After a couple of visits to the Cheltenham store I decided to buy them and I am so glad I did. In store I used my phone to audition them but it wasn't until I bought them and plugged them into my Naim separates at home that I realised why they had such good reviews everywhere. Sound quality is fantastic, I would describe them as well balanced and natural. They don't emphasize bass or treble, they are very detailed and easy to listen to for hours on end without fatigue. Build quality is first class, they are so light and comfortable and do not cause any discomfort, even over long periods of listening. The isolation is first class enabling listening without bothering others in the room. Nice that Shure have included a spare set of pads and a spare cable. I've noticed an improvement in sound as they are now starting to get run in. I highly recommend them!Eagle 1

Hi All, I use these without an amp through my iphone se 2020 with apple dongle dac and with a schitt heresy to similar results. Obviously the heresy is better but not a paradigm shift. Been listening for about a month. Have tried over 40 hp's to get here. Finally found my all rounders! I stream through hifi streaming mostly and am particularly impressed by the versatility of these headphones. Electronic genres sound deep, full bodied, clean; vocals are detailed, present, centered (so important to me, i prefer a slightly vocal forward sound stage (i dont like the hifiman sundaras presentation of vocals for reference, 6xx sounds maybe a bit too forward but lovely for david crosby etc. singer acoustic music), and the 1540s sound very nice even compared to 6xx for this genre, but quite different actually. Vocals have more texture on 1540, more detail, but less area, i.e. a bit less spread out, less enveloping. I attribute this to the closed back design. Best closed back soundstage for the price imo. DCA aeon RT are another option, and akg k553 mkii for a cheaper option, but k553 mkii lack comfort and highs can be harsh, no good. However, on the 1540, even horns/strings sound so good! Not DT 880 level but surprisingly good, for closed back a real achievment tbh, this is the key part of why I'm keeping them forever. Rock guitars sound very nice, instrument separation is natural. There is a slight echo in the closed back design, but it's kind of nice too, gives snares a little more snap and whack. Compared to srh 840, the 1540s are flatter and much more comfortable. Bass sounds better, highs are maybe dull in comparison but pump it loud and you'll be excited, trust me. Normally, i like vocals center, at medium volume, bass is beautifully present too, at high volumes these become so much fun, yet smooth! and the high pressure of the accentuated bass and closed back design feels good with metal and dub. Sound quality and comfort are both superb – and build quality is excellent. I'm in agreement with everyone else whose said that for the price, these can't be beaten. The Shures are a closed back addition to my stable – to compliment my open back Grados – so I can listen in comfort, undisturbed by the sound of the TV when the kids are around. I’ve always preferred the overall sound of open backed headphones, but of course you have the issue of sound from the outside world leaking in, and vice versa. The Shures are for when I can’t get a quiet room to myself… In comparison with the Grados, I’m really pleasantly surprised by just how expansive, open and well separated the soundstage is with these Shure’s. They are excellent. I love them already. I have one minor disappointment though. They come in a really sturdy hard case – which is great. But if you intend to store the headphones in the case (and why wouldn’t you?), you have to store them with the cable detached (see photo). That means every time you take them in and out of the case, you have to detach and then re-attach the cable. For one thing, that’s a faff, but more importantly it introduces a weak point – because these are fairly delicate little connectors with a tiny central pin, and constantly detaching and re-attaching them is surely going to shorten their life by quite a lot. And it’s not really necessary. Shure generously provide a spare cable (and ear pads), but unless you’re swapping the cable out because it’s worn, there’s no real need to be constantly unplugging it. Basically you have the choice of not using the case, or potentially damaging the cable connections. I’ll probably leave the cable attached and only use the case if I’m travelling with the headphones. I’ll have to find some other safe way to store them at home (away from the kids!) I minor issue perhaps, but it’s irritated me because it just seems like daft oversight! I’ve had these headphones for several months now, and they’re still as good as the day I got them. I wasn’t looking for anything fancy, just functional and affordable, which they definitely are. I had a problem with skull candy headphones breaking on me (I went through 4 or 5 pairs in a year) but these feel super sturdy. The sound quality and noise blocking is excellent, and I love having co trip buttons on the phones themselves. My complaints are on the microphone, when I try to have a phone conversation, I get told I pick up a lot of background noise or that I sound like I’m going through a tunnel. also, the low battery notification is way too frequent and irregular. Sometimes it will notify you every 30 seconds, or 2 minutes… either way, having a song interrupted multiple times to tell me something I’m already aware of is irritating.RayBird440

