I was very excited & grateful to have been chosen to try Shea Moisture Curl & Shine Coconut & Hibiscus Shampoo. #trywithtopbox #freeproduct I have type 3B curls, and I have been wanting to try Shea Moisture products for quite some time now, but just didn’t get around to it. I have been using the Coconut & Hibiscus Shampoo for a month now. I really like the coconut scent, it lathers really well and I was very pleased that a little goes a long way as I have very long and thick hair. I wash my hair every 3rd day, but I wet my hair and condition it every day. I have been using the Shea Moisture Curl & Shine Coconut & Hibiscus Conditioner the 2nd day. I always use leave in conditioner but that day I had to use double the amount of what I normally use. Otherwise my hair felt & looked dry & frizzy. The product definitely did help with detangling my hair, not totally, but to a great enough degree where I was pleased. I didn’t notice any improvement in shine though. I was hoping to experience much more of an overall difference from all the various products I have used in the past. No huge noticeable difference, and more expensive than what I currently use. I love that Shea Moisture Curl & Shine Coconut & Hibiscus Shampoo contain no silicones, parabens, no phathalates, no petrolatum & no mineral oil. Thankful to have found and purchased this amazing shampoo. My desire to nourish and manage my natural 4C porosity hair came with a challenge. However, I remembered, that I purchased this shampoo and matching hair masque. However, for the information on Hair Porosity Moisture Replenish Masque, the page is unavailable. My budget is tight at the moment, but I usually save up for what I need. I need the Hair Porosity Moisture Replenish Masque. Therefore, to increase the benefits to my damaged hair I gathered a portion of the Curl and Shine Hair Masque and combined it with a hint of tea tree oil, fresh rosemary water, rose water, and peppermint oil. Leaving in my hair for 30 minutes. My hair texture is incredibly moist. I shall continue this mixture until I am able to locate and purchase the High Porosity Moisture Replenish Masque, which I already know is perfect for the restoration of my hair. The chemical perm greatly damaged my hair, thinned my hair, and broke my hair off in places. After two years of studying Cosmetology without desiring to work in this field, I have learned valuable new detailed information about hair on my own. Your products live up to the authentic purposes mentioned. In conclusion, I am looking forward to growing my hair back to my desired length with thickness, sheen, and shine. So I really enjoyed using the product on both my baby girl and my own hair. Because we have very very different hair types, I noticed some important things. She has a healthy head of very fine, very varied coil curls. The shampoo worked great on very wet hair, it lathered well for a clarifying shampoo without turning her hair into dry grass. I rinsed twice to make sure the water ran well and clear. The conditioner was light and moisturizing, as promoted. I took the time to work it into all strands while damp to slightly wet with a curly hair wet brush. Afterward rinsing the conditioner lightly, I put in the styling cream. Here I realized I'd put in way too much, but the effect was still very good. Her curls were less prone to tangling, moisturized and made beautiful defined coils. My hair is fine but wavy, not curly. However my hair is super dry. I like using heavily moisturizing products from time to time to feed my hair. The products were too heavy for fine straighter hair, but it really moisturized heavily. My hair has a healthy strong feel and a beautiful glisten that it has after a moisturizing hair mask. Overall, on straighter finer hair, I'd say use the conditioner thoroughly but rinse very well and easy on the styling cream. I didn't experience any waxiness anywhere.Thali22

I use this daily on my curly hair. It doesn't leave my hair greasy feeling or looking like some of the other products I've used over the years, and I like the light coconut scent. As others have commented, it is a thick product and difficult to get out of the bottle, but my solution for that is to use a pump top from another product (like Mrs. Meyers hand soap) cut to the length needed for the SheaMoisture bottle. I save the screw-on top and use it toward the end of the bottle when the pump won't get out the last bit. Then I turn the bottle upside down, and when that doesn't work any more, I get a plastic knife and scrape the rest out. It's too good to leave any behind!!Barbara C.

I have received Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Style milk in exchange from topbox my honest review. I have curly and very dry hair and the tangles are my challenge. This product worked awesome on my tangles and I loved the Coconut smell. It is sulfate-free, paraben-free. Also cruelty free and fair trade. Ingredient list is great. It is super thick, so thick that hard to get out of bottle. It would be even better if it had a pump on the top of the bottle. Other than that it was super amazing. My hair kept the style so long. Anybody with type 4 hair please buy this. I used this for the first time with the curl souffle and my only gripe is that I didn't try this a lot sooner. Super moisturising and lush on the hair. Gorgeous. My hair feels completely nourished and this is just on the first use. I would recommend if you are a thick type 4 you be quite generous when you use it because a fair amount works a long way if you are a tighter texture.Anna

I absolutely love all the products I’ve purchased! The sorbet is great for taming my slightly frizzy fine hair and just a little goes a long way. I especially love the sea salt spray which gives my fine hair great texture and the thick it is a game changer for me leaving my hair full. Best to use small amount to avoid a sticky feel. I like the blow out shampoo and conditioner as well as the leave in detangler spray. My hair looks and feels so much healthier and fuller than prior to using this line and I would highly recommend to anyone with thin hair to try. I love this product! I have thick, wavy, wild hair that has little bits shoot out in different directions. My daughter has smooth, wavy hair. My son has thick hair. Both of my children use this product. My daughter likes to use this product right out of the shower. She says she just loves the smell. My son's hair has a mind of its own. He uses this mixed with hair pomade to help style his "cow licked" spots and he also says it smells good too. I use this product mixed with the Satin Nectar and Glaze Hair Lotion to help with the crazy fly-aways, frizz, and "pretty up" my waves.Debbie B.

