I had been using 2 sprays from this line and needed something easier to travel with so tried this on a whim. I have fine wavy hair that's chin length and cut into a choppy bob and this product is sheer perfection. You don't need much at all so it would be easy to overdo. Used correctly this is a powerful product for adding in texture and volume. A little goes a LONG way. The first time I used it I sprayed directly on my roots and so much came out it felt awful. It just takes a bit of practice to gage how much to spray, and it takes VERY little to get great results. Spraying a little into your hands and then rubbing it onto your roots works very well too. I have waist length baby fine hair and this works better than dry shampoo for me. I can go an extra 2 days w/o shampooing with this product. I do use a gentle clarifying shampoo at least once or twice a week so it doesn't build up. Very similar to Osis Dust It but more effective IMO, and I love the spray option with this one instead of having to tap or sprinkle it into your hands or onto your roots. Over lockdown I grew my hair out like a lot of people and decided to go to for a traditional barber cut afterwards ending up with a slick back style. I found my existing hair products a bit lacking so decided to look into getting more professional (if you will) products. After some research I liked the look of Uppercut's products and also their brand ideals and after browsing their site settled on the Matte Pomade. Now that I've been using it for a while and figured out the best amount and application for my hair I'm really pleased with it. It's light and not too shiny giving my hair a natural look which I really like. It also washes out well with water meaning I don't have to put my hair through shampooing every day but still working without making my hair greasy or limp a couple of days after shampooing. I do find I need to hold the sides with some hairspray but that could be down to my hair or inexperience in styling longer hair (any plans for adding hairspray to your range?). Seems quite effective in adding volume for men with a finer hair type and looking for a product that does that. Could be re-applied intra-day if desired or needed, as it is to be applied to dry hair rather than wet. I would say this also means it doesn't really combine or work very well if you try to add it after using another styling product (say you wanting it just to add more volume for example). It functions more as a standalone product from what I've found. It's meant to be fragrance free, which was important as my husband is allergic to strong fragrances. It has a very very subtle pineapple scent that is lovely, but doesn't linger so my hubby is happy. The white powder doesn't show up white on my brunette hair, it isn't too sticky feeling and it makes my hair bounce up nice and high after a fresh wash. I have dead straight, silky, fine hair, so it can look super limp after a wash. But now when I use this product at the roots it looks twice as thick and I now I feel like it looks just as nice as when I curl it. I can't praise it enough. I spend a lot of time reading reviews for all of the products I purchase, but I think this is my first time writing one (at least my first time in the past year or two)! I had to take the time to review this because it is hands-down the BEST thing I have found at Sephora. My hair is dark brown, but started going gray when I was like 24 (genes, ugh) and I am RELIGIOUS about keeping my roots touched up and maintaining as close to my natural hair color as humanly possible. People are always shocked if / when I mention I color my hair. All of that background is to say that quarantine posed a huge problem for me! I love this stuff because my hair is also thin and fine, so I have to wash it pretty frequently—but even with the best color-safe shampoo, washing strips the color. This product: 1. Drastically extends the time I can go between shampooing & keeps my hair looking fresh and full of body, as opposed to greasy/stringy/lifeless. 2. SAVES MY ROOTS!!! The brown blends in PERFECTLY. You would never ever know that I have gray hair coming in, thank god, even after months of social distancing in Boston. 3. Last but not least, it doesn’t leave the typical dry shampoo residue / tell-tale white powder & smell. Again: SO HAPPY FOR THE BROWN COLOR!!! Overall, I love it. I actually use it now preemptively; so, if I know I’m going to spend the night at my boyfriend’s, I’ll take a shower and wash my hair as normal and then use it to touch up my roots before I sleep there and my hair continues to look clean, full, and without any hint of gray overnight until the next day and even when I stay all weekend. The salon I visit uses B & B products and I have always been pleased with the results. I also have three of the products which I use at home. As we are in lockdown I thought I would try the hair powder to cover my roots. I gave the container a really good shake and applied as instructed. Unfortunately the first two sprays came out in blobs covering my face and top ! When I did manage to get it on my roots it just turned my light grey to dark grey. Looked dreadful. I have used Loreal root cover spray in the past and this does actually does cover the grey very well. I thought the B & B product would be superior, given the price, and the other products I have tried but unfortunately this was not the case. Back to Loreal for me. A bad experience I am afraid.Dee
OK I LOVE this product, but its only because I use it NOT as a dry shampoo, but instead as more of a 'thickening' spray for covering up spots of my hair hair that are thinning, especially around the hairline. For this it works wonders! 1) The color comes out BROWN (Im a light brunette), so if you are a true blonde this color will NOT work for you. 2) It does leave you hair feeling a little thick and 'powdery' in the spots where you use it, so be aware of that. 3) I use it around my hairline to fill in the 'sparse' areas, and then I brush it in with a hairbrush. The difference it makes in creating the appearance of a fuller hairline is amazing, and it's given me confidence back to wear my hair in certain styles! 4) I have had 0 issues myself with the product 'transferring' to clothes etc. after it's been applied and has dried. After I apply it I don't have to 'worry' about it anymore. I am even very impressed that even after going to the gym etc there is NO 'running' or transfer of this product! 5) The only downside for me is that it is quite pricey and the bottle doesn't last that long, as a lot comes out every time you spray. However, I keep coming back to this product as the cheaper 'dupes' I've tried from the drugstore either don't match my hair color nearly as nicely, OR I find that the cheaper products do tend to 'run' or transfer color.MillieBrowne

