I have 2C, high density, coarse, porous, long hair. Since adding heavy highlights to blend the grays, my hair has been a dry, frizzy nightmare! I have read endless product reviews, watched countless You Tube Videos regarding care and products for my hair. I have purchased so many products that it is insane, and none fully managed to clump my curls/waves and provide humidity protection.
I use a leave in conditioner applied in the shower to soaking wet hair. I then use a curl primer. I scrunch these products into hair and micro plop to remove excess water. I then apply curl keeper just like gel, using praying hands method to coat each curl. I add more to the crown and smooth over waves. I then plop for 10-30 minutes depending on if I’m air drying or diffusing.
I actually prefer to air dry and this product allows that, though it takes hours to dry. Can form a slight cast which I actually love. Once fully dry any crunch is easily scrunched out. I NEVER have shine in my hair due to the coarse texture but with this my curls are defined and shiny. Best part is that even in high humidity this holds perfectly.
I cannot speak to 2nd or 3rd day hair as I haven’t been able to test this part yet.

The main issue with this product is that the wand that slicks your hair down so nice, can't be lifted off your hair without grabbing them and pulling them up. So the top baby hairs get slicked, then an inch or two down your head when you try to lift the brush away it's pulling your hairs up, creating frizz. I really wanted to like this product, but it's quite a hassle to try to use, and I have to end up using another product to lay down the hairs this pulled up. I would not buy this again. I do have somewhat curly hair, so maybe this would work better for someone with stick straight hair. I'm not sure.Mandy

When I found quick slick, I was amazed at how well the product worked. One application and my hair was immediately smoother. One of the things I love about this product, is that the solution is clear, and isn’t thick or greasy. Once applied, your hair will remain smooth for a few hours before any touch ups are needed, and there is not any noticeable residue. i really wanted to love this but it just doesn't work that well for me. my baby hairs are loonggg and this doesn't slick them back all the way. it slicks back like the first part and then the longer end of the hair looks super weird and sticks out near my the base of the ponytail. but it does work to slick back the first part so maybe try it out if you think it could work for you. hairspray works better for menicole b.

There are two main claims that this product makes: 1. That is elongates curls. ✅ It does that. 2. "Frizz-Free" ❌ Big Fat Nope. As a connoisseur of curl-friendly products, I've come to expect a certain standard as far as frizz-taming claims go, and this does not hit the mark whatsoever. Other reviews state that they got great hold from this gel, and that just wasn't my experience at all. It basically disappears in my hair and I'm left dry & frizzy. When I saw this product, I thought I would give it a try. I normally use a mousse to help define my curls, but I'm always looking for something new or better to use. This product smelled great, and had some eye-grabbing text like "Frizz Free" and "Elongating" – I don't know if I misinterpreted the text, or if I was just too hopeful. Unfortunately, this product was way too sticky to even be able to run the product through my hair to try and even it out. After one application, I had to rewash my hair because it did not want to comply at all. It felt extremely heavy on my hair as well, which is the opposite of what I wanted. The smell was great – this product just did not work my hair type, and I didn't like the feel. I'm sure it would be great for someone else though! Just because it didn't work for me, doesn't mean it won't for others. The benefits, if correct on the label, would be great! I recently ordered Maui Moisture Frizz Free + Shea Butter Elongating Gel. This gel comes in a soft plastic container that is easy to squeeze for dispensing the hair gel. This variety came in a pretty violet container with a gold flip open lid. It contains 283 GE (10oz) of gel. The container has beautiful graphics with product information. The gel is clear and slick in texture. This gel is vegan friendly as well as paraben and silicone free. It’s made with 100% aloe vera. It also contains shea butter, coconut oil and macadamia oil. This combination helps better form curls and reduce frizz. It has a wonderful nutty and coconut aroma. I took a shower and got my hair clean and conditioned. After combing the tangles out, I towel tried till it was just barely damp then applied the gel to sections of my hair working it in as I moved to each section. I let it air dry the rest of the way. My curls were soft, well formed and I was impressed with how the gel reduced the amount of frizz I normally have after my hair is dry. I can still smell the gel on my hair and its amazing!HoneyB3037