I read all the reviews about this product and wanted to see what the hype was about. I was like ok I’m sure it works but it’s not like holy grail like everyone is saying, especially mixed with the satin nectar…..yeahhhhh I was wrong because it’s definitely holy grail status! My hair is so freaking soft and smooth and is frizz free for days!! My hair doesn’t get as oily as it use to so I’m not having to wash my hair as much either. I love this this product! Finally something that does NOT make my hair more frizzy, crunchy, dry or greasy. I have fine to medium curly long hair, I am of Eastern European descent. I just use a very small amount like directions advised, worked it into my wet hair, scrunched it with my hands and let air dry. My hair is sooo soft, no frizz and my curls are defined. I have been searching for a natural product without chemicals that actually works. I love it! It also has a tropical fragrance that is not overwhelming and smells so good! I found this product yearssss ago when I first started the Curly Girl Method. It was very runny, white and much lighter. I ended up repurchasing it and when I opened it, it is incredibly yellow and thick and the ingredient list is completely different. I don't use it everyday to care but in general, Shea Moisture was my Go To absolutely favorite brand and I used their shampoo and conditioner for about 8 years- but I noticed it a couple of months ago stripped my hair and caused an insane amount of frizz. What a shame. I will never buy another Shea Moisture product. They used to have amazing ingredients, now they have all weird chemicals and the smells changed badly. this shampoo is wonderful. i typically keep my expectations low for shampoos that are sulfate free because they never clean my scalp properly. i'm a big fan of maui moisture shampoos, and this shampoo is kind of similar in the sense that it has a nice lather to it despite not having sulfates, and it does a good job at getting rid of grease and whatnot. i have to use about a palmful because i have a lot of hair, but to be honest i don't really mind because it's a cheap shampoo and there's a lot of product in the bottle, so i don't feel like i have to skimp on the product which is nice. it also smells amazing – very tropical and floral. it's a wonderful summer scent. on top of that, it was also actually curl defining! i don't have curls, but i do have wavy hair, and i was so surprised to see how defined my waves were after using this shampoo + conditioner. (i'm not sure if the shampoo alone would be enough to help define your curls but the combo of the shampoo and conditioner worked great!) all in all i think it's a great shampoo – good price and a good product.fi

I wanted to find a drugstore brand curly girl approved shampoo and conditioner. And this shampoo and conditioner is life changing! I had my hair cut as a wavy/curly for the first time and this was suggested by my stylist as a shampoo that is curly girl approved and would work for my 2b thick/coarse wavy hair type. I clarified, washed using the shampoo and conditioner, scrunched with the NYM gel and let air dry. My hair is less frizzy and dries in record time! I’m so thankful to have found this product! Bonus: My legs are very sensitive and the conditioner works as an amazing shave gel! Maybe it’s because it’s more natural, but my legs get painfully itchy at times from shaving (especially in dry winter months) but using this conditioner made me feel like a normal person! 10/10 recommend!EKS

This conditioner is excellent at delivering moisture deep into the hair, and washes away without any sticky/gummy residue like some conditioners do. It has fantastic slip and I would bet that anyone with straight, wavy, or curly (up to 3b-c) hair would enjoy this conditioner. It may not be moisturizing enough for coilies though, I’m not sure. I really like the smell and the value is good. The only down side is the pump- it SUCKS! Once you get the pump working, don’t try to touch it (or god forbid drop it in the shower), or it just won’t work. The nozzle won’t push down to dispense the product. But it’s curly girl method friendly, smells great, conditions the hair beautifully, and is good value. For reference I have very fine, long 2c hair. Worth a try!Yourskindeservesbetter

It's a bit pricey but trust me its worth it. I was tired of my hair feeling gross, dry on the ends and oily at the roots. I threw away all my other garbage shampoos and I finally found the shampoo of all shampoos. Def sticking with this one a little lathers up a bunch. I can go 2-3 days without looking like an oily mess. And it makes my hair smell soo good. Def worth the money if youre tired of your hair having build up.emily p.

So, I hesitated about writing this review because I don’t like to complain, and I did love this product when I first purchased it. My hair was soft, smelled great, and I even had people commenting on the health & shine it had. I loved this product so much I stocked up on it.

