Whether you’re a casual cyclist or a hardcore road racer, having the right gear on your bike can make all the difference when it comes to performance and enjoyment. As you shop for new components, here are some key factors to keep in mind.
First, consider the terrain you’ll be riding. Do you need a wider range of gears for steep hills or tight cornering? Will you ride mostly in dry conditions or need sturdier parts that can withstand mud and rain? Your local terrain and riding style should guide your gearing decisions.
Next, think about your cycling goals. Are you training for a century ride or just cruising around town? Racers and endurance riders need efficient, low-weight components while casual riders may prioritize comfort and reliability. Match the gear ratios, crankset, shifters and derailleurs to your unique needs.
Finally, find the balance between performance and budget. High-end carbon fiber cassettes and aluminum cranksets shave weight but come at a premium cost. There are quality options at lower price points too. Do your research to get the best value at your chosen spend level.
With the right road bike gearing set-up, you’ll be prepared to take on any ride. So consider where and how you ride, then find the optimal blend of performance, durability and value for your needs. Happy cycling!

1. Sram Force Etap Axs 2x Electronic Hrd Groupset
Product Details:
With this sram force etap axs disc 12 speed upgrade kit, you're all set for the future. this groupset is a 12 speed, wireless groupset! the sram force axs has many of the same features as the sram red axs, but has a much friendlier price point. this groupset is therefore ideal for the avid cyclist who wants to get the most out of his or her performance! when developing this groupset, sram's goal was to offer you maximum versatility. as a result this groupset can be setup as a 1×12 or 2×12 drivetrain. the cassettes offer you a very wide range, which is all you need for almost all types of environments. the rear derailleur in this kit has a short cage and can accommodate a cassette up to 33t. a fluid clutch keeps the chain under tension, so it won't slap even on rough terrain. the front derailleur is completely redesigned. sram has optimised it for a difference of 13 teeth between the inner and outer chainrings. at this difference, the derailleur shifts ideally and you switch to the other blade flawlessly. you will find that all sram's double 12 speed cranksets share this characteristic. included with this disc groupset are the completely redesigned sram rotors. due to the open design, sand, mud and other dirt are well disposed of. in addition, these rotors have increased heat dissipation during long descents. finally, you can completely tune the groupset to your needs. to do this, simply download the sram axs app and you can adjust everything completely to your liking. it is also possible to do synchronized shifting, where the system automatically shifts between the front chainrings based on your preferred gear.

Reviews:
This was my first experience of electronic shifting. New build for my wife who has some arthritis in her left hand which makes front shifting difficult. She had SRAM Red so not a huge difference in functionality and she was on top of it inside a few km's. Loves it, though keeps pushing the shift blades harder than necessary. The compensating shift mode is simply brilliant! Very easy setup – the video install instructions are excellent. Built using a generic 12 speed chain and a non-XD ZTTO 34T cassette. Works flawlessly and worth every cent even at usual retail.Mick M.
Fantastic gruppo at an even better price. So easy to set up & install that it takes less than 15 minutes. I have original eTap on two other bikes & this is as good & probably better but time will tell. Very happy with Bikeinn as usual.Velottante
Bikeinn does it again! An unbelievable price, and quick delivery make it such an easy experience. This set looks and feels even better in person. Everything arrived safe and sound, thanks to its excellent packaging. Set up was extremely easy and it just works! This package has everything you need to make it work, the charger comes with a usb cable (you have to supply the usb power plug) and the batteries take about 1 hour to charge. The shifters feel nice in the hands and feel strong and light but don't feel like cheap materials or construction. The derailleurs are easy to set up and look great on the bike. This set comes with brake cables and housing as well. I am glad I switched to SRAM, and will definitely purchase from Bikeinn again!James

