Perhaps they have changed the formula. #9 is rarely stocked in stores anymore. It works best on my fine hair which blows in the wind if I don't use it. You rub it into your hair after you shampoo while your hair is still wet. When your hair dries, the hair stays where you combed it until you run a comb or brush through it to take the stiffness out. It will last for about 2 days. It is water soluble and non-greasy. And it is also inexpensive. One bottle will last me more than a month. The squeezable bottle allows you to use every bit of it. I bought this after watching the Curly Susie YouTube videos. I was so excited, initially I did not love it as it didnt really enhance my curl or hold it. This review will be about the same as far the shampoo. On my very long thin wavy hair, this conditioner is just too heavy. I only apply conditioner from mid length to ends so I can avoid my scalp getting oily too fast. This conditioner does an okay job of taking frizz and it smells great so those are the positives. The negatives are just that, on thin hair, it is too heavy and makes my hair appear dirty the next day. I usually style my hair with mousse or gel before blow drying and I can’t even do that because my hair will look immediately dirty and stringy. I don’t mind using this system if I’m wearing my hair up and taking a break from heat styling. But because I wear my hair down all the time, it’s just not the best system for me personally. I’d recommend this shampoo and conditioner to someone with very dry or frizzy hair; but they would need to have nice dense thick hair to avoid dirty looking hair the next day.erin.g

Hello! I usually use a combination of Mielle products for my granddaughter but this time I decided on Moisture RX products only due to being the change of seasons and her hair being a little more dry than normal. She is 13 and often styles her own hair and wants that , "moisturized", look as she says for her twist-outs etc. She is very happy as am I with the results especially trying the overnight conditioner for the first time. I bought this a month or two ago, and I love this gel! Its so lightweight, but keeps my hair in place. The best thing about this is that its not sticky or tacky at all! I bought this gel to style my curly hair with. I normally use the curly jelly by Umberto Giannini (which is my AMAZING also from Boots) but I wanted to try this out as I know a lot of American curly girls use this, and it's great that boots are stocking more US brands. Overall, I'd say this is an average gel. Not too expensive, and you get a large tub for the price and the ingredients are ok. CG friendly. It feels a bit sticky at first but that goes away quickly and it doesn't make the hair crunchy or dry. There are no flakey bits either, which is a problem I've encountered in the past. My biggest issue with this product is that it doesn't really give my curls enough definition. I ended up with soft waves rather than nicely defined curls. I applied the product to soaking wet hair, which is what I always do, and then scrunched and let my hair air dry for about 3 hours. I noticed that my hair dried very quickly and that the curls were very soft and voluminous but were lacking in their normal definition. This gel doesn't seem to provide enough of a 'cast' and therefore my curls seemed a bit lacking as a result. If you're looking for soft curls then this will probably be perfect for you but if you need a little more definition then this isn't the gel for you. It's not the worse gel I've ever used but it wasn't great either. I think I'll stick to my Umberto Giannini curl jelly instead. *Just wanted to add that on my 2nd day hair, my curls have pretty much all fallen out and now resemble very loose waves, almost straight! I thought this purchase was very good value for money. The product gave my hair lots of shine whereas previously it lacked lustre. I wanted it to define, loosen and hold my curls and it is the most effective product that I have used for this (believe me I have tried so many). It is best applied when the hair is wet e.g. after washing. I was even able to freshen up the curls between washes by just wetting the hair, plaiting and leaving it in the plaits over night. Just wetting the hair seemed to activate the gel that I had initially applied after washing. You need to gauge how much gel to use by experimenting. Too much will make the hair too crispy and stringy and I don't recommend using it on dry hair at all.Ruby red

I bought this product in-store about a month ago and have spent the last two weeks recovering from the severe reaction that stemmed from it. After looking up the ingredients on the package, I realized too late that there are a few key irritants in the product that reacted negatively to my skin. My symptoms include scalp irritation and tenderness, face sores, and intense swelling around my right eye. I would highly recommend steering clear from this product and brand. Because regardless of the quality (price) of products I use, my wash n go will last 4-5 days—which I’m absolutely fine with. So I wash it every 4-5 days, which is too often for a lot of people; not my problem. I love botanical-based products like these because they’re usually easier to work with—when you have long hair that’s a plus. In my opinion, it clumps my type 4 hair like a mane choice gel, but with less hold, more moisture, WAY MORE slip and I don’t feel a residue in the coming days. My hair just feels softer as the week goes on. As said on YouTube, this is a medium hold not a strong Wetline-type hold. So it’s a perfect, affordable option for someone who washes often and typically wears wash n go’s, like myself. Due to the softness of my hair, I would also use this for twists—I don’t do twist outs. I don’t think it would have enough hold for fingercoils on my hair. Overall, I do love using this gel, it plays well with a variety of leave-ins and mousses, so I’ll be repurchasing it. Just in other places because it’s cheaper.