About a year into using this shampoo and conditioner duo along with the leave in treatment I noticed an unusual amount of hair fall. I thought nothing of it assuming it was my hair screaming at me for the heat/hair dye ect. However, I noticed it more and more and after 6 months of extreme shedding I decided I should look into what was going on. First i started taking supplements (Womens vitamins and biotin) assuming it was my dreadful diet to blame. No change. I put a shower head filter in to filter my shower water. No change. Then I went cold turkey on heat styling, and stopped using hair dye. Nothing seemed to help. I even bought different ‘it’s a 10’ products to try to “strengthen” my hair. I attempted to not wash my hair but once a week… still incredible amounts of fall out. I was lost. Finally I changed shampoo. I started noticing in the shower less and less fall out, soon brushing my hair produced less wads of hair to clean from my brush. It seems I have found the culprit. I have spent 6 months trying to identify what I was doing wrong, and all signs point to “it’s a 10”.

I’m posting this not out of anger, or spite, but because everywhere I looked I saw “how great” this product is …. I even asked my hair dresser what she recommended for hair fall and she asked what I use and I told her “it’s a 10” and she raves about how great the product is.

my hair is incredibly thin and I have little baby regrowth. I don’t want someone else to go through what I did and change shampoo when it’s too late. So if u r using it’s a 10 and noticing a lot of fall out… maybe it just doesn’t work for us?

I really like this shampoo and conditioner. It's a shame so many people left 1 star reviews because it just didn't work for them. It would be different if there was something wrong with customer service or the product itself. However, with skin care, nail care, and hair care so much of whether or not it'll work for you is left biology and body chemistry and you have to try different products to find the one that works with yours. So it's really unfair to leave negative reviews on products that don't match up with your unique chemistry.wifeofsauron

As I hit 60 I realized that my hair was not growing as fast and breaking, thinning and just dull! I was given this product while at PRIDE from a local beauty salon. They stated they use it all the time.
Well, I'll be using it all the time! My hair went from flat and dull to fluffy full and shiny.

It is sticky, stiff, and crunchy. I found that using a much smaller amount than the directions recommend, eliminates the stickiness. However, it’s still stiff & crunchy, which I find rather disappointing. Miracle Blowdry does provide good volume, but isn’t very humidity resistant. On a more positive note, it has a pleasant fragrance. Despite the fact I gave the product 3 stars, I will likely purchase it again since I do like the volume it adds to my hair.Jodi B.

I have NO idea why on earth this product was highly recommended for my extremely baby fine, thin hair when I asked for a light mousse. I was talked into this garbage. When I got out of the shower tonight with freshly washed hair, I sprayed this junk very sparingly! And immediately after I finished blow drying my hair felt DIRTIER than what it was BEFORE my shower! Within SECONDS after applying this gunk, my hair felt coated, limp and it stuck to my scalp. Had to re-wash my hair to get it out.Feeling Duped

This is hands down the best curly hair gel on the market. I use 2-3 pumps for my whole head and scrunch it in after applying a leave in conditioner to very wet hair. It starts by drying hard but then as the day goes on, your hair looks and feels so soft and the curls are still in place. If i’m looking for a stronger hold because of a slick-back ponytail or something, I usually opt for a stronger gel like Not Your Mother’s. However, I still use Uncle Funky’s Daughter every single day and it’s been excellent for my 3b hair! And CGM approved!!! Worth every penny and lasts long.Natalie

I branched out a year ago to try new products for my wavy hair and I stumbled on this one. I wasn’t sure at first because it’s a weird texture. Kinda like a watery gel. I wasn’t 100% sure it would help my hair. Omg. I was so wrong to be skeptical. This stuff is in my everyday hair arsenal. I scrunch this into my wet hair after a shower. Sometimes it’s all I use and it leaves my hair soft and gently defined. If I want stronger definition, I add in Marc Anthony’s curly mousse right after this and scrunch it in with a t-shirt then let air dry. Once dry, I scrunch with my hands or a t-shirt to get the “crunch” out and my hair looks so good after. It holds the waves in nicely all day long and strong.kelly.w

Feels just like snot!! And gets the job DONE! So just so that you know, I’m a lazy 4C natural. Meaning I do bare minimum to maintain a few strands of hair on my non-chemically treated hair. I literally do not use styling products, partially out of laziness but even more so out of fear of breakage and dryness etc. I took a chance, and for the first tome in years, I tried a styling product, and this was it. It’s a gel with the exact consistency of snot. First wash your hair, condition, leave in condition or whatever, and then while your hair is still soaking wet, apply a GENEROUS amount. Finger detangle/shingle/whatever you to that usually gets a little more definition in your hair and boom. Soft not crunchy curls. Such an amazing hold without feeling like your hair is going to fall out. No flaking. When I tell you I’m the perfect guinea pig for stuff like this because I am truly so prone to messing stuff up..GIRL. Listen to me. I don’t even know you and I know you’ll do better than I did, so your results are gonna pop!! I absolutely recommend this!marquita.h

This conditioner is amazing! Of all the conditioners I’ve ever used (I’m in my 20’s so I’ve been through a looot of conditioners!) this one is by far the best. I don’t need a huge amount of it to get my hair untangled, and when I do brush through it I barely have any tangles at all. It’s also very gentle on my hair and the smell is light and not overpowering. So impressed with this product and very glad to have found it. I also appreciate their commitment to using good ingredients. Definitely recommend to any curly/wavy haired people looking for a great conditioner.Hannah

