20 Best Hair Products For Flat Ironing (Feb 2023 Update)

I have thick wavy/frizzy hair (no curls) with highlight/low light to help deal with growing out grays. Paul Mitchell Straight Works is perfect for my hair. This stuff is thick so I use it sparingly in sections and comb it through, I then lightly spray Kenra Platinum Blow Dry all over to protect from blow dryer. Works great together. This does not have heat protectant (as stated on bottle). If you use heat tools you should use a heat protectant with this. I love it!Klea36

One of the best straightening products I have ever used but not much of a heavy fragrance so, no parfume clashing I personally love the lack of fragrances but if you love a heavy perfume smell in your hair products this isnt for you. Its not greasy at all but not drying. My hair is very thick, confused wanna be curly and frizzy and this worked incredibly well and kept my hair smooth for 2 days. It worked better than I expected and my hair felt wonderfully soft and was incredibly straight. I did add the product, blow dryed it straight with my larger round brush, add a little more of the product evenly throught my hair a send time, then I straightened with my flat iron. Thats how I chose to do it bec ause its the only process Ive has work on my Hermione Granger 1st year type of hair. I do not recommend this product not only did it dry my hair, but it did absolutely nothing. My hair is curly and frizzy so I was really excited to try this product unfortunately it was a pure disappointment. Thank Paul Mitchel my hair hates me more than ever. I will never use this product again, it said to put a little bit, but it did not work so I put more shocker shocker nothing happened. Bottom line is do not waste your money on a product that does nothing and the cheery on top breaks my hair and dries it out. Do not tell me I did not warn you.Maybae

I bought this a couple days ago. My hair struggles to hold curl cause it's thin regardless of having a lot of it. I sprayed this on layer by layer ran my fingers through and let dry. Then styled and they held beautifully. Especially in the nape area which has been the most difficult place on my head to hold a curl! So thankful I was recommended this product!Holly

I’ve been using this product for years. If I was reviewing this product a few years ago I’d give it 5 stars. As of late I’ve moved away from heat styling and accepting my natural texture. This product was my best friend for quite a-few years. After blowing out my hair I’d section out my hair and give them a healthy spraying with this spray. I never had any issues with greasiness or stickiness. My hair always looked smooth and stayed nice and soft. This definitely combats frizz and does a nice job protecting against thermal heat. The biggest issue I had with this product is the fragrance. It’s pretty heavy and sweet. It Always made me sneeze! Without fail. Obviously I put up with it, but it definitely irritated my nose. Now that I’m a bit more ingredients conscious there are silicones and alcohols in here, as well as some irritants such as linalool, limonene, and citronellol.justine.f

This is a fantastic product, its honestly the first heat protectant product thats actually worked when I straighten my fine hair!! I straighten almost daily and have been straightening for 25 years so you can imagine how many products Ive tried!! Always searching for the perfect product!!! I discovered this after watching a YouTube video last summer and decided to try it, this is the second bottle so it lasts for ages too. Great product! I have thick, coarse, frizzy, somewhat wavy hair. I shower at night let it air dry. When i wake up in the morning my hair is so frizzy. Even when I’m in a hurry just want to pull it back into a ponytail I still have to get the straightener out to smooth over my rots at my part along my face. If i apply a generous amount of this to my hair after showering while it’s wet then when i wake in the morning my roots/fly-aways are smooth don’t need straightened. It doesn’t really straighten my hair any, but does tame down some of my frizz to make my waves look better!amber.e

