This is a decent bike. The seat is comfortable and is very supportive. It really helps with my arthritic legs and I am steadily losing weight. The only con is the computer . I called the company because it was defective( the display for everything keeps going out to where only a piece or two of numbers would show, it would not let me reset any of the counters and the calories was stuck); the company sent another replacement computer. The second one is malfunctioning because of the odometer(it never resets while everything else does). Although the computer is giving me problems, the seat adjusts like it is supposed to for height, the pedal system still works well and the tension works. I think it is an ok buy thus far and I have had it since October 15, 2018.amy1
I initially began looking for the typical upright style bike, but having a back problem, I turned to the recumbent style. As my wife was looking over my shoulder, she suggested I look at one with the back-rest support on it as well. I’m glad she said something…once I got the unit assembled, and tried it out, I realized how important the back-rest was for me. I now know I would not be able to use a unit without it. It was fairly easy to assemble…I only pinched my fingers once. I was impressed with the quality of the unit…it seems to be very well made. It is very quiet during use. The online ad information didn’t say anything about a pulse rate monitor…this unit does have one, built into the handles. The seat and backrest are both comfortable. I am about five-three and had no problem fitting this equipment. I have only used it for a few minutes at this point, but am comfortable knowing that with my physical limitations, I will be able to get some exercise with this unit. My wife who is an exercise nut, and has never been a fan of stationary bikes, also likes it. I get the impression this bike is going to get a lot of use. Broken within 6 months. I bought this bike last summer. After a few months the right petal started making a weird sound like there were rocks bands in the center of machine. After a few days of the noise it only got worse. I noticed little metal balls came out of the petal and the noise became unbearable like metal scratching on metal. I contacted the company who manufactured the bike and completed a form for replacement parts. After they confirmed receipt of the form they did not respond to any of my requests for an update and have not sent the replacement part. I loved this bike when I first got it in early March 2020. I used it daily and then I noticed the pedals became wobbly. I tried tightening them but it was nearly impossible. I managed to tighten the right pedal a bit more than the left pedal. And then it happened, the left pedal fell off in the middle of my workout. I have had this bike for about 8 months and I can no longer use it because the left pedal no longer stays on. I would love a replacement pedal, but no luck finding one. I ride daily, gradually building over time due to age and knees. It's a slow process under my circumstances but this Exerpeutic actually exceeds my expectations for performance. Everything works just like one might suspect it should. I like the under seat handlebars, the easy to adjust digital gauge, and solid seating feel. Assembly takes awhile and I had to tighten up the seat nuts and bolts tighter than I thought so it wouldn't rock a bit back and forth but did and it's just right. While I have not had this long, it is working for me and the price is good for the quality I have observed. I gave four stars because I've not had it too long, not because of what I've found with it. As a whole the bike is a great deal. Assembly was easy, all tools needed are included. The price, imo, is great. It's adjustable to accommodate various user heights/leg length. When collapsed it becomes very compact, taking up not much more room than a large vacuum cleaner. My only complaint, which I knew of before ordering and you'll see echoed through reviews for this bike on EVERY site you can find it for sale, is that the seat is flat out terrible. I spend all of every ride regularly adjusting my position trying to get comfortable or at least not be sore. Minimal support considering this is the version with increased weight limit, especially for your lower back. If you're someone who slouches when not thinking about it you could be in for some lower back pain. Aside from that the seat is just hard as a rock. In a review elsewhere someone said after 15-20 mins you'll be sore and want to get off, and only saving grace is that by 30 minutes you're entire posterior is completely numb and after using the bike numerous times now I can say that's spot on. I've been using an old flattened pillow on the seat to some success so far, but will be ordering a gel cover or bike seat adapter. Plan accordingly, you very likely will need to replace or upgrade the seat for regular use! The R5i bike itself performs well, but we a very disappointed in the fact that it will not properly interface with our blue tooth devices. This feature was one of deciding factors in purchasing the bike. We can not record and save our workout results without this. One call to support has pointed us to a Beta version of a new app, but it does not work thus far. We sincerely hope LifeSpan will come up with a fix.Michael W.
