I was looking for a product like this for months. This product did everything that is shown in the description. It was lightweight and gave my hair body for over two days. I like this product. I've been using it for a while. It definitely has a good hold on your hair without making it look like there's anything in your hair. I would recommend maybe adding some natural ingredients to make it smell a little better, if possible. Also, I don't know who did the wrapping, but filling up the entire box with confetti paper for a small container of this cream pomade was not the move. If it's like an environmentally friendly thing, I get it, but find a new option. This rich yet lightweight cream spreads easily and provides a light hold with low shine as described. Its aroma is quite similar to Fiber and its performance is what I would imagine a light gold version of that product to be. This would be great for medium to coarse hair in short styles that seek natural control without the need for major sculpting or manipulating. This is my new favorite hair product. As someone with a lot of hair, but very fine hair, it’s hard to find a product that doesn’t weigh me down- this allows for my hair to have shape and volume that lasts. The best results I’ve had came from using a denman brush to curl my hair, smoothing the roots over once. This method achieved beautiful formed waves for three days after. Verb is much less expensive than other curl products I’ve tried and it out performs all of them. I would highly recommend this to anyone with loose curls or waves, especially those with fine frizz prone hair like me. For reference I use this after I wash my hair with a kevin murphy cowash. Wow, I love this! I was hesitant because I see a lot of influencers use it and I always worry that that over hype things. But it really does reduce frizz and hold curl. A little goes a very long way, so it is easy to overdo it. My hair is 2C/3A and I live in a pretty dry climate and this was the perfect balance. I will say it did seem to "weigh down" my hair a bit more than other products, however, I'll take slightly less volume to have non-frizzy and light curls. I love Verb products. This one was new to me, but I had to try it. Glad I did! My tired, frizzy, permed curls were dying quickly. I needed a pick- me- up for them and this did the trick. This one is the best curl cream I have ever use, is a necessity in my wash days. It has coconut oil, so it’s smells really good. This is so bomb. I have curly hair! I orginally brought it home from Dominican Republic. And it’s way better for high porosity curly hair that’s damaged. Like if your hair has been through it and it on the damaged side and needs a lot of moisture this is for you. That’s why it’s for Me lol!! Product was not what I expected after paying 15$. After washing it out my hair felt softer and the smell is great, not over powering. The gel seemed to not hold well and at times flaked up. I have to use about a table spoon size in order for it to be effective. This is not good when its such a small portion that you get. I do have thick hair so maybe that has something to do with it. I had not read carefully the fact that this product had so many drying ingredients in it, like grapefruit and ginger. I can't understand why they think is is good for the hair. I have long hair and it's thick. This product did not hold. After the water dried that was holding it in place, my hair looked like cotton candy. It was so dry and frizzy I could not control it. I recently tried this Jack Black hair gel product because I like the Jack Black shampoo and conditioner product. I have not used hair gel products before this, but as my hair is getting thinner it is becoming more difficult to control. This product keeps my hair in place without looking like I am using a product. It does a better job than hairspray in my opinion, since hair spray adhesively connects just the outside of the hair where gel provides "hold" all the way through. It also makes it easier to style my hair for the same reason.LenC1

This is hands down the best curly hair gel on the market. I use 2-3 pumps for my whole head and scrunch it in after applying a leave in conditioner to very wet hair. It starts by drying hard but then as the day goes on, your hair looks and feels so soft and the curls are still in place. If i’m looking for a stronger hold because of a slick-back ponytail or something, I usually opt for a stronger gel like Not Your Mother’s. However, I still use Uncle Funky’s Daughter every single day and it’s been excellent for my 3b hair! And CGM approved!!! Worth every penny and lasts long.Natalie

