I love this heater! It works great, and the vintage look was exactly what I wanted. It heats up my room very quickly – definitely does the job. It's not a heater with all the bells and whistles (two speeds, manually operated), but that's exactly what I was looking for. Just a simple, well made, and good looking heater that works. I received this as a birthday gift so it's not a verified purchase, but I know the purchaser ordered it directly from Vornado. There really is no competition to this heater that I know of available today. Even most of the all-metal heaters you find are lightweight and have cheap-feeling controls. Not this one. It's solid and the controls feel heavy duty. The low (750 watt) setting is nearly silent and it's perfect for directing a stream of heat toward one person or two people sitting close to each other, or when you only need you warm the room up a little. The high (1500 watt) setting uses a higher fan speed so it sends heated air all around the room for fast heating. The orange power indicator light on the base is useful because it reminds you that the heater is turned on, which would be easy to forget if it's on the low speed or if the thermostat had shut it off because the room reached the required temperature. This isn't the cheapest heater you'll find but you get what you pay for. This one feels like it'll last for many years.Ken14

I bought this for my garage based on the reviews and I'm really disappointed. I'm not sure if the unit is defective but it only blows warm air that I have to be standing right in front of it to feel. It doesn't matter what setting I have it on they all feel the same. It makes a clinking noise when I shut if off that sounds like something is hitting the fan which has me thinking it's defective. I bought it 2 years ago and it sat on a shelf in my garage until I had it installed a few weeks ago so I'm not optimistic that it would be covered by warranty. Sadly this heater does nothing for my garage. I am taking into consideration that my 2 car garage is detached and could be better insulated as it's a pole barn however I wouldn't think I would need to stand directly in front of this unit to feel any warmth from it. I've left it run 6-8 hours and see little to no difference in the temperature on cold days. I'd like to contact the manufacturer as I have questions however I am unable to find a good number for them.Blacklabdad

We bought an adjacent peice of property that had a 40' tractor trailer box on it that the old man used as a workshop. We cleaned it up and we're using it for woodworking. I needed a heater in there to allow me to work on cold days. I saw this 240v heater in a Rural King ad and the price was right, so I went and bought one. It draws just over 20 amps @ it's 5000btu max setting, so I started with a 25amp double pole breaker and ran 10AWG copper conductors through 3/4" steel conduit. I chose to suspend it using 3/8" all-thread from a bracket that I fashioned out of aluminium bar. This setup worked out great giving me the ability to adjust the height. The heater wired up easily and works just fine. I would say that it heats my shop enough to make working in it on cold days manageable. The trailer is a typical 40' uninsulated box @ 2500 cubic feet.DSCRenovations

Easy to hook up (had electrician run a 220 circuit first), easy to use, seems like a good value for the price. It puts out a good amount of heat, but you need to make sure you have good insulation and no air leaks, otherwise it struggles to keep up. Its essentially a larger more powerful space heater. Once I got the insulation up and the air leaks sealed it works like a charm, but prior it struggled to keep up with a 19×24 foot garage. Now it cycles on every 30min for about 15min, even during a week of negative Chicago temps, and then shuts off. Before it would run almost non stop. Electric bill increased about $50 keeping the garage at 55deg. for a month (knob at halfway). Happy with the purchase, but if you need more heat I would recommend a gas heater.Emmanuel

Before I bought this 2-power-level heater I bought I a 3-power-level one thinking the "Low" setting in the 3-level one would be very quiet. A heater being quiet is important to me since I use it in my home office during many hours of day in which I'm on the phone. However, the 3-level one's "Low" mode was too noisy for me. I returned it and bought this one. This one's "Low" mode is much quieter than the other one and it heats the room even better than the other one (low mode to low mode). In the "High" mode, it's louder but not disturbingly so for me. The other thing I like about this one is that there is a recessed slot in the back for carrying the heater – it just basically works great. The other heater didn't provide for a hand-hold for the thing; you would have to use two hands or cradle it to your body to carry it. (Note though, this heater does not have a self-timer for turning itself off. That would be nice to have, but I can happily use it as-is.)AlanFromIrvine

