I must say that I am not a huge celebrity endorser but I must say Mr. Mondo that every product that you have created has been fabulous! I am in love with the super gloss. I use it right after I shower and I blow dry my hair to rough it up a little bit, that ensures it will be ready to soak up the goodness that is enriched in the product, and then I heavily cost my hair starting at the ends and working towards the root. Then I use a plastic head cap and let is sit for about an hour. I know, I know! It says like 20 minutes, but I am an overachiever. Lol Plus it never hurts to leave it on a little bit longer. My hair is already colored with Brad's Super Blue and Super Purple and this product not only makes your hair shiny but it locks in that color. This stuff really worked for me in terms of colour and overall coverage. (Also found it didn’t cover greys but I wasn’t expecting that since the company says that it’s not meant for grey coverage so I just pluck them.) I did find it a bit drying on my hair, so I recommend an Olaplex treatment to follow up if you often have an issue with dry hair. Good news is that my hair soaks up most products, bad news is that any dye usually dries it out. I read in these reviews to use less time if you have thinner, more dry hair and I totally echo that tip. Start with 5 mins, rinse, dry, style, see how you like it. Can always add more time on follow up applications, but wait at least 4-6 week to try again. Having said all that, this product almost works TOO good. My concern in this part is for your shower, not your hair. If going with a darker colour I highly recommend applying outside of the shower, like with any other hair dye, and washing out in a stainless steel sink. The first time I used it, I applied in the shower and it stained the white walls and white shower curtain. And also stained the label on the bottle! I thought my partner was going to KILL me (his house) and I had a mini panic attack while praying I could get it to come off the shower walls (white plastic tub surround). Rubbing with my fingers was not cutting it. I was able to scrub it off using a powder cleaner, but if you want to save yourself the anxiety, just apply like a regular dye, and wash out in the sink. If you don’t have that option, or would rather risk your shower over your bathroom, just have a good cleaner on hand to clean spots immediately off the walls. DO NOT apply in the shower if you have light-coloured tile! You will never be able to get it out of light-coloured grout, which is the stuff between the tiles holding them to the wall. Do not risk it or you might be paying to re-tile the shower and/or won’t be getting your damage deposit back!GenoaK
I received a free full size sample of the dpHUE Gloss+ Semi-permanent hair color and I am a fan! I am a licensed cosmetologist and I usually stay away from anything that isn't used in a professional salon setting but, after a recent color appointment left my hair over-processed and brittle, as well as too blonde I was excited to give this semipermanent hair color and deep conditioner a try. (We just moved across the country and I don't have the time right now to make it to the supply house for a toner and conditioning treatment) I received the color medium brown. The application process was so easy, I shampooed and conditioned my hair in the shower, stepped to the side and towel dried my hair and combed it out, then applied this semipermanent hair color. I left it on for the remainder of my shower, approximately 7-10 minutes. The pigment is wonderful and rich, and it leaves beautiful warm tones in your hair. If you don't wear gloves to apply, make sure you have soap on standby to clean your hands or it will stain! This product left my hair silky smooth and shiny. I was very pleased with the golden brown color it toned my hair to. I was even more pleased to see that it did not slough off on my flat iron or my white pillow cases. I've already shampooed my hair once and the color stuck around. I can tell it's lighter and that it'll continue to lighten as I shampoo, but that's the point of semipermanent hair color. I think if I was in a pinch and needed to tone my hair between color appointments I would definitely consider buying this product. I loved the ease of not having to mix this product and having both the option to apply in-shower to damp hair or to dry. I used the dark brown which was perfectly suitable for my hair color. For the first application I used the in-shower on damp hair method. This sounded like no brainer… I didn't have to worry about the product getting on anything, I was already going to wash my hair anyway, and I could quickly and easily wash my hands to prevent the pigment from staining my hands… Right? Yes, to all but the latter!!! The company does warn that darker shades can stain the skin but I never imagined that it would stain my hands the second it made contact. I had to scrub my hands with a pumice stone until they were sore and raw in order to get the stains off. You have been warned 🙂 Now fearful of what was the underestimated power of this product, I only left it on my hair for approximately 5 minutes. The results were great, as I did notice my color was a beautiful, deeper, richer version of its self prior to the treatment. Thankfully, my hair is already shiny so I am unable to review that aspect of the products claim. After 2 weeks I thought it only be fair to try this product using the dry method and left it on for the same duration of time for a most accurate comparison… This time, I used gloves 🙂 The results were equally as positive and effective without the stress of staining. Both applications were super easy, as there was no mixing, the product comes in an easy to use bottle with a pump dispenser and the formula is