It makes my hair very shiny and holds the curl really well while still being soft and giving me lots of volume. My second day hair still looks great too. This is hands down the best curly hair gel on the market. I use 2-3 pumps for my whole head and scrunch it in after applying a leave in conditioner to very wet hair. It starts by drying hard but then as the day goes on, your hair looks and feels so soft and the curls are still in place. I branched out a year ago to try new products for my wavy hair and I stumbled on this one. I wasn’t sure at first because it’s a weird texture. Kinda like a watery gel. I received this as a sample from Ulta with another purchase I had made. I have thin, fine hair and I use this product either with a curling iron or curlers . It says it has #3 hold and it does. I cannot tell you how very pleased I am. I have actually gone two days without styling my hair and it still looks good. This is unheard of for me. I bought this product in-store about a month ago and have spent the last two weeks recovering from the severe reaction that stemmed from it. After looking up the ingredients on the package, I realized too late that there are a few key irritants in the product that reacted negatively to my skin. My symptoms include scalp irritation and tenderness, face sores, and intense swelling around my right eye. I would highly recommend steering clear from this product and brand. Because regardless of the quality (price) of products I use, my wash n go will last 4-5 days—which I’m absolutely fine with. So I wash it every 4-5 days, which is too often for a lot of people; not my problem. I love botanical-based products like these because they’re usually easier to work with—when you have long hair that’s a plus. In my opinion, it clumps my type 4 hair like a mane choice gel, but with less hold, more moisture, WAY MORE slip and I don’t feel a residue in the coming days. My hair just feels softer as the week goes on. As said on YouTube, this is a medium hold not a strong Wetline-type hold. So it’s a perfect, affordable option for someone who washes often and typically wears wash n go’s, like myself. Due to the softness of my hair, I would also use this for twists—I don’t do twist outs. I don’t think it would have enough hold for fingercoils on my hair. Overall, I do love using this gel, it plays well with a variety of leave-ins and mousses, so I’ll be repurchasing it. Just in other places because it’s cheaper.
I received this product from Influenster as a sample to try. I gave 3 stars to try and keep it neutral. I’ve never been big when it comes to hair products like mousse, gels, hairspray, etc. I don’t like my hair to be crunchy, stiff or sticky. I also don’t really have curly hair…it’s actually wavy but even more so naturally frizzy and I usually straighten it or braid it. You rub it into your hair after you shampoo while your hair is still wet. When your hair dries, the hair stays where you combed it until you run a comb or brush through it to take the stiffness out. After a year of locs- I combed them out. Usually I see a lot of product build up when I take out my locs, however after exclusively using this for a year, there wasn't much at all. I'm 2C/3A and have used this gel for years and loved it; unfortunately, like their Decadence conditioner, it has been reformulated and it's horrible now. If sticky, limp, greasy curls are your thing, this gel is what you're looking for. It no longer holds the way it used to, smells awful, and leaves my hair frizzy and greasy. I have really fine hair and this oil is added to the ends after I wash in the shower. I smooth it through then blow dry, makes my otherwise limp hair all swingy and shiny. I love this and yes it is expensive but lasts like forever. Do not overdo it, just use a small pump on the ends of hair and brush through. I read some reviews and thought I would try it as I have problems with my hair mainly due to a thyroid condition. I have tried so many things and this spray does really seem to work – I sometimes spray my hair and then set it on big rollers to give it even more body and it works very well. LOVE this hair serum! I decided to splurge on this product after reading the reviews. Firstly, I have fine/thin/oily at the roots dry a the ends hair. Anything too heavy makes my fine hair look greasy, so I have to be careful which products I use. I apply one pump of this to my hair after a shower it's the perfect amount. I find when I use this, my hair dries much less frizzy (with less fly aways throughout the day). It smells AMAZING!! There are two main claims that this product makes: 1. That is elongates curls. ✅ It does that. 2. "Frizz-Free" ❌ Big Fat Nope. As a connoisseur of curl-friendly products, I've come to expect a certain standard as far as frizz-taming claims go, and this does not hit the mark whatsoever. Other reviews state that they got great hold from this gel, and that just wasn't my experience at all. It basically disappears in my hair and I'm left dry & frizzy. When I saw this product, I thought I would give it a try. I normally use a mousse to help define my curls, but I'm always looking for something new or better to use. This product smelled great, and had some eye-grabbing text like "Frizz Free" and "Elongating" – I don't know if I misinterpreted the text, or if I was just too hopeful. Unfortunately, this product was way too sticky to even be able to run the product through my hair to try and even it out. After one application, I had to rewash my hair because it did not want to comply at all. It felt extremely heavy on my hair as well, which is the opposite of what I wanted. The smell was great – this product just did not work my hair type, and I didn't like the feel. I'm sure it would be great for someone else though! I recently ordered Maui