I bought the mopel TL 906 last year and only used it a couple of times . Worked great initially . It sat for while and this year 1/22 I got it out to laminate a few items . Machine will not accept the laminate and does not work . Mahcine indicates it is ready but as mentioned , does not accept laminate material . Just received this laminator. Used it yesterday, worked fine. Today I plug it in and turn it on. Ready light never appears, but then laminator shuts off completely (I assume it overheated). This is the second time this has happened; I returned the first laminator a couple of days ago. The experience is unsatisfactory. I purchased my first scotch laminator (TL901) over 8 years ago. It still works fairly well, but the reverse lever needed to be taped down because it doesn't stay on it's own. Since I use hot laminators frequently, I decided to purchase the TL906 a little over a year ago. All of a sudden it stopped working. I've tried to plug it into various outlets and it won't even turn on. I am a teacher and I use this device regularly, so I ended up buying a replacement. The second time I used the device, it was malfunctioning. There was a crease in all of my laminiations and it appears as if a wire or part has moved internally, causing the issue. I tried e-mailing customer service over a week ago to make them aware of these issues and I have not heard back from them AT ALL. I've had to return the laminator. I loved my first laminator so much and it lasted so long. very good product. I'd recommend it to my coworkers, mom, friends, and any one who would take a recommendation from me for a laminator. I bought other laminators, but they were cheap and shoddy compared with this one. get yourself one of these if you have a lot of high end laminating to do. it's a workhorse and does a very good job with little or no wrinkling, crinkling or shrinkage. well, almost none. doesn't work as well without paper inside to stiffen it. but that's an off label use, I guess.k d
Have tried this laminator on both large and small articles. Used the sheets that came with the product. Does a terrible job on standard letter size pages. They come out very wavy. Tried both the 3mm and the 5 mm settings. Makes no difference. Still wavy. However, tried smaller articles with the laminator sheets I normally use and this laminator did a satisfactory job. I gave not tried the full sheet size with my usual laminator sheets, so I don't know if the fault with the wavy results was due to inferior laminator sheets or just thwt this machine can't handle larger sheets efficiently. I am writing to review the free product I received in the mail. It was the Scotch Thermal Laminator TL902 as well as Scotch Thermal Laminating Pouches, Letter Size. I have used these both and they do a fantastic job! I am a teacher and have previously just used the laminator at school to do school projects. Now I can expand and use it for projects around the home, including artwork, certain memorabilia, crafts, and office needs! It does a great job of sealing around the edges, as I was a little weary of this because of the heat. I absolutely love Scotch Brand products and their versatility in everything I do! this laminator! It's so light and easy to use! Very quick and efficient! Great seal on the finished product. The first thing I put through was cardstock and there were no bumps or bubbles and it heated very evenly – flawless finish! MISSING A because the back or entry tray area is a little cumbersome and poorly designed/made. It's easily stuck and the "input tray guides" keep coming off track as I open and close the tray. (This is my second review, because my first one did not get saved. I asked a question, and I cannot find my review.) I have a question about the TL902 Thermal laminator that I cannot find on the Internet, Youtube, or in the manual that comes with the laminator. How do you close the input tray in order to put the laminator away? The manual says "Position the guides in the full open position before closing the tray." But it does not say how to close the tray. The tray is made out of bendable plastic, and it does not move. I am afraid of breaking it if I apply force. The manual really should state how to close it. (Your website should offer customers a way to ask questions that are not ratings or reviews.) Reviewers "Jenip" and "jackybr1" also asked how to close the tray, as it is too hard to close. They both asked four years ago, but there is still no response. Right now my laminator sits on a table, as I am unable to get it stored in the box it came in. Furthermore, the entry tray is far too short (reviewer "Bucks321") also complained about this. I laminate sheets with many small paper pieces, and without a long, level entry tray, it is difficult to feed the plastic sheets without the papers moving about. When I laminate at the FedEx store, the fancier laminators there use thick paper folders that enclose the plastic sheets and protect the "levelness" of the sheets as they are feed through. My box said it comes with two sheets, and I thought these were the two cardboard-stock feeding folders. I have owned various larger professional/office and personal/smaller laminators in the past. This is a small entry level laminator from a trusted brand that fits a standard 8"x11" sheet of paper and smaller. It works fine although 1) it takes a bit longer than others to warm up before the "ready" light illuminates, 2) it does get hot to the touch and should be a a hard, nonflammable surface and away from kids, 3) the on/off, 3mm, 5mm, and ready lights are a bit difficult to decipher but usable. This product does what it says and is a good value for an entry level laminator that will be used for a home office or periodically for crafts or other home projects. I bought a sleeve of 8"x11" pouches but you can buy a myriad of smaller sizes depending upon the size of what you are laminating. I have found it just as cost effective to buy the bigger (8"x11") pouches and cut them to size or just waste the excess rather than spend the extra money to buy size specific pouches.TMB74

I've always wanted a laminator…don't ask my why 😉 We ordered online and got it right away. Very reasonable price. When I plugged it in I kept waiting for the green light ready to come on. I didn't see it and unplugged it and waited again. I finally noticed the light was on but it very faint and it was actually ready to use. It probably only took about 4 min. to warm up instead of the 20 I waited for but you have to look closely at the light. It worked great. You need to buy small laminating pockets for things like cards.