I have fine, oily hair and this conditioner is so lightweight. The scent is a light apple but not overpowering and I can't barely smell it after my hair is dry. The only thing I have noticed is that it doesn't seem to give my hair body. Although I'm not disappointed about that because mostly bought it knowing the formula would be lightweight. Regardless of how lightweight any conditioner is, my hair tends to hold onto any product so I don't use this everyday. I still recommend this.Zondagirl

My husband just bought this product probably a few days ago so my review will not be like 100% but I wanted to go ahead and go with mine and his thoughts on it so far. The price is decent in the size is good to have with you on the go. You can carry it in your vehicle with you and apply it whenever you need it. So that's a bonus. So far it works pretty good. He's happy with it so far. But I think he's going to want something a little different I don't think it's exactly what he wanted but it isn't really good gel that has a pretty good firm hold. I have been anxiously waiting for this conditioner to come back. When I called, I was told it was supply-chain issues on some of the botanical ingredients, but that the Spring Loaded Conditioner would return. In the meantime, I tried several new products, and, my curly hair was never as nice as when I used JPM's Spring Loaded Conditioner. I had written in the past that I wouldn't stray, but, the unavailability caused me to try, and, I am so glad the wait is over. I am pretty brand loyal when it comes to my haircare, but every now and again if a product is amazing enough from another line , I will cheat on my usual and dip into the other line for that product. This is one of them The Moroccan Oil Treatment oil, which I feel is their most popular product that lead the way for this brand I think lol yes it is expensive, yes I get it cheaper because I am a liscenced professional lol but, when it comes to these higher end hair products , usually,you get what you pay for. It is worth the expensive price tag. The bottle is on the small side but a little goes a LONG way unless you want to look like you stuck your hair in some grease than by all means lol but seriously a tiny bit, rub in your palms and rub jtno your hair , focusing on the ends and midshaft scalp will just make u oily I have naturally curly hair that is prone to dryness, it gets frizzy , its thick. I use the regular Moroccan oil treatment but there is also a light for those with finer hair , more oily , sleek type ,thinner hair that this regular one might be a little heavy for. I also apply this to dry hairz over my midshaft and ends when I feel they could use a little TLC . If theyre looking a little dry maybe just a little bit of this run through it and it will make your hair feel all soft and loveable again. I like the smell, it isnt anything strong or overpowering. This is the only hair product I do use from Moroccan oil, I am sure they do have other good products but at that price point and already being happy with my current hair care routine, Ive never felt the need to try them and I feel that this product here is their Holy Grail so to speak, like the 1 amazing stand out product where they are at the top of their game. I really love using this stuff. I have for years. My original favorite was Chi Silk Infusions and I still like that stuff but I feel this does the job better. So basically youd use something like this for heat and uv protection as well as moisture and shine. Mostly I use it for getting some moisture back in my really parched, heat abused hair for a nice, healthy and naturally shiny look. Using products like that can go wrong really fast. You can cross the line into greasy mess from shiny tresses quick. You can do that with this too if you use too much but a lot of products do that no matter how little you use. This lasts forever because even with the thickest and driest hair needs only a dime size or less warmed between the palms and lightly rubbed through every layer from root to ends with finger tips open to get every strand focusing on the ends. Ive noticed that it gives me life back to my hair. It gives me that naturally healthy movement you just dont get with fried hair. With this and changing my hair habits I have come almost all the way back from totally broken hair to healthy hair thats a little dry and has split ends. And with my current issues it makes it look like I have none. Especially when I flat iron my hair with this as a heat protectant it almost seals the cuticle completely and keeps my hair looking super healthy until my next wash. I also use it randomly to add a touch of moisture back into my hair if its really dry. Or if my ends are getting bad between trims I use this and flat iron them to seal them and make them look healthy temporarily. It also smells amazing. I love the comforting and unique almost but not quite tropical scent. Its very unique and very feminine without being like a perfume. It makes my hair smell fresh and pretty and that scent lasts for a couple days. Overall it is a little expensive but it lasts a long time so it ends up costing almost the same as the drugstore over time because if does last so long. Its just more of an initial investment. A sephora employee told me this stuff actually is bad for your hair and dries it out but I dont think it would have gotten so famous if it wasnt so great for so many people. Maybe she just had a bad experience. It wouldnt have been the first time I had been given bad information by a Sephora employee but I just thought Id mention it. I totally recommend. But only buy from authorized retailers like salons or stores like sephora, macys, and other high end retailers or it will most likely be a fake.Anonymous

