20 Best Facial Primer For Oily Skin (Jan 2023 Update)

I’m a strong believer in utilizing a brand’s primer with their foundation, especially when they are formulated to work together. If you try a new foundation and your results are completely different from most users, check the primer. There are many different primers that all target different areas. If your foundation is super matte, adding an equally mattifying primer of a different brand could negatively affect the texture and overall formula of the foundation. I’m not saying you should never mix and match, it just requires some trial and error. The Soft Matte Pro Filt’R Primer however, takes the guess work out of my Fenty 400 foundation application. I’ve always been an oily mess. Despite medications, matte primers, using other tricks like layering powder under my foundation…I always end up looking smeared. I tried this primer and the instant retouch in trial size. This mattifying primer kept the oil at bay even when faced with the Caribbean (and NYC) sun and heat! This primer really helps absorb the excess oil in my T-zone. I think it does a good job of making sure I don't get too shiny, which has caused my makeup to smear, crease, and get cakey in the past (all in my T-zone of course). I have huge pores on my nose and cheeks, and this primer helps blur them. I like the light, smooth texture and the smell, too. You also don't even need to use a whole lot of it for it to be effective (especially if you also use the Pro Filt'r foundation like me). This has without doubt been the best product I have ever tried to instantly control my shiney oily/combination skin. It feels so good on the skin and mattifies without looking dull. My skin stays shine free for the 6 hours proclaimed and even after this, the shine is so much more subtle than I have ever experienced, more dewy than the usual sweaty oil slick look. I wear it alone and haven't tried with makeup over the top as I'm looking to find a foundation/tinted moisturiser for oily combination skin I like first (nightmare for very fair skin tone at the best of times). I do suffer with blackheads and enlarged pores so praying this doesn't clog and undo the good achieved with the other Paula's choice products that i'm successfully using to reduce the appearence of these. This product is brilliant. I have lost count how many anti shine powders and blotting papers I have used from all different brands and I am always oily and shiny within a few hours of using them. I thought I'd give this a try and now I use this product over my make up everyday on my cheeks and forehead and I stay shine free literally all day. It even makes your skin super soft to touch and blurs pores, no oily greasy feeling anymore. Overall, I'm pleased. For the first 4 months, I was thrilled – no shine all day long. It was amazing! But now, perhaps with the change of seasons into summer, it's less effective. After 3 hours, I'm starting to look oily again, so I'm back to using blotting papers with this product, but I'm blotting just a few times per day now instead of hourly. Background: I have very sensitive, reactive, acne-prone skin with Type II Rosacea. My t-zone is always very oily and shiny, and so for years I've been using blotting papers to absorb the oil. Even then, within an hour my skin was visibly oil again. I started using this Shine Stopper back in late-January (it's now July), and so I've got 6 months of experience with it. Having combination skin and a T-zone that gets super shiny very fast, I haven't yet found the Holy Grail Primer I've been looking for, but this is as close as I've gotten. I do not wear foundation or powder, only a bit of concealer here and there where I need it, so I basically wear this alone just in my T-zone to even out the texture and mattify it as much as I can. I have tried a million different brands that promise to mattify for 8 hours or 12 hours or whatever, and none of them do. For a couple hours, tops, and then you either have to reapply or blot. Even though the target of this one isn't primarily to mattify, I find it does so anyway and that it lasts the longest of all the others I've tried. I still do have to blot during the day, but less frequently than I do with other primers, even ones whose main purpose is to mattify. It also does even out the skin tone and reduce the appearance of pores. I can't speak to whether this works well under a lot of makeup, but I can certainly apply a small amount of concealer no problem. It also doesn't cause me to break out and it feels light on my skin. Is it perfect? For me, no. But is it the best one I've tried so far? Yes. I'll keep using it unless I eventually find something better.RennieLynn