Product Details:
Sram has now launched the world's first 12-speed wireless electronic gear group for racing – axs. the group has brewed the technology from their well-tested and super well-functioning etap technology. the system is the fastest gear change sram has made so far, just as the group is easier to set up and easier to maintain than cable systems, and of course, it just gives the bike a much cleaner look. the set is easy to put on a bike and is easier than ever since no cables have to be pulled and the setting is made on sram's app. the group is made up of:. rear derailleur and shift brake lever. the rear derailleur is wireless and lighter than ever. comes with a battery. it is narrower so that it can withstand crashes better and sits closer to the bike. the shifters are wireless and have more options than before. can be set via sram's app. the group comes with a charger, guide, and setting tool.
Reviews:
SRAM Force works so good and the electronic shifting is quiet and fast. Great Sigma service as usual.Phill42

3. Sram Nx Eagle Dub Groupset – 175mm
Product Details:
Sram nx eagle dub groupset with durable performance at the heart of its design, the sram nx eagle dub groupset provides quality, wide-range 12-speed shifting at a low, value-oriented price-point. ideal for those seeking their first single ring drivetrain, or for riders finishing off their first custom build, the sram nx groupset is tough, reliable and designed to take the hits associated with aggressive, modern trail riding. this groupset provides an excellent foundation for any mountain bike build and utilises the commonly found shimano hg freehub and non-boost spacing standards for ease of compatibility. all mechanical items in the sram eagle ecosystem are interchangeable, allowing for simple upgrades in the future if required. tough and responsive, the nx eagle crankset uses the dub interface to resist ingress from water and dirt. the steel x-sync 2 chainring is highly durable, and owing to its unique mud-shedding tooth profile, is built to stand the test of time. the 12-speed rear cassette sees a wide 11-50t range and is ideal for a range of mountain biking applications. built to deliver slick-shifting that punches well above its price-point, the nx eagle shifter and derailleur provide an excellent on-trail experience that rivals that of more premium models. although heavier than their higher-end counterparts, trickle-down technology sees smooth crisp shifting across the entire 12-speed range, leaving you free to focus on the trail ahead.

Reviews:
The shifting for the front crank on my five-year old Surly ECR with the stock Surly-branded 2×9 drivetrain had never been amazing, and had gotten worse over time as the chainrings became more worn. It had reached the point where I was minimizing the times I shifted the front crank because it either wouldn't shift or would throw the chain, and this was a problem because I commute a few hundred miles per month on my bike. The Surly-branded replacement chainrings were very expensive, and I wasn't enthusiastic about buying new ones since they'd never worked super well in the first place. I'd been reluctant to switch to a different drivetrain because my ECR has odd-ball chainstay spacing due to the 29er+ wheels, however, I'd noticed that Surly had switched their stock drivetrain to the SRAM NX 1×12 system–after some research, I determined that the SRAM NX system was designed as a "drop in" replacement for my Shimano-standard freehub, and Moosejaw had them in stock at a good price, so I decided to go for it. The installation was easy and SRAM's instructions were very thorough (once I eventually found them–they're not included in the box and weren't easy to find on their website) and the system has been working perfectly for the first hundred miles or so, which seems like a great sign. My only regret is not switching to the SRAM NX drivetrain sooner!Marko
I have had SRAM NX Eagle Dub Boost Group set for over a year now a I am very impressed and pleased. The group set arrived stock on my Ripmo AF. The cassette requires minimum to no maintenance. The shifter complies to your commands. The crank is durable. No issues with spider ring. I needed to adjust the shifting once after riding for 2 months and have not needed to adjust since. The rear derailleur shifts as sportingly as did SRAM X-9 rear derailleur.mol8sses
Coupled with the Sram videos on YouTube, installing this groupset was extremely simple. The most difficult part for me was tuning the derailleur, but only because it was my first time doing so. All in all, it took just over an hour to get everything put together and working correctly. I hit my local trails with it after a few rides around the neighborhood and I can already tell a big difference in the way I ride. It makes climbing easier and shifting overall simpler. I would recommend this groupset to anyone who has an old or outdated system with a Shimano freehub, which is the situation I was in.Geoff

The best wheelset in that price rangeSteven S.
I am looking for a set of Campagnolo Bora WTO 33 wheels… for rim brakes and a Campy 10 gruppo. You show a disc brake version in stock. Do you have or can you get a rim brake version compatible with my gruppo? If it's possible for you to obtain, please provide lead-time and price.Roger

