Siemens is a huge company with a full product support team – this makes this charger a standout among its peers. I bought this charger 3 years ago and it performed flawlessly every day since then. I had it mounted outside in the sun on the side of my tool shed in wind and rain and there was never a problem with my 2015 Chevy Volt. (I think mounting inside or at least sheilded from the sun and rain would make the unit last even longer.) The lease ran out and we got a 2018 Volt. Shortly afterward, my wife asked me if there was something to make inserting the connection from the charger to the car easier. I didn't think it was a problem, but later I tried to put the connector into the car and it was almost impossible. Turned out that there is a red rubber band seal at the bottom of the charger connector which had torn and jammed at the bottom of the connector. Then the Versicharge started blinking red and would not charge the car. Contacted Siemens customer support (call them – don't use their online support tool). After they returned my call and diagnosed the problem, they immediately sent a new unit! This was such a relief! This charger is not just a box connecting your circuit breaker to the car – there is a microcomputer inside and a bunch of relays. There is even a rotary switch inside where you can adjust the charge rate to 25%, 50%, 75% or Max.One tip – the rotary switch takes a flat blade screwdriver to turn but the slot does not point to the charge rate. There is a small black dot or bump to the side of the slot which points to the selected charge rate.
This has been a great unit. Using with an Outlander PHEV and charges as expected the glowing ring is easy to see if it is still charging or not. Electrical inspector wanted a GFCI breaker but was able to show him in the Manila that this unit has the capability built in but the reset is kind of odd so keep your manual handy or write down the reset somewhere in case you do get a fault.Cord is high quality and feels durable. Does have a receptacle for the charging head but it sticks out a bit and so we just coil the cord around the u it and works great doing that.Would buy again knowing Siemens is a known brand and it has a 3 year warranty. Price was also more reasonable than some other fancier options.This one did not have WiFi so if you want to control via phone look elsewhere. Our PHEV has a limited charge and range so didnt need WiFi controls.
We've only had this level two EV charger for a couple days so we can't vouch for long term durability, but in general, Siemens always makes good stuff. So far, we are really happy with this charging station. I really liked that this charger doesn't have unnecessary bells & whistles that would have jacked up its price. Our Chevy Bolt has sufficient charging options, so they aren't needed from the charger. This charger is easy enough to hang on the wall and since it can be unplugged and lifted off its mounting bracket it is reasonably portable. I do wish there was an option for a 25' or 30' cord so that it could easily reach a second car parked outside of our garage (e.g. a guest).One piece of frustration was that my electrician installed the outlet while we were waiting for the charger to be delivered. The documentation for this charger (both on this page and on Siemens' website) were a little too vague and confusing. The charger is a 30amp charger but the documentation had references to both 40amp and 50amp circuits. In addition it was hard to find a clear photo/graphic of the plug itself to clearly understand what style of outlet was required. Normally, a 220v 50 amp plug should have two hot prongs, a neutral prong and a ground prong. But this charger only has two hot prongs and one grounding prong. The lack of a neutral prong was a little unnerving. Probably my best advice would be to wait to install the charging station outlet until you actually have the charging station in hand so that your electrician can see exactly what is needed. Based on the documentation we determined that although the charging station is an 30 amp charging station, It does need to be attached to a 50amp circuit so as not to stress the wiring over the long run.

This Universal charger works wonders. It's named the RapidX and let me tell you that it surely lives up to it's name. I am a mechanical engineer and have a USB meter that measures voltage and current. So, I observed that when charging an iPad Pro with this Anker charger, voltage quickly raises to 15 volts. In contrast traditional USB chargers remain at 5 volts. Charging current starts at 2 amps, quickly dropping to ~1.5 amps. So, charging power is ~3x greater compared with traditional chargers. Due to the cost and not really needing super fast charging, I held off on getting a fast charger. But, now that I have one, it has changed how I look at it. First, I do not drain my phone or tablet below 35-40%. I also stop charging at 85%. Google the reasons if you want to know. For simular reasons I did not super fast charge. However, after several charges on both my tablet and phone, I have not noticed a significant change in temperature. I connected an inline volt/ current meter and foundthe charger or phone/tablet was continuously adjusting both. Cut my charging time by over half for large charge and almost 3x for small. I bought this to replace the original bulky charger that came with my nintendo switch. It had no foldable prongs, and no removable cable. This solves this problem not only by being half the size, but also being able to remove the cable so it can take up a little less space in a bag. I can confirm this works 100% with the dock if you are using the 65w version. After using this, I am convinced GaN based chargers are the way to go. I bought this charger for my Galaxy S20+, and thanks to PD (Power Delivery) it charges my phone as fast as my wall charger does at 25W. Also, this product should be able to charge a Galaxy S20 Ultra as fast as the 45W wall charger. The 15W port is a nice little bonus in case a friend needs a little juice.