Lets just say, I love Morrocanoil and have for years the product has always been consistently the same until I tried the bottle from this seller.This does not smell or feel like MoroccanoilI love my normal Morrocanoil because its Lux, silky smooth and has a specific color and wonderful smell. This product was not any of those things it was tacky it stuck to my hands and didnt glide through my hair and made my hair feel rough. It had a nice smell but not the Moroccanoil scent.I still have some Moroccanoil from my last bottle and even the color is different.This new product is not good. Not sure if I just got an off bottle or what has happened.I read over the label and it said nothing about a new formula. All I can say is this is not the signature Morrocanoil and its not a good product. It feels like castoroil.I liked the price and thats why I ordered from this seller but next time I will just pay full price at the salon because I know what Im getting.It even wasnt in its signature box or had the same colored label so that makes me more curious.I couldnt find a way to contact the seller I went to the reorder page and the sellers name was different then this one. I struggled with definition and really had to look for a product that defined my curls. I was buying pricey product thinking that it would define my curls but eventually I found out I could save money!! I love mixing this gel with leave in conditioner as another reviewer mentioned. I rake though shea moisture’s curl smoothie and follow up with this product. I end up diffusing my hair after. Do not sleep on this product!! It is affordable and helps bring the definition I wanted. Don’t Shrink is a CGM approved protein gel with olive oil, shea butters, and glycerin. Flax seed really helps my hair retain its curl shape, the large jar helped me explore different styling techniques to see what works best with my hair and the price helped me feel better about re-styling failed experiment days vs conserving pricy product; which let’s face it, there’s a lot of fails in the beginning for curlies lol. I tried it out with super long hair and also with a long bob reset chop and both had consistent results. I achieved really great definition with a hard hold, I still had frizz but I also know this is most likely user error since I’m always improving my routines. I clarify every wash so I’m not one to comment on build up. I really wanted to love it, but I found out mid tub that I prefer shrinkage while I train my curl type. Like many wash and go naturalistas who rock the teeny weeny fro, I have gone through a lot of products trying to find that ONE which does what I need. I have finally found Aunt Jackies and I'm thrilled. It is the holy grail! I have moisturized curls that pop, no dryness or flakiness, and the curls last for DAYS with minimal fuss. For daily maintenance, I just fill a spray bottle with water, jojoba oil and Aunt Jackies leave-in and spritz that mixture to refresh my curls. I am so happy that I decided to try this brand! I use this in combination with the moisturizing cream. As the instructions say, I apply the moisturizing cream and then go over my hair with the light hold gel. Once I'm out of the shower, I'll go over any missed spots and finger curl with a small about of the gel. A little goes a long way on the gel. I learned that the first day, as my hair had a little bit of crunch to it. Once I figured out the right amount to use, it was smooth sailing.Nadia