First off, I would not have spent the money on this product had I not received a sample of it to try a few years ago. This stuff is magic for me! I put it on top of my foundation along my T zone and upper cheek area-it instantly smoothes out my skin; both pores and fine lines. I have deep set lines in my forehead (have had them since I was a teenager) and this product helps blur them. A little bit goes a long way! I have tried it under my foundation but it’s magic effect is way less noticeable, so that’s a no for me unless I don’t wear foundation that day. I had heard so many amazing things about this primer through a girlfriend, so I decided to try out a sample size. I hadn’t used a primer in a while since I hadn’t really found one I had liked. Trying it out for the first time I wasn’t sure about the consistency but after I saw how it made my face look smooth and my pores look smaller I was instantly interested. After completing my whole set of makeup I loved the way the primer changed my look. I think this specific primer works well for people with oily skin. They also have a lightweight and a hydrating primer for those who may have drier skin. Overall, I liked this product so much I went out and purchased the regular size bottle. I finally caved and purchased this primer as I have heard nothing but rave reviews about it. The internet and all its glory makes this seem like it is the secret for porcelain doll skin. Well I really tried, but it just didn’t work out for me. I picked this up at Rexall for $14CDN. Not bad price wise but I was expecting a wee bit less for Elf. The texture is very creamy. Not greasy but similar to the texture of the Elf Miracle Eyeshadow Primer. No silicone texture either. As you can see in my picture, it has a light pink hue that blends away. I find after I apply it it doesn’t really do anything. It just blends into the skin. When I apply my foundation I find it mixes with the primer and my face just looks streaky. I have applied the primer and will work on my eyes, to give the primer a chance to ‘set’. Even then, it doesn’t make a difference. When I do get my face looking adequate, it doesn’t take long and my foundation disappears. There is no lasting power for this primer. Let me start by saying the Poreless Putty Primer was by no means my first primer nor my first product with a cream, gel or putty-like consistency. However, I was skeptical of a primer I needed to "pick up" and apply with my fingers much like a potted lip balm. I love reviews and claims but I often have to try something to honestly believe the claims so I did just that and chose this version because I've always preferred primers that helped blur or diminish the appearance of the pores on my cheeks near my nose. It took a couple of uses to fully understand this primer because initial I only applied it to certain areas of my face thinking it would clog pores then I used it all over but not really; meaning the amount was probably too negligible for actually priming my face evenly and it showed. Quick DISCLAIMER: This review is for when I initially tried this primer after it debuted; before any of the specialty brushes and when the suggested tips were to use your fingers to "warm up the product and evenly distribute over your face". So…I'll sum this up faster as everyone else has reviewed this and I'm sure my results after using it correctly are probably similar to those who had positive experiences. It IS easy to use and although I mentioned not using enough of it, you do not need a lot of product for a full face cover; I was just being overly cautious (lame). There is no strong fragrance and even though I used my fingers for my first jar it never looked sloppy or messy when opened because the formulas stays firm and literally melts with the heat from your fingertips. I can't honestly say I saw a big difference in my pores from just this product but it is possible. What is true is that I've got multiple face primers including a well-known brand's "Pore….sional" that was my hands down favorite for years and lately I've found myself using the elf product over that one because of the tackier grip that allows for longer lasting wear. So I know people LOVE this stuff, and I wanted to love it too. It's been called a dupe for a more luxury brand's primer and it's the underdog darling of the makeup community. When I first put it on, it sank into my skin well and made my makeup look pretty darn good at first. But within an hour my makeup was breaking apart and separating off my face, which has never been a problem before using this product. Now, people might say that it's the type of makeup I'm using. Maybe not every brand's makeup is compatible with every primer. But I only use ELF makeup. At the very least, you'd expect their makeup to be compatible with their own primer! I also have very dry skin naturally due to an autoimmune problem, and never have an issue with my face getting too greasy and ruining my makeup, even in hot weather. If you want your end result product to last and look good and even and clean; don’t skip the primer and don’t skip out on a good one too. This product has become an essential in my make up routine. It's honestly the best primer I have ever used and really does what it says it does. I start to get an oily forehead as the day wears on but with this primer applied in the morning after my moisturizer my skin stays looking matte and my make up looks fresh all day. It absorbs into skin quickly, is non greasy or oily and feels like silk on my skin. The pores around my nose look smaller and less noticeable and my complexion overall looks more flawless. My skin is left feeling refreshed, soft and hydrated after applying this primer. I love that this primer is hydrating too as my skin is normally quite dry. I combined this primer with the Fix It Forget It setting spray and noticed a massive difference in how long my make up lasted, it stayed in place all day keeping any shine at bay and my make up looking great. This is a great primer which is designed to mattify your complexion and reduce pore size. Whilst I found this was the case I was impressed that the primer itself felt very moisturising on application and didn't feel tight afterwards. My skin in normal to dry and on the mature side. It would be interesting to see how this works for more oilier skins but the initial moisturising effect didn't feel greasy afterwards so I think the Lancome labs have delivered something that works well for all skin types, as it is promoted. I was also impressed that even though this gave a mattifying effect that it also lent a radiance too. I expected a dull look and as I prefer a more glowing complexion which I feel at my age works better, the mattifying effect wasn't at the cost of radiance. For me I think I would use this more for evening wear as I prefer a glowing look but for the evening it would give a more polished look. It also helped my makeup to stay on longer, with the additional help of the new Lancome Fix it & Forget it setting spray.Karen76