This is our 3rd Vornado heater. We love the way they heat all of the air in a room, not just the air in front of you. Makes the whole room more comfortable. They are very safe to use, if bumped or knocked over, it shuts off completely. It also does not get hot to the touch so it is safe around children and pets. We have used them in rooms of our house that are perpetually cold, and it makes them comfortable to be in. With the high cost of heating oil, we will be using them in the rooms we use most this winter to keep them comfortable while turning back the heat in the rest of the house. We also use one in our RV for spring and fall camping, saves on propane. Would definitely recommend.bevk519

The good news is it's lightweight, quiet and stays cool so it's safe for pets. The bad news is it doesn't maintain the set temp on the low setting. I set the temp to 72 on high; once the room was at that temp, I turned it to low and the room temp immediately began to drop. I kept it on low all night and it was only able to get up to 70 on that setting. So, to maintain the set temp you have to have it on high the whole time, which is louder and defeats the purpose of multiple settings. Also, the indicator light is ridiculously big and bright. It's so bright at night that it disrupted my sleep.Alison

This is a great little heater. I've have it running in my garage here in Minnesota all week, to be fair it did take a little while for it to bring the temp up in my garage but once it did it has maintained it no problem, Its actually a little under powered for the size of my garage but it has been holding its own in temps ranging from mid 20's to high 30's and I have been able to spend time out here in a light flannel or even a tshirt on some days… Will it work in Sub Zero Minnesota temps? I don't know but its definitely doing its job in late fall/early winter temps. I do have the Newair 2 in 1 240v Garage heater as well and I need to run an outlet in my garage/man cave for that, I know that one will keep me nice and comfortable throughout the super cold months for sure…at least it should. I recommend this heater especially if you have a smaller garage or work shop that you need to heat, its light weight and portable, fairly quiet,and it has a thermostat so its not running wide open constantly which helps on the power bill.Touring Midwest (Drew)

Just installed in my home shop. Easy to follow directions, nice appearance, seems to be mechanically sound, decent heat and fan flow. However the internal thermostat shuts the unit down long before the surrounding area is warmed. Should be an external temperature sensor option or maybe consider the temperature sensor be located in the remote and sends a signal back to the unit. That way the area you ae working in would be the control. I realize this would add cost but I would spend the extra cash for better control. The air conditioning unit I have for my shop uses that technology and it is great.VFR_CAL

This was one of the cheapest 10k heaters among the stores. Not sure why the others were way more money but I have zero issues with this one to date . I read lots reviews on this one about the temp adjustment limitations but mine will go down to like 48 degrees and I have had it up to 70. I notice it shuts off sooner than I would like but thats do to the thermostat being up high behind the unit so it needs to be set at a higher temp to get the garage up to temp faster. I removed the thermostat and re mounted lower on the side of the unit. I love the timer function as I will run it once get home for like 4 hours to get snow off cars. My garage is insulated so it doesn't require allot. Only noise is really the starter contactor pulling in.Street12

I needed to angle it but didn't want to use the risky one screw option listed in the instructions, so I mounted it to a piece of wood, and then to the ceiling joists. I also moved the blue wire (one less coil) requiring a 25amp vice 30amp 240v breaker because I didn't think it needed to run at full capacity based on my square footage, and installing 8 gauge wire in flexible conduit is much harder than 10 gauge. It's working perfectly just above the low setting mark keeping the garage at 62 degrees. I am sure I can push the temp way up, but that isn't necessary. It doesn't come on very often, so I am confident it won't affect the electric bill much. It's very quiet. I was impressed with how fast the unit arrived using Blain's standard mail. They shipped the same day I ordered. Plus, their price was cheaper than all others on the internet. No more cold air seeping into the house and my cars are warm when I get in!TonyE

The shop is divided in to two work areas, The larger 30' x 26' bay is heated with circulated hot water through the floor. The floor is heated to 55 or 60 degrees as to not tax the hot water heater and pump. The shop temp can drop to mid 40's when the outside temp drops into the low 20's. This heater was rated for use for only 500 sq ft, but like I stated it's for supplemental heat. With the heater set two clicks from off, it cycles on and off every 45 minutes to an hour, and doesn't run very long, but keeps the shop in the low 60's when outside temp is low 20's. I purchased this as an open box special to try one ou.t. I may buy the larger unit for use in the unheated bay.slowcoupe

