I've used various Mousse products in the past, but they all tended to dull my fine, straight hair, while also making it look a bit fuzzy. BUT THIS MOUSSE doesn't do that! It maintains a nice shine and gives gentle lift that I need for my Bobbed style haircut. It is not as strong of a hold as I would desire, but it does provide some hold, and it is so much nicer than chemical laden products. Love that it is clean and actually helpful, rather than harmful to the health of my hair.
This Mousse is wonderful! I have 2b fine curls, so I don’t get much volume naturally. My hair lies pretty flat without products. However, this works great. I especially appreciate it because some cheap quality hair products cause me to have breakouts around the hairline, not EVOLVh!

When i rub this product into my hands to apply to my hair it has a very off putting smell. I have used it a few times and it has done nothing for my hair as far as how it looks after i use it and does not make my hair smell nice. Man I love this stuff. I use a curl refresh spray from Sexy Hair (I think, it's a blue can) for day two curls, and this stuff for days three to five. It's a little too heavy for clean hair but perfect for all the other days. There is a learning curve. Too much will make hair crunchy and gross, too little will do nothing. It took two uses to find the right amount for my hair. I have shoulder length wavy/curly hair, medium fine thickness with A LOT of hair. I pump four times in my hands and prayer hand it down a clump of hair as wide as my palms. It takes me four goes to get around my whole head. Then I scrunch lightly and done! I wanted firm hold and that’s what I got. Actually, I thought I wanted firm hold. It’s too firm for me. I’ll finish the can, as it was a little on the high end for me. I use tiny amounts until I have my head covered. Other reviewers mentioned that a little goes a long way. They’re right. My favorite thing is the day after wash and style. My hair looks fantastic! Day of, not so much.
My hair is very dry and somewhat thick. It can get frizzy very easy depending on products, weather etc. I try and use more natural things with not as many chemicals. This for my hair is good but I feel it kind of weighs it down just a bit and creates a little build up right after use. I do use quite a bit of a good moisturizing leave-in conditioner. Have to because of the dryness. So, maybe with the extra I do , is why I feel this tends to be heavier and more weighted? I really like this mousse for my waves/curls but I wish it combated humidity. it sadly doesn't hold up throughout the hot days either, regardless of scrunching out the light crunch or not. my hair is between chin and tops of shoulders and cut shaggy so I know its not the length weighing it down and i only use one other product with it, Olaplex smoothing bond styling creme. overall though i do like it a lot. but once this bottle is finished ill be on the hunt for another mousse that can withstand the heat and humidity.kalirocker
So i had really high hopes for this because the brand looked interesting and the smell was great. I tried it once on freshly washed hair to see what it could do as a stand alone product. The answer was…. absolutely nothing. I saw my waves starting to leave their clumps even while i was putting it through my wet hair because it encouraged so much frizz. I chalked it up to not using it right so i used it again a few days later on damp unwashed hair with my normal defining cream and it looked promising! For about 2 hours after it dried at least. Then my hair was just a poofy frizzy mess. I may try it again and use my gel, but i am no lomger feeling optimistic about this product. I have been loving this Curl Foaming Gel by VerbxManesbyMell! I have been using this on my wavy/curly hair for the past 5 weeks now and have been loving the results. I personally still like to use this gel with a leave-in (conditioner or primer), and I always finish with an oil. You could definitely use this product as a one and done and it would still work great. I typically diffuse my hair when styling, but I've used this when plopping/air-drying also and have found that it works equally as well with either technique. I use this to touch up and refresh my waves and curls in between wash days. The hold is amazing but the cast is not hard or crunchy at all and is easily broken with a hair oil. If you make sure you're using the correct amount of product for your personal hair and texture, then I do not think you can do any wrong. I was mostly happy with this product; it makes my hair feel really nice and seems to have helped mitigate any heat damage from diffusing on low. However, I find it weighs my hair down a touch. There are ways around that but for me it involves using more product which I'd prefer to avoid. Despite it saying it has a gentle hold, I didn't see or feel any. That's fine with me, I have the styling foam from this line to do that, but it's kind of baffling how they have it on the bottle, lol. This has been a lifesaver for me. My hair is on the thinner side so I have needed product that would leave my hair feeling lighter instead of heavy. The product is free of parabens and other sulfates that are responsible for holding hair down. It has a wonderful scent that isn't too overwhelming. It's light and not overbearing. This keeps my curls in check and pretty all day. Something they would NEVER do without product. Does not really control my frizz on the top of my head, but does so everywhere else. I gave this to my daughter who has beautiful, thick, really long hair. So much hair that her stylist has to use 2 perms when perming her hair. The leave-in is unfortunately rather less suitable for my hair. Have very many and thick, wavy to curly hair. It makes nice soft hair, but gives me too little hold, which leads to the fact that the curls quickly "hang out" and lose definition. Also, my hair tends to get frizz from this product. Let me preface this by saying that I have bleach blonde hair from dark brown, so I know how do serious damage my locks. I don't often dry/straighten my hair for this reason but I love the look/feel. This product