20 Best Hair Product For Quiff (Feb 2023 Update)

I have been looking for 5 years now for a replacement for my HG hairspray Redken Pure Force 16 since they discontinued it. I had high hopes for this one because it was Non-Aerosol which I prefer and was suppose to hold well. I will say the hold was ok. But I had 2 problems with it this hairspray. First, the smell. Super Strong and smell lasted all day. Not chemical smelled almost herbal. And second it went on very wet and took a long time to dry down. So for a person like me with short, fine hair it just weighed my hair down. In addition, when I purchase it in the store I noticed that on one of the bottles the pump was broken. And on the other the pump would not go down. So I'm thinking there may be a problem with the pump mechanism as well on this hairspray. But for me this was a no go so I have to Return it.CYC

I was recently searching for a new hairspray to replace one that I loved that was discontinued. After much trial, error, and expense, I discovered Kenra 25 in aerosol form. I have always used a pump, so the aerosol took some getting used to, but this was absolutely the best hair spray I have ever used. I was at Ulta one day and I walked by the Kenra display to see if the brand was on sale when I spotted the non-aerosol form of Kenra 25 in a pump bottle. I had no idea this existed! There was only one bottle, so I quickly grabbed it and checked out. When I got home, I wanted to test it out and, unfortunately, it wouldn't pump. I know this is a concern with the aerosol and I learned that if you store it upside down, it keeps the nozzle from clogging. I turned the bottle upside down, gave it a few pumps, and it worked. It sprayed out a little thick at first and I've learned that a little goes a long way. The non-aerosol has more staying power that the aerosol and I feel like I have a few more seconds to style before it dries. This has SERIOUS staying power, so if you like extreme hold, this is it! This would be perfect to use for a major event such as a wedding or prom when you want your style to last. I am really happy I discovered this non-aerosol Kenra 25 and highly recommend!Rocksteadygirl

I have used this product for many years. It holds without being stiff or sticky. I have short platinum hair and I can sculpture my hair easily and it holds its shape all day. My hair shines and looks very natural. This last can that I purchased smells like burnt rubber. I have communicated this to Kenra but they don't s to m to care. I am now working with my salon to find another product that gives me the same results.Golpher

I ordered three travel/trial size products: Perfect defense, medium hairspray, and the dry texture spray. All 3 are aerosol cans, but the Perfect Defense came broken. It didn’t appear broken but upon trying to spray, it wouldn’t come out of the nozel but leaked out of the top, fizzing. The other two were perfectly fine, and I love them! I don't use heat on my hair daily but when I do opt to sway away from a messy bun, thermal protection is crucial. I've used a ton of different heat protectants and find myself repurchasing this one the most. This Morrocanoil Perfect Defense has 450° protection and is effective at protecting my strands without any residue or weighing my hair down. I absolutely love the scent and while not as strong as other Morrocanoil products, it stays true to their signature scent which is likely my favorite of all haircare lines. The only downfall to this heat protectant is the ingredients. Ether and alcohol are the first two ingredients listed so this may be a deal breaker for some. I did not find this protectant to be drying or adversely affect my hair in anyway. This is actually one of very few heat protecfants where my hair is left feeling soft and healthy without any residue after use.sabrina.s

LOVE this! Leaves my chemically damaged hair so much shinier and softer than most things I’ve tried! I imagine a lot of the bad reviews are from people who are using it on dry hair when it’s meant for wet hair. I have had 2 different Sephora employees recommend this to me when was looking for heat protectant spray to use on hair that’s already dry. I tried it out on dry hair to see if they were right but I wouldn’t recommend it, it definitely left a weird gritty texture on my hair as others have claimed. bought this product because i couldn’t decide between this or the mending infusion. i am a man with short hair and using this definitely styles my hair, but it almost feels like a hair gel rather than a cream. it leaves my hair just a little bit stiff and a tad oily. considering getting the mending infusion but if you don’t mind slightly oily hair this does the trick. side note it smells great. i feel like moroccanoil changed their formula and nothing smells the same anymore, but this has the moroccanoil signature scent.aydenb723

