My hair is pretty relaxed for having natural curly mixed hair. But I am in my 40s , so unfortunately, (unlike the rest of my body) it's thinning. U don't need a whole lot, with this stuff, a little bit goes a looong way! Focus on the ends , sometimes it gets greasy! I am absolutely obsessed with the smell of this. I have very fine hair and find it easier for me to spray some into my hands and rake it through my hair that way to get it evenly distributed without using too much, otherwise it can get greasy on me using it directly from the sprayer. Very fine mist though and considering how little you need to coat your hair, it's a really good value. I can see this bottle lasting me the rest of the year if not longer.

I read all the good reviews and thought it would be a good buy, however when I used it it made my hair feel super snarly!! No matter how careful I was I was just breaking and pulling hair because it was so snarly! I have never had that before not even with hairspray in my hair! It felt weird like a bad hairspray and a greaser…. it was used on hair washed 4 hours prior and was fully dried…. I applied and was ready to Hot Iron my hair, but it was just snarely no matter how I brushed it, it was terrible in my hair and when I was FINALLY done hot ironing it was still just a mess and it felt gross like a film all over my hair…. It smells like really strong men's cheap cologne. The smell is very masculine. My husband smelled it and even questioned why my hair smelled like a man, and I gave him the bottle to demonstrate. I'm very picky about the scents that I use, and I will be avoiding this just based on the smell. Most people who wear long hair and use a curling iron are women, so you would think a more neutral scent or something feminine would be more suitable. I bought this product because I’ve been needing heat protection for my hair. Chi is an AMAZING brand so this has to be marvelous I thought. Boy was I WRONG!! This was my first time using any kind of heat protector in my life. When I sprayed it on, it felt like hair spray. As soon as I ran my fingers through my damp hair it felt sticky and hard. I started to get bad vibes about this product right away. I ignored the red flag, and continued to blow dry my hair. My hair was a complete mess. Tangled everywhere, breaking apart. Hair was all over the place. And the hair kept getting stuck to my brush and fingers causing me to break it and creating extreme damage. I have red hair at the moment & this product definitely faded the color out. The way it looked afterwards was dry, absolutely shine less, and very brittle. The only thing it did was give me volume. That’s why I gave it two stars. It’s more like 1.5 tbh. I can name a bunch of other products that can give you volume for way less damage. For a first time heat protectant buyer. This was a no no. I love this stuff. I spray my whole head and then brush it before I use my curling iron. It seems to help hold the curls and I don't use any other hairspray after. It's not crunchy or sticky at all. I love that it has thermal protection since I usually curl my hair. You can't even tell there's hairspray in my hair after I'm done curling. Starting with the PRO, this spray is awesome after you have styled your hair, particularly with some curls that you want to hold yet you don't want to use stiff hairspray. You could run your fingers through the curls or tousle a little bit as you spray all around your hair. It is an awesome finishing spray! However, the big Con is that it absolutely, positively is an NOT a good thermal styling spray. Some of the positive previous reviews said this product made it shiny and held either a straightener or curling iron pass over. So I sprayed it on my blowdried hair and went ahead and curled my hair with a curling iron. I didn't notice at the time, but at some point later in the day I thought I smelled burning hair. I was looking for a heat protectant I could use on my fine color-treated hair that would not alter my color or cause product build-up, be sticky or tacky, and would be versatile! I wanted something I could use on damp or dry hair to protect it from heat and this product is great! I use this on damp freshly shampooed and conditioned hair after I put in an anti-snap product and lightweight oil (pre-blow-dry). Before drying I spray a light even mist over my hair and comb through and section off to blow dry. The results are amazing. My style lasts beautifully, feels like silk, and second-day hair requires a slight flat iron touch up (if that for my long bangs). I have no tangling while drying or after, I have no sticky tacky feeling (which is why I hate "hair sprays") except for very few products (one from Kenra (medium hold) and one from a brand not carried by Ulta) when needed. I cannot say enough good things about this product and appreciate the advice I received from one of the Senior Stylists at the Kildeer, IL location who recommended this product. Love it! Have curly hair so bought it to straighten my hair to cut it evenly, my hair has bounced back perfectly! I used leave-in first, wouldn't recommend it on its