Best Hair Dye For Blue Hair (2025 Update)

I personally think this dye is great, but I can think of another brand that has more staying power and is cheaper, so for that reason I can only give this 4 stars. The tone of this pink is unique to pinks I have bought previously and I think that's great when wanting some dimension! The texture is hard to describe but not its really creamy or gel like. And I think it smells like peppercorn, which doesn't bother me. I find a tube of this goes a really long way too, which is fantastic! The staying power is pretty average for your vivid pinks. Its rare for them to last too long. But I touch mine up every few washes around the roots and let the rest fade to a pastel, so its no big deal.dominique.f

I recently tried this product for the first time and I think it’s now one of my favorites! I’ve gotten TONS of compliments since I used Blue Ruin and I’ve used them all, over the years. Warning: stuff is Pravana Vivids level of stainage. RIP to a couple of ratty old towels, lol. My hair is between a level 2-3 with grays and I bleach and then highlight it to level 7-8. Pro tip is that I mix this product with a little conditioner and Olaplex 3 and then leave it in my hair for 2 hours. It really saves it from being fried. I have a feeling I’ll be using that combo for a while.lisa.b

I tried to manage my expectations a little with this product, as it’s recommended for light blonde or pre-lightened hair but mine was a balayage with dark blonde/light brown. Turns out it defied my expectations and still came out as a super vibrant red! My hair is chest length and the tube had just about enough to cover nearly my whole head (my roots are dark so I avoided those) with a small amount of conditioner mixed in to stretch it a bit further. I’m now on wash 3 or 4 and I’m surprised by how much colour is still in my hair! The vibrancy has been toned down but it’s definitely still red and I expect it will be for a while yet.Nicole

As someone who dyes their hair quite frequently, Manic Panic is always my go-to dye brand. So far, I have used Ultra Violet, Vampire Red (the color shown here), and Hot Hot pink. As a semi-permanent dye, it washes out quicker than permanent dyes typically do, but re-applying it when needed is super easy. Purple and pink for instance, tends to wash out quicker than red in my experience. After a week or two of washing hair daily, the purple and pink are almost completely gone. Vampire Red has seemed to last longer, however, and even after several weeks my hair is still tinted a slight pinkish-orange color unlike the other colors which leave no evidence of ever being dyed after a few weeks. To make the color last longer, I like to wash my hair and then put a shower cap on for the rest of the duration so that the water doesn't hit it the entire time, which seems to do wonders for keeping it vibrant for a little while longer. All of Manic Panics colors are super vibrant and I love that they do not have ammonia or some of the other damaging chemicals that most other dyes have. I would definitely recommend this brand for anyone who is interested in trying out a funky new do.BulldogLover

I use to love manic panic hair dye and have dyed my hair so many times with their products. However this product dyes everything it touches and I've spent many hours removing everything it has stained in the bathroom. It has unfortunately stained my entire shower as well as my skin. It's been over a week since I've dyed my hair and the dye is still bleeding on everything. I am now researching how to remove hair dye and booking myself in to the salon to remove the colour. Unfortunately due to this terrible experience I am reluctant to buy Manic Panic again. I'm aware that Manic Panic tends to bleed more than other dyes but from using their products for almost a year, I've never experienced anything like this.Charlie_09