This heater is great! We have a 2-story home with a finished basement and central cooling/heating. Our insulation isn't great and some of our pipes run along an outside wall. Every winter we have issues with our water lines freezing, because regardless of the time of year or what temp we set our thermostat, our basement is always very cold. We mounted this heater on the wall in our basement and we haven't had any issues since. It works great and is easy to use! We can't speak to the longevity of the product since we haven't had it very long, but we don't anticipate any issues. Definitely a great purchase for us, and we'd highly recommend! #sweepstakesSara

Some much quieter & smaller than my 10 year old infrared heater. Both 1500W. Too new to give it 5 s but if it lasts 10 years it will be worth every penny! I purchased a 1000W Heat Storm infrared heater, a couple years ago, for 12×12 enclosure and it heats the area easily during January & February making the space useable year round. I really like the auto mode vs manual select high or low setting. Has the option to wall mount but since it is portable and I am only using it seasonally I wont be using that feature. The Comfort Zone CZ550 1500w Electric Radiant Space Heater with Adjustable Thermostat, is a great little compact heater that we are using in the colder months out in the garage and also in the newly added family room. I love it's portability. It really knows how to crank out the heat quickly and quietly. Additionally, we love all the features this one comes with. I start it out on high to get the chill out of the air, then once it starts getting toasty, I turn it to low. I especially like the safety overheat protection feature in case I go inside and forget to turn it off. On especially cold mornings I also use it in our Family room that isn't part of our central heating system. Its my favorite room in the house, but in the Winter months, I used to freeze. Not anymore! I bought this two years ago, it worked ok it really just took the chill out of the air. Now that it’s another winter my second winter with these bad boys, I feel like they suck! I did buy two at the time, they’re dangerous around kids although my kids knew not to touch it the heat on the item made it really hot. My second thing is this year they no longer work. One of them the button for “on/off” got locked in the on position, I have tried to fix it… the second just won’t stay on unless I bang on the floor.. almost like there’s a short on the inside somewhere so I had to write a review so others could know. The VMH600 Whole Room Stainless Steel Heater with Auto Climate came just in time as it has gotten cold in central Texas. I spend most of the day working in the kitchen/dining room area. There is a wall of 5 large windows that span the area. Suffice it to say this are gets very cold. I’m using the VMH600 Whole Room Stainless Steel Heater with Auto Climate to warm up this area. The heater is a modern stainless steel material. This heater has a remote control and a discreet cord storage. Some of the safety features include: automatic safety shut off and tip over protection. Furthermore, this heater comes with 2 heat settings, fan only option, and a 12 hour timer. The cool thing about this heater is the handle. It serves dual purposes. It acts as a handle but also a display panel where you can change the settings manually. I did find some disadvantages though. This heater is described as a “whole room” heater. Well on its highest setting I have to stand right in front of the heater to feel the heat. This heater displays the temperature of the room. Well, that temperature display is not that accurate. I have a stand alone temperature gauge that I’ve used to years and the two temperatures differ. I like the convenience that the remote control provides; however, the remote control is not reliable. I’ve only used this product and its remote control for one week and the remote does not work properly. I’ve even gotten close to the heater and sometimes the remote works and most of the time it doesn’t. We have loved this heater so far. We've been using this for a couple of weeks now, and it has been great. We use it in our teenage sons bedroom, as the heat doesnt always keep his room as warm as the rest of the house. And this heater, small as it is, heats up his whole room and with its smart features, it keeps it warm through the night. We love that it has the cool touch component on the outside, and auto shutoff if tipped over. Another thing that has been great for us is the timer you can set on it. We set it to run from 9 at night, to 8 AM. And that way we don't have to worry about remembering to turn it on or off at all. It turns itself off and on. We do check it a few times a day, just to be sure, and so far so good. Its off when it should be, and on when it should be. The remote comes in handy as well. This heater is an odd duck. It's a combination of futuristic and retro, experience and first-gen. It's a 1500W heater, it provides 1500W of heat. You can't do more on a standard outlet. If your cord starts melting at the outlet, have the cord replaced (under warranty) and also have an electrician REPLACE YOUR OUTLET. They don't all handle 1500 W gracefully. The heating element is old school wire, so it has the traditional heater smell if it hasn't been on in a while. The airflow does keep the outside remarkably cool. The fan is meager and quiet. The thermostat is a fuzzy logic thermostat that moderates the heating power to maintain temperature rather than cycling between on and off, which makes this one of the most pleasant room heaters to sit near. Lower power settings tend to have a bit more of a metallic buzz, still rather quiet, kinda 1960's. Primary buttons are illuminated capacitance solid state buttons embedded in the handle, and two additional physical buttons stick out on top as if Vornado ran out of room on the handle and still wanted to add a timer and dark mode. The thermostat suffers a little from self-influence, so if you want a 72F room, you may need to set the heat for 75F. A stronger fan may have helped with this. The design elements seem pretty safe and industrial, so I think it will live well past its 5 year warranty.ED