The actual bike is fantastic, if you can get it to work, and you are totally on your own if you need assistance. Ours (brand new purchase) worked for about 6 weeks and then started making a loud grinding noise when being peddled and now it's totally unusable. You can check the support section here and you'll see that there is only a chatbot available to contact if you have issues with your item. If you're lucky, you can find the phone number to support in the manual, but you just leave voicemail after voicemail and no one calls you back. If you do purchase, definitely make sure to get a good protection plan, because LifeSpan will not back up their manufacturers warranty and there is no way to hold them accountable. Even the chatbot says that they will get back to you between 7-10 days with next steps, but there is no way (aside from screenshots) to show that you've submitted a ticket (they do not send you a confirmation email), so you end up continuously submitting tickets to no one. 7-10 days of not being able to use a $1,600 piece of equipment and even then, no call back. Luckily I purchased a great protection plan, which is facilitating the repair/return here. Such a bummer. I love this bike, actually used to own a R3i years ago, but I have had the same issue with LifeSpan not backing up their equipment. I find it ironic that they're offering discounts on more orders when they can't return the call or follow-up on the tickets of their current customers.Heather F.

I can't believe what a great product this is, in every way so far! Here are some things I wanted to know, before I purchased it- Start with assembly: EVERYTHING neatly packaged (step by step packages) with easy to read diagrams and instructions. I had my son-in-law assemble it for me, in less than an hour-because I have physical limitations. He is a perfectionist and was impressed with this bike and the complete instructions and parts. Did I mention this comes with the tools needed for assembly???!!!!! It does! This is not a flimsy bike, it is very stable. It weighs only 50-some pounds, but it is a solid piece of exercise equipment. Assembled it is about the size of a skinny shopping cart, taking up much less space than I expected. I live on the second floor and it is VERY quiet to use. It has several monitoring features to track heart rate and more. It is comfortable to use, too. I have some weight issues right now and this is one of the lesser priced bikes that accommodate my height and weight range. (I am quite tall-it is adjustable for many heights). Assembly was relatively easy as long as you follow the instructions carefully. This bike does what it supposed to however not very comfortably. There is hardly any cushion in the seat and backrest. I understand this is not supposed to be a luxury recliner however it’s really hard to exercise when after five minutes of peddling your butt hurts. That’s saying a lot for someone like me who has a lot of extra padding to peddle off. Also the handlebars beside the seat that have the heart rate sensors is set to low, I have to actually stop peddling and Scooch down the seat just to reach for full contact. I read a ton of reviews before making my final decision. Honestly this semi recumbant exercise bike will be a good fit for some, but not all. It really depends on your fitness goals, expectations, and how fit you already are. I think it's a good buy for the price. It comes with some assembly required, but isn't difficult or too time consuming. I had some issues with the quality control. The resistance and monitor cables were in the way of being able to put the locking pin in the hole to fold the bike up. The resistance really only gets hard at 6,7,8. 1-5 are easy. That's enough resistance for me to break a sweat for now. I did address my concerns to customer service by sending an email. They took care it in a fair way as far as I'm concerned. The bike is lightweight, easy to move since it has wheels. I should also say it suits those who are height challenged. Not so much if you're taller than 5'10". Riding is very quiet!Debbie
Bearing in mind that I've only had the bike for a week, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. Extremely quiet, comfortable seat, quick & easy to relocate. I only have 2 small issues with the bike. The first is that the right pedal has a tendency to loosen up after a few rides, resulting in a little click sound, but this is easily remedied by retightening the pedal. The second is that the wheels on the base for relocating the bike could have been a little bigger. At present the bike rolls well on solid floors, but not so well on carpet. All in all a wonderful investment in the healthy future of myself & my family.David