I have had some pretty serious issues over the past few years… after having lost about 60% of my hair due to some health issues… and I have to say that this Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream is AMAZING!!! I went from having VERY healthy, thick and shiny hair to VERY dry and fragile hair, almost over night, a few years back. My hair used to take DAYS to fully dry, when I would clip it up in a twist to dry naturally. Unfortunately, in the past couple of years, the bottom has literally been TOTALLY DRY, upon taking it out from my hair drying turban, only about 15 minutes after washing it… 🙁 The first time that I washed my hair again after having used a tiny bit of this product in my hair 3 days prior, when I took my hair out from my hair drying turban, it was actually STILL WET!!! I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT!!! My hair is soft and pretty shiny again! 🙂 If this could do this for my hair in this condition, I can't imagine how WONDERFUL it would be for those of you with healthy hair! I really really REALLY wanted to love this. Trust me, I even tried it on dry and wet at multiple times throughout the week and let me just say, disappointed in an understatement. To give you better perspective, I have wavy straight hair and I twirl my hair around my finger and usually creates these beautiful waves as my Hair dries. I was searching for the best hydrating styling cream snd decided to give this one s try because I love their hair oil but oh boy big mistake. It smelled NOTHING like their other products. It smells like chemicals and the moment I apply it to myself hair (wet or dry) it gets SO STICKY & STIFF. Once it dries it make your hair so puffy and it worsens when you brush it. Not sure if this is meant for curly hair folks? But it’s s big no for me. Disappointed but it is what it is. Thank god I bought the mini version. I have oils at home, that to be honest I have forgotten to use recently! Having visited my hairdresser recently this was used on my hair for the first time. I have thick, curly, coarse and frizzy hair. To blow dry it it can be a workout for the arms..and there is no way I can get it as smooth as they can! When this was used (just a couple of drops) on damp hair, the texture of my hair was so smooth and shiny it was amazing. It has certainly not made it greasy or feeling 'weighed down'….just loving the shine and the way it has made my hair look so healthy. This has spurred me on to use up my old oils and then I will be buying this for sure….I also noted that other reviews have suggested other products of the same brand to use at the same time. My hair is naturally ringlet-curly, but the ringlets were always noticeably frizzy. Over the decades I’ve tried oils, creams, mousse, gels, lotions, & potions to try and tame them. I gave up & would blowout my ringlets then straighten my hair, then slather with product. It worked for a while. Enter Covid Hair Loss!! I knew I needed to be gentle with my hair because it was now extremely fragile, which meant cutting way back on heat tools. After an exhaustive search for something new to tame the ringlet-frizz I now had back by letting my hair air dry, I landed on Olaplex No. 7. I honestly did not put a lot of faith in it, but I do now! I use about 7 drops in my hands and apply it to damp hair, then let air dry almost completely. I have zero frizz and perfect curls… ALL DAY! I do use a diffuser just to hit my roots for volume, but that’s it. I went from unruly frizzy curls, to blownout & straightened, to naturally curly shiny non-frizzy hair. It's been YEARS since my hair was this soft. i absolutely love this product. i received it in an ipsy xl box, so i didn’t realize the higher price point at first. i will definitely be repurchasing this product regardless of the slightly higher price. i use this on wet hair and it not only makes the hair extremely easy to brush or comb through, but it leaves my hair very shiny and tangle free all day. one bottle has also lasted me multiple months and my fiancé and i use it religiously after showering. this is my new go-to daily use product and first step to any styling. can’t give this a high enough rating to truly explain how amazing it is. and it smells delicious and the smell lasts for a long time in my hair.erinncoxx