I have heat damaged hair as you can see from the color on down. I’m still learning how to care for my natural curls and this product worked great. On wet hair the ginger smell is strong and the hair (damaged parts) were crunchy. My roots were nice and soft. My favorite this about this gel is how soft it makes my hair. It's very hydrating and conditioning to the hair, every time I use this my curls are very soft and bouncy. I have mixed it with several other leave in conditioners and creams, both from the same brand and from other brands, and I have found it mixes well with a few different products. It doesn't mix with everything, test it in your hands first, but I found a few good combos with this gel. It also gives my hair good shine, I really loved that. My wash n go's always lasted a few days with this gel. I wish it had a little more hold, I'd say this is like medium hold. It didn't give a strong cast, which may or may not be a good thing depending on your preference. Even without strong hold, it's still a great and dependable gel. i love layering this gel on top of innersense i create hold, which is my second topper gel. this ouidad gel pretty much seals and sets my style. the texture is slimy not sticky and creates amazing slip. it has anti humidity ingredients so i would say it does it great job keeping freeze at bay. unless you’re super active (like me lol) then expect your curls to not last too long. overall i would recommend this product! for reference i have 4b tight curls, coarser textures around the nape of my hair.curlyblackgirl

I have tried so many gels from lower price points to high end. I have 2C-3B curls, low porosity and regular porosity strands, shoulder length, and curly bangs. Lots of layers in my hair with the shortest being 2” on top. I particularly love this gel because of its runny consistency, which makes it super easy to glaze and rake through the hair. On top of average 80%+ humidity in summer, I work a job that often causes me to sweat. This gel holds up. I can get away with washing my hair once a week. When I need a refresh, I either simply add water which reactivates the gel or, around mid-week, dampen hair and add more gel. The cast created is buildable – less gel = softer curls with little cast, more gel = stronger cast. I prefer a stronger cast with this product, so I use a dollar coin sized amount THREE times on each side of my hair, working in sections. I say this because some people think this gel doesn’t make a cast, but maybe they aren’t using enough product. It is an expensive gel, but worth every penny for me.cassandra.m

I heard hundreds of recommendations for this gel when I started embracing my natural 2B-3A medium porosity hair. I bought it without question, and even ordered a second bottle (the huge one, too) after the first ran out. I thought the dryness/straw texture my hair got after application was just par for the course with gels since it was my first time ever touching gel. As I learned more about humectants and other ingredients in hair products, I realized that the high glycerin content in this gel is the culprit behind my frizzy locks. Doesn't matter how much or how little gel I put in, my hair frizzes and knots as soon as it's 50% dry and it gets exponentially worse if I apply any while refreshing. For anyone reading: if you live somewhere that's very dry or very humid, avoid humectants like glycerin in the first few ingredients (or at all). Humectants draw moisture from their surroundings, but if the air is dry as bone (like it is where I live), it's going to pull that moisture from your hair (and skin if it's in skin care products) and make it extremely dry. If the air is extremely humid, your hair will feel squishy and icky (and skin will feel oily) if you use products with glycerin in them. All that being said, this is a great gel. It's liquid so it coats hair easily and I never had any problems with it flaking. Its glycerin content is just not right for my environment. If you live in a moderately humid place, this will probably be a fantastic gel for you!Amber

ive always been a mousse chick, and ive been loyal to a certain brand for over 20 yrs, however for some reason they decided to stop making my brand. Now with that being said i purchased this just to try it out. Im not your regular type hair gal ive got thick naturally curly hair, thats never been permently colored. im very picky about the chemicals i out in my hair. It took me yrs to fined my hair products each one being picked very carefully because i care how my hair looks feels and smells. i cannot find a gel that beats this. gels over $10, $15, $25 don’t even compare. great cast and you can easily control how much hold you get by adjusting the amount of product you use. it is a strong hold gel but somehow hydrating. aloe in particular is an excellent ingredient for my hair and most other curlies. smells good but not overly scented. i also used it for an elegant slicked back bun look and it held it place all day and gave a nice shine. refreshes easily the next day with water (i use a continuous spray bottle). easily spreadable; very affordable; available most places i like to shop. i like the squeeze tube instead of the jar many other brands have for this type of product. i recommend this product to everyone!izzy.n

