20 Best Facial Products For Oily Skin (Jan 2023 Update)

This cleanser is really good. There are lots of comments in regard to the new formula being worse than the old, which has NOT been my experience. ( it’s just a cleanser list of ingredients! ). This gentle foaming cleanser defends against 5 signs of skin barrier, dryness, irritation, roughness, and tightness. It’s not harsh on my skin at all. I massage the product into my ski for 60 seconds then rinse and follow the rest of my daily routine. This product goes on light and smooth and leaves my skin feeling fresh and healthy. I don’t care for the smell though, hence I less the star rating. What I love about this cleanser it is effective, but gentle without stripping or leaving my skin feeling dry. The original formula left my skin feeling dry. I’m so happy they improved the formula with glycerine because my skin feels refreshed and moisturized! First off, I’m an esthetician so I’m a bit of a skin care snob. Things that I do love about this cleanser is that the company reworked the formula and took out the parabens and all of the harmful ingredients that it use to use. The cleanser is definitely gentle and good for sensitive skin. But it doesn’t have any actual active ingredients that would help with acne. So if your expecting it to cure any acne. It won’t. It would be best if used as a pre-cleanse before an active cleanser or if your on a medication that prevents you from using active ingredients. It doesn’t even fully remove my foundation and I don’t use a heavy foundation.jeana.w

This is one of my top favorites for cleansing. A dermatologist recommended it to me years ago. It’s effective yet gentle enough for sensitive skin. Removes makeup well too. No breakouts or irritation! I mainly use this when I’m having a bad hormonal acne flare up or if my skin is just being extra picky. Keeps things clean without stripping oils or your natural barrier, doesn’t dehydrate, and helps to soothe/heal. Full disclosure I was entirely prepared to hate this and give it a bad review as it wouldn’t work for me like most others didn’t but I’m so glad I was proved wrong. I’m someone who is sooo picky when it comes to moisturizers because I always hated how thick and oily they felt on my skin. While I do have combination leaning oily skin I was a bit apprehensive on its claims but I truly 100% am loving this. It is super lightweight which is something I always try to find in any moisturizer because I need for it to be lifht right AND effective. It sinks into your skin fairly quickly and doesn’t leave the skin feeling wet at all. Makes true on its fragrance free promise bc i can’t smell a thing and my skins gotten a bit more sensitive as I got older so that’s great! I’ve been wearing it as my moisturizer under my makeup and I really like how it feels. First impression when unboxing: The box and bottle are the same as the traditional packaging, simple, effective, pleasing to the eye. I opened the flip cap and took a whiff, there’s a light scent that reminds me of tanning lotion/sunscreen (kind of like that cooking bacon-esque scent). I read other reviews saying that a little goes a long way so I squeezed out a pea sized amount. The formula is super light, and is a water gel consistency (which made me nervous for the mattifying factor). I started with the back of my hand to see a comparison. A little definitely went a long way, and traveled up my entire forearm. I compared my hands and the hand with the product was significantly less shiny, and all of the cracks (it’s cold and dry where I am at the moment) were blurred. I tried it on my face and it definitely mattified my oily areas, but I wasn’t sure how hydrated I was. This can be a good and a bad thing depending on how you look at it. It wasn’t greasy and didn’t leave behind a film, but at the touch it felt like I didn’t have anything on and felt like I needed to reapply. When I did reapply though, it felt like I overused product so it definitely achieved its claim to fame. It’s not my holy grail but I’ll definitely use the whole tube especially since it didn’t break out my sensitive/acne prone skin.julia.s

I'm not particularly wowed by this product, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. I do think this moisturizer lives up to its claims – matte finish, good for oily/combo skin types. My skin used to run on the oily side until I really got into skincare. Now my skin is more normal, though still acne prone.I've been using this moisturizer daily, AM PM. it does the job, but I don't mind a more hydrated look, hell, even feeling more hydrated would be nice too – something I'm not really getting with this moisturizer. If you like a more matte moisturizer, then this one is for you. Texture reminds me of a gel-cream, so not the sticky jelly texture like some gel moisturizers.The design of the cap also isnt the best. one of the two attachments broke after only 2 uses. they're too wide set apart from each other compared to other squeeze tubes that I use. As a licensed esthetician, my daily beauty routine is important to me. Keeping my skin as clear and healthy as possible is a passion for me. Ive been waiting to review this product because I just wasnt sure about it. If I could, Id give it 3.5 stars. Let me start by saying I have very problematic skin. My skin is super dry and easily irritated. A lot of moisturizers exacerbate my skin problems. I chose this because I thought the oil free formula might give my skin the breathing room it needs. Unfortunately, the product is refreshing but not at all moisturising. If my skin is dry and I apply it, my skin still looks dry and flaky a few minutes after application. It is necessary to use another moisturizer. Luckily, the dramatically different moisturising lotion came in a grab bag I purchased at the same time and I loved it. Ended up buying a large bottles as I was burning through the 50 ml.I use a hyaluronic acid serum under my moisturizer in the evenings, and the hydrating jelly feels a lot like that product. Indeed, hyaluronic acid is one of the key ingredients. If you think of this product as a serum, then its good bang for your buck. Or, if you have oily skin, this could definitely be a good product for you. Ive also tried applying it in the morning under my tinted moisturizer which works okay. However, the jelly does leave behind a slightly sticky residue that is more noticeable when other products are added on top. Giving it time to absorb before applying make up or another moisturizer helps.Anonymous

