My hair is naturally curly. I tried many products to try and keep the freeze at bay. The humidity where I live is ridiculous. This actually helped me out so so much. My hubby bought me the dyson hair curler set, as soon as I was done the curls would fall and the frizz took over. I wanted to love the dyson, but was really regretting the amount my hubby paid for it. Mixed chicks saved me totally… I gave it a try with my dyson and it actually worked wonders. I air curled it yesterday and they are still looking good today. This does work on all hair types. My oldest daughter's hair is closer to mine with a lot of frizz and my youngest has the brittle hair texture with the tighter curls. Both are also loving this. Price is a bit high, which is why I wanted to do a review…it is worth taking that chance….I am so glad I did.Penny
My go to leave in. Blends in smoothly and my hair soaks up this product. What needs to be improved is the smell of this product because it's underwhelming. Also sometimes the product can leave my curls crunchy if I don't follow up with a smoothing styling cream or an oil. Other than that I find that these are small sacrifices based off the other leave-in conditioners that are on the market that will sometimes leave my hair with lots of residue or no moisturized. I am no hair expert. I have semi curly, semi wavy, straight in some places, a little dry here, a little oily there type of hair. It just doesn’t know what it is doing. This is the first product in many years that has actually helped my curls. As a woman of 50+ years of age my hair texture has changed and my curls have not been “right” for years. I really like using these products and how my hair feels after using them. I ordered the whole set during the flash sale and when I received the products the shampoo, conditioning spray, and the conditioner weren't closed properly so most of the product was in the bottom of the box. I sent an email about the issue but I received another email for a link that doesn't work to open a ticket. No one has reached out to me and I have been sent the same link twice. This is one of my top five shampoos for people who have a four c hair texture! The smell is amazing. It definitely gives off hints of pomegranate and honey which is the perfect snow combination. It provides a thick rich and full leather without having to use 17 pumps of shampoo. I Projects like that mielle products are parabens and sulfates paraffins and mineral oil all free. I will be the first to say that being that I have for sea hair this is not a detangling product. Moisturizing absolutely. Cleaning your hair it also removes all the impurities. I was a little disappointed when I received my black Friday package from Mielle. I have ordered before and have been pleased but this time it was like everything was thrown in a box and shipped. The box was so beat up its like the products could have came out and almost would have im certain had it been tossed around any more and I know that part wasn't so much their fault but I figured it would have been put into another box to ship to prevent that problem. The products had no confetti at least to soften how its thrown around everything was so greasy i thought for sure a product or 3 were leaking and also nothing was wrapped at least in bubble wrap considering how it was boxed up. Literally just thrown in the box any kind of way. So happy to have gotten this complimentary product from Maui Moisture in exchange for my review! I’m giving this shampoo five stars because it did a great job of cleansing my hair, made it super shiny, and is overall one of the more natural products on the market that’s able to check all these boxes, especially for its price point. I’m in loooove with the soft refreshing peppermint scent, and tingling feeling, especially during the hot summer season it gives you an extra fresh feeling. To note, I’m not sure the Maui system really helped curl definition for me, maybe after some time it helps. As part of the voxbox, I got the Maui leave-in curl smoothie. I found that you kind of need to use the leave-in crème because the shampoo and conditioner set, for me at least, made my hair a bit more on the untamed side. That said, the shampoo itself is amazing so long as you use a product/heat style after. I also like that it’s is free of sulfates, silicone, parabens and is vegan too! Highly recommended and I’ll be buying it again.
