This WAS the product I've spent my entire life looking for. I have naturally dry, frizzy curls. I'm pretty low maintenance so I never use heat, styling products or anything of that nature. One of the products was All About Curls Quenched Cream Conditioner. The white formula is free of Silicones, Parabens, Cruelty-Free, and Color Safe. I was gifted this by I glue ster in exchange for a review, as part of a four piece All About Curls set from Zotos containing the lo-lather shampoo, this conditioner, definition gel and taming cream. After the shampoo, I was a little freaked out, because I felt like it had almost cleaned my hair too much! When I first squirted the conditioner into my hand, I was worried that it wasn’t rich enough to make up for that. I am so glad I followed the directions and scrunched it in- it was like my hair had been primed just for this, and it sucked it right up! I could tell it was absorbing into every strand- but it didn’t leave my hair greasy or oily at all, and washed clean without residue. I’m now on the evening of day 2 since the night I used it, and I only had to use a very minimal amount of dry shampoo this morning- but, my hair looks healthy! I really, really love that this is silicone free. That’s hard to find in a conditioner. The smell is okay- a bit floral for my taste- but it fades quickly and just leaves a hint behind on hair. I use a leave in conditioner applied in the shower to soaking wet hair. I then use a curl primer. I scrunch these products into hair and micro plop to remove excess water. I then apply curl keeper just like gel, using praying hands method to coat each curl. I add more to the crown and smooth over waves. I then plop for 10-30 minutes depending on if I’m air drying or diffusing.
I actually prefer to air dry and this product allows that, though it takes hours to dry. Can form a slight cast which I actually love. Once fully dry any crunch is easily scrunched out. I NEVER have shine in my hair due to the coarse texture but with this my curls are defined and shiny. Best part is that even in high humidity this holds perfectly.
I cannot speak to 2nd or 3rd day hair as I haven’t been able to test this part yet.

What a fun brand – this packaging is so retro! Even though it is not my go to product, I do enjoy it. I found mine in Marshalls, but other than that you can mainly buy it from Amazon making it harder to find. It does enhance your curly hair create nice texture without weighing your hair down. Easy to distribute and a little goes a long way. So if you can find it in store buy it, but I normally do drugstore having to order online is not always easy to do. BUT, that all changed as soon as I got them into my hands, I'm thoroughly impressed! These pencil liners are the 'sharpenable' format, which I do enjoy. They are both (my favorite) gel formula – allowing them to be intensely pigmented, yet still maintain a very soft smooth application. These liners are multipurpose – great for working into an eyeshadow look, or adding a dash of color onto the waterline. Both of the colors actually look really good blended together, but they also look stunning on their own. I recently saw it at Target and remembered it as an old favorite. My hair has multiple textures, including very tight curls, but it is also fine and low porosity – I am always looking for lighter leave-in products, as that is what seems to work best. It helps with hold/definition. I only apply a little bit of product in my hair at a time – it initially feels slightly sticky, but using less and allowing it to absorb helps. I’m finding this gel perfectly ok. I will use it but not buy again. I got it at the grocery store where there are slim pickings on CG-approved gels for a good price, so that’s a plus! The first time I used it I thought it didn’t really do anything. Then I realized I just have to use a ton of it! I have thick, dense 2b-3a hair and I use a few ounces for one style (I found this out when I traveled with a 3oz container of it and used over half of it). When I use a lot to really coat the hair, it does give me definition without stickiness, flakes or crunch. But then I find that definition doesn’t last longer than a day, or definitely not more than 2. This gel is fine if you are in a pinch and considering ingredients, but I wouldn’t recommend it as a go-to.