LISTEN I’ve tried DOZENS of moisturizers for my greasy, oily skin and this one is one of the only ones that doesn’t leave my skin looking like my face was just soaked in oil yet still hydrates and smoothens out my pores and texture. Not sticky at all and it just feels comfortable. Other moisturizers end up feeling greasy after 1-2 hours. This one just feels so clean and absorbs soooo well into the skin. I probably have the most oily skin in the world so trust me when I say this stuff actually controls oil it’s crazy. My skin is olive/tan with hyperpigmentation, acne scars from years ago, large pores, and horomonal acne…the most difficult skin to deal with especially around my period because I get a lot of hormonal breakouts (white heads and cysts). Trust me this stuff is amazing. Just for reference other moisturizers that have also worked for me are the neutrogena hydroboost gel and the drunk elephant peptide something. I still like this one better. Only gel moisturizers will work for me and this one helps tremendously. It also works flawlessly with all of my makeup.KParra888

I have really oily skin and this moisturizing gel works for me. I was hesitant to try Clinique moisturizer again after having a horrible experience with the original lotion a few years ago (I broke out so badly I actually have a few small scars and bumps to this day). But this is very different from the lotion IMO. The gel texture is light and refreshing and doesn’t exacerbate my oily skin; also totally unscented. It’s not mattifying exactly but it doesn’t make extra shine. When I wake up my skin looks and feels soft, not super greasy like most night creams I have tried. I use the Sephora mattifying moisturizer on my face during the day and use this gel on my neck and the two small dry patches I have on my chin. So far this routine is working well for me and I’m really happy with it. I would recommend for oily skin, this comes in a small tube if you just want to try it out.sparkledragon

I have been using Clinique products for 40 years including their liquid facial soap. I have always purchased the jumbo 13.5 oz size in this soap. Since this smaller size was such a good value I decided to stock up. I put one of these smaller sizes in my shower. Even though Clinique says it is fragrance free it normally has a slight crisp, clean smell thats reminds me of the smell of water while sitting next to a swimming pool. This particular bottle had a different smell to it and actually made my face burn while using it. Fingers crossed this is a bad batch Clinique is not changing their formula for this liquid facial soap. I thought it odd too that I ordered 4 when they arrived 3 were shrink wrapped together the 4th was by itself thats the one I tried. Possibly the other 3 were a different batch and may have been fine. I did not open all of them. I hope QVC gets more of the jumbo size bottle in oily so I can order more.Anonymous

I have combination oily, aging, sometimes sensitive skin, prone to acnemilia, and I use the facial soap for oily skin. It is a liquid gel consistency and doesnt necessarily foam, but is effective at removing my sunscreen, moisturizer, sweat, sebum, the little makeup that I wear, and any dirtpollution. If you wear makeup, Id recommend using makeup remover first, then finish with this cleanser. I turn cleansing into a massage using this product, to give the active ingredients time to work, on my face, ears, neck, decollete, and the bumpy areas on the back of my upper arms KP. My face feels fresh and clean, not stripped, and there is a lovely cooling minty sensation on my skin as the water evaporates. It is a lovely experience On days when my skin feels like it might react to actives or the minty fresh sensation, I use Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser instead, as a backup plan, but this is my preferred cleanser. Also, a little goes a long wayit only takes one or two pumps of product per cleansing. Id recommend this for anyone with oily skin, male or female its unscented and gender neutral, but if acne is a bigger problem, go with the acne line of products Clinique offers. I follow cleansing with this soap with Clarifying Lotion 3 exfoliant toner and Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel or Jelly both are oil freethe DDM lotion has oils. I would think that this soap would be drying without some kind of moisturizer, even a light oilfree moisturizer.Anonymous

I love the product, been using it for years. Although, the older version of the Extra Mild was better, but works great! I only have one comment. Why they got rid of the pump? If they really wanted to be more green, could offer an option of the exactly same bottle without the pump as a refill. But no, they changed the bottle, so you can't used the older bottle pump. And of course, now without the pump, you used more product each time, so the bottle now last less. Way to go Clinique geniuses, trying to past a marketing strategy as a green strategy!Maru

Finally found the perfect cleanser for my face and skin type. I've already noticed a huge difference in overall oil reduction, texture, and clogged pores, so I'm pleased. I have combo oily/dry skin on my face, so some areas over produce oil and some areas are drier than a desert. But a couple of things I noticed about this cleanser is it works really well to unclog the oily areas and keep them moisturized a bit. After about 4 days, I did notice the salicylic acid starting to work and my face was flaking off, but that's what it's supposed to do. So I added some Jergens Ultra Healing lotion to my routine and WOW it's effective. The dry parts of my face are moist, the oily parts are moist but not oily. Would recommend.Luftherz