This is my second one for my house as they really do kick out nice heat. The only reason it did not get 5 stars is they do consume a bit of electricity. Other than that, very nice easy to use small room heater. I bought this unit because my son has a Vornado, not this one, but a similar looking model that has a dial at the top where you adjust the temperature. There is no digital read out on his, so finding the right comfort setting requires some guesswork before the unit automatically cycles on and off. The AVH2 Advanced has a digital read out but the thermostat is whacky, For instance if I set the temperature to, say, 72, the unit will run until the room gets unbearably warm. I called the Vornado help number and was told that this is normal, that the unit will run 3-4 degrees higher than the set temperature before shutting off. This is nuts! If I set the temp at 72 and the digital read out says that the room temp is 72 or 73 some time later, the unit should shut off!! Seems reasonably, right? — Now that I figured this out and got it confirmed by Vornado, if I want the room temp to be 72 I'll set the desired temp on the heater to 68 knowing that it will cycle on and off when the room temp on the heater says it's 71 or 72. Just dumb. Absolutely crazy. 🙁 Also, as others have mentioned, the display is not backlit. I keep a small flashlight near by so I can see what I'm doing.WayneD

Currently use 5 of these units for supplemental zonal heating. They even keep the rooms warm when the central heating is turned off. Heats a larger room better than the VMH500. Assuming this is due to better room air circulation since the fan on this unit is slightly tilted upwards. Have to knock off one star due to occasionally having to reset a unit. With rare occasion the fan will run continuously and the heating elements will not come on. After unplugging the unit for a couple minutes they have resumed operating normally once plugged back in. I bought this heater to replace an older one that actually caught on fire. Since I had just redone the wall, I needed a heater that fit the hole. This one did after some modifications to the frame of the old one. The heater works. It fits. It goes with the white walls of the room. I am happy. By the way I needed a 240 volt system.2oldyoung

Initial setup with Google Assistant was quick and painless. The smartphone app allows the user to easily dial in a specific temperature. I wouldn't suggest this unit to people who are searching for a heater that will fill a large room. We have this in a small dining room and it can only manage to warm half of it. I think its pretty good. I use it with my new echo 4th gen and it works really well. Has safety features like a tip over sensor and over heat sensor. I can change or maintain any temperature I choose (above house temperature but below 89 degrees) just by speaking. Very useful when I am busy doing something or if I just feel lazy and don't want to get up. I also have it connected to the Alexa app so when it detects that I am coming home, the heater will turn on. Really useful during the winter. Overall, I would recommend this product to any person that wants a heater. And I got the heater for $120 there might be a price change from the time I got it but hopefully not.Isaac