This was the very first time I tried manic panic of any kind, and as far as the company and product itself goes, I'm definitely going to get more! Unfortunately, however, I wish they'd properly advertise how the colors will show up on brown hair. This color shows up completely green (dark green) on my hair (which is normally identical to the dark hair on the chart). Despite what I expected, the green was more than fine by me, so I added some more to my hair. If this were the only problem, I would have left 4 stars. The nice, dark, almost metallic green color left behind only lasted about 3 days afterwards. 3 days and two washes later it was virtually all gone. I know they advise bleaching to get the best color, but if they know it won't work well on darker hair, then maybe they should stop advertising it for darker hair, or at least add honest photos of how it'll actually look rather than just photoshopping a blue layer over brown hair. If I got a different color better suited for my natural hair color, there's no doubt in my mind I would leave a 5 star review for that. The product itself was very easy, left my hair soft and undamaged, and surprisingly didn't stain as badly as I expected. So bottom line, yes, I would recommend, but ONLY if your hair is light. I received this product and was eager to trial it. There’s nothing quite like a colour touch up to make you feel a little more refreshed and energised! The product was super easy to use and everything needed was contained in one compact box. I followed the directions with ease and all progressed to plan. The end result was reasonably true to the desired colour although my hair did end up more orange than I had anticipated. I accept this can happen with hair colours because there are so many factors that contribute to the end result. The hair colour did address my primary concern – covering the dreaded greys! The smell was not offensive as can happen with some brands and I liked the fuss free application process. A major benefit is the convenience of doing this at home at a time that suits me and a cost that is budget friendly! I have had my colour now for a week and the colour at this stage is still looking fresh with great coverage. I would suggest that anyone with thick hair or very long hair should invest in two packets and not chance a dye disaster!! I have long hair but it is very thin so one packet for me was sufficient. I received this hair dye to trial as part of the Beauty Review Crew. I have used this brand of hair dye a few times over the past couple years. In particular, I have used the shade 'Darkest brown' which is the same shade I'm trialing today. The shade has always been is a lovely vibrant colour and the colour result is similar to my natural hair colour. The dye promises to 100% grey hair coverage and it lives up to its promise. Preparing the dye for application is nice and easy. After applying the gloves that are included in the packaging, you pour the colour formula into the bottle of developer before placing the lid back on and shaking the bottle until completely mixed. It's that easy! Then starting at the roots, you evenly apply the dye. The dye goes on smoothly and, surprisingly, the dye scent isn't as strong as other brands. Other brands tend to have a strong chemical smell which makes my eyes water and nose tingle when breathing it in. Clairol have done a great job at producing a hair product with a low scent. One of the best things about Clairol's nice n' easy hair dyes is the short processing times. Unlike other brands that have a processing time of upwards to an hour to reach your desired shade, these dye have an average processing time of just 25 minutes. The short processing time means you can dye your hair during your lunch break, before a night out, or before a date, without it taking up too much of your time. The rinsing process is also quite a smooth and easy process. After applying some warm water, give your hear/head a little massage and then rinse until the water runs clear from all the dye. It normally takes around two minutes for the water to run clear. Then using the conditioning Clairol conditioning treatment that comes with the hair dye, you apply from roots to tips and leave for a couple minutes before rinsing. The conditioning treatment has a lovely scent and is nice and thick. It's almost like applying a luxurious hair mask. It glides onto the hair smoothly and evenly. After rinsing the conditioning treatment you can instantly feel how hydrated you hair feels. Dying your hair often dehydrates it and your hair can feel a little worse for wear. Clairol's hair dyes are gentle on your hair and the conditioning treatment prevents damage and keeps your hair hydrated and feeling lovely. After towel-drying my hair, I blow-dried my hair until was dry. Looking in the mirror you could instantly see how vibrant and lovely the hair colour result was, and it looked and felt really healthy. I am always so very impressed with the results every time and I often get compliments from friends and family members. As my hair grows fairly quickly, I use this product every 2-3 months to help cover grey hairs. Despite dying my hair so regularly, my hair has remained healthy and manageable, and hasn't compromised my hair in any way. The only downside I can mention is that the dye stains your skin. Normally hair spray or acetone on a cotton ball or cotton pad helps remove hair dyes from skin but I found this dye to be lot stronger and barely budged from the skin. I also tried scrubbing with soap and dishwashing detergent but the dye only faded slightly. It took a few days of scubbing before the dye faded completely. The best thing of all about Clairol's Nice n' Easy hair dyes are they cost just $9 from your local supermarket. Sometimes, you can grab them on special for just $6! SIX BUCKS! Staff Review by BC's Tamara I'm not going to lie – I have greys. Lots of them. But the Clairol Nice'n Easy Permanent Hair Dye did a mighty fine job of making them disappear! I have actually used this dye in the past, and can't recommend it enough. The range of colours on offer is wonderful as there is something there for everyone. I have dull brown hair, so usually opt for a warm shade to brighten my colour – I used the Medium Chestnut Brown 5RB. The instructions are clear and easy to follow and after spending 10 mins applying the product as thoroughly as I could, it took a simple 25 minutes to penetrate before washing it out and conditioning. The colour completely covered my greys (which was my main objective), but overall my hair looks so much healthier as it is shiny and the colour has more life to it. My favourite thing about this dye is that the colour brings out the natural highlights I have and it looks really natural. Loved the name and the colour! Was all for it! the colour was absolutely beautiful in the beginning, but be aware!! Your skin and nails will be stained for days/ weeks to come every time you wash your hair. I had to use gloves, each time I washed my hair, or else I would look like princess Fiona. Lol . Even just scratching my head, or washing in the shower, by back and neck was stained. I only wash my hair about twice a week, but it still faded so quickly, after about 2 weeks blond was showing through on top, and I just didn't want to go through the staining process again, so used shampoo and baking soda, to fade it out quicker. I applied this color to very very light blonde hair (bleached — see starter photo). I left it on for maybe 40 minutes and washed it out with warm water and applied a color sealing conditioner. The color washed away immediately — but it did tone my hair and make it very light! This was kind of pretty on its own. I tried again after a couple of days and this time I left the color on for about 4 hours. I applied it and put a bag on my head and just went about my day in my house. After washing it out with COLD water and applying the conditioner the color turned out beautifully! Not sure how it will work out with longevity but I love it!ambirbler