I have been dealing with constant breakouts for years, since middle school, and I’m 22 now. I just started using this face wash in May 2022 and it has been a life saver. Not only did it clear my breakouts but if I do breakout, it’s one or two pimples. Which for me is more than manageable and an improvement. It also has gradually been fading my acne scars as well. I have now sworn by this face wash to friends and family. This face wash is extremely gentle as my skin didn’t “purge” like it has when I first started using other face washes. I received the CeraVe Acne Control Cleanser for reviewing purposes. I have combination skin nose and chin very oily, forehead is super dry rest of face is normal. I also get hormonal acne. With all that said I find this product actually whole line really great. I have only been using for about 3 weeks so I am just over the purging stage but I am seeing my pores getting smaller also not having as much redness. It also great at getting a full face of makeup off. I recommend this product to everyone just know your skin will do a pruge so your skin will look worst before it looks better.Sami

How did I not know about this product before! I am nearly 39 and wish I had this in my life much sooner. Have been using for a couple of weeks and I am so impressed. I have quite oily skin that starts to look oily very quickly after cleansing and moisturising etc, but this keeps me oil free all day! It does work better if I don't wear make-up, if I put foundation or powder on then it's performance time is a little shorter, but regardless its the best moisturiser I have come across for controlling oil. I can even put this over the top of another moisturiser that makes me shiny (if I need a bit more hydration) and it takes the shine away and it still works all day. I have oily skin and would start shining after couple of hours of applying any face cream. Other products always make me feel like I have something heavy on my face and my skin cannot breathe under them so my pores would look even larger. But this product has been amazing for my face! I have ridiculously oily skin. I’m talking about so-oily-you could cook-with-the-amount-of-oil-on-my-face, and it really didn’t do anything to keep the oil away. The Southern California humidity isn’t as bad as in some other places, but still. I’m pretty bummed because Caudalie usually has some pretty good products and I’m always looking for ways to mattify my skin. It also took me a while to figure out the best way to put this on. Upon application, I loved how lightweight it felt and how quickly it absorbed and didn’t leave a sticky feeling. However, one should never leave the house without SPF, so I experimented with ways to add this to my routine. No matter if I mixed this with my SPF or if I applied this first and then the SPF, my skin would still look and feel not quite oily, but not very matte. Bummer, right? It does have a nice, clean scent to it. I’m pretty sure it’s just the standard Vinopure line scent. It might be a big strong for those who are sensitive to scents, though. All in all, it was pretty underwhelming in terms of oil control, but it still felt nice as a moisturizer. I wouldn’t say it’s now my go-to. I’ll continue using it until I run out, but I won’t purchase it. #freeproducttrywithtopbox

I have combination skin that can get very oily during the warm, humid summer months. As a result, It can be a struggle finding a moisturizer that is lightweight enough for me to wear during the day while still hydrating my skin. The vinopure oil-control moisturizer did a wonderful job of this and was even great when worn under makeup! I frequently have issues of my foundation breaking up after a few hours of wear if I use skincare before application, but this product didn't have that effect. It was lightly hydrating, enough that my skin felt smooth and plump, and it absorbed very quickly which i appreciated. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that this product is fragrance-free since it does have a light scent to it but fragrances can be irritating to my skin. I also love that is comes in a tube! it may not feel as luxe as a pretty glass jar but it is far more hygienic and easier to use. I received a free sample of Caudalie's Vinopure Oil-Control Moisturizer for Acne Prone Skin from Topbox Circle. Receiving a #freeproduct did NOT cause me to leave a positive review. I actually DO have oily, blemish prone skin. Normally I can't wear makeup or BB cream for more than an hour before my oily skin causes the makeup/BB cream to break up, look blotchy and patchy, and just overall terrible…. No matter what I apply to my face beforehand. The best mattifying primers and setting powders are just no match for my oily skin. The photo with the blue wall in the background is the "before" photo. I had just taken a shower and dried my hair. No product applied to my face at all, and you can already see my face is starting to look oily. In the other photo, several hours later, the only products I've used all day are the Vinopure Oil-Control Moisturizer for Acne Prone Skin, Purlisse BB cream, and mascara. No primer, no touch ups or oil blotting sheets, no setting powder, no nothin. My face looks a little shiny but honestly it looks so much better than normal. My makeup isn't sliding off my face! Ive been using this moisturizer after showering in the morning, and after washing my face at night. It doesn't feel greasy at all and hasn't caused any new breakouts for me. The only reason I'm giving a 4 star rating is because I find the scent totally repulsive… Thankfully the scent doesn't last long. If you're on the fence I think it's worth a try.lisatron138