I am 30 years old. 30! Never in my life have I managed to find the balance between silky and greasy hair. UNTIL NOW. No joke. My hair is thin, wavy (in a bad way), broken, frizzy, and prone to oil build up: so I do nothing and I look like Charlize Theron from Monster, or I do a minuscule amount of styling and look like Wormtongue from LOTR. Last night I wet my hands an applied a very small amount of this – pea sized – to half-dried (shoulder length) hair. It was sticky going in, but then I blow-dried the rest of the way with a round brush and OHMYGOD my hair has never been this silky in my life! All my broken ends were laying down flat and nothing was heavy or greasy like my hair usually is with this type of product. Wow I am impressed by this product. I read the discription and thought I would go ahead and give it a try. I am naturally dark brown, but I went blonde. Going blonde left me with dry brittle very damaged hair. Lately it has been rough trying to blow dry straight all the little fly aways that comes with damaged hair. I applied this product on my damp hair generously. It felt like a thick sticky cream while applying, and I was nervous that it was going to make my hair sticky and dry or crisp. I applied a generous amount to 4 sections of hair (about the size of a quarder from root to tip). After blow drying with a round coarse brush I was able to have straight hair that looked amazing and it felt smooth. I thought it looked exceptionally straight for the most part and I skipped hot ironing it flat because I thought doing so would eliminate the body that I had already going on with the round brush. It is now day 2 since using this product and wow… Normally my hair is a tangled mess because of all the bleaching. My hair looks AMAZING! It practically looks healthy looking, even though it is not. I have been using this for about a year now, at the suggestion of my hairdresser. My hair is frizzy-curly. I used to never be able to let my hair air dry or blow it dry without straightening it. Thanks to this stuff, I no longer have to worry! It has a fruity smell that helps me start my day off on a positive note. I just put it in my hair every time I get out of the shower. There are no guidelines anywhere, but my hair is shoulder-length (and fluffy), and I use about a quarter size amount in my palm. I rub it between my palms and then spread through my hair. One thing I've noticed is that if you let your hair air dry, it will harden in your hair. However, this is easily mitigated by either brushing your hair again or just running your fingers through your hair when it's dry (or close to dry). Whenever I get too cocky and think that my hair has just somehow magically changed, and I don't use this product for a day, I immediately remember and regret it! I purchased this to deal with my frizzy coarse hair that has been misbehaving badly with all the wet weather in Sydney. The product claims that the styling effect will last up to 3 days or until the next wash. The instructions say to use on damp or wet hair so I use it while drying my hair after a wash. It is heat-activated, so you need a hair dryer, and preferably finish with a flat iron. On my thick long hair I need about 15-20 sprays and comb through. The product does assist with heat protection and styling, and my hair does look smooth and straight as it usually does after using a flat iron. I am always looking for products that help my hair stay in good condition and actually look healthy. Also, I need added body because my hair is very fine and also thin. Since I used few heated tools, I know they can be damaging to my hair. In reading about Thermal Magique I decided to purchase it. The shipping took forever. Literally, a month. I’m not sure if I chose the right things for my hair or if I just honestly don’t like them. The tops of the shampoo and conditioner bottles are poorly designed and hard to squeeze. In two attempts to wash my hair I had to squeeze so hard that when it did come out half the bottle sprayed onto my wall and was wasted. I didn’t expect it to help with flakiness much but it didn’t work for making my scalp less itchy either. I can’t speak to the effectiveness of the Thermal Magique because I’ve been too discouraged by how it and the Sorbet feel in my hair to style it. I just had my hair cut short to because of damage but it is still hard to find a heat protector. So I am came across Fantasia, checked the reviews and sector buy it. I will say this 1. It isn’t oily 2. It does smell good like candy, 3. It doesn’t take much. But it didn’t quite stop the frizz. I use this on days I plan on using a flat iron. I use a dime size amount and work it through my hair before blow drying with my round brush. It really helps tame my frizz and keep my hair manageable. My scalp tends to get oily quickly and sometimes products like this make it worse. However, I haven't noticed that when using this. Love this! Bought a 2nd tube to have on hand if they ever discontinue it. I have fine textured, semi-curly bleached hair, but a lot of it. i was sent this by influenster to try for free and give my opinion. I only use salon products on my hair bc my hair is