Honestly, I have yet to fold and move it so I can't give a review on that but it holds my phone towards the top, not on the bottom like some models, and has wheels for when I do fold and move it, so I'm very happy with it. The seat moves up and down (adjusts to height) easily and it is silent when you use it. My only critique is the units printed under the digital screen are small so it's a little hard to see which goal I'm looking at each time the screen changes (minutes, pulse, etc.). I also wish it had a cup holder which was not on my original wish/shopping list when I was looking for these so I can't complain. Overall, five stars and yes, buy this.katebean

The recumbent bike is fantastic!. Assembly instructions were easy to follow. The bike came together without any problems. The bike has a terrific look and feel. Entering personal info for my wife and me (age, gender, weight and height) was easy. Following the embedded workout programs was also very uncomplicated. The seat is large and the foam padding is very comfortable even for hour-long workouts. I like the heart monitor built into to the sidebar grips makes tracking aerobic aspect of the workout simple. At 71 y/o and with arthritis in my knees bilaterally, I had to give up my 3-mile walks. This recumbent bike is very easy on my knees (not to mention my lower lumbar back). I like and use the builtin iPad/tablet stand for reading and watching videos while pumping away. Also, I like the sleek, narrow design – fits in against the wall minimizing its footprint in the room. I especially chose a recumbent bike because of the low impact to the knees versus an upright bike. I drive a lot and the recumbent bike has helped alleviate the lower back and hip pains. I was concerned about the quality and durability especially w/2 sons that workout all the time. It turned out to be a very heavy duty gym quality bike and reasonably priced. I looked around and recalled all the exercise bicycles I'd seen in people's homes not being used, and thought about getting one that would be comfortable to ride and not become tedious to use. After looking at Marcy's reputation for quality gym equipment, I chose the Marcy Pro MRSREB, and it arrived at our home within days of my ordering it. The instructions took a few minutes to figure out, but everything was complete in the box and it took roughly an hour to assemble. I took my time, set it up, and I have used it every day since then. What you see is what you get: an economically priced, simple, efficient piece of exercise equipment that can easily be used while catching up on TV shows, movies or while listening to music. This review will be broken down into two parts: Installation/Delivery & use of the product. Installation/Delivery: Firstly, I am so happy to currently be a member of the Total Tech Membership. As a result, I was able to get this bike for $500. That $500 included not only the bike, but also the delivery AND installation. I ordered the bike about a week ago and set up delivery/install for Friday 1.21.22. The two guys that came to complete the bike delivery and set up were AWESOME! I think we were their last delivery on Friday as they called and said they were driving back from Sheboygan then to Green Bay to pick up bike, then up to Door County. Even though I could tell they had a LONG day these two guys were EXCEPTIONAL. They came in brought the bike downstairs and happily went to work on putting it together. They got the whole thing together and rocking and rolling in about 40 minutes (totally worth me not doing it b/c I'm sure it would've taken me much longer). They gave me a tutorial on use and took everything away. Both of these guys deserve a TEN out of TEN for their efforts & hard work (even on a late Friday night). Thanks MUCH to them Use of Product: my wife did a ride yesterday on the bike and I used it this morning before work. The product is SUPER easy to use and it is VERY VERY QUIET (you can hardly hear it running). I love that they have user profiles that keep track of your workouts and overall distances that you bike (it allows 4 profiles). This bike has a great display for your workouts and it has plenty of choices for programs. It also has a fan and though I haven't used it yet it has a USB port and speakers for listening to what you'd like (I am an ear buds kind of guy). When using the bike it is VERY comfortable (I'm 5'10') and the seat moves with ease. This was the perfect last piece of exercise equipment we needed for our basement gym and it provides a good workout without major stress on the body. I would HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone who is on the fence about buying it. Schwinn has pulled a complete bait and switch on these units that to me borders on criminal. There USED to be (and is advertised) a free app that you could download to interact with these units as well as keep track of your workouts. However, that has gone the way of the dodo bird – extinct! The