This product is great. I've been using it for about two weeks now and have already noticed a dramatic difference. My skin has a more matte look to it and is way less oily. My skin tone is more even too. My boyfriend even said My skins been looking so glowy lately!! The smell is wonderful and not overpowering, smells like cucumber and ginger kind of, it's very subtle. My one suggestion would be to not buy this as a replacement for a moisturizer as it's not very hydrating. This, for me personally, was way too drying. It definitely does what it says it does: absorbs oil. The cucumber smell is very refreshing, and the umbrian clay certainly leaves skin looking matte, but my skin doesn't quite need the oil absorbing power that I once thought I needed. My holy grail I found this product through youtube rave and Im usually not one to want to go with the trends because many products are often overhyped in my opinion. I saw that kathleenlights used this and we share several of the same problems with our skin dry, redness, etc. She said that it was not harsh on her sensitive skin and helped with the dryness. I ordered it online and was so excited for it to come in. So happy i made this purchase. One of the best purchases of 2015 for me. My skin is sooo sensitive and so many products make me break out, but not this one. I simply soak it onto a cotton round and use it to remove makeup or to just clean and refresh while gently moisturizing my face. I notice after i use this, my face feels really soft. It is not at all harsh because its been near my eyes and it does not burn. It has a very light, fresh clean smell. I use it to remove makeup, wash my face, apply toner, then moisturize. This has made my skin significantly healthier looking and doesnt strip my skin of its nutrients and helps balance out oiliness and keeps my face looking smooth. I have sensitive acne prone skin. I scratched my current oil based “ clean beauty” skincare routine after months of crappy results. Got rid of all the fancy products I didnt use and did not work and stuck to a simple quality routine. I gave myself a 60 day adjustment. It worked wonders for my skin. This is a nice serum. I only use it at night time, but have noticed a difference since I started adding it to my nighttime routine. When I wake up in the morning I notice that old spots have gone down and my overall skin texture has started to smooth out. My skin just looks bright in the morning compared to dull and just blah without this in my routine. I also use this on my neck at night. My neck had two discolored lines and they’ve gone down and overall smoothed out. The texture on my neck has dramatically smoothed out and I think a lot has to do with this serum. I use the brightening toner in the morning and this serum at night. I don’t put any other stuff on my neck other than my cleanser and moisturizer so I know my results are mainly from adding niacinamide. My neck looks like more of a match to my face, and when you’re aging like me matching my neck to my face is a good thing. Before I incorporated this to my routine my neck started showing pretty decent signs of aging. It was also discolored from left over tans in the past. So it helped make things more even. I wish I’d taken before photos to compare. Always cleansed and moisturised my skin with decent quality products but in January my skin was making me look old, it was dull and I was constantly battling texture, clogged pores on nose and build up of rough surface layer that looked dreadful under makeup. Now use a range of good molecules products and my skin looks smoother, brighter and more youthful. I’m not needing to rely on harsh physical exfoliants either. Started with niacinamide and once I knew my skin tolerates it I added the gentle retinol cream. These both improved my skin, recently added the pineapple exfoliating powder and vitamin C powder which further improved my skin. Squalane oil is nice to layer on afterwards to soothe skin. Does require research/reading info to check which products you can use together though but totally worth it.CC

