Best Home Recording Studio Package (2024 Update)

Not a beginner level program but Excellat for the novice or pro musician. many easy to use features and love the fact its all in one. Set up was not so simple its not plug in and play 🙂Kaykay

Full Disclosure: I purchased on another site. I bought it because the new iPad Pro does not have a headphone jack and I was using the iRig before, and it was the same price(other site)as the iRig Pro I/O, and it came with a mic, XLR cable, and studio headphones. I figured if it wouldn't work with the new iPad, I would use it on my windows based laptop. I did need an adaptor to run the hardware, and went with the multimedia adaptor from Apple witch has usb-c, usb, and HDMI inputs on it. The new iPad even powers the Audiobox, so I didn't even have to run a separate line for power. Just run the power through the adaptor and I'm good to go. It Worked with AmpliTube software. I haven't tried it with the *FREE* Capture Duo software. My biggest gripe was I couldn't figure out how to get the Bluetooth headphones to work for monitoring. So, I had to use some studio headphones direct into the Audiobox. So I think the other iOS user must have missed something. If you are running an iOS device and are looking for an interface, this one will work.Mevogt

I can't fault the equipment in this package. I've only had it a week but the quality of the hardware looks to be good. Headohones are comfortable and the interface is fine. The only thing I would fault is the lack of intstructions, it took me quite a long time and 4 YouTube tutorials before I got everything set up and working. The software is massive, I have only scratched the surface with what it can do, and every time I want to do something new it's back to searching YouTube for tutorials. The RODE NT1 has long been a mainstay for any recording studio. This was my chance to get one and I have to say it's reputation has not been overstated. I have and have worked with many microphones in the last 50 years and the RODE NT1 has just become my all around "go to" mic. From it's almost noiseless "floor" (4.5) to it's crystal clear warm overtones, this microphone is pure joy to work with and at an affordable price. Top that off with RODE's 10 year manufacturer's warranty and you'll be hard pressed to find a better deal. I couldn't. Thank you Sam Ash for being close by and having my order in record time. Note the pop filter is no longer the same steel one pictured in the product photos, RODE uses a more standard circular mesh filter compared to the steel mesh. Nonetheless, still works amazingly and for the price/bundle + quality for a starting XLR set, it’s fantastic. Sounds clear, professional, there’s a reason the NT1 has been popular for so long now. Only gripe I have is the USB power – using my M1 iMac (which has only USB-C), even using a dongle in the thunderbolt port didn’t seem to power the mic enough which resulted in a LOT of crackling. Had to buy a USB-C cable capable of 100W and plugged in directly to my iMac, solved the issue. If you’re a Mac user, I recommend swapping the cable unless you have a USB type-A port capable of properly powering this mic. However, that’s just my experience, your experience may differ especially if you’re using PC, which I can’t vouch for. Overall though, highly satisfied.WhoelsebutCoop

