an ingredient in it. i have sensitive skin and i do have severe allergies to certain chemicals and ingredients so i did look through the list and not only was everything naturally derived but it had nothing that would cause me to react. after 2 months of using this my skin looks flawless. its so gentle at removing makeup without stripping my skin. i use in the morning and at night. i hope they continue to have this around as i will continue to buy it. the people giving it low ratings and stating they are having burning are suffering an allergic reaction to an ingredient. my guess is its the white willow bark.VioletVixen

I am a 63 year old woman and visit an aesthetician every 5-6 weeks for retinol facials. My aesthetician always cleanses my face prior to treatment. One day I asked what she was using and she said Revision facial wash. Before I left she gave me a couple sample packs of Revision Brightening Facial Wash to try at home. My aesthetician instructed me, only use as I can handle as some people report a little sensitive to it. I am happy to report that sensitivity is not my experience with this product. It took such a small amount to lather my face and spread across my neck. For me, the effect after washing with this facial wash, is soft smooth feeling skin. I was introduced to this product during a facial. I never believed in toners before just a good cleanser and then straight to serums, moisturizer and tinted moisturizer with sunscreen. I immediately loved it! My skin felt tighter, soothed, and the glow was amazing. When I got home I two and use it twice daily. One of my favorite things to purchase is sets or bundles of products. Most times I can get a better value and try a product with little risk, compared to MSRP individual prices. PCA is great at bundling products that work well together. I lean towards gentle, moisturizing facial washes and this cleanser is just that. It has decent suds action without feeling stripping afterwards. I like to use stronger products at night but the nutrient toner is great for morning routines. It says that this is for all skin types, but I disagree. I have sensitive skin. When I have a reaction to a product, my eyelids become very swollen, red, itchy, dry and flakey. The PCA facial wash did this to me. To make sure it was this specific product, I went back to what I had been using, allowing my skin to calm down for 3 weeks. I used no makeup, no toner, no serums. Just my old cleanser and moisturizer, that's it. I reintroduced the PCA cleanser and within 2 days my eyelids were very swollen, red, itchy, dry and flaky. It is definitely the PCA facial wash. This might be a good product for normal skin; but if you have sensitive skin you might want to try something else.Heidi
Though this cleanser is good, I feel it’s still too harsh to use after a peel. I 100% prefer to creamy cleanser to the facial wash for post-peel care. It isn’t as harsh as the Facial Wash Oily/Problem, but I don’t see this as a suitable cleanser after such an abrasive service. I've been using this every day for 2 months and can say it keeps my pores clean and fresh feeling. I haven't noticed a difference in the brightness of my skin and the scent is awful. If I had to describe, it smells like old car engine mixed with menthol. Some would probably say it smells like eucalyptus (a family member thought it smelled like this) but I think it's far from it. I have combination skin prone to breakouts on the cheeks and chin, and quite bad blocked pores/blackheads on my cheeks. This cleanser has been a savour! It smells of grapefruit which I like and has slowly been working magic on my skin – I've had various people comment on how clear and glowy I am looking! Over only a week my skin is in much better condition, and definitely less redness too! The blocked pores are diminishing in size and for the first time in forever, my skin doesn't feel itchy/breakout when wearing makeup. I've been using this morning and evening, but if I feel as if my skin is a little dry then I'll drop to once a day. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is that this is a little harsh for my skin, and I have to be real quick at applying moisturiser after using as cheeks and nose otherwise get really dry and flaky. I've had to change to a slightly more intense moisturiser but it's worth it for the overall improvement in my skin (LA Roche-Posay hydrating mask is so good for putting moisture into the skin but not blocking pores) .Rosie
Very nice chemical exfoliating cleanser. This is my favourite of this type. Affordable price (when in discount around 5euros) and very effective even for the most sensitive skin. I use it with clarisonic or foreo and I really enjoy the exfoliating experience. It's foamy but leaves my skin so clean! When my skin needs a more gentle exfoliating step I use it alone without the brushes and works as a charm. I use a very tiny amount so the bottle lasts for ages! Worth to give it a try if suits your skin! I just finished my bottle and I think it lasted me 5 months or more! I'll need to find a good deal for it now 🙂giuseppe.a
I bought this along with Nip & Fab's nighttime glycolic fix and both have been a big disappointment. To be fair, I don't generally have oily skin, but this stuff just dried my skin out quite a bit without leaving it feeling any smoother or clearer. I don't have acne or anything- just the occasional zit and unevenness that I'm trying to address in the medium to long-term. Olive-toned skin. I do use some face washes that leave my skin feeling a little dry (but not to the point of feeling tight- just slightly ashy if I don't follow with a toner), but they ALSO leave my skin feeling very smooth and soft and a little toner and serum easily get rid of the dryness. However, it's weird to have just the dryness without the positive effects! Like with the nighttime gel, I can't help but doubt the claimed glycolic acid content. I've used other weaker glycolic products with much more noticeable and immediate results, and neither of these nip & fab products feels like it has any glycolic to me. They don't tingle at all. This is a great easy scrub. It smells very refreshing and is gentle. It is not drying at all. My skin feels very plump after use. You can definitely smell the witch hazel and the bark. I also love the way it is in a pump bottle. It’s very convenient. Only downside- is that I do expect it to go pretty fast- just because of its size. But, you are getting a lot of benefits. I actually was lucky to be a part of the pop-up event in Dallas Northpark a few weeks ago (simple because I saw everyone being handed free popsicles – !Lol) I wasn't sure what was happening but a very nice rep walked me through the