I am 30 years old. 30! Never in my life have I managed to find the balance between silky and greasy hair. UNTIL NOW. No joke. My hair is thin, wavy (in a bad way), broken, frizzy, and prone to oil build up: so I do nothing and I look like Charlize Theron from Monster, or I do a minuscule amount of styling and look like Wormtongue from LOTR. Last night I wet my hands an applied a very small amount of this – pea sized – to half-dried (shoulder length) hair. It was sticky going in, but then I blow-dried the rest of the way with a round brush and OHMYGOD my hair has never been this silky in my life! All my broken ends were laying down flat and nothing was heavy or greasy like my hair usually is with this type of product. Then I went to sleep (because I'm a night showerer) and woke up the next morning with still silky hair and merely a few kinks here and there that ironed out in 90 seconds. Wow I am impressed by this product. I read the discription and thought I would go ahead and give it a try. I am naturally dark brown, but I went blonde. Going blonde left me with dry brittle very damaged hair. Lately it has been rough trying to blow dry straight all the little fly aways that comes with damaged hair. I applied this product on my damp hair generously. It felt like a thick sticky cream while applying, and I was nervous that it was going to make my hair sticky and dry or crisp. I applied a generous amount to 4 sections of hair (about the size of a quarder from root to tip). After blow drying with a round coarse brush I was able to have straight hair that looked amazing and it felt smooth. I thought it looked exceptionally straight for the most part and I skipped hot ironing it flat because I thought doing so would eliminate the body that I had already going on with the round brush. It is now day 2 since using this product and wow… Normally my hair is a tangled mess because of all the bleaching. My hair looks AMAZING! It practically looks healthy looking, even though it is not. I have been using this for about a year now, at the suggestion of my hairdresser. My hair is frizzy-curly. I used to never be able to let my hair air dry or blow it dry without straightening it. Thanks to this stuff, I no longer have to worry! It has a fruity smell that helps me start my day off on a positive note. I just put it in my hair every time I get out of the shower. There are no guidelines anywhere, but my hair is shoulder-length (and fluffy), and I use about a quarter size amount in my palm. I rub it between my palms and then spread through my hair. One thing I've noticed is that if you let your hair air dry, it will harden in your hair. However, this is easily mitigated by either brushing your hair again or just running your fingers through your hair when it's dry (or close to dry). Great product! I have thick, coarse, frizzy, somewhat wavy hair. I shower at night let it air dry. When i wake up in the morning my hair is so frizzy. Even when I’m in a hurry just want to pull it back into a ponytail I still have to get the straightener out to smooth over my rots at my part along my face. If i apply a generous amount of this to my hair after showering while it’s wet then when i wake in the morning my roots/fly-aways are smooth don’t need straightened. I love it! I have very thick curly hair. It usually takes me 1 1/2 hours to straighten it with a standard straight iron and this tool cut the time in half. Im usually fighting with a comb and having to lay the straightener down while I pick up the comb to comb it. Its a battle. This product solved my problem. The only drawback is my bangs are very short and it doesnt work with short hair. Will have to use old straightener till they grow out then into the recycling bin with the old. I have very coarse, thick, wavy hair. I have only ever used a flat iron before. When I bought this I was actually shopping for a replacement for my awesome, but 16+ year old flat iron. I bought this on whim, because honestly, the price. I even asked the Ulta associate about their return policy because I was sure this tiny thing wouldn't work in my giant, poofy, frizzy hair. I was 98% sure I was returning it. Now, as another reviewer said this will not really straighten you hair if you have A LOT of hair, although it did better than expected, but it would make wavy hair pretty smooth. It's not going to give you flat iron results. It also didn't really turn my ends under the way I like. What it did do, and what I actually bought it for was to straighten a terrible cowlick that I have on one side of my head that kinks up over night no matter how satiny or silky my pillowcase is or how careful I am to not sleep on that side of my head. The first morning that used this I had a particularly tossy-turny night of sleep and my hair was a complete mess. I thought it was going to be a ponytail day. But this little thing straightened out all the kinks and left my hair looking like the day before when it was freshly ironed. I had been wanting to get a straighter at a good price and I found this one which was about $20. Overall I really liked this straightener. My hair is fine, type 2b so straightening my hair was very fast. The first time I tried it I didn’t have that much time so I didn’t section off my hair and straighten a section at a time. I was still able to get very good results. I would have liked the straightener to help me more with my frizzy hair, but hey, this can’t solve all my problems. The straightener heats up fast so that’s a plus. It would have been helpful for the display to light up so I could see the temperature but it’s not a huge problem for me. Don’t waste your time and money on this product. I bought it because it was on sale for Black Friday and I was due for a new straightener. However, this straightener struggled to heat up. I tried to restart my outlet and everything then it worked ONLY ONCE. It never heated up after and started showing “Error” on the small screen. I have been using this flat iron consistently over the last couple of weeks, and here are my