Good detailed sound, cuts out external noise when listening, battery lasts forever, charges quickly, quick and good bluetooth connection, stay connected over distances and through walls. I don't want to keep a phone next to my head for long periods of time or really at all, so I use these most often to talk on the phone or when listening to my recordings, environment must be quiet for microphone input to be good, not silent, not noisy. I don't have to keep them connected for calls, connection takes only a few seconds. I got them for $20 but I'd say they could sell for $40-$50. Only complaint is personal, it's not quite comfortable for my ears, maybe my ears are big or awkward shaped, or I'm wearing them wrong with bad placement, but I can keep them on for a few hours, rest for 10 minutes then put them back on. I've never been one to spend over $50 on headphones and these were just short of that. My ears don't work well w/ in-ear options either so I took a chance on the JLab Audio Bluetooth headphones. I even bought the accidental coverage because I know how clumsy I can be. Pros: – easy to connect and rename on my mobile device – the audio quality between lows, mids and highs are pretty impressive. – the headphones have never been so loud to blow out my ears. – grips to my head pretty well without concern of slipping while I walk, jog, hike, row machine, stationary bike and even when I'm doing boxing basics. – Accidental coverage: I did need to use it and it was completely worth it that I bought it again on my next set. Mainly you pay the accidental cost which was in the low $10-$15's if I recall correctly. Totally worth it! No hassle, most stores have an abundance of these, and I walked out w/ a new one. – My son and daughter kept stealing it from me as it works great on their school Zoom meetings and school laptops. Wired headphones… way more affordable, yes, but these are actual just as ideal for my kids (even for P.E.) – With COVID I work remotely… with these headphones we aren't competing in audio volume and during my work and school hours… we just have to worry about our speaking volume. Cons: – not sure why but audio from my MacPro or HP Laptop are never clean. I actually owned the earlier cheaper/discontinued model before it broke and never had poor Windows/Mac audio. – it's fragile… I'm clumsy and with very low impact and the right angle… it landed perfectly on the ground affecting the volume buttons. I attempted to fix it myself, opened the headphone housing itself and discovered it was far too damaged. I have been really impressed by these headphones, and so has my wife—who uses them the most now and claims that they are hers my right of conquest. Oh well, she can have them if she enjoys them so much! Anyway, onto the review. For the price, these are the best Active Noise Cancelation (ANC) over-the-ear headphones I have tried so far. They have two levels of ANC, a high and a low, a “be aware setting” that uses the built-in mics to enhance your awareness of what is around you, and a mode where any electronic noise filtering is turned off and you are just utilizing the normal isolation of the earcups for your listening experience. The high level of ANC, is comparative to my Airpod Pros. While this is not saying a lot considering Airpod Pros do not necessarily have the most incredible ANC, the difference is that these JLab Studio Pros have a reported 43 HOURS of ANC listening time at medium volume, which is far more than the 3-1/2 to 4 hours ANC time I get on my Airpod Pros. For the price of these headphones and the quality of the ANC, I think that I would want to equip my whole family with these on a long flight. Not to mention, it includes a USB-C to 3.5mm headphone jack that can allow you to plug into the airline’s audio jacks for movies and such. The quality of the audio is middling. There are three EQ settings built in. A balanced, bass boost, and Jlab signature setting. Much to my irritation, the instructions included with these headphones did not tell you how to change between these settings: you need to press the up and down volume buttons at the same time to change between the EQ modes. Of these three, I like the Jlab signature mode the best. These headphones are lacking in bass and treble clarity in general, but that really isn’t a deal-breaker if you are looking into quality ANC headphones at a decent price. Overall, these get a solid recommend from me. I think they would be popular for individuals who travel a lot, like traveling executives and don’t want to risk expensive headphone varieties getting broken or stollen. I decided to give the brand a shot as a wireless product, which I didn't own before. There are definite quality differences here, as the price point certainly would qualify. To be true and fair, the actual fit and functionality of the item is very good. They fit quite comfortably over each ear. The buttons and set up are easy enough to navigate. Yet… here's the problem: inconsistency with the actual stereo sound through the right ear speaker. No matter which source I use (home PC, Nook tablet, Samsung phone) via Bluetooth, it can never consistently capture sound in both ears from beginning to end. It has become frustrating, especially when I rolled the dice and gave them a shot. The noise cancelling portion actually worked well within its limitations. Others have written of a lack of bass, and they are right. That's ok with me.. if both ears are receiving sound. It is disappointing. Not sure if I should purchase another one to see if it is a fluke in manufacturing.JoseQ

