I have always had to shave every day–sometimes twice! It seemed like the moment I stepped out of the shower, I already had stubble. On top of that, I have keratosis pilaris, so shaving was very irritating to my bumpy skin. I had wanted to try laser hair removal for a long time, but it's so expensive to treat all the areas–it would be at least $2,000 to treat everything. I figured if this device could even just help reduce the amount of shaving, it would be well worth the price. Since the hair on my legs grew back so quickly, I decided to take the extra time to carefully do individual pulses, especially on my calves. I figured out a really efficient way so that I get full coverage in less than 10 minutes for both legs. The results have been beyond my expectations! Even after the first treatment, my legs stayed stubble-free longer. After each treatment, it just kept getting better and better. I could see patches where there's the cycle of growth that showed me how much growth I would have normally had without shaving. Now I can go for a whole week and still not really feel like I need to shave! I also used it on my armpits and bikini area which always had razor burn. Not anymore–it's truly amazing! This was my first experience with IPL, so I was very nervous, but definitely excited. The instructions for the SmoothSkin Pure Fit IPL Hair Removal System were very simple and easy to understand. There are only 3 buttons on the whole machine, so you feel very confident that there's nothing you'll forget to do or do incorrectly. Once you turn the machine on, it's instantly ready to go and you can place it against your skin. The machine automatically determines the best setting strength for your hair color and skin tone, so there's no guess work. You can then choose one of 3 settings with the simple push of a button and you're ready to start! I found the machine to be very quiet and the actual process was somewhat uncomfortable, but it varied each time and depending on what area I was treating. I tried my legs, underarms and bikini area and mainly treated my underarms and bikini areas exclusively. Sometimes I felt the process wasn't painful at all and other times, there was a slight zapping sensation accompanied by a warmth. I don't feel that it wasn't anything that couldn't be tolerated. The process was very fast and each area could be done within seconds to minutes. I have completed a total of 4 weekly treatments so far and each time I've noticed my hair is growing back much slower than it used to. I've also definitely noticed a decrease in the amount of hair I had. The SmoothSkin pure fit IPL hair removal system in black is a real game changer for in home hair removal. It is comes in a very nice boxed presentation in case you want to give it as a gift. I am laughing because would that be an insult to give this to someone, I do not think so if they ask for it as a gift. At any rate, the manufacturer produces and sends with the box contents a very thorough user guide that helps one figure out how to make sure that their skin tone works with the system. There are a couple of different ways to engage the laser light hair removal system. I personally like the button that allows for a continuous triggering of light to fry the hair follicles along the areas that you wish to remove hair from. The thing that I really like this time is that it came with an end cap that really helps target and minimize the light for smaller areas such as over the lip and facial hairs in tighter areas, plus under arm. I want to remind people reading this review that this is hair removal is not only for ladies but also men who have unwanted hair on their backs, their chests, etc. So, this is at least a 6 week process and commitment which also requires maintenance every so many weeks as hair tries to grow back. The user must first remove hair from the areas that are to be treated by either shaving, waxing, or tweezing. That gets the area as smooth as possible and then by doing a weekly treatment with the IPL, you gradually kill the hair follicle and thus, stop hair growth. However, those pesky follicles can come back so that is why a maintenance program is recommended. Clearly, it will not be a s much or as aggressive hair growth as in the beginning of the process, but there will be some regrowth and you tackle that as is necessary. The array of beautifully packaged filters carries a hint of science and a promise of scientifically measurable effects. So far, so good. Very visually pleasing. But this is not the instrument’s main function. I have been prompted to review the product, so here it is, after some 6 weeks of fairly regular use, albeit with a month’s break in between, as I went on a far-away holiday for a month and didn’t fancy lagging it with me. So – 2-3 times a week for a month, and now back to using it for a couple of weeks every 3-4 days. The first thing is, with time it gets easier and quicker to use. One learns one’s heat tolerance, for example. I started cautiously, as stated in the microscopic instruction booklet (you really need a magnifying glass to read it), from setting 1, and gradually increased the strength. Now I do every area on 6, painlessly. I have found the best, most comfortable way of holding the gadget, and thus increased the speed of the whole operation, armpits, bikini, legs, and SR. You can’t really go too fast as the intervals between impulses dictate how quickly you can move the machine from one spot to the next. As for the result – I simply cannot tell yet if the hairs are growing weaker. They are certainly still