I'm handy with tools. I set the thing up, laminated 2 sheets and it jammed. I opened it, it was misassembled, I fixed it and laminated another sheet. Then it jammed again. I picked up a sledgehammer and reduced it to tiny pieces. You deserve bankruptcy and you, Walmart, the same, because of your deal with unscrupulous sellers.
I was looking for a laminator for our office uses. I only need it to laminate items periodically. I used it just after I received it and it worked PERFECTLY. I was really intimidated to use it, but after reading the manual thoroughly, I went ahead and tried it on a Certificate that we needed laminated for office display. It worked seamlessly. All that hesitation for nothing. It comes with some free letter size pouches which is great because I wanted to try it before needing to purchase additional pouches. I was able to cut the laminated document after laminating and the seal remained on the cut side. So far so good! I’ve only used it once, but I feel very good about this purchase.

After having used cold laminating material for several years, I decided to get a hot laminator. I didn't need or want a high end unit since I only ocassionally have the need to laminate something. After looking at all the laminators on the Staples website, I decided this Scotch laminator offered some nice features. It was also on sale for less than anywhere else on the internet. Normally I just do 8 1/2 X 11 documents but since this has a 13 inch throat, I decided it was better in case I decided to do 11 X 17 documents. The laminator accomodates 3 mil and 5 mil pouches. It is quiet and heats up quickly with an indicator light to tell you when it's ready. Feed rate is not quick but it only takes about a minute to do an 8 1/2 X 11 document. The document comes out cool to the touch except for the last inch or two which is warm but not hot. Some units have 4 or more rollers which is supposed to do a better job but the 2 rollers in this unit seem to work well. Based on my doing about a dozen laminations with the unit, I would recommend it to others looking for a laminator.John S.
I bought my laminator last September 2021 before the school starts. It worked really well. It is really handy that I always bring it in school with me. I bought this product at the beginning of the school year. When I first bought it I loved it and it worked like a dream. I had so many things to laminate to get the school year started. About two months or so of using this machine, my paper started to get jammed. I tried using the auto release lever but that does not work at all. I have ended up opening the machine by unscrewing it from the bottom and sides. I have gotten multiple paper jams since then and now the little plastic knob that covered the release lever has broken off. Every now and then, I would get smooth finishes. Over this past weekend, I had many pages to laminate and one of the pages got caught and I had to pull it through. I tried laminating pages after that but all my pages came out wrinkled, so I turned the machine off. I attempted to finish my laminating job this morning but when I turned the laminator on, it started smoking. I am so upset! So far I have been able to laminate my sons flash cards and my seven year old convinced me to laminate some of his coloring pages so he could have them forever. I have never used a laminator before and this one is super simple to use. I was able to laminate at least 25 pages in less then an hour. Trust me time is of the essence when you are a homeschooling mom. This laminator heats up quickly and the only suggestion I would have is to make the tray longer so when you are laminating a larger piece or if you are laminating pieces that you have cut apart won't fall out of the pouch.Turtlekris79
I'm a teacher, and I've used this product successfully for the last 8 months 100 times, to be exact (I just ran out of my first box of pouches). Yesterday I plugged it in, ready to break into my second box of pouches, and it wouldn't turn on. So I moved it to a different outlet and tried again. It heated up really quickly, but then STARTED SMOKING out the front AND the back. I'm NOT turning it on again. So… was it built to last for only 100 pouches? What a terrible product. I've had this laminator for a little over two years, and most of that time it has been sitting on a desk undisturbed and unused in a very nice, climate-controlled office building during the pandemic. Two months ago, I turned it on and laminated 10 sheets of paper. Today I pressed the on button and… nothing. I checked the outlet it was plugged into, and the outlet was fine. The laminator just doesn't work. I have laminated a total of about 30 sheets on this expensive machine and, now that the pandemic is waning, it is out of warranty and I am out of luck. this laminator! It's so light and easy to use! Very quick and efficient! Great seal on the finished product. The first thing I put through was cardstock