rich and thick making for an effortless application. I would highly recommend this product for anyone looking for more dimension and an easy at home semipermanent color either in between visits to the salon or just to give your locks an extra boost of shine and depth. I love this product. I have medium brown hair (with gray). So I do my roots with brown then apply the COOL BLONDE down the back top of hair. It's PURPLE so beware haha. I leave it on 15 mins. I really wanted to love this product. I love the blow-dry spray. This products smells wonderful, very fruity which is essentially why I'm giving it 2 stars and not less. I have thin, fine hair that is longer than shoulder length. I wanted something to help with shine and tame some of my frizz. I applied the product to damp hair and let my hair air dry. When it dried it had a bunch of static. I tried again but this time blow dried my hair…still static. I even tried applying more product and less. Still static. Love this silkening gloss. It smells like strawberry lipsmackers. Very sweet and candy-like and it makes the hair so smooth and shiny. The bottle is small but you only need a drop, a little goes a long way. I have hair down to my waist and I apply a drop smaller than a dime to semi damp hair and when I blow dry it it really smooths the hair and reduces any frizziness. I saw this at my local drugstore and thought my hair could use a boost of shine. Remember when John Frieda products used to be good? They’ve really gone downhill. This gloss did nothing. I followed the directions exactly and my hair looked the same, except smelled like Chemicals. This glaze really has a terrible scent and the only way I can describe it is very industrial and chemical-y. I remember using this years ago and it had a better scent and really amped up the shine. I've had a love hate relationship with my hair since I learned how to brush my own hair. It's wavy and gets very poofy and fuzzy when it rains or is high humidity. I decided to try this Glaze and I was sure it wasn't going to help my issues but I was wrong; it did work for me. I will say I did experience the drying affect that some people mentioned immediately after I used it with the 20 minute once a week application. But if you understand that your hair has to have time to calm down after this treatment you will see the positive benefits of this product. The cuticle on your hair has to calm down and your hair will look and feel great!! On my second application I put it on my hair dry and I left it on for 2 days and when I washed my hair it was a much better result. It did make my hair feel a little more course because I used it as a leave in treatment but I feel like my hair had more time for the product to do its job. I didn't put the product on my roots and I did notice that part of my hair was a little fuzzy so my next application I will apply it closer to my roots. love John Frieda products but primarily use their Volumizing products. I didn't even know about this product (but wish I had). I have thin, fine hair that is chemically treated and heat styled quite often. I do take good care of my hair, so it's a lot healthier looking than it was before u started a hair care routine and investing in products but of course I would love for it to look shiny and glossy like women's hair in shampoo commercials! 😊. When I got it, I decided to stick with the daily treatments, 1)because the bottle will last me longer and 2)I think the weekly treatment would be to much for my hair and it would end up weighed down and oily looking. So, used for 1st time a few days ago and WOW… I was honestly kinda expecting it to be more of a gimmicky product. I left it in for 3 min, rinsed with cool water, applied my Normal hair care and styling products then blow dry. Now, even though my hair is super fine and thin, I've found the right mix of products that it actually has body and volume when I blow dry but when I looked in the mirror.. My jaw dropped because my auburn hair looked like it belonged in a commercial! It worked better than I could have ever imagined. My hair was just so glossy still with body and so much movement and it made my hair color look so freaking good. So, after this I continued to spray with Joico Heat Protectant and curled my hair. Lastly, added some hairspray for hold and a dry mist coconut oil on the ends of my hair. Even with all the product and heat styling, my hair was STILL sporting impressive shine, no frizz dvd just looked 10X better than usual. The picture doesn't even do it justice. I will never be without this product again from here on out. I was so impressed that I just purchased the hair gloss in the color red since I freshly colored my hair today and though I usually use a color depositing shampoo to extend fine between coloring, I will now be using this instead (considering it freshens cold adequately which I'm confident it will). I received a free sample of the L’Oreal Paris Le Color Gloss (Shade: Clear) from SoPost. “Suitable for all hair types and textures, color-treated or natural hair. No mixing and no gloves needed, in shower toning gloss is easy-to-use with just 1 tube, no hassle with up to 15 minute application. No damage with coconut oil infused deep conditioning base, vegan, color and keratin safe. Free of ammonia, parabens, phthalates, sulfates, and mineral oils.” I have long natural hair with older grown-out highlights about 8 inches from my crown, so I wasn’t quite sure what this product would do for me. I applied the Gloss to my clean wet hair and left it on for 15 minutes according to the instructions. It washed out smoothly, and I noticed my hair felt silky before even leaving the shower. Once I let my hair air dry, I saw that it was shinier and the flyaways were more tame. The few highlights I have left were slightly more vibrant, but it’s hard to attribute that to this product since they’re always more a touch more vibrant after washing my hair. This product claims to enhance tone, boost shine, and deeply condition to keep your hair color looking gorgeous and glossy. I’ll definitely give it credit for boosting the shine, but honestly, I can get better conditioning from other products that require less time to apply and don’t have a long warning label on the bottle. For natural hair, I don’t see this product as beneficial or necessary. If you have highlights or color that you want to boost, I would suggest trying the various other Gloss options (or the clear, depending on the color of hair dye you used). But for my mostly-natural hair, this didn’t do enough for me to truly be able to recommend it.kat.j