I have combination skin which means it can end up very oily with make-up oxidising and either melting or sitting on my skin in patches. This primer does keep that at bay and I found my make up does stay in place all day. I don't like the feel of make up/too many products on my skin. This wasn't too bad for the majority of the day, I don't feel like I was wearing thick layers of products. Like any product I am aware towards the end of the day that I want to wash that make up feel off but in general I found it works well with my skin and it's nice my make-up lasted for a change and not too heavy a feeling of wearing it. You all, this primer here is a GAME CHANGER! I’ve used some of the higher end brands and they just DO NOT compare. This stuff literally shrinks your pores and give you a such a smooth finish and lay with your makeup. Every time I use this everything just lays in a synchronized way. I pray NYX never gets rid of this product. I just might have to buy up the entire stock whenever I go to my nearest target to purchase just to be on the safe side. I always get compliments of how well my makeup is laid and there is no doubt this primer plays a huge part in that with the matte finish primer. Highly recommended!Alluring Beauty

I received this in a subscription box at some point and it had been put away in a box of beauty samples. I came across some of these today and decided to try them out. This one is a nice formula, it's creamy and super pigmented. I just wasn't super in love with it, but I can't point to any specific reason why, so I won't remove any stars for that. The reason for the missing star is that it is not very long lasting. I put this on in my bedroom to try it out and within 10 minutes of me just cleaning up my vanity I already would have needed to reapply in the real world. The color, lifeguard, is a very pretty deep red color. Not my red, I tend to go for bright blue reds, but this is a very nice deep blue red.jennifer.h

I have an oily tzone. So I use a matte primer in my tzone. I had been using Hourglass Mineral Veil and had heard this formula was so similar. I would say is is very much like HG. I used the whole bottle. It did hold back oils. I didn't use it on my normal skin. I use something more moisturizing. I do recommend if you enjoy Hourglass Mineral Veil you may love this primerlisa .s

Oily ladies. Hear me out. I’m a normal thirty something Caucasian female living in the south with the latest pores this side of the Mississippi. I’ve STRUGGLED with oil production and no matter what makeup or skincare I use, the pores and the oil doesn’t go away. I’ve tried EVERY mattifying primer there is and ALWAYS am wiping away or being disgusted enough to go and wash my gross oily face by the end of the night Until this primer. It keeps me oil free. I might need a light touch up of power if I’m going from WFH desk to dinner out with friends, but I don’t feel like a grease ball at 5:00. I’m more of a no make up make up girlie but my face looks good at the end of the day! This is a forever purchase. People commenting about the scent – I don’t mind it. I have heard a lot about this brand and this product was my first experience. Unfortunately not off to a good start – quite heavily fragranced considering it is marketed as a natural product, it also felt a bit harsh on my skin, slightly stinging on application. My skin is fairly 'normal' so if you have sensitive skin, I would suggest not to even trial this. The fragrance and stinging did subside fairly quickly (otherwise would have removed the product). It looks looks okay on the skin by itself, but it really isn't a good base for make-up, which is the intention of a primer. It doesn't 'pill' but my normal skin care provides a far even base for my make-up. This caused my foundation to look more uneven and highlight rather blur pores. I generally skip this step, but was curious to see how much difference this product might make. If you are considering I would recommend buying NARS primer instead, which is soothing and cooling on application and provides an even and lasting base.SBI inc