curly, color treated, and has been thru it. I was really excited to try this out bc the idea of using heat protectant throughout the whole hair process is genius. unfortunately, this missed the mark and left my hair extremely dry and brittle and more damaged in the end. I even tried using just one or two of the products from this line and it’s still left my hair dry. I even gave this a good try for about a month and had to stop because of how dry my hair was getting. Shampoo: This shampoo has such a generous lather – which I wouldn’t expect from a sulfate free shampoo. The citrus and floral notes combined give off a very peach Bellini moment. The shampoo is good with initial detangling but I usually would wait until I have added a conditioner to really comb through my curls. I will say that it removes plenty of buildup and my hair genuinely feels clean after. You could definitely get away with conditioner first and shampoo second with this because of the moisture factor. It’s clean, but not stripped or straw-like. Conditioner: This conditioner has amazingggg slip! It was so easy to detangle my hair. I have to say that the mix of mandarin and floral notes comes across as a peach Bellini to me. My hair was very moisturized and absorbed my styling products better. I want to write one review for all these products because simply put I’m kinda bummed and I don’t want to repeat the same thing in different forms for each review. I wasn’t aware that this line being sent to me for review would be a system for straightening your hair. Mizani has products for hydration that I’ve purchased before like leave in conditioning sprays for my hair that I’ve really enjoyed so I thought it would be something along those lines and it obviously wasn’t. I’m on a natural journey with my curly hair and I don’t wish to put heat on it anymore however I did try these products and I feel the same about all of them. They all smell good and yes they do their job but I will say the amounts you get for the price is a little crazy when I’ve had a routine for straightening my hair years ago that was a lot cheaper and the products lasted unlike these. I don’t think they products will be very lasting for people and my hair is only to my shoulders so I can only imagine how quickly someone with long hair would go through these small but pricey sizes. So while they work and smell really good I don’t think it’s worth it for what you’re getting when you can find better heat protectants and products to keep hair smooth and shiny for less money. This was the first time I purchased this. Im so impressed with L'Oreal products, like hair color, facial creams, shampoo I thought I would try it. Amazing humidity resistant hair straightening, blowdry treatment. Keeps my 60 year old color treated red hair looking 20. LOVE IT! It makes your hair so silky and if I curl it, it takes the curl fine. Be carefully to use a slight mist since the product goes a long way. It also can make vynil floors slick. I bleached my hair twice in three days and the second day of bleaching my hair it was completely fragile to the point where I literally did not want to brush it because every time I did hair and hair would fall off and I'm talking chunks of hair. I immediately remembered about this product, because I had used it in the past and it had made wonders for me. This time it still came through for me, I bought the shampoo and conditioner along with the hair repair mask and like I said it didn't disappoint me at all. As soon as I washed my hair with it I was able to feel the difference, after brushing my hair my hairbrush would have little amount of hair. I have used it about 5-6 times since I've bleached it and my hair is starting to feel back to normal. Honestly if it wasn't for this I think my hair would have been super short by now because of all the breakage I had. I also would recommend you not washing your hair daily, allow 2-3 days in between each hair wash to let your hair rest but that's only if your hair is as bad as mine was. This creme is INCREDIBLE. If you have 2c-3a HIGH POROSITY & PROTEIN THIRSTY hair, this will be amazing for you. I have 2c-3a very low porosity, protein sensitive thick hair. Unfortunately this over-proteinized my hair type after just one use. By the second, my hair was strawlike in texture- though my curls were still beautifully enhanced with a lot less frizz & super bouncy. Both of which are hard to achieve as I'm just starting my curly hair care journey. I'm only taking a star off because it feels exactly how it describes- a lotion for your hair. You know how when you put hand lotion on? And you wash your hands later and the lotion reactivates? That's sort of what this feels like on the hair, except it never really dries down. It also felt like it created buildup because of that. By the second time of use, I felt like I had to wash it out with clarifying shampoo. I used a big amount the first time, and small the second- not really any difference in feel, just less curl definition. But that is virtually the only downside this product had. Just make sure your hair actually NEEDS the protein this packs, if it doesn't then this will kill your hair.k