Okay, at first I was suspicious about this product because I really only knew Sun Bum for their sunscreen so I was a little confused seeing they did products for hair. But guys…this product is AMAZING. As someone who constantly buys products to help her curly hair, this has been a life changer. I bought this on a whim because I was like, what's the harm in another product supposedly for curly hair? Boy was I surprised!! I used to cowash because I was having such a hard time keeping my hair from getting frizzy but as a consequence my roots would get kinda greasy and sometimes my curls didn't look as hydrated as the cowash would advertise. Finallyyyyy I found a product that actually hydrates my hair, makes it look great curly, and isn't making it frizzy or puffy. The only con about this product is that I really really wish they made versions of this product in larger bottles because the conditioner tends to go quickly especially if you have long curly hair like me. Delicious! Smells so good! I bought it to control frizz in my wavy hair. I am using in conjunction with the Curls & Waves Styling Creme and it is a nice combo for soft hair. I am comparing this product to the discontinued Matrix Shaping Oil Cream – my all time favourite product. I have short, thick, coarse hair and let’s start by the smell – it is absolutely divine. The product is smooth and easy to apply with the pump and leaves my hair feeling soft all day with a lovely shine to it. Downside, I am finding I am using more than what I actually need to control the fine stray hair strands that make it seem I have a halo!!! Would make travelling difficult as you will need to decant product into a leak proof container. Does compare well to the discontinued Matrix product and overall it is a good substitute for me and my needs.Lunda

As all other Moroccanoil products, this has a great and lasting scent. I'm not entirely sure the point of this product, but I apply it to my hair after showering and it definitely makes my hair a little more manageable. I air dry my hair and it seems a little less damaged and a bit smoother. Not perfect, but definitely better. This is my second purchase. I started with a trial bottle. I really liked it so went ahead and splurged on the full size. I am 50, my hair is nearly 100% white, and is not color treated, this is the result of natural aging. For this reason, my hair has uneven texture and can be quite dry. This product works well with my hair, giving me a smooth result without being oily or greasy. After trying this I bought the Silk Express Miracle Silk Leave-In. I'm contrasting my thoughts below. Miracle Leave-In Plus Keratin gives me a smooth, "finished" look without appearing greasy or oily. It dries quickly when styling and doesn't have a bad smell. However, it can cause my hair to feel somewhat synthetic. It's difficult to describe, but I believe that's the result of the keratin on the hair shaft. It's not bad, but it gives off hair that looks more styled, or "done," than I prefer. Silk Express Miracle Silk Leave-In also gives me a smooth, finished look, but it's a very natural look. My hair is bouncy and silky when I use the Silk Express Leave-In. With the Miracle Leave-In Plus Keratin, my hair appears like it's been flat ironed. Silk Express appears like a really light, natural blow out. Also, my hair feels silky, healthy, and naturally, by contrast the Miracle Leave-In Plus Keratin makes my hair feel fake. Neither product cause my hair to look or be greasy or oily, which is awesome, so I can go two or even three days without washing my hair and it's totally fine. The major thing I don't like about the Silk Express product is that it's got an overly perfumed smell (although it dissipates when dried) and that it takes 20 lifetimes for it to dry down. I mean, I'm literally standing, drying my hair, for half an hour with the Silk Express product. They say the Keratin product speeds up drying time. I don't find that to be the case at all. However, the Silk Express product really takes an inordinate amount of time to dry down – and goodness forbid you put too much on your hair. Both are good products, I have a bottle of each on my bathroom counter and use them regularly.Victoria

If i could rate this OVER a 5 , i absolutely would do that because this leave in conditioner is the best ive ever used …by far!! My 11 year old daughter and myself love using this for our very long hair because it makes our hair feel and look amazing , shiny and so healthy! And not just that, it smells wonderful as well. I cant imagine a world without 'Its a 10' leave in conditioner LOL!! You will never see my bathroom without this leave in conditioner spray on the shelves because i make sure we never run out of it, and go and order more before that can occur because i dont want to ever go back to a day when my hair was without Its a 10! This is a salon hair product basically as it was first sold in salons exclusively if i am not mistaken…and then later on it started being sold in drug stores , grocery stores, walmarts etc…However, it does still cost what salon exclusive products do for the most part. This might turn folks who have never tried Its A 10 products away from purchasing them. They are higher priced than most other drug store hair care items however, i can say with absolute certainty that the leave in conditioner spray i used faithfully is 100% worth every penny. It is very high quality and is golden in terms of hair care for sure!! When i first purchased the leave in conditioner spray, because i didnt know if i was going to like it enough to ourchase the fulll size product so i noticed there was smaller travel sized option for a lot less money obviously. So i purchased that initially to see if i approved of it for my hair specifically. That being said, i definitely recommend this leave in conditioning spray. It is a very necessary part of my own hair care routine and i highly recommend this quality product . You will love it!!!kara.f