Reviews:
The installation was a breeze, after proper tuning it works like a charm. Some people complained about tough up shift, but I did not find it tough, as long you lubricate the shifter and cable with stuff like wet lube. for me 8 speed is perfect, simplicity, reliability, durability and cost. There is no cage lock for removing the wheel with ease, what I do is removing the chain from the chainring to release tension on RD, then I can remove the wheel with ease. the clutch works well, there is a slight slack before the clutch engages for tolerance, I have not drop my chain once although I'm also using a NW chainring, the drivetrain is quite. there are not many groupset with 8 or 9 speed and clutch and can't understand why shimano and sram are not jumping in this type of groupset, where the demand is there, I'm glad companies like microshift and box are making them.turixmen
Installed this on a Tern Link D8 fitted with a Bafang 750W Mid Drive. Perfect fit with no issues. Shifting is much smoother than the stock Shimano Claris.ftech1111

For a complete groupset, I don't think you can beat it at this price. Replaced my entire NX setup on the old Remedy with this and it's a nice improvement in shifting, especially under load. Installation was simple except for my PF bottom bracket (stop making these!) but that's no fault of the groupset. The included b-tension adjuster guide made it easy to align properly and shifting has been flawless. The 52T is as big as a salad plate, but I sure do appreciate it on those steep uphill grinds.Benjamin
Fantastic Groupset – love it!! The help I received from Jensen is choosing this groupset was fantastic. They helped me find and purchase toe right groupset for me. THANKS!!Ben Oyle
Bought this over the NX. Love the 500% range. Adjusting it to work perfectly is really difficult. The b screw adjustment is very sensitive. Yet to experience the potential due to the lockdown.ngnear

My third bike to covert to the GX Eagle. You can't beat the price and the whole thing is bulletproof. The paint and design on the cranks wear out quickly, so if that bothers you, put protection on before you ever ride.Patrick C

The new SRAM Eagle GX DUB 12 speed group set with the 10-52 cassette is without a doubt a good investment for your bike. It was very easy to install the entire groups and it worked perfectly right away. The new 52 rear cassette cog is the bailout gear that was missing from the older 50 cassette cog setup. I now can easily ride those extra tough climbs without getting off my bike.

Shame this group set comes stock on so many bikes. It works; however, it is so loud and that I consider it unrideable. The drivetrain is very unrefined vs. equivalent Ultegra group set.Morgan Gerlak

Came with my bike. One nice feature was the clutch thing that holds the derailleur open. General shift quality was good, maybe about the same as Deore or SLX. If you take the derailleur off for travel the washers and springs that fly everywhere are annoying. Much simpler with shimano. Today I was JRA (seriously) and my well adjusted derailleur just jumped into the spokes and exploded. Pretty annoying. Jockey wheel, spoke and outer-cage destroyed. The reason I will not by this ever again is that you can't buy a replacement outer-cage. What a SHRAM!Matt
The GX 12 speed derailleur is the workhorse of the SRAM lineup. It offers great shifting performance, at an affordable price. The NX and SX derailleurs leave some to be desired in quality and performance. The X01 derailleur is lighter, but much more expensive. I recommend pairing a GX derailleur, and an X01 shifter. This is the best value for performance.Matt M
Outstanding derailleur, solid shifts that are consistent and precise. WAY easier to adjust than the AXS. If you get something wrong, good luck getting it to run like butter again. It's like an old car vs a new car…you can work on the old one yourself, but you need special tools and technology to work on a new car – same with XO1 vs AXS editions of SRAM. I beat the brakes off my SRAM XO1 12-speed derailleur doing Enduros and it has never let me down. You can upgrade the pulleys and cage (out of the gate, or wait until you smash yours on a rock, like I did) to the ones from Garbaruk – they are outstanding for cassettes, pulleys/cage, etc and less pricey than equivalent from the original / SRAM stuff. The upgrades will make some minor, but noticable performance and efficiency improvements – plus they look sick, as they come in a bunch of different colors. Ride it til you smash it, then customize your whip…the derailleur will keep on shiftin' Unrelated – "Save Some Loot" tip: FYI – you can add this to your google search – try: 'part you want' + 'take offs' and you can often find brand new parts that came from open box or new bikes who upgraded (and the brand new factory/bike shop-installed parts (w/o any box of course) were 'taken off') – typically for 25% off, if you can find a vendor online or local bike shop that offers that – call and ask!snakechurch

