20 Best Hair Product For Matte Finish (Feb 2023 Update)

As a lover of vintage fashion, I'd heard many good things about this pomade, but having fine, wavy hair made sculpted styles nearly impossible. Combine that with hair that's starting to thin, and you realize that maybe long hair isn't your thing… However, it turns out Suavecita is a short-haired girl's best friend! I recently had my hair cut into an asymmetrical pixie, and needed a product that would allow for frizz control and texture enhancement, without weighing my hair down or making it sticky. Not only does it help fight frizz (mega important if you live somewhere with humid summers), it gives a ton of dimension and texture to wavy hair, and makes training your cowlicks a breeze! A tiny bit goes a very long way, and you can always add more if you need to. If that's not enough to convince you, it also smells really good, and washes out easily. Why are you still reading this? I think I may have a bad batch. It's basically a solid bar of soap. Nothing like the video. There's no way to remove a dab. I have to pull the whole puck out of the can and lather it up in my hands with a little water like I'm washing my hands, then drop the block back in the can. Although hard to apply, it's is a great pomade! Holds up to the Texas heat and humidity. It will get a little crunchy towards the end of the day, but it's not bad. There is also some Murray's-like buildup after a few days that takes a couple shampoos to get out.Long C.

Suavecito is the best smelling pomade hands down. I use this particularly for work and it holds well all day. I have a gentleman’s cut combover and makes my cut look 10/10. This doesn’t weigh my hair down or make it seem thin and greasy. I alternate between a few pomades that I find occasion fitting. High shine, extra hold, a lot of sun or possible rain, certain pomades hold different and there’s one for all occasions. The consistency on the “light hold” is definitely “lighter” than the traditional suavecito which is fine and what I wanted. I didn’t want a hard hold and this is soft to medium hold. For best results-this should be applied specifically to showered dried hair. This should not be applied to damp or wet hair. Enjoy!michael .b

My hair is thin and wavy, with low porosity. I rarely wear it in its natural state, opting to dry with a round blow-dryer brush and flat iron. SCENT: This reminds me of the Melrose Place scent, and is noticeable upon spritzing, but fades rather quickly. TEXTURE: A little goes a long way. The right amount gives my hair volume; too much gave it a crispy texture. Overall: I tried this four different ways, With varying degrees of success. First, using my everyday product routine, using Kérastase Nutritive Nectar, Color WOW Dream Coat and Olaplex #6 on the ends of my hair. I misted the OUAI all over, then sectioned and twisted my hair, pinning each section at the bottom and air drying. The result was a somewhat frizzy mess. Second, I used it as a substitute for dry shampoo (which I do not use) to see if it would ‘wake up’ and refresh day-old washed hair. Unfortunately this made my hair look greasy, so that was a quick no-go. Third, I used a curl defining cream (MoroccanOil Curl Cream) and sprayed the Ouai, repeating the styling steps above, and gently blow drying after allowing my hair to air dry for about a half hour. This combination gave my hair very soft, natural-looking waves that I pulled up into a ponytail. This look lasted all day, through being out in the sun, heat, and misters. It was a style I have attempted before, but by the end of the day it is usually flat. This was encouraging! On my fourth and final attempt, I used the curl cream, repeated the original styling steps, and used a diffuser to blow dry my hair. This resulted in slightly defined waves that felt a little crispy, with an overall voluminous effect. Final Thoughts: This is not a product that I would use often, only due to the texture/thickness of my hair. Although it does provide some added volume, finding the right balance between full and crunchy is tricky. For someone who washes their hair 2-3x a week, this can be a tricky product to use. I have 2B hair, and a lot of it, but my hair texture is very fine, unlike many people with strong natural wave patterns. Curl creams tend to weigh down my hair, making it flat and greasy. Salt sprays are of course drying and damaging in the long term. But Ouai Wave Spray is the perfect product! It has the nourishment and definition which other people can get from the shea butter heavy creams, all in such an easy and light manner! I simply rake the spray through my hair and scrunch with it right out of the shower then use a medium-hold gel to maintain definition throughout the day. For reference, I have very long, curly and dry hair. Having curly hair, I don’t need that much help to show some waves so I use this product as a touch up. PROS – It controls the fizz on my hair. – It helps redefine my curls after several days since washing my hair. – It smells so good (in my opinion) so I love to spray it on my hair even just to enjoy the perfume. If you don’t like strong scents, stay away from this one. – The spray delivers the product very evenly. – Reasonably priced. – Cruelty free. CONS – It tends to dry my hair so it is a good option on these humid Florida summer days but I won’t be able to use it during the winter. I cannot use it everyday because of this reason. – I have curly hair so I don’t have volume issues so I cannot say if it adds volume.sara.a