I recently a BOSS Katana Artist MkII amplifier (which I have reviewed elsewhere) and love it. However, it is somewhat of a pain to connect my phone and studio headphones to it to do a little nighttime jamming – both of those require cables, which makes setup and teardown enough pain that I don't want to do it. When I heard of the WAZA-AIR, I found it is almost exactly a Katana in convenient headphone shape. To be clear, I love this thing. It sounds good enough that I will play it and it is a snap to get started. I traded a Fender Mustang Micro for the WAZA-AIR, and the two are not even in the same ballpark. To be fair, the Mustang is about a third the price, so I'm not surprised, but if you are struggling to get a good sound from a Mustang – and if you have the cash – the WAZA-AIR is likely to do what you need. The software and firmware are…finicky at times. There are a few oddities that I can't explain that differ from the Katana software. For instance, it appears that I cannot use both a Booster and the Modulation at the same time. I don't get that. I can still connect a wireless MIDI controller to the WAZA-AIR, and that might open up more possibilities. It's also another investment, and I'm still trying to determine if being able to hit a pedal is worth it. Overall, I do recommend the WAZA-AIR. It sounds great, the convenience can't be beaten, and it is just very solid and feels right. There are a couple of strange parts that – so far – do not detract enough from the experience for me to try to change them. If you are reading this now, I recommend you give it a try. I am not sure, but I don't think anyone has ever invented this. It's just headphones that connect to your electric guitar wirelessly, right? In fact, I was just thinking of this, before I discovered these on Sam Ash – because i was sitting there, tangled in headphone wires, guitar cables, and I wondered – can't somebody do this wirelessly? So I did a search, and voi la! Here's the other thing – inside the phones, it sounds like outside the phones. In other words, these are not JUST wireless guitar headphones – they are wireless amplifier headphones. The one thing I don't like – and maybe someone knows the answer – but, the controls, through the app, are pretty limited. Or at least, it's not like a amp modeler, like Spark. But then, Spark is not like Amplitube – actually models hundreds of real amplifier setups – from the real world. I have a six-month old baby in the house as well as a wife who really hates loud noises. These headphones provide an immersive experience that allows me to play my guitars and really hear them with my wife not having any idea. The ear-pieces fit so well against the ear, that no matter how loud I play through the headphones, my wife has never been able to hear anything other than the sound of an electric being played without an amp. I will say that you shouldn't buy these because you have seen the video and think the idea of the "position-shifting" feeling will be so cool. I mean, it works, but it's really more gimmick to me than anything else. That being said, it shouldn't detract at all from your decision to buy these. My playing time has skyrocketed since I bought these. It takes 3 seconds to plug in the adapter, put on the headphones and start jamming. You can even go find jam tracks on youtube and play them on your phone. The sound will go to your Waza Headphones and you can play right over top of the tracks using all of the effects you've got going on through the app. Speaking of the app… there's a learning curve. I have found it a bit clunky and so I didn't invest a lot of time in learning to use it. I'm sure it's good once you figure it out, though. There are a lot of effects options. Lastly, while the headphones don't sound as good as a nice tube amp right next to you on the floor, they sound way better than you just plugging headphones into your amp. The Waza Airs were designed to improve upon that experience. And on top of that, you don't have to be anywhere near your amp to use them.Jeff

I bought these headphones to use in the studio while recording and mixing. They were billed as having an even frequency response but I find that they are heavy on the bass. That's great if you want to use them to listen to music, but in the studio, they caused me to mix tracks that sounded tinny and boxy. I would not recommend these for studio work. Ever. They are also too large and bulky to walk around with. These are headphones for personal use while listening to your favorite songs in your bedroom.Mick

This is perfect for my needs. I have my computer plugged in to a 4 channel mixer along with my practice keyboard. When I have to learn a song (or just feel like playing along with songs on YouTube) I'm able to put my keys where I want them in the mix and not disturb anyone else, but can switch to speakers if I want, These headphones have clarity and I can hear everything. They work great in the studio as well. They have a little too much bottom end for me even when I run the mix flat, but I just adjust the bass on the mixer to where I want it.Rick

decent durability for the price. seems to have decent power handling. high frequency response, or, rather, transient detail of the higher frequencies is LAUGHABLE compared to less expensive headphones i've owned previously. That being said, I'd rather have these because the Sennheiser HD201s didnt hold up to regular use — I threw them away because the paper thin leatherette on the ear cushions had completely disintegrated. I have higher hopes for the CADs because the leatherette on the ear cushions seems thicker and more rugged. BTW, these things don't seal against your head correctly — The pressure is fine above the ear, but there's no seal below your ear — You have to position them just right to get a seal.G-man

Bought these some time ago and the sound was brilliant they are also very comfortable especially as I have big ears, unfortunately they stopped working in one ear. When wiggling the cable the non working phone crackles, I can only think it is the cable but on these the cable is not replaceable. At the price I paid for them I would expect the cable to be more robust or replaceable. I Replaced them with K240s as you can replace the cables on these but they are nowhere near as comfortable.Gordy Mac