I use this on damp hair and let it air dry. Before this product I had flyaways and frizz. However after using this product I can definitely say that my hair looks amazing! I can't imagine how much better it will look if you use heat styling tools! I would recommend for anyone to try but note: you really don't need a lot. It's color damaged and very dry and frizzy so I either need to add curling cream to get my waves or fully blow dry it straight. I used to use the Bb repair blow dry cream and that made my hair silky after a blow dry. This product left me with a residue on my hair I can feel. I was on TIK TOK late one night, as usual, and came across a hair dresser that recommended the Verb Ghost line shampoo, well one thing led to another and I found that Ulta has a starter kit that included the shampoo, conditioner, prep, and oil. So because it was such a great deal, I ordered a kit and added their deep conditioner because who doesn't like having a deep container to try as well. While I waited 3 days for my order to arrive, I allowed my hair to get as dirty as possible. If I was going to try this line, I wanted to get the full effect on the first use. The order finally arrived and I ran to the bathroom like a giddy school girl that couldn't wait to try this product line. Let's talk packaging! It is simple but high end. To be honest, the name Ghost and it being a black bottle, is what originally won my goth little heart! The smell was about average for salon quality hair care, which is great because I knew it wasn't filled with a bunch of artificial fragrances. I did my usual lather rinse repeat, followed with the deep conditioner that I let sit for 5 mins, towel dried my hair, added a little squirt of the Verb Ghost Prep through out my whole head, combed out, then added 2 pumps of the oil to my ends. Now usually that is where I stop because I HATE blow drying my hair. But today was different and I needed the results ASAP. So I grabbed my blow out brush and started at work. The results? My hair was so healthy and shiny! It smelled so good, felt amazing, and it actually had some volume! This stuff (when used sparingly) didn't make me feel weighed down at all. And because my hair is so long, usually most products make my hair feels so heavy and feels like it left a gross film on my strands. Now I will say, don't use the Prep if you want to air dry your hair. I have done it a couple times now, and it leaves my hair kind of crunchy feeling towards the roots. I Love love love. I just used this last night and super pleased with the results. I have very fine hair and it does not weigh it down or feel greasy like others posted. It has a nice scent too. So many hair products have silicone which over time coats the hair but not allowing moisture in and can leave build up and dry hair from inside out. This hair product has none of the bad stuff and leaves my hair feeling nourished and protected. It smells nice but for me doesn't do that much. I like this brand though. This product is definitely a balm as in it does not help shape your hair. It does help to smooth frizz but if your hair gets wavy and frizzy in humidity like mine does, this product does not have much impact. I will use it up though. I Bought the travel size Neuro Iron Hairspray. Just as a previous reviewer states, the spray nozzle stopped working. I curled half of my hair and the bottle stopped spraying the product. It was making a hissing sound , but no spray. The canister still has plenty of liquid that I can't use 😕. I have never had a product stop working so quickly. I normally keep products I'm not crazy about and use them as back up if needed. I will return this because I can't use it. Oh well.Harle78

