As a primer, this Elf product works well. My makeup color and blush show up better. As a toner, I did not see a change in the tone of my skin. I have pink tones and really string purplish dark circles under my eyes and that did not change. I do notice if I do not use a primer, it’s hard to see my blushes, but when I used the Elf toner primer, you can see the blush and the actual foundation shade. I first used this primer after having ran out of my higher end beauty store primer and needing a quick drug store one to use. It got the job done to the point I ended up using it for a couple years thereafter. It left my skin feeling very smooth and poreless but it was a bit thick and sometimes caused pilling when used with certain moisturizers. My makeup did not go on as evenly as it does with my usual $40+ primer but for the price point I think it worked well. I have noticeable pores and being 47 years of age and now learning there is more to make-up than just base, powder, lipstick and eyeliner. Now we prime, add base, add concealer, add powder, low light, highlight, blend and set. We contour, add bronzers etc. etc without wamting to look like we have cakey makeup that looks like cement. I wasn't too sure if I was going to like this primer. I thought that it would either be too mattifying, or not mattifying enough. This worked well to smooth out and somewhat blur pores. I mainly have combo skin, so mostly applied this in the T-zone. It lasted through most of the day, and it didn't get too greasy or oily either. I did touch up once during the day l, and that was it. This primer is pretty hydrating for dry skin, I did have to apply a face mist throughout the day but that might’ve been due to the temperature here. It is very illuminating on its own when I first applied some I thought it would be too shiny but once I added foundation and everything on top it was toned down. It's great if you want to look like a vampire from Twilight with literally sparkling skin, but also look greasy and highlight all your flaws. Every little pore and wrinkle was magnified by this primer, and I looked and felt super greasy. Burt's Bees goodness glows primer hydrates and illuminates. I do find that it is hydrating and Illuminating. The area is where I put it on my face could be called Dewey. That's why I don't actually use it all over my whole face but more as a highlighter. I like that it is natural and uses Botanicals. No cruelty to animals and eco-friendly. You all, this primer here is a GAME CHANGER! I’ve used some of the higher end brands and they just DO NOT compare. This stuff literally shrinks your pores and give you a such a smooth finish and lay with your makeup. Every time I use this everything just lays in a synchronized way. I pray NYX never gets rid of this product. I just might have to buy up the entire stock whenever I go to my nearest target to purchase just to be on the safe side. I received this in a subscription box at some point and it had been put away in a box of beauty samples. I came across some of these today and decided to try them out. This one is a nice formula, it's creamy and super pigmented. I just wasn't super in love with it, but I can't point to any specific reason why, so I won't remove any stars for that. The reason for the missing star is that it is not very long lasting. I put this on in my bedroom to try it out and within 10 minutes of me just cleaning up my vanity I already would have needed to reapply in the real world. I have an oily tzone. So I use a matte primer in my tzone. I had been using Hourglass Mineral Veil and had heard this formula was so similar. I would say is is very much like HG. I used the whole bottle. It did hold back oils. I didn't use it on my normal skin. I use something more moisturizing. This primer was a major let-down. It claims to do many things such as minimize pores, smooth fine lines, control excess oils, improve wear of makeup, but I found that it did no such thing well at all. It is marketed as sort of a "jack of all trades" primer, but it is certainly no master of anything in particular. It did give a slightly smoother appearance to my skin after make up was applied, but its oily consistency never really "dried" on my face or soaked in. I use an anti-aging serum (which fully absorbs into my skin and leaves a matte finish), and I expected this supposedly lightweight primer to layer appropriately. Instead, I was left with an oily base on which to apply my foundation. Whatever, I thought, maybe it sets better later on. However, it made my foundation look bad and watered down. I noticed it did not have the medium coverage it normally has. As far as prolonging wear, I could not tell because my coverage was so light, it was hard to tell if it faded or not over the day. I think my makeup transferred just as badly as it would have with NO primer. I had to use several blotting sheets over the course of the day. I do have very oily skin, but I guess I thought it would have SOME type of oil control. It does not. Did not work for me at all and not worth the money considering you can get mattifying primers that have good collateral effects like pore/line smoothing for around the same price per ounce. I understand this is not marketed as a mattifying primer but it does list oil control as one of it's "effects." = not true. Bought this only yesterday after reading lots of positive reviews; sadly, I have to disagree. It has left my face very flat, looking dehydrated and cakey looking. I've used alongside my usual, The Ordinary serum foundation, which gives a great natural glow; but not with this primer! Sad that I paid £9 for it and won't be using it again. I bought both this and the Pacifica Cherry Matte Mattifying Primer to see how well they worked at reducing shine. The Pacifica product was meh (unless you want to still look "glowy") but this product was amazing. Just the tiniest bit patted on my fingertip is enough to completely get rid of any shine, and it lasts longer than anything else I've ever used. It needs to be lightly patted onto the skin, not smeared on. Use it very, very sparingly and one tiny jar will last for months. I hope they never stop selling this!Nature Lover