I have used this product on a DAILY basis for the last 10 years! Though I ran out and tossed out the bottle today before I remembered to take a pic for my review, I still wanted to post SOMETHING! This product has SAVED my hair!! I haven't been dying it nearly as often as I used to years ago, but it still hasn't entirely healed from all of the processing I HAVE done in the past and due to this, I have semi dry, frizzy, and naturally curly hair. Using this product, fixes ALL of my issues! Not only does it work as a leave in conditioner, it's. Great detangler first and foremost! It leaves your hair milky soft, smells amazing, contains the frizz even in this insanely hot summer weather, along with many other benefits! I Highly recommend this to anyone, regardless of what your hair is like! Though it's a little bit pricey in some stores, it's worth every penny and a little bit of product goes a long way!megan.s

The Hold Me Softly Style Balm has become my favorite, essential styling product. I have fine, low-density, 3b-c curls, and this makes them pop, yet keeps my curls moisturized and soft. I would call it a Cream styler rather than a "balm", because to me, the word "balm" implies something heavier/oilier. But either way, it's awesome! My routine: (1) wash then rinse-out conditioner, (2) leave-in conditioner – either Curlsmith Weightless Air Dry Cream or Shine Cream in the shower, with hair soaking wet, (3) gently blot the drips in a microfiber towel, keeping hair still quite wet (4) apply Hold Me Softly Style Balm, (5) apply a light gel – either Curlsmith Shine Jelly or Hydro Style Flexi Jelly. I have also hade great results lately adding a step #4.5 to apply the amazing new Curlsmith Full Body Thickening Lotion. Because my hair is fine and thin, a little product goes a long way, so I just use a tiny amount when layering these products. Curlsmith has so many wonderful products! I love that no matter what your type of curl, they have something that works great! Their product scents don't linger, and I don't find that they clash with any other products or scents.Curley

I've been trialing new products consistently over the last year to really focus on what my hair needs after decades of doing the same routine, and this is one of the few from Curlsmith that really didn't do much for me. I have 3B/medium porosity curls and I was using the Curl Defining Styling Soufflé with marked improvement in my curls, then added this in after a month or so to see if I saw any difference. I really didn't. I kept using this, then switched to trialing the In Shower Style Fixer with it, then stopped this and my curls actually improved in definition without it. Must just be too heavy for my hair. I tried using different amounts for several weeks and really didn't get any benefit from it. I feel it weighed it down a bit if anything, and I had no improvement in curls or length of time between styling with it. Since it's not cheap, that's a definite no win for me.KrisK

It is a bit of a heavier formula so works wonderful for thicker dry hair, but will also work with thin hair if use less. This balm doesn't have any protein so no need to worry about protein overload. This is my routine: I apply balm in sections onto wet hair, comb hair with my brush to even spread out the product, and blow dry hair with diffuser attachment This balm gives nice volume and hydrates my curls and adds shine. It defines my curls without leaving a cast, too. Very impressed, will be repurchasing the jumbo size and will be checking out other Curlsmith products!! I received a free sample of this, and I am actually going to shell out the full price for a bottle of it because I cannot believe the difference it has made. My hair is ridiculously fine, thin, straight, and long. My hair is easily weighed down, doesn't hold texture, doesn't hold volume, and looks greasy by the end of the day no matter what. I cannot skip a single shower, and I avoid using product in my hair in any way, shape, or form because not only will my hair look unwashed, stringy, and greasy (even with dry shampoo), but my scalp will break out. I can't even stray from the same shampoo/conditioner I've always used because my hair will freak out. All that to say– I cannot believe this product works on me. The ends of my hair dry out terribly, and in general my hair has not been in great shape. On the first use, my hair definitely felt softer, but after about a week of using this at night before bed, and every other day also putting some on the bottom half of my hair after a morning shower made my hair look and feel smoother, too. Tangled hair has been minimized, and brushing my hair is easier– less snags than usual. The oil does not have that viscous, sticky consistency that other treatments have, and doesn't have the weight and texture that make my hair limp. It is a very light oil that feels dry on contact, and does not alter the texture of my hair when applied, but the difference in softness is definitely felt. It also smells freaking amazing. 10/10, will actually buy, and would buy again! So far, I love this product. I have color-damaged, fine, wavy, long, blonde hair. This oil is fairly thick, but I'm impressed with it's ability to still be dispersed evenly throughout my hair. I use this product on the mid-shaft to ends of my hair while it is semi-damp/nearly dry, usually prior to blow-drying. I use a wide-tooth comb to ensure the product is evenly disbursed. Since using this product, I've noticed a reduction in my split ends and my hair feels smooth, soft and silky. A little bit of this product definitely goes a long way. Other reviewers with fine hair have mentioned that this product weighed their hair down – and I can confirm that while this product made my hair look much healthier, I did notice a reduction in volume. This is a heavier, more dense hair oil than others that I've used. If you are looking to use a hair oil & still maintain volume, I'd suggest a lighter hair oil like Kerastase or Opalex. Compared to Kerastase or Opalex hair oils, I have noticed that this Moroccanoil oil seems to last longer – I currently am on day 3 of my hair and applied a nickle-sized amount of this oil once before I blow-dried my hair on day 1, and my ends are still silky smooth & I have not had to reapply. Whereas when I have used Kerastase or Opalex hair oils in the past, I've had to apply them 1-2x daily to continuously see results. This product also makes my hair feel clean after use – with other hair oils, my hair has felt like it has a residue on it. There’s so many things to list out for this moroccanoil treatment serum that I love so very much! I love the smell! It’s very calming. I use it after my showers and lightly finger it throughout the mid and ends of my wet hair, then I take my wet-hair detangling brush and gently brush through my hair to detangle and distribute the product (serum). once my hair air drys (yes, I’m one of those people but my hair thanks me for it!) my hair looks like I’ve had a team of people working on it for hours. It’s incredibly soft, easy to manage, my natural waves are much more defined, my hair overall feels healthier and more resilient and finally, the scent lasts for several days and so do the results. Long term I feel as though this will be what my hair has been begging me for! I’ve let my beautiful momma borrow the bottle so that she can experience what I’ve been ranting and raving about for days now. Fun little tidbit: my moms hair is down past the back of her knees and she’s also around 5’5. That’s a lot of long beautiful hair! her hair has always been long and longer than that my whole life so she’s certainly going to appreciate this oil! It’s a smaller bottle about the size of an essential oil bottle BUT don’t let that fool you! A drop goes an incredibly long way! I promise you if you give this stuff a try you’ll toss out (or donate) the 7 or so other brands of products you’ve desperately tried to make work over the years. I know I did!oanh.n

