20 Best Facial Primer For Combination Skin (Jan 2023 Update)

I typically have dry to normal skin. This primer is very hydrating, and I love the pump on it. But I feel like it doesn't keep my foundation in place. I've tried a few different ways before reviewing. Usually my foundation stays in place all day but I feel like it kinda if causes it to swipe right off. Usually I can touch my face and my foundation doesn't come off (with powder and setting spray) but using this primer it tends to come right off with a touch especially later in the day after wearing it for a few hours. I love this primer so much! I will never get another one to use in my face, this primer makes my face clear and soft. It doesn’t give me any pimples or acne. Since, I started using this primer I don’t use any other one because it gives me the support and the coverage I want! I really recommend this primer and I hope you guys love it so as I do!! I bought after all the reviews I saw About it. Plus, it’s considered a “dupe” of its several High end competitors. Which, I agree. I wouldn’t be surprised if Elf was the genius formula creator behind all the big brand products too, instead of being the brand coming out with Similar affordable products that are more wallet realistic for the Everyday consumer after the other big brand releases. They totally could be doing both. Lots of cosmetic companies sell their formula privately and let others brand it with their name. NYX and NARS, for example. Anyway, made my makeup last snd apply beautifully. Soft and nice smelling. Great price and was confident in buying regardless of reviews, because ELF is consistent and reliable with the products they put out to sell. They always do the job and then there is so many that do the job so great, they save you money from spending it on the more expensive brand that may not be worth the hype or worth getting addicted to when it’s ridiculously priced for its packaging snd not the actual formula. Elf isn’t cheap, they make beauty products accessible to the everyday consumer. Elf doesn’t play it safe, they keep it simple. If they played it safe, they wouldn’t release amazing products at insanely low prices that sometimes also mirror that trendy viral product triple its price. This actually reminds me of Tatcha Silk Canvas. Plus, I loved not having to come up with a 30 minute PowerPoint presentation on why it was smart for me to buy a 50 dollar primer to my boyfriend who just learned what primer was a month ago. “You paid 50 bucks for something that is invisible and doesn’t even show up on your skin?” He’s slowly learning, emphasis on slowly. When I relayed the importance of primer just like primer at his job when he used to paint houses, which painting and makeup is so similar it’s crazy, he seemed to understand and agree. It’s all about how you prep the canvas, whether house or face, for the product you put on it. If your primer is a great formula, the end result will be great too. If you want your end result product to last and look good and even and clean; don’t skip the primer and don’t skip out on a good one too. Not all expensive makeup products are worth it, price isn’t always reflective on if it’s a good formula or not. I’m a strong believer in utilizing a brand’s primer with their foundation, especially when they are formulated to work together. If you try a new foundation and your results are completely different from most users, check the primer. There are many different primers that all target different areas. If your foundation is super matte, adding an equally mattifying primer of a different brand could negatively affect the texture and overall formula of the foundation. I’m not saying you should never mix and match, it just requires some trial and error. The Soft Matte Pro Filt’R Primer however, takes the guess work out of my Fenty 400 foundation application. I instantly notice a difference in the finish if I don’t use the primer. The primer has a soft light scent, is super moisturizing and allows the foundation to effortlessly glide over my pores. I’ve always been an oily mess. Despite medications, matte primers, using other tricks like layering powder under my foundation…I always end up looking smeared. I tried this primer and the instant retouch in trial size. This mattifying primer kept the oil at bay even when faced with the Caribbean (and NYC) sun and heat! Now, of course, I may have a glow throughout the day and I still use blotting papers – but instead of 10, I may use 1-2. The primer isn’t sticky nor does it cake or ball up. This primer really helps absorb the excess oil in my T-zone. I think it does a good job of making sure I don't get too shiny, which has caused my makeup to smear, crease, and get cakey in the past (all in my T-zone of course). I have huge pores on my nose and cheeks, and this primer helps blur them. I like the light, smooth texture and the smell, too. You also don't even need to use a whole lot of it for it to be effective (especially if you also use the Pro Filt'r foundation like me). I had been looking for a pore minimising primer and had tried so many before I gave this one a go and the results are great. Goes on smooth and really minimises my pours. I decided to take a chance on this based on the great online reviews and in-store salesperson who recommended it. I'm perfectly fine spending more on products that work, however this was not the case. I don't have dry skin at all, yet this made my skin incredibly dry. The initial consistency in your hands seemed fine and the smell was nice, but once it was on my face it became very dry and flaky. Putting even small amounts of liquid foundation over it became difficult to spread on the skin which had not happened with any other primer I've ever used. There was no way I could even think to dry any of my powder foundations over this without a serious clumping effect. Unfortunately, this had no positive effect on me but rather worsened any slight skin imperfections.AB