Inexpensive. Bought to replace road crank on commuter bike. Easy to disassemble and replace chain rings. Used a Raceface Narrow Wide Single and dumped the front derailleur. Don't want a Triple… so this purchase was all about price. Wish it was 110 BCD so I could use a 42T. Had to settle for 38T so I can't quite go as fast as I wanted to. But it's a decent compromise. I did leave the small tooth ring on to use as a spacer. As this is kind of a Frankenbike the little additional weight from doing so doesn't matter to me. Inexpensive and square taper bottom bracket was easy to install. Cheap solution for older bikes you want to get going again.JOHN
I upgraded to this crankset because the original no-name crank that came on by bike had gears that were out of true. I stayed true to my original gearing and got the 28-38-48T set, and went with the longer 175mm crank arms, and I'm glad I did. I considered going with the next level up the "Shimanao Alivio" but I would have had to change my BB to make that work. This crankset matched my 122.5mm BB perfectly, in fact, to my knowledge this is the best crank you can buy that fits a square taper 122.5mm BB. I immediately noticed the following improvements with this crank: Shifting has become much smother. The gears are nice and straight so adjusting my front derailleur is no longer an impossible task. Compared to my old crank this one is extremely light, at least a pound if not two lighter. The crank looks very nice. PROS: Easy To Install, Durable, Lightweight, Enhances Pedaling Efficiency, Precise Shifting BEST USES: Commuting, Mountain BikingBob
If your in the market for a bike build like I was you have found the right crankset. I been using Shimano products for years. If you want quality then add this to your cart, this set won’t let you down. Smooth ride and smooth shifting it’s all you need.

Reviews:
After swearing I wouldn't put electronic shifting on both of my mountain bikes I snagged this set up during a promotion. Very simple to install and get going as it takes longer to remove the old, cabled set up. Everything you need for fun times is in the box (it even comes with a very handy multi-tool). On the bike the shifting is consistent once you get the micro-adjust set. The AXS App will allow you to customize the button commands and what a long press does pretty painlessly. Compared to the XX1 AXS, if I didn't know any better I could swear this shifts slightly faster somehow. Very happy with this purchase after swearing I could live without it. Pro-tip: remove the battery and install the blank when you're driving and it won't run down the battery. Extra batteries are cheap enough and I tend to leave one and a charger hanging out in my car for the "oh no I forgot" moments. Charging from dead takes pretty much exactly an hour and I've done it on the way to the trailhead before and been totally fine.Garth
The shifting is super quick and smooth, theres no question about that. My problem with AXS is the ergonomics of the shifter. It goes up and down, this doesnt really make sense in my head because up can mean two different things. Am I shifting up to a larger cog? Am I shifting up to a harder gear? Same thing with down, down to a smaller cog? Down to an easier gear? Ive swapped the button configuration a few times and no matter what I do I miss shifts all the time because I have to stop and think about what upmeans on a rear cassette. I have two bikes with electronic drivetrains, one Di2 and one AXS and the Di2 is way more customizable and the ergonomics make way more sense, left means youre going to the left of the cassette (up to a bigger cog and down in difficulty) and right means right (down to a smaller cog and up in difficulty). It just makes more sense. That being said, Id still rather have AXS than anything mechanical; but apples to apples, if Im spending my money Im going with Di2.tirider50
I started off with NX Eagle, GX derailleur, NX chain, NX Eagle shifter. I had ghost shifting, constant cleaning and re-alignment. ADVICE: chuck them in the bin or don't buy a bike with them. I then went to GX Eagle cassette 10-52, GX derailleur, X01 chain, X01 shifter. Better, much better – but still no where near as good as AXS. Honestly, I was about to jump over to Shimano.. I'm now running GX Eagle cassette 10-52, X01 chain, AXS GX derailleur. Once the AXS Eagle was aligned it perfectly shifted, reliably and predictably. Also, I think it might be shifting that little bit quicker which is noticeable on pinch climbs. Rapid up shifting is good – I have it set to do 3 at a time. What it doesn't like is rapid downshifting into gears 1 and 2; this is exacerbated under load. But once you know that, you configure to drop 3 (or 2) at a time by holding the downshift button. Then increment 1 at a time in the low gears. What I wish it could do is have the ability to configure a rapid downshift to a gear of your choice. So if you were in 10, you could hold shifter button and it would rapid downshift to gear 3 and then increment by 1 gear at a time down to 2 and 1 (but there's only options to rapid down or up shift in increments of 2, 3, everything or off. This could easily be integrated into firmware.) AND last of all, when you move the bike for storage or transport, you can accidentally bump the shifter and it will change gears without you realising. But you get used to it and it's not a biggy. Also, I've charged it once since buying it weeks ago. I better go and check/charge it ;PKai G.

