I spend some time dialing in the position for these, road a bit locally, then went for a longer ride (1 hour 13 minutes). I rode over two hours a week ago with other grips and no issues. After 30 minutes with these, I had numbness in my right hand. By 45 minutes, I had left wrist pain, left thumb pain, and right thumb pain. I've never experienced so much pain in my wrist and thumbs while mountain biking in the past 25+ years. I've never experienced pain in my wrist ever while riding. The rubber is also not sticky. I found these rather scary to use on enduro terrain. My hands moved on the grips. The texture causes the surface to move easily under a glove which then causes the glove to also slip on steep terrain. It is rather unnerving as my hands felt as if they might slide off the grips. I like this style of handlebar grip with an integrated end cap and a set screw to hold it in place. The textured surface with ridges is "grippy" and easy to hold on to. Based on those features alone, I would have rated these PNW grips 4/5. However, these grips are a bit less cushy than the older ones I removed, which were a thicker foam-type grip. I prefer a bit more cushion and rated the PNW grips a 3/5 for that reason. Others might not want or need more cushion and would find these to be very good.Steve B
These grips are packaged very neatly and ship fast. The grip compound is sticky enough to be grippy, but not disgustingly sticky. Installation is quick and easy, and the grips add a great pop of color to your bike. Due to my impatience or the bolts durability, the clamp bolts stripped after being taking off once and reinstalled. Thankfully, PNW's customer service is awesome. I made a warranty claim and PNW responded almost immediately and sent replacement bolts as well as some info on how to avoid stripping them.Levi
I have had a great experience with the Loam grips, but after a small crash tore up the end of one grip,I was considering buying a new pair. Then I saw the new XL version and decided it was the perfect opportunity to try them out. Install was straight forward, so no issues there. I installed one XL and left one original grip to evaluate the size difference. It is noticable and offered a perfect feel for my hands. Installed the other XL and then went on a familiar trail ride. These are great. I wasn't expecting much as I was previously using ODI clamp-ons which are bomb proof (but heavy). Figured I'd give the WCS grips a try (to save some weight) based on recommendations. Install was no different than any other slip on grip (compressed air for the win!). I'm expecting to get a years worth of riding out of them. These are great for small-medium size sets. Once you get to larger unbroken sets though the limiting factor is when they run out of chalk and actually make it harder to grip on the bar. I bought because a friend uses them. I was tired of tearing my knuckles and mainly fighting with sweat wet and slippery bars. These are great! Tons of grip and I haven't torn again since using them. I'm not saying they will prevent tearing always, but they appear to help. My only two slight complaints and why I give 4/5 stars and not 5/5: 1. I know they don't last forever and will wear out (my friend's did). If you're a five or six days a week type, I think within a year you'll be replacing. That said, I'm not that frequent, and mine will probably last years. 2. The size chart on the Rogue website is one size off from the size chart on the back of the package! The chart on the website goes "S" to "XL" and the one on the package goes "XS" to "L." In other words, what measures a "Large" on the website will measure a "Medium" if you go by the packaging. All that said, go by the size on the website and don't freak out when you get the package and it indicates you should have gotten the next size smaller. Mine fit fine. I used to have a real problem with tearing. Tried all kinds of hand care, chalk and no chalk, didn't matter. I got these and got used to them, now they're the first thing I grab when I know we are using the pull up bar. I got these mostly to prevent tearing, but they do help out with gripping which is nice on those longer workouts. Super easy to install. No messing with glue. No "waiting for the grips to dry." Just slip them on, use a 3mm allen wrench to tighten, and you're off to the races! The grips are very comfortable, and I've noticed that my forearms don't get as tired when riding with these grips. The grips also have cutouts in certain areas for where your fingers rest. You can't feel these cutouts when the grips are on the bars, but you CAN tell when you pull the grips out of the package.