I branched out a year ago to try new products for my wavy hair and I stumbled on this one. I wasn’t sure at first because it’s a weird texture. Kinda like a watery gel. I wasn’t 100% sure it would help my hair. Omg. I was so wrong to be skeptical. This stuff is in my everyday hair arsenal. I scrunch this into my wet hair after a shower. Sometimes it’s all I use and it leaves my hair soft and gently defined. If I want stronger definition, I add in Marc Anthony’s curly mousse right after this and scrunch it in with a t-shirt then let air dry. Once dry, I scrunch with my hands or a t-shirt to get the “crunch” out and my hair looks so good after. It holds the waves in nicely all day long and strong.kelly.w

Feels just like snot!! And gets the job DONE! So just so that you know, I’m a lazy 4C natural. Meaning I do bare minimum to maintain a few strands of hair on my non-chemically treated hair. I literally do not use styling products, partially out of laziness but even more so out of fear of breakage and dryness etc. I took a chance, and for the first tome in years, I tried a styling product, and this was it. It’s a gel with the exact consistency of snot. First wash your hair, condition, leave in condition or whatever, and then while your hair is still soaking wet, apply a GENEROUS amount. Finger detangle/shingle/whatever you to that usually gets a little more definition in your hair and boom. Soft not crunchy curls. Such an amazing hold without feeling like your hair is going to fall out. No flaking. I am about 1 year into my CGM journey, and at this point – I rarely find products that work as well as my hair's natural oils. Even though I try to avoid shampoo, when I do use it (before hot tools or after about 3-4 weeks of conditioner rinses) I need to add a bit of moisture to make up for what I've rid my curls of. I tried this product after a wash day. It is one of the only products I've tried recently that actually feels natural in my hair. It helps to define curls and rid frizz. It dries with a light cast, but just enough for my hair to clump not enough to leave a waxy/dry texture like other competing products. I rarely feel comfortable using only one product. It's either a natural look sans products, or a mix of products (leave-in, oil, cream, maybe gel and spray etc., Depending on the style). This product is a mix of both worlds; leaves my hair natural looking without being too fluffy, yet offers enough moisture and oil for clumping without being heavy. Love the shine it adds. Ouai Curl Crème saves time for me since it's a cream + oil + hydrator + styling product. Great for traveling with. Easy to refresh dry hair with or style wet hair with. The scent is so luxuriously floral yet sweet, the packaging looks elegantly simple, and the bit about the "ex" on the packaging gave me a good chuckle. Ouai Curl Crème has my curls screaming, "oui, oui!" I have natural roots, ends relaxed and dyed (damaged), mix of curl textures (2b-3c), long length. This product is clearly a creme that is not shy to define, and give your hair a subtle yet noticeable shine. IMMEDIATELY after drenching my hair in water, and applying the product, I barely had to touch my hair, and the definition was VERY apparent. Y'all, when I say, I was shook… I have never in all of my 21 years of life had a product instantly define my hair upon application. I barely had to finger comb. It for sure provides a nice element of moisture as well, and I find that the more I've used it these past couple of weeks, the softer my hair is getting. I'm not 100% sure if it's this product, or some of the other products that I've been using in my hair for the time being, but I do know that this is clearly the moisture and defining agent in the squad of hair products I've been using. This product has chia & linseed oil, babassu oil, and coconut oil in it, which are clearly carrying the product and running so that it doesn't even have to jog on it's own. Babassu oil is known as an oil that promotes high moisture retention, which seals the moisture into your hair shaft (ideal for high porosity hair types), and you know lack of moisture retaining products in your haircare routine is one of the #1 causes for breakage. Chia seeds are rich in fatty acids which work to not only penetrate your hair shaft (great for low porosity hair types), but seal in the moisture as well. Linseed oil is the same as flaxseed oil, which is high in vitamin E, and not only treats hair loss, but promotes growth. For my dry scalp peeps, flaxseed oil also can be used to prevent dandruff, and can provide relief. If you have damaged hair, or chemically processed hair, this is very ideal, since it has great moisture retaining properties, and it seals damaged cuticles. I have pretty curly hair but it's very fine and I was worried this cream would be too heavy but that is not the case at all! I use this on my hair while