So I got a sample of it along with couple others with my latest order. It’s been some time since I wanted to try this primer because it was repeatedly compared online to the much more expensive primer with the “same” effect by Tom Ford and I happen to be using the TF one. I’m always down to finding a good affordable dupe, especially considering milk makeup being on the clean side with their products. I’ve been testing it for 4 days now with 4 different foundations: nars light reflecting foundation; westman atelier vital skincare drops, Lisa Eldridge foundation and the Tom ford soleil flawless glow foundation. All in all i would say it is a decent alternative if you don’t want to splurge on the Tom Ford primer however in my opinion it is slightly less blurring overall, it’s a little thicker than TF and it has a slight chemical scent to it that I don’t really like. However the scent is very faint and disappears right after it was spread on the skin in the areas you want to blurr your pores at. I’m still thinking if I should maybe get the smaller travel size of it to keep using it, you only need the smallest amount of it so a travel size can last me a long time.AnitaKn

This primer makes my makeup look awful. It highlights pores (my foundation seems to pool in them), makes my fairly oily skin look dry and flaky and makes it really hard work to blend my foundation and concealer. I've tried a sponge, brush and my fingers, nothing helps when applying. When wearing a mask, after a couple of hours all of my makeup under the mask has rubbed off, not a smidge is left! I can't NOT recommend this product enough. For reference, I'm 26, have oily, fair skin and use Urban Decays Stay Naked foundation with this primer.Ellie

WHYYYYYY did they mess with the original? I am a long time Too Faced customer. I use their primer, foundation, eye shadow, mascara, you name it. Super happy with everything. Then I ran out of primer and placed an order for this "advanced" formula and hate it. Please please please bring back the original formual. It was brilliant! I honestly am blessed with good skin, partly due to my careful selection of skincare products and a regime I stick to faithfully. However, the one problem that constantly irritates me, and has led to a frustrating search for a solution, is my visible pores. I've been told they aren't nearly as bad as I think they are, but we'll, your friends have to say that kind of thing don't they! I know they are there, and I hate them! So, I have tried many, many cleansers, toners, masks, creams etc, and pretty much every primer I've ever come across. THIS is by far and away the best. It's one of the few products that I always keep a spare of since I can't bear the thought of running out! A major bonus is the price, it's about half the amount of my previous favourite, but performs so much better. My skin feels silky, it doesn't leave an odd coloured residue on my olive toned skin, and sits beautifully under my usual tinted moisturiser without 'balling up' like I've sometimes experienced with other primers. This primer did not minimize my pores. Normally I purchase the ELF Pore Minimizing primer, they were out of stock so I ended up purchasing the Revlon pore minimizing primer. Do yourself a favor, save some money by just purchasing the ELF primer, it works better than this overpriced primer. I can't comment on the skincare benefits of this primer. I already have a skincare routine to help with my acne and discoloration. This did help with mattifying my makeup for the day, but I would not repurchase due to the lack of pore minimizing.Anna

I bought this a couple of days ago as an alternative because my usual brand was out-of stock. I wish I'd taken the time to read some reviews. This product doesn't seem to absorb the way other primers do, it remains quite tacky even some time after application. It sits on top of your skin and so whether you wear it on its own or under foundation, if you rub any part of your face it start to flake off. I thought it might be a specific spot but as the day went on it was happening everywhere. It is a complete waste of almost €16 as there is no way to get a refund and it completely unusable. I will now have to hunt around for another replacement so effectively will have to spend the same amount again. AvoidClaire