Purchased a month ago. Came w/everything I needed to get started. Easy to understand. The setup was quick and easy. I'm new to audio engineering. Currently in school and needed equipment to be able to work at home. PreSonus was recommended by a friend. Checked it out for myself and made the purchase. I'm very glad I did. I've been recording assignments for school as well as recording vocals at home and sending to independent artists for their music projects. During this pandemic, we have remain apart so having, learning and using the Audiobox USB 96 Studio Bundle has not only increased my educational experience but has allowed me to record for others independently and record for myself as well. This is a m-audio air 192/4 complete vocal studio production package. When I got this I knew absolutely nothing about it. I just thought my husband would really enjoy it because he likes to play the drums and he has a friend who comes over and plays guitar. I thought they may enjoy being able to also sing with a professional type quality. I thought you just plugged it in. If you are like me and do not know much about this type of thing, I strongly encourage you to do as much research as you can before you purchase something like this. That's why I hope to include as much info as I can here. I'll start with your box contents. This setup includes the air 192/4, nova black microphone, XLR microphone cable, microphone shock mount, microphone windscreen, microphone pouch comma HDH40 headphones, USB-C to USB-C cable, USB-C to USB-A cable, software download cards, user guide, safety and warranty manual. Here is where my lack of knowledge came in. I did not realize I needed to connect this to a computer. Some of you probably think im pretty stupid. Maybe that is common sense for someone who is more knowledgeable about this type of thing but I know there's probably a few people, like myself, that may not realize this and just think they're getting something cool for someone they care about. I'm not a very tech savvy person and the only computer I have was not able to do what I needed it to as it is old and has no storage left on it. As I've mentioned I'm not useful in any area of technology. So here's what you'll need to be able to do with your computer. You'll need to register your product and create an account that would allow you to download the latest software and any drivers that you may need for your product. Here you will also be able to find the system requirements and any other helpful information. You can also find support here to help you. Before you can connect your computer you must install the drivers. The user manual will guide you on how to download the latest operating system. The user guide also has a diagram showing how to connect your product. Other than a computer, you will also need powered monitors that are not included in the product package. We have an amp. We connected it to our amp and could not get any sound from the microphone. I don't know if it was an error on our part, or if it just wasn't compatible. My advice here would be to research, contact the help center listed in the manual, or ask someone knowledgeable in this type of area for help. The user's guide also gives the details on the features of this product, as well as information on care instructions for the microphone. This product also comes with a one-year warranty that will cover the product as long as the product has been used properly.I believe this to be a quality product. I have been continuing my research the best I can. There are many informational videos on this product as well as video reviews. I am sorry I cannot give you better information on this item. I just assumed that it was as easy as just plugging it in. That's my fault though not the product or its manufacturers fault. I definitely learned my lesson. I wanted something for a podcast I’m working on starting and had the opportunity of trying this. The challenge was to produce my podcast solely from my 2020 iPad Pro. While this model is not class compliant with Windows, it is with OS X, so I tried it with my iPad and I’m happy to report it was a success. The M-Audio 192/4 even comes with the USB-C cable required to connect to the 2020 iPad Pro or any Apple device that utilizes USB-C. The M-Audio 192/4 connects via USB-C too. It also comes with a USB to USB-C cable in case your device doesn’t have USB-C. No extra software or drivers required: it works flawlessly with GarageBand. You can record vocals as well as a guitar on separate channels. The included microphone and headphones are good enough to boot, but you can always upgrade if you feel the need to. The sound quality is great for the value and perfect for my needs. I would suggest however if you’re going to use this with the iPad, it would be ideal to use it with the Magic Keyboard for the extra port in order to maintain a full charge and deliver enough power while using. This kit is great for anyone who wants mobility for DJing, recording music or podcasts and is affordable and high quality. This is a great system that's compact enough to fit on the edge of the bookshelf in front of my computer screen (see pictures). I've been an analog guy until now. This will be a good upgrade to the few YT guitar / vocal videos I occasionally make. The mic is good, the headphones are pretty close to rivaling my high-end gaming phones and the components are all quality and solid. The mixer case is metal. I've got the mic mounted to a XLR to XLR wired gooseneck (that does not come with the package) but I put the dampening cage on the mic for the picture. To give you a perspective on how much software "comes with" (much of it via download and the provided authorization codes), it took me five hours to download and install it all this morning. This would be good for a blogger. I just sent for a 25-key midi controller / keyboard. It'll take me months to learn even most of what this is capable of with all of that software. I bought this recording set-up to record and play back my practice sessions. The package included everything that I required to record and playback multiple tracks. The system is so much more capable than what I am using it for. It is nice in that it has presets that allow me to record multiple band configurations without being a sound engineer, but also would allow someone with the right knowledge to configure the inputs to their hearts desire. I am very satisfied with this equipment's capabilities. I feel like I bought quite a lot of equipment for not much cash. Love the music I can create with it.Eric P.