it's wet by section with a denman brush and my curls look incredible. if you diffuse, it creates a great mask for the curls that you can brush out after. my curls seriously last 3 days through workouts, sleep (I plop/pineapple my hair without a bonnet and they stay!) DC humidity, all of it. I used this many years ago when I was relaxing my hair to smooth it while drying under hood dryers. When I transitioned to natural hair, I tried almost every product on the market until I got my hair cut and asked the stylist what she liked for natural hair. When she mentioned this product I remembered the results on relaxed hair so I bought some immediately. I wash and apply about a quarter size amount twice to my hair which is short on the sides and long on top. I can easily detangle the top and twist single curls all over; let them dry and pull apart the next day for fabulous curls that last the week. I still two strand twist them anyway at nite but there really is no need. My hair is thick 4B/C and this gives it moisture and shine. I also use a twist sponge with the product on the sides to make the curls pop – loads of compliments and looks of approval. The 8oz bottle will last months; a little goes a Loooonnnggg way.KP

I have natural/4a hair. I used this product after taking down a 6 week protective. I started off by shampooing with the TGIN Rosewater hydrating shampoo ( Which I LOVE). After that, I applied this protein treatment for about 10-15 mins. I immediately followed up with the TGIN Moisture Deep Conditioning Mask.. it left my hair feeling amazingly healthy.My hair went from feeling limp and brown to shedding and breakage, to strong and resilient to shedding & breakage. For anyone who doesn't know- protein treatments HAVE TO BE USED WITH A HYDRATING/ MOISTURIZING conditioner as the second step. I am wearing my hair curly and it's hard to tell if my hair is stronger. It did leave my hair feeling dry and I left it in without heat for thirty minutes under a shower cap wrapped in a bath towel. I have been experiencing a lot of split ends, breakage along the shaft and just overall not happy with my hair journey so I am praying for good results. Use this in my 1 yr old’s fine, curly hair as a daily moisturizer along with aloe vera juice and essential oils. I also use it to style her hair, either method keeps her curls soft, moisturized and detangled, while helping to hold her style in place. My texture is thick and curly and my hair has the same results. I do not use it to hold my styles as my texture is too thick and requires more hold. Smells Amazing!First. This smells EXACTLY like a product my hairdresser uses, and it is delicious! I am certain that this is a great product for some people. My problem is that I have ultra fine/2b wavy hair that gets dry and brittle easy but also gets greasy, flat and build up easy and it hates silicones PEG's (which are in 95% of every hair product) keratin proteins and alcohols (that's what we know for sure.. ) And this has PEG as the #2 ingredient. My hair had frizz and dried patches almost immediately after putting a very small amount into my dripping wet hair. Though dry/frizz is ALWAYS a bad sign for me, I went ahead and let my hair dry instead of washing the product out (I wanted to really see how it would work, because I really wanted this to be a good product for me). I've been using this product with great results for several months now. It helped to watch the YouTube video where Taliah Waajid demonstrates how to use it properly. You section your hair and put a little on small sections of hair at a time until you have covered every single strand. Amazingly, it is okay to "handle" your hair and pull it through; it doesn't hurt the curls. Afterwards I give it a little time to rest before blow drying. I’m a 62 yr old woman with naturally curly hair past my waist. My hair, not extensions. I don’t blow-dry my hair or use curling implements. Every once in a long while (like 5years) I will use my ceramic flat iron just to have a different look for an occasion. But I’m a wash-and-wear woman. I live in Florida, and had not yet found a product that kept my hair from frizzing. I’ve used PM products in the past and liked them. Especially the Super Skinny Serum. So when I came across this product at a salon I decided to give it a try. It keeps my hair smooth without weighing down the curls. Once dry it can be a bit “crunchy” like a lot of leave in products. But i’ve found that gently scrunching my dry curls breaks it up, and leaves my hair soft, shiny, and curly. Unfortunately, as with other reviewers, I find small chunks of white in my hair after applying, even with pumping it into one of my palms and then vigorously rubbing my palms together to warm and emulsify the product. With