So far so good! I love this stuff. My hair is waist length, thick but baby-fine textured. Basically, the texture is wispy-fine but I have an absolute ton of hair. The curl / wave pattern is 2B. I tend to have flyaways, and I also have some dryness and split ends toward the bottom. I tried this the first time on dry hair. I was super impressed by how soft my hair felt immediately, but not greasy at all. The flyaways settled down, and split ends became invisible. Some spray-on treatments leave a gross residue. This didn't. It leaves a subtle shine that looks natural, not super shiny like a high-gloss thing. That might be different on hair that's very straight. With some wave, "shiny" is relative. The result I like best is overall manageability plus no flyaways or visible split ends. Because the texture of my hair is so fine plus I have so much of it, I tend to get a lot of knots. Throughout the day, I tried brushing it out just to see if it was still manageable. And it was! My hair can also get frizzy, but I see no evidence of frizz after using this. I braid my hair at bedtime. Ordinarily, I would need to use a detangler to brush it out before braiding. With this, I did not need to use anything. It just brushed right out from just the amount that I had used that morning. Since the first use, I get the same results every day. No flyaways, no frizziness, no visible split ends, and really nice manageability. The scent is pretty strong. That might be a good thing or a bad thing depending on whether you like the scent. My new go-to multitasking hair product! I have shoulder-length straight hair that is medium in thickness (asian hair) and is recently bleach/dyed brown. My hair has been looking more frizzy and damaged after showering, so I applied this after washing my hair and before using a blow dryer/curling iron. While the product looked thick in the bottle, it still sprayed easily and did not feel heavy in my hair. The scent was okay, a weird mix of hair spray smell… but I think this is because the product is vegan and tries not to use fragrance/unnecessary chemicals. My hair definitely felt less frizzy when I finished drying it. I finished styling it by applying IGK crybaby hair serum and my hair was smooth. I’ve been receiving a lot of compliments that my hair looks healthy and shiny. If you’re looking for a heat protectant, have similar hair type as me and are not too sensitive to scents, I definitely recommend this product. I had a rather large purchase last time with Moroccanoil and this was included as a gift in a mini set. This, the perfect defense and a mini oil. And LET ME TELL YOU… SIS…. you and I BOTH need the big bottles of it allll!!! I am sooooo obsessed with this stuff! I have only been using this for about a month or two now and wowwwww. I loveeeee the way my hair transforms again and again every time they send me free products and “hook me.” Lol. They definitely know that their products are the bomb diggity so be careful because you will be as hooked as I am and always buying more and more! It’s like an addiction for me now! This product delivered exactly what I wanted – texture, grit, volume, and light, moldable hold. I have 2B/C waves and decided to give myself a 70s inspired cut with bangs and lots of razored pieces around the face. I had been using curl mousse and a light hold gel, but they're too heavy on my now whispy curls. Mousse paired with a salt-free curl spray was working well, but I looking for more lift, grit, and texture. Enter Dry Texture Spray! I use it on my crown, roots, bangs, and front pieces when 90% dry. I can then tousle and mold pieces with my fingers to finish off my look. I was hesitant that this would perform more like a hairspray or a dry shampoo (either too sticky or too sleek), but nope! I have very long, thick, wavy hair and LOVE this product. This texture spray is like if a dry shampoo and a hairspray had a baby. It adds…well, texture to my hair after styling and plump up my waves, while helping them last all day. Gives good volume, doesn't leave any white cast in my dark hair and also doesn't make my hair feel weighed down. There is a fairly strong fragrance, some people love it some people hate it, I don't really have a strong opinion one way or another. It isn't overwhelming. I thought this was supposed to be a light hair spray where it can hold your hair while leaving a nice soft flexible touch. It stiffened my hair quite a bit which I did not like. It is also hard to wash it off unless you use a conditioner to do it which I do not normally use since I already have soft thin hair.Sabby

This does not have a 'variable hold' or 'incredibly flexible finish' as the product description claims at the time of this review. It is essentially a spray gel. It has an incredibly strong alcohol smell. It takes a decent bit of pressure on the spray button to release the product and it comes out in a strong concentrated blast. It's not really suitable for spraying directly on your hair like a hairspray because of this. It is better used spraying first onto a brush or comb or on your hands then combining through your hair. It finishes just like a spray gel or hair spray in that your hair will be dry and crunchy. Also only a few hours after combing a not insignificant amount of the product through my hair it has almost completely disintegrated to the point its like I have nothing in my hair at all. So you will have a hair spray like finish which wears off after a few hours. I would not recommend this product.Andrew K

The sprayer head was changed so it has more volume per spray and less coverage — I am still using the same pump from 2 years ago while buying refills. This curl cream would be great for you if you’re not looking to have too much hold in your hair. It’s thick, but it doesn’t create a very strong cast for me. As you can see, my hair is already frizzing at the roots and it’s not completely dry yet. There’s no cast to scrunch out. The pump is also really hard to use and only dispenses like a dime size of product with each pump, which means I need to pump twice just to get enough for one section of hair. It is very hydrating, so I can’t knock it down too much, but it is probably my least favorite ouidad product, which is saying a lot because I LOVE ouidad. I gave it three stars because it doesn’t really work that well with my curly hair. I just started used ouidad products so there’s a learning curve. I have coily and s shaped curls. It’s a blend of two different types of curls. The gel would work very well for someone whose hair is not coily like mine. I need something a bit different or stronger. I would say that in comparison to million other products that I have tried, it’s one of the better ones. It doesn’t make my hair feel crunchy which is great. I've struggled with finding products to tame my type 3B curls for as long as I can remember. I have tried mousse, leave-in conditioners, gels, and all kinds of creams. The product is a clear gel and you need only use a dime or quarter size amount depending on how thick/long your hair is. The product has a very natural, floral smell that doesn't overwhelm you. I use this product every day with my Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Leave In Conditioning Cream and they work extremely well together. This lightweight gel helps tame frizz while also letting the curls keep their natural shape without any crunchiness or residue. I have used this gel for over a year now and it has become a staple in my hair-care products. The product locks moisture in your hair and leaves it hydrated all day. A bottle of this product lasts me about three-four months. This product really does it all when it comes to taming frizz and moisturizing curly hair, but that is to be expected given that the bottle is almost $30 for only 8.5 FL. OZ. When you think about it, this high price does get to be too expensive for a smaller bottle when you use this product on a daily basis, but I have yet to find any other products that work as well as this one does with my hair. I recommend this product to every curly-haired person I know! It has made styling my hair so much easier, hydrating and holding my curl all in one product so that I don't have to use multiple products to get the right mix of hydration and holding power.Susan