I discovered Elemis moisturizer while I was in Hawaii getting a facial for the first time a few years ago. I have always had dry skin but for some reason during this trip my face was extremely dry. I really didnt expect much from the facial other then a relaxing experience. I never imagined this day I would discover how to stop the dry skin issue on my face. I really wasnt completely convinced Elemis moisturizer was the answer or the cost but was willing to try anything at this point. I have never had such soft smooth skin skin in my life. I recently stopped while out of work to cut down on my spending. I really could see and feel the difference when I wasnt using Elemis moisturizer. The first thing I did was purchase a jar once I found employment and received my first check. I know others were able to see the difference too because I was complemented on how amazing my skin looks. I've been using Lancome products for decades. I was running low on their primer, saw this on an Ulta points special, and figured I'd give it a shot after reading reviews (while not expecting to see much difference, if any). Day one, I can see and feel a highly significant difference. For reference I'm 59 with very large pores and fine lines, but they all become nearly invisible when this is topped off with Lancome Teint Idole foundation, and the effect lasted all day. Truthfully, the Lancome primer can't even hold a candle to this one. Yes, this is very pricey even compared to Lancome, but it takes very little for each use so I'm sold, it's worth every cent. It works well with my Lancome Visionnaire and Genifique serums and moisturizers too. I will definitely buy again, and try some of their other products as well since I'm so pleased with this one. This primer is pretty hydrating for dry skin, I did have to apply a face mist throughout the day but that might’ve been due to the temperature here. It is very illuminating on its own when I first applied some I thought it would be too shiny but once I added foundation and everything on top it was toned down. I didn’t have to add highlight since I still had some glow! My only complaint would be it leaves your hands really glittery but washing it off wasn’t a problem.NessaR46

It's great if you want to look like a vampire from Twilight with literally sparkling skin, but also look greasy and highlight all your flaws. Every little pore and wrinkle was magnified by this primer, and I looked and felt super greasy. I use BB creams instead of foundation so maybe it would work with a super matte, full coverage foundation, but if you're like me and prefer lightweight creams this stuff is awful.Patty

Burt's Bees goodness glows primer hydrates and illuminates. I do find that it is hydrating and Illuminating. The area is where I put it on my face could be called Dewey. That's why I don't actually use it all over my whole face but more as a highlighter. I like that it is natural and uses Botanicals. No cruelty to animals and eco-friendly. It is light and does not leave a sticky film and has a pleasant fragrance which isn't overpowering.seasnail1973

I picked this up because my usual No7 one wasn’t available. It’s a weird gel consistency which I didn’t like. It goes on ok but doesn’t really feel like it’s fully absorbed. My no7 foundation goes kind of patchy over it. I looked in the mirror after a few hours and it looked like the foundation had sort of dripped down my chin. Very strange. Maybe it was the combination of my foundation with it. I have sensitive skin and it was fine and didn’t cause a reaction. But I don’t understand in the directions it says you can use it on its own. It doesn’t do anything noticeable on its own so not sure why it says that. And it makes my foundation fall off my face so pretty useless.SophieP88

Maybeline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser packaging is cute fairly little BUT a little goes along way with this product (which is good bc it will last you along time) and the light blue aqua tube with pink Writing is what really caught my eye not to mention the price. I was so excited to try something new but I also have oily skin so that could be the main reason this didn’t go well on my skin but it felt as if I was putting Vaseline on my face. The consistency is heavy, slick and silicony. When applied, the primer feels soft but just sits ontop of the skin. I used this primer both alone and under makeup and my results were similar with both. While my skin did look smoother and my pores were blurred, the primer felt heavy and hot and within an hour, it was sliding off my face.tammy.p