Solid packaging, everything arrived in one piece. Sharp looking, although the unit is a bit light and, of course, all hard plastic. Would have preferred a heavier base, but the wind won't blow it over. Don't look for hardcopy directions in the box, included in the app. Smart setup typical, the usual – find the wireless, but no real issues. Google integration seamless. Took me a minute to figure out the Oscillation command. I'll save you the trouble. Use exact, "Hey Google, Heater ossiculate on/off". So you can see I love it as a Smart device and all its tricks, scheduling and the design. Now as a heater? not so much, 3 stars at best. It's very quiet, but the fan doesn't blow all that hard either, but the heat is good and hot. And the 750 sq ft. coverage they claim, haven't tested, but my 300 sq ft room, would seem to be the max. And my California cool, take the edge off, is not Midwest cold. I can feel the heat blowing about 3-4 ft away, that's it. So if you're looking for a 10 degree bump, this is a good one. First bought this heater because it is the Lasko brand, looked at comparable heaters, but Lasko wins. I have 3 heaters by this brand, and they are about 6 years old, and still work amazing. Bought 2 of these for 2 bedrooms, they heat amazing, and turn on and off when needed. For their size, the heat up a 12 x 12 room, with the door open great. would highly recommend these for any room, would highly recommend the Lasko brand when purchasing space heaters.satisfied

This is a good heater. We have purchased it for our bathroom and it does a good job in heating it quickly. We know it states it is not intended for a bathroom, but those that are rated for a bathroom just have a GFI on the end of the power cord. We already have a GFI outlet that I use offering the same protection. The timer is a nice feature and easy to set from 1 hour to 7 hours or anywhere in-between in increments of one hour. The oscillation works as expected. The power level is either 900 watts or 1500 watts. All of those options are easy to set. The thermostat is an area we would like to see improved so that it works at the 900 watt setting. Our bathroom is small and really does not need that much heat. The thermostat only works on the high heat, 1500 watt setting. The manual states this if for "increased efficiency" which I do not understand. 900 watts is 900 watts and 1500 is 1500 watts. Have a thermostat turn it on or off does not make it any more efficient. If you get more BTUs per watt, that would be more efficient in my eyes. Plus, when I tried it on the thermostat, there appears to be a cool down period after you reach the desired temperature which I think is a good for the unit.TC

The thermostat function is terrible. It heats way too hot and takes way too long to turn back on… so most of the time you are uncomfortably hot or uncomfortably cold. When oscillating it seems to be quiet sometimes and noisy other times. I called Comfort Zone customer service to get input and determine if I had a defective unit or this is how they all function, to no avail. They just told me to return it for credit or replacement. It’s a shame. I have a small clip-on Comfort Zone fan that I’ve used for years to keep the moisture in my bathroom down, avoiding any and all mold. Consumer Reports needs to reevaluate this product. We bought our heater at the beginning of 2021 and at the beginning of 2022 is still working like a new product. It warms up quickly and is able to take the chill off an 11 x 22 room in a matter of 10-15 minutes. I use it for my massage business when customers require a little more heat while on the table. This past Thanksgiving, we placed it in our sunroom which was 36 degrees when we started. An hour later, now in the evening, the room was a comfortable 65 degrees with the temperature set at max (95 degrees). This heater works very well. It is easy to move around, and has an automatic shutoff switch if the unit is lifted. It comes with a remote control that is very convenient. You must point it correctly at the front of the unit for it to function. It has many different heating functions that include an oscillating mode. It has a somewhat steep learning curve due to its many settings and functions, but once past that, will serve you well. It should save you money on your heating bill since it allows you to lower your whole-house heating system while keeping your immediate area comfortable.Barnbaby

