Best Home Remedy For Fleas On Cats (2024 Update)

I previously purchased this product and it works great. I have 3 cats and the smell being essential Oils did not phase them. I did not put it directly on the cats but sprayed my carpets etc and it did not bother them and the fleas do not like it. They hibernate into my flea traps which are excellent as well. The price is cheaper then anywhere I have seen as well. I am new to this site but enjoy checking in and seeing what is new.L.T.

Well I can tell you that it has other uses. I use this in my garage and spray it around my cars. I know that these ingredients we repel rodents as well as spiders. Living in a rural area I have a problem with squirrels nesting under my car hood and chewing the wires. This spray helps to repel them because rodents do not like peppermint as well as the other ingredients. What I also like about this spray is the ingredients are natural not poisonous. I have sprayed it around the perimeter of my property as well as inside my screened in patio where my cats like to hang out. I am just trying to repel all the fleas and ticks before they become a problem. Since the ingredients are natural I would not hesitate to spray on the cats if necessary. I would rather give them this then put those pesticide topicals on them or feed them flea pills. The cats don’t seem to mind the smell either because they still stay on the porch after I spray it. I also feel better about the product being natural because when it seeps in the ground it will not to contaminate my well. All you smell is peppermint and clove. I've used this product for almost 3 weeks. And she's got more fleas now than she did to begin with. I gave her a bath and there were what looked like hundreds of fleas in the water. While she was in the water I picked quite a few off of her by hand. Two or three times a week, I get her down and pick them off. It says this product repels, but it really seems like it attracts them! She scratches all the time! And has running sores. I sure hope this stuff is guaranteed!!! Do not give to small dogs especially non spayed females In 2020 gave our 2 small dogs flea away within a month the smallest dog developed swelling and lumps in her mamory gland which quickly developed into cancerous tumor she died within 2mos. The other dog developed the same swelling but it progressed very slowly she now has the same type of growth on her we don't know how long she will live. It can't just be a coincidence.Gayle Erickson

These did not help my dogs when it came to ticks. My dogs live on our farm, so we have no fleas. They were already on a monthly prescription heartworm medication, and have always tested negative. To be fair, I cannot say whether or not this product was helpful for mosquitoes. I cannot say I do, or do not, recommend due to my experience.Deborah

Beat stuff ever! We have three cats and after one went outside she got fleas and they quickly spread to her sisters. We tried chemical shampoo, but that made one of our cats foam at the mouth. Next we tried dawn, but getting three cats into the tub for a rinse left us with lots of scratches and scared cats. After doing a lot of research we came upon this and let me tell you it did the trick. Because two of the three cats sleep on my daughters bed we had to treat her bed as well as the cats. This stuff is the one and only thing we have found that works. The kitty who had them the worst has a flea collar to help but the other two have been treated with this and a flea comb. We have been using it for about two weeks now every other day with the flea comb, a bowl of hot water with dawn to clean the comb and a vacuum after to catch any who may have gotten away and two of the three cats were flea free today! My roommate used your product on my kitten, he has been extremely sick and lethargic all day. I used Dawn dish soap to wash off what I could of your product. I will hold him close to me all night and keep praying he doesn't die.

.So I bought this spray along with the natural care flea and tick shampoo. my poor pups had their first experience with fleas, i didnt know why they were scratching so much (it was also my first experience for fleas) but once i looked through one of my pups fur, i immediately saw three fleas. i went straight to walmart, got my products and treated my pups. i prepared a warm bath, dunked them both into the water, lathered them up really good, let it sit for 6 minutes and i rinsed them. in the bath water, i saw the fleas and i also saw a couple ticks that i didnt know they had lol. We had a terrible flea problem this year. Spent 5-6 months treating our cats with other products that are supposed to have an advantage against fleas, products that are on the front line of flea protection. Those products didn't work. The fleas never completely disappeared, even though we treated the cats monthly, combed them daily, and scrubbed our house from top to bottom. Our vet recommended Cheristin and it worked right away. Within a day there were no fleas on the cats and they have not returned after only one treatment. Don't waste your time with the better known, older products. Our vet said that fleas have grown resistant to the insecticide in those brands. Cheristin has a different chemical than the others. Worth every penny!Flea free at last