own. Similar thickness and viscosity to castor oil, coats the hair well. I used loads on top of my leave-in but it didn't weigh my hair down or make it look product-ty, just super smooth. If you have very fine hair perhaps the spray version might be better, I chose this one because it's more concentrated. I’ve been using this product for years. If I was reviewing this product a few years ago I’d give it 5 stars. As of late I’ve moved away from heat styling and accepting my natural texture. This product was my best friend for quite a-few years. After blowing out my hair I’d section out my hair and give them a healthy spraying with this spray. I never had any issues with greasiness or stickiness. My hair always looked smooth and stayed nice and soft. This definitely combats frizz and does a nice job protecting against thermal heat. The biggest issue I had with this product is the fragrance. It’s pretty heavy and sweet. It Always made me sneeze! Without fail. Obviously I put up with it, but it definitely irritated my nose. It looks frizzy and damaged but it's not really. Just a few light sprays of this over my dry hair before a flat iron and my hair is can be transformed to spun silk! It's amazing! I really like this heat protecting spray, it smells great and it looks like it works so far. I started using it 2 months ago, straight after a fresh cut. Normally after about two months, I see my hair getting damaged, especially the ends, but it's not the case this time. I spray it all over my hair before I blow dry (I have curly hair that I blow dry straight in the winter) and on my roots when I need to freshen up with a straightener. I have NATURAL HAIR. I have 3C curls. I typically don’t straighten my hair, it’s usually in it’s natural form. I’ve tested out a couple of products over the years, but many have failed to work. A lot of products tend to weigh my hair down and make it oil rather quickly. I purchased this product off of a single review written by a person of color. I hadn’t seen any accept one. I sectioned my hair and applied the product in dime size amounts to sections of my hair, distributing it with a denman brush. I used my Dyson blow dryer to straighten in and then the magic actually happened when the flat iron came into play. I really saw how effective the product was. It was smooth, flowing, and extremely shiny. I only applied a dime size amount of Olaplex before straightening and the Kérastase did all the magic actually. The shipping took forever. Literally, a month. I’m not sure if I chose the right things for my hair or if I just honestly don’t like them. The tops of the shampoo and conditioner bottles are poorly designed and hard to squeeze. In two attempts to wash my hair I had to squeeze so hard that when it did come out half the bottle sprayed onto my wall and was wasted. I didn’t expect it to help with flakiness much but it didn’t work for making my scalp less itchy either. I can’t speak to the effectiveness of the Thermal Magique because I’ve been too discouraged by how it and the Sorbet feel in my hair to style it. I’ve been using Drybar hair products for years and was excited to try the Hot Toddy hair protecting spray. Heat styling can cause so much damage so I try to protect my hair the best I can. Started using this product today. At first, I really liked it and thought it was nice overall. Then the smell hit. At first, I was like ah this is interesting. Not bad. But then it got worse. I was like why does this smell like this and what does it remind me of? I didn't quite like the smell, and as I used more of it (because the product itself is great), I then realized: it smells like cat litter. I'm going to return it for the coconut scented one and see if that one is better because the product itself is great. Very lightweight, sprays on easily, isn't sticky or tacky or gross. Left my hair feeling great, nice and soft, and actually made styling my hair a lot easier. It was just the smell that turned me off. I just had my hair cut short to because of damage but it is still hard to find a heat protector. So I am came across Fantasia, checked the reviews and sector buy it. I will say this 1. It isn’t oily 2. It does smell good like candy, 3. It doesn’t take much. But it didn’t quite stop the frizz. Still in search of a heat protectant, sadly this one isn’t for me—far too greasy. You’re supposed to avoid the roots but that’s pretty hard if you have a pixie cut. Even a light application weighs my hair down and looks too greasy. I think if the nozzle allowed a more fine mist then it would work far better…but despite household cleaners having this ‘technology’ that lets you spritz or stream, beauty products never make a mister that will accommodate various strengths. So I end up having to place this so far from my head, to avoid the dang roots, that I feel I’m spraying the mirror and my face as much as my hair. If you have shoulder length or longer hair, this isn’t an awful product…but regardless of length, if you have oil prone or super thin hair I’d avoid! Meanwhile I’m just turning the heat lower on my flat iron as that seems to work just as well.