I received the Strength Length + Caster Neem Oil Conditioner for free from @Influenster and @mauimoisture for an honest review. The has a medium to thick consistency, and it smells amazing with a slight minty scent. It is kind of hard to describe the scent properly but it is really nice. The application of this conditioner is great, it has great slip which makes detangling a breeze and the product goes a long way. So happy to have gotten this complimentary product from Maui Moisture in exchange for my review! I think the shampoo and conditioner together do a good job at cleansing your hair, made my hair very shiny. I’m in loooove with the soft refreshing peppermint scent, and tingling feeling, especially during the hot summer season it gives you an extra fresh feeling. After using the conditioner and Maui shampoo, I also used Maui leave-in curl smoothie. I found that you kind of need to use the leave-in crème because the shampoo and conditioner set, for me at least, made my hair a bit more on the untamed side. If I’m being honest, I didn’t notice much defined curls from the conditioner, you’d need some sort of product after. That said, it’s a good conditioner so long as you use the curl smoothie/leave in treatment with it. I also like that the product is free of sulfates, silicone, parabens and is vegan too! I’d buy it!

Great scent, gentle on hair, nice natural ingredients. I use a lot of product each time I wash my hair – I need to lather-rinse-repeat 3 times before my hair is clean, which I think can be improved if I added e.g. some tea tree oil to the shampoo. It would still require a large dollop for it to lather up, though. I only wash once a week, so if I washed daily, one application would probably be enough. If you're wanting an all natural shampoo that can deep-clean that head of hair you have then you've found the right product for the job, and I mean RIGHT PRODUCT! I want to start this review off by saying I've used this shampoo for nearly 1 year and my review is completely honest from my own experience ofcourse. I first got this shampoo when I've started to feel like my hair could use a little boost / better shampoo. I searched online for one and bumped into this shampoo and after reading the comments over I got convinced and bought it. At first I was really pleased with the shampoo, it felt refreshing, smelled like citruses which I love and made my hair dryer which was a plus for me since my hair is oily often. BUT, it didn't take long for me to notice negative results. My hair progressly got thinner and thinner, started from seeing some hair on my palms when I moved my hand through, to the point I've seen bunch of hair on my towel after I showered. After realizing my hair is falling apart, I decided to change back to normal shampoo to see if there is any difference and there was, my hair got back to normal after a month or two. It took me too long to realize I should stop using this shampoo since I didn't imagine that this shampoo is the cause for my excessive hair loss. I used to use curling mousse, including Fructis product, but there is no looking back. I threw out the remainder of my curling mousses bc this is so darn fantastic! If I could give it 10 stars I would. My hair naturally has a very slight wave and is fine, but not thin. Once my hair has air dried some after washing, I spray this stuff in my hair, making sure that it's all over and under and throughout. AND IT JUST CURLS. I don't have to scrunch for the next 3 hours and get only satisfactory results. It curls on it's own and it stays. If you don't wash your hair every day, it usually looks even better the next day. I love this this product! Finally something that does NOT make my hair more frizzy, crunchy, dry or greasy. I have fine to medium curly long hair, I am of Eastern European descent. I just use a very small amount like directions advised, worked it into my wet hair, scrunched it with my hands and let air dry. My hair is sooo soft, no frizz and my curls are defined. I have been searching for a natural product without chemicals that actually works. I love it! It also has a tropical fragrance that is not overwhelming and smells so good! I found this product yearssss ago when I first started the Curly Girl Method. It was very runny, white and much lighter. I ended up repurchasing it and when I opened it, it is incredibly yellow and thick and the ingredient list is completely different. This is hands down the best curly hair gel on the market. I use 2-3 pumps for my whole head and scrunch it in after applying a leave in conditioner to very wet hair. It starts by drying hard but then as the day goes on, your hair looks and feels so soft and the curls are still in place. If i’m looking for a stronger hold because of a slick-back ponytail or something, I usually opt for a stronger gel like Not Your Mother’s. If I want stronger definition, I add in Marc Anthony’s curly mousse right after this and scrunch it in with a t-shirt then let air dry. Feels just like snot!! And gets the job DONE! So just so that you know, I’m a lazy 4C natural. Meaning