I have been searching far and wide for a dupe for my Hydrablur Primer by Dermalogica because it is one of my HG but I order it online and it is expensive. I found this product and the ingredient list is simple yet effective & non-comedogenic (a big plus for me)! This product creates a smooth base and fills in the textures I want. I scoop out a small amount with a tiny spoon and warm the product on my fingertips before applying to my t-zone, chin, and smooth out on my cheeks. I recommend having your skin moisturized well before using this product!! If I notice that there are some areas on my face that need more product, I light dab a tiny amount and work the product in. This product is in a cute container that is very portable, but on that note, for the price point and amount of product given it is kind of pricey for what you get. UPDATE (3-3-21) I don't like the fact that even a tiny amount makes my liquid and my mineral powder foundation appear like my skin is peeling off where I've applied this. I've used it a total of 3 times now, using only the tip of my pinky finger and then only a tiny amount with a Q-Tip. I have only used this with Loreal's Pro-Matte foundation and their mineral foundation. It's a tiny jar for the price you pay! Holy Moley! It's a very smooth, satiny, or even silky, almost delicate texture. So, I'm on the fence about the Magic Perfecting Base Primer. I decided to purchase the Infallible Matte foundation to see if it would hell keep my face looking good or at least prevent the foundation from making my skin look dry. I applied a very tiny amount to key areas i would like to cover (forehead, smile lines, tiny line on my chin, nose..)and I waited a good 10 minutes or longer before I applied the foundation. This product has become an essential in my make up routine. It's honestly the best primer I have ever used and really does what it says it does. I start to get an oily forehead as the day wears on but with this primer applied in the morning after my moisturizer my skin stays looking matte and my make up looks fresh all day. It absorbs into skin quickly, is non greasy or oily and feels like silk on my skin. The pores around my nose look smaller and less noticeable and my complexion overall looks more flawless. My skin is left feeling refreshed, soft and hydrated after applying this primer. I love that this primer is hydrating too as my skin is normally quite dry. I combined this primer with the Fix It Forget It setting spray and noticed a massive difference in how long my make up lasted, it stayed in place all day keeping any shine at bay and my make up looking great. This is a great primer which is designed to mattify your complexion and reduce pore size. Whilst I found this was the case I was impressed that the primer itself felt very moisturising on application and didn't feel tight afterwards. My skin in normal to dry and on the mature side. It would be interesting to see how this works for more oilier skins but the initial moisturising effect didn't feel greasy afterwards so I think the Lancome labs have delivered something that works well for all skin types, as it is promoted. I was also impressed that even though this gave a mattifying effect that it also lent a radiance too. I expected a dull look and as I prefer a more glowing complexion which I feel at my age works better, the mattifying effect wasn't at the cost of radiance. For me I think I would use this more for evening wear as I prefer a glowing look but for the evening it would give a more polished look. It also helped my makeup to stay on longer, with the additional help of the new Lancome Fix it & Forget it setting spray.Karen76
I have combination skin which means it can end up very oily with make-up oxidising and either melting or sitting on my skin in patches. This primer does keep that at bay and I found my make up does stay in place all day. I don't like the feel of make up/too many products on my skin. This wasn't too bad for the majority of the day, I don't feel like I was wearing thick layers of products. Like any product I am aware towards the end of the day that I want to wash that make up feel off but in general I found it works well with my skin and it's nice my make-up lasted for a change and not too heavy a feeling of wearing it. If you don't have naturally smooth skin it just doesn't work. It's nice at first when you put it on but if you try to put foundation over it, it starts peeling off. It flakes off. I don't understand it! It's like once it dries onto your face, you can't touch it or mess with it or it will literally come off of your face easily. It definitely blurs pores and looks matte but.. it's not the best when it comes to staying on your face. And after a few hours it'll start to look cakey no matter how much you use. I began my subscription to Ipsy recently, feeling out of place because I am significantly older than their target audience. Through that I've received many different primers. Benefit Cosmetics Hydrating Primer leaves the competition in its rear view mirror. It feels luxuriously moisturizing immediately upon application, which, in turn, improves the evenness of your foundation. My makeup looks as good at 5pm as it did at 8am when I applied it. I can't imagine a product that would be better than this. It is everything you could ask for, an more, in that beautiful little tube!