thoughts and views on the product, itself, and how it performs. My hair is rather thick and naturally wavy and it rarely ever just does what I want it to do. It requires high heat and styling tools and products if I am trying to achieve a sleek and straight look. With this flat iron alone, I have not been able to achieve that look. I feel that 410 degrees is just not a heat may possibly not be high enough heat for the texture of my hair. I also had a hard time reading the digital temperature setting. I think it would help to have a backlight with this setting. Upon receiving this product, I noticed it had a very new smell… that of a product which was brand new and had never been used. The flat iron smells somewhat like burnt plastic when it is first turned on and I did smell it several times after the first use. I don't smell it anymore though and it wasn't that bothersome to me. I just associated that smell with it being brand new and recently manufactured. In all fairness, I think that this is a pretty good product when compared to others in the same pricing bracket. It's a good value for the price. I have been a long time user of Remington styling tools and have had favorable experiences with all of those which I have ever owned and used. As a 3c natural hair girl, I am always looking for fun products to straighten my hair and give it some curls that aren't as tight as my natural ones. I was very excited to try this out when I saw it included a round brush. First of all, the space between the two plates isn't very wide, and I am used to it being wide as it is on my other flat irons. That threw me off a little bit. Second, there is nothing that allows you to change the heat setting and because my hair is course, it requires a little more heat to get it straight. With this iron, I was only able to get a sort of puffy straight hair with some frizzy curls. I really liked the easy to use round brush though. I usually don't use one myself when I'm doing my hair, but this one went through easily. I did have a little bit of trouble with making a curl with the brush part at first, but I eventually got it. Also, it takes a little while to heat up. I think this is a good product, maybe just not for my hair type. I would recommend it to friends that have looser hair types. When I received this tool I was a little skeptical with the 4 in 1 feature but after daily use, I will say that I prefer this one to the Amika Strand Perfect Ceramic Styler that I received in my FabFitFun box and now I use the Instyler Max daily. I like to wash my hair every other day and what I really like about the Instyler is that it really does add volume when you place it under your hair close to the roots like the instructions say. It's great for me because My hair loses its volume easily. I also really like the lights that turn on, and how quickly it heats up. I have used this as a strighener and as a volumizer. I have not tired to curl my hair as I usually wear it straight. It straightens quickly and it keeps my hair feeling smooth and soft. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that because it's not very thin, it's hard to straighten the baby hairs around my face and that's very important to me. The Instyler max has cut the time it takes to do my hair in half. I can straighten, curl and give my thin hair the extra volume I have been seaching for endlessly. I have the Ion Fusion 2.0. It is the worst straightener I've ever owned. I have thick, loosely wavy hair and even on full heat, 450 degrees, it still takes 4+ passes to get a small section remotely straight. I don't believe it actually gets up to 450. It also pulls my hair so badly, every third pass or so I have to stop and pull out hairs that are stuck in the plates – you can see in the picture how much hair I lost during one straightening session. It gets stuck midway through my hair even though I use a good heat spray AND I brush my hair thoroughly before straightening, plus again each section right before straightening. You can get better quality at the drugstore. I will never buy PYT hair products again and I'll be replacing this one ASAP.andrea.z

My hair is 3C/4A so this works for African, coily or kinky hair. I set mine to 400 and it worked without giving me that burnt smell or crunchy ends like I normally get with other flat irons. I initially purchased the Hot Tools one that is just like this one only because I didn't see this one when I was shopping online. I ended up ordering this one a week later when I discovered it so I could compare them since I wasn't sure what made them different besides the Hot Tools one being twice the price. They both worked very well – I was happy with the results. The difference that made me choose this one is that the Hot Tools one allows you to set separate temperatures for the left and right plates, which I didn't see myself using, so I couldn't justify paying twice as much for it. Ive had a salon Brazilian blowout and an Aveda keratin treatment in the past. The Brazilian blowout was the best but the smell about killed me and made my eyes water. This product was similar to that. It has a bubblegum smell but strong. It did make my eyes water a bit but my hair is so smooth and beautiful that it was well worth it. I tend to shampoo my hair to frequently since I exercise everyday and sweat, but if it lasts even 6-8 weeks its worth it. Great price and great product.ellewoods99
It took me 3 hours to do my hair. I am now on my 6th hair wash since doing the treatment. I am happy to say that my hair is still straight! I also bought the shampoo and conditioner that went along with it. I have a couple spots where my hair is still wavy but other than that this is the only product so far that actually kept my hair straight for this long. When I cool dried the product it took sooooo long so I just used my fan and combed it out. And the smell burnt my throat and and chest. At first it smelled like bubblegum. So definatley recommend doing it in more than just your bathroom. (I had door and windows open at all times) So worth the 3 hours! Highly recommend!!berndtar