Never used noise canceling headphones before. Price was right to try on recent flight. Comfortable over my ears. Could not hear buzzing airplane noises usually hear when wearing earbuds. Also could not hear my husband unless he tapped me on my shoulder. Did occasionally hear a crying baby. Normally am a nervous flyer but was able to fall asleep wearing these while listening to a meditation podcast! Liked how they folded up flat into my purse leaving plenty of room for other items. Dont be fooled but these kids sized headphones,they pack enough punch to rival many $20-40 competitors. Great value for the price,on sale for $10. Can turn the volume up all the way on my s9plus phone, since my actual s22 ultra doesnt have 3.5 mm jack, without distortion. Built in amps are made so people dont blow them up.These headphones dont have extreme bass nor ear piercing tweeters. First things first, the description for these headphones lists them as being "over-the-ear" but they are not! These are on-ear, meaning that they will not envelop your ear the way a larger headphone would; they sit on top of the ear. They have an "L-Shaped" jack, and the cable is unique…it is very pliable but remains to be seen how well it will hold up over time. The pros: They are super lightweight, headband tension not too strong, and have decent sound quality for the casual listener. I also like the way they fold up. Cons: They feel cheaply-made, and padding is extremely minimal, so not very comfotable for extended periods of wear. Also, as mentioned, the product description is a bit misleading. Due to this, they also are not great at blocking out background noise. The smaller 30mm drivers also keep these from delivering a lot of bass, but hit mid-tones pretty well. Bottom Line: These are a pretty great sounding headphone for $20, and would work well for casual listeners. I am happy with the purchase so far. However, build quality is a bit of a concern, so I'd recommend those with active lifestyles to search out something a bit more durable/comfortable.Joshua

The JBL headphones come in a colorful but high-quality box. The package includes a calibration microphone, USB charging cable, 3.5 mm audio cable, wireless USB dongle, USB-C to USB-A adapter and a user manual with warranty certificate. The last are rather unnecessary in my opinion, a QR code would have sufficed. Furthermore, a high-quality bag is included, in which the headphones can be stored well. The workmanship is very good, and everything feels very valuable. The wearing comfort of the headphones is also very high and pleasant, only the weight is a bit annoying. Also nice is the LED light on the ear cups, the design is clearly modern and shows at first glance that it is a gaming headphone The headphones can be connected via Bluetooth and Aux cable, thereby you have a stereo sound, but to have the full potential of the 3D sound it is advisable to use the supplied USB dongle. The latter I have connected with my Playstation 5. The connection was instantaneous and never had a drop in connection. The sound is very well tuned bass and treble sounds never seem overloaded. Especially in games with 3D sound you have a very nice differentiated sound you can hear where the opponents are coming from and can localize them acoustically alone. This increases the immersion and you are literally immersed in the game. The battery also lasts a very long time in my opinion, and you can always be heard clearly through the good microphone when playing online. Only the coordination between Playstation, soundbar and headphones does not work. You always have to manually select or deselect the headphones in the Playstation menu to switch between soundbar and headphones. an automatic detection and switch would have been better. Reason for the search I wanted a headset with which I can listen to music, chat in Discord, listen to Netflix and various media libraries. It should be wireless, comfortable, well padded and especially suitable for people who wear glasses. In addition, a cool design, a microphone that can be adjusted variably and maybe something with lighting I found all of that with the JBL Quantum 610. But first things first… The scope of delivery included the headset, a windscreen for the microphone, an adapter for the PC, a USB 3.0 charging cable and an audio cable. The whole thing came in a cloth bag, in which you can store everything well. The initial setup with the adapter works really well and quickly, almost without using the instructions. It worked well at first, but in order to set the headset perfectly, you have to have the appropriate app (Windows 11) running on the PC. After that you could adjust the tones, the micro-sensitivity, the LED lighting and many other settings and adjust the headset to really suit your hearing and the respective purpose. After the initial charge of about 3 hours, I was always able to use the headset completely empty, if I use it for about 3 hours every day, I could get by with it for almost 5 days without charging, of course without LED lighting. With the lighting about a day shorter. Various LED displays explain the status to the user. A few combinations as an example: USB dongle flashes white – no connection to the headset USB Dongle Solid white – Connected to headset Solid white on headset – Powered on and connected to dongle Red on mic – mic is muted In general, the headset can be worn for a long time without getting too warm underneath or becoming uncomfortable. I can also confirm the problem of the glasses brackets under the ear pads, which are not available. I can wear the headset with glasses without causing pain and being uncomfortable. When the Mirko is flipped up, it automatically mutes. This is a very good function if you tend to forget to mute. In general you can say that it is a really good headset with great battery life and excellent sound. The modern look and the LED lighting are also a great eye-catcher for this headset in its price range.Saarkite