I have what I think are 2A or 2B waves (maybe both?), and I'm kind of new to taking care of them. I've spent my whole life up to this point thinking I had oily straight hair, so bear with me here! I actually like that the consistency is a bit more fluid, as it makes it easier to work with and isn't as intimidating for a newbie like me. It's not too terribly sticky, at least on damp hair. It doesn't seem to be too stiff, sticky, or heavy, which is nice because my hair seems to be a lot more fine than I thought it was. I'm not done with the bottle yet, and I'm working on other parts of my hair care technique at the same time, so I'm not ready to give a final verdict on it just yet. I'm a natural with 4a/4b hair that mainly does wash n goes. I wanted a gel to layer for hold that had better ingredients than eco and wetline. I planned to use this as a topper. I've experienced that this product offers great hold, it does not control frizz very well due to the light/watery consistency. I used a botanical gel underneath and I think my hair would have had more frizz control if I used it on damp hair vs. soaking wet. I feel as if my hair dried quicker while using this product (I did sit under the hooded dryer) and the application was super easy. I felt that it had slip due to the consistency. The hold that this gives is correct. I would describe it as a firm-medium. Definitely not a strong hold. And I would agree with the reviewer that said the curls need to be sculpted beforehand. I love this product. After my leave-in I usually have a few tangles, but when I use this cream instead of my usual cream, it gave me the best slip and gets all the tangles out that my leave in did not attack, and I had no frizz. It cut my wash day in half. It used to take me an hour in a half to do my hair (tangles, ugh!), now it only takes 45 – 50 minutes. My curls were so hydrated and defined. I just love this product. Don't let the size of the bottle make you think you need a bigger bottle because a little is all you need…about the size of a quarter if you're doing sections (I do 4 sections) but use it according to your hair density. My hair is a thick density on the top (this was great for that) and my hair is 3C/4A. It works perfect my sista's. Try it. Also, I noticed it has shea butter in it…a major plus for moisture. I have type 3c/3b Hair so I am always needing a good hair gel. I do like the original gel in this curl talk line. It provides adequate hold. Once this gel was introduced, I knew I had to try it. It does have a sticky consistency. But I am sure that is what helps the gel give that extra hold. You will have a hard cast on your hair once it is dry, but u can always break the cast if u want to. This gel holds up to humidity well. My advice since it is so sticky to the touch and to avoid tangling your hair is to apply your typical styling products before hand, and add this gel at the very last. It will be easier to work through the hair and wont leave a tangles mess. I found mine in Marshalls, but other than that you can mainly buy it from Amazon making it harder to find. It does enhance your curly hair create nice texture without weighing your hair down. Easy to distribute and a little goes a long way. So if you can find it in store buy it, but I normally do drugstore having to order online is not always easy to do. I used this product for about a week before writing this review. Covering all 5 senses, it smelt great. It has a light refreshing aroma that is not overwhelming. It has a thin water feel. At first I was skeptical because I am use to thick creamy products. But this was applied to wet hair. It was also paired with the priming milk. The product was easy to dispense with no trouble at all. As my hair dried, it didn’t feel hard or crunchy. Almost all my curls were defined. Hair felt bouncy and airy. Hair was air dried so can’t review with how well this would work with a diffuser. Very happy with this product and will definitely buy more of these products. I have 2C, high density, coarse, porous, long hair. Since adding heavy highlights to blend the grays, my hair has been a dry, frizzy nightmare! I have read endless product reviews, watched countless You Tube Videos regarding care and products for my hair. I have purchased so many products that it is insane, and none fully managed to clump my curls/waves and provide humidity protection.
I use a leave in conditioner applied in the shower to soaking wet hair. I then use a curl primer. I scrunch these products into hair and micro plop to remove excess water. I then apply curl keeper just like gel, using praying hands method to coat each curl. I add more to the crown and smooth over waves. I then plop for 10-30 minutes depending on if I’m air drying or diffusing.
I actually prefer to air dry and this product allows that, though it takes hours to dry. Can form a slight cast which I actually love. Once fully dry any crunch is easily scrunched out. I NEVER have shine in my hair due to the coarse texture but with this my curls are defined and shiny. Best part is that even in high humidity this holds perfectly.
I cannot speak to 2nd or 3rd day hair as I haven’t been able to test this part yet.

