I was given this as part of a gift set, so l thought l would give it ago and mix up my skincare regimen. I’ve not used a facial oil before so wasn’t sure what to expect. I was very surprised that it is light weigh and is non greasy after applied. Easy to use and it absorbs fairly quickly into my skin. I don’t think I’ve used it for long enough to see much difference with regards to it helping with fine lines and wrinkles. But it does leave my skin feeling nice and soft. It’s meant to be used both morning and night as part of your skincare routine. But I’ve opted to use this just in the evening before bed, followed by my night cream. If l had drier skin l would probably use it twice a day as it recommended, as I think this product is targeted more to individuals with dry skin. I bought this a couple weeks ago. I’ve used it about 4 times a week since then. The oil quality itself is nice, especially because I have dry skin and it gives a nice even layer of hydration without feeling super heavy. But I do agree with a lot of these other reviews about the smell. The most accurate smell I can assign it is raw chicken, which is worrying considering this is supposed to be a vegan product. I also have a hard time believing that they tested this on humans and there wasn’t at least one person who pointed out the smell? It’s also something my husband notices when kissing my face, that it smells bad (at least he’s honest haha). But yeah, definitely recommend that the ordinary changes up this recipe, because the smell will deter me from getting this product again.SydKat
I will start off by saying the product feels nice; the only reason I gave it a 2 star. I am just so upset at the smell. I was hesitant in purchasing this since many reviews said it was smelly. I thought, ‘oh it couldn’t be that bad’ and I was wrong. Not only does the smell linger on the face, but I had to use a nail scrubber to scrub under and on top of my nails to get the smell out. Even a couple of hours later and sever hand washings, I can still smell traces of it on my hands. I may sound a bit dramatic, but I heavily gagged when smelling my hands after application. I have dry (not dehydrated) skin on my nose, it's always flaking and no amount of moisturiser and Vaseline was helping so I needed an oil. After some research… okay after watching some YouTube videos I decided on Borage oil. I read the reviews and didn't think much about the fishy smell that others had mentioned, it'd be fine. When it arrived I couldn't really smell anything, maybe a slight musky or foisty scent but nothing fishy. Did a patch test, of course, and the following evening applied some to my dry nose. Now I was getting a stronger scent…. slightly off fish fingers maybe, or the time we got either pollock or haddock fish fingers instead of cod. It was fine though, it wasn't too strong and I woke up with zero flaky skin on my nose, brilliant. The following evening I applied this again and oh my goodness the fish smell is stronger. You know how sometimes a smell grows on you, well this does the opposite. It's not just slightly off fish fingers now, it's foisty fish. At this point I'm looking at the 30ml of oil I've bought and I'm having regrets but I refuse to waste product. I reapply, I feel slightly nauseous, but I wake up with zero flakes again. It doesn't help that I'm applying this to my nose, in particular around my nostrils, but that's where I get dry. The skincare gods are mocking me. I've been using this for a week now and I'm torn. It's a great oil for dryness, I've used it on my cheeks and it doesn't trigger my rosacea either. But the smell. I call it fish oil. Mixing it in with a moisturiser doesn't help either, it smells just as bad but doesn't work as good. If you have a poor sense of smell, or if you like the smell of fish (does anyone???) you won't have a problem. I can't give this a low rating, it's a really nice light oil and is great for dry skin, but I can't give it 5/5 as I shudder slightly whenever I reach for it and wash my hands thoroughly afterwards.Sarah C