In the instructions of how to use this oil, it says to work it though hair after a blowout. Very often, I blow out my hair with the Dyson Airwrap round brush and self-grip rollers. Self-grip rollers have a tendency to pull at the hair and break off small strands. I definitely think this oil is great at smoothing those strands after the blow out. You don’t even have to use a full pump for the oil to do that job. With either 1 full pump or less, the oil smooths the hair without ruining the blow out or making it greasy. My hair gets greasy QUICKLY after washing, so I really enjoy that I can use this oil for blow outs & it doesn’t affect the time in which my hair usually starts getting greasy. Also in the instructions, it says you can use this oil in your hair before washing. I’ve done this a handful of times now. I find the oil dries down in a fair amount of time, so I like that I can douse my hair with multiple pumps, put it in a pony tail, and after about an hour, it looks normal enough to do do things that I don’t have to look really impressive for (ex: errands). However, I notice when I completely oiling my hair up with this, it’s rather drying in comparison to other oils. For instance, I also use the Shea Moisture 100% Argan Oil, which is much cheaper, and it gives my hair that smooth oily feel that I aim for prior to washing. With this oil, I find that myself going back and re-oiling my hair due to the dry feeling. Again, I’ve only used it as a prewash a handful of times, so I have NOT noticed yet that the dryness is a lasting affect after I wash. I haven’t tried this yet on wet hair. Overall, it’s great for blow outs since a small pump goes far and it is light weight. When using larger amounts, I notice the hair feels more than dry than oily, and I worry this will eventually affect the dryness of my hair. I feel that I can find a cheaper oil to smooth my hair after blowing it out.PastaPrincess69

This was so extremely disappointing, I even tried to give it the benefit of the doubt and used up the entire thing before giving my review. I honestly love so many Ouai hair products, their detox shampoo and scalp scrub are some of my absolute favorites! Unfortunately this was such a dud, I honestly cannot believe how many positive reviews this has received. First thing, the smell is atrocious. I like nice smelling products, and even if its unscented or a mild scent I usually don't mind but THIS! I could not get over the scent, its a very woody/herb/patchouli scent and its STRONG. Next issue I had with this is that it didn't really hydrate my hair, if anything it felt more dry after, it didn't really absorb and just sat on the hair looking wet/oily. Some hair oils I love for example are the Olaplex and Gisou hair oils!hailey.p

i got this in a free gift set of a lot of minis & samples and i didnt expect much from it at all; i have used many different hair oils before and never really "clicked" with any of them. i also didn't expect to even remember half the items i got in this sample kit because there were so many. this stood out enough for me to take a picture of the little sachet before throwing it out. i thought i accidentally used too much but even with me using a lot it didn't weigh my hair down at all. in fact it actually gave me more volume, somehow, and my hair usually gets flat & greasy quite quickly. it smells so nice and the scent is subtle but lingers all day. it made my hair look so glossy & thick. i will definitely be purchasing the full size soon.aj