I do bare minimum to maintain a few strands of hair on my non-chemically treated hair. I literally do not use styling products, partially out of laziness but even more so out of fear of breakage and dryness etc. I took a chance, and for the first tome in years, I tried a styling product, and this was it. It’s a gel with the exact consistency of snot. First wash your hair, condition, leave in condition or whatever, and then while your hair is still soaking wet, apply a GENEROUS amount. Finger detangle/shingle/whatever you to that usually gets a little more definition in your hair and boom. Soft not crunchy curls. Such an amazing hold without feeling like your hair is going to fall out. No flaking. This is the only gel that makes me hair curly/ wavy after I put it on, I don’t need to scrunch my hair to see results, it just starts to curl. After that of course I scrunch it to my desire of curliness* but this is in my top 5 of gels. I don’t like gels bc they contain a lot of harsh stuff that can damage and dry out your hair but this here is the best! You won’t go wrong and the smell is like.. in between masculine and feminine. I can’t describe the smell but in my opinion is smells great. Definitely not fruity, it’s smells woodsy I guess but again I’m not good at describing this. This is the best curl cream i have ever used! I tried so many creams and all kinds of mouse and they would be heavy and weighing down my hair or leave my hair crunchy which i hate so much i used about a dime size amount ( my hair is to the middle of my back) and i put it on my semi damp hair and now my hair is so soft and the best curls I've had in a while. I have fine curly hair that misbehaves between cuts, especially if I’m trying to grow it out. A combination of this product and the REDKEN CURVACEOUS RINGLET works really well as leave in conditioning products. I adjust the balance as my hair grows. If I need more weight I use slightly more of this product. If my hair is long enough and has good weight and needs definition or fly away management, I use the other.Donna T

This conditioner is amazing! Of all the conditioners I’ve ever used (I’m in my 20’s so I’ve been through a looot of conditioners!) this one is by far the best. I don’t need a huge amount of it to get my hair untangled, and when I do brush through it I barely have any tangles at all. Okay, at first I was suspicious about this product because I really only knew Sun Bum for their sunscreen so I was a little confused seeing they did products for hair. But guys…this product is AMAZING. As someone who constantly buys products to help her curly hair, this has been a life changer. I bought this on a whim because I was like, what's the harm in another product supposedly for curly hair? Boy was I surprised!! I used to cowash because I was having such a hard time keeping my hair from getting frizzy but as a consequence my roots would get kinda greasy and sometimes my curls didn't look as hydrated as the cowash would advertise. Finallyyyyy I found a product that actually hydrates my hair, makes it look great curly, and isn't making it frizzy or puffy. The only con about this product is that I really really wish they made versions of this product in larger bottles because the conditioner tends to go quickly especially if you have long curly hair like me. I actually really like this conditioner. The first time I bought it, I didn't. I decided to give it another try and k actually really like it. I use it as a rinse out and when I "squish to condish". I feel more comfortable using this for squish to condish rather than a normal rinse out conditioner because those are not meant to be left in the hair and this one is. I do rinse this out though. I really wanted to love this product and I did in the first month of using it. I applied it in the shower and brushed through it really easily, it helped revive my waves, and I really liked the smell. Unfortunately after about a month of use I started noticing really bad dandruff at the front of my hairline, big dandruff flakes, and the nape of my neck was itch. Then I started getting this weird buildup on my hair after the shower. My hair just felt really tacky, when I tried to brush through it, it got tangled immediately because it was sticking to itself, I even noticed some white buildup on my brush. So the next time, I washed the brush, washed my hair with a clarifying shampoo, and made sure to wash out the conditioner well…really well. And it still left this really sticky gross buildup on my hair. It was almost impossible to even run my fingers through. I shampooed my hair twice with a clarifying shampoo and went back to one of my old conditioners and my hair is pretty much back to normal. There is still maybe one part that is still a little sticky/tacky so I'll have to wash it again. Maybe this works for some people, it just didn't work for me. I really like Not Your Mother's products but this particular one didn't quite make the cut. I love how they are free of alcohol, silicones, phthalates, sulfates and dyes. This can be used as a leave in conditioner, rinse out or just as a co-wash. It does enhance my curls and give some definition but my hair is so oily the next day, I have to wash it. Also, my hair seems extra tangley and dry the next day. Just remember that everybody's curls are different and so what might not work for me, might work for you.ashley.b