Originally when I picked the color off the lime crime website it looked more like a tan neutral almost with subtle hints of peach close to nude color, and then when it arrived and the I swatched it – it was so far from what it looked like on the website? Hence why I usually don’t like purchasing make up mostly “lipsticks” online. However, I was extremely surprised how beautiful it was with little to no make up on and just very light mascara and lashes and how beautiful it went with my pale skin it wasn’t too dark and it wasn’t too late it’s the perfect shade for any occasion. I wouldn’t say it’s a nude color, I guess it could be placed in the nude category but I’ve found it had more hues of browns grays purples almost like a very dry it out purple with subtle and when I say subtle I mean very subtle hints of pinks and peaches and just all sorts of colors that I can’t quite point my finger on may be a little bit of a gray but mix those all together and you get this beautiful cashmere color that goes on smooth! I love that it’s a liquid lipstick aka VELVETINE matte (so I know it won’t be coming off on my teeth, clothes, drinks or even when I’m eating greasy foods – THIS HAS STAYED PUT!) I’ll even go as far as saying it lasted one very long passionate date night with my husband 🙊🙈😂 (insert blushing emoji here)  This was actually my second time purchasing this shade, and I would definitely purchase it again and again! Limecrime has great sales from time to time so make sure to look out for that! I think they’ve rebranded their website at showing the exact color on different skin tones and even have multiple lips pictured so you have a better idea how it will look, from when it was just the same pair of lips that was always pictured in every shade! I recommend any of limecrime’s liquid velvetines as they are soft on the lips and go on very smoothly.chantal .v

I would NEVER recommend this dye to anyone. It only gets a star because it smelled nice. I got Sea Witch and it has dyed every surface my hair touches that color if the strand is wet. As soon as any water hits my hair, the color just starts running everywhere. I just put a little gel in my hair so I could braid it and my scalp has turned green again and so are my hands. My hair has been falling out more than usual after using this dye and all my towels, pillow cases, every surface in my bathroom, the sink at work, they are all covered in little hair strands that turn the counter top green. It’s infuriating. I get that washing your hair means color will come out, but I’ve NEVER had any other brand wash out like this or turn every surface it touches that color. I will never be buying it again and I’m probably going to take this color out of my hair soon. I’ve dealt with this for almost 2 weeks and it’s only getting worse. I love this brand so much. I’ve used maybe five of their colors, but the jello and chocolate Cherry are my absolute favorite ones. First off, the color penetration is excellent. If anyone out there is looking for tips, try rinsing your hair with cool water every time you wash it. Keeps the color longer and stays vibrant. The smell is a plus!!! And the price isn’t bad considering you’re getting over two more ounces of color compared to Manic Panic. I’ve been doing my hair funky colors for about twenty years now, I’ve tried literally every brand out there. I even put myself through beauty school and experimented with top notch dye, yet I still come back to this brand. I love it! I’ve got jello and cherry in my hair but I’m looking forward to trying Mochi soon, I’m excited about the grey/purple/bluish look it has. My rule of thumb is go darker and enjoy the fading process. This is the FIRST (and really ONLY)hair color that I've used that isn't entirely gone and faded in a couple weeks. The irony is that when it's time to move onto a different color or I want to change it up, I have no issues getting it out! I personally prefer the shade cotton candy (and it looks intimidating in the bottle as if it would be too bright, but it's not). Okay so I usually don't do anything to my head unless it's getting done at my favorite salon girl but with quarantine I decided to take a leap of faith my god this product did not disappoint at all! It was super adorable pretty sure I paid under $7 for this tiny bottle. Yes the bottle may look tiny but it did not disappoint! It was soo pigmented better than the maniac crap that washes out almost immediately! This has had such a beautiful vibrant pink color for over a month with multiple washes! Heyyyyy… let me start by saying this dye works miracles. I had burgundy hair and I tried a specific brand of blue dye that turned my hair into a rainbow Couple weeks after I bought and adore red semi permanent dye and decided to try it in my rainbow hair. I was a bit pessimistic because the first one was a failure and I wasn’t bleaching it or anything just apply red dye Let me sayyyy!!! The result blew my mind… all my hair was bright red and beautiful. It was just even with color vibrant and everybody liked it. It didn’t stain my hair line because I used Vaseline but the results really shook mekelia.s

Ok, before you get my rant, I do want to say that Splat has THE BEST color saturation of any HAIR dye on the market. (My posted picture is just of the color stripper in the pack…because I will never buy it again lol) That being said… Splat is only good for color sat due to the fact that its composition is 99% the same thing as CARPET DYE. Please, if you want to be able to salvage the color of your hair without killing it, use a different product. It takes a butt-ton of stripper or bleach to get this crap out and you will not have much quality left in your hair to salvage. I've fixed my own hair (my one time buying Splat for myself during a color pinch) and many others hair and not once has it been anything but a nightmare. If you get Splat on bathroom tile grout… Permanently dyed. Carpet? Permanent. Cloth rugs or shower curtain? You guessed it, permanent. Rant over… Don't use Splat.chris.b