I bought a travel size of this a few months ago to see if it would be a better product for me than Advanced Climate Control Gel, which leaves a slight cast if used alone on my hair, and just bought the full size. I have used this cream mixed with gel for windy days or extra definition with good results. I have also had satisfying results using this cream alone after a leave in conditioner. It responds well to second or third day refreshment with a little water or spray conditioner on my 2C/3A natural graying hair.Louisa

Don’t Shrink is a CGM approved protein gel with olive oil, shea butters, and glycerin. Flax seed really helps my hair retain its curl shape, the large jar helped me explore different styling techniques to see what works best with my hair and the price helped me feel better about re-styling failed experiment days vs conserving pricy product; which let’s face it, there’s a lot of fails in the beginning for curlies lol. I tried it out with super long hair and also with a long bob reset chop and both had consistent results. I achieved really great definition with a hard hold, I still had frizz but I also know this is most likely user error since I’m always improving my routines. I clarify every wash so I’m not one to comment on build up. I really wanted to love it, but I found out mid tub that I prefer shrinkage while I train my curl type. Like many wash and go naturalistas who rock the teeny weeny fro, I have gone through a lot of products trying to find that ONE which does what I need. I have finally found Aunt Jackies and I'm thrilled. It is the holy grail! I have moisturized curls that pop, no dryness or flakiness, and the curls last for DAYS with minimal fuss. For daily maintenance, I just fill a spray bottle with water, jojoba oil and Aunt Jackies leave-in and spritz that mixture to refresh my curls. Best of all, the entire regimen isn't a sticker shock to my wallet yet contains all the good, clean ingredients more pricy natural gels have. I recurved this product free for testing through Influencer, to provide my honest opinion. I have fine, thinning… and I mean thinning, genetic hair loss! I was my hair every other day and applied this in the schedule. That I have also colored with stylists over the past 5 years. This product was sent several months before the launch packaging is beautiful, I'm a sucker for good packaging. It is slightly fragment, I personally enjoyed the smell, slightly herbal. I was interested in the southing properties as I tend to have a dry and itchy scalp during the cold New England winters. The Ouai serum did help with that tremendously, very little itch, irritation or flakiness, like previous years. I did notice most days I used it that my hair appeared a bit fuller, especially if I styled with hear tools. I don't know if it helped my hair grow or perfect shedding necessarily which is why I docked one star. I would decently recommend for those with itchy it irritated scalps, or those looking for a boost if fullness, I think it's the ingredients lifting your hair, again not that I saw hair growth but I feel like my hair felt healthier. I am including a photo of my part, the most recent may look like I lost more hair but I think it's lighting. QUAI SCALP SERUM I like this serum because it’s completely vegan, cruelty free, gluten free, paraben free and phathalate free, SLS & SLES free. I smells nice and not greasy like one might think. Best of all, easy to apply. The container contains a very nice dropper. The presentation of the bottle is simple, but elegant. I accidentally dropped it and it didn’t break or crack, so it’s made of strong glass. Improvements: My scalp feel less irritated and healthy. In my case, I have dry scalp that comes and goes, and this serum helps minimize dandruff. While using, I noticed less and less flakes and eventually, none. My hair feels healthier and fuller. It leaves a fresh feeling in your hair and a very nice scent. I was selected to test this in March, and I have been using this treatment for more than a month. It came out recently, but you can now make your purchase directly in the @Quai store, @sephora , @ultabeauty and other stores. It’s priced at $52 dlls. A bit expensive, but worth it. I received this product complementary from Influenster and OUAI in exchange for my honest opinion. Just over a month ago, I received this product free from Influenster. Since the new year, I’ve been getting much more into hair and skin products. I’m not getting any younger, so I’m trying to look my best and move into my 40s with grace. I really like the scent of this product, which is kind of minty and is familiar but I could not quite pin it down. If nothing else, your hair will smell great after applying this. The product is applied via a medicine dropper type bulb and applicator. i’m honestly not too sure what I think about this. From the beginning, I always felt like it was not getting enough product into the dropper and had to make multiple goals to get enough to saturate my scalp. In the end I just kind of gave up and came to terms that I would have to go multiple times to do the job. However, I can see why they don’t want you to do it with your fingers, as the shape of the bottle is not conducive for that. The bottles made of glass, but they might want to rethink it and make it into a squeeze bottle with a nozzle, kind of like how you would apply hair dye. I received this product during a time when I dyed my hair twice and pretty much fried my hair. I am going gray in front and getting the color to saturate has been a challenge. This has caused hair breakage and damage. I was able to use his products and apply it to the edges and widows peak of my hair. I feel like after use, but my scalp was not as Ollie but still moist. I cannot say that this is the only product that I have been using for my hair, as I’ve taken on several others in the last month or two, therefore I cannot definitively say that this product alone has helped me. I had high hopes for this product because I genuinely love all the other tea tree products from Paul Mitchell. I didn't realize that one of the ingredients had apricot in it. This is my mistake, I own up to it. I should have just read the label before applying it but i was so excited, i had completely forgotten to until my scalp started getting itchy. I’m a 62 yr old woman with naturally curly hair past my waist. My hair, not extensions. I don’t blow-dry my hair or use curling implements. Every once in a long while (like 5years) I will use my ceramic flat iron just to have a different look for an occasion. But I’m a wash-and-wear woman. I live in Florida, and had not yet found a product that kept my hair from frizzing. I’ve used PM products in the past and liked them. Especially the Super Skinny Serum. So when I came across this product at a salon I decided to give it a try. It keeps my hair smooth without weighing down the curls. Once dry it can be a bit “crunchy” like a lot of leave in products. But i’ve found that gently scrunching my dry curls breaks it up, and leaves my hair soft, shiny, and curly. Unfortunately, as with other reviewers, I find small chunks of white in my hair after applying, even with pumping it into one of my palms and then vigorously rubbing my palms together to warm and emulsify the product. With as much hair as I have, combing through my wet curls and picking out the chunks is tedious. Will it keep me from using the product? Doubtful. Simply because it really makes my hair look lovely. I have 2c mid back length hair. I tried this product alone without any other products. It smelled good while applying but left no other scent once dry. I scrunched this in and allowed to air dry. Once my hair was completely dry there was no defined curls. It wasn't crunchy. It seemed to weigh my hair down. I tried using less the next time and still no results I was looking for. There was less frizz but no definition. Maybe as a frizz tamer but not for definitionRumple