After being tempted for a long time, I recently decided to try Patricks. My only regret was that I didn’t try it sooner! This stuff is truly in a league of its own. I’ve always bought quality grooming products, most notably I’d been using Morris Motley for years (fantastic as well). I didn’t think it could get any better… I was wrong. I recently purchased the M2, SH1, and CD1 products and they are undisputedly the best products I’ve ever used. The M2 is simply perfect for my medium-thick hair and the smell is so good, I’d purchase it as a cologne. They nailed every detail, right down to the packaging. M2 has been my favourite styling product for a while. It’s definitely medium to light hold, but it works well with my hair and leaves a really natural look throughout the day. No residue, flakes, or oiliness whatsoever, and it washes out easily with SH2. It also smells great. I have sensitive skin and can react to some products, but no worries here. It might look pricey but it lasts ages and the ingredients are top notch. Let’s face it, all the Patricks stuff looks cool in the bathroom too.Anonymous

his was one of the first products I tried and have been using it ever since. I mostly use it in slightly damp hair but have also occasionally used it in dry hair for a firmer hold. The feel is great and the hold in the hair is awesome but one of the biggest stand outs of the product has to be the smell. I always get compliments on the smell. Like most of Patricks products the price is higher then many other options out there but I guess you get what you pay for.Anonymous

This stuff is magical. This does more for my hair than blowdrying. It gives you the blowdried carry and volume and an excellent hold too. Touch up with some product if you want but it might not even be necessary. This is a daily essential for me.Matthew

if you want your hair to be sleeked back but hate the shiny look and find shiny looks greasy, THIS IS WHAT YOU BUY. a little goes a looong way, i use a pea size and warm it between my pointer ans middle fingers and then smooth down my hair with an edges brush for bun days. the mattifying part even mattified any greese i did have in my hair. def get it. i also use this after i curl my hair to loosen the curls and get the beachy look, so nice.stephbarakat

Using the pomade: The product is good at taming flyaways for a slicked-back hairstyle, without the crusty feel. It does initially leave a slightly greasy appearance to your hair but that seems to go away as the product sets in. I advise melting it a bit on the back of your hand first as the pomade is quite firm. Also, don’t be put off by the colour as it brushes in clear. Pomade scent: Not a bad scent in my opinion, however I think it is far too strong. When I buy a pomade it is to style my hair with, not to add a smell to my hair. I don’t want to smell it over my shampoo and conditioner, and I certainly don’t want to smell it over my perfume as I can with this. Due to the fragrance I won’t be buying this again and I probably won’t even finish the pot I purchased. In summary, if you don’t mind the scent and strength of it than this will be a good product for you.Treenie

Now that I have a short lob, all I use is a thickening spray and styling creme (with heat protectant) when my hair is wet and then I use a very small amount of this pomade after I curl my hair. This pomade gives me that piecey look for an effortlessly undone look. After my hair is dry it takes 5 min to curl and run this into my hair and I’m ready to go. I don’t even need a texturizing spray or hair spray when I use this pomade. I rub a small amount in between my fingers before rubbing it onto my ends or other areas where I want texture, hold, and a piecey look. I tried salt sprays, texturizing sprays, and many other products before finally landing on this stuff and it makes my mornings so much easier. I find the fragrance to be pretty strong (more so than I would prefer), so if you use other products that also have fragrance, then you’ll have some competition on your hands.ByeByeBirdie1