experience and I was sold almost immediately. The skin care brand that I was using prior was acquired by another conglomerate and their composition of their products changed vastly (I could not understand why I was breaking out again after I thought I had found "the one"). Anyway – the rep recommended products based on my needs and I did hesitate initially because I too work sales and I know a good pitch when I hear one! But when I tell you my skin has transformed drastically. I've grown up with acne all my life and my face has never been this smooth / breakout free. To preface, I have fair skin that is pretty sensitive and prone to dryness and occasional hormonal acne. My go to cleansers are Dermologica Daily Microfoliant and Vanicream gentle face wash. Decided to add this product to my rotation after dealing with a couple of stubborn hormonal/maskne breakouts and being recommended this brand by a friend. Due to the high % of salicylic acid, i only used it 2-3 times a week. After about a month, I began to suffer from some of the worst breakouts i have EVER experienced in my life on my temples, cheeks and chin which i am just now starting to recover from after 6 weeks. I think the mix of salicylic acid and tea tree oil is way too irritating and i would not recommend it to anyone that has sensitive skin.Sarah
I am very skeptical of all products that claim to help acne because I have never found one that actually worked…. until I met THIS. I have oily skin, and have since I was a teen. Being postpartum, I have had random breakouts that seem to never end. This product has not only kept my skin breakout free no matter the fluctuation of hormones, but it gives me the most gorgeous glow every single day. This cleanser has a gel like consistency, it is cooling when you apply. I have used it as a mask and a cleanser. I have used it for several weeks and haven't noticed a difference in skin improvement. My skin also didn't feel clean after using this. I have used this on my bare skin and when I have make up on. If washing off make up, I feel that you should still double cleanse. I read reviews about how this product hasn't worked on dark spots or discoloration. I know this product contains niacinamide, however it is a rinse off. It may be worth trying a niacinamide serum. It did slightly dry out my skin, I have pretty dry skin. I always recommend for people to try it out because it might just work for you.Missingcoffee
I LOVE this cleanser. I like gel cleansers that feel smooth and gentle, don’t strip my skin, don’t leave behind a filmy feeling, but leave my skin soft, and this is the perfect one for me. I use it on wet skin (you can use it dry but I don’t like the feel) first thing every morning and as a second cleanser at night after removing my makeup. It very lightly emulsifies but feels so silky, and I always leave it on for a few minutes before washing it off like a quick mask (even recommended on the bottle), and my face is so soft, smooth and brightened! I even feel like my toner, serum and moisturizer absorb better and my face stays smooth all day. Everyone’s skin is different, but for mine I can’t find anything I’d want to improve.Megan
I was so excited for this brand, and this cleanser in particular, to launch in the UK and it didn't disappoint! I think it's a great morning/second cleanse. It's super gentle but effective and lathers up nicely. Normally products that foam up irritate my skin and leave my face feeling dry, but this is nice and hydrating. The pump is great and the bottle is a decent size too! I love the texture, it feels quite luxurious considering it's a more reasonably priced cleanser. I don’t know how they do it but I am so in love with this cleanser! Most acne washes have dried my face out and actually caused more harm to my skin because of how sensitive my skin is. However, this wash is such a miracle cleanser for me! I have PCOS and get hormonal acne and while I have been watching my diet, this cleanser has been the perfect addition to help cleanse and clear my face! I love the texture of the wash, it feels super silky and a little goes such a long way as it lathers super well. I tried this cleanser out for 4 months, and it destroyed my skin barrier. I don't have bad acne, just a couple spots on my face, and the reviews said it wasn't drying, so I thought I would give it a shot. However, it was the worst decision, and I regret buying this! It actually gave me more acne in places I never used to have it before, probably due to overproduction of oil to combat the dryness of my skin. Please only use this if you need acne control. i have always always ALWAYS had acne to some degree. I had it as a teen and I get it as an adult during my cycle. When I started using the Gentle Acne Cleanser, my skin cleared straight up, and it remained that way until I ran out and had to use a fill- in from a local natural store. I got a facial yesterday and she recommended this after she used it on me and she gave me samples and I bought it. She said it was better than using warm water for my perioral dermatitis. She said it bubbles and puts oxygen in my pores to kill bacteria and remove oil. My face felt like someone vacuumed out my pores like all the blackheads on my nose and enlarged oil glands on my forehead. My dermatologist recommended this product to me when I was having terrible acne during the pandemic. I do like this cleanser. My derm told me it has enzymes in it, and it balances your skin. It foams a little bit as you are using it, as long as you use enough. I personally feel like this isn’t a “soapy” cleanser. It doesn’t strip your skin at all. Just a good balancing cleanser in general, but it is a little pricey for what it is in my opinion. However, it does last a long time. I was recently diagnosed with severe rosacea and my dermatologist had me stop using all of my beautiful products and put me on an extremely limited, streamlined routine with five essential products she chose plus prescriptions. For cleanser, she chose this. I’ve always had very sensitive, reactive skin, so I’ve avoided fragrance and certain ingredients my whole life, but I still wasn’t used to such a basic, bare bones cleanser/ product. I wasn’t sure at first, but now I actually really like it. It foams very nicely; it has a very light, natural, almost cucumber/ spa- like scent; it removes my SPF and light makeup (I haven’t tested it against heavy eye makeup yet); it leaves my skin feeling clean, calm and comfortable, and it seems to tame my redness a bit. I am concerned about using this twice a day moving forward though and especially in the winter. I will be asking about that. But, so far, it’s been great for my skin and I’ve been happy with it.christine.r