I bought 2 of these to take the chill out of a couple rooms these fan/heater combo are very pleasant to look at the sleek and tall design. Very easy to assemble only took a few short minutes. I was a little disappointed at first operation of the units but I fully understand why it's designed this way cold air is heavier than warm air so the heat shoots across the floor and then the heat rises if you are running the unit in the heater and fan mode the air will be cool from the fan at first but after the room warms up the warm air circulates through the fan making it super cozy. it does put off a "hot plastic smell" but as with all new things I am hoping this will wear off after long use. It's super a quiet machine and does a good job! It took out the chill in a 15×25 foot room in about 2 hours the fan air was circulating the warm air around the room. The remote is nice as far as display but you literally have to be facing the unit and up close for it to respond but that's not a deal breaker for me. The display is large enough to see from a distance and is great for middle aged to the elderly to see. I'm happy with my purchase and glad I have them for our harsh winters. Trying out the fan by itself was nice seemed to move a lot of air as well. That will be a nice feature to use in the summer in our huge kitchen. you can never have enough fans in the hot summers in conjunction with the AC! I feel the price was fair for the bells and whistles this unit comes with. Fan, heater, eco mode, large digital display and built in thermometer (which is highly accurate) plus a timer with remote control what more do you need. 1500 watts on high will not be that bad on the wallet this winter either! and it's all packed in the sleek design that doesn't take up much space. I would recommend this product if you are looking for a heater/fan to help take the chill out of a room. But I wouldn't buy it as a primary heat source unless you live in a tiny house. But for our needs this will do the trick.Meatmangary

My bedroom is a converted attic without ac and a faulty heater. This tower has been dead useful for regulating temp during these weird spring nights when sometimes it's chilly (heater) and sometimes it's really hot (fan). Don't think I could sleep without it. It has lots of great features (remote control, oscillating heat/fan, timer, regulated temperature) that make this a great value for your money. It also is probably the most stylish tower I've seen. I've had the fan for 3 days at the time of this review. I purchased it because my 2nd floor apartment does not heat or cool efficiently in the Kansas summers and winters. So far, I like it. It's quiet. Doesn't take up much space. Matches with my decor. And keeps my small living and dining space cool. I haven't used the heating element yet so no reviews on that quite yet. As mentioned in another review, the digital display face of the fan lights up the room at night so, that's one thing to consider but that's an easy fix, I suppose.Brandi

I received one of these 7500/5000 watt units for my birthday and as a house warming present.
I have returned this unit twice now and now have a store credit since this was a gift and the "card holder" isn't present to refund it to the card.
I am trying to replace it now with a whole other unit. Unfortunately they are all sold out.
Honestly this product should not be sold period. All installation was don't professionally for both electrical and the mounting.
Both units worked great for the first week and then after that the loud initiation of the thermostat started with it becoming increasingly more noisy with every cycle.
I'm only heating a 4-500sqft garage with the units running on the 7500w setting. This was suggested by 3 electricians for best performance and less strain on the unit.
Both of the units from what I can tellm and from what my electrical friends said…the fan failed both times. It's cheaply put together vs the rest of the unit and from what you can see for such a unit to be considered "commercial"..the transistor/ d cap they called it is tiny for 240v. This is the little box they said that regulates the fan power input etc.
However even with that they all said it was clear from the sound and from visually seeing the fan wobbling that it was constructed poorly.
If you can swing the extra few bucks….avoid dyna glo or at least this product!J E

Bought this week , installed today correctly: Dedicated 240 circuit, 8/2 wiring,40 ampm breaker, using Dyna Glo ext thermostat w correct 14 ga wire. 1. Back switch is on "Ext Thermostat", Front Thermostat off, Power Light brightly lit, turn ext. thermostat to 60 Degrees, Fan kicks in, NO HEAT AT ALL and Power Light goes out ? Waited 20 mins for some kind of heat. None. 2. Turned off ext thermostat, switched to internal thermostat, turned internal thermostat up, slight click as if engaging..no fan, no heat, no power light…nothing 3. Call Customer service ….45 minute wait being told I'm "Number 1" in line, couldn't wait any longer Not a good start to this overpriced product !Joe S

I purchased the heater January 17, 2021. It worked great the first winter in my unattached garage. During the second winter, it didn't appear to be keeping up with the temperature. I contacted customer support, and had a new thermostat (het cutoff) within a few days. Unfortunately, that didn't fix the issue. Contacted customer support with an update. Within a few days, I received a new heater element ("Heater" in parts list). This fixed the issue, and the heater works great again!! Contrary to some reviews I've read, Customer Support is great to work with, and quick to respond. At the time of contacting Support, we believed the heater was just a few months out of warranty. However, they treated it as a Warranty issue, and covered the expenses!TimR