I am so glad it's not just me… I bought this stuff because it says it's hydrating. It doesn't really provide hydration IMO. What it DOES do is make my foundation look TERRIBLE. It starts to roll up and peel as I'm applying foundation and concealer. My face looks terrible. And then I tried drawing on my brows with a pencil and stuff started peeling off of my brows! Okay first off let me just say I was really skeptical about all the reviews saying they saw result after the first use…but WOW they weren't lying! This is like magic in a bottle, I'm not exaggerating at all (maybe a little). I have been using it on and off for a few weeks and what a difference it makes to my skin texture! I get this little bumps on my forehead that I assume are dead skin that got stuck and this stuff has completely got rid of them. Not to mention my overall complexion just looks a bit more even. I have sensitive skin and I'm surprised this hasn't cause any irritation, it's really quite gentle on my skin and I haven't had any issues or reactions. I did not like this primer at all. I needed to order more primer and grabbed this as a stand-in, and I had three pimples coming up by the end of the day. Additionally, my makeup was practically melting off of my face after just a few hours, which normally does not happen. Also, it made my pores look huge, and they’re not! My skin is generally pretty fine-textured but I looked like a citrus fruit in full makeup. It was not a great experience, I will never use it again— straight in the bin. I don’t know if I got an expired bottle or a wonky batch, but it would have been better if I’d just not used primer that day. It also gives my skin the most silky, luxurious, moisturized feel and it is the perfect primer for my foundation. At my age 19 I need the moisture and the smooth texture to help even out skin tone and make it easier to apply the rest of my makeup and this primer does that quite nicely! For me, one pump is more than enough to cover my entire face. Dab it on and blend it in … give it a minute or so to set and let it do its magic and then enjoy the ease of application when you apply your foundation. This is a product I will purchase again and recommend to my friends and family. In fact, I suggested my husband try some of the correcting green because he has some red patches on his cheeks and could really benefit from the moisture especially since he is in the sun a lot. I am IN LOVE with this primer! I have sensitive and very dry skin so this review is completely legit. I have tried many primers that just crumble up under my foundation. Some do absolutely nothing for my aging skin. I don’t know that I have felt anything more smooth or hydrating with the line blurring quality that I need. Budget friendly. Sensitive skin friendly. One of my favorite primers! The texture is silky and so smooth It is thick but goes on and blends very easily it’s simultaneously lightweight and it honestly makes my skin feel baby soft. It creates a good barrier between the makeup and skin, helping my makeup last even longer. I don’t buy a lot of black radiance products but when I saw that this was a poor minimizing primer I decided to give it a shot. I have been using this for about three days and I have to say that I am really pleased with how it truly minimizes the poor and gives my make up a matte finish without it looking completely mat. It still looks natural which I love so I’m not trying to look like a filter or anything but I like to look as natural as possible in and this minimizes pores and gives me a natural matte finish without it looking too over the top. It doesn’t have much of a smell to it and the crew the texture is like a satin feels so it feels nice it doesn’t feel oily or greasy it doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily or greasy either. I used this several times. I have combination oily skin with a slight red color. My skin is far from perfect after having my son due to acne so I always try to use a primer to help conceal a bit of the texture and redness. I haven't noticed a difference from the green tint or from holding my makeup or texture. I feel like it is just an extra step. This primer is actually really good. A glides up on my face and it just melts into my skin. It definitely helps my make up last as well as it sets a foundation for my foundation. At first I loved it as a primer because it’s moisturizing and good under makeup, but then I started noticing a bad smell anytime I touched my face and whenever I washed my make up off. This product smells so bad. It’s not noticeable until you touch your face, but it’s a gross petroleum-y funky smell. I love this primer but the smell is not tolerable for me. It washes off but I can’t stand how nauseating the smell is. It’s like an old mud mask that went bad. It’s not pleasant. Maybe I just got a bad one, but I’m not going to take the risk again. Believe me when I say I will never do my makeup without this product again. I have the DRIEST skin, to the point where it flakes. I use every possible dry skin care remedy and it helps, but then when I apply makeup, it normally goes right back to dry and I may as well have not done my skin care routine. However, that is no longer the case with this product. It gives me the glowy finish I've always wanted and it makes my makeup look insane. It really does last all day, and I use it with Estee Lauder double finish which IYKYK it's thick stuff. My skin took about a week to really adjust to it, but that always happens to me when introducing a new product. I can't recommend this enough I hope they never stop making it.Meg