After hearing RAVE reviews about this product, I finally took the leap and purchased a small travel sized version in the hopes that it would be the answer to my miserably limp, fine hair. Although I was wowed when I first applied it, as the day wore on, I was pretty disappointed. PROS: Smells great! I'm not as enraptured as other people seem to be with Oribe's signature scent (to me it smells like nice salon shampoo, nothing much more?), but it does feel luxurious and clean when you spray it in compared to regular high street brands which can be a bit headachey and chemical smelling. I tried it both in my roots and all over layer by layer) to see how it held up, and honestly – it looks pretty. It gives you a nice, messy, undone kind of look that is effortlessly 'rolled out of bed' voluminous and wavy. I compared one half of my head to the other when using it, and there was a definite increase in volume and it looked pretty glamorous! CONS: You cannot. Touch. Your hair. AT ALL! Once I ran my fingers through it to fluff it up a bit more, the volume seemed to collapse and disappear ENTIRELY. It was super bizarre – even my boyfriend (who watched me spray it in and subjected to my 'are you SURE it's different? Different in what way? Is it nice big? Do you like it?') was surprised at how quickly it reversed back to my normal flat hair. I ended up spraying the whole thing again to try and get it back to being voluminous – very wasteful and I only have very fine medium length hair! Also – it leaves your hair feeling ROUGH and DRY AS HELL. I bundled it up that evening and when I woke up to brush my hair out, I was shocked at how horrible and rough my hair had become! I was really not impressed at all by that point – I have used drugstore products that have left my hair feeling much better and produce reasonable volume. Really outrageous in that respect given how much Oribe charges for this. Overall, I think this is a great product if you're the kind of person who can leave their hair alone once it's all done up – otherwise, any touching will make the hair collapse again. I feel like maybe this would work well with a mousse of some kind and a shine serum (Oribe has a great one in a blue tube!). However, this is a luxury product, and I should not have to purchase and invest more products just to make this work. However, I have friends and relatives who adore this stuff and swear by it. I'd still recommend it if you're already quite good at styling hair and you have lots of hair products already in your routine. But for me, it's going back to the store in a returns box!mun