I found this on clearance for 50% off retail at kroger so I decided to try this out. This is a gloss that I found intriguing as decided to try. The steps seemed easy enough. Simply treat it like a conditioner or hair mask. Apply while in shower to damp clean hair, wait a while and then rinse. The bottle states it is up to 3 applications. The bottle is big so I'm safely assuming you do have to use a lot for the results. I have long thick black / dark brown hair. I really just want this for the "shine" I saw in the back of the box. Although my hair did NOT get that "gloss" look like the images stated I would get, it is softer, smells great and looks 12 % healthier than before so it was worth a try and the $1.50.victoria .g
I think those who are unhappy with this product didn't use the right color. I have had silver hair naturally for over 30 years and brassiness has always been a problem. Heat styling has only made it worse. I have spent hundreds on products that promised the moon and did nothing or gave me lavender or grey hair. This product in Silver White is an answer to my prayers. I love it! I tried Silver first and realized that it left my hair a bit darker. I searched to see if they had a lighter one and they have. I was very excited to try this product. I wanted shinier hair, and there are literally diamonds printed on the packaging. I followed the directions, though I extended the time a bit and put on a shower cap to incubate. The result was literally lackluster. My hair feels "moisturized" but weighed down and a bit greasy. This product has been a lifesaver for me. I got balayage done, but they made it too light in one session so it got messed up. I could not wash my hair with shampoo because how stiff it would get. I tried deep conditioner, hair mass, leave in conditioner and hair oils to help my hair but nothing worked. Then I discovery this product and tried it out… holy wakamolly!! I used one box and now I can wash my hair with shampoo and conditioner with no problem. This product makes your hair shiny, glossy, smooth, health the fridge, and keeps it together. My balayage was not blended well so this private help to neutralize the color and Blends more well. I no longer see yellow-ish orange tones in my hair anymore. I still wanted my hair a little more darker so I used this product a week later again to get the idea color I was looking for. I have Asian/white hair. A few months ago I got a purple balayage. Ever since the salon color faded I was using color depositing conditioners to boost the color every couple weeks. Testing different colors to find the perfect muted lavender/mauve shade. I tried the KE color depositing conditioner, overtone, but they were too cool toned and not enough pigment. I was very nervous to try this because the box only shows it on pre-lightened super dark hair. I decided to go for it and I really like how it turned out! My hair is a medium/dark brown with balayage. The previous purple color in the lightened sections of my hair was almost completely faded when I applied this toning gloss to my hair. I applied it all over, brushed product through and only left it on for 15 minutes because application took a while for me. I have a lot of hair to go through. I love the how the purple looks in my balayaged sections. It does darken up your natural color a little too. Very happy with the results! I love Kristin Ess products. I wish she would bring back the amethyst temp spray tint! I used the rose gold one to help warm up the cool toned purple conditioners and the application was so easy. I hadn’t gotten a professional gloss color for about four months at this point. KE glosses used: 2/3 smoky topaz 1/3 bittersweet mixed. I used the equivalent of one bottle and it was more than enough. I processed for 20 minutes. First photo with lighter hair is the before, second with darker hair is after. These products, lol. I’ve had experiences with them all over the place. I bought the clear ones years ago and stopped because I didn’t feel like they did anything. I tried the tortoise shell (coppery) color two years ago to use on brassy highlights, it did nothing and made my hair super dry and frizzy. I wanted to give these another try because I have balayage highlights that I haven’t decided if I want to get redone or grow out. They were getting super yellow and brassy, clearly grown out, and dry/brittle. I wanted to darken them a bit while I decide and cool down the yellow. I bought two colors: smoky topaz and bittersweet. I did the strand test on these, and oh my god, DEFINITELY don’t skip this step if it’s your first time using these and follow the instructions in the box. I took two small chunks/strands of hair that had some visible yellow brass in them and let them process for 20 minutes. The smoky topaz did nothing for me, the bittersweet turned my hair almost black! And it had a green look since it went over yellow hair. Kristin Ess doesn’t recommend this, but I decided to mix the two colors. I did 2/3 smoky topaz and 1/3 bittersweet. I mixed up about a teaspoon’s worth of this and did the strand test again. I was happy with it: it felt close to my natural hair color! I think it worked with these two because they both have cooler undertones. Because the smoky topaz did nothing for me, it diluted the bittersweet. These colors did leave my hair softer and shinier than expected, not dry like I’ve had in the past with others. I’m happy with how the color came out, I am curious to see how long it will last. But overall, I would do this again for a quick and reasonably cheap color touch up.VB