My hair has never looked so good! I love it. I use it before I curl or straighten my hair and I only use it on the last 4-5 inches of my hair. The first time I tried it, I thought it was going to be really oily but it dries as you go and leaves the hair soft and smooth, and a nice finished look. I do like this, works good when you do not over spray. Can be very greasy on finer hair types so use sparingly. A little goes a long way with this product. I've been using this heat protectant for as long as it's been out now, and it's amazing! My hair has been at various lengths over the years, from all the way down to my bottom, to almost to my collar, and now I'm older so it's shoulder length. It has always worked great and I'm assuming always will! I have always had very thin oily hair, so its hard to find products that dont make it worse or weigh it down. I dont understand why people give bad reviews for a broken bottle or spilled bottle etc… it's ridiculous to give something a bad review, when it brings the points down and they haven't even used the product. I have thin hair that gets weighed down easily. Heat protectants that I've used in the past don't always mix well with other styling products, and I've tried so many combinations over so many years, leaving me feel hopeless! I was so excited to get this to use with my LeDuo360 and LeVolume, but first spray and…I smell ALCOHOL?1? Yes, the first ingredient is Alcohol. WHY? Yes, it says karatin infused (9th ingredient) and other goodies, but alcohol? Two types of alcohol in this! So my already dry hair will not be getting a dosing of a more drying ingredient. I am very confused by the rave reviews when this clearly SMELLS like alcohol and also evaporates like alcohol, so HOW is it helping the hair?? Spray it on your hand…it's GONE within a few seconds- if you're putting it on your hair, it's gone before you get the flat iron/dryer/styler or anything else to work with. Placebo effect for the dazzling reviews?? I'm just stumped. i love this product and it does everything it says it should — my hair is finicky, so that's high praise. but the glass bottle? garbage. knocked it over one time and it shattered, and i do mean SHATTERED, into many tiny pieces. i keep finding them the hard way because they were too small to see to sweep up. t couldn't salvage the serum because of all the little shards! nearly $30 in the trash, itty bitty shards stabbing my feet, and oil/serum that took hours to completely remove from my floor. i understand sustainability, but surely there's a medium to be met here?
The product was okay; I used it for about 4 days. Then on day 5, the slightly oily bottle slipped from my hand to the tile floor and shattered – I mean SHATTERED- into a million pieces. Still picking up tiny pink shards of glass and also pulling them from my feet. Have used lots of oil type hair products in past and never had breakage like this. I would avoid based purely on packaging!
I wasn't blessed with thick hair. Mine is fine, medium length and color-treated (honey beige blonde) with a mind of its own. Until a month ago, my hair routine was shampoo/condition, work oil treatment through hair, use foam volumizer, and blow-dry. I saw BLOCKADE on Amika website and realized in all my years of styling and blow-drying, my hair looked fine for a few days then lost its fizzle. Okay, so maybe it's the weather. BLOCKADE Test Run: I shampooed and conditioned; stepped out of the shower. I worked three pumps of BLOCKADE through my hair.. I could see a difference, my hair was loving it and I wasn't half finished. I used my other oil treatment, foam volumizing then started blow-drying. It was then that I saw a huge difference. My hair felt/looked fuller and shinier. I had used other products that supposedly protect the hair from heat and damage but none of them did what BLOCKADE does. My family and friends noticed the difference which is huge. BLOCKADE lives up to its name and delivers. My style lasts til the next shampooing. First of all, Pureology can do no wrong in my eyes. Every single product they make is absolute gold. I loved having the opportunity to try this heat protectant smoothing lotion in exchange for my honest review. The 6.6 oz retails for $29 on the pureology website. That price seems pretty fair. I have long hair and I usually use about 2 or three pumps. It smells great and smooths any frizz. Also, a lot of people skip the heat protectant step before they blow dry, flat iron or curl, and the professionals will tell you that’s a big mistake. Especially for color treated hair. This lotion is great. It feels very