Okay so I really thought I would love this primer! I heard good stuff about and that it was a great dupe to Hourglass Vanish Primer I believe it's called. Not the Veil Primer, but the Vanish. I had also heard it was specifically great for textured skin as well so i was excited to try it. But it just sat on my skin horribly and made my foundation not be able to just melt into my skin the way it usually would. And that was with using 2 foundations I really trust. It made all my texture and pores sooo much more visible. It was really bad. Especially obviously around my mouth area as you can see in one of the pictures I will have posted, and then the other picture you can see more pores so strongly it's almost scary to me because I never realized just how textured I really am. I used Nars Radiant Longwear Foundation on one side, and Uoma Flawless IRL Skin Perfecting Foundation on the other side. I believe the Uoma side looked a tad better then Nars side did with this primer. But either way they both looked bad the more I looked at it. It doesn't really have a scent which can be nice, and it felt great between my fingers and rubbing onto my skin but it just sat on top and did not skin onto my skin at all.. I was quite bummed out with how this primer worked out on me. I will give it a couple more tries but if that don't work I will probably give it to someone else to try.ashley.r

Okay – so I started out LOVING this product. Other then the finicky way it comes out, I was sold. The cooling effect was great and felt amazing. The foam turned it a lightweight texture that felt very smooth on my face. It has a great tint to it, which was a bonus. It made my make up look great and made my makeup stay on better than most. I have very oily skin but this stuff definitely helped out in that department. The crappy thing about it; it stopped working on me. The pump literally DOES NOT work anymore. I only got maybe a week and a half use out of it. I’m really irritated because it’s $35 …. do I really want to spend money purchasing another one if the second one breaks one me too?! Ugh! So disappointed…. please Origins, get this fixed. This is my only flaw.desire.c

Let me start by saying I have been using Origins products since I was about 16. I am now in my 30s. I am always really excited to try new products with you and always feel totally safe with the products. I loved when I was able to try this Willow Herb product. I just like everyone else loved the product hated the bottle. I am stubborn I even went back didn't complain and bought another one- just thinking it was my rotten luck. No I was out of luck again. If there was another way to put this primer in a different package or bottle it would be wonderful. I just like a few other women was getting so many compliments on my skin and how it looked, now I feel I can't get the right match because a step is missing in that 3 step process.KimmyKim1

This primer pills horribly to be honest. I have tried to apply my make up a few ways to avoid the pilling that occurs when you apply foundation, but I have yet to find a way to successfully do so. If it did not pill I would give 5 stars. I do want to say I love the cooling effect when you first apply especially on summer days. It does have a mousse texture, and is lightly tinted. My skin type though which is not overly oily tends to feel oily after a few hours of wearing this not bad just something I noticed. If I just apply this and nothing else it does make my skin look smoother and pores are less noticeable, so my light makeup days, I do tend to chose this primer and it does fine alone. I also like that I do not have to scrub my face to remove at the end of the day. Decent primer though.sierra.h

I picked this up because my usual No7 one wasn’t available. It’s a weird gel consistency which I didn’t like. It goes on ok but doesn’t really feel like it’s fully absorbed. My no7 foundation goes kind of patchy over it. I looked in the mirror after a few hours and it looked like the foundation had sort of dripped down my chin. Very strange. Maybe it was the combination of my foundation with it. I have sensitive skin and it was fine and didn’t cause a reaction. But I don’t understand in the directions it says you can use it on its own. It doesn’t do anything noticeable on its own so not sure why it says that. And it makes my foundation fall off my face so pretty useless.SophieP88