I highly recommend all Oribe products especially this amazing texturizing spray it adds life back to hair especially day after washing it. I first used this 10 years ago for my wedding my hair stylist used this to create my beautiful wedding hair. I’ve been addicted ever since. I received the ORIBE dry texturizing spray free for testing purposes from Influenster and Oribe. I have long fine hair that gets extremely oily within hours after washing my hair. I have been trying to not wash my hair often and it looks absolutely gross after a couple of days. I have tried dry shampoo in the past but I hated how it made my hair feel heavy and I especially couldn’t stand the white powder that got every where onto my clothes. The ORIBE dry texturizing spray is an amazing alternative to those like me who despise the effects of dry shampoo. The spray is easy to use and the product comes out in a continuous fine mist/heavy burst. The spray has a luxurious pleasant clean perfume scent (floral/citrus) that is long lasting. I like to use the spray after the shower once my hair has fully air dried. I use the spray to slightly style my hair by combing it through and tossing my hair around to create volume. The spray is extremely light weight and it doesn’t have a crunchy strong gel like hold. A little goes a long way! I don’t think it’s intended for that anyway. What is most impressive is that the next day my hair felt like it had even more texture and volume. It made my hair feel fuller and richer. The spray is a miracle worker that works wonders over time. The spray did a wonderful job at keeping my oils at bay and prolonged the look of my hair between washes. Furthermore, no white residue!! I have long, straight, black, glassy hair. My partner, however, has bleached, frizzy hair (naturally light brown hair to platinum. ALSO, since he is super impatient he doesn't let me bleach his hair *properly* so it ends up damaging his hair like crazy. He also hates upkeep that takes longer than 5 minutes lol) Enter DREAM COAT. It has a special polymer (fancy word for plastic) and that's why it's heat-activated. If you let your hair air-dry and use it before heat-styling, you'll still see a fantastic difference, but it truly makes the most difference when you use it as directed. I won't say the air drying is useless, for sure. So this is his hair BEFORE, with partial air drying, then AFTER spraying and using a flat iron. It looks and feels AMAZING. I usually follow up with the Mist-Ical Shine Spray (also an AMAZING product) but this time I didn't and it STILL looks and feels so soft! The ONLY reason I put 4 stars is becahse the price. It's a teeeeeny bit ridiculous, but obviously worth it or else I wouldn't keep buying it. Hair Chemist has a dupe at Sally Beauty that is almost HALF the price (and 2 more oz) However, its scent is heavier and it is ever-so-slightly not as good in performance, but a great buy if you can't come to terms spending $30 a month on this stuff. Dream Coat's scent is very mild, like a mix of water and chamomile tea. Hair Chemist smells nice, but most definitely a stronger scent. I would show you MY hair, but my partner's transformation is way, way more drastic, clearly. It completely changes his hair. Also, it says it lasts through 3 shampoos? I don't trust that lol. AND try not to use extra products or a conditioner that leaves a film, otherwise the color wow will just slip off. P.s. Let me start by saying this is a great product however there is a but… When worked into wet hair & then activated by heat, which in my case is normally a hair dry with my dyson air wrap & closely followed by either the curling tool on the air wrap or my GHD straighteners depending on the days hair goals. The product really brings my hair to life… for the day, max two days. It does leave my hair less frizzy (my GHD’s do that too mind you!) & the shine it gives my hair is stunning, I’ve had many compliments however I am one of those lucky humans who only normally needs to wash their hair once a week. This product does however make my hair appear increasingly greasy. Sometimes I can get away with using it & not washing my hair until day three after use but I often find that by the night of day two my hair looks greasy. Perhaps I am over doing it? I am not sure. I have tried using more, tried using less but it always seems the same. So I think it’s one of those products I will whip out on the day of an important event to make my hair pop but not one I will use religiously because well I’m lazy when it comes to my hair & unless my scalp psoriasis is having a flare up I do not wish to be washing my hair every other day. Even if the shine almost…almost makes it worth it. So for that reason I have given three stars. If I didn’t have the grease issue then it would be five stars hands down. I bought the small size of this to try first as I saw mixed reviews on it online. I have long, fine, non-colour treated hair, and this product worked AMAZING for me. I didn’t get a “glassy” look, but it definitely increased shine for me after 1 application. It reduces frizz SIGNIFICANTLY, and I washed my hair for the first time since adding it and it definitely still has an effect (so it worked well for first application and after my first wash after using it, so far). I am curious to see if it will actually last a full 3-4 washes. I am 40 years old and currently trying to heal my hair from damage from wearing it up all the time (ponytail, buns, messy buns, alllllll the time). This product DEFINTIELY makes it easier to wear my hair down more often because it looks great, my hair is texturally beautiful, and I don’t get the hair static to my neck that I hate, or my hair looking stringy and gross. It just does a beautiful job and does exactly what it says. I will definitely be upgrading to the big bottle when my little one runs out!! I am about 1 year into my CGM journey, and at this point – I rarely find products that work as well as my hair's natural oils. Even though I try to avoid shampoo, when I do use it (before hot tools or after about 3-4 weeks of conditioner rinses) I need to add a bit of moisture to make up for what I've rid my curls of. I tried this product after a wash day. It is one of the only products I've tried recently that actually feels natural in my hair. It helps to define curls and rid frizz. It dries with a light cast, but just enough for my hair to clump not enough to leave a waxy/dry texture like other competing products. I rarely feel comfortable using only one product. It's either a natural look sans products, or a mix of products (leave-in, oil, cream, maybe gel and spray etc., Depending on the style). This product is a mix of both worlds; leaves my hair natural looking without being too fluffy, yet offers enough moisture and oil for clumping without being heavy. Love the shine it adds. Ouai Curl Crème saves time for me since it's a cream + oil + hydrator + styling product. Great for traveling with. Easy to refresh dry hair with or style wet hair with. The scent is so luxuriously floral yet sweet, the packaging looks elegantly simple, and the bit about the "ex" on the packaging gave me a good chuckle. Ouai Curl Crème has my curls screaming, "oui, oui!" I have natural roots, ends relaxed and dyed (damaged), mix of curl textures (2b-3c), long length. This product is clearly a creme that is not shy to define, and give your hair a subtle yet noticeable shine. IMMEDIATELY after drenching my hair in water, and applying the product, I barely had to touch my hair, and the definition was VERY apparent. Y'all, when I say, I was shook… I have never in all of my 21 years of life had a product instantly define my hair upon application. I barely had to finger comb. It for sure provides a nice element of moisture as well, and I find that the more I've used it these past couple of weeks, the softer my hair is getting. I'm not 100% sure if it's this product, or some of the other products that I've been using in my hair for the time being, but I do know that this is clearly the moisture and defining agent in the squad of hair products I've been using. This product has chia & linseed oil, babassu oil, and coconut oil in it, which are clearly carrying the product and running so that it doesn't even have to jog on it's own. Babassu oil is known as an oil that promotes high moisture retention, which seals the moisture into your hair shaft (ideal for high porosity hair types), and you know lack of moisture retaining products in your haircare routine is one of the #1 causes for breakage. Chia seeds are rich in fatty acids which work to not only penetrate your hair shaft (great for low porosity hair types), but seal in the moisture as well. Linseed oil is the same as flaxseed oil, which is high in vitamin E, and not only treats hair loss, but promotes growth. For my dry scalp peeps, flaxseed oil also can be used to prevent dandruff, and can provide relief. If you have damaged hair, or chemically processed hair, this is very ideal, since it has great moisture retaining properties, and it seals damaged cuticles. My only con is that I have been noticing slight flaking on certain occasions, but that happens with whenever a bad combo of products is mixed. I highly recommend!Jaylynn THEE Lively Waterfall