I had been using the Splat Lightening Bleach color for years, but I got a wild hair up my butt and decided to try something different. I followed the instructions to a T, and when I was done, the color was not the same as the girl’s hair on the front of the box. I looked like Bozo The Clown! Every time I got my hair wet and/or washed my hair, the red color would run out constantly, but my hair color stayed the same ugly red. (That happened for over a week.) The worst part, it completely DESTROYED my hair! It’s been over a year and I’m STILL trying to fix the damage it did. I used to have long, soft, baby fine hair. This stuff made my hair dry, brittle, and it was always breaking. I have tried so many shampoos, conditioners, masks, brushes, etc., and I’ve had to cut my hair multiple times, keeping it right above my shoulders. I’m not sure why the Lightening Bleach color never damaged my hair that bad, but the Crimson Obsession did. I DO NOT recommend this product to anyone! I wish someone had warned me before I did it. Would’ve saved me so much time, money, and grief. The only positives that came out of this horrible situation is that I learned how to mix my own hair color like the professionals do, for less than what I used to pay for the boxed colors. I bought this color for my son. We both regularly dye our hair with Manic Panic. For some reason Pillarbox red has been an absolute nightmare. It is constantly bleeding on EVERYTHING. His hoodie, bedding, pillows, shirts, my bed, seat on his bus, my car seat, my stainless steel sink, etc are all red. I would give 1 star of I didn't know and love manic panic. I have been using it for 30 years! I washed his hair 5x 2 days in a row for a total of 10 times and it is still happening. I am losing my mind. All his clothes are getting ruined. I purchased silver stiletto. I already have blonde hair but bleached it awhile back. Grew my roots out and recently rebleached those and then cleansed my hair with shampoo and no conditioner. After fully drying I used the whole bottle on my hair and it was thoroughly saturated, even rubbed it in to make sure. Covered it as instructed for thirty minutes and NOTHING! Two big light blue blotches near the ends of my hair and nothing else. Vast Majority of my hair didn't take the color. At minimum usually my hair will pick up color and keep it going for a few washes. This product is Not even worth a dollar. Don't buy this.Coralcrumbs

I bought one bottle each of Rockabilly Blue and Vampire Red. I was going for a dark reddish purple. Mixed about 3/4 red and 1/4 blue. Applied, let sit for an hour. Despite the fact that I used only 1/4 of the blue in my mix it was what stained my hands (through the gloves!), sink (where I washed the mixing bowl) and my whole shower…I was shocked but honestly I don't care much about it being stained so I shrugged and on we go. Just a bit unfortunate that my whole shower floor is blue and my porcelain sink is as well. The color however turned out beautiful. I dyed over my natural dark brown hair and it made it slightly darker but a lovely rich purple/red. Exactly what I wanted. It does bleed really badly and will stain any white/light towels, sheets, hair bands/etc you might have. Now here's where something weird comes in…since I dyed it a week ago, every day I get my hair wet in the shower it smells AWFUL. Like, I immediately thought it smelled like a Porta-John. I even asked my husband the last few days to smell my wet hair and confirm that's what is smelling so bad and yes, it's my hair! It's so strange. I tried googling to see if anyone else has had the same problem but couldn't find anything so maybe it's just me? I'm giving it three stars because my hair looks and feels great, but I'll probably never use it again due to the excessive staining/bleeding and the weird smell.Alex

I’m trying to grow out my highlights & “embrace the grey” but have a bit of fun with temporary colour while I do so. I bought this product after a lot of internet research. Did my patch test, this is a “natural” product, no ammonia, parabens etc so was hopeful. All ok & did a couple of strand tests too. Ready to go! PLEASE make sure you wear gloves, mask around your face, ears & neck with a barrier cream, rinse hair out over a sink or bath. DON’T shower it off over your body! You will look like a Smurf! I wanted to temporarily colour my hair for the start of the football (soccer) season. I left the blue on for about 2 and a half hours & the purple & pink for about an hour and a half. I wrapped my head in cling film in case it dripped, it’s a nice thick gel, so I don’t think it would but better safe that sorry. It smells fruity so no stinky head while you wait. I loved the result! My hair felt soft & moisturised, still does. I knew the blue wouldn’t last as long, red tones grip better, so after 2 weeks & 13 double shampoo washes, the blue has almost gone but the pink & purple is going strong. I still get purple hands while showering but no skin transfer so all good. I forgot to take a before so the first photo is after the strand test but you can kind of see my highlighted, grey & mousey “before” hair. Second & third photos are a day after colouring. Fourth & fifth is to show how the pink & purple have washed out & the blue is almost gone after a lot of washes. If you want a longer lasting semi permanent colour, I would highly recommend this product! I’m only trying to wash it out as I’m visiting my parents in a few weeks & mum will tell me off!! 😉 (I’m 53!! & still scared)iHerb Customer