as much hair as I have, combing through my wet curls and picking out the chunks is tedious. Will it keep me from using the product? Doubtful. Simply because it really makes my hair look lovely. I have 2c mid back length hair. I tried this product alone without any other products. It smelled good while applying but left no other scent once dry. I scrunched this in and allowed to air dry. Once my hair was completely dry there was no defined curls. It wasn't crunchy. It seemed to weigh my hair down. I tried using less the next time and still no results I was looking for. I've been using this brand for a few years. Recently I tried a cheaper brand but it was not the same. I am 60 years and my hair has become coarse. Also, I use henna on my hair which tends to dry it a little on the ends. My hair is very long so the ends get dry and brittle. I use this hair cream on the bottom half of my hair. Its nothing like the old product and there was picture of the same brown bottle for which I have purchased from Sally's before not Walmart. I was expecting to see the brown bottle. It appears that the picture on the website wasn't updated on Walmart Site . I was charged for the price of the size of that brown bottle not the product that was sent in a different bottle and of a smaller size containing a lesser amount from the same company. This product isn't horrible but it isn't good either. I read the reviews and people loved it but unfortunately it didn't work for me nor would I buy it again as I'm returning mine. It didn't remove the frizz from my hair, it actually weighed my curls down. I have fine, thin 3A curls, about 50% grey. I liked Pura D'or's Curl Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner so much, I decided to give the curl cream a try. The consistency is very thick, almost a paste. The smell is herbal, not the coconut or flowery smell curl creams tend to have. (Probably because it's marketed as a unisex product.) The smell doesn't linger once it dries. I was a little hesitant to use such a thick product on fine, thin hair, but it works. I used a pea-sized amount on wet shoulder length hair and my hair isn't weighed down at all. In fact, I have more volume than normal. My curls are bouncy, shiny and soft. I used gel over the cream because my hair frizzes up if you look at it too hard, so I can't speak to the curl cream's ability to prevent frizz. It definitely moisturizes.F. Bav

I received this sample size product complimentary to try from Influenster and Moroccanoil for my honest review and opinion. I really liked the smell of this cream. My hair is kinda weird it’s curly underneath but on top it’s more wavy and frizzy. The parts where my hair is naturally more curly curled super pretty and looked great but the wavier pieces it didn’t change much. It felt a little heavy also but I may have just used to much product. I feel i would need to use it a few more times to give a more accurate review but right now I’d say it’s an average curl defining cream. I also let my hair air dry and I’m curious how it would look if I used a diffuser. I think I’ll end up buying a full size and give it a try. I LOVE this product and this whole brand. I was sent a sample of the curl defining cream and the smell won me over instantly. It just makes your hair smell so good. My husband thought it was my shampoo or conditioner, but he told me my hair smelt so good the first time I used this product. I even went and bought the perfect defense heat protector spray after they sent me this sample. I use it after I curl my hair with my straightener and it just makes my hair smell amazing, reduces any frizz left, and makes my curls bouncy. I also let my daughter use it and she loved it as well. She has super curly ringlets and used it after a shower and her curls looked so good. They were bouncy and frizzless. Received this as a free sample from Influenster. The sample size was a bit too small for me to get a full idea of how this product works for my hair specifically as I usually need a few weeks of use to make a fair judgement, but from a limited perspective, my takeaways are as follows: Smell- amazing, the standard MoroccanOil smell Texture- I prefer styling creams and used this in place of my current one and I did notice that this left a bit of a shell to my hair after use. If I had enough to try again, I may use a bit less product next time, though I didn’t use much. Seems pretty concentrated. If I had received a full bottle, I do think I’d continue to use it until it ran out but I don’t think I’ll be purchasing this item. Everyone’s hair is different and mine reacted sort of “meh.” Not bad but not impressive either. I picked up my usual SheaMoisture Leave In Conditioner 100% Pure Jamaican Black Castor Oil and the Taliah Waajid Curly Curl Cream right next to it. It caught my eye because the container was small and I had never heard of the brand. Plus you couldn't beat the price so I said let me just try this and worst case it's not expensive. WOOOOO let me tell you that I came on this website just to LEAVE A REVIEW because my curls are like never before!!! I almost want to return the expensive SheaMoisture Leave In. Please do yourself a favor and buy this! At first it feels stiff in your hair but rinse some water over it and MAGIC happens.Dalila