I liked this primer when I started using it. I liked the texture of it on my face, it made my face feel so smooth. It did a decent job of covering my pores, however I had to knock off two stars. I have combination skin so I will usually get oily on my nose and forehead. Because of this the product would not last long. Another important thing to note is that it did not layer well with certain foundations and looked caked on under foundation. I found that it looked the best with a dewy foundation or bb cream. But if you want to use a matte foundation I would not recommend this product if you have combination skin. All in all it is affordable. You get what you pay for. I really like this foundation. I do think it helps smooth things out and keeps my makeup from sliding off my face later in the day. The trick is to use a very small amount. I general I use a "pea" sized amount of product for cosmetics like this. Not here! That would be like 4-5 times as much as one would need. Instead think of a grain of an uncooked grain of rice. Such a small amount one would think it would not be enough for the entire face but it is. For me this works great, but I should note this product gives me a glowy finish which I really like, but if one is looking for a truly matt primer this may not be for you. It does not have any shimmer or glitter particles so in this way it is matt, but not in a dry or flat looking way but instead has a satin finish. This product will last a very long time based on how little one should making it a good use of money.Amy

This was given to me. Now I like some of Tarte products but this one I didn't find did what it claimed as I could still see some pore spots. Which why I give a 4. Maybe I had higher hopes of being able to wear alone as well. It lasted but my forehead kinda had some dry flakes after using foundation. I purchased on the recommendation of the beauty consultant at Ulta. I have tried this on several occasions and I don't find it a necessary step for me, personally. It does not seem to reduce the size of my pores and doesn't make much of a difference in terms of mattifying. This is a fantastic primer! Most primers are garbage on me. I have combination skin that gets rather oily in my t-zone (where I also have large pores), and this primer takes care of all of those issues. Foundation is particularly difficult to get to last all day on my nose, but this has great hold without being super grippy (like the milk hydrogrip or the hard candy gripping primer). Give it a minute to settle in before applying foundation, and not only will your makeup last all day, your skin will look flawless.Olivia

I purchased this from Ulta after my favorite primer, Optical Illusion from Urban Decay was discontinued. My skin is combo/oily but it was worse than usual as I had stopped my birth control and that had kind of thrown everything out of whack. I used this for about 4-ish months and it was ok. It controlled my oils fairly well for most of the day, but at the end of a long work day my t-zone would be pretty gross and my foundation would come off pretty easily. My main issue with this primer was with the texture it gave once I applied foundation on top of it. My foundation tended to grab at any bit of texture on my face in a crusty not at all cute way. I wear masks all day at work so it wasn't a huge deal but if that weren't the case I don't think I would have finished the tube. Once I went back to a higher end primer (Peach and Lily Glass Skin Primer), I realized just how garbage the finish of my foundation was with this primer. I finally took the plunge and ordered this product and the Tula Cult Classic face cleanser. I officially am sold on Tula products and this one in particular is my favorite! I will never buy another brand primer! At 31 years old I am noticing my skin is not as firm and supple as it used to be, my pores are more noticeable and I am starting to get the fine lines in my laugh lines. I have tried numerous primers before from drug store to Ulta Brand to The POREfessional and none of them have wowed me like this Tula primer. Game changing primer! This was suggested to me by a store associate while at Ulta and it blew me away. First, it is really is "blurring", it completely smooths and evens my pores upon application. It is also slightly tinted but the tint comes from the primer adjusting to your skin tone as you put it on, so versatile! As someone who has to switch foundations between seasons, it is really great to have a primer to works for all seasons but still has a tint. It leaves my skin feeling very smooth, but it still very lightweight! Sometimes I wear it just on it's own when I am having a good skin day and don't want to bother with foundation. My pores clog easily and result in blemishes quickly, especially with primers which tend to be oily/heavy but not tula! Highly recommend this primer!!jasmine.l