Truthfully, I'm generally not into any sort of hair oil due to texture aversion–that goes for all brands. But I liked this! I do like how OGX made this oil as a mist instead of the other oil with the pump lid. In the past, the pump lid oil that is much thicker would stick everywhere else but where I wanted it on my hair! I really appreciate the innovation of an oil mist. Applying to the ends of my hair, the lighter mist oil adds some shine and softness to the touch. It smells faintly like coconuts with the floral perfumed scent that are found in hairspray—smells good though! It also might've pushed me to consider hair oils more often. I'm 51, and my once beautiful curly brown hair is just dull and lifeless. Been trying several shampoo brands for moisture and curls, from super cheap Suave to expensive Kendra, and everything in between. This exact product included. I haven't noticed hair loss like some say, but I have noticed since using this OGX bottle, my scalp is super itchy. Haven't experienced this with any other shampoos. It hasn't been a terrible brand to use, my curls are looking better again, but the itchiness is driving me crazy. Yet I have a friend that swears by it. This product has been changed and not for the better. I used to LOVE this product! Now there are some excellent one-star reviews on Amazon that really nail down the problem. Here it is very simply: this product used to have Cyclotetrasiloxane as its number one ingredient. Now its number one ingredient is Dimethicone. Look them up on the web. Whereas you used to have a luscious dry shine to your hair you now have a greasy fly away style. The oil will actually come off on your hand it is NOT a DRY shine. They even took the word shine out of their description and now they call it hydration. The molecular structure of the Dimethicone will not allow you to put another product on top of it to round out your hair care routine. ASK FOR YOUR MONEY BACK!!MIKEY77

I'm a natural with 4a/4b hair that mainly does wash n goes. I wanted a gel to layer for hold that had better ingredients than eco and wetline. I planned to use this as a topper. I've experienced that this product offers great hold, it does not control frizz very well due to the light/watery consistency. I used a botanical gel underneath and I think my hair would have had more frizz control if I used it on damp hair vs. soaking wet. I feel as if my hair dried quicker while using this product (I did sit under the hooded dryer) and the application was super easy. I felt that it had slip due to the consistency. The hold that this gives is correct. I would describe it as a firm-medium. Definitely not a strong hold. And I would agree with the reviewer that said the curls need to be sculpted beforehand. This is not going to give you much definition alone. Use this for additional hold and control. Overall, I think I would purchase again and I'm interested in trying their strong hold gel.Jasmine

I love this product. After my leave-in I usually have a few tangles, but when I use this cream instead of my usual cream, it gave me the best slip and gets all the tangles out that my leave in did not attack, and I had no frizz. It cut my wash day in half. It used to take me an hour in a half to do my hair (tangles, ugh!), now it only takes 45 – 50 minutes. My curls were so hydrated and defined. I just love this product. Don't let the size of the bottle make you think you need a bigger bottle because a little is all you need…about the size of a quarter if you're doing sections (I do 4 sections) but use it according to your hair density. My hair is a thick density on the top (this was great for that) and my hair is 3C/4A. It works perfect my sista's. Try it. Also, I noticed it has shea butter in it…a major plus for moisture. My process is LCG, I have oil that I use after wash day, but I tell you with this cream, you really don't need it. I didn't. Curl Talk don't ever change the formula!Robbin-Lynn

I have type 3c/3b Hair so I am always needing a good hair gel. I do like the original gel in this curl talk line. It provides adequate hold. Once this gel was introduced, I knew I had to try it. It does have a sticky consistency. But I am sure that is what helps the gel give that extra hold. You will have a hard cast on your hair once it is dry, but u can always break the cast if u want to. This gel holds up to humidity well. My advice since it is so sticky to the touch and to avoid tangling your hair is to apply your typical styling products before hand, and add this gel at the very last. It will be easier to work through the hair and wont leave a tangles mess. This is not a good gel if you feel like refreshing or combing out your hair the next day, just cause the extra hold that it does give. I originally received this shampoo as a sample. When I used the shampoo, it seemed to lather well on my head and give my hair a good wash. I have naturally curly so I air dried my hair as normal and when it dried, it appeared flat and dry and my scalp was flaking. My hair is normally shiny and voluminous so I knew this wasn’t the right shampoo for me. I would recommend this shampoo to someone who has naturally straight to semi wavy hair and has oily hair. It just didn’t do it for me with my curly hair.caroline.w

I always put Argan Oil in my hair after I wash it, so I figured this shampoo and conditioner would be great for my damaged color-treated hair. First of all, I’m not too fond of the smell. Second of all, it left my hair looking and feeling dry, and my hair seemed to break off even more. I used the conditioner without the shampoo and it worked a little better, but it still wasn’t what I was looking for or what I’d hoped for. If your hair is healthy and not color-treated, then this might be okay for you. Otherwise, save your money! There are plenty of other products that are so much better.tracy.b