I have pretty curly hair but it's very fine and I was worried this cream would be too heavy but that is not the case at all! I use this on my hair while it's wet by section with a denman brush and my curls look incredible. if you diffuse, it creates a great mask for the curls that you can brush out after. my curls seriously last 3 days through workouts, sleep (I plop/pineapple my hair without a bonnet and they stay!) DC humidity, all of it. I use it with the OUAI medium shampoo and conditoner, and it's smells great! not perfumy or overwhelming. cannot recommend this more! in my pictures the one in the green shirt is day 3 curls, the other one is day one.larklewis

My brother's hair is constantly puffy and he never wanted to use hair products. He has the typical guy style haircut. A friend of mine always has perfectly styled hair that looks natural and this is the product he uses. Got it for my brother and HE USES IT ALL THE TIME. I must have received a defective unit. When taking a fingertip of the product and emulsifying it, there are quite a few solid grains (see picture) that I cannot "melt" away. When running it through my dry hair, it is sticky and hardens fast. Unfortunately, those grains are randomly placed in my black hair and look like big dandruff flakes. I do get more hold and texture from another product. For the price I paid in store, I am not satisfied. Side note, the smell is good but very much a petroleum scent.Zayne

Solid drugstore matte paste that holds hair well and doesn’t have too dull of a matte finish. It can be rough on fine hair depending on your application style. Since it is a paste, it has the tendency to pull out baby hairs when applying – which can be a little annoying. This product is awesome. Really good matte finish, doesn't have that cream or gel feel to it at all, on your hands applying it or when it's in your hair, feels like the paste it is! Unfortunately every store around me stopped selling it for some mind boggling reason and now there's just Axe and old spice crap, Literally junk. so I have to get it online now! It's cheap, you don't need to apply a lot and it lasts really long and you can restyle it any point throughout the day. At parties I do the wolverine look just for, and when sexy time comes I sweep it back down for a feathery layered look. This hair product is lightweight but gives just the right amount of hold. When you rub it into your hair it gets a little tacky which gives the hair more body and a better hold than some products that just makes your hair stiff. I also like the matte finish as opposed to a shiny finish. Other products can feel greasy or waxy and are too heavy. The Osis Mess Up is just right for me. I also like the scent.waynok