Sound: Professional sounds right out of the box. The condenser mic is pretty sweet, not that sexy but effective and functional. I’ve recorded vocal and guitar tracks with nice results Features: I like the “plug and play” aspect of this package. I had no issues installing but I did heed the advice and made sure my OS was up to date. I had been recording guitar though my amp. That changed when I really began tweaking the Ampire effect and the stomp pedals that come with it. I plug directly into the interface and record now.There are plenty of effects to get you started with some pro-sounding equipment. You’d need a lot more to open a studio but you could produce a quality demo with this with a little effort. Ease of Use: Pretty intuitive. Hover your mouse over just about anything and it tells you what it does. Combine that with the hundreds of free tutorials online and you can find an answer to just about any question. Quality: Solid build, I had an audio box given to me about 6 years ago. That thing went through the wringer and still works. I gave it to my daughter and she is still using it. Value: Worth ever penny. I’d probably give a 20% tip if this were a restaurant transaction. Manufacturer Support: I’ve never dealt with presonus support. I haven’t had to yet. The Wow Factor: I really like Studio One. I’ve worked with several other DAW’s, so far this is my favorite. Overall: It’s a great little package for the money and you can start recording as soon as it’s installed. The 4.5 studio monitors deliver a nice clean sound. The mic provides a crisp clear recording so that you can play with all of the effects that are included in the package. If you’re already into recording or just getting started, this is a great package. I did get some quality headphones to go with it, but that was really all it lacked.John

Overall: I have used a couple of other DAWs over the years but mostly stuck to Pro Tools. I thought that was the very thing because it sounds good and has lots of cool tricks.And then I discovered StudioOne. This is probably the best DAW that I have used to date. It's not flashy, it does the same things that other DAWs do, but…stay with me here…it's easy to use. Sure there are some tricks that you will need to learn and some basically knowledge of recording software will help, but this thing is great. If you want to see the mixer, click "Mix" and it appears. Click it again and it goes away. It's that simple. There are lots of plugins and yes, you can use more than one at a time. Pres on us had the forethought to add a bunch of very useful plugins and they work nicely. I use the word "intuitive" often when referring to this DAW. It does the job, right out of the box.The monitors are pretty nice. They sound good and do what they are supposed to do.The condenser is okay. It seems to sound pretty good but I have other microphones that I would rather use. This one may find its place but I haven't had a chance to really try it out yet. A word of caution, StudioOne is a pretty big download. Make sure you have the storage on your computer and you might want to have an external hard drive ready to save your projects.I downloaded the app for IPad but haven't used it yet. Looks nice though.Only one problem. A few of the addons that are included with the bundle give me a message about an invalid product key when I try to install them. Contacted Presonus but it's Saturday and they aren't in. I expect to hear back from them soon.Nice, solid interface. Nice monitors. Okay condenser. Amazing DAW. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product. If it were stolen I would hunt down the person responsible and release massive amounts of hatred and cess-ridden filth upon them. I bought this mic a few weeks ago and I was able to use it at work for some podcasting. The shock mount slides over the mic easily and locks in place. I attached the shock mount to a Proline Desk Boom mic stand, plugged the mic, connected it to a mixer, and then connected it to a Tascam recorder. Off in running in about 5 minutes. I love that the mic comes with a case for transport. The foam protects the mic and shock mount and allows me to transport the mic without having to worry about moisture or having the mic battered around in the car. I looked at some of the audio samples today and I great great audio at a small price.Jonathan