I'm very weary about trying out new skincare products after having dealt with hormonal and cystic acne from the ages of 16-20. By 20, I received a medical diagnosis that explained why my skin got the way it got, and with treatment for said diagnosis, my skin has been doing really well ever since. I have been left with acne scars (ice pick scars) that have smoothed out naturally over time and lots of aloe vera, but was ready to try something new. THIS PRODUCT completely changed the game for me!! My skin was smooth the NEXT day, and using it twice a day as instructed made a very noticeable difference after four days of use. I am obsessed with this moisturizer. I work in the skincare world so I’ve bought and been gifted and tried a million moisturizers and this has quickly become my go to. It’s the perfect every day moisturizer, not too thin but not too thick either. Feels so smooth and hydrating going on, never leaves me feeling greasy or oily. I just stared to use a stronger prescription retinoid (tretinon) and this moisturizer layers on top of it perfectly, keeps my skin from being too dry or flaky, and is great day or night. I have tried many many moisturizers over the years and this is definitely in my top five! First of all I was skeptical when I first got it because when you squeeze it out it looks like lotion, and I was like heck nah I ain't putting lotion on my face so I did a spot test on my hand before I did a spot test on my cheek (plz always do spot tests, you never know how your skin is going to react to a new product) GIRL it doesn't look like it would glide on thick but it's THICC, with two Cs. A little goes a longggg way, you can feel the hydration after one use. and if you don't want a thicc moisturizer, don't buy this but if you do it's perfect for you! I thoroughly enjoyed using the Hero bacteria Balance Moisturizer! It went on my face easily and didn't feel sticky or greasy which was great! Also it didn't have any bad smell. I happened upon this site by chance while searching for aftershave. It was just a couple of months ago, and my "routine" was to brush my teeth in the morning, and at night shower with Irish spring bar soap and whatever shampoo/conditioner was on sale at CVS. I saw the free sample offer, and figured, why not? I was completely blown away. The first thing that I used was the charcoal face soap, in the morning shortly after waking up. I'd never used a soap that left me feeling so clean, but was so gentle on my face. And the subtle minty coolness-it was invigorating, I felt fully awake and ready to start my day. I always thought that "invigorating face wash" was marketing BS that sounded good, but didn't really mean anything. After that, I went through the samples a bit more seriously, and started using the serums and creams in the morning and at night, and started to notice that my skin looked and felt healthier, which was something that I never paid attention to or cared about. I was pleasantly surprised with how long the tiny sample tubs lasted, too, which put the price point into perspective. The premium price tag is because they are premium products with high quality ingredients that work very well in small amounts. I made sure to place my first real order soon enough that I wouldn't run out of anything and break my new routine. Fast forward to today, I started my day by washing my face with charcoal face wash, followed by spritzing with toner, an application of day serum, and moisturized with eye balm and resurfacing cream. After a long, hot day of work in the kitchen, I showered with the all-purpose hair and body wash, after getting out, another spritz of toner, used the renewing face scrub before shaving- I haven't tried Brickell shave oil or cream yet, those are next-followed by your aftershave. Before bed, another round of charcoal soap, night serum, eye balm, and revitalizing cream. This has gotten a bit long, but I wanted to use the review of this routine to mention how much I love all of these Brickell products. I'm so pleasantly surprised, I had absolutely zero intention to ever purchase anythjng, and didn't give even the tiniest…heck…about skin care. But my skin just feels healthy and happy, I feel cleaner, I'm really blown away as someone who never considered a "routine". I’ve always been a big believer in Prevention is the best for of treatment. I broke out insanely, like never before. So i started to search for face washes, moisturizers, etc. at first i found harry’s..loved it..used an aveeno face moisturizer with the best reviews on amazon and considered number 1..hated the smell & it irritated my eyes..go figure it seemed to have some weird gold flakes or sparkles lol screw that. It was decent though, gotta give credit where its due. I wasn’t completely satisfied, with the moisturizer at least. Harry’s body wash stopped my body breakouts it was great. Then i remembered using brickells clarifying gel face wash. I think during that time was when my face was the clearest and nicest…so i did my research on amazon, but saw a review about a sample..decided to order. WOW. Not a single breakout from mostly using face wash and moisturizer twice a day as they recommend. No oily skin, no acne, dark spots going away, nice dry feel but my face looks good. I like to keep it simple. So i went with the face care routine. Turns out clarifying gel dried my skin…so it wasn’t for me now. I now use the purifying charcoal face wash with the moisturizer. All i need. You get what you pay for guys. Also i doubt these things only last 2 months haha. You need the tiniest amount of moisturizer. The face wash super liquid but you don’t need much either. I have noticed a steady improvement in men's skincare over the last several years and I have to say your products are right up there with some of the best I have used. I turn 52 this year and although look younger I'm vain and want to keep it that way as long as I can…lol! I started with this trio and have recently ordered an additional face wash and added the face scrub this time to give it a try along with the charcoal body bar and the free sample kit to try out some other products in your line. The face wash is absolutely a five star. Great lather, great fragrance, and a little goes a long way. Clean feel and most importantly truly clean skin and I'm talking up close. Pores are debris free and way less inflammation than I've gotten from some other cleansers. The only reason I'm ordering so soon is because my husband has commendered it and it's going a little faster. The one thing I am most picky about with skincare is a moisturizer and this one is perfect. I have oily/combination skin and live in a humid climate about 4-5 months out of the year and this stuff isn't heavy at all, absorbs nicely and does what I need it to do and gives a really nice matte finish to my skin. A little goes a long way, like seriously less than a dime size does my whole face and neck. The toner is lighter in fragrance which I am fine with and doesn't dry my skin out or make it feel tight but works for controlling oil and getting rid of razor burn. How did you do that? : ) This was a great way to start using your products or if someone is looking to just use a small and simple 3 step skincare system. I also purchased the mask and let me tell you a little goes a long way. It took a couple of times to get the application right but I'm all good now! Looking forward to adding in a few additional products and doubt very much that I'll be disappointed. Also, your turnaround time from order to shipping to receiving is the fastest I have ever seen. Best cleanser I’ve used. I finally have control over my breakout/cystic acne-prone skin and I have confidence, which is all too important. This has kept my skin clearer and has helped with oiliness better than any other wash I’ve used (I use this combined with the Cera Ve face lotion) and I live in FL, so that’s saying something! It keeps my skin balanced despite the changing weather, from the dryness to the humidity. For those who tend to automatically say something makes their face break out… there’s a difference between your skin breaking out/flaring up/having a bad reaction versus having it purge from a new product. I will tell you that in the beginning I went through some skin purging for a couple weeks. Please Google/know the difference. (: Leave it alone, be kind to your skin. Afterwards my skin cleared up and has stayed clear and clean and nice for months. Even after I got pregnant and with all the hormonal changes, this has maintained my skin so, so well. I can’t recommend this wash enough (and Cera Ve products in general, add the face lotion, too!). But again, just be patient! Skin miracles will not happen overnight. I am a massive skincare enthusiast and I have tested probably 60 cleansers in my skincare journey. And I ALWAYS come back to this one. I have probably gone through 30 bottles of this. This is one of the least drying foaming cleansers I have ever tried. This is one of those foaming cleansers that does NOT leave your face even remotely squeaky clean once you rinse it from your face. No joke. When you rinse it away, your skin feels slippery and smooth still; not even the faintest amount of "squeakiness" at all. Now… if you pat your face dry and let your face get bone dry afterward- of course your face will get dry! Some people do this and judge the cleanser for being "drying"- ANY cleanser, even hydrating ones, will feel drying if you don't hydrate the skin immediately after cleansing with serums and moisturizers. You shouldn't be allowing your face to dry down anyways. As soon as you cleanse, walk to your counter and apply your first serum onto damp skin. I digress. This cleanser is absolutely incredible. I think the ceramides and humectants are a nice buffer against dryness. I will use this cleanser for life. It also makes an amazing body wash and a little goes a long wayStephen