When I got this leather repair product I thought wow this is really small. I LOVE THIS! I have a brown leather sectional. I have an indoor cat. He doesn’t scratch on the couch but when he jumps on the furniture his back claws dig in so he doesn’t slip and makes long scratches. I have tried many other products, without success. I put this on the scratches and watched them disappear. It looks like I have a brand new sectional again. I took it over to my sisters and fixed my brother in law’s favorite chair where it had worn. I bought this when it was on sale with the other Sexy products for Black Friday. It was a great price and I thought it might be a good, cheaper, alternative to the Living Proof texturing cream I had been using and ran out of. I couldn't be more wrong. As soon as I opened it and went to scoop some out to use, I was surprised at how HARD it was. I wasn't sure how I was supposed to put this in my hair. The Living Proof one I used was a nice creamy consistency that disappeared when I rubbed it between my hands into a clear product. I tried to rub this between my hands and it was SOOOO sticky. In fact I had to wash my hands not once but TWICE to get the stickiness off of my hands. I was scared to even put this in my hair. I couldn't imagine what a disaster this sticky mess would have been. Maybe this product just wasn't for me or my needs. I was looking for something to give some "grip" to my super fine, super limp shoulder length hair so it would hold a curl better. My hair tends to get very soft and silky and a curling iron will slide right out of it if it has no product in it. The Living Proof worked well for this as it was smooth and creamy and not sticky to the touch, yet gave some grit and grip to the hair so it held a style. When this product hit the market several years ago, it was one of the best products available. it did not weigh down the hair and literally have the shaping and tousled separation with a very apt product title "Frenzy". They changed the formula and it became more 'wet and waxy' and even though you can achieve the look when freshly applied, it then weighs your hair down and goes limp. I have fine hair and don't like using several products in my hair which make the hair look dull (which is an unfortunate result of these products). I still use it though, have hoping the original formulation comes back, (they have changed packaging a few times), but also it's as good as any other product in the market (and I've tried several). I wanted a hair product to use as a final stage after using a pre-styler and blow-dryer once I get out of the shower. I tried many and often faced the same issue, I get my hair just the way I like it with plenty of volume and then whatever product I use would usually lessen that fullness. I tried bedhead matte separation wax, the Salon Guy Clutch XL, Baxter clay pomade, hanz de fuko sponge wax, hanz de fuko claymation, hanz de fuko quick sand, Mr pompadour paste, Blumaan, Kevin murphy rough rider, mitch reformer & mitch matterial (which I think are both really great pre-stylers). My very favorite so far was the Kevin Murphy Night Rider. It's a fantastic paste, matte finish, phenomenal hold. BUT you have to be careful not to apply too much because it can become a bit heavy and shiny the next morning. Now this stuff, the moroccanoil texture clay is on another level. It gives a ton of volume, a ton of texture, a totally matte finish, like, you can't even see you even have anything in your hair. It gives this tiny "grit" to your hair, a bit of a lived in look, and the hold is amazing! It holds super well, and yet, it feels like there is nothing in your hair. It also thickens your hair.. So if you have medium – fine hair like me, you'll look as if you had twice the amount of hair on your head! LOL It's a clay, and yet, it's easy to scoop out, and it breaks down in a very nice, creamy way, making it very easy to spread through your hands and apply to your hair. Some clays and waxes are difficult to apply to dry hair because they tend to pull the hair as you do.. This here, thanks to its creamy feel once warmed up, goes into the hair like butter! You'll feel a bit of a gritty feel as you apply.. But that's the effect this clay gives, that second day lived in look, but yet very natural. The Hold is truly amazing in it! Because it's light, and perfect for fine hair as it swells the hair, you can layer this product for more hold. Start with a little amount, and add a little more if needed. It's super versatile.. You can get a soft hold and nice texture, with just a tiny amount, all the way to a lived in, messy, texturized look, with a super strong hold, depending on how much you use. This does the same thing as their texturizing spray, but, with a strong hold! The smell is a unique, very clean and fresh smell. It's not overpowering, it's very light, and smells really nice! I don't even need to use texturizing powder anymore, this does everything LOL You can also use a little bit as a pre-styler, for great volume and body. And because it has argan oil, it also acts as a heat protectant.. Honestly, it's truly an amazing product.. I'm glad I decided to try it out.. Doesn't matter your hair type, length, this will give you that awesome, next day, texturized, lived in look, with a great hold. I strongly suggest you to try it out.. It's a bit expensive, but a jar will last you several months!Tamas