Im struggling with frizzy hair for some time and on top of that my hairs are fine. I have try all different products (even from Colour Wow) and this is first product I notice doing anything to my frizz till I decided to try travel version of this. I use it after every wash, and my hair look better straight away. You need tiny little peas size amount (my hair to my shoulders) and it doesn’t make my thin hair even thinker what is big plus, I still have volume to it. I have medium thickness, relatively straight, but pretty darn frizzy and wild hair. My hair gets oily pretty quickly, so I tend to avoid post-shower products because they tend to make the oils worse. I received this gifted by Color Wow and I am pretty happy with it! It's not totally transformative or anything, but it definitely does help control my frizz quite noticeably and makes my hair much more manipulatable and easier to manage, without any crunchy or strange residue (unless you put too much, but its pretty easy to brush out even if you do). I was really pleasantly surprised by this product! My hair is VERYYYYY frizzy. It’s naturally very wavy, but the days that I blow dry it straight even it gets frizzy pretty quick. I found myself reaching for this a lot, both with and without the blow dryer. At first it almost makes your hair look a little bit greasy, so you don’t want to add too much too soon. Start small and build it up. Either way I found it soaks into your scalp in no time, but if it still looks a little oily I used the blow dryer which helped! There is a pleasant and slight scent, nothing irritating. I really like how it didn’t weigh my hair down, it just tamed those flyaways and the frizz! Added bonus, it makes your hair look a lot more sleek if you use it near the ends and body, too!genevieveedilaa

I have very long hair, its about halfway down my back in length, so drying my hair takes what seems like forever. I have tried a lot of different priming sprays that are supposed to reduce drying time. This product works really well for my hair, it has cut drying time at least in half for me with my hair dryer. It has a mild and pleasant scent. The bottle doesn't last very long because of how long and thick my hair is, however it is completely worth it. I have purchased it in the past and plan to keep purchasing unless something better comes along (which I doubt will happen)jazmin.n