Moisture Frizz Free + Shea Butter Elongating Gel. This gel comes in a soft plastic container that is easy to squeeze for dispensing the hair gel. This variety came in a pretty violet container with a gold flip open lid. It contains 283 GE (10oz) of gel. The container has beautiful graphics with product information. The gel is clear and slick in texture. This gel is vegan friendly as well as paraben and silicone free. It’s made with 100% aloe vera. It also contains shea butter, coconut oil and macadamia oil. This combination helps better form curls and reduce frizz. It has a wonderful nutty and coconut aroma. I took a shower and got my hair clean and conditioned. After combing the tangles out, I towel tried till it was just barely damp then applied the gel to sections of my hair working it in as I moved to each section. I let it air dry the rest of the way. LOVE, Love, love it! I initially only bought the style cream, which was hard to distribute through wet hair and made it tacky. Then I noticed the style gel on the website and saw that it was a CREAM gel. Bought it, tried it on my wet hair after applying the leave in, then finished with the Jojoba oil blend and, "WOW!" my waves instantly popped and were elongated. My 2C/3A hair is transitioning and I chose not to do the "big chop", but whether I twist, braid, or bantu knot style, this gel provides superior slip and juicy moisture on wet hair and gives me an almost even wave pattern from root to end. It air dries soft (not glass hard like traditional gels) within a day, and makes my waves–even at the crown roots–feel like butter! I now only use the styling cream on dry hair when re-moisturizing and reactivating waves, as that works better for me. I also use the gel with the rehydrating mist on dry hair when restyling from loose waves to a ponytail to rehydrate and detangle the roots for a smooth finish…oh, and it smells good, too, without overwhelming my sinuses.Sandra C.
I have weird hair: curly on the front but wavy on the back, thinning because of aging and quite dry. This is the first product I try from this brand and I am really enjoying it. PROS: – It has nourishing ingredients like aloe vera, coconut oil and cacay oil. – It leaves the curls looking defined and natural. – It leaves the hair feeling hydrated and very soft – It doesn’t leave a residue, and I tend to apply too much, so that’s good. – It smells so good (at least for my liking) CONS: – It is not a gel, but a cream (at least is how it looks) – It has a light to medium hold. I prefer stronger gels that keep my hair in place for longer, but that’s just my preference. This one forces me to wash my hair more often that I would like because my hair gets frizzy sooner. Very happy with my purchase so far. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm happy I gave this line a try. My last two washes, I give my hair a quick 5 min in a microfiber towel then spray the hydrating hair mist all over, followed by a quarter size of the leave-in conditioner, and then a quarter size of the curl gel. I let this air dry and I have SOFT, well formed, barely-frizzy waves. I would say, this definitely weighs down my curls a tad, as they're not as well-formed as I know they could be, but I am also not diffusing my hair and instead letting it air dry. My hair feels SOFT–I cannot stress this enough, as other products leave my hair feeling dry or crunchy, or both–and there is actual movement in my hair, which I rarely get. I know others mention the smell of the products is awful, but I have not had an issue. It's a very synthetic cucumber smell, but I find it quite faint. I really wanted to like this, but this product did very little for my hair. For reference, I have 2c-3a waves and curls. This product smells very nice, but the texture is very thin and sticky. Well this product does not work well with oil. It turned into white balls all over my hair. It make my scalp itch and flaked really bad. You will get a very hard curl so if this is what you want, it's for you. I would sample a small amount while at home with no other product. I have psoriasis on my scalp and my hair is curly dry and frizzy. My daily routine is add oil on my scalp and massage my scalp with it and then I put my curl cream and diffuse my hair. I feel like I should use it again to give it a proper review. But my initial thoughts were this was okay. I have 4a-c curls, low porosity, medium density, fine/medium hair. With that being said, this took FOREVER to dry. But maybe I used too much (1/3 of the bottle). I used it on soaking wet hair for a wash n go but it took 3 days to really dry and it still was wet on the third day. I also had flakes. But I might have used to much. It says firm hold which it’s true because it had a cast, but it’s not really a defining gel? Idk, I felt I had to use a lot to get the results I wanted. It didn’t last because it felt dry but at least it was cute. Would I recommend? Not really. I wouldn’t purchase this even though I love this brand.vanessa.p