I bought this product in-store about a month ago and have spent the last two weeks recovering from the severe reaction that stemmed from it. After looking up the ingredients on the package, I realized too late that there are a few key irritants in the product that reacted negatively to my skin. My symptoms include scalp irritation and tenderness, face sores, and intense swelling around my right eye. I would highly recommend steering clear from this product and brand. Because regardless of the quality (price) of products I use, my wash n go will last 4-5 days—which I’m absolutely fine with. So I wash it every 4-5 days, which is too often for a lot of people; not my problem. I love botanical-based products like these because they’re usually easier to work with—when you have long hair that’s a plus. In my opinion, it clumps my type 4 hair like a mane choice gel, but with less hold, more moisture, WAY MORE slip and I don’t feel a residue in the coming days. My hair just feels softer as the week goes on. As said on YouTube, this is a medium hold not a strong Wetline-type hold. So it’s a perfect, affordable option for someone who washes often and typically wears wash n go’s, like myself. Due to the softness of my hair, I would also use this for twists—I don’t do twist outs. I don’t think it would have enough hold for fingercoils on my hair. Overall, I do love using this gel, it plays well with a variety of leave-ins and mousses, so I’ll be repurchasing it. Just in other places because it’s cheaper.
I received this product from Influenster as a sample to try. I gave 3 stars to try and keep it neutral. I’ve never been big when it comes to hair products like mousse, gels, hairspray, etc. I don’t like my hair to be crunchy, stiff or sticky. I also don’t really have curly hair…it’s actually wavy but even more so naturally frizzy and I usually straighten it or braid it. I tried it because I love the first product that I tried by the same company which is the oil mist. But unfortunately I didn’t like the gel for the reasons I stated above. Maybe because my hair isn’t really curly that neither the mousse or gel accentuated the curls. I did like the packaging and the scent was pleasant but not overpowering. After using Rizos Curls shampoo & conditioner I use the gel BY ITSELF.. and it gives me a very good strong cast and TONS of volume. I love using this as a single styler. My next day hair still looks amazing just using this gel without refreshing as well. If you want a less/light hold, pair it with their defining cream. I have wavy 2b hair that's low porosity and have struggled to find a gel that works. I was ready to throw this away because everytime I used it with my daily products, my hair would be crunchy, stringy, and dry. My stylist told me to try it by itself since some gels work best alone. I am so deeply disappointed with this product that I felt compelled to write this review. First, I would like to say that I love Aveda products and really enjoy some of the products from the Nutriplenish line. I purchased this product because I use the Nutriplenish conditioner regularly and previously used the leave-in conditioner from the same line. I like the leave-in conditioner, but I find the spray-bottle mechanism to be wasteful and the product leaves my hair slightly crunchy until brushed out thoroughly. Overall, I wanted something that was easier to apply and more moisturizing. I contemplated buying Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair given that it is on the best seller list but decided to go with this product instead because I am more familiar with the Nutriplenish line and love how it smells. Well, that was a mistake. I don't find this product to be moisturizing at all. My ends remain dry, the product does not add any luster or shine as other Aveda products do, it flattens my natural waves/curls, and it has become increasingly difficult to run my fingers through my hair. To my last point, I own a horse and my hair feels as dry and resistant as his tail does after using this product. For the price of this product, my hair should not feel like a horse's tail. I hate to be so critical, but there is no other way to describe my experience. This product is simply horrendous. I will continue to buy other Aveda products but will be more mindful that products like this exist amongst the different lines that the company offers. was def excited to try a hair gel complimentary from DevaCurl for my honest opinion that claims to be not crunchy. I'm always very skeptical about products that claim to work hair miracles because I've experienced many let downs.. One difference about this is it says to work it in while curls are soaking wet. I still did get a little frizz but nothing like with what i usually use. I would purchase this and recommend it to other curly people. I did take one star for the frizz but would be curious to see how it holds up in an environment that's isn't as humid as whereI live.Laura
Yes! Her hair is fly-away frizzy with light curls like mine, and I think she'll appreciate this as I do. Even when I unthinkingly put a cheap gel on first one day (that I usually layer on when my hair is dried), it came out great with the 2 products piggybacked! And the effect lasts a few days between washings. I just need to fluff it up with a pic, even teasing parts a bit (I'm THAT old!) then smoothing over and applying hairspray. I did like the previous formulation better; I s'ppose the company got shamed into changing it (due to a TV documentary). But this is a great product for my fine hair.joyce