When I opened the headset, I was immediately surprised by several impressive features: -How lightweight the product is -The ease of connection via both Bluetooth and the included wireless adapter -The sound quality once connected was astounding While these headphones are very lightweight, they do not appear to lack the durability one would expect with such an expensive headset. I have already spent several hours with the product on and don't feel the typical ache or soreness from similar products. Additionally, I fell in love with the "lift to mute" feature for the microphone as I've also been using these for my work-from-home setup and experience excellent results. Connecting the headset was a piece of cake. Obviously, a Bluetooth connection these days is preferred on many systems due to the simplicity, but the quality and ease of using the wireless adapter to connect to a variety of systems is spectacular. As mentioned, I connected these to my work computer and can seamlessly switch from music to video calls with no interruption. As far as the sound quality goes, it really is tough to beat JBL products these days for the price point, value and quality of build. I first tested these for music quality and can say it stands by itself on this alone. Anything from classical to metal, from hip-hop to country, the sound profile maintains the JBL performance expectations among leaders in the industry. Active noise cancellation (ANC) continues to be a great differentiator among such products – this headset is no different. These particularly shined considering I tested them with dogs at my feet, the doorbell/phone ringing intermittently, and noise from outside. External noise was not a problem at all when wearing the headset. Overall, I have only very good things to say about the JBL Quantum 910 headset. I genuinely try to play devil's advocate with reviews, but there really was nothing that stood out as a major downside or negative. The sound is flat, as a monitoring set these are not designed for music listening. Size of the ear muffs is good, I would consider these to be average and would fit most ears. This is a great product for the price. I do highly recommend buying these for listening to music & for recording. I highly doubt you will find a better pair of headphones in an electronics store for twice as much. However, I DO NOT recommend using these for mixing/mastering due to the lack of flatness in the sound quality. The bass is pretty intense for mixing/mastering in my opinion. I use several different pairs of headphones for mixing/mastering, just to get an overall 'feel' for the sound of the mix, so for that reason I don't regret buying these. Bottom line? Ordered these for an upcoming recording project. They don't fit real comfortably and become sweaty quickly. There isn't a lot of clean low end you'd expect from a headphone. I'm going to keep them to complete the recording project, my mates aren't too picky. The cables will be plenty long enough. I will be wearing different phones to better monitor the mix. On a side note….2 days after I ordered two of these, the two pack went on the sdotd on another site. If you need a cheap headphone…and see that deal….you might be okay. I just bought a couple of these on sale price to add to my early-stage home studio. Overall, I'm pleased with these. I think they're great to throw on each of my band members to lay down tracks. Plenty of low end to keep the drummer and bassist happy, high freqs don't offend, and mids sound good. In fact, I'm not really sure what my issue is with these. However, when I'm mixing and think I have a good sound, I'll compare with a pair of Skull Candy Aviators and Apple Ear pods and find different issues with each. Not huge issues, but usually something to do with the mid to mid-high range. It SEEMS like these color their mid freqs. a tad. I know all headphones are different and it is good practice to often switch between different sets for reference, and it could totally be inexperience on my part as a mixer, but these are the issues I've come across after 20+ hours of use. It is not something that would discourage me from recommending these to fellow home studio dudes and dudettes. Probably not for audiophiles, but if you are one, you're probably not even shopping in this price range to begin with. Meh … but, shoot, what should one expect for such a low price? While these cans are fairly lightweight, they are fairly well built, overall. Comfortable, with little or no "microphonic" distractions (meaning one does not hear noise from the cable or headband or earphone receiver cups – as occurs so often on inexpensive headphones.) Cable is lightweight and does not feel as durable as the rest of the unit. Headband copies many other headphones, such as the venerable SONY 7506 and some Audio-Technica studio monitors – and is just OK (no complaint, but nothing special,either). Sound signature is dark, muffled, and lacking detail. Mid range and treble frequencies are subdued and dull. Bass is muddy and lacks punch, and disappointing overall. But, this is what one USUALLY expects and gets at this price point. In contrast, the similarly priced Takstar HD-2000 has a far cleaner, more open, and detailed audio profile, and Superlux HD-661 andHD-672 for an additional ten to fifteen buckaroos are WAY more open, clear, clean, punchy, and neutral – i.e., accurate – and represent a huge bargain among affordable headphones. Similarly the JVC HRA-R700 are a much more substantial product with far superior sound, close to the Superlux, (which I think are the current performance value leaders in this market segment. Therefore, while the Musician's Gear headphones are … um … just OK … they ARE, ultimately, worth what you pay for them. I guess. I will probably give these away to someone without any headphones. I rate them 3 stars because they are just average, ordinary cans for the price – as I think there are better alternatives for the same or just a little more of your hard earned brass. And this is just MY take – your mileage may vary.TT

Very Comfortable like pillows on your head the Sound Quality is Outstanding Destroys any BOSE or Apple Product. they are a little demanding as far as Power is concerned. but the Sound Quality is so good. They are Really good at Blocking out the outside Noise so NO need for noise canceling which i feel hurts sound quality. i give them a solid 9 out of 10. My other Headphones i use to compare to are Meze Audio Classic 99, Grado 325i, and Sennheiser HD600's the only reason for a 9 out of 10 is due to the Power Demands these need to really Sing, and the fact they don't have changeable Cables. While testing i Ran a Creek audio headphone Amp with a Rega Planet CD player. For the Price you CAN'T get a better sounding Headphone. Build quality is excellent, but points shaved off for the dangling wires that link the cans, and for a permanently linked cable, meaning it will not be a simple job to replace, should it become damaged. The sound is a little flat overall, but still better than the lower end headphones (compared against £40 – £80 Sony, Sennheiser, and AKG’s). This is not an issue with what I wanted, as it’s mainly to edit Voice (Narrating and Voiceovers), and listening to music is still very good, picking up all the range with clarity and depth. Could be better, but not by much. They work well on both my laptop and my studio mixer, which is why I chose the 80Ω version. They block out external sounds, and keep the internal sounds contained, even with the volume is high. Rumour has it that the sound is much better on the 32 and 250Ω versions, and may look at a future purchase of these. The comfort is excellent, and the velour pads are perfect, even when worn for 2 hours at a time. Studiospares provided an excellent price and service, and have other high quality products that range from competitive to excellent value for money.George K.