Works really well on short naturally curly or wavy hair when dry. Not greasy or oily. Washes out really clean without leaving residue. Compared several products in the store for about 1/2 before deciding to get this item. Will probably be buying this item regularly. Also, I do not use this product every day as I have found that using it maybe a few times a week ( 3 times at most or every other day) and just moving the natural texture of my hair around provides adequate grooming keeping my hair looking natural and not stiff or saturated with hair grease and gook. I have short, slightly soft, and loose curly wavy hair that is probably less coarse and kinky where the texture of this cream is stiff enough to provide definition but not so stiff that it flakes up or feels greasy to the touch. I did not expect much from this product having purchased it to fix up my hair after being unable to afford a haircut for a pending job interview. I didn't get the job but my hair still looks great from the product and save me $35 at the barber.Michael

I started using this cream because a friend of mine said that it would tame my hair LOL. I have a ton of very wavy hair that could have been very pretty curls with the right stuff well… This is definitely the right stuff. Before I've used this my hair was frizzy, wavy but not soft and silky. Once I started using this turn my curls into beautiful 1 and my hair nail looks healthy shiny and the frizzies are all gone! This cream is hands down my favorite of all time! I had been ordering it every time it came available through Ipsy, but was so excited to find it at ULTA with a whole family of Cake products at such a good price! I absolutely love this product. It smells great, but isn’t overpowering. It works great on my hair, tames the frizz, defines my curls and makes my hair look and feel super soft. No stiffness! I would highly recommend this product to anyone with natural curly hair. It performs far better than many more expensive products I have tried! I had high hopes for this product since I love their hair spray so much, but it leaves way too much icky residue on my waves. I have fine high-porosity 2B hair down to my mid-back, and only used a quarter-sized blob on lengths before air-drying (I don't use gel or mousse on top when it's just casual styling). Once my hair is detangled with a Denman-type brush and the waves are formed, I don't touch it so as not to disturb the curl clumps (that's the secret for pretty mermaid waves) I was very disappointed and surprised to feel how sticky my hair was after it was dried. There was so much icky product residue I could feel it on my hands, I literally had to wash my hands every time I touched my hair. I tried using even smaller amounts but it felt the same. My waves came out nice, but I just can't handle sticky residue when other products can hold my waves just as well without the stickiness. Maybe it's because I have fine hair, and the product would be better suited for thick/coarse hair? It's possible. In any case, This curl cream is going in the box of rejects I bring to my hair stylist.Missy13

I don't usually leave reviews for beauty products, but I have to say that I finally found hair products that work for my fine, frizzy, curly hair. I was skeptical but decided to give the Cake product line a try because it wasn't too expensive and Ulta was having a sale. I used DevaCurl for a long time, but recently noticed changes to their products. As a result, I started looking for replacement products and have tried Aveda, Quidad, Curlsmith, Not Your Mothers and a ton of other curly hair products that either didn't have enough hold or had too much hold. I have been searching for products that define my curls without frizz and this curl cream along with the Cake mousse is perfect! I style my hair right out of the shower. I start with Cake's leave-in conditioner spray. I use the Cake mousse to give my hair hold and volume and style with the curl cream using the styling techniques I learned from watching #manesbymell. I am pretty sensitive when it comes to smell and all of the products consistently smell the same, which is good when you using several at a time. The smell is sweet, but it is not overpowering.