I'm a male with fairly long hair due to the pandemic, and I have waves. I've been using various men's and unisex superhold gels to get my hair to stay back and out of my face. Decided to give this one a try. First thing, I love the smell. Most men's hair gels have no smell, so this was a pleasant surprise. I got out of the shower and after towel drying my hair, I combed it back and applied a reasonable amount of Aussie Instant Freeze. And now 90 minutes later, my hair is still holding. So this by itself will not work alone . I suggest adding other John Frieda curl products with it. It does not cut it on its own. But I have tried my other products without it and it definitely ads some definition that it is actually a must to have. Now word of caution use this after using a hair oil while your hair is wet. The John Fredia gel is great. Doesn't leave my hair crunchy but defines my curls great. I scrunch my hair to get great curls and this works as a great help to get better defined curls. I found this on sale at Ulta for 3 for $25… It's the PERFECT finishing product for my thick, straight hair. I've tried a TON of styling creams, lotions, sprays, and pomades over the years, but they all made my hair look flat, greasy, stiff, or didn't have enough hold to keep baby hairs from sticking up. This helps give hair a little 2nd day texture without making it look dirty, doesn't weigh hair down at ALL, keeps flyaways and baby hairs at bay, and keeps split ends from looking… split! It also doesn't make my hair crunchymy hair is still soft and has movement. I've used it before putting on hot rollers and it helps hold the volume all day! I received this as a sample from Ulta with another purchase I had made. I have thin, fine hair and I use this product either with a curling iron or curlers . It says it has #3 hold and it does. I cannot tell you how very pleased I am. I have actually gone two days without styling my hair and it still looks good. This is unheard of for me. I have used very expensive products very inexpensive products and nothing works for me like the EIMI Pearl Styler Styling Gel. I might also mention that I live in a very humid area.chrissipoo

Have used this for years on my fine, white, spiky short hair. Applied to damp hair it can spike hair from 1.5 cm to 3 cm without any falling over. Spikes last all day. Gives a lovely shine with is often difficult with white hair. Love it.Janne C.

I’m gonna mentally be not OK if you guys discontinue Superglue. I have used this gel almost exclusively for over a decade now. There is absolutely nothing that comes close. My distinctive hairstyle is entirely dependent on Superglue. Superglue also works in a pinch stick on turbo hose that keeps falling off its fitting. Please bring back my Gel!Maxwell

I bought this product in-store about a month ago and have spent the last two weeks recovering from the severe reaction that stemmed from it. After looking up the ingredients on the package, I realized too late that there are a few key irritants in the product that reacted negatively to my skin. My symptoms include scalp irritation and tenderness, face sores, and intense swelling around my right eye. I would highly recommend steering clear from this product and brand. I received this product from Influenster as a sample to try. I gave 3 stars to try and keep it neutral. I’ve never been big when it comes to hair products like mousse, gels, hairspray, etc. I don’t like my hair to be crunchy, stiff or sticky. I also don’t really have curly hair…it’s actually wavy but even more so naturally frizzy and I usually straighten it or braid it. I tried it because I love the first product that I tried by the same company which is the oil mist. But unfortunately I didn’t like the gel for the reasons I stated above. I had been using another brand for years that came in a yellow tube and one day ran out by chance.I Never heard of this brand but I tried it out glad that I did now its my go to gel. It smells great, very clean, no flakes not overpowering it holds hair not like other brands that hold like glue or contact cement, and reek of plasticky odor. Oh how much I love this gel!! It does have a cologne like smell but to me it smells so good. Whenever I want to scrunch my hair I use this gel and the last me the whole day. Hubby Bought this gel the smallest size at his barber shop but it was $20 he then got the other size which is 30 something oz for $28. We really like this gel since its 0 alcohol. With that being said, this took FOREVER to dry. But maybe I used too much (1/3 of the bottle). I used it on soaking wet hair for a wash n go but it took 3 days to really dry and it still was wet on the third day. I also had flakes. But I might have used to much. It says firm hold which it’s true because it had a cast, but it’s not really a defining gel? Idk, I felt I had to use a lot to get the results I wanted. It didn’t last because it felt dry but at least it was cute. Would I recommend? Not really. I wouldn’t purchase this even though I love this brand.vanessa.p

