The design besides being very aesthetic and elegant, is made in a way that is very simple and easy to use, a function that I really like is that you press a button to rotate the top of the dryer to have a better angle and grip when drying, I was fascinated. The motor blows out enough air in three levels to dry your hair in a short time. In terms of heat it also has three levels but with the first two you can style your hair very well because it generates enough heat and this added to the fact that it blows out the air strongly, makes it unnecessary to use the maximum heat level. Before styling the hair it is recommended to use some product to protect the hair from the heat, this varies from person to person, however we must not forget that we are exposing our hair to heat. The performance is great, each of the ways the aceseories can be use, I get a excellent result, it takes time but it is worh it. I am NOT a hair person so any tool that comes along meant to make dealing with my hair an easier task I am more than willing to give it a try. This is similar to another popular brand on the market but it has less attachments. This is definitely not a bad thing unless you need the other attachments to achieve the look you are hoping for. The instructions for this one is pretty straightforward and simple, even for someone like me. The smoothing brush attachment does an okay job smoothing my hair texture but I immediately knew I would have to add one more tool to this setup to accommodate my natural hair texture and get the smoothness I need to avoid any additional heat in my hair after completing the process until my next hair wash. So I did have to use a flat iron to truly smooth my hair out. Also, because of the texture of my hair (which many women of color may be in the same boat) the idea of leaving hair not completely dry to use the curling attachment isn’t realistic as my hair would not hold up 5 minutes after walking out of the door if I tried that and my hair would become a huge poofy mess. Using a small amount of setting spray on each section before using the curling attachment is what works for me. It’s a bit of a learning curve if you haven’t used the similar version but ultimately this works well enough. It won’t give you the same curls you could achieve with an actual curling iron but it will give you nice, soft waves to curls (smaller sections of hair to achieve more curl, bigger section to achieve soft waves). For some hair types this will be an excellent addition to their routine. I bought this about 6 weeks ago; while staying in a hotel, I got one side of my hair wet, and I had an opportunity to use a basic dyson hairdryer ; wasn't expecting anything amazing but, wow! was I impressed. Used my heated st;yler to tidy few ends and, voila, I had a full, perfect blow dry that lasted for another 3 days. I was hooked, but still took time to make the decision to buy one. Then I saw the airwrap, and thought "this is for me" – but it didn't do the same job as the basic dyson hairdryer. It may be that it just isn't for my type of hair – a lot of it, but very fine, which is why it might not hold the loose bounce I so looked forward to. Even the barrel shaped brush doesn't do the same job as my old barrel brush hairdryer. So what went wrong? I don't know; I followed the tips, but didn't get the result I was expecting, and I'm pretty good at styling my hair. Don't get me wrong, I will use the basic hairdryer as the tools, while ingenious in their design, just don't work for me; I do think it is overpriced, beautiful and sleek as it is, and it will be interesting to see which hair types have the best results with it. Extortionate amount for something that just drys your hair quicker. I brought the special edition airwrap for longer hair. The airwrap overheats and gets extremely hot! Not sure if it’s fault. I have experimented using the airwrap many times following a variety of tips and hints online for styling. The curls drop out instantly even when using various high end professional or cheaper hair styling products eg heat protection, setting sprays, hair spray snd setting the curls with grips. At a cost to me I’ve tried many different brands and asked advice from professional hairdresser. I have followed suggestions online to use the airwrap to get the best curls. My hair is in good condition! I use the best products on my hair to keep it healthy and clean. So don’t believe it’s an issue with my hair type! I wouldn’t call the airwrap a style tool as it just drys your hair quicker than your average hair dryer. Furthermore whilst following tips & hints to curl my med length hair. The on/off button can switch off. Very annoying! One positive when drying my hair straight my hair is left shiny afterwards nonetheless the airwrap is sold as a styling tool not just a hairdryer. I would be interested to know how many people have returned?? The advertisement for the airwrap shows that those with long hair can curl their hair with this tool. However I believe this to be misleading and somewhat false advertising because the curls using the dyson airwrap tool doesn’t stay in, dropping out if not immediately within 30 minutes. It’s time consuming and a massive effort. It’s nothing more than a disappointment. Your best off going back to the hairdresser for a blow dry!! The only 1 positive using the airwrap is how light it is compared to the weight of an hairdryer and shiny hair! My hair is long, straight, extremely thick and I have a lot of it. Usually when I use curling tongs or straighteners to curl my hair, I have to use very high heat and even then curls don't last very long without a lot of product. To my surprise, the Airwrap was sooo easy to use and the curls look so natural and effortless. I also liked that there was no danger of my burning my