changes everything! I use some leave in conditioning spray (Loma) then spritz this on top, brush and dry my hair. It dramatically cuts down on drying time and reduces frizz. I love this product for many reasons. It gives me such lovely definition, volume and texture without leaving a sticky residue and the ingredients are fantastic. I also feel like it plays nicely with every other product I have tried with it. It took me awhile to figure out what application method worked best for my hair and now that I have it down, my hair comes out beautifully, not just on wash day or the day following, but for the entire week, my curls look gorgeous with very little maintenance. I prefer to style my hair with a leave in, a gel/custard/souffle and then I diffuse until it partially dry. Once my hair is 50-60% dry, I add four to eight pumps of this magical foam, focusing on the roots then working my way down the entire length, scrunching along the way, and then I resume diffusing. Excellent results, every time. To refresh, I usually slightly dampen my hair and apply a watered down version of a leave in or curl cream (gel when necessary), hit it with the diffuser and depending on what my hair needs, one or two more pumps of foam, often times, none. I was skeptical about spending almost $30 on one product, especially with my negative experiences with a different higher end brand a few years ago. But I must say, this product is totally worth it for me in regards to quality and how much I use. I get maximum results with little amount of product. I would recommend this product and will most definitely be purchasing it again and again. My curl type for those interested is predominantly 3b with some 3c and 3a mixed in. Normal porosity. I have medium length, 2a hair that's prone to frizziness. My roots can get greasy and the ends of my hair can get dry/develop split ends. I don't spend a lot of time on my hair and I don't like to use a lot of products – I'm looking for something I can put in wet hair to bring out my waves and help my hair air dry nicely. Overall, this product works pretty well for me. It does bring out my waves (albeit not as much as the toxic curl creams I've used in the past) without too much stickiness. It feels lightweight and does add a bit of volume. And, I really like the smell! It's faintly herbally/floral/citrus, without being overpowering. Overall, I'd recommend with the caveat that your expectations shouldn't be the same as traditional curl products from mainstream, prestige (non clean) haircare brands.
I’ve been using clean products for 2.5 years now but finding good hair products that actually work has been a struggle. I have straight/wavy hair so I got this to use as a root volume boost. I have long hair so it usually leaves my roots flat from the weight. I used 2 pumps on my scalp while wet then used a blow dry straightener and I was amazed at the lightness and volume! I bought thus product to use to style my lace wig. It helped style my wig perfectly upon install. By day 3 of using the foaming lotion to style my baby hair i had some irritation in my forehead but it wasn’t too bad. I took a break for a few days from using it or styling my wig & when I used it again it started to severely burn my forehead. I wiped the product off & did continued use. I took my wig off 2 days later and had a chemical burn across my entire forehead. It burned so bad & took a while to clear up. My skin is far from sensitive so I know that wasn’t the issue. During the winter time, I protect my natural hair with wigs to give my tresses a break from braids and wash and go’s. I recently bought a wavy human hair wig that will frizz with too much friction so my sister recommended this foaming mousse! This smells absolutely fantastic and a little goes a long way. I’ve had many compliments on my hair since using this product. It’s become an essential styling aid for my long wavy hair. It really helps define my waves into more refined curls and adds volume with medium hold which lasts till the following day. I’ve tried countless other “curling products” but this one tops them all… as it actually does what it claims and twists the curls into shape. I also love how it lifts and shapes the hair at the crown allowing more space between the curls so my long hair isn’t weighed down or clumped by the product. As the previously reviewer mentioned it may leave a crunchy finish, but only slightly in my opinion (in some areas with product build up). However if I apply a little at a time (scrunching in between each application) or combing through before scrunching it applies more evenly without building up in specific areas. Even if I’m in a rush and end up with a slight crunch in some areas, I just lightly run my fingers through and it breaks up any excess residue. This product in no way worked for my curly hair. There was no hold whatsoever. My hair was actually frizzy right after I applied this product. I could have put up with the odd odor had it worked. I was trying to replace the discontinued Matrix Vavoom Foam I had been using for many years.Katherine
This product does exactly what I need it to, and is very easy to use! I feel as though the more you use it, the more you see results too. Even on the first day of use my hair looked thicker, healthy, and more alive. The product is not very greasy, and washes off of the hands easily. My hair has been much more manageable and easier to style as well. This is the first hair volumizer I have ever used, and I have a feeling I will have to look no further. I have used every volumizing mousse on the market for years from expensive to inexpensive and this product I’d by far and away the best! It is true to its claims! I do not like this product. The first thing I noticed was the very strong smell to it that was like a cheap man’s cologne.it left my hair feeling like it was coated with product even when it was dry. The strong smell did not disappear after my hair was dry. My did not have any more volume to it, actually it felt weighed down and was so soft I couldn’t style it. It didn’t hold a curl at all when I used my curling iron. I wasted my money on this product.Lynne T.