I read the reviews for this after I bought it and was kinda scared it would break me out. Turns out my fears were unfounded. My skin is fairly sensitive and I'm prone to ingrown hairs. Of course, YMMV, but this stuff has been working wonders for my skin, and I use it right after shaving when my skin is most sensitive. I'm not sure if the other reviewers received a bad batch, left the product on too long, or had an allergic reaction to a component within, but I have had zero issues and have nothing but good things to say about this stuff. To be on the safe side, I moisturize heavily and apply an alcohol-free aftershave as soon as I finish washing my face. I have to use a mixture of Vaseline with cocoa and either Uncle Jon's Lime Up aftershave, Lime skin food, and/or Proraso Azure Lime aftershave balm. The results speak for themselves. Using just Vaseline leaves my skin greasy, and using just an aftershave leaves my skin dry. I highly recommend Uncle Jon's Lime Up aftershave to use in conjunction with this, especially if you use this after you shave.ai.h

What I love about Paula Begoun's skincare range is firstly: the transparency. An explanation is given for each ingredient so you know exactly what you're putting onto/into your skin. Secondly there's ample opportunity to trial the products via a sample size on the website. Not to mention a good returns policy. The 2% BHA lotion was one of the products that I invested in full size (along with a bunch of samples) and funnily enough was my least favorite out of everything I ordered. It's not that it broke me out or disagreed with me in any way, it just didn't do much for me. Even after the first 3 weeks of usage, gradually built up to twice daily applications, my skin still looked exactly the same as before I started using it. Pores, blemishes, oiliness, you name it…zero difference! It's unfortunate, as I skipped the option of a sample pack, thinking it wouldn't be enough product to give it a fair try. I was somehow convinced this 1 bottle would be the answer to all my skincare woes (not entirely sure what lead me to believe that!). The good: it wasn't harsh on my skin like many BHA products can be, and the application was well controlled, never too much or too little. I don't normally post reviews, but when I see something actually make improvements to my skin I've gotta share my experience because I know there's so much BS in products these days. But Paulas Choice 2% for the win! I got a small sample bottle for $10. I read the reviews and was a little nervous to do it everyday because of what people were saying…but that wasn't my experience. I used it everyday, morning & night. I shook the bottle 3 times into my hand and smoothed it over my entire face. I was using the cotton pads at first, and just doing on the areas that needed it but then I ran out of the pads so I put it in my hands and honestly, it worked way better when I was just using my hands to spread it because it seemed to soak into my face better. I saw people say that their face would get irritated by using it everyday and the way to use it correctly and see results was to use it once a week… so I just wanted to see how my face would react the next day but nothing felt bad and I decided to do it again in the morning. I loved how it felt on my skin, and I only had 1 flare up and that was a week later May 26-27th (Photos Included) The pimple went away quickly and I still decided to put the product on my face Night & Day. I saw people say it isn't good for sun exposure so not to use it during the day, but I am staying home at the moment so I don't go outside as often, maybe 20 mins a day. So I took that caution with a grain of salt. If you go outside more, maybe you should listen to that warning lol. I am not a product expert of how to use it correctly, all I know is I used it night and day and the hyperpigmentation/dark spots on my forehead have really toned down and my skin looks a lot more smooth/brighter which I love. I always feel like I'm glowing and it feels spa like when I put it on, it's got a nice relaxing smell and a nice soothing texture to it that isn't too oily. This is my tried and true holy grail exfoliator. No matter what I try, I always come back to this one. I have emptied soooo many bottles of this. I have very sensitive, combination (super dry/normal in the winter & oily/normal in the summer but I can still use this product all year around despite my skin type) and acne prone skin. I have to say that I hated this product the very first time I tried it–it stung my skin. It was to the point where I ran into the bathroom to wash it off my face after just a few mins of applying it. I really tried to like the product but the sting was too painful and the SMELL of this is absolutely atrocious. The product smells like acetone to me and I probably gagged in about 20 different languages when I put it on my face for the first time (although I would rather it smell disgusting than have them add a ton fragrance to the product. My skin doesn't do will with heavy fragrances). I left this on my vanity for a few months before I picked it up again–I just didn't want to waste my money. Someone told me to dilute the product with water on a cotton pad–I tried it and it didn't sting my face nearly as bad but still some intense tingling going on. But the next morning, I noticed how soft and rejuvenated my skin looked and felt. I continued to use it once a week and I fell in love with the product and slowly stopped diluting it as much as my skin got used to it. After 4-5 years of using this religiously 2-3 times a week, I still feel tingling on my skin when I use it but I've gotten use to the feeling and the horrible smell because the results are worth it. Due to my sensitive skin, I absolutely can NOT use this product more than 2-3 times a week. This product is wonderful. It takes me about a little less than a year.Vic