Upon opening my free product to review as an Influencer I was happy to see it has no parabens.The enclosed pamphlet about the product claims this gel keeps hair moist and doesn’t dry it out as well as giving my hair more body and shine! Wow and to top it off tame fly aways! Yes please! So I was really excited to try it now! Upon opening it I was struck by the light fresh scent, the product itself is runny, it’s not a thick gel but that’s okay with me. I found it absorbs very quickly in my hair and isn’t sticky at all! My hair felt soft after application, and most importantly for me it didn’t tangle my very long hair! I was very excited what would the results be? So I applied it to my long hair, right after showering. I then combed it through and braided my hair in two braids. When braiding it it didn’t get stuck as often and when it did, no tangles it was smooth and beautiful neat looking braids ! I am impressed! So the next day I woke up and noticed that my braids after sleeping on them looked better than usual. They were not so fuzzy and undone. Still looked pretty nice! I then let my hair down, and it was super soft, it had taken the “curl” from the braids amazing! There’s absolutely no crunchy!!! It’s soft and looked incredible! After I brushed it out it still looked soft beautiful bouncy!!! Like wow! This product works amazing! I will definitely buy it again it works it’s very useful!!! I didn’t expect much from this gel. I currently use either John Frieda mousse or DevaCurl ArcAnGel when I want a stronger hold. I used this a few times now, and I really like the results. I continue my same routine: wash hair, apply leave-in conditioner and a frizz ease serum, then apply gel. I tried biolage’s gel instead of my own gel. I used just about a quarter sized amount because the gel felt a little heavy. The amount I used was just right and the very next morning (I have my hair air dry in a silk cap overnight) I removed my cap and my hair was so beautiful! It gave the same results as DevaCurl. No residue, either! One thing I don’t like is the cap. It’s a flap really. I think this will definitely replace my DevaCurl gels. It was getting to be very harsh on my highlighted curls (3b/3c) and drying it up at some points. So far I have not seen this happen with Biolage. I also tried this to do a refresh on days where I don’t wash my hair but want to make it look nice and not so frizzy! Comes out great once again. It doesn’t have a strong odor, very faint and you can barely tell there’s any fragrance. Great gel overall – I’d definitely recommend this over DevaCurl products!esther.n

Didn't get that, a little too crunchy and the shine factor isn't there like I've seen from other products. It says firm hold 8 out of 10. I felt it was more 5 out of 10 after a few hours of wear. I've been using Joico 4 medium gel for many years. Just received my last order. The ad shows the old tube but I received a new updated tube which contains a different and much stronger fragrance. I'm allergic to scents but I was able to use the old Joico because the fragrance was minimal and smelled more like a herbal. The new scent is horrible! I cannot use it. I also paid $14.99 two weeks ago and now it is listed at $13.05. I guess I should be impressed that it went down instead of up.Disappointed

I'd been using Herbal Essences' 'set me up' styling gel for years and only purchased Garnier's styling gel because Herbal Essences is no longer making the particular gel I had been using, or for some reason, it simply is no longer available at a reasonable price. I have to say that Garnier's gel is far superior to Herbal Essences' gel. I have extremely short gray hair, and my morning routine consists of a one to two-minute blow dry, a quick brush through my hair, and an application of a small dollop of hair gel. After that, I never touch my hair for the rest of the day. Garnier's product is very light, nicely scented, and it stiffens my hair in place with a very natural look. There is absolutely no white flaking, and the amount required to hold my hair in place is about half what I used to use with the Herbal Essences gel. A dime-sized amount is completely adequate to ensure my hair doesn't move. I am far more satisfied with this gel than with the various ridiculously expensive gels my hair stylist uses on my hair when I go in for a haircut every six weeks. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product, and the inexpensive price can't be beat!harley.g
This acts like glue. I have long hair (just above waist) and I tried this because my husband uses it (short hair). I added a quarter size amount to damp hair, scrunched it a bit and let air dry. Nice wavy curls but midday I put my hair up into a messy bun (hair was barely damp). At the end of the day when I let my hair down it was all glued together. When I brushed out my hair it ripped and pulled. Awful. My hair is now damaged and completely frizzed out. I am getting it all cut off this weekend. BTW, I normally use the Curl Sculpt by the same maker and love it.Corrie
This is the only hair gel I use. I freak out if I’m out of it. I was traveling and had an early appointment and realized “one of us” didn’t pack it. I have very fluffy/fro-ey hair so I rely on it. It’s water based and light and had an impressive hold. It shakes out or fluffs out without flaking. An easy hair re-wet can help the water based formula reshape and get ya through the last few hours of the day if you need. The lightness, the water based formula, and the no flaking are my top 3 reasons it is better than ALLLLLL the others.Fluffy

This is the best hair gel I've ever tried after many brands off and on over the years. This has a mild scent that fades quickly, it washes out easily and cleanly, and the price is unbeatable. In my case, I have relatively thick straight hair (ginger) and this gel worked well when the hair is cut short. But at medium length ( 6") it does not hold for long. But that is no fault of the hair gel. It really depends on your haircut. I totally recommend this gel, especially at the price.Clay
I really like Pinaud styling gel. They used to carry it in the area that I live, but the stores that used to carry it all stopped carrying it for some reason. There was one barber shop a few miles away that still carried it, but they wanted close to $30 per jar for it. PharmaPacks, LLC makes it so easy to get it now, and their prices are super reasonable. I see no reason anymore to leave the house (just to be disappointed to find that the store decided to stop carrying what you were looking for) to buy grooming goods anymore.leverlover6