I love this primer. It does such a great job of being a soothing hydrating primer that blurs pores and protects my skin. I'd buy it again and again. It works with all my foundations, and looks nice! It looks a little white at first even on my Snow White skin, but seems to disappear when rubbed in after a minute or two. Smell? Not really. It's not perfumed, so it has a natural kind of smell that disappears. Nothing awful, nothing pleasant. Personally I don't want fragrance on my face. BUT. The pump. Oh boy. I have managed to get this stuff in a curtain, a wall, carpet because it squirts out in every direction! I have tried cupping my hand… a product should not be this hard to actually get out of the bottle! I ALMOST bought a second bottle, but I can't bring myself to. I'm not sure how other people are applying this primer but I personally love this! I use this as the last step of my morning skin care routine. Personally, I have combination/oily skin so I found this to have a matte finish while also adding sunscreen protection. Very layer-able. I usually start with a serum, a moisturizer and then add this on top and then start my makeup routine. My make up always looks flawless and I love how light and the extra moisture this adds. As for scent… I never noticed anything so I am not sure why people are saying there's an order? It hardly has a smell. I love this brand and this one of my favorite products!Marissa
I had been hesitant to order this when it first came out, but luckily received in the summer beauty subscription box so I was very eager to try. Usually with SPF made with Zinc Oxide, the darker the skin tone applied to, the more likely I am to definitely see white residue, and they can end up being heavy, made even more so by needing to add more foundation than usual to cover the white sheen. With this primer, I apply after using the Milk Drops, just one pump after shaking is enough for my whole face. It goes on so smooth and light and after a few minutes I definitely see the mattifying and blurring effects, and more importantly- NO WHITE RESIDUE. Most days this is my last step in my morning routine, no extra moisturizer. My face looks natural and healthy even without applying any make-up and I find I do not breakout into an oil slick throughout the day. When applying make up with this product, I wait at least 5 minutes to ensure it is completely absorbed and my skin is dry. I find use much less make-up product with a bigger coverage/color payoff, makeup just goes on smooth and easily, but I honestly prefer using this on days I’m not wearing makeup since most of my foundations have an SPF and this product makes my skin look so good without anything extra.Shel

This is my favorite product!! I can wear/use this in so many ways!!! Most days I wear this on its own without makeup, over my SPF moisturizer. Sometimes I use it as a primer to a foundation. My favorite way to use it is to mix it with a concealer! It makes my concealer go on so much smoother and makes it less tacky or cakey! I started wearing this Hydrablur Primer and combine with the Age Smart Primer with SPF once the Pandemic started. I had read that Primer fares better with the facr masks that we had to start wearing with the Pandemic. My normal daily routine ends with the Hydrablur followed by the Age Smart with SPF. I feel they provide enough coverage for me and I love the way my skin feels with them, nice and smooth. I have very sensitive skin, so it's hard to find a foundation that doesn't irritate my skin, that also doesn't feel heavy. I definitely love the feel and coverage of the Dermalogica primers. I've been looking for a primer and have had quite a few fails in this area, until this one came into my life. I use mostly philosophy for my skin needs so thought I'd pick up this primer. It has a nice thick consistency and smells like an herbal school glue. With that said it is not offensive to me nor does the odor cling to skin after application. I wash with purity, moisturize if needed, then apply the present. It dries to a matte finish in a few minutes. I then apply whatever foundation I'm using for the day. Why is this product successful? I don't know the science behind it but most of my makeup applied remains until evening. If I've had sweat or moisture on my face the makeup remains. This formula is non-greasy, not shiny and no oils. Fell in love with this product!! I use it for many different things, mostly for a holy grail primer and my gosh it is hydrating and so smoothing and non greasy or sticky whatsoever, it's just utterly fantastic. I also use it alone for a moisturizer, as well as using it to smooth out makeup that's been on for a while, by putting a little bit right on top of my foundation and lightly smooth it with my fingertips. It's also great for helping to take your makeup off by applying it all over then wiping off makeup and also fixing eyeshadow mistakes if you go out to far with color etc. If you have drier skin you will love it as much as I do. I have combination to drier skin. Oily forehead and nose and dry cheeks, with extremely dry patches around my nose and chin. This is an A+ product and should be in everyone's makeup bag. It works nicely for me, but I'm noticing some people say it makes them look blotchy when they try to apply foundation. Personally I like using this and a light bb cream that I smooth on and then pat in. I haven't tried to use it under a real, thicker foundation and I only apply a very light dusting of powder if and where i need it. I let it sink in about ten minutes because I put it on after skincare and before I get dressed/ brush my hair. Then patting in a light formula