Upon opening my free product to review as an Influencer I was happy to see it has no parabens.The enclosed pamphlet about the product claims this gel keeps hair moist and doesn’t dry it out as well as giving my hair more body and shine! Wow and to top it off tame fly aways! Yes please! So I was really excited to try it now! Upon opening it I was struck by the light fresh scent, the product itself is runny, it’s not a thick gel but that’s okay with me. I found it absorbs very quickly in my hair and isn’t sticky at all! My hair felt soft after application, and most importantly for me it didn’t tangle my very long hair! I was very excited what would the results be? So I applied it to my long hair, right after showering. I then combed it through and braided my hair in two braids. When braiding it it didn’t get stuck as often and when it did, no tangles it was smooth and beautiful neat looking braids ! I am impressed! So the next day I woke up and noticed that my braids after sleeping on them looked better than usual. They were not so fuzzy and undone. Still looked pretty nice! I then let my hair down, and it was super soft, it had taken the “curl” from the braids amazing! There’s absolutely no crunchy!!! It’s soft and looked incredible! After I brushed it out it still looked soft beautiful bouncy!!! Like wow! This product works amazing! I will definitely buy it again it works it’s very useful!!! It is unlike any gel I have ever tried!!! I am so happy I got to try this product it’s just fabulous!tara .b

I didn’t expect much from this gel. I currently use either John Frieda mousse or DevaCurl ArcAnGel when I want a stronger hold. I used this a few times now, and I really like the results. I continue my same routine: wash hair, apply leave-in conditioner and a frizz ease serum, then apply gel. I tried biolage’s gel instead of my own gel. I used just about a quarter sized amount because the gel felt a little heavy. The amount I used was just right and the very next morning (I have my hair air dry in a silk cap overnight) I removed my cap and my hair was so beautiful! It gave the same results as DevaCurl. No residue, either! One thing I don’t like is the cap. It’s a flap really. I think this will definitely replace my DevaCurl gels. It was getting to be very harsh on my highlighted curls (3b/3c) and drying it up at some points. So far I have not seen this happen with Biolage. I also tried this to do a refresh on days where I don’t wash my hair but want to make it look nice and not so frizzy! Comes out great once again. It doesn’t have a strong odor, very faint and you can barely tell there’s any fragrance. Great gel overall – I’d definitely recommend this over DevaCurl products!esther.n

I was lucky enough to receive this product in my last box from influenster. I love trying out new products on my hair, especially for my curls because they're very hard to manage. The first thing I loved about this product is that once I used it and my hair dried, it brought out the natural tight curls that my hair used to have before I had damaged it with a lot of heat use. I've been trying so hard to get that back and no product has done that for me yet except this! The only thing I didn't like (and maybe I just used too much of it) but my hair did dry kind of "crunchy" like it would if you scrunched your hair with any other kind of gel which I'm not thrilled with. Defeats the purpose of being "environmentally friendly" when it ends up at the dump. It did not prevent frizz or offer curl control. I have wavy and curly hair (as does my son) and the texture and feel after using this were awful. I don't typically rate negative and try to use a product to its end (waste), but I am sadly tossing this after 3 uses as it is simply not effective. I do not recommend it as it is a waste of $$. I received this product complimentary from #influenster for my honest opinion. The packages arrived sealed so there was no leakage. Once I opened it the smell is ok. The consistency doesn't feel like a gel but it's not too runny either, for me it's good since it was easy to apply. It does leave your hands a little sticky but not too much. At first my hair looked great but about 2 hours later, my hair had dried more and I noticed my hair looked lighter and taking a closer look and asking my husband the gel was already flaky causing for my hair to look that lighter shade and like i had dandruff. I was hoping this product would work 😔maria.m