After seeing some many people reviewing this heat protection spray I decided to give it a try! It was a wasted of my money! First of all this heat protection it's not for all hair types, I have a coily 4a-4b hair and it wasn't good at all! As soon I applied the spray my hair gets stick and coarse. It got worse when I started to use the blow dryer. The smells it's not that good, I didn't the texture of my hair after using that. I'll definitely not buying this again.michele .b

I like that it supposedly protects your hair from heat, adds volume and at the same time has some hold to it. It would have been a dream come true for a person with fine wavy hair. But unfortunately it underperforms on 2 of those promises. It doesn't really add anything to the volume and it has no hold. There's no way for me to know how well it protects my hair from any heat exposure. I'll finish this bottle, but most likely will not repurchase. Whenever I find a bargain on ebay, I always wonder if it is an authentic product. In this case, the items in genuine, and a superb bargain. I don't like hot iron sprays that leave the hair wet, this spray is a dry aerosol, which leaves the hair super shiny and protected. What ever crate traveling hound needs a water supply that does not lead to a soaking wet bed. This is it some minor dripage will happen but not soaking from mouth to bed water dump or th human error as you drive around a corner and get dogy sworn at. They ar tough too just th p&p to th UK is steep. Let me preface this by saying that I have bleach blonde hair from dark brown, so I know how do serious damage my locks. I don't often dry/straighten my hair for this reason but I love the look/feel. This product changes everything! I use some leave in conditioning spray (Loma) then spritz this on top, brush and dry my hair. It dramatically cuts down on drying time and reduces frizz. Then I use a bit more in layers as I straighten and WOW my hair looks and feels amazing! It gives it enough oomph so that its not stringy straight, feels like silk, and lasts for days! First of all, I love the packaging. If I was going into a store with no idea on what anti-frizz products to choose, I would be immediately drawn to this range. It’s a fantastic choice in packaging design; very aesthetically pleasing and likely now my favourite hair product packaging. The colours are right up my alley. The usability of the packaging is also fantastic. The squishy tube is super easy to squeeze, making using this with wet/slippery hands no trouble at all. It also ensures the product is completely depleted when finished, either squeezing it out or cutting open the packaging which isn’t easy with hard plastic packaging. This shampoo is lightly fragranced and I quite enjoy the pretty scent which isn’t overpowering at all, and doesn’t seem to linger. I didn’t need to use much to create a large amount of foam which lathered quickly, which is exactly how I prefer shampoos to act. I love the addition of Aloe Vera in products as I find it hydrating and soothing, which this shampoo is. It wasn’t irritating or drying for my scalp and my hair felt decently hydrated and soft afterwards. It’s no substitute for a proper hydrating shampoo though if you have really dry hair (though I did find the matching smoothing crème adds some lovely hydration). The shampoo was also easy to rinse out, which is always a plus, meaning I could move onto the next step in my hair care routine and have more time for other things later. Using this with the conditioner, the amount of frizz in my hair was greatly reduced. I experienced very minimal frizz which is usually unheard of unless I smother it with something which makes me also look greasy and/or weighs it down. Instead, for the extra frizz that appears when in humid environments, or when my hair gets damp from rain or perspiration, I can now use the matching smoothing crème for that unwelcome frizz and look like I’m not using any product. It really is weightless, as well as non-greasy. If you have any amount of frizz and want to reduce it without sacrificing the bounce and lightness of your natural hair, I highly recommend giving this shampoo and the matching conditioner and smoothing crème a try. I have pin straight hair. My daughter on the other hand has the beautiful, bouncy ringlets I have always wanted. Because I'm totally in the dark on how to do/what to use on her hair, it has been a major learning curve to have her hair really be as beautiful as it can be every day. I have purchased MANY products, including some that were way too expensive in trying to learn what her hair needs. It wasn't until I received a sample of John Frieda Dream Curls Conditioner from PinchMe, that I knew I found it! To be fair, I used the sample both with (I went out and purchased it) and without John Freida Dream Curls shampoo. For starters, this conditioner has a nice, silky feel and a rather dense consistency. Because I know her hair needs a thicker conditioner, I was already excited. It has a very wonderful and somewhat strong (but not nauseating) fresh scent that does carry onto the hair well. It works through wet hair very well and makes detangling easy. It rinses out easily from the hair and keeps a good amount of moisture locked in. After showing, her hair was very easy to comb. We are both VERY pleased at the results of this conditioner! (That's why I went out and purchased the shampoo!) It keeps the hair very moisturized, makes it super silky and shiny and gives her gorgeous ringlets incredible definition, body and bounce! He hair feels healthy, smells amazing (which is incredible because she is 11 and has that hormonal head/hair now that needs to be washed daily), and it feels and looks SO HEALTHY! I know everyone's hair is different and what may work for some may not work for others (you can see the evidence of that by looking at all the products in my bathroom), but I feel like this conditioner is great for anyone with big loopy curls, waves, and even straight hair that needs extra moisture! Bottom line, I'm VERY happy I've finally found the perfect product/s for my daughter hair and that they are affordable too!gina_ny_btkt6

While I did receive John Frieda Dream Curls Conditioner complimentary from PINCHme, my opinions are honest and my own. I don’t have DEEPLY curly hair but I do have a wave to my hair, which is a fine texture. I live in an area that also has a high humidity so it’s so important to have protection against the dreaded frizz! After a hair wash, I applied the cream based conditioner and as my usual process I left it in for a few minutes to really set in and soak into my hair. I really loved the scent, pleasant but not overpowering, just light and relaxing! It left my hair feeling clean and nourished, smooth to the touch with the benefit of keeping the hair detangled. It’s also sulfate and paraben-free, which I find treats my hair well. After letting my hair dry (I generally let it naturally dry unless I need to style it) I felt it really still felt moisturized and healthy, ready to take on styling but to give my hair natural bounce and strength. I would absolutely recommend this for anyone with wave to curly hair to add benefit to those lovely locks of hair!!holly_fl_blkjx