bb cream doesn't really disturb it, so I don't have the blotchy problem. Try a sponge or fingers? It may be the wrong primer for you if you can't blend it in, it may not work with your formulas. But I think for a no makeup day or very light day, it works nicely. LOVE, LOVE AND LOOOVE this primer. Firstly, the price point for the performance of this primer is unmatched. I usually have a hard time finding a primer that will keep my makeup in place that doesn’t have an overwhelming amount of silicone feeling or one that doesn’t help my oily/dry areas, but this one has a consistency of a silicone but feels like a silk moisturizer on your skin. It leaves just enough tack for your foundation to stick and blurs pores and redness so that foundation looks FLAWLESS. This is most definitely a primer that I’m going to stick to for as long as I can.ashley.s
The Impossible Primer is such a welcome product in my world! I have excessively DRY Skin. I do have some pores on my face that I would like to minimize, but we Dry Skin folk usually must endure even MORE dryness in a Primer before we can smooth out pores. I also sought a Primer that would make my Foundation LAST, yet reconciled within myself that that could not happen for DRY Skin. Well, to my utter surprise, The Impossible Primer smooths out pores, AND makes any Foundation stay looking fresh much longer. It feels velvety on the skin, AND DOES NOT DRY ME OUT! This primer is so good! And it's so affordable – £6.29 RRP for 25mls of product. The primer is astonishingly SILICONE-FREE – so I literally have no idea how it performs the way it does. It's a clear, thicker jelly texture. It has a very similar texture to what you'd expect from silicone based primers. It applies and smooths onto the skin seamlessly. The second you apply it you can automatically see the mattifying effect – it literally negates all the shine/oils on the face. However it does this whilst still feeling hydrating. I also find it very pore blurring, which is a must for me. I apply it mainly in my T zone where I have the biggest pores and I get the oiliest. I also find it to be smoothing to fine lines. The reason I love this primer so much is that it doesn't interfere with my foundation. I never experience pilling or weird texture which is always a deal breaker for me. Overall 5ï¸�⃣/5ï¸�⃣ – I highly recommend this primer for anyone with oily skin, pores or texture. It's incredibly smoothing and texture improving and it's super affordable!eve.a

I really liked this primer because it didn’t feel like a silicone primer. With my oily skin it seemed to hold up decently with my foundation. It has a bit of a scent but it dissipates pretty quickly. I purchased it at Marshall’s and if I found it there again I would purchase it again.s.c
I absolutely looooovvee Boscia, they are a great brand that makes amazing products all of their products I have tried so far do everything they say they will more. I have combo skin, I have a very oily t-zone but the rest of my face is super dry, it also doesn't take much to make me either very oily or very dry. This works wonders for oily skin, it is like a sponge you can immediately feel the difference in your face, it instantly sucks up all the oil makes your skin smooth matte. That said it is not good for dry skin will dry your already dry skin, that is the only reason I took a star away, honestly this product is amazing truly does what it says. If you have oily skin this is a miracle product definitely for you. It also works wonders for combo skin like mine if applied properly, I only dab it on the areas of my face that are oily, I absolutely love it because like I said it doesn't take much to either make my skin dry or oily, so the days when I used a bit to much moisturizer am getting a bit oily I just put a little of this on I am good to go. Everyone with oily skin knows how gross it feels to slap makeup on top of it this product makes that problem non-existent, it also lasts all day I can get through my day without feeling like I have a muddy oil slick of foundation on my skin.shannon.i
Like everyone else who has tried this, I have very oily skin but just on my nose and nowhere else on my face. And like everyone else, I have tried numerous combinations of products over the past 6 months with nothing I've found that has worked for me to keep my foundation from sliding off after 2 hours. I have a desk job so I know its not coming off from sweat. I tried this product exactly how it is recommended, on freshly cleaned skin but I only put it on my nose. It goes on really nice and makes the skin a little tacky feeling which I personally like in primers. If I put my Fenty foundation right on top of it, you can see EVERY large pore I have on my nose. I have other large pores on my face and I don't see it do that in other areas that I just use the Fenty primer and foundation so it has to be from his Boscia primer. But, I noticed that it kept me oil free for an extra hour of my day and I am desperate so I tried to layer this product with others. I tried this with my Fenty primer mixed but still the pores showed. I tried this on top of Benefits Porefessional primer and it left my foundation cakey. I tried Laura Mercier powder on clean skin pushed into the pores with Boscia on top and my pores STILL show through. I tried applying with my fingers, with a brush, with a sponge, and I can't find anything to not make this product work better with my skin. I added a pic of my pores with this Boscia primer after 15 minutes of using other products to fill in my pores. I will say that I LOVE the smell of this. It smells like Aveda shampoo.Momma of 1
