This product works really well if you want a gel with a strong hold! Its affordable and best if you want to get rid of fly aways for a nice sleek look. All you have to do is apply the gel to damp hair, brush the fly aways (go over it a couple times if you have thick hair), and then wrap a satin scarf around your hair for a bit. After this is done your hair will be nicely laid. It also works well for a range of curly/kinky hair types from 3a-4c and more. The only critique that I have is that it doesn't shine as much and for certain hairstyles, I want a nice shiny sleek look. As the instructions say, I apply the moisturizing cream and then go over my hair with the light hold gel. I've used L'Oreal's "Lock-It" gel for years, and they've now discontinued it with no warning (or I would have stocked up for life!). This new product is not at all a substitute or replacement for "Lock-It" and did absolutely nothing to hold my short, spiky haircut in place, or even last long enough to style it and use another product to set it.

I purchased this item from the reviews I read about the hold it gave to edges. I was looking for something for my locs that would not make my hair brittle, white, etc. I dont find this product to produce those affects, but it does not hold my edges. I don't make it out the door in the morning without them rising, and I have soft fine hair. I've tried to add water first, then the product. No water, and just the product, adding a wrap for a few minutes while I dress without great results for the entire day. I like the smell of it however, that's a plus. Perhaps I'll look into a super hold next instead.La H.
I like that it doesn't leave a white residue behind once used. I'm natural with locs so sometimes I want my edges laid down. Let me start off with I haven't found and edge gel that ever works pass 2 hours. I think this is an okay gel but not great for the price. I have 2c/3a hair and I used it along with another gel and it’s helped with hold and seems to keep my hair moisturised. The smell is pretty bad though – like lemon bleach/disinfectant and the whole room stunk after I used it. However it seems to have faded a few hours after washing and my hair still faintly smells of lemon but I can now also smell the other products I used (which I couldn’t before as the lemon was so overpowering and pungent). The texture is also odd like a raw eggy yellow vibe but if you can get over the texture and smell then I think it’s a decent gel but I probably wouldn’t buy it again. You can definitely get a wide range of better gels for less money.han167

This is the first time I've purchased a Boucleme product. I admit the price range is the only thing which has held me back from trying this. I have tried quite a few hair gels for my wavy/curly hair and I have to admit, this has got to be the best so far. I apply this when my hair is wet. Pros; Smells incredibly divine when hair is wet and even once dry I have beautiful, soft, waterfall like waves and curls, I just love the end result. Greatly reduces and has even eliminated frizz on my first use This did work when I applied it to dry hair Lightweight gel I don't have to apply anymore on 2nd day onwards after wash, I can spray water on my hair and my waves and curls reappear defined! Does not contain sulphates, silicones or parabens. All clean ingredients Cons: Price! Very lightweight hold which is both a pro and a con. I find I have to use quite a bit on my hair so as much as my hair isn't saturated in product, I do have to use quite a bit. Having to use quite a bit for my hair and then remembering it's pricey… I will be buying this product again. It works for me thankfully. I have coarse thick hair with medium density. Also low porosity. I have had great results with this gel. I follow the curly girl method and this has been my favorite gel so far. Light to medium hold which is perfect for my 2b waves-3a curls. I haven't gotten a cast with it but my hair normally doesn't cast. I have thin and extremely fine 2A/2B hair that tends to get oily quickly. I almost always air-dry my hair with just some scrunching to encourage the curl. I've been looking for a product that helps define the curls and has just enough hold to keep the "scrunch" from falling out while it dries. The vast majority of products I've tried either make my hair stiff and crunchy or are too moisturizing and end up leaving it greasy and stringy. I've only used this gel for about a week, but I'm in love! I can definitely see this not doing much for thicker/coarser hair, but for my baby-fine hair, the light touch is perfect! It does have a strong lavender scent at first, but it dissipates almost immediately and doesn't stick around in your hair. I haven't noticed it drying my hair out at all, or causing any kind of weird texture or residue. If you struggle to find a curl product for super-fine hair, try this out!!Maria
I love this lavender mint line. I recieved the gel, moisture milk, and taming creme as samples from Ulta and was so impressed I bought the full size versions. I have fine hair that can range from wavy to S curls. I use the moisturizer milk on very wet hair and brush through. Next I add the taming creme and brush that in as well. I then apply the gel with "praying hands" , scrunch it in with a microfiber towel then plop for 30 mins before allowing my hair to finish air drying. A quick shake at the roots when my hair is dry and my curls are near perfect! I have never had luck getting my curls to clump but this product (or a combo of the 3) produces clump without any effort from me. There never is any crunch to scrunch out but yet still produces very nice and frizz free curls. This surprises me because I live in a humid climate and have always assumed the crunchier the better for frizz taming. I use all 3 of the products together and love them!! I found this on sale at Ulta for 3 for $25… It's the PERFECT finishing product for my thick, straight hair. I've tried a TON of styling creams, lotions, sprays, and pomades over the years, but they all made my hair look flat, greasy, stiff, or didn't have enough hold to keep baby hairs from sticking up. This helps give hair a little 2nd day texture without making it look dirty, doesn't weigh hair down at ALL, keeps flyaways and baby hairs at bay, and keeps split ends from looking… split! I received this as a sample from Ulta with another purchase I had made. I have thin, fine hair and I use this product either with a curling iron or curlers . It says it has #3 hold and it does. I cannot tell you how very pleased I am. I have actually gone two days without styling my hair and it still looks good. This is unheard of for me.