Love this product!! Used for over 10 yrs now. Use Vaseline around ears and edges of face to keep stains off skin. Nail polish remover will do the rest. I have black hair and it will only show on porous strands such as bleached or blonde – otherwise it has no where to go and will stain things as it comes off. What I love is that it DOES stain which means as it fades out you still have color stained hair until it fades to a more pastel color. Keeps from having to do all the time. I use gloves to apply liberally. Smells delicious! I then wrap in a cap (plastic bag will work, too) and let it stay on as long as I can- note that this method almost blends into my black hair until a first couple washes. Also note that I would lay a towel over my pillow until the first couple washes. Also, note that I use a special towel for drying bc color will come off the wet hair. Also note that I don't wear white or swim until after the first couple of washes. It's a stronger look than a salon color and lasts a VERY long time. So, if you want a fun color for the weekend, choose something else as it really is semi-permanent and doesn't just wash away from bleached or blonde hair. Hope this helps!CrazyHair Bae

I’ve been using Punky Colors since they were originally called ‘Jerome Russell Punky Colours’. I am a professional hairstylist and I love these non-pro colors for solid colors. Cherry on Top is the perfect bright warm red. It’s bright, it’s true to shade, and there isn’t a hint of cold undertone. That’s why I prefer to use Cherry On Top paired up with the diluting clear to create my pastel pinks in warmer colors than the actual Pink Flamingo or Pastel line. It lasts longer and looks like bubblegum. Yes, this color bleeds. A lot. It is a high concentrate of pigment which helps it last longer on bleached hair and coat non-bleached hair. My suggestion to a lot of you is to get a black towel and black pillowcase so you won’t ruin anything! Always wear gloves. And just rinse it the best you can before adding any shampoo. Shampoo is what makes the color spread all over the tub and stain it. Even if you do stain the tub, most porcelain tubs it will wear off. Porous plastic tubs you can get the foaming bleach cleaning spray from any store, spray it and let it set a while, it’ll lessen the red stains. Good luck!Cotton candy Cherry

Super easy to use, you have got to try this! Use on pre-lightened hair for processing. This formula does not mix with developer which makes it even more convenient to use! Literally, just apply to the hair (generously) and let it process. Make sure sections are fully saturated with product. Let process 25-45 min and voila! I got this color after a good talk with a rep @ Salon Centric, I wanted a cute color but not too distracting bc of work. She picked this purple for me but I never committed till recently! I got a more blunt mullet and I figured I deff need a color to match the edge and this was insanely pigmented 😻 so glad this was the color she recommended bc it wasn’t muted but also not a neon green scary color. I was scared it would be more dark but did it anyway and it wasn’t at all it was a super saturated purple …a blueish purple for sure. I went to the beach and it of course took most of the color out BUT it faded nicely and I had about 4 shampoos of decent color after that beach trip! So it deff has lasting power I left it in my hair for an hour – as it faded it became more of a lilac pastel purple 🥰🥰vanessa.z

For a back story I am a natural sandy brown and my hair is in a mohawk currently. So I purchased the iroiro neon blue and first I did a bleach kit as I mention darker natural hair as I wanted to get the full effects of the neon. So bleached first then onto the color. I applied the color and left it on for 45 minutes so that i would get the bright vibrant blue i wanted. 45 minutes later i wash dye out under cold water as warm will fade it, didnt want that. However I have been dying hair for 20+years so I'm experienced and know what I'm doing. I am almost a week out and I literally look like I used one of the 1q 0 washes dye because I havent washed it yet but it looks as if I've pretty much combed it right out. This is by far the worst hairdye I have ever used. I've used numerous brands and numerous different colors and I will never purchase this brand again. Ive used multiple Iroiro colors by now (Plum, Pink, Yellow, and one of the blue colors) and I love them. The smell is FANTASTIC, my hair feels great, and the price is worth it. The pouches are so convenient and much easier than having to shake the last bits of dye in a squeeze bottle (aka Arctic Fox). Also the colors, especially pink, last a good while and fade nicely. I just used a mix of plum, pink and yellow on dyed brown hair for a nice color tiny and it looks beautiful in the sun. Definitely recommend. Also cruelty free and thats always important!rebekah.a

This product worked wonderfully. I used L’Oreal colorista for brunettes to make a conditioner to put on my hair first. This is a true burgundy plum on medium brunettes. It came out so red I was impressed. Not that messy imo. My only regret is that this color looks better when I’m pale in winter. Can’t wait to tone it with a true violet. So far Amika violet toning drops are helping make it a bit less extreme. Great color payoff, environmentally friendly packaging, minimal damage. I did not put conditioner underneath to open my cuticle for scalp oil. Great technique for oily scalps. Love. Bought this from Sally’s it was affordable. Easy to stretch too.sheri .h