Let's start by saying that I've tried lots of putties, clays, gels, and sprays on my hair. My hair can be heavy in one area and thin in others so it will be difficult to manage at every chance it gets. However, this Clay is where it's at I'm telling you. This stuff I will put a little tiny bit in my hane maybe a dime's worth no more than a nickel, because now than a nickel would be overkill. And it just seems to work like magic. This is my hair savior! It smells great. It even makes me look great! It's an awesome product. I recommend it to anyone who has hair, guy or girl. It's a little on the higher end side of the price but it's so worth it, that I promise you will not even think about what you paid for it. I have been approached by women complimenting me on my hair after using this. My hair looks healthy, just a minimal hint of shine, and great volume even though I have semi-thin hair. I'm fortunate I still have hair. By the way, my hair is long on top and tight on the sides Kind of a like a semi-skin fade. It smells great when the product is in my hair…really great. I've heard from more people that they love the smell. I see what they mean. It has a professional salon-like smell. I've been told that as well. In fact, several friends and family of mine all asked me what I was wearing that smells good, and I told them to smell my hair. They all said, "yep…that smells really clean." I don't want to compare this to other brands but I feel I would be holding back information that could help someone make a definitive decision, so here goes: I have tried Pacino's, Dove, and Clubman mostly including numerous drugstore brands. This seriously replaces all of them. Absolutely no competition…Reformer has the best smell, best hair volumizing properties, amazing shaping ability, and just a hint of shine…I mean the absolute slightest shine, while still appearing matte-like. Lastly, it washes out so easily. Seriously, I feel that you will not regret buying this.. One last thing…I can smell my own hair when wearing the product and I the strength of the smell definitely varies directly with the amount used. So, start light and wear it for a few hours. I have purchased Reformer from legit retailers in the past and has been one of the only products that keeps my hair styled all day long. This product appears to be a cheap knockoff that does not hold you hair for more than 20 minutes. It also smells bad and leaves an oily feel after. This Pomade was recommended to me by a barber after asking what they had that wasn't oily and didn't LOOK like a hair product was in my hair. He put a bit in my hair and I was sold. He was selling it for $19, so I passed at the time hoping to find it cheaper (I did, at Walmart). This is the first such hair styling product I have used in 20 years and I am extremely happy I discovered it. All those nasty gel-like hair products are just not for good people – or good for people. I HATE the gel look. It's terrible, believe me, you know better than me, look it up… This is a matte cream that feels dry in my hands and hair. Not squishy, jelly or gooey and clear. It's a white cream of which you only have to use the most minute amount to get the desired results. Put a dab on a couple fingers and run it through your hair. You can also keep styling all day. It is such that you don't get that "wet" gel look, which is why you could keep playing with your hair throughout the day. You're not ruining the way it looks. It's a bit pricy but it's really the best – and you don't have to use a lot at a time, so it lasts quite a while. It smells awesome. This stuff is terrible. I have used Sexy Hair Slept in for years and this is not it. This one is so watered down if I turn it over to squeeze out the way it was intended, the product just gushes out into a puddle of slop. Not only that, it smells different. This is a headache inducing, overly perfumed tube of junk. I'm thinking probably some kind of conditioner. The real product feels viscous and thick and actually gives volume and style. This junk just weights my hair down and makes it look like I haven't washed it for a week.Jacquelyn