growing, so I have a long time to go. What I can discern, though, is that my face looks better after the SR treatment, brighter and smoother. If this is only my wishful thinking, so be it, after all, placebo effect is still a very valuable effect to experience. This is a beautiful device, with substance as well as style. The rotating head makes it easier to get to all areas. One thing I wasn't sure about when reading the description was whether there is a glide mode. There is, but it's quite slow between flashes so you have to glide slowly and with patience! I love the different heads for different areas of the body. They seem to shape to the body, especially legs, better than my last machine. The cool mode means that even on the higher settings there is no pain with this machine, and no redness, even on the face. After three weeks so far proving effective on legs and armpits, but no effect on face. I will follow the treatment plan and give it more time, so four stars for now. Have been using this product for a month, I used it on my armpit, bikini and legs every next day. I'd say it's pretty easy to use for a beginner, if you want to see the result asap just jump straight to lv6. It's not painful at all. The only thing i have to complain is the weight of the machine, it's a little bid heavy when it comes to using it on the legs area. I used to shave everyday, after 3 weeks, the hair in the armpit and legs area barely re-grow already. When I first received the product, I was amazed by the good design of its package, which is pretty, cute, and portable. I don't normally use items like this, but I thought why not. I got this little gadget not knowing what to expect or how easy it would be to use. It's very lightweight and it is easier to use than I thought it would be. The serum is also wonderful and works great with this facial wand. The problem is, I'm not sure it works to repair your skin quickly. I would say, LONG TERM use, it probably helps a bit. But the light is small and you move it around your face. I have had this Ipl for about 4 months. I used it diligently for the first 3 ( it took me this long to achieve significant reduction, but hair still definitely grows in treated areas ). I am still satisfied with reduction, but do see growth returning faster as I discontinue treatment, which I involuntarily had to do, as my device gets extremely hot and is stuck on the highest setting. It is painful to use on this setting and I have a high pain tolerance ( high as in took no pain killers of any kind following my c section because I felt the pain was tolerable ). For the time and money invested, I am not thrilled with the purchase, but hopefully I just received a faulty device and others have a better experience. I love the Braun Silk Expert Pro 5 system. Upon unpacking, I was able tell Braun took great care in curating this product. It comes with a gorgeous carrying case and there are spots for each piece or the device. First I tried a test spot on my arm. I made sure to shave it first and allow it to dry thoroughly. I used a smaller tip for this test area and it was pain free. Since I didn’t notice any negative affects on my test area, I decided to test it out on my legs the next day. After showering and drying, I used the wider tip so that I could glide it on my legs for a quicker process. If you hold the button down, instead of pulsing, it’ll allow the treatment to continue until you let go of the button which makes treating larger areas easier. Again, this was pain free. I am a mixed race female with a more olive skin tone and the reader for tone will let me know if the area I’m about to treat is acceptable since dark skin isn’t compatible with this system. I’ll continue to use this system weekly until I no longer have hair growth.Angie4u

I started using Lumi on the the first setting and gradually increased it into the third setting for the first 8 weeks. By the 8th week my leg hair was pretty much gone. The first setting is slightly faster than the third setting. I have now started using the fourth power setting and it is slightly slower but still really fast. I still can do like a full body treatment in under 30 minutes! As someone who used to have to shave everyday or every other day (since I live on an island), it is nice to now only have to shave every few weeks or even once a month. The more I use Lumi the slower my hair grows back and my hair has turned blonde. I always get compliments on how smooth my legs look. I used it on my face to get rid of some small facial hairs and after three treatments they didn't come back. Lumi even works on my bikini line. Super awesome and such a money saver. First, I would like to start with how simple it is to work with. Nothing complicated, very easy to remember, plus it has great instructions that come with the product. One of the biggest advantages is the speed with which you can cover larger areas, I can do my whole leg hip to toes for less than 10 min. I do that using my one of my favourite programs the pulsing one. I have done 8 sessions so I can not comment on any results. The only slightly negative aspect is that it get pretty hot. Not the laser impulse, but the machine itself. I like to take a pause when it feels too hot, just in case. Overall, I am quite happy and content. The design is light in the hand and pretty easy to manage in comparison to the bulkier heavier IP sets. You can always get up to 15% discount if you use a code from a youtube review. I have always wanted to try an IPL and after researching lots of different brands, I went for the Lumi IPL I was