I have install this crankset on my Topstone 1 that had around 150 miles. So it's a pretty new bike (cassette, chain and derailleur). But after one ride I've noticed metal shavings on my chain, cassette and front chainrings. Before installation I've noticed that chainrings on a new crankset are not smooth (have burrs). Not sure if I got a "lemon" or is it a norm but I didn't see this on any my bikes before… (ibis that has shimano drivetrain and fsa crankset that Topstone came with didn't have this issue).PJFry
Replaced stock FSA 19MM 46t/30t Canondale Topstone 1 crank. Works great, so much smoother than stock crank and allows for overall faster topdown speed. Installed myself by replacing FSA BB with SM-BBR60 since FSA BB is not compatible with this crank. Some force with a rubber mallet was required to get crank fitted into new BBR60 BB. A 3/8 torque wrench with support for 40-60Nm is also required to properly torque BB. Non-drive side crank arm is easy to install, just set preload then toque crank arm screws between 12-14Nm (alternating). Well worth the time and money for a crankset upgrade from stock.
I ordered this, a new cassette, and a long cage derailleur to set up my gravel bike as a 1×11. Was getting fed up with the front derailleur, but already had Shimano, so it was cheaper and easier to switch to the GRX components compared to changing everything to SRAM (no offense to SRAM). Shimano makes great lightweight cranksets. All I needed was an inexpensive 8 star tool to remove and fit this one; I had the other tools. Easy enough to look up videos how to do it myself! Also, Jenson USA has been very swift with their orders, even during COVID19!Alexandra

Reviews:
After gradually increasing foot problems I realised I needed to invest in a new pedal system with a wide, stable platform. After a lot of online research I decided on Shimano SPD-SL. I already used Shimano SPD pedals on my MTB and Winterhack, so I knew all about the great bearings and overall quality. Early days yet, but with some widefit Shimano shoes and these Ultegra pedals, my feet feel a lot better and I'm now approaching 50:50 power output from both legs. Bearings ultra-smooth and quality seems excellent, and as with elsewhere in their range, if Ultegra is this good, why buy Dura-Ace? (Got Campag running through my veins, but I'm also a pragmatist). PS – big shout out for the totally professional and knowledgeable sales assistant who spent an hour with me, talking about pedal systems and trying on different shoes (sorry, forget your name!)CAADnewbie
These are pedals that will work well for a long time. SPD-SL is a solid system based on years of experience, and one that you can rely on for parts, cleats, and more for a long time. I moved over from Speedplay pedals after my particular model was not continued after being purchased by Wahoo, so I couldn’t get cleats or other parts—very frustrating! It took a bit for me to get used to the more limited float, but after some months of use, I really like these Ultegra pedals and don’t have any knee pain or issues with them.RJinCO
I rode speedplay pedals for about 30 years but when they discontinued them I decided to try a different make and chose the Shimano PD-R8000. Now I wish I made the change long ago. The first thing I noticed was how easy it is walk in them, no more clonking around as I did with the Speedplay’s. I am having trouble getting used to getting my foot clipped-in possibly due to muscle memory after all those year’s with different pedal’s. Hey, Moosejaw. Do you like me now?Merkz