I purchased this product because I was in the market for a tinted moisturizer and have never tried any before, this was too good of a deal to pass up without at least trying. For reference, I have the most porcelain skin I have ever seen in my life so nearly everything that I purchase is too dark or turns orange on my skin. I have two tried and true foundations, one from Smashbox and the other from Anastasia Beverly Hills. I have a dry combination skin type for reference. I wanted to love this product and it was promising at first but within the first few minutes, it was already oxidizing on my skin. It oxidized so bad that I had an entirely different color on my face than my hairline or the rest of my body. It looked as if I had gotten a bad spray tan. It also made my super dry skin feel heavy, clogged, and oily. I will also add, that I have contact dermatitis which is a form of eczema in which I have very sensitive skin and can only use certain soaps and cosmetics but had heard many good things about Tula. Unfortunately, this product also made my face start burning, similar feeling to a sunburn, when it was on my skin and I washed it off immediately. This primer is very thin and blends into skin quickly. But it leaves strange transparent shiny flakes of circles all over random places. Those circles reflect with the light. I don't know if it's supposed to cause an illusion of glow or if I got a bad bottle. It is like if you were to apply literal transparent/clear particles of glitter all over your face. I have been searching for an everyday all-over primer for my flaky face and dry irritated eyelids (thank you, menopause). This one is light and easy to spread. I took a chance and tried it on my eyelids. Since the product is cruelty-free I thought it might be gentle enough to not irritate my lids. It worked! I had recently purchased this about two weeks ago and it’s been an overall great experience! It does such a wonderful job of giving you a glowing, almost dewy like base. It is quite sticky at first but it does a great job of giving you a nice hydrating finish. I must say I would recommended not moisturizer right before applying this as it will create a paste. Amazing! I add a few drops to my Neutrogena Triple Moisturizer, and I am transported to My Happy Place! These 2 products together are by far my favorite!! (The triple moisturizer is the real winner though, but adding the hydro boost primer/serum just takes it to another level). I also purchased the tinted version of this primer/serum..it's nice, but definitely not the same. I think it'll be better in the summer when my makeup is more minimal. I do not wear a lot now, but I really go more bare in warmer months. I am so happy with the Hydro Boost Glow. I picked this up and was extremely skeptical and I thought to myself, “this is probably just water in a bottle”, but let me tell you after just two weeks of using this day and night..not only does this leave my skin super moisturized and glowy (btw I have oily skin but this is the type of moisturized and glowy that you would want) but it got rid of my smile lines that have been around my mouth for years! This primer makes my makeup look awful. It highlights pores (my foundation seems to pool in them), makes my fairly oily skin look dry and flaky and makes it really hard work to blend my foundation and concealer. I've tried a sponge, brush and my fingers, nothing helps when applying. When wearing a mask, after a couple of hours all of my makeup under the mask has rubbed off, not a smidge is left! WHYYYYYY did they mess with the original? I am a long time Too Faced customer. I use their primer, foundation, eye shadow, mascara, you name it. Super happy with everything. I honestly am blessed with good skin, partly due to my careful selection of skincare products and a regime I stick to faithfully. However, the one problem that constantly irritates me, and has led to a frustrating search for a solution, is my visible pores. I've been told they aren't nearly as bad as I think they are, but we'll, your friends have to say that kind of thing don't they! I know they are there, and I hate them! So, I have tried many, many cleansers, toners, masks, creams etc, and pretty much every primer I've ever come across. THIS is by far and away the best. It's one of the few products that I always keep a spare of since I can't bear the thought of running out! A major bonus is the price, it's about half the amount of my previous favourite, but performs so much better. Hourglass review I was gifted by Hourglass Cosmetics their Vanish Primer in exchange for my honest review. First off let me say I am a diehard Hourglass fan. You absolutely get what you pay for. Not only luxury products but one of my favorite brands for their packaging. Exquisite! I’ve yet to have a product of theirs not be perfect for me. This primer feels like liquid silk. I do not have oily/shiny skin but my daughter does and she found that working all day at her fast food job it not only controlled her shine but her makeup looked just as good as it did when she started her shift. I like this because there is little to no scent and it played well with my sunscreen. No pilling or separating issues at all. I didn't think that anything could top the original Hourglass primer. I love that stuff, and have used it in my kit for years. But this one may have even topped it! I love how it seems to control oil and shine, while still feeling hydrating on the skin. It doesn't have the powder finish the original seems to have, but sinks in nicely and leaves a really smooth base for foundation. I do feel like the foundation lasts longer when I use this primer as well, which is always needed when clients need a face to stay on for 16+ hours. First of all, I’m not a primer person. I typically invest in other base products because I require an elaborate moisturising routine. So when the sales person said that this primer does what it says on the bottle I wasn’t overly convinced until I tried it. The product is viscose and blends well but does not shift or ball up once applied. There’s no pigmented or greasy sheen to it either. So while it’s very comfortable to wear and apply, the real benefit comes once a foundation or even powder is applied. Everything, and I have tried concealers, foundations and powders, goes on so smoothly. I don’t wear full coverage foundation and so formulations have to really perform given I don’t want merky looking skin or patchy looking foundation. I am new to primer and wasn’t sure what to expect but it has quickly turned into a daily must for me. I love a natural look and don’t always wear make up, so I love that I can opt for using this primer alone when I was more than just moisturizer but not in the mood for full make up. It subtly smooths my fine lines and pores for a fresh complexion that looks like my skin with a bit of a filter. It’s also great under both liquid and mineral foundation. I received this sample to review as I was in the market for a primer. Absolutely love it! It glides on the skin like silk. Your foudation application is smoother than without the primer. As I have been suing everyday since .. I did the makeup without the primer one day and noticed a difference. I use it everyday prior to my mornign makeup but not at night. What bI love mosr is the primer plus a serum in one product . And it is affordable . Too many times you try a product but cannot afford to buy again to incorporate in your daily routine. I love love love the Loreal age perfection blurring face primer!! It will always be my go to for blurring effect!! It does a fabulous job ! I’m 53 my face has always had a beautiful complexion but as i have aged i have noticed an increase of pore size and redness. This does a fabulous job covering pores ! Blurs the red some but it does give a great complexion. Of course minus the wrinkles~ which the only thing to fix those is needle work lol !! Or knife work😂 anyways love this product !!!jessica