I used to use the Arc Angel gel and always liked it. I switched to Ouidad, which works great, but if I leave Ouidad on my hair for too many days without washing it, my scalp gets itchy. I saw Deva had changed the formula so I gave it a try. The gel has a nice thick consistency and you don't need a lot, which is great, however, you don't get nearly the definition and shine you used to get with Arc Angel. At the end of the day my hair is frizzy, the next day it's really a mess. I'm going to go back to Ouidad and just try a different formula. If you were a fan of Arc Angel, prepare to be disappointed.Mary

This has the texture of a cream more than a gel, but still has quite a bit of hold for a thinner product. I have 3B ish hair that is very easily weighed down when wet, and this did a great job of giving enough hold without being too heavy. I also liked that I could use a lot of it (to get the benefits of a creamier texture) without getting weighed down. I am looking forward to trying the rest of the line, as this was such a nice experience! I think it would work well for a lot of different hair textures, as you can easily layer it or use less depending on your needs. The only small drawback for me was that the scent is very perfumey- it smells nice, but I generally prefer my hair products on the less smelly side.Imss

First, I wouldn't call this product a gel. It's more of a cream gel, which should've been my first indication it wasn't going to work for me. Smell is good, product feels good. It provides a natural hold and my curls are very soft and touchable. However, I have high-porosity hair and need a product that forms a cast on my hair. This isn't it. If your hair is normal or low-porosity this product might work for you, but it just doesn't provide the hold that my curls need.Kristy

LOVE SO MUCH! I have tight curls that boarder coils (like the princess in Brave) so i usually have to use a TON of product but I got amazing results without needing to use 1/2 a bottle of product! This was the routine: 1. Detangle in the shower, apply shampoo to roots/ scalp and massage in, making sure to scrub (No lather but when rinsing it felt very clean, like squeaky clean! My scalp is very happy) 2. Coily Conditioner- I opted for a more intense conditioner since my stylist said i was so under moisturizing and I am sick of needing to use a 1/4 of a bottle on my hair every wash day. It is THICK like margarine and SOO nourishing! My hair only feels that smooth when I do a mask normally and never lasts but it still felt silky even after I rinsed it well with warm water. I also left it on for 5 min and brushed it through with the pattern shower brush 3. Leave in Conditioner – Upside down and de tangled I squeezed some of the water out of my clumps so the product would just be rinsed away and then Smoothed in about 1/2 an eggs worth of leave in and combed through with my fingers, added a little bit more water to train the curls and scrunched in another marble of conditioner. 4. Gel – gel felt almost like a sticky conditioner and I didn’t feel like I needed a ton, probably applied 1/2 of what i used in the leave in. 5. Pattern towel – loved that the towel was extra large 6. Air dry 7. Jojoba oil- When my hair was almost 100% dry (just damp enough to be cool to the touch but not feel wet and just a little crunchy) I scrunched out the crunch with a few drops of the oil and my hair went from looking pretty normal to SO SHINY. I’ve used oils before but goodness! The floral fragrance took a little getting used to but otherwise more than I could have hoped for!Heather P.
LOVE, Love, love it! I initially only bought the style cream, which was hard to distribute through wet hair and made it tacky. Then I noticed the style gel on the website and saw that it was a CREAM gel. Bought it, tried it on my wet hair after applying the leave in, then finished with the Jojoba oil blend and, "WOW!" my waves instantly popped and were elongated. My 2C/3A hair is transitioning and I chose not to do the "big chop", but whether I twist, braid, or bantu knot style, this gel provides superior slip and juicy moisture on wet hair and gives me an almost even wave pattern from root to end. It air dries soft (not glass hard like traditional gels) within a day, and makes my waves–even at the crown roots–feel like butter! I now only use the styling cream on dry hair when re-moisturizing and reactivating waves, as that works better for me. I think this is an okay gel but not great for the price. I have 2c/3a hair and I used it along with another gel and it’s helped with hold and seems to keep my hair moisturised. The smell is pretty bad though – like lemon bleach/disinfectant and the whole room stunk after I used it. However it seems to have faded a few hours after washing and my hair still faintly smells of lemon but I can now also smell the other products I used (which I couldn’t before as the lemon was so overpowering and pungent). The texture is also odd like a raw eggy yellow vibe but if you can get over the texture and smell then I think it’s a decent gel but I probably wouldn’t buy it again. You can definitely get a wide range of better gels for less money.han167