While the headphones are built well, portable/foldable, and come with nice accessories (bag, adapter), I found them to be very uncomfortable by the 1 hour mark. Perhaps that's because I wear glasses, so you might want to look elsewhere if that's your case as well. But regardless, I didn't find the sound to be great. Songs that I am familiar with lack the bass and often times, these were no better sounding than the $20 MDR-ZX110 headphones from Sony. I will admit that the headphones are durable and will last much longer than those Sony headphones. The cord length is also incredibly long, which is annoying when you're already near your computer/phone.SuperSmashFM

I'd been using some TASCAM headphones which weren't really made for referencing purposes, and realized I needed a pair that would give me more separation and clarity, while not costing me my first born. These Audio-Technica phones do the trick. Nice balanced sound with decent separation. Immediately was able to tell the difference between them and my Tascams (Not a slight towards TASCAM! I've been a pro live engineer for 35 years. I've owned multiples of the Sony V6's ,7506's, V900s, Sennheiser HD280's, Shure SR440's and have tried countless others. Currently use ATH-M50x but am also going to buy the M70x. However, I previewed these M30x's in a store was immediately impressed by the intelligible but well balanced presentation. Bought a pair on the spot. They don't have the low end oomph of the 50x's which I still use for gigs, but I love them for getting detail out of things and they're excellent for watching movies and casual lower volume listening. One star off as they don't have a coiled cord and the left channel had just perceptibly less presence than the left which hopefully was only that particular pair. I'd have taken them back but was in another city the next day.Stephen E.

Purchased these headphones for home studio mixing after they were highly recommended by some very trusted friends who have been in the mixing game for quite some time now. I am just getting started with mixing and recording myself but I love the sound and feel of these headphones. Very light and easy on the ears and even after hours of working with them they still feel comfortable. The sound is also very faithful to the real thing. By that I mean that previously working with only my studio monitors I experienced the "sounds great in the studio but awful in the car" phenomenon. Not so after using these headphones. Very true response on sound. Best used for mixing in the studio. Would definitely recommend for that purpose. I will probably buy a set of HD9 headphones for tracking since they are closed back and will not bleed. These may not be the best for tracking due to the open back nature that allows for close representation when mixing. Hope this helps.Ken

I am 20yo and an aspiring sound producer. I listen to a vast amount of music and just about everything I can find to play on these headphones. From usage in my studio projects to simple leisurely activities (games, music) these headphones are very strong assets. There is excellent outside noise rejection and cancellation once you start playing something. You'd have to wave your hands or cause a tremor in the room to let me know you're trying to get my attention. These headphones are powerful and comfortable, and I love to use them for absolutely everything I am able to use headphones to listen to. It even came with a handy PreSonus draw-sack, although the drawstrings quickly broke within a month or less of day-to-day usage. The only drawbacks for me were: (1.) the result of an accident that occurred where the headphones were plugged into a laptop and the laptop got knocked over onto the side of the audio jack, bending into and ruining my laptop's audio jack input, as well as the headphone's jack. The fall was less than two feet off the ground yet the impact was large enough to cause such damage. (2.) The cord is way too long for my style of usage when not in my studio. I find myself having to coil the string up in my pocket whenever I'm mobile. However, that's clearly not the type of usage it was intended for when it was made. Personal mishaps and usage habits aside, these headphones are awesome, and are an excellent buy for the asking price.Benjamin

I did not get these for their intended purpose DJ'ing. I bought them as an output for a FLAC player (FiiO M11). Initially I tried to use in ear headphones but couldn't get the sound I wanted out of them. These headphones are unbelievable and deliver a beautiful listening experience. Although lightweight & made from plastic, the X-10 is build to last; the metal headband, plastic hinges up to the hex key bolt makes it feel rugged but strong. The sound seems flat at first but while listening more closely, the X-10 quality comes through with incredibly detailed & well balanced sound. The large over the ear cup offer great sound isolation even when the volume is cranked up because you do not feel any pressure within. If you want a headphone for listening in and away from the DJ booth, the X-10 will be the last headphone you will ever purchase.Francisco

Havent had to buy a new set of headphones in at least 10 years but i made the right choice with these. They fit perfectly esp if you have a smaller head, my last two pair (Ultrasone and Sony) were too big. They are extremely well made and sound exactly right; fairly flat not overly bright and excellent bass. Most headphones i have used i need to boost the high or low end or trim up to get the right sound but these sound more true to the source material. They arent cheap by any means but like other Pioneer DJ products i have (PLX 1000 turntable, CDJ 2002 MK 2) they are superb.chilliwinters415