This product did all it said it would for my hair, I did get the cool blonde one and that one you only have to leave in for four minutes vs twenty so perhaps that played a role. With a good Sephora discount, I finally justified the expense 😉 On the first attempt, on dry hair as suggested, did not impress me. I was very disappointed to have waited so long for almost nothing. So I decided to try on wet hair, like a mask, for a 5-7 minutes and that’s when the real results occured. Obviously, you have to be realistic: you will not turn platinum! I wish I could give 0 stars on this product but since I can't 1star it is. I'm writing this review in hopes to save someone else. I bought this product at sephora during the vib early holiday access. The sales lady talked me and my mom into them after my mom tried the root coverup. Well it broke off chunks of my hair and a month before my engagement pics. My best friend does my hair and worked a miracle to hide the damage. I didn't realize this was the product that did it until a month and a half later I used it and chunks of my hair broke off again. Now I'm sitting here with a lot shorter hair than I would like trying to grow and repair my hair before my July wedding. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this productsamantha.b
this is a great product to have on hand in between colors. I love in shower products because you dont have to apply after, wait, and then go back in. you just apply between shampoo and conditioner and its just a few extra minutes in the shower and my grays are covered. This IS a foam. you need to shake the bottle well to mix color into foam. It does not cover grays 100% but it covers enough to make you look presentable. I think if you have bleached or lightened hair it might give a green cast. otherwise for someone like me who just needs moderate grey coverage it absolutely does the job. I also think it adds good texture to hair. i have fine straight hair so it can go limp very quickly and this DOES NOT weigh hair down at all.Jennifer

Last year I dyed my hair for the first time. I am a natural “bronde” like the Smoky Topaz box says, but went dark brown. I then made several attempts to dye it back to a more blonde color, however I eventually gave up and cut most of it off, letting the roots grow out a for few months. The difference between my roots and dyed hair was drastic because of the contrast orangey tint to the dark blonde color I last dyed it. My natural color is slightly cooler and slightly more brown, but I didn’t want to dye it again to blend the two. (I don’t have a good before photo of the roots, but there was a definite line between the two that was noticeable.) This product did what what it claims to do – reduced brassiness without darkening my overall color. However, I did use a blue shampoo and conditioner afterwards for maximum results. The difference is hard to see in photos, but my roots and dyed hair are now much closer in shade and the difference is hardly noticeable. I am almost back to my natural color, if not a little better because my hair is naturally a little brassy. I'm generally that girl who relies heavily on product reviews before trying something new, but I'm so bad about actually putting reviews out there for others. After using this product, I decided I had to pay it forward and spread the good news. I have naturally light brown hair that turns blond at the ends, especially after spending the summer in the sun. Compound that with old highlights that I'm trying to grow out and my hair had a lovely, dull, balayage effect (NOT in a good way). I've been avoiding coloring my hair, as my hair ALWAYS pulls red, but I was dying to darken the blond ends. I had been using Schwarzkopf Igora mousse, but it takes forever (20 min processing time for anything noticeable) and barely makes a difference. Enter, John Frieda. I had my reservations, as I've heard mixed things about the brilliant brunette products, but I figured it was better than nothing. Used this product yesterday for the first time and I'm in love. For one, it's very easy to use and doesn't take forever to rinse out like the Schwarzkopf product. I left it in for the minimum processing time (3 mins) and when I rinsed, the water ran clear from the beginning. A good sign that my hair absorbed every last drop. It smells great and added some nice thickness and shine to my hair. After blow drying, my hair has a beautiful sheen and more importantly, it's more uniform in color! OK, it's not a miracle product, as my ends are still lighter than the top of my hair, but it looks so much more natural and healthy! I'm so happy with this product and can't wait to see the results after continued use with longer processing times. If you want to add shine and a color boost to your hair and don't want to go through dying it, this is the product for you!Hehe