I have SUPER oily skin and this primer mist is amazing. You just need to make sure your foundation is compatible with it. Keep in mind this particular primer is water based, therefore you need a foundation that is water based. Otherwise you will experience your foundation slide off, pill, look patchy, etc. If your foundation is silicone based then this primer will not work.krw94

I've played with this primer quite a bit, and now that I have it figured out I like it quite a bit. Firstly, it's super affordable and you get a lot of product. It projects a very fine mist, and it works well under a variety of foundation formulas. If you have large pores to fill, you might want to try something silicone-based since this is not going to do much for texture. It really does mattify, but you have to saturated your oily areas pretty well and let them dry completely before applying your color products. Also, try spraying your finger tips and rubbing this gently into your pores — do not spray onto your eye area or lips! I have been using this product now for over a year. I have heard IT DOES NOT COMPARE TO THE OLD VERSION. I get that and wish I had the chance to try but actually really enjoy using this. IT IS NOT THE NUMBER ONE OIL CONTROLING PRIMER OUT THERE. That being known this product is amazing! I use this WITH AND WITHOUT MAKE UP. I am now starting to do more glam type make up and use a lot of make up on my face. Having normal/slightly sensitive and oily skin I found the more make up I use the more the oils in my face come out. By using the product it reduce it by 90-95% vs no use I'm literally wiping oil and make up off, yes cringe. I even said no make up. My face routine I wash use eye and face moisturizers let then sink in a bit then spay a few all over my face and proceed to just use a little mascara. By using the spray it helps set in my moisturizer and doesn't not have the mascara bleed bc the moisturizer under the eye. So if your someone on a budget with light/mild oily skin I say take a chance, just no after a few hr use you still will have a light oil shine on certain areas (just blot off with tissue/oil removing wipe or CLEAN toilet seat cover lol). I do feel that this may be unique to myself because I do use a lot of buildable foundation and powder. When I use this primer, I notice a slight difference in the depth of crows feet around my eyes and my face does appear to have less fine lines. The jelly doesn’t take 10 years off of my face but every little bit helps my confidence! I definitely will continue to purchase this product and would recommend it to any of my friends and family. This super sticky primer goes on unlike any of the silicone-based primers I've used. I would compare it to Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer but better since there is no drying alcohol. I wear a tinted moisturizer but had to apply powder over it to stop the tackiness from coming through. This primer includes Cork Oak Root Extract which is a sensitizing ingredient. After washing off my makeup after wearing it for a night out, my face was red and burned upon applying The Ordinary Amino Acid + B5 30ml which has never happened to me before and I'm at the end of the bottle. I'd recommend this primer to those without sensitive skin who wear a full-coverage foundation too quell the stickiness.shannon.l