Box Dye is usually a hit or miss for me, but this dye honestly is one of the better ones I’ve tried. The dye itself did not smell bad and the steps were simple enough for anyone.to understand. It didn’t stain which is a huge bonus. It didn’t completely color my hair evenly, but that’s more due to my hair already being different shades/colors. The color turned out more vibant than I expected. A week later, the color has faded a little but that’s usually what happens to me with hair dyes. However, The color still looks pretty (especially in the sun). I will consider this brand in the future when dyeing my hair. Do I recommend? Yes. Some box dyes hate my hair but if this works well on my hair, there’s a good chance it will work well on yours too. I’ve dyed my hair at least a dozen times, but it’s been a while. I used Féria’s Coral Pink in March without issue, so I thought blue hair sounded fun and picked up Féria’s M10 Cosmic Azure. I’m not going to knock off any stars for the dye being more dark blueberry on my hair, rather than the more purple blue on the box, because I had previous dye on my hair. But I will dock it all the points for the terrible formula. It came with a scent ampoule, but that didn’t help. The dye made my eyes water profusely and my husband even commented on it. The dye dripped everywhere in my shower. I was able to clean the tile with bleach and CLR Mold and Mildew, but some of the grout is still blue. While it was incredibly drippy, it didn’t penetrate hair well at all. I used almost the entire bottle of dye, rubbing it into my hair for 10-15 minutes, then waited another 10-15 while I cleaned blue hair dye out of the shower, and I still have areas where my hair is still brown/coral pink. I would repeatedly work the dye into my hair and could see it wasn’t penetrating like you’d expect the dye formula to do. I do NOT recommend this dye and am now thinking about a nice, boring dark brown next, maybe not from Féria’s line.dia.s

I’ve been using this brand’s dye starting from their R48 to V38 (this dye) and it’s been maybe a year or so? When I used the R48 color it was more red and that was the first time trying out a maroonish-plum color and I immediately became addicted. It lasted a good few months and would’ve lasted probably more if I didn’t get impatient and dye it again lmao my hair dye addiction got out of hand. I’ll say the more often you dye your hair a red-purple color the faster it’ll wash out. I know nothing is permanent but for me this washed out a bit faster than I imagined for a permanent hair dye. That’s okay tho because I dye my hair rather often and it’s fun. When I dye my hair with this dye it fades into an auburn, reddish orange color and my natural hair is dark brown. You may have to retouch up your roots once every month and a half or so because that’s the fastest thing to wash out. When dying your hair with this it smells super strong like chemicals and can make your nose and even your eyes burn if the fumes get too close to your face? And it takes a while to wash out but the shampoo smells super good that it comes with and the color always comes out nice and vibrant. 🙂 I’ll be buying it again probably since it’s sold in all stores near me but if I used another brand like arctic fox or something I’m sure I could get similar results.wee

I didn't approve or ask for this shade! I got starry black. I'm a natural blonde. In order for me to achieve black hair that doesn't turn green after the 1st wash,I would have to do a filler color first like a medium brown. I don't want to put all those chemicals on my hair. Plus I don't want black hair! I DID NOT USE THIS! I have used feria in the past though, I have used their bleaching kit and their auburn, red and black cherry shades. It is the only box dye I will use. It not only has an essential oil you add to it for a better smell but it also helps the hair feel softer and more hydrated as well as look shiny and healthy, well as healthy as dyed hair can look. For a box dye it's not bad. If I had gotten a color I approved of I totally would have used it! My daughter has medium golden brown hair and has been debating allowing me to use this on her. Pleasantly surprised with how well this lightened my hair! I had a little accident with a light brown color that left my hair dark brown! I'm talking reallyI'm talking really dark! So I tried another product to lighten it up a little bit which turned it into an orange color! So I picked this up just to give it a shot and see what I thought about it hoping that it might lighten the decade or two and I'm really happy with the results. I did do a toner on it as well Just to make sure there was no brassiness. Will definitely buy this again!sasha.a

Smells amazing and is easy to apply. Unfortunately that's where the good in my review ends. I bought the Magic Salem and pastel Iris colors and honestly? I wasn't impressed. They don't last (pastel Iris has only lasted one wash, Magic Salem – which was quoted to last 3 weeks – only lasted 3.) Not to mention, Magic Salem is their purple, but it came out blue rather than purple. And to make matters worse, the dyes faded super poorly? It looked awful.