I have long hair. I do not use permanent hair color, only John Frieda Brunette Gloss. I wash my hair and then towel dry. Then, put the gloss on top of my head where I have some grays, about 20%. Then, I put John Frieda Brilliant Brunette cream rinse and let it do its wonder while I shave my legs and wash up. L’Oréal EverPure Glossing in shower Acidic Glaze is an acidic PH hair treatment with Aragon oil that leaves hair intensely shiny. It has so many benefits it seals cuticle and intensifies shine for silky, smooth hair. Has a glossy finish that lasts and Anti -fade and UV filter, it’s very gentle on color treated hair. I was very lucky that Influenster sent me the shampoo/conditioner/ and the glossing spray. So using this in conjunction with L’Oréal Paris EverPure sulfate- Free glossing Conditioner and even after the very first application I seen/felt results. I noticed it felt smoother and was easier to manage. It’s very easy to rinse out. I’m blonde and had dull limp hair so this really is making a difference. I usually experience greasy looking hair so I was hesitant to try but given the opportunity to try and review I’m very happy with the results and would highly recommend! You only have to use a very small amount I did notice one day I used too much and it did look greasy so you have to be careful!! It’s designed to be used between shampooing and conditioning to smooth out your cuticle and to Add extra shine to your hair it’s definitely feels silky and lustrous. My one complaint was that the spray packaging is a bit fiddle, especially when your in the shower and everything is wet! I received the L’Oréal EverPure glossing #Voxbox complementary from Influenster in exchange for my honest review. The EverPure glossing haircare system is a easy, in shower, 3 step system. This review is for the 2nd step~ the in shower Acidic glaze. I have never used anything like this before but knew my color treated hair could definitely use some shine to it. So after washing with the shampoo I started spraying this once again Amazing smelling glaze all over my hair. I felt like I was in a spa and pictured myself as a warm donut with icing being dripped over me. But then… the spray started giving me trouble and it broke right off ruining my whole spa like experience. I had to just open the bottle and pour some in my hand to finish the job. I waited the several minutes while it sealed in my hair cuticles. You don’t rinse it till AFTER you put step 3, the conditioner in. I really hope they fix the cheap sprayer on this bottle as I’ve seen lots of reviews where this has happened. Okay, so I’m conflicted on this. I waited the full time I had to review this to make sure I tried it out consistently enough to have an informed opinion, but I’m still on the fence. Also, I only tested the full 3-step system, so I can’t completely speak to each item’s effectiveness on its own. First wash with this, and I literally had people asking how I did my hair differently because it looked so smooth and shiny. It was soft and silky, and definitely far beyond worth the price. The more washes, the less I noticed a difference from normal. I’d like to try alternating between this system and my normal system and see if that makes a difference, but I haven’t had enough time in the length of this campaign. In terms of the glaze alone, it’s an interesting concept! It sprays out, and feels essentially like a thin conditioner. My only concern with it is how well saturated I’m supposed to get my hair. I’m not 100% sure. That said, it does make my hair very smooth and shiny, and the whole line smells beautiful, like roses. I LOVE the packaging. It’s easy to open in the shower and it allows to get almost every last drop when you’re running low. I’d definitely be interested in trying L’Oréal’s other hair collections!danette.h

I’ve always wanted to try this brand since I have heard a lot about it from friends and coworkers, but since my hair is naturally curly, I am very particular about the brands/products I use in my hair. I can confidentially say Pureology might just be one of my go to brands now. I love that this brand uses no sulfates, parabens, formaldehyde or mineral oils to name a few. The smell is divine, which I believe is the aromatherapy blend of rose, floral ginger cedarwood according to the product description. My hair does look vibrant but to be honest I’m not sure if it’s a result of this top coat or the deep conditioning mask I use and is suggested to use in conjunction with this topcoat. The instructions obviously suggest using the entire line for ‘best results’ but I feel I you could have a much better idea of whether this product works if you use it with your regular shampoo/conditioner as well. I've tried countless shampoos and other products to reduce the brassiness of my blonde hair and haven't been fully sold on the results. I've tried the least expensive to high end salon products. This one works great, so far. After using twice, there was no need to rotate it in as frequently as the others. It's not as drying as many of the lower end products and does a better job in achieving the tone I want compared to the higher end products. I like that's it's not a shampoo, you should use after shampooing and let it sit for about 6-10 minutes, then rinse. The applicator tip is a nice touch for targeting certain areas closer to the scalp. The consistency is thick enough to really set on your hair, yet not so thick that it's difficult to spread around and get close to the roots. Initially, I used this twice during the week but think the directions call for using every 6-8 washings. After the first week, that's been accurate for me. It really tones down the yellow brassiness without leaving a dull, silver look like the more purple toners. Also, it's conditioning and leaves a nice, smooth, glossy feel. I have long hair and do go kind of heavy on the application but this will last at least a few months. I'll definitely buy again.Ad521