lightweight, I have oily scalp and hair that is tend to be greasy fast and yet very frizzy due to highlights and straightening. I was glad to find out that this lotion is not greasy or sticky and doesn’t weigh my hair down and It does help protect my hair from heat treatment and it’s noticeable. After two week of use I noticed that it helped my hair look smoother and less frizzy. I actually liked the result so much that I even take the time to use my hair straightener more frequently. I really enjoyed the shampoo from this line, but I feel the conditioner & smoothing cream are too heavy for my hair type. I shampoo and style my hair once a week and with the use of this product I had to shampoo after 2 days due to itchy scalp and just overall weighing my hair down. I use another high end line smoothing creams and I can go 6-7 days without shampooing. I’m all about that dry shampoo life. this works somewhat, but so foes a six dollor mousse. it leaves my hair sticky and filmy like that hairspray feeling. i used it while vacationing in high humid climates @nd still frizzed. the smell is a chemically kinda smell. i just think its to expensive to work the way it does on my hair. totally disappionted. it also makes my hair itch and to much dries my scalp. cannot wear alone either. takes away shine.Cupcake
I love using the sleek iron by matrix when I straightened my hair. I like that it does not weigh my hair down. Also, it helps keep my flyaways in place. The weather here in Vegas has been warmer and windy and this product helps my hair not frizz. The sprayer delivers a good mister to distribute the product. The scent is light kinda of a herbal scent. I like that the bottle is see through that way you can see how much product is left Definitely will continue using the sleek iron when I straightened my hair.martha .m
This Matrix Total Results Mega Sleek Iron Smoother is the best I've tried. It protects my hair from heat damage and also keeps in de-frizzed all day. To use this I just section my hair before straightening and spray it evenly through each section. It dries quickly and doesn't leave my hair sticky/tacky like other brands I've previously tried. It smells lovely too. The bottle lasts me several months and the spray nozzle sprays a light mist evenly over the hair. Highly recommended this spray. I also use Matrix Total Results Mega Sleek shampoo and conditioner which are my holy grail products.

This was the first time I purchased this. Im so impressed with L'Oreal products, like hair color, facial creams, shampoo I thought I would try it. Amazing humidity resistant hair straightening, blowdry treatment. Keeps my 60 year old color treated red hair looking 20. LOVE IT! It makes your hair so silky and if I curl it, it takes the curl fine. Be carefully to use a slight mist since the product goes a long way. It also can make vynil floors slick. I bleached my hair twice in three days and the second day of bleaching my hair it was completely fragile to the point where I literally did not want to brush it because every time I did hair and hair would fall off and I'm talking chunks of hair. I immediately remembered about this product, because I had used it in the past and it had made wonders for me. This time it still came through for me, I bought the shampoo and conditioner along with the hair repair mask and like I said it didn't disappoint me at all. As soon as I washed my hair with it I was able to feel the difference, after brushing my hair my hairbrush would have little amount of hair. I have used it about 5-6 times since I've bleached it and my hair is starting to feel back to normal. Honestly if it wasn't for this I think my hair would have been super short by now because of all the breakage I had. I also would recommend you not washing your hair daily, allow 2-3 days in between each hair wash to let your hair rest but that's only if your hair is as bad as mine was. So, I bought this on a whim, right before a long trip because I’ve been wanting a good heat protector when I blow dry and straighten my hair. I think I may have used waaaay too much because my hair was sticky after blow dying it 😭. My hubby and I were going out to a nice dinner and I had no time to rewash it, girl, I was sooooo pissed lol. I had to spray a bunch of dry shampoo in it because it was so sticky and looked like it was 1 week old. I’m hesitant to use it again and I can’t return it because I threw away my receipt arrrrrg. Lordy. I’ll give it one more shot, because I do feel like I may have overdone the spraying. This time I’ll use veeeery little and we’ll see how that turns out.kyla.b