a little bit sceptical that it might not work. Wow I was surprised! The first 2 weeks I didn't see much improvement, but I persisted, continuing this on my legs, armpits and biking area. Week 4 I saw a difference. I can only IPL on one leg as I have a whole leg tattoo on the other so this was a great way to see the difference between the two. Although I didn't see much improvement on the armpits and bikini area. Week 8. Wow! My leg have hardly any hair growth, there are a few patches but I'm super pleased with this. Still continuing with using this twice a week on the armpits and bikini area – slight improvement. I did notice that these areas are taking longer to grow back and with less hairs. Week 12 – my leg is completely hair free..apart from the odd hair here and there! But I'm really really pleased with the results. Armpit and bikini area have still got a few weeks to go but eventhen I'm really pleased with the results so far, I think another 4 weeks of using twice a week should get rid of the stubborn hairs in these area! All in all, I highly recommend the Lumi IPL…. You really do need to be patience and persistent with this. I've had laser hair removal completed in a dermatologist office multiple times (4-6x each at different offices over many years), I've also owned several at home devices. Nothing has ever worked long-term. I've owned my tria for almost a year and a half. It has changed my life. On my neck, chin and upper lip I have seen a 98% decrease in hair growth. Consistency is key. It is difficult in the beginning but it gets much easier and less painful as the laser decreases the amount of hair growth over time. I started using a topical lidocaine but after around 4 treatments I no longer needed it. Now I use weekly for maintenance and it takes maybe 2 minutes in the morning to just zap and move on with my day. I use it every week. I am now working on my arms and legs. The only downside is how time consuming it is to treat larger areas, I wish there was a larger tria. I would highly recommend this device. For those of us with excessive hair growth, stick with it and this will change your life. Ok so I’m a blonde so this didn’t do much for my hair but to be fair I gave up pretty early on. BUT you guys—it ANNIHILATED my spider veins. I’m so pasty white I’m literally translucent and I had 3 kids in 3 years and I had all sorts of little spider veins all over my thighs. I did a lot of googles about different lasers and this one is very similar to the ones they use in doctors offices to get rid of blue and purple spider veins. It absolutely does! I wish I took more before and after! Here’s a couple of tips—you’ll know when you hit a spider vein bc it’ll hurt. But sometimes you’ll be right over a vein and not feel anything. My tip—go slightly off center and kind of play around w tilting the laser at different angels. You’ll feel it, you’ll nail that vein and in a few weeks it’ll just slowly fade away. It doesn’t work immediately for the veins, but it absolutely works. Also, try doing it right after you get out of a warm bath, your veins will be more noticeable.Laura

I used this product with my wife. We have been using the SmoothSkin Pure Mini once a week for about 4 weeks now as the directions instructed. The manual says that you can do a full body treatment in as little as 10 minutes, but it took 10 to 15 minutes to do both full legs. The product has 2 settings, regular and sensitive, the difference is the brightness/strength of the light flash. There is an internal fan because the bright light does produce heat, it sounds like a quiet hair dryer. It is very easy to use, just put the window side flush against your skin and push the button (either regular or sensitive) and it will emit a bright flash against your skin. There is a sensor that detects if the window is completely flush against the skin and if it isn’t it will not flash. For areas where it is not flat skin (ex: knees) there is a magnetic attachment that fits over the window that makes the window area smaller allowing for the product to be flush against the skin and flash. There was no discomfort, redness or irritation when using the product. After about 10 minutes of use the flashes do get warmer and warmer which can cause discomfort, I just waited a minute or two for it to cool off a little and continued the treatment. We used the sensitive setting on the inside of the thighs and on the back of the knee area since these are more sensitive areas and the flashes on the regular setting were a little hot. My wife has light skin and light hair on her legs and the instructions say it works best on darker hair, so she was a little skeptical on whether this would work for her. It wasn’t until after her second treatment (week 2) that she noticed a change in the growth of hair on the treated area compared to the non-treated tattooed area. The hair was not growing back as quickly in the treated areas because it was shorter than the tattooed area hair. I noticed that some of the thicker hairs were not coming as thick and a little squirrely (not straight) which made me think the treatment was affecting the hair follicles. We will continue using this product and doing the weekly treatments for the full 12 weeks and I will update this review when the treatment is done.PaulieB1