Love this product! My favourite out of the bunch recommended for wavy hair. Will be a keeper in my hair routine. This is the first time I've purchased a Boucleme product. I admit the price range is the only thing which has held me back from trying this. I have tried quite a few hair gels for my wavy/curly hair and I have to admit, this has got to be the best so far. I apply this when my hair is wet. Pros; Smells incredibly divine when hair is wet and even once dry I have beautiful, soft, waterfall like waves and curls, I just love the end result. Greatly reduces and has even eliminated frizz on my first use This did work when I applied it to dry hair Lightweight gel I don't have to apply anymore on 2nd day onwards after wash, I can spray water on my hair and my waves and curls reappear defined! Does not contain sulphates, silicones or parabens. All clean ingredients Cons: Price! Very lightweight hold which is both a pro and a con. I find I have to use quite a bit on my hair so as much as my hair isn't saturated in product, I do have to use quite a bit. Having to use quite a bit for my hair and then remembering it's pricey… I will be buying this product again. It works for me thankfully. I really wanted to like this, but this product did very little for my hair. For reference, I have 2c-3a waves and curls. This product smells very nice, but the texture is very thin and sticky. I even paired this with a leave-in, but it still left my hair feeling extremely dry and limp. I was left with dry, stringy and frizzy curls. I am returning this, unfortunately 🙁Em
Well this product does not work well with oil. It turned into white balls all over my hair. It make my scalp itch and flaked really bad. You will get a very hard curl so if this is what you want, it's for you. I would sample a small amount while at home with no other product. I have psoriasis on my scalp and my hair is curly dry and frizzy. My daily routine is add oil on my scalp and massage my scalp with it and then I put my curl cream and diffuse my hair. But they didn't have Procaxi curl cream so I tried this product and it left my hair flacky dry and hard. The smell was nice ..Cherish

i love layering this gel on top of innersense i create hold, which is my second topper gel. this ouidad gel pretty much seals and sets my style. the texture is slimy not sticky and creates amazing slip. it has anti humidity ingredients so i would say it does it great job keeping freeze at bay. unless you’re super active (like me lol) then expect your curls to not last too long. overall i would recommend this product! for reference i have 4b tight curls, coarser textures around the nape of my hair.curlyblackgirl
I have tried so many gels from lower price points to high end. I have 2C-3B curls, low porosity and regular porosity strands, shoulder length, and curly bangs. Lots of layers in my hair with the shortest being 2” on top. I particularly love this gel because of its runny consistency, which makes it super easy to glaze and rake through the hair. On top of average 80%+ humidity in summer, I work a job that often causes me to sweat. This gel holds up. I can get away with washing my hair once a week. When I need a refresh, I either simply add water which reactivates the gel or, around mid-week, dampen hair and add more gel. The cast created is buildable – less gel = softer curls with little cast, more gel = stronger cast. I prefer a stronger cast with this product, so I use a dollar coin sized amount THREE times on each side of my hair, working in sections. I say this because some people think this gel doesn’t make a cast, but maybe they aren’t using enough product. It is an expensive gel, but worth every penny for me.cassandra.m
I heard hundreds of recommendations for this gel when I started embracing my natural 2B-3A medium porosity hair. I bought it without question, and even ordered a second bottle (the huge one, too) after the first ran out. I thought the dryness/straw texture my hair got after application was just par for the course with gels since it was my first time ever touching gel. As I learned more about humectants and other ingredients in hair products, I realized that the high glycerin content in this gel is the culprit behind my frizzy locks. Doesn't matter how much or how little gel I put in, my hair frizzes and knots as soon as it's 50% dry and it gets exponentially worse if I apply any while refreshing. For anyone reading: if you live somewhere that's very dry or very humid, avoid humectants like glycerin in the first few ingredients (or at all). Humectants draw moisture from their surroundings, but if the air is dry as bone (like it is where I live), it's going to pull that moisture from your hair (and skin if it's in skin care products) and make it extremely dry. If the air is extremely humid, your hair will feel squishy and icky (and skin will feel oily) if you use products with glycerin in them. All that being said, this is a great gel. It's liquid so it coats hair easily and I never had any problems with it flaking. Its glycerin content is just not right for my environment. If you live in a moderately humid place, this will probably be a fantastic gel for you!Amber