Applying the product is a unique experience – it almost feels like putting hair gel or glue on but it feels good? Not sure how best to describe it. I do know that it is a fantastically sticky primer. You don't have to use a lot. It doesn't make you look ashy. I didn't have any issues with using my foundation or other products on top of it. It is a light layer and my skin has been better for it. I feel like it creates a better barrier than creamier products I've used so I don't notice as many new blemishes popping up after a long-wear day (like 12 hours+). It also doesn't seem to add to or take away from my moisturizing routine. It has also helped me use less foundation – so maybe that's where the skincare benefits are really coming in. I also love that it locks closed. I only wish I could see in the packaging so I can tell how low it is.Chachi

I was really excited to try this primer and see if it reduced the size of my pores before applying makeup. I used 2 drops before applying any makeup and gently smoothed it over my face. It has a nice smell about it, and glides on smooth, but I really don't like how sticky it feels on my face. I allowed it to dry for a minute or two, but when I went to apply my foundation, the primer rubbed off in pieces that looked like dry skin. I washed my face and started over, this time with only one drop. This time I allowed more dry time before I applied my foundation and was extra careful to dab my foundation in instead of any swiping motions. This seemed to work better.DaniSch

I'm grateful for the opportunity to review this product! I really liked this serum! It absorbed into my skin with ease and made a great primer for my foundation. It also worked good for my bare face routine, when I'd just use this serum and finish with the wet n wild take your vitamins mist. My biggest complaint was that I didn't like the the scent combination between the lavender and dragonfruit, but it wasn't long lasting or overwhelming to me. 40 years/Combo/acne prone skin. I can't say enough good things about this Wet n Wild pore minimizing primer serum. Especially if I use it with/before my L'Oreal Infallible Foundation in a Powder. Seriously, Wet n Wild saved the day with this primer serum. Literally nothing else works with a pressed powder foundation quite like this. It truly smooths the skin and doesn't take that long to dry either. Afterward, you get the right amount of grip and yet your powder foundation actually "glides" on easily. I don't know what I'd do without it. If I write a review, it's because I feel strongly about a product that works for my routine, and I would definitely recommend it to everyone who has a similar routine. I hope it's always available because this is my "holy grail" combination. (And for those who want to know; no, it is not "glittery".)Meg

Very pretty in the bottle. Noticed large glitter pieces upon application. Feels very velvety. Used this product for about a week, wearing it 8-12 hours a day, and it broke me out simultaneously on my nose, cheeks and chin. I do have the occasional breakout but not like this. New holy grail! I'm shocked at how great this primer performed. I've tried many primers from many brands over the years. Smashbox, benefit, nyx, wet n wild, tatcha.. etc. I've either had bad experiences or just had a subtle boost but nothing much to brag about. I got to a point where i was starting to believe that primers are a waste of money and dont do anything. Just as i was giving up this primer changed my mind. I initially was avoiding this primer because i thought it would be the same as the Elf mint melt primer. I had been using that one as i heard it was a dupe for the milk hydro grip. That was was alright but i felt it was too sticky and didn't make too much of a difference in my makeup. It almost kind of emphasized texture and pores a bit. Then this primer came out with people saying the same thing, a supposed dupe for the hydrogrip.. I thought it might have been the same primer just in a different packaging since the mint melt was a limited release. I ended up purchasing the power grip because my mint melt fell out of my makeup bag. The texture was a lot thinner and smoother than the mint melt. No where near as sticky or uncomfortable to put on. I was SHOCKED. Not only did my foundation look smooth and seamless, but it lasted over 10 hours. I applied my makeup in the morning, did a full 8.5 hour work shift, and then went to get drinks afterwards. All i needed was a bit of a powder touch up and my makeup looked fresh the whole day and night. I'm in love with this primer and its a new staple in my daily makeup routine. I cant believe i went so long without it! Definable deserves all the hype it gets and i'll be recommending this to anyone in need of a new primer!america.g