old app is still referenced in the owners/installation menu. The app has been removed from all app stores – no matter the device. What Schwinn has done is convert to a Peleton type structure where the app is now a subscription based service. Total money grab. If the app worked like Peleton, I could almost get behind it – not even close. There are only 3 or 4 free "rides" you can do with the new app but none are interactive to where the resistance varies based on the terrain. The app does make the video come to a halt if you stop pedaling – that's it. No matter what speed you pedal, the video just trundles along at the same speed. I did a quick review of the paid "rides" and they all said "video only" so even the paid app does NOT provide any interactive workout other than the view going by at a constant speed – unless you stop. No resistance changes, no speed changes, just a slow ride through the scenery. Also, the Bluetooth….would you expect that to link to your device and let you play music? NOPE!!! The only thing the Bluetooth will link to is the new app. I was told by Schwinn support that it would link to other apps but I tried 3 of what they recommended and no Bluetooth link unless on their app. Worthless. So, there is also a little fan on the console that has a vent similar to an A/C vent in a car. Great idea…..poor execution. The fan is mounted inside the plastic enclosure in such a way that when the air exits the front of the vent, it's blowing at a 45 degree angle and it shoots off to the left, doing a nice job of cooling your left forearm but not a whisp of air on your face. The seating position on this is also uncomfortable. The seat moves up and down at a steep angle – so much so that the instructions say to get out of the seat before adjusting. That is ridiculous. If they were being honest, they would say, "Our design is poor and you can't actually adjust the seat while seated". If you do decide to adjust the seat while actually seated (so you can tell where you need to set it – duh), you better have at least one foot FIRMLY on the pedal, ready to support most of your body weight. Otherwise, the seat will SLAM to the bottom and jam your back – yes, I did it! This is not like any recumbent bike Ive ever been on – the ergonomics just are NOT good. The angle is just not right. Excellent exercise bike at an excellent price. Free delivery was included and much appreciated that they moved the heavy box into the back room for me. Setup took about 90 minutes with assistance from a step-by-step YouTube video that made identifying parts and order a breeze (SEARCH: "Complete! Assemble Schwinn 270 Recumbent Exercise Bike") The bike is very comfortable and includes a console with lots of information and ability to setup custom programs. It's really not too bulky either and fits well along the wall of our room, so its pretty much out of the way. It has wheels in the front and a handle in the back to enable you to easily lift and move the bike. There is also a media shelf underneath the main display to hold your phone or tablet, and also a USB port to keep your device charged during your work out. The only negative thing you might have is that the Bluetooth capability is limited to using their app for downloading information about your session. You can't stream any music to its internal speakers at all. You will need to use the supplied 3.5mm input port and cable to attach to an MP3 player or phone that has a similar jack to play any music from the speakers. But you can just use your own phone or tablet along with wireless earbuds or headphones for better sound. The bike itself is very quiet when pedaling, which is nice. It has 25 levels of resistance which is plenty, and includes a heart rate monitor via the handles mounted on either side of the seat. A little nice addition is the cup holder/storage for your water bottle and/or remote control. Compare all this to the very similar (and more expensive) Nautilus R618 Recumbent bike that has almost identical features and made by the same company.BobG

It is hard to rate this purchase because I am both pleased and disappointed. I was excited when I saw the thak you card from the company president upon opening the box. What a nice extra touch! But sad when I found they couldn't even keep up the $10 per year domain name to let you know their app is defunct. And of course there is the realization that this company has a corner on this level of fitness equipment (owning Nautilus, Schwinn, Bowflex, and more) so why should they put forth the effort? Despite the extreme cost difference, I would have looked longer at Peloton if I'd known. But, moving past my dismay to what matters most, as a 63 year old female not in the best shape, I put the bike together myself quite effortlessly. That is not to say that it is not quite heavy at near 100 