I love love this spray! But, the secret to keep it from getting your hair oily, spray & rub on both hands first on palms, outside of hands and between fingers. Then run it all through your hair- running the hair through your fingers and the outside/inside of your fingers. I usually will run it through my wet hair. I also use it on my dry hair but sparingly when dry. When wet, your strands will soak it in overnight. Beautiful bouncy shine next morning! I have shoulder length very thick hair. I'm not going to lie when I first applied this to my hair it started to lather up, which was a little different for me, it was really soapy but it felt like that. But I let it sit in my hair anyways hoping for the best, I'm glad I did. It rinsed out easily and left my hair with no tangles and easy to brush through. It left my hair soft and shiny. Even though it has been awhile since I dyed my hair it still made it look really good and vibrant and shinny. Will turn hair purple! I left it in for ten minutes in my bleached blonde hair (after shampooing) and it toned it a little too well. To the point it turned into a lavender/gray tint. This did nothing for the few pieces that were orangey blonde. But worked well for the light yellowy blonde hair. It should, hopefully, wash out the purple tint with a good clarifying shampoo. I would recommend using this to anyone just don’t do past the five minutes if you’ve got bleached hair. It did make my hair super shiny and healthy looking too. Overall I’m satisfied but I wish they had an option for a dirty blonde color.. like a “bronde”. Not just the cool or warm blonde. Maybe I should try the brunette options?? Also, I have very thick long hair and used about half this tube. So most likely only will get one more use out of it. Still worth it to have a cooled down blonde. Next time my hair looks a little brassy I will leave it on for five minutes max. I miss the John Frieda Glosses they had years ago that did the same thing. Was contemplating trying this for a while but was seeing mixed reviews. I eventually assumed the bad reviews were from people that just didn’t really know what they were doing… i was wrong. I have light highlighted blonde hair. I got the color Smoky bronde in hopes that it would potentially tone down my orangey yellow bronzed af hair. I used a clarifying shampoo to rid my hair of any potential interfering products/buildup, I even rinsed with a bottle of water just in case the hard water was what made this not work for people, left it on for 15 minutes despite the instructions saying 5-10 for colored hair. Rinsed it out with several bottle of water and to my surprise My hair looks no different. This is a waste of money, time, and effort. I should’ve trusted the bad reviews.Maggie

I received a free full size sample of the dpHUE Gloss+ Semi-permanent hair color and I am a fan! I am a licensed cosmetologist and I usually stay away from anything that isn't used in a professional salon setting but, after a recent color appointment left my hair over-processed and brittle, as well as too blonde I was excited to give this semipermanent hair color and deep conditioner a try. (We just moved across the country and I don't have the time right now to make it to the supply house for a toner and conditioning treatment) I received the color medium brown. The application process was so easy, I shampooed and conditioned my hair in the shower, stepped to the side and towel dried my hair and combed it out, then applied this semipermanent hair color. I left it on for the remainder of my shower, approximately 7-10 minutes. The pigment is wonderful and rich, and it leaves beautiful warm tones in your hair. If you don't wear gloves to apply, make sure you have soap on standby to clean your hands or it will stain! This product left my hair silky smooth and shiny. I was very pleased with the golden brown color it toned my hair to. I was even more pleased to see that it did not slough off on my flat iron or my white pillow cases. I've already shampooed my hair once and the color stuck around. I can tell it's lighter and that it'll continue to lighten as I shampoo, but that's the point of semipermanent hair color. I think if I was in a pinch and needed to tone my hair between color appointments I would definitely consider buying this product. I loved the ease of not having to mix this product and having both the option to apply in-shower to damp hair or to dry. I used the dark brown which was perfectly suitable for my hair color. For the first application I used the in-shower on damp hair method. This sounded like no brainer… I didn't have to worry about the product getting on anything, I was already going to wash my hair anyway, and I could quickly and easily wash my hands to prevent the pigment from staining my hands… Right? Yes, to all but the latter!!! The company does warn that darker shades can stain the skin but I never imagined that it would stain my hands the second it made contact. I had to scrub my hands with a pumice stone until they were sore and raw in order to get the stains off. You have been warned 🙂 Now fearful of what was the underestimated power of this product, I only left it on my hair for approximately 5 minutes. The results were great, as I did notice my color was a beautiful, deeper, richer version of its self prior to the treatment. Thankfully, my hair is already shiny so I am unable to review that aspect of the products claim. After 2 weeks I thought it only be fair to try this product using the dry method and left it on for the same duration of time for a most accurate comparison… This time, I used gloves 🙂 The results were equally as positive and effective without the stress of staining. Both applications were super easy, as there was no mixing, the product comes in an easy to use bottle with a pump dispenser and the formula is rich and thick making for an effortless