The bikeInn store excellently fulfills its obligations to the customer. Fast, competent service and product information step by step are the features of their work. Great prices. Sma crank is a typical road medium Shimano product, which is the most worth recommending.Korba
Although it is positioned as a low-priced version of an advanced grade, the blue-grey paint is beautiful and the product system is high. However it is not a hollow-tech structure, the invisible back side has been trimmed to reduce weight. Although it is not light, I think that the rigidity of the tooth part is sufficient.Nc
happy with the product that allowed me to replace the old identical crankset which got damaged after 5 years of daily use. it's gone again for 5 years I hopeMarc

group set perfecto para bike de 7 speedgabyronald
I previously had some janky 8 gear cassette on my bike that would not allow me to climb any hills or really be able to crawl up any mountain with precision and ease. The Prime Nine is a great and affordable upgrade that got me riding more, instead of walking my bike up the hill. The nine gears offer the perfect amount of spacing and power to climb as slow or as fast as I want. The cassette is massive, and looks super beefy and dope on my bike, and really does give you all the range you could ask for, unless you want really fine tuning with your gears and shifting. This drivetrain groupset was easy to install, and you can put it on your bike and forgot about it until you bash it on something and have to fix your shifting. Great product.chdu594
I can't believe that for the price of a sram cassette, I could outfit my bike with this box 3 shifter, rear derailleur, chain, and cassette! Installation was easy, the components shift very well and the quality seems great! I am very glad I chose this groupset..dchakos

Super great climber with the 50t cassette, adjusting is a bit finicky.kutchgabe
The jumps between gears are to my liking (YMMV), and the shifts are quick and precise enough to suit me. The chain looks to be durable (pretty beefy), and the shifter and derailleur are of excellent quality at this price. It's no XTR, but it's also not in that stratospheric price range. The only downside, to me, is the cassette is a bit of a boat anchor. But that's to be expected for the money. and why I think of this as a "trail" oriented group, rather than a racing group.interceptorjg

I upgraded my groupset from to Ultegra R8000 and it was such a big improvement. This item specifically replaced a Praxis Alba crankset. I think this crankset works perfectly with the rest of the Ultegra groupset. Made a huge difference in shifting crispness on the front.
4 years new Shimano ultegra crankset design malfunction. The front piece separated from the rear piece without breaking but cannot be repaired. Ridden and maintained. A world wide problem. Shimano say it isn't a design issue. Spend another $500 for the part? How long will it last?Julian
This is a great looking crank. Power transfer is equally as good as the looks. It's lightweight and comes in many different size options. I went for the 52T over the standard 50T, as I do a lot of riding on flats around my area. I find this helps minimize chainslap also when it the small cogs. If your bike came with a generic lookalike crank, I recommend this upgrade as it will add rigidity and decrease the weight of your bike.Millennium

One month in, feels like a solid wheelset. Bought to replace a lighter set of Easton wheels that had failed. I don't miss the weight differential. Also, I am the last person riding 9-speed. With the included spacer, the rear cassette body is fully compatible with my old set up. For Jenson, best price and rapid free shipping. No complaints.Richard
Bought these as a set of winter training wheels, for a tubeless set up. They're a bit heavy to get going and don't seem to tackle hills amazingly, but I never expected this when buying them. Once up to speed they roll fantastically, and with the Schwalbe Pro One Tubeless tyres they're comfortable, grippy, and goo don brakes, the rear does leak overnight which I'm hoping will stop once the sealant fills any gaps, but there's no problem holding the pressure for a ride. Value for money you really cant go wrong with these wheels!JH94
I have had these wheels for the last two summers. I had a couple of issues that I had to take care of with them. I replaced the valve stems with ones that have removable valve cores so I could add sealant through them. I used RSN 2X Bike Tubeless Presta Valves Stem Aluminum Hi Flo 44mm Universal Red/Black. The bearings were way too tight so I had to figure out how to adjust them. Once those issues were resolved I have enjoyed going tubeless.Lynn