Maybeline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser packaging is cute fairly little BUT a little goes along way with this product (which is good bc it will last you along time) and the light blue aqua tube with pink Writing is what really caught my eye not to mention the price. I was so excited to try something new but I also have oily skin so that could be the main reason this didn’t go well on my skin but it felt as if I was putting Vaseline on my face. The consistency is heavy, slick and silicony. When applied, the primer feels soft but just sits ontop of the skin. I used this primer both alone and under makeup and my results were similar with both. While my skin did look smoother and my pores were blurred, the primer felt heavy and hot and within an hour, it was sliding off my face.tammy.p

I liked this primer when I started using it. I liked the texture of it on my face, it made my face feel so smooth. It did a decent job of covering my pores, however I had to knock off two stars. I have combination skin so I will usually get oily on my nose and forehead. Because of this the product would not last long. Another important thing to note is that it did not layer well with certain foundations and looked caked on under foundation. I found that it looked the best with a dewy foundation or bb cream. But if you want to use a matte foundation I would not recommend this product if you have combination skin. All in all it is affordable. You get what you pay for. This is a decent option but I usually choose to spend a few more bucks for a more quality primer. I hope this helped!brielle.s

I have SUPER oily skin and this primer mist is amazing. You just need to make sure your foundation is compatible with it. Keep in mind this particular primer is water based, therefore you need a foundation that is water based. Otherwise you will experience your foundation slide off, pill, look patchy, etc. If your foundation is silicone based then this primer will not work.krw94

I've played with this primer quite a bit, and now that I have it figured out I like it quite a bit. Firstly, it's super affordable and you get a lot of product. It projects a very fine mist, and it works well under a variety of foundation formulas. If you have large pores to fill, you might want to try something silicone-based since this is not going to do much for texture. It really does mattify, but you have to saturated your oily areas pretty well and let them dry completely before applying your color products. Also, try spraying your finger tips and rubbing this gently into your pores — do not spray onto your eye area or lips! I was suffering from chronically dry lips and realized that this was getting to close to my lip area and causing the issue. Great primer, just know your limits.meghan.f

I have been using this product now for over a year. I have heard IT DOES NOT COMPARE TO THE OLD VERSION. I get that and wish I had the chance to try but actually really enjoy using this. IT IS NOT THE NUMBER ONE OIL CONTROLING PRIMER OUT THERE. That being known this product is amazing! I use this WITH AND WITHOUT MAKE UP. I am now starting to do more glam type make up and use a lot of make up on my face. Having normal/slightly sensitive and oily skin I found the more make up I use the more the oils in my face come out. By using the product it reduce it by 90-95% vs no use I'm literally wiping oil and make up off, yes cringe. I even said no make up. My face routine I wash use eye and face moisturizers let then sink in a bit then spay a few all over my face and proceed to just use a little mascara. By using the spray it helps set in my moisturizer and doesn't not have the mascara bleed bc the moisturizer under the eye. So if your someone on a budget with light/mild oily skin I say take a chance, just no after a few hr use you still will have a light oil shine on certain areas (just blot off with tissue/oil removing wipe or CLEAN toilet seat cover lol). I started off as a classic putty primer gal but about 6 months ago I switched over to the salicylic formula after I noticed I was getting some breakouts. I’m not sure how much “fighting” this primer actually does but I will say that my skin doesn’t breakout as much (aside from the occasional 1 or 2 on the chin area) and I noticed that my skin doesn’t get greasy or feel oily at the end of the day like it did when I was using the “luminous” formula. I do have fairly product sensitive skin and this primer keeps my makeup on all day and doesn’t strip my skin if it’s natural moisture or react to the products I use as a part of my daily skincare routine. Also, it lasts FOREVER! I literally just bought my 2nd jar after using the previous one everyday for 6 months. Definitely worth a try in my opinion 🙂libby.b

Every monthly cycle I breakout on my face, neck, and chest. Ugh! I have spent decades battling this issue and I’m 43! So as I’m aging, I’m also needing to keep my skin more hydrated. I’ve only been using this for about a week, but have already noticed a big difference in my skin! I have normal skin, with an oily T zone, large pores, hormonal breakouts, and hyperpigmentation that leaves my skin scarred for months even if I don’t touch my breakouts. This primer is pretty hydrating for dry skin, I did have to apply a face mist throughout the day but that might’ve been due to the temperature here. It is very illuminating on its own when I first applied some I thought it would be too shiny but once I added foundation and everything on top it was toned down. I didn’t have to add highlight since I still had some glow! My only complaint would be it leaves your hands really glittery but washing it off wasn’t a problem.NessaR46