Home IPL devices for hair removal can really be hit or miss. Sometimes they work great, but suffer from slow speed or the bulbs don't last very long. Other models just don't work very well at all. With the Smoothskin Mini those problems don't see to be an issue at all and the results are great. The device itself is incredibly compact, making it very easy to manuveur and get it angled exactly how you need it to get both large and small areas of skin. It's comfortable to hold and overall the design supports an easy use. The Mini has several really amazing features that help make the entire process effortless. The first being the skin contact sensor that measures your skin tone before each light pulse, which makes sure you are using the strongest but safest light pulse for each pulse. It also sports several intensity and comfort settings to make sure that you have all the control and aren't in pain while using the device. All of this with a very quick firing light makes using the Mini effortless and incredibly quick compared to previous IPL devices I've used. The results are really great. After about 6 weeks I've seen really noticable results and because it's so easy to use is one reason I think the results will last. Smoothskin Mini IPL hair remover does what it says. Instructions are clear and easy to understand. Comes with 2 comfort modes and three intensity levels for sensitive areas and more stubborn thicker hair and an attachment for precision it comes in handy for smaller spots. It has an automatic detection for skin tone so it measure what light level is needed. I am covered in tattoos so I did try it first on a small part of a leg tattoo that could easy be fixed if it damaged the color of it but had no issues using it on them. I love the compact size but I do wish it was wireless so I could use it anywhere in a more convenient comfortable spot in my house rather then plugged in the cord is long enough but that’s just me prefer cordless. I started with my armpits and bikini area once a week as directed those spots have the thicker hair on my body I noticed the difference of less hair growth in about 3 weeks but feel like if you had more thick corse hair it will take longer, I’ve shaved my armpits less often the hair also that grows back is thinner I hope eventually I won’t have to shave at all yay! I did my legs which the hair is very thin it takes about maybe 15-20 mins to do both legs entirely I’ve seen the difference with hair growth much more in a few weeks some spots hair has not grown back at all I do rub vitamin E oil on my legs and other areas on my body about 30 mins after to soothe my skin although it’s nothing like waxing no skin irritation at all. I have had the Braun IPL PL3012 for several weeks, and I have used it 4 times, with one week between uses. I have fair/light skin (always burn without sunscreen, but can tan) and medium colored hair. The skin on my lower legs is not sensitive, but it is very sensitive on my inner thighs and bikini line and underarms, which makes shaving painful. I have not had any adverse effects or reactions to using this product. The PL3012 is relatively easy to use. The biggest challenge for me was looking away from the device when the laser was in use. For this reason, I found it easier to use single pulses (stamp mode), move the device to the next spot, and then activate another single pulse. The head does gently glide along the skin if you choose to use the glide mode. There is a slight stinging in some areas that quickly goes away, but in most places there is only a warm sensation. It is very similar to how it felt when I had laser hair removal done at a salon, but much more affordable and easier to schedule. The included booklet says it can take several uses over a few months to interrupt all the hair's growth cycles. Thus, I don't have significant results to report yet. The Braun Silk Expert Pro 3 Hair Removal System has been great to have at home. You can use this right out of the box, there is no set up required. I really liked that it comes with a razor. The directions are so easy to understand and follow. With my skin color and hair color it worked really well. I really like that when you are using this if a part of your skin or hair color isn't correct it won't work, you will see a red light. On areas you can use it the flash will go off on it's own. The flash is very bright on this. I do end up wearing sunglasses while using this. That would really be my only issue. There is a little bit of heat that the light and flashes give off. But this does not hurt at all. You can also turn down the setting on here if you don't need it so high or if you are a little bit more sensitive. This is very easy to glide over my legs and and other areas I am looking to use this on. I have been using this for a number of weeks already. First thing I really loved was the fact that it came with a pouch to put everything inside. I can take it on vacation without any worries. The light is a little bright, but it doesn’t hurt at all. It’s easy and fast to use. It took about 5 mins to go over both legs. I really like that I can use it on my armpits, face and legs. The instructions were very clear. I've been using it for 3 weeks. Once a week and I have noticed significant hair regrowth. There's a few here and there and this week was like a couple. So I can honestly say the product works. I haven't used other brands this was the first one I bought ever. So cant compare with other name brands. But, from experience sometimes you just pay more/extra because of the brand name. The product comes with warranty for peace of mind. To compare with the laser at laser clinics, well, I used to go to get it done at a laser clinic and spend a bit of money but with Covid I wasn't able to go back and get the retouch. This makes the product great value wise to compare to getting it