skin or overheating my hair. The new barrel with the simple switch to change directions is also very cool – I haven’t used the old Airwrap so can’t comment on it but I can imagine the new barrel makes life a lot easier. I had heard from friends and on social media that Airwrap curls don't last long, but for me, even on day 4 they still look amazing. I think the trick was to do the cool shot and use good hairspray. I have owned my shark for a couple months now and I love it, but…. Size and shape of the drying device is great. The attachments are marginal, and designers should have consulted more with stylists. I have asked 3 stylists to use it and tell me what they thought, all said the same things that I thought. Power buttons are way to low on the dryer so you find yourself constantly trying to adjust when styling. Diffuser is AMAZING! Love that there is an adjustment for the length of hair and it works amazingly! Using the round brush and paddle brush attachments are extremely cumbersome with the length and weight of the device it becomes heavy especially with working with longer hair. Would be much better for shorter hair shoulder length or so. Personally I find myself using the dryer and my actual round brush more than the attachments. The curling attachments are simply a poor design, doesn’t capture enough hair and the fact that you have to constantly replace the attachment depending on which way you want to curl you hair is a pain. Once you are able to chapter enough hair to curl it does work and hair comes out soft beach and so silky! It’s disappointing that when spending $400 on a dryer with so many attachments there isn’t a bag or box to keep everything together. This is a customer delight oversight. Now, it is way less expensive than the Dyson for a very similar product so I would recommend this product but to people with shorter hair.JenLyn
This hair dryer was a Christmas gift from my boyfriend and I love it SO much. Before I begin my in-depth review, I believe I should mention my hair type. I have medium length hair (middle of my back) and my hair is medium/thick. When I let my hair air dry, it gets frizzy even after adding in hair care products (my hair is slightly compromised due to bleach). Now, onto the dryer. First, the hairdryer itself is VERY easy to use. You really do not need to look at the instruction manual that comes with it to learn how to use it because it is very easy to navigate the dryer and it's attachments (however, I do recommend reading it for safety purposes and caring for the dryer). Second, the attachments are very lightweight and easy to attach to the dryer. They click on almost immediately and removing them is just as easy. When attached while using the dryer, they don't move at all and stay right in place, making it easy to style your hair. Third, the dryer itself is powerful! I took a small section of my hair and set the dryer to the lowest heat setting and my hair dried in less than a minute. My hair was straightened and there was zero frizz. It took about 8-10 minutes to fully dry all of my hair and when I finished, my hair looked shiny and healthy (compared to when it air dries). Now, with every amazing product, there are always a few cons. My first con is the weight of the dryer. It isn't terribly heavy, but it is definitely heavier than a traditional blow dryer. Second, it's a bit noisy. It kind of sounds like the hand dryers used in shopping mall bathrooms (I didn't expect it to be awfully quiet, but I also didn't expect it to be so loud). And finally, I really wish the hairdryer came with some sort of case or box to store the dryer. I've been keeping it in the box it came in and it isn't offering the dryer much protection. I wish there were some special case it came with to keep it safe and make pulling out the dryer and the attachments easier. Anyway, the pros outweigh the cons and this dryer is amazing. I've had the Shark FlexStyle for about a month now, and had the opportunity to use it several times. For reference, I have long thick hair – and a lot of it! I also have natural wave (about a 2c). I've eyed the competitor for years, but was leaning toward their dryer over their styling system because of all the reviews for it saying the styles didn't hold well. When the Shark FlexStyle launched, I was so excited about the prospect of combining a truly powerful dryer (which also comes with a great diffuser) with the option to use other attachments to style my hair ALL the ways. The dryer is so powerful, it dries all my hair quickly and thoroughly. I like the 3 heat/3speed/cool shot format for the settings. The controls are easy to use and, I think, placed well on the device. I now get even better results when I wear my hair curly because of how well it dries and how functional the diffuser is (size/adjustable). On days I wear my hair straight, I'll go in first with no attachment in the dryer position, then finish with the oval brush head in the straight want position for a smooth straight blowout. I have only tried the curling barrels once since I purchased the device. There is definitely a learning curve, but you get the hang of it pretty quickly. I'm long overdue for a haircut… so for me, once I brushed the curls out, the end result was a more polished blowout. The defined curls didn't last, but my hair is also SUPER heavy at the moment. The style lasted me days though! I'm eager to try the curling barrels again once I've had my hair cut/thinned out. That will also help me to not try curling too much hair at once, which should help the defined curls stay better- my hair usually holds a curl well. Overall, I think this is a fantastic tool. Even being 1/2 the price of the competitor, it is still a hefty price tag for a hair styling tool. I definitely feel it is worth the investment though.