As a new user of this product, I have been very impressed indeed. Before we even consider the serum itself, it is well worth spending a moment or two to consider the beautiful bottle and its innovative dispenser. I absolutely love the appearance of this product. It's blue, glass bottle would look stylish and eye catching in any bathroom or bedroom. It's certainly not one that you feel you want to hide away in a cupboard! I love the pipette for measuring the serum. It works perfectly every time and is a fool-proof way of measuring out just the right amount without wasting a drop. The scent of this serum is perfect for use at bedtime. It smells very calming and relaxing: just like a sleep elixir. The serum itself, is light and not greasy on the skin although it does leave my face looking slightly shiny just after use. I have naturally dry skin and initially tried using it on its own, thinking that I would probably have to add it to my usual face cream. After the first few days of use, I thought it wasn't really making much difference but after about a week of use, I noticed that dry patches on my face were actually reducing in size. Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate is a facial oil designed for use overnight. The packaging is classic Kiehl's vintage style. A blue glass bottle with a really handy glass pipette, with a button at the top to draw up the oil. My typical evening skin care routine is a double cleanse, followed by a retinol cream or oil then a moisturiser. If I need an extra hydration boost I sometimes use a mist between cleanser and serums. I also use a more intensive face mask once or twice a week that I leave over night. So I wasn't really sure where to put this facial oil in my routine. Looking at the ingredients list, it says it is 99.4% natural, so really seems more like an essential oil treatment rather than an advanced skin care. I'm in my mid-30s so need more powerful ingredients to focus on complexion, fine lines and more radiant looking skin. So I opted to use the Kieh's Midnight Recover Concentrate a few hours after my evening skin care routine just before falling asleep. So layered over my moisturiser. It felt quite oily, but doesn't leave your skin oily in the morning, and absorbs quite well. I cannot say I noticed any immediate difference after a few weeks of use. The smell is pleasant, but not particularly strong, so it doesn't provide an essential oil aromatherapy boost. This is a very light product which absorbs easily. It has a delicate pleasant scent, and my skin feels very nourished once applied. It uses a blend of natural ingredients and seed/ plant/ flower oils including pelargonium flower, rosa damascena flower, lavender oil, coriander seed oil, jojoba seed oil, rosemary leaf oil and evening primrose oil. It also includes squalane which mimics your skin's natural oils and shea butter which acts as an anti-inflammatory and moisturiser. I already have rather oily skin, so it does feel counter productive to add an oil-based product to my face, but I do feel like my skin is glowing and that my skin tone has balanced out- I have some acne scars and thread veins which feel less visible. However, the test will come once the winter arrives, as my white skin has some summer colouring to it at the moment. My skin is often dehydrated so this compliments it too. It is preservative free and is mineral oil free, which I am thankful for. Mineral oil has always irritated my skin, so I typically have trouble finding beauty products without this ingredient. I have eczema and my son has dry skin. It's hard to find good products for our skin or cocoa butter sticks in the store. I use this oil on my baby after a bath and during the day once if needed. His skin calms down and does look dry. Also makes my baby a happy baby. I like the product is not too oily to the point his clothes are stained. Once you put it on and rub it in, it gives our skin a hydrated look and not an ashy look. I will be buying more from now on and keeping on one me on the go. I see a difference and feel a difference. I used to to the Palmer's Acne Soap bar, but during pandemic I had trouble getting more. So I tried Neutrogena products (the water based line since I have OILY skin) my skin got WORSE. I had very big breakouts all over my face and neck. It hurt and it was terrible. I ready your skin has to purge when you switch facecare products. I kept looking to see when the acne var would be available again. So in the meantime I got SO many Palmer's products. I now use the Skin Success line: Deep Cleaning Astringent, Complexion Toner, Anti-Acne Medicated Complexion Bar, Anti Dark Spot Complexion Bar, Dark Spot Correcting Facial Cleanser, Anti Dark Spot Fade Cream for Oily skin during the day and the Anti Dark Spot Fade Cream for Night. I even use the Skin Therapy Face Oil and the Moisture Rich Night Cream. I started feeling real relief at the 4 week mark or reincorporating these products. I noticed at the 5 week mark my skin feels so supple and smooth. I'm seeing more overall skin clarity. I still have the dark spots from my acne (I think I need a good facial or two to get rid of that) but no new acne has come! My skin is really coming along again and I will never stray. I just wish Palmer's made a sunblock and eye cream. I still use a Neutragena