pounds, but the instructions were clear for the most part. One thing I would add is that, when installing the seat bottom, screw the two roads in at the front first, or it will be difficult (if not impossible) to line the screw holes up. In all cases, the best idea when installing multiple screws in a section is to apply all the screws loosely, then tighten all after everything is lined up for that section. As a final fuss, I wish the power cord was less flimsy/more substantial. Functionally, the bike is quiet, smooth and comfortable. The fan has little power, and this is a big deal because wouldn't it be wonderful to feel the wind in your hair as you ride, almost real IF THERE WERE AN APP to elicit the illusion. I use it in the winter to compliment my good weather riding on my outdoor recumbent. It is very smooth riding and has more than enough resistant levels. The one problem I have with it is the difficulty moving it from room to room (living room TV watching to storage in spare bedroom). I have a bad back and can't lift it onto it's casters, so I improved it by adding four casters (on the ends of the stabilizers). They are 2 in. rubber casters (two fixed and two locking-swivel). The bike is still very stable, even on hardwood floors. Even for people with good backs, it is much easier and safer to move around. It takes more room to store, but it's not a deal breaker for me.none

This was perfect timing for me to revived this bike because I am preparing for a fitness competition. I personally used it for 2 weeks until I bought a stair stepper. I love the ease of use and the iPad integration made it very engaging. Once I received my stair stepper, I move the bike into a fitness/physical studio to use with general fitness clients and physical therapy patients. Everyone loved the ease of use and the iPad interface. A knee replacement patience saw great results after just over 1 week. My general fitness clients love how easy it was to increase or decrease the resistance. I would highly recommend this Schwinn bike due to the ease of putting it together, ipad integration, ease of use and the multiple uses for it.
At last, cardio is accessible to start my day with! This bike + Coffee + NPR is the best morning ritual I've had for years. The bike's operation is smooth and enjoyable, and the resistance variety is good enough to challenge anyone. I start low, and work my way up the resistance as I warm up. It's sturdy and strong, and stays put when I'm pedaling, no matter how much coffee I've had. Wheels on the bike make it easy to move from room to room. My Wife and I could no longer use our treadmill due to hip problems, so we purchased the Xterra Recumbent Bike. So far it is working very well for us, its comfortable and easy to use. The instruction book is not easy to follow for the settings but so far, we have been able to figure it out. Assembly was not too hard just takes a little time to do. Only problem so far was the heart rate readout gave us a problem, not working all the time, called the company and they sent me some new parts after installing one at a time and still having problems, figured out your hands had to be a little moist while on the bar contacts to make it work properly, very dry hands and it won't work. After toiling over which bike to get, I am glad I made this choice. I am 268 pounds and so the weight limitation was a big factor in determining which bike I was going to buy. The packaging was secure, all the the parts were carefully wrapped. Assembly took me 1.5 hours and that was with having to redo one step (forgot to put the mast cover on). They had little touches that made it go quicker: a pull line for pulling the cable through, pre-installed bolts. With the pre-installed bolts, there is no chance of you choosing the wrong bolt/washer/nut combination from a stack of parts normally given to a consumer in an "assemble-yourself" product. The only thing I had a problem with was the one seat bolt on the front-left hand side, the release mechanism for the seat to slide sits almost directly underneath the mounting hole, so some extra effort (like maybe an extra 5 minutes) was required to get this particular one locked down. First use was everything I had hoped it to be. Extremely easy to read display, plenty of information, accurate heart rate monitor, and a wide variety of workouts to choose from. Moving it is easy with the wheels on the front stabilizer. And again, for a guy my size, there was no embarassing side to side movement that you might get with a smaller less stable unit. When I received my shipment I was less than thrilled. The packaging was insufficient for the weight and bulk of a Recumbent exercise bike. Much of the cardboard was torn, and upon opening, I found one of the data cables had been cut when the box had been dropped at some time. As an electrician, I