MY FAVORITE SPRAY EVER TO PREP MY HAIR FOR STYLING. Honestly it does the job and I love the smell! I use this every single time before styling my hair and it leaves my hair nice and smooth. Wow, this is great stuff. I am so glad I tried it. I have shoulder length, fine, straight, color-treated hair that tends to get frizzy, poufy and dry looking in summer humidity. I have tried several products, some quite expensive, without great success. With my terrible hair, I need something that will smooth and soften my hair and give it some shine, yet not make it look lank and weighed down. A fine line! This spray, when used on my towel-dried hair prior to blowdrying, leaves my hair smooth and shiny with much less frizz and poufiness as the day wears on, yet no oily or flat look. I have long, straight, black, glassy hair. My partner, however, has bleached, frizzy hair (naturally light brown hair to platinum. ALSO, since he is super impatient he doesn't let me bleach his hair *properly* so it ends up damaging his hair like crazy. He also hates upkeep that takes longer than 5 minutes lol) Enter DREAM COAT. It has a special polymer (fancy word for plastic) and that's why it's heat-activated. If you let your hair air-dry and use it before heat-styling, you'll still see a fantastic difference, but it truly makes the most difference when you use it as directed. I won't say the air drying is useless, for sure. So this is his hair BEFORE, with partial air drying, then AFTER spraying and using a flat iron. It looks and feels AMAZING. I usually follow up with the Mist-Ical Shine Spray (also an AMAZING product) but this time I didn't and it STILL looks and feels so soft! The ONLY reason I put 4 stars is becahse the price. It's a teeeeeny bit ridiculous, but obviously worth it or else I wouldn't keep buying it. Hair Chemist has a dupe at Sally Beauty that is almost HALF the price (and 2 more oz) However, its scent is heavier and it is ever-so-slightly not as good in performance, but a great buy if you can't come to terms spending $30 a month on this stuff. Dream Coat's scent is very mild, like a mix of water and chamomile tea. Hair Chemist smells nice, but most definitely a stronger scent. I would show you MY hair, but my partner's transformation is way, way more drastic, clearly. It completely changes his hair. Also, it says it lasts through 3 shampoos? I don't trust that lol. AND try not to use extra products or a conditioner that leaves a film, otherwise the color wow will just slip off. P.s. Even in KY summer weather after the rain (which is like walking into a SAUNA) his hair refuses to frizz! THAT is amazing.alli.b

Let me start by saying this is a great product however there is a but… When worked into wet hair & then activated by heat, which in my case is normally a hair dry with my dyson air wrap & closely followed by either the curling tool on the air wrap or my GHD straighteners depending on the days hair goals. The product really brings my hair to life… for the day, max two days. It does leave my hair less frizzy (my GHD’s do that too mind you!) & the shine it gives my hair is stunning, I’ve had many compliments however I am one of those lucky humans who only normally needs to wash their hair once a week. This product does however make my hair appear increasingly greasy. Sometimes I can get away with using it & not washing my hair until day three after use but I often find that by the night of day two my hair looks greasy. Perhaps I am over doing it? I am not sure. I have tried using more, tried using less but it always seems the same. So I think it’s one of those products I will whip out on the day of an important event to make my hair pop but not one I will use religiously because well I’m lazy when it comes to my hair & unless my scalp psoriasis is having a flare up I do not wish to be washing my hair every other day. Even if the shine almost…almost makes it worth it. So for that reason I have given three stars. If I didn’t have the grease issue then it would be five stars hands down. Also let me clarify it makes my hair look greasy but it doesn’t feel greasy actually it feels sleek & smooth. That’s the sad part.Chynna

I bought the small size of this to try first as I saw mixed reviews on it online. I have long, fine, non-colour treated hair, and this product worked AMAZING for me. I didn’t get a “glassy” look, but it definitely increased shine for me after 1 application. It reduces frizz SIGNIFICANTLY, and I washed my hair for the first time since adding it and it definitely still has an effect (so it worked well for first application and after my first wash after using it, so far). I am curious to see if it will actually last a full 3-4 washes. I am 40 years old and currently trying to heal my hair from damage from wearing it up all the time (ponytail, buns, messy buns, alllllll the time). This product DEFINTIELY makes it easier to wear my hair down more often because it looks great, my hair is texturally beautiful, and I don’t get the hair static to my neck that I hate, or my hair looking stringy and gross. It just does a beautiful job and does exactly what it says. I will definitely be upgrading to the big bottle when my little one runs out!! I also made sure to follow directions exactly – use on towel dried/damp hair; used a generous amount of product; used a blow dryer with a round brush during drying.mysmilingeyes