Until recently my skin never seemed to have a huge problem with blemishes and acne, but over this past summer I've been experiencing very angry, painful, red breakouts on my face that I managed to identify as cystic acne after some researching on Google, as well as smaller whiteheads and blackheads that were bothering me. This worked like a miracle. The set advertises that it lasts for 4 weeks of consecutive daily and nightly use, which I can definitely confirm. I'm currently in my fourth week of using this product and it's still going strong – I think I can probably get a fifth week out of these bottles before having to repurchase. When it does come time to repurchase, I will definitely buy the full-size cleansing foam and the full-size cleansing lotion, however the all-over clearing treatment (which I think is supposed to be the 'moisturiser' product of the set) can probably be given a miss. The cleansing foam is great, it's pretty gentle on the skin and you only need two pumps to wash your whole face. It leaves your skin feeling clean but not dry – my skin felt SO soft to the touch after using it that I look forward to washing my face every morning and night. The cleansing lotion, which is essentially a very strong toner, is what I think works the miracle on your skin. Yes, it has a fairly intense chemical smell that might be off-putting at first, and if you have any open cuts or spots on your face then it might sting for a second. But honestly, this thing is incredible. Within a week ALL my cystic acne had gone right down and was no longer painful, and within two weeks, my skin had no raised bumps and the redness was fading from everywhere. It even started to fade older scars I have from when I was young and still picked at spots – nothing else has been able to fade those in years! After three weeks, I noticed a considerable reduction of the size of the blackheads on my nose, and I expect that by the time I'm done with week 4, they'll practically be gone completely. That toner doesn't mess around, it will get rid of every last bit of pollution (great if you live in a city like me), old makeup and oil off your face. What I will say is that you should avoid using this on your under-eye area, and finish off after every wash with an eye cream (doesn't have to be super expensive, just something hydrating). The all-over clearing treatment is alright – I would definitely use up the tube that comes in the set for as long as it lasts, but I don't know if I'll need to repurchase that; I use a sunscreen on my face every day that can substitute for a moisturiser, and any lightweight oil-free moisturiser would be a fine substitute for the night time. Overall, I really can't recommend this enough. It's completely saved my skin and helped me feel so much more confident about not wearing makeup, my skin feels soft and smooth and flawless, and I just feel like I have a healthy glow back to my face. I really really wanted to love this product after seeing amazing reviews online for it. I bought the smaller sizes as I wanted to see if they worked first before purchasing the full sized ones as I did contemplate this at one point but I am very glad I didn't. I'm 19 and have suffered from moderate-severe (at times) acne. I have been on multiple medications and spot treatment such as Duac with benzoyl peroxide etc however these started to have no effect on my skin after using them for long periods of time so I deceived to try this system out. As I wear full coverage foundation I was adviced by a Clinique member of staff to use a simple makeup remover before hand and then use the wash, cleanser and cream. I did this every night and morning, religiously for 16 days. Initially my skin did look less inflamed within the first 3 days and my spots seemed to reduce in size to small white heads. However, after about 5-7 days, my skin gradually started to flair up, I noticed a lot of oil on my skin in the mornings as the product, personally wasn't strong enough to dry up that excess oil that causes spots. But, I continued in hope it would soon settle down, but to my dismay it only got worse to the extent that I don't think my skin has ever been so bad in my entire life. After nearly 3 weeks I decided to stop and have changed to a stronger more drying product that has significantly helped my skin get back on track. The products themselves are nice sizes, I'd say they would last around 5 weeks and I didn't scrimp and scrape and used them religiously twice a day. They smell nice and the package is of high quality, they no doubt clean the face as my skin would feel fresh after cleansing however I just believe the cream was not strong enough to decrease my oil production and in turn reduce my acne in any way. Clinique bringing out these smaller bottles is no doubt an excellent idea as you can try before you buy the normal size range as these are significantly more expensive. Of course these products definitely work for some people however unfortunately not for me. Onto the next product..Aimee

This is an amazing moisturizer for combination skin and acne-prone skin! The texture was really nice and felt great on the skin; it's light but moisturizing and doesn't weigh the skin down (you'll forget you were wearing it!) My bottle has lasted quite a while which goes to say that a little goes a long way with this product! I will say because it doesn't have the thickest coverage, I'm not sure how this would fare with people with drier skin types, so I only used this at night before bed during the winter. Overall, it was a great purchase, and I'd buy it again.simrat.s

