I've tried multiple upper engine cleaner / lubricants over the years at the behest of three of my friends who are certified master mechanics with over 100 years of combined experience. All three STRONGLY RECOMMENDED I use Techron every 3000ish miles and were adamant that as my vehicles hit ten years old and would be pushing 150,000 miles that the payoff would be more than worth it. Every 12,000 miles I run the fuel injector cleaner and when my vehicles hits 90,000 miles I will switch to the high mileage formula (which includes extra conditioners for the seals). Cars are like friends – if you take care of them over time, they will take (good) care of you. My mechanic buddies (how all do the same) swore that doing this, combined with "reasonable driving habits", will allow me to stick with a couple simple tune-ups until at least 250,000 to 300,000. miles. Presupposing this works as planned my injectors, valves, rocker arms and pistons and rings will NOT need to be be serviced until the vehicle is well over 300,000 miles. Since I only buy when it's on sale doing this maximizes the performance and will save both $ and time later on … I'm all in on that! I use it in a newer engine (2018 Lexus, 4-cyl), as well as an older 2008 5.7L HEMI V8 and it works great in both. The fuel injectors are pretty much unobtainium on my 1998 Milano, so when the car lost power and became rougher all through the powerband, I tried a can of this in the gas tank. Almost immediately the engine ran smooth again! I know I got lucky to some extent, but wow; pleasantly surprised! I run it regularly in my 2004 A8L and she still runs perfectly after 100K miles.

Cleans very well. Read some of the complaints and don’t know their particular vehicle but you cannot run certain types of injector or any in some turbo charged vehicles it can screw it up and cause a high dollar repair. You need to know before running any kind of additive to your fuel cant blame their product on someone’s ignorance or it’s possible you’ve broke away sediment or varnish that’s clogged the injectors because of bad fuel filter or never used anything to maintain tank cause with ethanol thats in most gas can cause water build up in gas tank which is heavier settling on the bottom of your metal gas tank. Many people never maintain their vehicle correctly and then use an Additive to try to correct never done maintenance and what happens everything turns loose and now you have a Mess. I own a 2019 Indian Chief Darkhorse motorcycle with 23,000 miles. I have been predominantly buying high test fuel at work. Suzuki Burgman 650 (2007) was misfiring at idle. Put in about 1/3 of a bottle of Chevron Techron concentrate fuel system cleaner and at 40 miles it started to run better. I like that it comes in a metal can. Plastic can sometimes expand under a little heat and cause the fluid to spill out. What makes this product good to me is it comes with a easy pour attachment and you can tell it's working through the cars response plus the miles you gain. I bought an Acrua RDX 2016 Advance with 150K miles. Note the vehicle has been maintained from day zero in Acura Dealership. The engine felt a bit jerky, and as I haa a bottle of Chevron Techron I poured it when filled the gas first time. I also changed the air filter and cleaned the air intake sensor. The engine sounded and responded a bit bette, but what I expected, as I owned Acuras prior to this one. Anyway, today I went to Exxon gas station and poured one bottle of purple in it, and then refuled the tank with the supreme gas. Wow! The engine almost immediately "changed the sound" and it is so responsive now. I never bought this stuff, assuming it wasn’t effective. After reading some compelling data online I decided to give it a try. After 500 miles of use I’ve picked up one more mpg, which is enough to pay for itself if you’re buying in bulk. I used to hear my lifters at cold start, but since using this product my lifters are silent so it must be working as advertised to lubricants the top end. But the gallon size to make it cost effective, but you will need this bottle to measure out a tanks worth and to pour it easily into the tank at fill up.D Smith
I had very high hopes for this with all the positive comments and reviews. This wasn't the case for me. The claims are that this adds lubricity and cleans the intake system. Well if that were true, then fuel mileage should improve. Well, I use this on 2 tanks of fuel and noted absolutely no change. That's over 600 miles of real world easy to prove driving.Peter

This is the best fuel system cleaner I have ever used, Idle is much smoother and response is quicker. My old truck starts easier. Don't know about mpg increase but I would assume that improvements already noted would indicate same for that. I would fully recommend that you try it and see for yourself!!

I had been having a pending/intermittent catalyst efficiency fault (P0420) it would almost instantly at the very least throw at least a pending code if not just the engine light every time I cleared it. After adding this my second start my CEL disappeared. So after disappearing I hooked up my scanner and I only had a stored code from before, deleted it and it hasn’t come back. I’m now only halfway through the tank but in my time owning the car I’ve never gone this long without a CEL and never without a pending code which I can happily say it currently does not have. BEWARE! This is a product to help clean and restore performance to a dirty or inefficient cat. If your are experiencing multiple codes, rough running engine, smells and or exhaust noise this is very unlikely to fix your problem. But if you’re like me and throwing intermittent codes/pending (P0420/P0430) codes this may just be the trick.Reindeer

I added a can of cataclean with a quarter tank of gas. I drove 50 miles and the CEL was still lit up. I cleared the codes and the 171 count kept coming back. However the 420 code did not come back. I have now driven my car an additional 175 miles and the 420 code still has not come back. I needed to replace the fuel injectors because of the 171 code but my car has now passed the SMOG test. My Daughter's car kept throwing a P0420 code every few days. I'd clear the code & it would just come back. After some on-line research, I decided to take a chance on this product before dropping hundreds on a new cat. I don't know if it's coincidence, BUT, the code hasn't come back in weeks, & she swears she even feels a difference in throttle response. My 2011 buick lacross has had a p0420 cat code come on and off for years. My inspection was up end of the month but this time every time I cleared the code it would come back on after 30 or 50 miles. I couldn't get it inspected. Thanks to the fascists that run new york state you can't replace your converter with a universal. My car has two converters I was looking at a $3500 repair using buick oem converters. The instructions on the bottle said use one bottle for a quarter tank of gas. 2002 Camry, 4 cyl. 185,000 miles. Code P0420. Added one bottle to 1/4 tank. Ran until almost empty. My wife then read the directions. I used this product hoping to eliminate the check engine light in 2009 Hyundai Tucson 2L engine. Upstream O2 senser was causing the light to come.