I am about 1 year into my CGM journey, and at this point – I rarely find products that work as well as my hair's natural oils. Even though I try to avoid shampoo, when I do use it (before hot tools or after about 3-4 weeks of conditioner rinses) I need to add a bit of moisture to make up for what I've rid my curls of. I tried this product after a wash day. It is one of the only products I've tried recently that actually feels natural in my hair. It helps to define curls and rid frizz. It dries with a light cast, but just enough for my hair to clump not enough to leave a waxy/dry texture like other competing products. I rarely feel comfortable using only one product. It's either a natural look sans products, or a mix of products (leave-in, oil, cream, maybe gel and spray etc., Depending on the style). This product is a mix of both worlds; leaves my hair natural looking without being too fluffy, yet offers enough moisture and oil for clumping without being heavy. Love the shine it adds. Ouai Curl Crème saves time for me since it's a cream + oil + hydrator + styling product. Great for traveling with. Easy to refresh dry hair with or style wet hair with. The scent is so luxuriously floral yet sweet, the packaging looks elegantly simple, and the bit about the "ex" on the packaging gave me a good chuckle. Ouai Curl Crème has my curls screaming, "oui, oui!" I have natural roots, ends relaxed and dyed (damaged), mix of curl textures (2b-3c), long length. Great on my husband's beard, 2a hair, and my son's 2b-3a hair. My hair is high density, low porosity.Amber

This product is clearly a creme that is not shy to define, and give your hair a subtle yet noticeable shine. IMMEDIATELY after drenching my hair in water, and applying the product, I barely had to touch my hair, and the definition was VERY apparent. Y'all, when I say, I was shook… I have never in all of my 21 years of life had a product instantly define my hair upon application. I barely had to finger comb. It for sure provides a nice element of moisture as well, and I find that the more I've used it these past couple of weeks, the softer my hair is getting. I'm not 100% sure if it's this product, or some of the other products that I've been using in my hair for the time being, but I do know that this is clearly the moisture and defining agent in the squad of hair products I've been using. This product has chia & linseed oil, babassu oil, and coconut oil in it, which are clearly carrying the product and running so that it doesn't even have to jog on it's own. Babassu oil is known as an oil that promotes high moisture retention, which seals the moisture into your hair shaft (ideal for high porosity hair types), and you know lack of moisture retaining products in your haircare routine is one of the #1 causes for breakage. Chia seeds are rich in fatty acids which work to not only penetrate your hair shaft (great for low porosity hair types), but seal in the moisture as well. Linseed oil is the same as flaxseed oil, which is high in vitamin E, and not only treats hair loss, but promotes growth. For my dry scalp peeps, flaxseed oil also can be used to prevent dandruff, and can provide relief. If you have damaged hair, or chemically processed hair, this is very ideal, since it has great moisture retaining properties, and it seals damaged cuticles. My only con is that I have been noticing slight flaking on certain occasions, but that happens with whenever a bad combo of products is mixed. I highly recommend!Jaylynn THEE Lively Waterfall

I have pretty curly hair but it's very fine and I was worried this cream would be too heavy but that is not the case at all! I use this on my hair while it's wet by section with a denman brush and my curls look incredible. if you diffuse, it creates a great mask for the curls that you can brush out after. my curls seriously last 3 days through workouts, sleep (I plop/pineapple my hair without a bonnet and they stay!) DC humidity, all of it. I use it with the OUAI medium shampoo and conditoner, and it's smells great! not perfumy or overwhelming. cannot recommend this more! in my pictures the one in the green shirt is day 3 curls, the other one is day one.larklewis

if you want your hair to be sleeked back but hate the shiny look and find shiny looks greasy, THIS IS WHAT YOU BUY. a little goes a looong way, i use a pea size and warm it between my pointer ans middle fingers and then smooth down my hair with an edges brush for bun days. the mattifying part even mattified any greese i did have in my hair. def get it. i also use this after i curl my hair to loosen the curls and get the beachy look, so nice.stephbarakat

Using the pomade: The product is good at taming flyaways for a slicked-back hairstyle, without the crusty feel. It does initially leave a slightly greasy appearance to your hair but that seems to go away as the product sets in. I advise melting it a bit on the back of your hand first as the pomade is quite firm. Also, don’t be put off by the colour as it brushes in clear. Pomade scent: Not a bad scent in my opinion, however I think it is far too strong. When I buy a pomade it is to style my hair with, not to add a smell to my hair. I don’t want to smell it over my shampoo and conditioner, and I certainly don’t want to smell it over my perfume as I can with this. Due to the fragrance I won’t be buying this again and I probably won’t even finish the pot I purchased. In summary, if you don’t mind the scent and strength of it than this will be a good product for you.Treenie

Now that I have a short lob, all I use is a thickening spray and styling creme (with heat protectant) when my hair is wet and then I use a very small amount of this pomade after I curl my hair. This pomade gives me that piecey look for an effortlessly undone look. After my hair is dry it takes 5 min to curl and run this into my hair and I’m ready to go. I don’t even need a texturizing spray or hair spray when I use this pomade. I rub a small amount in between my fingers before rubbing it onto my ends or other areas where I want texture, hold, and a piecey look. I tried salt sprays, texturizing sprays, and many other products before finally landing on this stuff and it makes my mornings so much easier. I find the fragrance to be pretty strong (more so than I would prefer), so if you use other products that also have fragrance, then you’ll have some competition on your hands.ByeByeBirdie1