We run Shure SM7b and Electrovoice Re20. For grand piano, this lowe cost unit exceeds them both. We were surprised. Granted, you can get better performance from other much higher priced units but for a budget unit, the MXL 770 is remarkable. It even comes with a case and shock mount. And B&H gives free shipping. I've been making music using my iPhone for about a year now, when I started recording vocals I was only using the headphones provided with my phone to record and monitor myself. The Shure MOTIV M5 has amazing recording capabilities and the fact it plugs straight into my phone is one of the best features. The extra EQ settings are great too since I also record an acoustic guitar. I also love quality of the headphones and the length of the wire. As a researcher who has peers that cannot always come to the field, this mic has helped bring the field to my peers. This makes for better understanding of the environments we are working in, the people we are working with, and improves the quality of our thinking as we develop protocols to prevent occupational injuries. The gear is rugged enough for sugarcane fields and gold mines in Nicaragua, so likely it is rugged enough for just about any setting. Great sound, easy to use. MV88 leaves no chance for the recording quality of the Iphone's built-in microphone. The embarrassment of the built-in microphones is an automatic adjustment of the sound level, whereas for MV88 the sensitivity is adjustable and it does not "jump" during the recording. The MV88 is incredibly easy to use, so you dont need to spend too much time installing and configuring it, instead of enjoying the great time. After a little testing and comparing the audio recorded on the internal microphone of my iPhone and MV88, I realized that with the new microphone I would be able to catch every breath with maximum clarity. MV88, of course, did everything necessary to record the sound of my video, but at the same time I got some important lessons for myself that I want to share with you. Rule number 1: activate the flight mode in your Iphone Each of you have heard before a strange electronic impulse that appears when the phone is next to the speaker. At the moment when the mobile device receives and transmits data, it can create radio frequency interference. Any microphone connected to the phone will be susceptible to such an influence and the creator of sound defects on your recordings. If you activate the flight mode in your Iphone, you can completely avoid this problem. Rule number 2: I am sure that you have a suitable windscreen. MV88 comes with its own windshield and application, which has wind suppression, but if you plan to record in particularly windy places, you should definitely consider buying deadcat. This special accessory helps many professionals and helps block any gusts of wind on your recording. Rule number 3: check the compatibility of the Iphone protective cover. The MV88 is attached directly to your Iphone. Many protective covers are not adapted to use an additional microphone. In any case, just remove it and the problem disappeared, but if you are very worried about protecting your own device, then the tick is that the cover will be adapted to connect the MV88.pacificpim

This Mic looks amazing in the box and reviews are al positive, so placed an order. Arrived, looks so nice and heavy, well presented, but strange harmonic sound after 5 minutes use then muffled recordings after that, so returned as faulty. This is a fantastic bundle over-all, with a few nitpicks. First, the good stuff-The microphone itself is fantastic. It sounds great (I am using this for voice-over work as well as singing in my home studio), and the build quality is very impressive (solid brass body). I have used microphones that cost as much as $3,000 and while this mic doesn't sound like that, it sounds VERY CLOSE for a heck of a lot less money. The reflection filter works as advertised, and it significantly reduced the "room tone" in my recordings (I am tracking in an apartment). The shock mount and pop filter are first rate (again, great VALUE). The only things that I didn't like are that the cable is basically a throw-away or a spare because it seems like a generic cable that they just threw in (that's OK, I have good cables already). Also, the actual switches on the mic seem a little cheap. This is not that big of a deal, since once you set them, you don't really need to change them, but I thought it was worth noting. Over-all, I am VERY happy with the bundle and it arrived quickly and well packaged (thanks B&H!).Ken

This is a good low-cost entry-level package that works GREAT! I purchased this package specifically for the RF-X reflection filter but ended up using the microphone that came with it as well. It works perfectly in the small space I use to record narration. I didn't want to spend a ton of money so I decided to give this package a go. It definitely reduces The large-diaphragm condenser microphone really seems to cut out noise/rumbling. But most importantly the reflection filter helped reduce the ambient noise coming from various sources (a/c, ceiling fan, etc). It is small enough to take with me if I need to be mobile as well (I did that recently!). I feel like this package is definitely worth the cost. I am very happy with this product and would recommend it.Richey

Simple to set up and use with decent sound quality. A great product for the money. I did need some time to go the Behringer site and get the drivers and such. I can't say I hear much, if any difference among the preamp settings, but I am just recording one speaking voice without much variation.4398