application. I love this stuff already oh my goodness!!! I have used similar semi permanent hair colors before that worked but didn't give this kind of shine and softness to my hair. I will suggest with the black wearing gloves! It came off my hands pretty easily however. I also sat in my bathtub to relax while issuing it since it suggests leaving it on for 5-30 mins according to the color your going for. I colored my hair a few weeks ago and this helped not only sharpen the color but left my hair feeling so soft and amazing! The shine is like I just got it done professionally. I let mine on for 20 mines and rinsed out in the shower so it wouldn't stain the tub. Not sure it would but just didn't wanna chance it! The smell isn't super fragrant or anything but it doesn't smell terrible or like strong hair color smell. It's also not messy is stays in place. I washed my hair and let it dry a bit to wear it wasn't dripping then applied it to my damp hair rolled it up in a make shift bun on top of my head and let it do it's magic! I am in love with this already! I have very long hair it's not super thick but I applied quite a bit for coverage. I can see me going through this pretty quick but it's worth it to me for the shine alone. I strongly suggest. I used to have red in my hair and used a similar product that always left a weird smell and almost film feeling to my hair. It left it sticky after it dried but did help the length of my color. However this is now my new color extender choice. Way better results.Kace

I recently received this complimentary VoxBox campaign for Clairol GlossUp Semi Permanent Instant Expressive haircolor in the mail from Influenster, in exchange for my honest review. I am rating this dye largely in terms of ingredients, which seem to be significantly less harmful on the overall health of my hair as compared with other standard permanent boxes dyes, and also even the bold color (dark purple and pink) semi permanent dyes I have used from other companies before; Artic Fox and Punky Color, respectively speaking. I appreciate that it does not have a high alcohol content, nor does it contain other ingredients which are often considered callout harmful ingredients in consumer products, such as parabens or sulfates, among others. I applied this semi permanent dye to my hair which is on the thinner side and prone to breakage/split ends with severe damage at times including up to four splits per hair end, genuinely. My scalp is generally on the average to oilier side depending on the day, my activities or time spent in humid weather, and such. While I did not find this dye particularly harmful to the health of my hair and even rather, had a slight initial conditioning effect, the lasting power of the color on my hair when using this product, I would consider subpar compared with semipermanent dyes and even color depositing shampoos I have used from other companies before. I found that this particular semi permanent dye lasted only about 3-4 days near regular color impact or original intensity before fading substantially and rapidly. I found this aspect of the product disappointing, personally. This was the most disappointing aspect of the product overall, probably. The application process for this dye was relatively simple from my experience with using it so far. As stated on the packaging, the dye should be evenly distributed throughout all areas of already clean and somewhat damp hair. As stated, it can be left on one's damp hair from 2 to 15 minutes depending on your current hair type and condition as well as the desired end results, including saturation and intensity. I left it in my hair for probably between 13 and 15 minutes each application; I have used the product a few times since receiving the campaign box in the mail not too long ago. I am disappointed with the price point relative to lasting power of the original color which as I mentioned, was not all that long on my hair in comparison with other semi permanent dyes I have used from different companies in the past. I like the general idea behind a semi permanent dye with less alcohol content and less of other potentially harmful ingredients. However given the fact that this dye was extremely temporary from my perspective even as semi permanent dyes go, 4 stars is the absolute most I would ever give this product; I would probably do 3.5 instead, were that an available reviewing option on this platform, which it isn't as of now. Given the poor lasting power I would be hesitant to recommend this specific shade of the product to others, however at the price point I see it being sold for online and based on reviews I have read of other shades and people with different hair types than myself on this platform so far, it may be something I would consider recommending to others, depending upon their hair type, conditions, color preferences, and overall end goals including saturation and longevity of the dye beyond a few days or so. It is an ok product but I feel the price point is honestly a bit too high as it stands. …Excuse the brief update: I had been under the impression there was not a high alcohol content in this product but I double checked and discovered that's actually inaccurate. There is cetearyl alcohol fairly high up on the ingredients list for this product at least as stated on the packaging (bottom square part), so if that is a concern to you for the overall health of your hair or any other reason(s) please be sure to keep that in mind when considering whether or not this may be a product you would like to consider giving a try. I did not see parabens listed however, as I had initially been thinking, so if that is something you consider an important thing to check on with your hair products, rest assured, they aren't in there at all.