This is my second pair of the Beyerdynamic DT1770, my first pair I got when they came out a few years ago and the box does look different than the the current OEM box, Beyerdynamic has moved to a different presentation of their headphones and image of the company. So I have only had these headphones for an hour but I am greatly enjoying them. Trying out different musical examples on different devices. Phone and computer. I primarily got these for monitoring work for voice over but I havent tried out swapping the ear pads yet. I appreciate the fact that all the parts are designed to be fixed/replaced to allow for long lasting gear. The sound itself is very clean and braid from the strong lows and blended mids and highs. I've been an Audiophile since the early 70's (which makes me a Geezer!) and I have owned myriads of equipment but on 4 sets of head phones. Some ancient 29.00 Sennhieser headphones from the 70's and a pair of Sennheiser HD 580's for about 20 years (with which I have the most experience) and some AKG thing which I haven't really listened to much from Massdrop. I wanted closed back headphones and these being a Beyerdynamic Tesla varian appealed to me. I have a NuPrime DAC 10H at present with an excellent headphone amp and an Antipodes DX server (mostly FLAC) but the objective is to get a good DAP, so I've patiently been waiting for the NuPrime Omnia P 1 (which was supposed to be released for sale in January '17 but so far nada. I wanted closed ear since I was tired of the 580's open air sound. Overall sonic quality tends a tad toward bright, but not enough so to bother me Bass is good. They are quick which I put down to the Tesla drivers. At my age I've lost a bit of High Freq. hearings, so being a little bright isn't a bad thing. Overall, I'm generally a loudspeaker listener, but these will serve my purposes quite nicely. Fit and finish is of high quality and they are comfortable. So these get my recommended thumbs up!!!!rbt32412

I already have a pair of traditional wired ATH-M50X but decided to treat myself to the bluetooth version. They are basically the same headphone I already have, but without a cord. They do come with a cord, but it is quite short and isn't coiled. They come with a USB charging cord that is VERY short at about 14 inches. I find this a little too short, but it gets the job done. The instructions were a little TOO simple and consisted of just images and very little text. It was enough to get me started, but there was no information for any sort of troubleshooting. As this is my first bluetooth device, a little more information would have been helpful. The problem I had was once I connected with the transmitter that connects to my 'legacy' equipment, that was the sole device the headphone wanted to connect to. It took a little fiddling around to figure out how to get the headphone to connect to my laptop and cell phone. It would have been nice to have troubleshooting instructions. All that being said, the headphones sound as great as the wired version. I haven't had any problems with interference or a dropped signal. My house isn't very big so I can't really get out of range without going outside which I haven't tried yet to see how far the signal reaches. Great Headphones!!Nancy

When I first put them on I did not like how hard they clamped down on my ears and head. My ears are a bit sensitive to pressure and after wearing my Beats for an hour, my right ear often hurts. The Bose QC45s are so comfortable and sound really good. The ATs don't have all the features… I decide to try cranking the volume. Wow the ATs sound amazing at higher volume levels! The Bose and my corded Sony MDR-7506 start to sound harsh while the AT's just get better. I am very curious if the extra pressure squeezing my head has a positive effect on the sound? I do not mind the pressure on my ears as much as I expected. These have twice the battery life of the Bose and sound better, yes please.Coder J

I use these on my android phone wirelessly (bluetooth) and with my linux computer wired directly through the motherboard line out for pc games, youtube, music, and disneyplus. I also use them wired into a surface go reformatted with ubuntu 22.04. Got them to work with bluetooth with the linux desktop computer but I don't actually have the SMA antennae attached to it so it is not really a fair test. (it is laggy, but it did connect and produce sound) They work great anywhere they are wired and wirelessly on android with wired connections sounding better. I don't really use windows often so can't comment on that at this time. I'm not an audiophile, but the audio sounds crisp with nice bass when watching movies with special effects. Music also sounds crisp and precise. They do fit fairly snugly but feel comfortable on the ears and are well made. I previously owned a pair of klipsch reference but these seem slightly better built. I consider them an upgrade in build and sound quality.Robert

I wanted some headphones to use with my home stereo. I prefer wired as I think the sound is better. They aren't the most beautiful headphones, but they have a certain retro charm. However, the sound is very good. Really full, warm sound with plenty of detail. They are open back, so your family get to enjoy the music if it's turned up too loud, but it hasn't really been an issue. Being open backed means they have a more natural sound – I'm really not keen on noise cancelling headphones, personally. I have also used them out and about and they dealt with the outdoors really well.oz1889

I'm only giving these headphones 4 stars due to the cable. It's really microphonic and attached and ehhh. Ok, now that that's out of the way, these headphones are amazing. These are my first real audiophile headphones, coming from the Sony XM4. I know it's cliche to say "I CAN HEAR EVERYTHING!" but that's what it feels like. There's a ton more treble detail and mid detail. The imaging and soundstage, are amazing. Everything in the music just seemed more alive. Listening to The Distance by Cake opened up a whole new world in music for me. In short, these are great.Gavin B.