The powder works. It gives your hair volume by kinda creating really small tangles and friction in your hair. It's super light (so light that I thought the bottle was empty) and doesn't leave a white cast. The only problem is that it's far too expensive. At roughly $25 CAD ($19.50 USD), it's three times more expensive than the Schwarzkopf styliste Ultime Biotin+Volume Volume Powder, which you can buy at Walmart for $9 CAD. Not exactly sure what I was expecting when I got this product since I had never used a powder like this before and I only saw it work in youtube videos. First time I used it I applied way too much and my hair was like a thick mess. This stuff holds the hair together like crazy and it was impossible to comb or do anything with it. It does say 'a little goes a long way, do not overapply' on the bottel and they weren't joking lol. I use alot less now and this stuff is AMAZING. I don't really know how it works or really how to really describe what it feels like, but it definitely gives my hair crazy volume and helps keep my hair in place. I showed my friends the bottle–it feels like nothing is in it! we "Oohed and Aahed" over this mystery product and were mesmerized by the little plumes that emit when tapped lightly over your head. I came across this stuff while on the web searching for hair products. I've tried everything on the market. I have very fine, unmanageable hair that, no matter how it's cut or how long or short, it looks terrible without product in it. And I could never find the right product. Either too greasy or too hard or I didn't like the results. I feel my hair always looked terrible.Yes, I was that kid back in forth grade with the bowl cut. Now I have medium-length hair that I keep short/clippered on the sides and back and I'm growing the front long. I guess I'm just not sure how to "use" the product. I LOVE the Batiste dry shampoo in the aerosol can, I swear by it and am constantly converting people to it. I figured that the xxl powder would offer a similar result, but would be better for going through TSA since I travel so often. ABSOLUTELY NOT. I shook the powder into my hair and immediately it felt tacky, and like I had slept in a pile of dirt and super-strong-hold hairspray. When I tried to wash it out the next morning, I had to shampoo FOUR times + soaking my locks in conditioner before it event STARTED to feel like hair again. Hours later, when I comb through my bangs, there is still resistance that I don't normally have. I received this as a GWP and was excited to try a product that would help create volume to my naturally flat, straight hair. I tried it.. And I do not like it. It has a sticky, tacky feeling to it even though it’s powder. So much so, I had to wash my hands thoroughly after using to get the residue off. I used it on Halloween to give my hair a messy, unkempt look to go along with my pirate costume. I guess it worked? I don’t know. I couldn’t really focus on the results because of how badly the product felts on my hands, but I can say my hair looked normal within an hour (as shown in photo with my face-painted kiddo). It's super cheap, my hair does not fall flat after an hour, I'll wake up the next morning after using it and still have volume, it's insane! I will say it does cause a weird texture to the hair and makes it almost feel sticky and rough, but it does not look like it at all. It's a white powder, but I have even used it while my hair was a brunette color and it blended easily unlike some dry shampoos that are white etc. It is also super easy to apply and while this bottle may look small, it lasts months. This is the strangest product I've ever used. I can't figure out how it works – but it does! And it's fabulous! I had been using 2 sprays from this line and needed something easier to travel with so tried this on a whim. I have fine wavy hair that's chin length and cut into a choppy bob and this product is sheer perfection. You don't need much at all so it would be easy to overdo. Doesn't make hair heavy or stiff and mine stays "inflated" all day! The only downside is that it feels very tangled (it's not but that's the only way I can describe it) at the end of the day if I try to brush it out before bed. Used correctly this is a powerful product for adding in texture and volume. A little goes a LONG way. The first time I used it I sprayed directly on my roots and so much came out it felt awful. It just takes a bit of practice to gage how much to spray, and it takes VERY little to get great results. Spraying a little into your hands and then rubbing it onto your roots works very well too. I have waist length baby fine hair and this works better than dry shampoo for me. I can go an extra 2 days w/o shampooing with this product. I do use a gentle clarifying shampoo at least once or twice a week so it doesn't build up. Very similar to Osis Dust It but more effective IMO, and I love the spray option with this one instead of having to tap or sprinkle it into your hands or onto your roots. This is literally THE best texturizing product that I've ever used. I've tried everything in all different price ranges- including the very expensive Oribe texture spray-this wins hands down. I gave this 3 stars only because of the new delivery system with the bulky pump. Actually I was being generous. I have been buying this for years with the smaller bottle that fit nicely in my travel bag and was easier to control the amount used. I could sprinkle it on my fingers and more accurately place the product where I wanted it for lift and body. With the pump, I have no control of the amount dispensed so it makes my hair look dull and dry. If I try to spray it on my fingers it goes EVERYWHERE! And the new bottle is VERY bulky for travel. Wasted plastic packaging! I love the product, hate the pump. I even opened an old bottle and poured the contents of the pump bottle into it. Maybe some people like to use a lot of the product in their hair and like the pump. But for those of us with shorter hair, perhaps you could also offer it in the old shaker bottle. But now when I use this product at the roots it looks twice as thick and I now I feel like it looks just as nice as when I curl it. I can't praise it enough. I just wish this brand had prettier packaging. I'm more of a soft pinks kinda girl, rather than black and red.Melanie C.