I love Lunar Tides. The salon I go to for my highlights use this product. I also purchase this as a consumer for at home use in between salon visits. The dyes are super vibrant. A big plus is that Lunar Tides are vegan and cruelty free. I like mixing colors to make different shades. These are semi-permanent so they will wash out. I recommend washing your hair with cold water and use Watercolor Shampoo for whatever color your hair is. Lunar Tides ships their product relatively fast too and normally include a discount on next purchase.racheal.w

I bought 4 dyes from Lunar Tides: Juniper Green, Aurora Green, Pastel Iris, and their toner. the toner worked great, I loved it! however the dyes are absolutely terrible. I read so many reviews before buying from them and the only “bad” thing I could find was that it was runny and messy. the hair dye I received is almost a gel consistency, not runny at all. my hair was platinum blonde before I dyed it with juniper green. it is very dark in the container, but bright green on the hair; this was my first red flag. I kept hoping it would be darker when I washed it out but obviously it was lighter. my hair was joker green. I figured this was my fault for toning my hair and thought maybe that could be the issue. however, I also dyed part of my hair with the Pastel Iris. in the container, it looks like a darker purple (the shade you think of when I say purple) so I assumed it would be darker than I expected; it was not. it went on the hair very light, looked very similar to the toner. after I rinsed it out (with cold water as you should) the color was BARELY there. it looked like I left toner on for a little too long. again, I figured this was my fault for ordering a pastel dye. HOWEVER, I just washed my hair for the first time since dying it (it has been exactly ONE week) and the color is completely gone. the part that was dyed purple has absolutely no color in it. this was after ONE WASH. there is absolutely no reason for my hair to be blonde right now. I had to purchase a completely different dye to cover up the horrid snot green and now I have to re-dye the part that is purple EVERY TIME I want to wash my hair??? an absolute waste of money and time. should not be sold as semi-permanentzoe hintze

I purchased Insert Color Here because my elementary age children wanted to dye their hair. I didn't want to use something that would be permanent or really damaging. One has dirty blonde hair and the other medium brown hair, so I wasn't sure how well it would work. The Amethyst Insert Color Here took to their hair very well. My dirty blonde son ended up with a very bright almost "anime" purple hair. My medium brown son came out with a plum color. Both looked really nice. Their hair after dyeing was soft, and there wasn't any awful odors while dyeing. The color faded quicker from my son's medium brown hair than the dirty blonde, but it still still lasted a month and half. My son's dirty blonde hair first faded into an interesting silver color which he also enjoyed, that lingered until about two-ish months out. Now! As much as I have high praises for this stuff, I also purchased the Ruby and Emerald and my kids want to try those colors. However, we are now 4 months since dyeing their hair and my tub still has a purple hue. Despite scrubbing, allowing super hot water to just sit (which lifted the color more than anything), bleach and other chemicals (not at the same time!). So, I am hesitant to use the other colors because I don't know how to not stain my tub again.DazedFlamingo

I love having blue hair so I was really excited to get my hands and hair on this. my only downside is that it does turn my natural honey coloured roots near black, and the scent isnt…amazing. (it is a bit chemically, in comparison to the "typical" semiperm colour super sweet smell) BUT the colour is absolutely beautiful and vibrant and multi dimensional! It does fade to a more greenish tint but that's fine with me. i mixed grumpy bear and royal sapphire and I love it! I’ve been wanting to dye my hair red for years but never followed through with it. But, when I came across this product, I thought “why not?”. I had a balayage prior to the pandemic so still had blonde in my hair & applying this color turned out amazing! It looked beautiful in all kinds of lighting too. I received so many compliments! Just as mentioned, it will wash out after quite a bit of showers! Even as it’s fading away, still loving the color. It was also super easy to apply as it comes with instructions. I bought this on a whim thinking it wouldn't work on my hair, but it works so well! I have light brown hair (the hair colour that happens when you have rlly blonde hair as a kid and then it turns light brown when you are older) and this colour stuck to my hair so well! It was a darker pink that looked so good! I've washed my hair about 6 times now and there is still colour in my hair that is quite visible. I'd definitely recommend this dye over any of the other pink ones for people with darker hair! I've tried the other light colourista one and manic panic and this one is 1000000x better! Just beware if you use it, it will stay in your hair for quite some time!Anna

Does it say semi-permanent? Yes. But… it’s going to add pigment to the hair, therefore some colors will last longer than others… as most greens/blues, those will often last the longest and be harder to remove especially from blonder hair. Purple seems to be the quickest to be washed out and completely gone. The denim blue one definitely lasted the longest and faded into a light green and was only removed after I dyed my hair pink (color cancellation, people) I’ve used this product and most colors very often, it’s not damaging on my hair and my hair is very damaged from bleaching and using heat. I highly recommend this as it’s easy to apply, cheap and usually has great results.Abigail M

Fantastic application color for the hot pink. I was doing this as a test to see if pink was going to look nice with my skin tone before purchasing manic panic…. Color look amazing the first couple of washes. Now, I have half of my hair a rose gold pastel and have still just as vibrant as the initial application. I'm not sure what happened here as this is not something I have experienced before. I was planning on taking temporary with a grain of salt since hair dye is not a one size fits all. I did bleach my hair before application, but that was an all over bleach. All in all, it isn't bad but nowhere near what I expected nor is it uniform. I was hoping to try the blue as well before diving completely into pink but alas, I do not think that will be happening.cokoscorpio