This shampoo and conditioner along with this whole line needs a award. I have high-end shampoo and conditioner that doesn't even compare to this. My hair sheds alot but grows alot. I noticed alot of shampoo I've used lately has made my hair fall more then normally this shampoo has never or I get 1 or 2 hairs in the drain which is amazing! I nearly cried my hair has been growing in thicker sense using this shampoo and conditioner. I had a tiny patch of hair gone near my hair line that was due to wearing my hair up to tight and it's growing back now due to this shampoo alone I can't even believe it! I am a huge believer in leave in conditioner after washing my hair. What I love about this product is that I only need a very small amount for my hair to feel amazing. It is a decent size bottle filled with a good amount of product so this curl milk will last me forever! When I do eventually run out, I will be re-purchasing. Like the other products in this coconut oil line, this curl milk smells amazing! I have wavy hair that is pretty dry, so I definitely need a product like this one. I only used about a dime size amount and that is plenty for me. If you have curlier hair than me, I would recommend using a bit more of this product than I do. With the little amount of product that I use, I am able to effortlessly detangle my hair. I have used this product when I have let my hair air dry and when I have used a blow dryer to style it. I received this product for free from Influenster and Maui Moisture in exchange for my honest review. The whole collection (shampoo, conditioner, and curl milk) smell amazing. They have a coconut scent that makes you feel like you’re in the tropics. The packaging for the products is very nice and looks like something you’d receive at a luxurious spa. None of the products are tested on animals, which is always great! The curl milk wasn’t good for my 4a/4b natural hair. I followed the instructions to put the product on towel-dried hair. A lot of curly hair products go on easily and produce a nice, bouncy curl. This curl milk was so thick, like lotion, and didn’t blend into my hair easily. I really had to rub it in a lot before the white product disappeared. It was hard to apply to my hair and it didn’t produce any nice curls. If anything, it took away the lovely curls I had after using the Maui Moisture shampoo and conditioner. I opted to not take a picture of the results because of how dull and dry my curls looked. Although this smelled great, I likely won’t use the curl milk again.ty.b

I tried the shampoo, conditioner, and curl cream so my review is for all 3 together. First of all, the scent!! It is the most amazing tropical coconutty scent that really lasts on your hair. The shampoo is Curly Girl approved but the other products are not, unfortunately. This line is designed for thick curly hair but I have thin slightly wavy hair, so understand that my review is coming from that perspective. The shampoo lathered up really nicely but didn’t feel like it was stripping my hair. It’s sulfate free so I’m not sure where the lather was coming from but I loved it! The conditioner and curl cream had really good slip and helped me form great clumps. Because my hairs are thin, I chose to put the cream on soaking wet hair and scrunched most of it out (I believe the directions say to use it on towel dried hair). I finished off with mousse and was left with a great cast that scrunched out beautifully. While I’m a little concerned about the non curly girl approved ingredients, overall this is an awesome line and such a steal!! Very happy!joyce.r

This defining cream is simply good. That is a fact. Smells mildly like almond oil. Has tons of slip. TONS OF SLIP. Defines curls and moisturized. Will recommend and will buy again. This stuff is amazing! It’s a custard type of product(even though it says cream) so it has a massive hold and it helps weigh my hair down a little which I need for stretched hair. It also leaves my hair really smooth and moisturized. And it smells amazing! You’re probably seen me say that in a lot of my reviews but I can’t help it. A lot of brands have amazing smelling products. Which is great, kudos to them and keep it coming please. My only gripe is that it’s a teeny over the price I normally pay for hair products. That 3-6 dollar difference may not seem like a lot but it does add up eventually. But even so I still would repurchase this product often because it’s a really great productsumiyyea.a

I really wanted to LOVE THIS but something was off for me. I used this for a full month before reviewing. The smell is the best thing about this smoothie. When first applied it feels like a leave in conditioner and it smells great. I usually air dry my curls and after putting mouse or oil they will curl naturally on their own into “romantic style� curls. HOWEVER with this smoothie the hair becomes limp heavy wavy and the product is essentially very waxy rather than moisturizing after drying. I have no curls after using it just a frizzy mess after using this and even by twisting the smoothie into each strand as per the instructions to create curls it does not facilitate curls… the hair needs to be fully washed by the next day. Additionally this broke me out so so badly. I couldn’t even keep my face on the pillow after using this product. My hair needed to be washed out the next day. Horrible breakouts on my face and back after using this and then they stopped once I stopped using it / stopped sleeping on my hair after putting this smoothie in. You get a lot of product which is nice but it’s almost causing me more hassle by weighting down my hair and causing the need to wash more frequently and I have to avoid my hair touching my body while using it due to the thick clogging waxiness of it. So the moment I took this product out of the box I absolutely LOVED the smell ! It would be to a point that I would walk by and just open it so I can smell it ! It smelled amazing ! Now regarding my hair I’m not sure if I put to much or my hair just wasn’t liking it ! It left a very weird feeling in my hair and I found that it made my hair look greasy/wet ! It did keep my curls ( in the pic) a nice curl as if I just brushed my hair after a shower! I've been using the shampoo, conditioner, and curl smoothie for the last little while and, my word, my curls have never felt so soft! I'm very much a wash and go kind of girl. I cannot be bothered putting much effort into my hair so I was happy to try a product that was so easy peasy. I washed, conditioned, worked the curl smoothie (it's like a cream) through my damp curls, let it dry, and voila! Super soft, lovely smelling, healthy looking curls. The only *teeny* downside is my curls aren't as bouncy as they could be with other products but I think what this product is doing is making my curls the best they are naturally.