I have cats that are affected year round by fleas (Florida’s warm weather), but no OTC flea products have worked. I've tried dozens of OTC products…application treatments, collars, baths, dips, sprays, etc. I've tried countless home remedies. Absolutely NOTHING works. The cost to get them on prescription medication is just too high right now for me (office visit, blood tests, heart worm tests, feline leukemia tests, then the over-inflated cost of the flea product itself…just can't do that on a regular basis). The “best” product I found was Advantage II which gave minimal results for a few days and then I'd be reapplying or trying something else. I found CHERISTIN FOR CATS and decided to buy a pack from Chewy online, because the majority of the reviews were so positive. Best thing I have done!! Within 30 minutes of application I noticed fleas trying to escape my cats fur. Within a couple of hours my cats were napping peacefully, instead of scratching. My one cat had really torn herself up and was badly scratched up and missing fur from scratching so much. By the second application one month later the scabs were almost healed and the fur was starting to grow back. My other cat was losing fur on his belly….by the second application he was already furry again. A couple of monthly applications and my cats are healed up, fur is back to normal, they are SO MUCH HAPPIER–playing all of the time instead of suffering. We just got a new kitten from someone who lives on a farm. Even though she was never outside, they had dogs who were. When we got her we were told she was already treated for fleas but she had them all over her. They were big and she was so uncomfortable. After reading the reviews for this medication I decided to try it. We applied it around 3pm and by 8pm every flea was dead. If you don't want bugs eating your clothes you put them in a CEDAR closet. Ce DS ar wood has oil, cinnamon oil and clove oil are also natural bug deterrents. Oatmeal is a skin helper. This shampoo is like water because it is made of oils mixed in water to help you disperse it along your pets hair. It leaves a beautiful smell. The lather everyone wants to see is what irritates your animals skin and dries it out. Dogs have allergies to grass and pollen as well as bugs. The oatmeal will help with that and having oils as the other ingredients helps too. Just like a human. The drier your skin the more you itch. Don't freak out over the lack of lather. Start at the head and work your way down. Comb it through with your fingers. It won't hurt the animal if you aren't a good rinser like it does with regular shampoo. I have a dog who I got from a woman who did not treat him great. He came flea ridden, and I tried other flea shampoos and nothing worked well. This homeopathic remedy has helped tremendously with fleas in the warm state of Florida. I thought it was just to help with flea itching, etc., but it is keeping the fleas away. I am stunned. I have been trying to find a product to use on my Goldendoodle that keeps the mosquitos away. I let him out and he would stop what seemed like every minute an flip out trying to bit something on him. I already have him on a file and tick pill and dealing with a lot of hair I did not wont to mess with the liquid on the back of the neck trying to get it onto the skin. This product is easy to use and does not smell completely terrible. I'm a professional dog groomer who is well known for being "holistic". I wasted so much money over the years trying to find the one flea shampoo and spray that would eliminate fleas safely and not put a pet's health in danger. I found "Vet's Best Spray On Flea Shampoo" and "Flea Tick Spray" at a small holistic food store. I twisted the lid off, gave it a sniff, and put it immediately in my basket. This stuff smells so good, if you like that cinnamon spice scent. There are no offensive fumes that burn the pets eyes. I was so happy when I found the product to actually work. I use the spray on shampoo first. Once the groom is complete I use the spray. Mosquitoes are bad in the south and this product uses essential oils to repel them. Perfect for before walks on both me and the dog! This product kills fleas on contact. It does not repel fleas. . It's pretty important when I'm getting paid to de flea a dog that I do it right and most importantly, do it safely. I found pesticide products have horrible side effects such as vomiting, loose stool, and even neurological side effects. I like that I can use this product on my client's dogs and feel confidant that it will not only work, but it wont put me out of a job by hurting a dog! Trust me you should get both the spray on shampoo and the spray for a full arsenal defense against fleas and mosquitoes! Last but not least I'd like to add that it's rare to find a flea product that works on cats that is safe to use. Cats are so sensitive to flea products, and they are the worst to get fleas. I LOVE this stuff! A little goes a long way and it works really well, it’s a little expensive but if you’re lucky you can buy it cheaper on eBay (which is what I did) now as for the smell, yeeees it is a wee bit strong when you spray it, mostly smells like toothpaste (according to my kids) I think it’s got a minty-anise smell. They don’t smell like it after they’ve been bathed but I also use conditioner on them after the flea bath because they have pretty dense/rough fur. Oh and I do love the fact it’s a spray instead of a regular pour out liquid, it makes it MUCH easier for me to hold and spray/scrub than trying to hold and soap them up! Granted my dogs are both in the 3-5 lbs range. So I would definitely recommend for small dogs, I think it might be more of a pain (literally) to have to spray down a big dog.emily.m

Our cat, our kitten, was just laying on the ground and frothing on the mouth after we gave her a treatment with this. We followed all the directions as far as age and weight requirement. The reason I gave them two stars as they do have a 24 hour hotline you can call with questions. And they did follow up on my cat. This product is horrible. I put it on my two cats. They reacted like the product burned them. Their skin did not show signs of burning, thankfully, but when I described the cats' reactions to this flea treatment to the ER vet on the phone she said mentioned that it must have felt like it was burning them. Initially, I just thought the substance was cold and the cats were reacting to that, but the cats seems agitated for awhile after I applied it. Additionally, the smell is HORRIBLE! Very, very strong chemical smell. My youngest cat vomited. Previously I used Revolution Plus (Rx only) and the cats did not react like this and it did not smell at all. I spoke with my cat's vet and she recommended OTC flea treatments, Frontline and Advantage. Then she mentioned that they use Activyl at the vet. So I think I will stick with Activyl for now.Carmen