Out of the box it is a very controlled headphone.. after a couple of hours you can feel the sound opening and it becomes sublime! Either being drives by my mobile or on my dac/amp combo.. it is so easy to drive that you can just use with your mobile and you won’t miss almost anything. It is on par with my other sennheiser headphones a tad more relaxed but you won’t feel your are missing any definition, bass is there but not on your face. The mids are on point and the highs are just there without being aggressive. Really good for enjoying the music, not over analysing it but I can guarantee you, you will hear things with this headphone that you haven’t heard with the normal consumer sets! I have purchased some cheap headphones in my day. All of them were terrible. I have purchased soem expensive headphones as well, Pioneer, AKG, Sennheiser, and I promise you. THESE ARE BETTER. They have 50mm drivers that just pound. I have not tried using a headphone amp but for 50$ you can buy a tube amp that would make these headphones sound even better. They are comfy, and they come with two cords, that are re-moveable. A feature only offered on high end headphones. And the cable is SO NICE. It even has a bend protector on the cable. very nice! The sound is rich and full, sounds just as good or better than a pair of Beats. using these for Ableton and Serato. BUY THESE. I PROMISE they won't let you down.honestdealsusa

The headphones are good. The customer service is not. I received what I ordered which included a boom mic to be connected to and used with headphones. However, the cord on the boom mic does not fit into the port on the headphones. It is too small. Only one cord in the box fits and it is an extension cord with no volume or mute controls on it.

I have emailed back and forth with their CS, and all I get are replies for more information, which I had already provide in the previous emails. I was then asked for a video of the problem and even with that, I received a reply asking for more information. Extremely frustrating since they only have a foreign number to call.

All I want is a boom mic that fits into my headphones as the picture on the box shows. Apparently, they can’t handle that.Beverly Matthews

For decades I have used MDR 7506, 7509, 7510, and 7520 headphones from Sony. Sony discontinued all but the 7506, and it's too bad because the 7520s were spectacularly accurate, detailed, and reliable in all ways. (I have been a location sound guy for film, a producer, director, and editor for same, and now I record audiobooks. I have spent much time with headphones.) 7506 are a bit of a professional default in broadcasting and film; good price point, dependably rugged to a point, and a sound that you know. (A little like Yamaha NS-10 near field speakers…in other words, nothing stellar, but you know what you are getting.) Having recently been on a hunt for cans to replace my 7520s, (and currently using Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro), and I picked up a set of 7506s after years of not having them, and I have to say they are fine-ish but do not excel in any way. They are good for location sound, they are even good for general music listening and TV viewing, but they are in no way mastering headphones, nor are they good for hours-long voiceover work. I find them reasonably balanced, if a little bass-heavy (good for location work because you can year your problems better), but the upper mids, where your speech is, is super harsh. Like a knife in your ears harsh. There is a really peculiar resonance that just makes it impossible to not be distracted, and to really depend on what you are hearing. While they are, again, a defacto standard in the pro world, they leave a ton to be desired in terms of true accuracy and long term use. I recently tried a series of cans from AKG, Austrian Audio, Sonys I imported from Japan, and 7506s, and they all performed way below the DT770 Pro in accuracy, balance, comfort, and all around performance. Also, over the years, the 7506 ear pads have gotten lower in comfort, so I replaced them right away with other, deeper pads. This does affect the sound, if you choose to go this route. Doesn't make it better or worse, but does make it different and you have to recalibrate your ears and brain to get used to it. So if you buy these knowing what you are getting into, they are a good value, but that is about it.Stephen

Not for listening to music, but for accurately monitoring recordings. The frequency response is as flat as possible, ensuring you are hearing what you recorded with no added low end. However, I still listen to music with them and they suit the purpose perfectly. Overall a solid, classic design. Does exactly what it claims. The only flaw is one that can be avoided – don't rip them off your head and clap the cans together or the foam from the earpieces will wear out and become disconnected from the glue holding them to the cans, and you'll have to reglue them after trying to precisely fit it back. Just be responsible and they will take care of you for many years. I swear by them to the point that I've bought them 3 times, and keep the boxes in my mic cabinet.rgdood12345

I've been using the MDR-7506 Headphones for the last 25+ years, I really love the way they sound. I use them for studio and live applications and they always deliver a clear sound with great definition. I never get tired of their sound. During the last 4 months, I bought the 3 sets of headphones from another brand, the first time it was their 250 ohms version, then I tried the 80, and last the 32 ohms version. I returned all of them within a day of purchase, I guess I really wanted to have those headphones because they look cool and I think I gave them a fair chance (maybe because of their tight isolation of external noise/sound and great soft feel on my ears), but I ended up buying more MDR-7506 instead, maybe I'm an addict to their sound as I used to be to my old Yamaha NS-10 (I had 3 pairs of those). But, since this is a review for the Sony 7506, all I can say is that I will stick to them. I've produced at least 15 albums and 2000+ jingles using them, maybe that's the reason why I love them so much.Hedras Roderico