It's great if you want to look like a vampire from Twilight with literally sparkling skin, but also look greasy and highlight all your flaws. Every little pore and wrinkle was magnified by this primer, and I looked and felt super greasy. I use BB creams instead of foundation so maybe it would work with a super matte, full coverage foundation, but if you're like me and prefer lightweight creams this stuff is awful.Patty

Burt's Bees goodness glows primer hydrates and illuminates. I do find that it is hydrating and Illuminating. The area is where I put it on my face could be called Dewey. That's why I don't actually use it all over my whole face but more as a highlighter. I like that it is natural and uses Botanicals. No cruelty to animals and eco-friendly. It is light and does not leave a sticky film and has a pleasant fragrance which isn't overpowering.seasnail1973

First application; Immediate mattifying on the shine, kept it at bay all day. Its a silicone feeling smooth primer. After I used it probably 2 or 3 times, I noticed cystic acne like reactions along my mouth and jaw area. It almost looked like blisters. So sadly, its a no for me. I used to enjoy using this primer when I was in my 20's but now I prefer more hydrating primers with a dewy, glowy finish over a matte finish. But nonetheless this is still a very nice primer. I feels nice on my skin and the make up holds up well over the primer. I reduces the appearance of my pores on and around my nose which is definitely important to me when searching for primers. My foundation goes on smooth. I would definitely recommend this primer. It's at a nice price point – way less expensive than high end brands so I save you a lot of money. I have normal to combination skin – my skin can get dry during the winter. I use liquid foundations, all the different foundations I have work very well with this primer. This is for the green primer… I think this is GREAT for counter-acting redness in your skin tone! It worked awesome for me. I have combo/dry 'reactive' skin (heat, cold, embarrassment, etc.). I use it over my regular moisturizer, pretty much as a primer before foundation. It's light feeling, feels slightly moisturizing, but to me, doesn't feel silicone-y (which apparently, it DOES have in it – I don't usually like silicone based stuff), REALLY does cut the red/pink tones and seems to smooth the skin and prolong makeup longevity some. I can even wear it without foundation but just have to be conscious to do a thin application and then top with a skin-toned finishing powder. No scent that I noticed, decent price (like $9 or so, I think it was). Convenient tube/packaging – yeah, ya gotta shake it a bit before each use – but easy enuf. I used the new Maybelline color corrector pen in green before I got this and that works pretty good as well, but I prefer this NYX one. The Maybelline one is slightly drier and thicker in consistency so doesn't spread as easily as this, That one would be great for just spot correcting. This NYX one covers your whole face so easily and feels great on. No breakouts and I've even fallen asleep once or twice with this on (bad, yes, I know!).anja.p

I don’t buy a lot of black radiance products but when I saw that this was a poor minimizing primer I decided to give it a shot. I have been using this for about three days and I have to say that I am really pleased with how it truly minimizes the poor and gives my make up a matte finish without it looking completely mat. It still looks natural which I love so I’m not trying to look like a filter or anything but I like to look as natural as possible in and this minimizes pores and gives me a natural matte finish without it looking too over the top. It doesn’t have much of a smell to it and the crew the texture is like a satin feels so it feels nice it doesn’t feel oily or greasy it doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily or greasy either. I really like this primer I will be getting more when I run out and this is some thing that I would recommend to anybody who’s looking for a primer to help minimize your pores and give you a nice Matte natural lookLorienlnj

I used this several times. I have combination oily skin with a slight red color. My skin is far from perfect after having my son due to acne so I always try to use a primer to help conceal a bit of the texture and redness. I haven't noticed a difference from the green tint or from holding my makeup or texture. I feel like it is just an extra step. Plus the pump sucks you have to pump it a hundred times and then when the product does finally come out you get way too much.Wilsoncm