was able to splice the cable. I informed Academy and the manufacturer of the damage. Exterra shipped a new cable and Academy gave me a discount on a future purchase. The tension for the pedaling does not work properly , setting 1 thru 5 is on ONE speed of the lowest resistance and 6 thru 8 gives some resistance but not enough Customer service is non-existent, NO ONE ANSWERS the phone. I called a dozen times, left messages and nothing, zilch, nada, ,crickets. Like many other customers reviewing this item, several of the bolts I received to hold the bottom supports were bend. Purchased this exercise bike after being placed on oxygen and needing to rebuild lost muscle. Son had no problem putting it together, took about an hour. It's easy to use, quiet and I can enjoy watching TV as I exercise both arms and legs at the same time. I only wish I could add more tension to the legs. Overall really satisfied with the purchase it's been about three weeks now and I still love it. I'm 5'8" female and there's plenty of room to exercise legs and arms together without bumping into each other. My 6 year old grandson even tries to use it, of course he's supervised and he thinks his muscles are growing… Looks like it's going to be a family exercise bike. It's just what I thought I was getting, stability and dependability. Adjustable too.Willie
Easy to assemble, got freaked out a bit when I couldn't find the part that holds the seat to the frame (found it nestled inside the seat tube). Mine as damaged. For shipping, they have cardboard tubes attached to the frame where the legs attached… The screws hold the cardboard tubes on and are easily damaged. Three of the four bolts were stripped and bent. Rather than go through the hassle of trying to fit this back in the box for a return (and subsequently waiting on a replacement that might also have the same damage), I used some carriage bolts with locknuts that fit through the frame. Beyond all that, it is a very nice bike, similar to the ones I had to use in Physical Therapy (but much cheaper) for shoulder and spinal surgeries. Just purchased this bike yesterday in part because with Covid supplies of everything are in short supply! Not sure what happened with the other onereview on this bike but ours runs very smoothly and very quietly, no squeaks of any kind. It appears the those with longer legs or very tall, may find this bike not long enough to peddle.The seat is firm, hoping with use it might soften up some. The seat back is 2.4 “ thick and from back of seat to peddle at highest point is 40”, lowest point 42”. So you can check if the bike is long enough for your legs. 2 bolts underneath the frame have to be removed to adjust the seat, unfortunately. This is a simple exerciser, has scan, timer, distance, and calorie counter speed. Will hold phone or small tablet, comes with water bottle holder and tension adjusts with a dial. Includes peddle straps. Simple but can get the job done. Very low in center to step over.Red Poppy
I'm 75 and purchased the Weslo Pursuit Recumbent Exercise Bike and put it together myself with only a bit of help from my grandson. However, I couldn't get the cup holder screws to tighten because the holes in the front post were too small as were the holes for the console digital tracker, so left holder off and console is wobbly but neither affect the exercise capability and I will go to hardware or Wal-Mart store and get smaller screws that fit holes. Also lost 2 larger bolts into the inside where flywheel is located and could not get them out by turning bike upside down. So going to have to go to Wal-Mart store and see if I can find compatible ones. Overall it was simple to put together and l liked that all screws and bolts as well as Allen wrenches were on separate piece of cardboard and were well marked and instruction manual was in English and easy to read. Bike rides really smooth and console is easy to set, even though undoing seat for adjustment is a pain but hoping only have to do that once. Pedaling is easy and resistance knob helps as does console that can be set for distance, timer, calories, etc. Takes up little space so that's a plus. Got it on sale at Walmart so was worth the price and delivery was fast. Would be nice if it had a place to set book or Tablet to read while pedaling as description said it had but I guess you can't have everything.Bonnie
I bought this bike today. Assembly was challenging because holes were not drilled right and had to be re-drilled to align parts. Once fully assembled the screen did not work at all. I was on hold with customer support for over 1 1/2 hours listening to the same repeating, annoying music on hold. There are 2 web addresses supplied with the unit for support but neither works. Now that it is fully assembled I regret buying it. It is flimsy and not worth the money.Desert Dave