done at a laser clinic. The price for having one to use at home outweighs the cost of going to a salon and it's money well spent as you will get that value in the first 4-6 uses. It does work does it work as good. I would say so from my experience using it around my bikini line. Just an fyi, I'm not a hairy person naturally but would still get a bit of hair down there. Not now! I also like that I use it in the privacy of my bathroom rather than going out to get it laser done. So convenience wise, superb! Haven't had a chance to see the results yet. Had done 2 treatments, no changes. Product stopped delivering flashes. It works sporadically, on and off.. Works fine the first 5 minutes and then it doesn't flash. Then decides to work next two minutes, then nothing again, frustrating. It beeps that it's ready for the flash, but when the button is pressed the flash does not happen. Not overheating either.. Would like a replacement. I want to give it a chance to work past 2 treatments. Haven't tried the face treatments at all yet. Shipping the product back tomorrow to get a replacement. I bought this less than two weeks ago and it stopped working. I used it a few times with no problems and then yesterday it started beeping and would not work. I thought it needed to cool down even though it was only on for a few minutes so I shut it down for a while. I plugged it into a different outlet and turned it on and when I tried to use it and there was no 'zap' and then it started beeping again. Yes, I passed the skin tone sensor so that was not the issue. The manual said I should call customer service, but honestly, I don't need the hassle-not for something so expensive. I returned it today at BBB with no problem. I am just going to spend my money on professional laser hair removal at my derm's office. Honestly, beware of this product. I have always had a lot of excess body and facial hair, have spent decades having IPL at the beautician’s with limited success, and have suffered the rashes and ingrown hairs from shaving and waxing since I was a teenager. I have olive skin which tans easily with dark hair. This is the first product which has actually worked. I can go weeks without shaving my underarms and legs, and months between treatments on my face and arms. I no longer have any bikini line hair at all! It’s still early days but I’ve definitely seen a reduction in hair growth. Arms pits nothing after 4 weeks, bikini 70% and legs 50 %. Did my investigations/comparisons and decided to bite the bullet and purchase, luckily had vouchers for Chrimbo that covered a lot of the cost but definitely worth it. Apart from the testimonies, etc, another reason for purchasing was that there was a decent returns window if I found that this was not suitable for me. I had another brands device that was painful to use on the more sensitive parts and the treatment window was small thus was a chore to use, but this one was a absolute dream. Treatment time is so quick and easy, and a quick wipe keeps the Prestige looking like new. The first time I used the device I was surprised at how quickly I managed to do face, underarms, bikini and legs and no sensitivity afterwards either. Hair free on legs and lady 'tasche already and almost there for underarms. Bikini line being stubborn but definitely much less hair regrowth. Almost a razor free body – hurrah. I have used it twice already. It works. This is not the first time I use IPL, my old device was purchased a few years ago and the lamp strength was close to an end. I’ve been thinking of getting a new one and this was on sale. I don’t have much body hair but there are some stubborn ones I’d like to get rid of. It’s lightweight and easy to use, no need to adjust anything, effective if your skin is not dark. The continuous mode is a time saver. So far, I can see a slower regrown. The issue is not much instruction provided so you can’t troubleshoot (and yes, I always got an error when using it, the fix is to unplug it then plug it in again). Plus, it’s better if you use it in a brighter environment. Also, you will have ingrown hair. But it seems getting better after the second treatment.Syd S

I have only completed 4 treatments, so I haven't seen results yet. That being said, during my second treatment, I burnt my leg for seemingly no reason. It was totally random, and it was the only time it ever happened. It was very painful and lasted over a week. I have no idea why it happened or hasn't happened again, but be careful I guess. It hurt really bad! FYI I am extremely pale with dark hair, so I know that isn't the problem. These photos were also taken a few days after it happened, so I imagine it was darker initially.Max
I've already given this product's recommendation to several friends because I adore it. My body hair has always been very thick. I've had to shave my legs at least every other day for years, even in the cold. Since my leg hair was so thick, wearing jeans without shaving was painful. and my underarms each day. I've been utilising the laser 1-2 times a week for 10 weeks now. My hair is not only growing lot slower now, but it is also getting much thinner. If you're reading the reviews because you're doubtful, you're not alone. Even after reading all of the positive feedback, I was sceptical that this would actually work. I'm only three weeks in and I'm already seeing results! My hair is growing back much more slowly, and there are some hairless patches. I have light skin and dark hair, so I've been doing the treatment 1-2 times a week, focusing only on stubborn areas when I do it twice a week.