sun block though. So it's hard to say if any one product helped me since I basically use it all! I even use the Purifying Enzym Mask once a week. The toner and astringent are great for when I go camping and find it difficult to wash my wash. So much dirt comes off! I know technically you are supposed to use this as a facial cleanser and moisturizer but I use this as just a regular facial oil. I love this oil, or better said; the scent of it. This almond oil is not bad at all but honestly it didn't do much for my skin. When I use it on my hands it works well but doesn't do a lot for the rest of my body. Feels oily, then 20 minutes or so after I apply it my skin starts to get dry again and for the price of it I can't keep reapplying hours after I shower. Now, the fragrance of this almond oil is really incomparable. I fell in love with its scent the moment I tried it, it's the only reason why I keep buying it to be honest. Also, I must say I found a way of using it on my body and get the results I want; I mix a little of L'Occitane Almond Oil with the Neutrogena Fragrance Free Body Oil which happens to work perfectly for me without leaving my skin feeling oily and then drying out after a while. Trust me when I say that those two mixed together work amazingly well. I get the scent of L'Occitane and the moisturizing effect of Neutrogena. This Oil is amazing. To get the best use from this product, First: apply an unscented body cream all over your body. This should be applied on damp skin when you are fresh out of the shower. Then, Apply a small amount of the oil on the entire body, you don’t need a lot of this product (1 or 2 spritzes will work). This will allow for the scent to linger on your whole body and you’ll also receive the hydrating benefits from the oil. Make sure not to lay down or anything right after application. You’ll need to give the oil 15 minutes to absorb fully into the skin, then you can go about your activities. A true hidden gem. There’s no clout or social media influence on fresh products ever, they have poor advertising & marketing. (Please stay that way because if everyone knew how good this stuff was it would never be in stock.) I’ve been using this since 2015/2016 when Sephora sold it out as a mini Christmas ornament gift. I really wanted to love this product. I love Fresh products because it doesn’t exacerbate my sensitive skin. I was looking for a face oil that hydrated my skin at night and gave me a nice radiant glow when I’m not wearing any makeup in the daytime. My skin is usually combination, but it’s more on the dry, slightly textured side at the moment. Some reviewers couldn’t handle the smell and to be fair, it was quite jarring the first couple days of use. The more I use it, it smells more like an herbal plant mixed with the smell of a freshly opened bag of dried berries. The smell dissipates within the hour, but so does the face oil. I feel like it dried onto my skin so fast and left it looking dull and dry even with the rest of my skincare mixed in. I love the ingredients and the uses for this face oil, but I didn’t see anything others claimed to see: increased hydration, brightness, and tightness. I have hormonal acne that flares up around my chin and nose if I eat something my body is sensitive to, like dairy or some grains. I've tried every cleanser, spot cream, mask, etc. and none seem to have had the same impact as this oil. I saw results very early on after using this consistently, morning and night on clean skin. It's not only reducing my flareups, it seems to be erasing some of my very long-term acne scars that I no longer have to cover up with concealer. I wanted this system to work SO badly for me. I really truly did. So much so that I spent about a grand trying these products out for over a year. I thought maybe if I splurge for some expensive products with premium natural ingredients, my skin might just clear up. So I started with the cleanser, oil, repair serum, and toner. I even added the vitamin C powder and chebula when it came out, hoping it would make a dent in my acne and dark spots. I've struggled with acne for over 20 years and it's extremely stubborn, so I shouldn't have expected any miracles, but I still got my hopes up. I honestly didn't see much change after a year of using this stuff. I did supplement with AHA/BHA and oil cleanser to remove makeup. Having said that, I can tell the formulation is very very high quality and wish I could justify the price. If it worked I would gladly pay the money. I think if your problem is just dry skin and fine lines, TB is probably really really great for that. But for acne sufferers with stubborn acne, I don't know if this is it.