I have coarse hair. It’s very dry from bleaching. Every time I flat iron my hair it normally last one day and its very frizzy and dull. I bought this last week and did my hair. Just wow! I was a bit skeptical purchasing this because of the price.. Most cheap flat irons don't work at all! But with the rating and positive reviews I figured why not, its not like I'm investing that much money into it.. And after using it one time I am VERY HAPPY that I purchased this flat iron!! It works great and even tho it got a bit to hot it works great for my hair! It doesn't have a light up screen so its a bit difficult to see the temperature if you have bad vision but for this price still not mad lol. Thank you for an affordable hair straightener!! Not Purple as shown, Product description (photo) is incorrect. I bought this in the past, but they must have changed the straightener but not updated the description. The straightener I received is not purple, but black with purple plates. Same goes for the purple blow dryer by Remington sold here on Walmart (shows purple but is all black with purple accents). The only positive about this hot comb is that my hair doesnt tangle in it. That’s it. This hot comb takes FOREVER to get hot, and at its max temperature it gets no hotter than very warm. Turbo mode does hardly anything for the temperature of the comb. I have very thick, wavy hair and it took me over an hour to get my hair from very wavy to a loose wave. Unacceptable. The instructions say dry hair, but I recently read that you should never apply to dry if you’re my hair type. This is true. I applied to wet hair, not damp. I just squeezed off excess water from my hair and applied the keratin and it came out smooth, shiny and took out pretty much all of my volume. I’m always struggling to cut down the volume of my hair. That said, if you need to increase volume, you might go ahead and apply on dry hair. I’m 3b-c curls. I don’t get why this is such a big deal and why companies don’t want you to know that it works better on wet hair.Jolie
I had used this a couple of times and was unhappy with the results, so I returned to the salon for treatments. Now that we're under pandemic restrictions and with summer approaching I was concerned about frizz. I'd bought a large bottle before I realized I would return to the salon, so I had some on hand, and decided to try it again. What did I have to lose, right? This time, I realized that I would probably need to use more than I had used previously, as my hair absorbs the product like a sponge. I didn't oversaturate, but I definitely needed more than the recommended amount for my 3c hair. That was my first adjustment. I blow dried as instructed, gave my hair two passes with the flat iron, and said "eh, it doesn't look that great". Then I re-read the instructions, and realized it said to give it up to five passes with the curling iron until it has a glazed sheen. I reheated the curling iron (I do at least have an Ion curling iron!) and went through my hair three more times. Now it looks great! I'm still in the 72 hour window, so I can't wash it until tomorrow, but I'm looking forward to the final results.
My twins hair was always tangled and tears whenever combing or braiding. My hair braider recommended a texturizing treatment (just for me) after research it just a kids relaxer. I get two or three Keratin treatments per year at the salon and after talking to several beauticians I decided to purchase this product and do it myself. I set the timer for 20 minutes and applied it after washing their hair 4x. Then I blow dried it with my yellow bird hair dryer. This is stuff is amazing! No more tangles or tears. My daughter went swimming the second day and of course the swim cap didn’t protect and salt water got her hair wet. No tangles and tears. I wash her hair again with Ion clarifying shampoo and dried and flat ironed at 450 degrees. It straightened and looked great! I would recommend using a thermal shield and gorgeous hair. I’m not sure why the reviews are so low for this product. Of course if you get your hair wet you will have shrinkage when it dries but my twins had no tangles and their has is manageable. Plus if they want to wear their hair natural/curly they still can. We’ve had no breakage like some of my friends have had with texturizing treatment. We love the Ion keratin treatment!

I have mixed hair. Mom is white/black and dad is black. So I always had the problem of straightening my hair but it being that frizzy and humid looking straight and it would be a mess within an hour. This product is amazing. I’ve been using it for like 3 years now. A little goes a long way and make sure you don’t put it on your roots if you are prone to have more greasy hair. I’ve literally been out in humidity, walked from my house to work in 95 degree weather and my hair stayed straight. It’s my favorite please guys buy this. The trick is to put this on towel dried hair after washing your hair. Then blow dry it with a round brush, I use the one with bristles in it to make it shy as well. I am overall very satisfied with its performance and how fast it straightens my hair. The best feature of this straightener is steam option, it stops frizz, static and fly away hair which is very important for good straightener. It works well and very fast on wavy, medium thickness and very long hair leaving shiny, smooth, healthy, soft and frizz free finish. It takes 10-15 min to completely straighten my hair every time when I use it. However it works fast only on temperature 190-210 degrees. On the lowest temperature it takes longer time to straighten hair effectively. The minus for this product is when I removed water tank protective lock I struggled to put it back on one side (where is the smallest hole), it took me very long time to lock it evenly. So I advice to unlock water tank only from one side (do not remove it from both holes). I would highly recommend this product, I will continue using it occasionally.KristaZ