It seems like every time you change the style of the Box, the formula changes. I have been using natural instinct for well over 10 years and I really like it, but it's getting harder to find the right color to use. I just. I just used Light golden Brown and now my hair is the medium to dark Brown it was when I was a teenager! Normally I would just color my roots, my hair on top of my head was almost blonde because of the gray underneath. But today, it is very obvious that I just colored my hair because it's not the same color at all. I will continue to use the product because it does a good job of covering the Gray. I have been using this brand haircolor for years, trying different shades. I recently went through chemo therapy and lost all my hair. Since it’s grown back in its come in with a lot of grey. I have naturally medium brown hair. It is in excellent condition and thought I would color it with this new formula. So many reviews state the new formula is not as good as the old, I love the new formula. No burning on application, no hot roots, more even coverage. Many reviews also stated that the sheets are much darker than reflected on the box. For this reason I purchased suede light brown. It is so dark! Thankfully I don’t mind dark hair on myself. This is the only negative. My hair feels so soft and fluffy. And it was great at covering my greys! I will definitely purchase again. I used to color my hair with Clairol Natural Instincts about 10 years ago and never had an issue. With a special event coming up I decided to freshen my hair up with some color. Upon reading the instructions it seemed as if the product had improved since I last used it. I bought two packages, but one bottle covered my shoulder-length hair just fine. However, after applying and rinsing out the product as instructed, I noticed that my hair didn't feel very good. Back in the day it used to leave my hair super silky and soft, like a model in a shampoo commercial. But the real horror happened after I dried my hair and realized that the color I got was NOT the color on the box! I selected #4 dark brown to get a Hersheys dark chocolate color. Instead my hair came out looking like kona coffee grounds in water (aka, almost black). It looks completely unnatural and now I'm trying to desperately get it to wash out early. (In the shower for the first wash since coloring, my hair felt like even more of a bird's nest than when I rinsed the dye out. Bleh!) I have now sworn off hair dye for the rest of my life. Hopefully by the time I get to the special event this weekend some of it will have washed out.Amanda

will say that I don't know if I saw any healing benefits, but I've also upgraded my hair routine a lot recently so that could be why! But on to the color part… it's absolutely amazing. I bought 2 containers because of the BOGO sale, but also because I have hair that goes below my waist so I assumed I'd need that much due to experiences with other brands. Alas, I was wrong. I barely used 1/4 of one of the containers to do my whole head! To be fair, I have brown hair with a bleached streak that was a patchy purple because the last dye I used washed out in some parts but not others (plus a past split dye that caused one half of the ends of my hair to be a light brown while the other is darker), so perhaps that could be why. I applied a pretty good amount to my whole head but especially my bleached area and so a little goes on a long way! It added a red tinge to my dark brown (mahogany vibes), turned the light brown to a pretty dark red, and the bleached streak is a bright red that looks beautiful. You can't even tell that it had purple in it before. I've gotten many compliments and people can't believe it's something I did at home!Macey

Dude, this is the BEST semi permanent hair color I have ever used. In 2018, I suddenly became allergic to regular dyes (PPD and some other unknown ingredients), and was unable to use traditional dye methods. When I say allergy, I mean SEVERE reaction… swollen head, eyes, lymph nodes in my neck. Needed emergency care for the reaction. Luckily for me, I don't have an allergy to bleach (probably because there's no pigment) and was relying on the only coloring agent I didn't have an allergy to, OverTone (I tried Arctic Fox, Manic Panic, and even Henna to no avail). I saw Brad came out with his own color and wanted to give it a try. I am happy to say that I have had ZERO allergic reaction to it and the color deposits so much more beautifully than my previously used products. Minimal bleeding when rinsing as well! Super happy. I love you guys. Thank you! PS don't mind my roots. I'm giving my natural growth a break lol.Madison

I wanted to love this hair dye so much, but sadly it just didn't work for me. Based on the reviews of others, I'm guessing it has something to do with my hair..?? Anyway, here are the problems I had: 1. Despite Brad's claims, one pot was not enough for my whole head. I don't have crazy hair. It's curly, barely below my shoulders, normal thickness normal density. I got 3/4 of my head dyed before it ran out. 2. Something about the product made my hair feel almost gummy… even when dry.. weeks later. It threw off my curl pattern and my hair was not greasy but something was off. I could tell it was the product because the top 1/4 didn't get dyed so I had a good comparison haha. My hair has gone back to normal now but I had a month of bad hair days which sucked. 3. Since I ran out of product, I ordered a second pot the day I dyed my hair. By the time the second pot arrived a few days later, (never shampooed, only rinsed with water) the majority of my pink had rinsed out. 4. While parts washed out so fast, I'm left a month later with the weirdest splotches of pink throughout my hair. Like two spots above my ears… so odd. If you've used color like this before and you know it works, I bet this product is great! I wouldn't recommend it if you are new to dying your own hair or if you have natural curls.Abbey