and there were no bumps or bubbles and it heated very evenly – flawless finish! MISSING A because the back or entry tray area is a little cumbersome and poorly designed/made. It's easily stuck and the "input tray guides" keep coming off track as I open and close the tray. (This is my second review, because my first one did not get saved. I asked a question, and I cannot find my review.) I have a question about the TL902 Thermal laminator that I cannot find on the Internet, Youtube, or in the manual that comes with the laminator. How do you close the input tray in order to put the laminator away? The manual says "Position the guides in the full open position before closing the tray." But it does not say how to close the tray. The tray is made out of bendable plastic, and it does not move. I am afraid of breaking it if I apply force. The manual really should state how to close it. (Your website should offer customers a way to ask questions that are not ratings or reviews.) Reviewers "Jenip" and "jackybr1" also asked how to close the tray, as it is too hard to close. They both asked four years ago, but there is still no response. Right now my laminator sits on a table, as I am unable to get it stored in the box it came in. Furthermore, the entry tray is far too short (reviewer "Bucks321") also complained about this. I laminate sheets with many small paper pieces, and without a long, level entry tray, it is difficult to feed the plastic sheets without the papers moving about. When I laminate at the FedEx store, the fancier laminators there use thick paper folders that enclose the plastic sheets and protect the "levelness" of the sheets as they are feed through. My box said it comes with two sheets, and I thought these were the two cardboard-stock feeding folders. I was surprised to find out that these were sample lamination sheets, and that feeding folders are too thick to use in this model.EK555
I have owned various larger professional/office and personal/smaller laminators in the past. This is a small entry level laminator from a trusted brand that fits a standard 8"x11" sheet of paper and smaller. It works fine although 1) it takes a bit longer than others to warm up before the "ready" light illuminates, 2) it does get hot to the touch and should be a a hard, nonflammable surface and away from kids, 3) the on/off, 3mm, 5mm, and ready lights are a bit difficult to decipher but usable. This product does what it says and is a good value for an entry level laminator that will be used for a home office or periodically for crafts or other home projects. I bought a sleeve of 8"x11" pouches but you can buy a myriad of smaller sizes depending upon the size of what you are laminating. I have found it just as cost effective to buy the bigger (8"x11") pouches and cut them to size or just waste the excess rather than spend the extra money to buy size specific pouches.TMB74

We used this to laminate some things the kids did to try it out. It was easy and worked well. There is no touchscreen that I could see. You flip the switches to get it to work. It comes with a bar to put on the back which works as a guide and is very easy to put in. It comes off easily too so that the laminator can be put back in the box and stored. This laminator was awesome when it worked! But after about 75-100 run throughs, it stopped working. It put out a lot of smoke then it no longer was laminating the pages properly. I’ll be returning it and possibly getting the same kind to see if this was a fluke. It gets plenty hot to the point of smoking but it didn’t seem to be an issue until that last day. I’m bummed! This classroom laminator is very easy to use. Plug it in, choose the cold or hot setting, and wait for the “Ready” light to come on and laminate away. Make sure your laminating pouches will work on the cold setting. The classroom laminator did not become excessively hot for me, but there was a slight odor on the hot setting. Enjoy!MGHy
Easy to use for laminating small posters or signs. However, have patience and insert laminating pouches separately and wait until the previous pouch exits the the unit before putting the next one in. Two pouches got stuck together and now the unit doesn't work. The rollers will not rotate because there must be something stuck on the rollers from the laminating film. I need to find a company to repair the unit. Too bad because it's a great unit to have in the classroom or at home and can't afford to buy another one.

This is not meant for frequent, heavy duty use and would be better suited for a home office, but it works great and serves it's purpose for our needs. This is a good laminator for low volume usage. It accepts 2 thicknesses of lamination pouch (not "puch" as is written on the website)… 75 microns and 125 microns. It also can take smaller sizes of document (like a photograph size). It does a good job. I wish I had ordered the one that could also do A3 sized documents 🙁Diane