I started using this stuff a few years ago and its now my goto for quick styling. Ive used other products but they either leave my hair too greasy, crusty or tacky. This cream is easy to work with and holds my thick head of hair easily. It also washes right out and isnt real messy. Ive only run into a single tube that seemed a bit more watered down and runny but since you need a bit of water to style anyway it doesnt really matter. Definitely recommendAnonymous

I have extremely short hair, and was looking for a texture cream that would emphasize the texture of my cut a little spiky but not over power it, and be goopy. I have tried numerous products, but decided to give this one a go, based on reviews. It is perfect. After using this product, my hair looks textured and great, but it doesnt feel like I have a product on it. Very lightweight, but does the trick, and I can actually run my fingers through my hair and not feel product. I can actually skip a day of washing my hair if I wanted to, as when I wake up, it my hair still looks great and feels clean. Will definitely order againAnonymous

The product is great. Not only does it have great hold but it washes out easily and when paired with other Forte Series products such as the Argan oil and Sea Salt Spray I can style my hair with ease. I only need to use a small amount so I’m sure it will last for awhile. Not to mention the sleek packaging and inviting scent. Alex and the team have done a great job in delivering a high quality product. The only reason I haven’t given it five stars is the price. Due to international shipping to the UK, the cost was pretty expensive and surmounted to roughly a 1/3 of the entire order. That's pricier than any other product I have bought from the US. This is the best men hair products ever the texture clay works really nicely. I have been looking for good hair products for so long and finally found one that was not good but perfect. I've used the old and the new version of this product and both are exceptional, and I have yet to find another product that comes close to Garnier's Putty that holds your hair all day while looking natural. The scent is pleasant, light and clean, and is a big reason i stay away from a lot of other brands that lean toward a heavy cologne deodorant smell. I've been using the Surfer Hair product for years and love it. I've tried other products but keep coming back to this. Unlike other hair products, this doesn't leave your hair greasy. And it works perfect in helping style your hair. The scent is pleasing and not over powering like in some other brands. It works great with short or long hair. I tend towards shorter hair but have had some years where I've gone longer (like in 2020-2021).William

I have been using the old Surfer Hair putty (strong hold 6) for 10 plus years. I lucked out, it being one of the first products I tried when I chopped my hair off. Over the years I have tried other products and NOTHING compares, even within Garnier Fructis' line. When GF switched up the formula, getting rid of the amazing scent, I stuck with it, because it still was the only product that checked every box for a hair product in terms of function. I have a lot of hair, but it is very fine, so can get weighed down or greasy quickly. Surfer Hair putty (strong hold 6) gave my hair lift, durability, and great texture. It didn't create a gel like shell (as many gums and strong putties do) that if I touched it too much the shell would crack and my hair fall. It didn't give the false promise of hold like many putties (including GF's other weaker putties) do and just leave my hair limp and shiny early in the day. In fact, I found the longer the day went on, the more I played with it, the better it looked. That is feat of physics compared to other products. The old Surfer Hair putty (strong hold 6) was literally in a class of it's own. I could go more than one day (with the assistance of some dry shampoo) and have great hair, earning compliments. I've recommended it to every one of my friends, girls and guys, with short hair who as me for product and styling advice. And my hype never disappointed them. I've scoured amazon, ebay, everywhere. There is now a gap in the market. You put out this "new formula" by the same product name that doesn't do the same thing. It feels like you've given us 10 options for 2-3 hold putty products or try and push people to some gel/putty that is basically a wax only for real stiff mohawks or mid-90's twisted spikes – it's 2018. Since this appalling discontinuation and deceptive "rebranding" a new product with an old trusted name, I've been asking anyone with hair I like what they use. I've even taken it to my (fancy) barber to show him what I'm looking for in a product, because just by verbal explanation alone he kept showing me other products that didn't live up. He's yet to find me something even close, from recommendation on the overprice barber shelf to something I could pick up at a target.