I was excited to hear I was selected for this campaign. I’ve had vivid hair for almost 2 years now and constantly researching/searching for products that can not only extend my color but protect the health of my hair. Gloss up appeared as if it could help me attain that. This color specifically is meant for pre lightened hair- not darker blondes or brown as is mine. Now it's been a minute since I had mine done. First impressions: The packaging is typical of the brand, you can recognize who it is even if you removed the name. I was surprised to find nothing but the tube of gloss inside, no institutions no gloves just the conditioner. The cap for the packaging is impossible.. The conditioner itself is thick- like a paste with almost a waxy feel to it, but not in a bad way. The color matched the intended dye with a glittery sheen to it. It coated well and was smooth but the greatest part of all about this was the scent. It smells like HT tanning oil or sunscreen. I opted to try a few lighter strands that outlined my face, my hair was clean but not damp but I went ahead and tried it anyway. It coated very well and wasn't hard to distribute cleanly and evenly and that smell….I am seriously digging the scent. The side of the box did mention an incubation time from 2-15 minutes…let's just say I went with the 15. With the consistency of the product I dont think it's something you have to shampoo out, it does say to rinse and style as a usual so i did just that. Despite its thickness it wasn't difficult to wash out and my hair did feel soft, smooth, moisturized and smelled like a beach lovers dream. I can't say I was disappointed because I didn't figure I'd see a change. Aside from a deep conditioning affect my trial hair looked the same. So the next day I opted for my whole head. It says on line it can be used as often as you like, what did I have to lose? If nothing else my whole head would look as if though I had a luxurious deep conditioning treatment done if by change some color popped on through, Id call it a win either way. Putting the fact that I didn't have extra gloves aside I was genuinely curious if this would stain my hands at all since it had little effect to my hair…and I solemnly swear as I raise my seafoam tinted right hand that yes it has a color to it. I admit I’m guilty for leaving it on for more than the 15..but with a scent that drives you right back to those teenage beach bum gushing over your hot surfer crush memories can you blame me? I also wanted to give the subtle teal a chance on my locks. Final rinse and same as before there appears b grt fer to be little difference, my hair feels as if it were draped in divine luxury, the color was much the same. My conclusive. Conditions very well, doesn't weigh down your hair despite how thick the product is. Love the concept and the ease of use.grecia.m
I was really excited to use this product because I love the color glosses they do at the salon. When I tried it the first time, I will admit I was really unhappy initially. The tube comes in a box, yet no gloves?! Gloves are STRONGLY recommended in my experience and I believe it mentions needing them on the packaging so it’s frustrating that they even bother to sell it in a box without gloves. The dye stains your hands very quickly as well as your body, scalp shower (literally everything). And my color was extremely dark and is a dark inky, goopy mess. It is very hard to get off of everything and the stains have actually not come off my shower walls. Your hair needs to be wet to use it, but I would not recommend doing it in the shower. You really need to have some sort of dark raggy t-shirt on or a dark towel and to do it in the mirror due to the mess. That being said, I did like the results here and there. I’ve used it many times since receiving it (10 times) so I’ve gotten a pretty solid idea of the product in and out. There are definitely pros and cons. My hair is dark brown with highlighted hair that has turned brassy, so I like that it filled my hair with an ashy overtone and makes my hair overall a nice, finished looking more “complete” tone. It could be a great back up for those with dyed hair in between color treatments for an event or something. However, this particular color can be sort of green especially noticeable after a few tries. It definitely does not last 10 washes like it claims for me it lasts 1 wash. I’m sure it has a lot to do with hair porosity but this was a disappointment for me. I would much rather pay the same price as this bottle for permanent dye or toner, knowing that at least it’ll last 10 washes or more and be worth the damage. It does make your hair shiny and soft until the next time you wash your hair, but is not worth the amount of mess and effort for such fleeting results. After the gloss and color wash out those on wash 2, expect your hair to be back to the color it was prior to using this and be extremely dry and honestly a bit damaged. I did notice some fall out each time I used it I was not experiencing before. I could see this being a really good choice for a parent looking to try with their child just for fun, especially the fashion colors! I could also see it being an excellent wash-out temporary color for like a Halloween costume. I think overall they had the right idea with the product in general, it’s definitely like they were going for a super cheap dupe for overtone conditioning colors, but just nowhere near as nourishing or effective for your hair.lexy.b

I was SO excited to try this new product from Amika as I usually love ALL of their products. Unfortunately this one disappointed me. It doesn't have the trademark Amika scent – it smells pretty bad and it leaves my hair oily after just a day. Wish Amika could reformulate this so it's more like the Bumble and Bumble Dry Oil I use. it's so light and you can pre spray your hair with it and use a flatiron – not just a top spray. Since it's not available for return, I guess i'll be selling it online. Sorry Amika – please make it more 'Amika' – and more like the Bumble and Bumble Dry Oil and you'll have a winner!Betsy
i'm not sure what is in this spray that makes it smell the way that it does but it is TERRIBLE. It literally smells like shoe varnish. After the initial smell wears off (right before I started to get a headache) it does add nice shine, but I would spray it on well before I needed to be around other people. it's a shame because I love the signature smell. Not sure if I got a defective item…Ash
So far I am loving the shine spray! It leaves my hair glossy & so soft to the touch! It does a great job at keeping my frizz and flyaways at bay as well. It doesn't make my hair feel heavy or greasy at all which i'm so glad about! The only reason I give it 4 stars is because I dont love the smell. It isn't the Signature amika scent – it's almost like a cross between a hair spray smell and citrus – which just doesn't smell the greatest to me. Luckily though the smell dissipates quickly in the air – the smell doesnt linger in my hair which i'm glad about. overall I like this product a lot & am glad I purchased it. i've added it to my daily hair routine.Jess J.