…it's VERY similar to Elf's Mint Melt and Jelly Pop primers. I havent bothered to compare ingredients, but I own all three primers and I have a sneaking suspicion that the only differences between the three products might be dyes and fragrances. As for the actual quality of the product, I think it works really well. It's tacky and it does what the title suggests–it grips onto your foundation. I've used Power Grip over several different serums, moisturizers, and sunscreens. I've used it under bb creams, both light and medium coverage liquid foundations, and with just plain powder–it plays well with everything I've tried. I haven't noticed any pilling, and it doesnt make my dry patches more noticeable; if anything, it makes them less noticeable (I have combo skin…oily in t-zone, normal perimeter, dry undereye and lids). Power grip seems to prevent my base makeup from settling into fine lines for a much longer time than other similar primers do, and it definitely prevents makeup from fading throughout the day–I do think that overall, it wears well. In my opinion, that's the aim of this primer: to keep your makeup on for the duration of your day, and to help it to look better longer–if that's what you need, give it a shot. That being said, anyone looking for pore blurring or filling, redness reduction or color correction, or anyone with very dry skin will probably want to forego this primer and try something else.Cher W

I wanted to use this grip primer for a few weeks before writing a review. I’ve used ELF’s other primers in the past, and remember being impressed by the poreless face primer. The grip primer is supposed to be a dupe for a more expensive MILK primer, and I think it does a good job doing that. It has viscous consistency, and you need to put it and spread it on your face immediately after dispensing. I was really impressed that it didn’t pill, cause I have the same problem with many other primers on the market that I’ve used in the past. I’ve seen reviews that it wan’t the best suit for a dry skin, and since my skin is super dry I was a bit apprehensive about using this primer, BUT with the first application all my fears disappeared. I love love loooooooooove that this primer has a hyaluronic acid which my skin loved, and the fact that it’s made without all the parabens sulfates adds another star to it. I usually use light primers under my sunscreen on days when I’m not using heavy makeup, however, I think the grip primer works better with heavy foundation makeup. I was really impressed about how long my foundation stayed in place without any touchups throughout the day. It was literally a wow-effect. ELF did it again putting an amazing product on the market without the expensive price tag. I would definitely recommend this primer, and would be purchasing it myself in the future after I use this one up.maggie.q

I love this primer! Firstly, I don’t really wear makeup often, most days I’ll wear none, and others just a bit of a base and mascara, unless I’m going out or have an event. Even if I’m not wearing makeup I sometimes like to put a primer on just to even out my skin and make it’s appearance slightly more smooth. This primer works wonders. It actually creates an airbrush effect, without looking like a filter or heavy makeup on its own. It helps even out my skin tone, and I have lots of redness, as well as making my pores appear smaller. In addition to wearing on its own, under makeup this is great, it provides a firm base to apply your makeup on, ready for all foundation and concealer, which then won’t budge until your ready to remove. It’s light on your skin so it can still breath and doesn’t feel heavy or as if it’s clogging up your pores. I would recommend this product to others based on my own personal experience.kirsty.h

I always apply my primer after I’ve completed my skincare routine and moisturised my skin. Once applied l always wait a few minutes for it to fully absorb into my skin before l start applying my foundation. The No7 Instant Illusions Airbrush Away Primer, l found a little goes a long way. Which is good as it costs $17.95 for 1oz (30ml) tube. Which is probably a little expensive compared to other Superdrug primers. My foundation definitely applies and looks better when l used the primer. It’s good but l personally prefer the normal No7 Airbrush Away Primer over this one. So on that’s bases l probably won’t purchase it again.susan.c