I forget how I discovered this stuff but ever since it's been a constant in my hair routine. A little goes along way so tread lightly guys! Applying it to mostly dry hair works best. When you apply it to damp hair, it doesn't really seem to work into the hair but when applied to dry/semi dry hair its amazing. its that effortless bed head (no pun intended) rockstar looking like you just rolled out of bed and gave no effort to your hair yet it still looks great look. hair stays in place but its still workable throughout the day. i run my fingers through my hair constantly during the day (nervous habit) and my hair still molds and sculpts back to how i want it. the original container it came in was black with a pop up top that unscrewed i kind of prefer the old packaging better because i didn't have to worry about losing the lid haha but in hindsight a lot of product would get caught underneath the crack of the lid so i guess this new packaging is alright i don't know though i still feel like the packaging could use a better redesign but overall this is hands down my #1 hair product I've tried a lot of waxes and pomades and this is by far the best I've come to find. byrd is a close second but the hold of byrd can't really compare to bed head. i just need to find something now to give my hair a little bit of shine and a little bit of hold something to cocktail with this product would be ideal.ALEX

When I discovered this stuff 4 years ago, I was worried it might be a bit pricey for what it is it was almost 8 pounds back then. You get what you pay for. I used loads of waxes before I discovered this and they were too greasy, too shiny, not strong enough, wouldnt tame my hair…This stuff is amazing, after blowdrying I just get a bit on my finger about the size of my finger tip and rub it into my hands, run through my hair and style. Finished off with a bit of hairspray this keeps your hair in that style for the whole day, but the great thing about it is, if you want it out, it is so easy to remove without making your hair greasy. From an outside perspective, you literally wouldnt know you had it in and if this is the sort of look you are going for, this is definitely the stuff for you.With a lovely scent, finish and just the right amount of thickness, this is a musthave, especially if you have unruly fine hair like mine.Cant recommend enoughAnonymous

I have a shaved head… but my fiance is growing out her pixie cut and this product has been perfect for her. She likes the scent and does not find it too masculine. After drying and straightening her hair, she uses this Matte Separation Wax to get a nice, "piecey" finish. It holds the hair in place without the stiff flakiness of a hairspray. Plus, there is no shine that screams "I used a shellac today." I love her finished look and she says it is easy to use. You just put a little dab in your palm and then rub your hands together until it warms up and becomes more workable. Then you use your fingers to apply a little at a time, working it through the areas that need some control. She uses whatever is left on her hands to smooth down the back and get rid of any frizzy hairs. I received this product free for testing purposes.FitnessMusician

I've gone through hundreds of cans of this stuff over the past 5 years. It's an absolutely awesome product and is the best on the market. I'm writing this review because of two issues that I've consistently experienced over the years, that would be awesome if they could be improved and, if it is improved, this hairspray would be literally perfect. The first one is that about 1 out of every 3 (minimum) of the cans I purchase stop working properly with around 1/2 to 1/3 of spray left in the can. I've tried all the tricks cleaning the nozzle, removing it, etc., to no avail. It will either just sputter out a bad mix of propellant and spray, or you can hear a little bit of propellant coming out, with no spray along with it. The can becomes effectively useless. The second issue, much smaller, is the consistency between batches with regards to the fragrance (which fortunately goes away once the spray dries). One out of about every 15-20 cans will have quite a strange odor that honestly smells literally like a garbage can. And within this past month, almost every can I purchased had a different, new strange odor that's a bit hard to describe, but almost smells like… rotting olive oil? Again, very minor because the smell is only there when the spray is wet (or my hair gets a little wet after the spray dries), but still. Anyway, this spray is wonderful, please keep up the great work guys, thanks for this amazing product!IBuyTooMuchHairspray

Screaming hold? Where? This is t the greatest hairspray and in my opinion a minimum at best. It seems more of like a medium hold. You can’t come close to even comparing it like Freeze it hairspray. The difference in hold isn’t even on the same level. This does the job as long as you’re not looking for a All day hold or a super hold!dawn.g

This works great to glue on a front lace wig to your forehead without having to worried about peeling off your forehead. Or you can do a slick pony tail with this just remember this will give you white residue on your hair after a day so that why I mainly use it for wig but this holds a lot. This you can purchase it at the beauty supply for about $8 or at Walmart for about $4 for the big can. Anyways, I highly recommend it. Just spray the lace part use the back of a comb to make it flat on the forehead use the blow drier and bam you’re done. Looks great, just remember to clean around your forehead with a cloth with warm water since the spray might run down your face sometimes.jessica.c