This moisturizer is considered for sensitive skin that has a very lightweight texture, however, I have noticed that putting it on a damp skin can be really irritating, it burns the skin. So after cleansing your skin make sure it’s not damp to avoid burning sensation. My skin took a month and a half to adjust to it, however, I still sometimes get that burning sensation. Although I still cannot understand why it had that burning effect, my guess is probably a damaged skin barrier.. but who knows.. Also this moisturizer doesn’t have any specific scent, it’s fragrance free which is good for people with sensitive skin. And it is oil-free and non-comedogenic so it won’t clog pores. Wow wow wow! The name miracle clear for this line is SPOT ON! It really is a miracle how fast these products can clear your skin and keep your skin clear. The only downside to this moisturizer is that it smells a little weird, but it's not terrible and such a small price to pay for such a quality product. It's a soft cream texture that absorbs quickly and feels great going on. It moisturizes really well, while doing so much more as well. This moisturizer is pretty thick. I have sensitive, combo skin and I gotta say, after a few hours after applying, my skin is super oily. Initially, after applying, my skin feels super soft and great but it definitely doesn't stay that way all day. Not sure if it's helping my acne disappear since it's making my face more oily too. I had a few break outs and after using this, they disappeared in a few days.susantime

I have been using this for 18yrs and still going strong! I was using the typical “teenager” brands prior to this and when living with a couple friends just out of high school, I ran out of my usual face wash. One of my friends had this and let me use it and I have been hooked since. I have combination skin, leaning more towards oily. In winter, things get crazy dry including my skin. The rest of my body is itchy if I don’t use lotion but if I don’t put lotion on my face one day, it still feels and looks just fine. This face wash is perfection. I noticed there was a slight formula/fragrance change a couple years ago and got nervous it wouldn’t work well for me anymore but thankfully it is. I’m starting to have a hard time finding this in stores however and have started. Please please please do not discontinue this product!!Erin

i used this all throughout college and it was the BEST thing ever. i recent switched to cleansing balms because i wanted to try something new and better for travels. PROS: your makeup doesn’t stand a chance against this 1-2 pumps removed all waterproof makeup. you can have multiple layers caked on and the strongest matte lip or eyeliner — this will take it away clean feeling afterward EVERY time CONS: traveling with this was a nightmare — you cant twist the pump closed without pushing the pump down and letting product out. ended up putting it in travel containers, but i’m not a fan of doing so it does feel a little bit stripping, but not excessively so. i do have a thorough skincare regime that i follow to bring back moisture, though had a tough battle vs Lancome waterproof mascaras. i did have to massage my lashes a bit. this does not melt away makeup fast like oil-based cleansers and removers do, so don’t expect that! my reason to switch to balms was because i wanted to do a little less rubbing on my face and have something easier to pack. however, this is SUCH a solid product! i love it so much and keep some as backupdesirae.w

Not my favourite cleanser from Neutrogena for a few reasons. The BIGGEST reason I dislike this cleanser is because it is marketed towards sensitive skin….. yet for some reason the brand decided to formulate this with fragrance. Fragrance can irritate sensitive skin types so it is a little confusing as to why this product wasn’t made fragrance-free. On top of having a fragrance, the scent is comparable to household cleaners.. not really the vibe or sensorial experience I want from my skincare (if and when I want scented products). Another reason I dislike this cleanser is because it’s not very effective of removing makeup and due to the fragrance, I keep it far away from my sensitive eye area which partly defeated the purpose of a cleanser for me. Overall, I found this product stripping and irritating and I wouldn’t recommend this cleanser unless you have really resilient and oily skin that doesn’t irritate easily.dani.n

I spent years searching for a great cleanser – something that didn't leave me feeling squeaky clean but still did the job, something gentle, something that would work year-round and wouldn't irritate my skin – and this one checks every single box and then some. I've used this exclusively for two years now and even though I use it morning and night, the bottle lasts for months. I normally use micellar water before using this cleanser, but either way this does a really great job at taking off makeup and grime from the day – and a little goes a long way. Because this cleanser is such great quality, I really trust iS Clinical and I've purchased other items from them. So the promise of this product, according to label at least, is that it is very mild and suitable for sensitive skin, while also helping acne prone skin. And it's true that if you use it as a face wash, you are pleasantly surprised that your face is not tight or dry afterwards.

However, a quick look into its ingredients using www.incidecoder.com will show that this is some powerful stuff. It contains a source of salicylic acid (willow bark), a closely related source of glycolic acid (sugar cane), a form of Vitamin C and a form of Vitamin A. I don't know about you, but that sounds like trouble to me, if you have sensitive skin.

My experience with this cleanser is that, while it left my face feeling clean and not tight at all, it also left it irritated later on. It was very telling that both times I tried using it, the back of my hands started burning. Same for my neck. In both of those areas the skin is very sensitive and prone to irritation.

I would recommend this cleanser as maybe a once in a while exfoliating treatment, but definitely not on a daily basis.Luca E