I really wanted to like this product! I love the idea of True Botanicals being non-toxic and good for the environment. Olivia Wilde and I seem to have similar skin types, so I switched over from my Skinsceuticals regime to their Clear system. I was excited by the before and after photos and the effect this could have on my post-acne dark spots. I used to have serious acne, but then I did accurate and for the past two years, I’ve had clear skin, with post-acne marks. After the first week of trying the system, my skin started breaking out and I figured this was the 4-6 week purging/adjustment period. Now, it’s been 6 weeks and it’s still breaking out. Since I t’s past their return period, I’m stuck with an almost $200 collection of products that simply don’t work on my skin. I’ll spend the holidays under a thick layer of makeup hoping I don’t have to go on accutane again. First time trying jojobo oil and I think among all the different oils out there, this oil is special. Have had severe and I mean very severe hair fall for the last 3-4 months and tried all remedies I possibly could. The last few days have been using a loonie sized amount at the roots, along the lengths and the tips of my hair. When I followed the same routine with other oils, there would be a clump of hair in my hand at the end of the process of just simply oiling, but not in this case. The jojoba is working for me. I know I’m using a tad more than what’s ideal but I intend to repair my hair at all costs even if it weighs it down a bit. It does not make hair super greasy if you use a smaller amount though but there’s definitely a shine or glossiness- more of a healthy look- that I was lacking earlier. Love love LOVE this product! You can't go wrong with jojoba oil. It's healthy for your skin and amazing to use for about anything related to skincare. There’s a HUGE misconception that oil-based products are highly comedogenic and will clog your pores, but since jojoba oil is BASED on your skin’s natural oil production, it’s actually really good for your skin! How I use jojoba oil: After washing my hair, when it’s damp I will add 2-3 drops of oil onto my scalp for more hair growth. I also will run my hands through my hair to rid the excess amount of oil on my hands. It’s SO good as a shaving moisturizer!! After I shave literally anywhere, my armpits, arms, legs, even down there— I’ll add a few drops to jojoba oil. This really helps prevent razor bumps for me, and bumps down there as well. I had been searching Everywhere for a new moisturizer that was an inexpensive light oil or serum; whose got the $ for trials & damaging errors. Moving from a humid climate to a dry climate wreaked havoc. Both climates I sweat like crazy but after moving, gels & lotions started to sit & feel crusty on my face. Icky! They recommend mixing but it is amazing in itself. Hydrating & light with a great glow that really lasts. It repaired the blemishes that I had and keeps new ones at bay. I don't usually write reviews, but I wanted to share this because I found another use for this that has results so far above what I expected from a complete experiment. The oils for hair out there are either heavy or have fragrance, which I'm extremely sensitive too. I had a large bottle of this squalane oil for use on my face and body, but decided, what the heck, why not see how it works. I can't believe it. I have long hair that is dyed, and I want to keep it long. Anyone who has been in that position knows the lower half can start to get dried out …. it's hard to hold onto length as you age. But then I tried this, lightly coating my hands and smoothing over the lower portion, from about to my ears down to the ends on wet, just-shampooed hair, and then a light swipe with my hands with the residual oil on the top to help with flyaways. Then I briefly blow dry to seal the hair cuticle. I don't need the comments of people (but it has been nice) to know the nourished, healthy look my hair now has. With no effect on the color at all. I wanted to pass this along. It is so lightweight and fabulous, I use on my face, arms, hands and legs, and now hair! So happy to find this product that feels clean and nourishing. Thank you!Tracy M.
I absolutely love this oil instead of a moisturizer! Always leaves my skin feeling fresh and moisturized. At the first your skin might seem oily but give it like 10 minutes and it absorbs. Best thing to do before putting any makeup on and it just blends so well with my concealer! I can’t say enough! I finally found a brand that works for my 58-year-old skin. Products that all work so well together. When I look at ingredients from another skincare company, PTR has the same, but for half the price. Still expensive, but you get results that show and do reverse aging. I added this to my routine about 6 months ago. I add a few drops to my Drench Cream and it does not sit on top of your face, but when added to Drench, doubles the effects, and I am a happy camper! This small bottle lasts a very long time, so pre cost, a great value as it only allows a few drops needed to make it the correct amount so no loss of product. I have a huge smile and with that comes expressions lines (Have taken care of my skin since High School) and have seen a noticeable softening of those expression lines vastly improve over the two years I have added to my PTR line. Ive cleared my very acne-prone skin from all the cystic breakout cycles it goes through and have been looking for a good facial oil ever since (specifically with jojoba). I have pretty dry skin with some oily patches and using this at night has been amazing. Absorbs very well, no irritating scent, and doesn't feel clogging or greasy at all. I love Peach and Lily products! I started with the glass serum and slowly bought their entire collection. However, this product made me break out. My skin became covered with little bumps. As soon as I ran out and didn't restock, all of those small bumps went away. This may work for you if you are on the dry side, however if you are on the oily side, skip this step! Seriously, I do not use Holy Grail lightly. I'm early 40s, combination skin. A lot of oils are too heavy for me, to the point where I dilute them in serum or cream.