This primer is actually really good. A glides up on my face and it just melts into my skin. It definitely helps my make up last as well as it sets a foundation for my foundation. I’m able to use my oil base sunscreen and it not mess up with this primer. I really liked the primer speak at first I was a little scared but once I put it on my face it definitely gave me a little glow that I love and I didn’t feel heavy at all. There’s good and bad to this formula, I loved the original Porefessionals primer so I had extremely high hopes for this one as well. It’s a very thick, silicone based primer meant to fill in pores and give your skin a healthy, radiant glow. I have big pores so it is difficult finding a product that blurts them completely. This primer does a decent job. Nothing too extraordinary but definitely disguised my pores a little. I honestly think the does a better job when it comes to disguising pores and it’s significantly cheaper. What really won me over with this product is the glow that it provides the amazing base it sets for an all day, flawless makeup look without any streaking or lifting. My husband even commented how healthy my skin looks when I use this primer. While applying it, I did have some issues with the primer balling and clumping up but it is very easy to smooth out and definitely doesn’t clump again throughout the day. You’re makeup applies so smoothly over this primer, and stays looking flawless throughout the day. All in all, this is a decent primer. I definitely prefer the original , I feel it does a little bit of a better job blurring my pores. That being said, I don’t regret my purchase of the benefit pearl primer…. but in the future I will probably be sticking to the original. But if pores aren’t a HUGE issue for you, I highly recommend this product. It is amazing in every other aspectkristy.g

The Porefessional has a cult following for a reason. This stuff really works. The only other product that I have used that is hyper similar is Dr. Brandt Pores No More. The Porefessional Pearl is truly just like the original except has a soft pink tint. Just adds a soft, backlit quality to the skin. I even tap some into my under eyes for a brightening effect. It’s soft and doesn’t show through foundation in any crazy way but looks like healthy skin. Skin surface looks and feels smoother, softer , and pores are smaller after applying. This is going to work for many skin types. Mine is combination and the oil in my T Zone begins to break my makeup down after a few hours and it doesn’t look cute. The first time I used this primer I looked at the mirror forever admiring my boss makeup. It was so together after hours of wear. I am completely in love 😍 It’s not cheap, but you won’t have to sell your smart watch for it either. The full size has lasted me nearly six months. I have repurchased both versions but prefer the Pearl one for the soft pink glow. If you are going to try a primer, this would be the one I would recommend.julie.c

The Pearl PROFESIONAL Primer has become one of my essential products. I went into my local retail shop recently and was very disappointed they no longer have it. They informed me that the Pearl is being discontinued. As I see it at a reduced price here, I am very worried that information may have been true. This primer is the only one that works for my skin. This is my favorite product!! I can wear/use this in so many ways!!! Most days I wear this on its own without makeup, over my SPF moisturizer. Sometimes I use it as a primer to a foundation. My favorite way to use it is to mix it with a concealer! It makes my concealer go on so much smoother and makes it less tacky or cakey! I even sometimes mix this with a few dabs of the Skin Perfect Primer! My only complaint is that it doesn't contain SPF, but it goes over my SPF nicely!Mallory A.

I started wearing this Hydrablur Primer and combine with the Age Smart Primer with SPF once the Pandemic started. I had read that Primer fares better with the facr masks that we had to start wearing with the Pandemic. My normal daily routine ends with the Hydrablur followed by the Age Smart with SPF. I feel they provide enough coverage for me and I love the way my skin feels with them, nice and smooth. I have very sensitive skin, so it's hard to find a foundation that doesn't irritate my skin, that also doesn't feel heavy. I definitely love the feel and coverage of the Dermalogica primers. the best pore filling primer I have ever used hands down. I have used many on the market but this one isn’t a gimmick it’s legit. It makes my base look so smooth and like an actual filter and adds a nice glow to the skin. I absolutely love this product and the coverage is great in that a little goes a long way- seriously.