I ran out of my preferred gel that I get from my hair stylist. I was putting together my Ulta order, hadn't heard back from stylist about availability for product pick up, so I decided to sub for this product instead. I do the plop method, before I put my hair into an old t-shirt, I put in hair moisturizer and gel. This worked absolutely perfect for my previous gel (which is not sold on Ulta). Using the Mixed Chicks Curl Sculptor was disappointing. To be fair, I didn't realize it elongated curls, I love how coily my curls are, and it was disappointing to see them stretched out. That's on me, not MC. However, there was white residue throughout my hair in the morning and throughout the day until after I'd slept on between wash days. I have had dandruff before, and this was definitely the product, not my scalp. Most of the residue was towards the ends of my hair and stuck to my curls. My hair was also pretty sticky, too, and clumped together in a way that let many curls tangle faster than they usually would for my normal daily routine. I'm not buying this again, but maybe it works better for someone who doesn't do the plop method or mix in other products.Von
Im shocked by all the negative reviews. This was gifted to my by a friend and I didnt expect much from it since I had never tried the brand before, but its left my curls so beautiful. I use the SheaMoisture yogurt and manuka honey leave in spray and then scrunch this into sections of my hair and brush it through with a denman brush. My hair dries WAY faster when I use this and is defined yet still voluminous and lasts all week. I havent noticed it drying out my hair or anything (My hair gets really dry easily) but I use a hair mask once a week so maybe thats why. Also some people complained about the smell but tbh unless you hold it right up to your nose you really dont smell anythingKianny

nothing spectacular. gets the job done and leaves hair squeaky clean. I appreciate that this shampoo does not contain silicone and I like that it has sulfate so that all of the silicone from my products can get washed off. I alternate between this and the mixed chicks co-wash, so I only use this every two weeks for a very thorough wash. I like the scent too, it's very mild but pleasant. Was a bit too harsh even for my oily scalp. Dried out not only my scalp which then felt itchy throughout the day, but it also dried the ends of my hair. My hair felt/was really brittle and frizzy. It also has a very strong soapy smell (reminded me of a cleaning solution smell tbh) I did not like that at all. I have 2A/2B wavy, medium porosity, thick shoulder length hair. I have been looking for a shampoo that both makes my hair feel clean after a hospital shift, and keeps my waves fluffy and smooth. This shampoo checks all the boxes and more. It smells clean and the smell lasts out of the shower. It does get foamy, which I like, but I do have to use a good amount for both my upper and lower layers. But for this price, I don't mind using a lot of product at once. Make sure to use your fingers to scrub this into your scalp, for the best effect. I wouldn't use this alone, as I can feel it leaves my hair tangled, after it has washed out. Definitely use this with their Leave-In Conditioner, for the best results (I use it as a regular wash-out conditioner as well). I have read a lot of negative reviews complaining about the smell. However, I don't mind it! I asked family member's opinion, and they said it smells like a light perm smell….so if you don't mind that, it shouldn't bother you. Anyway…. THIS PRODUCT HELPS big time. I have natural curly/wavy hair and get my hair highlighted about every 5 to 6 weeks. In consequence, my hair has become very very dry. However, since using this product, my hair has felt significantly less brittle. I apply it to my wet hair after the shower, and even the days in between washes. Nothing ever works I have high porosity 2/3 b curls and I’ve tried everything from olaplex to oribe to ouai to Shea moisture. Followed the curly girl method and have virgin hair. Now these products and methods don’t get me wrong have helped (minus the ouai) but nothing ever gave me a shinr curl and make me want to constantly touch my hair. Aswell as giving me a defined yet not crunchy curl. This added to my hair after washing with the conditioning mist and gel from there line has left my hair like something out of my dreams. And I’m 32 and been doing this curly hair battle since I was born. I have long straight hair but towards my ends it gets dryer and more kinky. I use about 6 pumps of this oil after I get out of the shower and have combed my hair. Avoiding the scalp area, I gently warm the oil in my hands and work it through the trouble areas in my hair and down to the ends.