I received this product from Influenster as a sample to try. I gave 3 stars to try and keep it neutral. I’ve never been big when it comes to hair products like mousse, gels, hairspray, etc. I don’t like my hair to be crunchy, stiff or sticky. I also don’t really have curly hair…it’s actually wavy but even more so naturally frizzy and I usually straighten it or braid it. I tried it because I love the first product that I tried by the same company which is the oil mist. But unfortunately I didn’t like the gel for the reasons I stated above. Maybe because my hair isn’t really curly that neither the mousse or gel accentuated the curls. I did like the packaging and the scent was pleasant but not overpowering. My 6 year old son is on the autism spectrum. He has NEVER, EVER allowed me to style his hair. He hates everything about it. On a whim, I thought I would try an unscented gel, and bought Fragfre. Magically, he allowed me to style his hair with this gel! I think the light scents put out by regular hair gels have been a sensory overload for him, but he could never find the words to explain that to me, I just had to guess. His hair looked cute! I would describe his hair as thick and straight. This gel held his hair in place with no problem. I definitely recommend this product for anyone, but especially those with sensivity to scents and perfumes.
If you look closely at FRAGREE's packaging, you'll immediately notice that the list of ingredients in this product is SIGNIFICANTLY SHORTER than the list(s) shown on comparable product labels. If you have a wheat allergy like I do, then I would highly recommend this product because it did not cause the skin on my head to react in any way. In the past, I have had an inflammatory response (e.g. flaking skin, itching, etc.). due to the harsh chemicals found in other comparable products on the market. This product DOES NOT CONTAIN WHEAT, so it has proven to have been safe for me thusfar. If you follow a gluten-free/wheat-free diet, then why not also use skincare and haircare products that also are gluten-free/wheat-free, right? In fact, this is the first hair gel product that I've encountered in years that truly is ideal for people with sensitive skin. I've been searching for years for a gel that keeps my middle aged head of hair looking full without that cheap shiny look. Tried this out for my 2-year-old son and I really like it! Has a great list of natural ingredients, many of them organic. Fragrance is very subtle and clean. It leaves a very flexible/touchable hold, not stiff or spikey. I have naturally curly hair. "Curly girls" know that gel is better than mousse any day. This is my favorite product to use for my hair. It's SO CHEAP I don't know if you could ever convince me that some expensive bottle of gel is going to do much better than this stuff, so I don't waste my money. Here's my routine. -Wash condition (make sure shampoo is sulfate free!) -Use tshirt to absorb excess water -Apply serum or argan oil to ends -Apply generous amount of gel eeeverywhere -Blow dry with DIFFUSER -Shake out curls to get rid of the "crunchy" feel And you're good to go for a couple days!kate.s
I've used this brand of styling gel for years. The newer products with higher numbers, don't seem to have better holding power than those with lower numbers. Perhaps they have changed the formula. #9 is rarely stocked in stores anymore. It works best on my fine hair which blows in the wind if I don't use it. You rub it into your hair after you shampoo while your hair is still wet. When your hair dries, the hair stays where you combed it until you run a comb or brush through it to take the stiffness out. It will last for about 2 days. It is water soluble and non-greasy. And it is also inexpensive. One bottle will last me more than a month. The squeezable bottle allows you to use every bit of it. After using Rizos Curls shampoo & conditioner I use the gel BY ITSELF.. and it gives me a very good strong cast and TONS of volume. I love using this as a single styler. My next day hair still looks amazing just using this gel without refreshing as well. If you want a less/light hold, pair it with their defining cream. I have wavy 2b hair that's low porosity and have struggled to find a gel that works. I was ready to throw this away because everytime I used it with my daily products, my hair would be crunchy, stringy, and dry. My stylist told me to try it by itself since some gels work best alone. That did the trick! I let it air dry then scrunch the crunch with Olaplex bond oil. Now it works beautifully 😍 for those it hasn't worked try it on its own before tossing it.Ros from KC