This is the best flea treatment for cats! I have several cats(indoor and outdoor) and have used every flea treatment on the market. The active ingredient-fipronil- is what my vet recommended I use for my cats and kittens. I have tried numerous other flea treatments with the exactly the same % of fipronil and this brand is by far just as good if not better than other treatments that cost 3 times as much. My cats have never had any negative reaction or problem, no flea infestation, and it is safe to use on kittens.hellokittyrocks

I have used the collars on my 4 cats after using your all in one flea remedy, I am constantly washing or treating bedding and carpets, have put out flea traps and diatomaceous earth, and have sprayed outside with nematodes that eat fleas…..I have also closed off the outside cat enclosure until the fleas are gone…..even though the traps are now catching very few fleas, the cats are still infested and are miserable. I comb them constantly for fleas, so I still see adults and new fleas, so I can see that the all in one flea remedy is not working…..things seem worse on the cats than before I started. I have just resorted to ordering Seresto collars which I did not want to do, because of toxicity, but I don't have a choice at this stage. I will have to feed them zeolite to help with toxins until the fleas are gone and then I will remove the collars for winter. Can I return the products for a refund? So, this stuff is basically diatomaceous earth in a fancier bottle and with some rosemary and lemon scent, priced WAY above what some plain DE would cost you at the hardware store. (You can get a 5lb bag for the cost of one canister of this). However, I purchased it knowing that, but because I needed to buy something else to get free shipping and I needed DE anyway. The point is, it WORKS. And, the canister this stuff comes in, coupled with the pleasant smell, does make it much easier to use than say the 5lb bag of DE at the hardware store would be. I purchased this along with Herbal Defense Spray and Herbal Defense Shampoo & Conditioner from All Natural Pet, and I've been very happy with the results. About three months or so ago, I was dealing with a mild flea problem that just would not away. It wasn't a severe problem, yet, but I obviously needed to nip it in the bud before it became one. It was to the point where I would find a flea or two on the dog every time I checked. I tried the nasty chemical spot-ons, and not only did they NOT work at ALL, they made our poor Jack Russell Terrier so sick I actually had to rush her to the emergency vet one night because she wouldn't stop throwing up! This seems apparently useless. Bought it because roommate's cat brought fleas into the apartment and into my kitten. Got this spray for our furniture and carpets and to treat her. I had a living flea on the comb and sprayed it with this spray and it didn't phase the flea in the slightest.Elew

Somewhat helpful for a natural flea deterrent. We give her Comfortis and bathed her and used this spray. We used Diatomaceous earth inside and outside. The fleas are almost gone. But we still find a few very small ones. Fleas are bad this year. I fostered for 15 years and specialized in bottle babies and never had the problems with fleas like now. Out cat is indoor but we let her go on the patio.JoJo L

This stuff is outstanding. You spray it on your dog, or your home furnishings anywhere really. And you see the effects immediately. The fleas evacuate the area or pet and then die quickly. Its all natural nontoxic made from essential oils and will not negatively effect the health of anyone or anything that comes in contact with the products. There are 3 or 4 different fragrances to choose from that are not overwhelming and disapate pretty quickly but not in efficiency. The Skin Tonic helps my dogs with skin issues such as hot spots, allergies and welping blowing coat irritation. We have 2 adult dogs and 3 juveniles that are their offspring and have used their products since before they became parents, while they were expecting and even after she had her one and only litter.2 years and we have never been disappointed or unsatisfied with ANY OF THEIR PRODUCTS. Beyond impressed!!! I live in an apartment building with neighbors who have indoor/outdoor cats so naturally at the start of fall every year my apartment gets infested. Ive tried salt, baking soda, dawn dish soap in bowls and on my cat (she is strictly indoor), pesticides, bombing the house, flea baths, collars, and oral/topical flea repellents. None of which comes close to Wondercide. The cedarwood is kinda strong but within 2 minutes the fleas on my cat were dying. Im sure everywhere else in the apartment as well but I could only see them on my cat. I love that theres no harsh chemicals too! This stuff is an absolute must for pet owners!!!Christina Jones

I really wanted to like this and have it work, but it really just didn’t do it. I have a very small raised patio on the side of my new house that’s protected from direct sun and gets a nice breeze. I love sitting out there. But noticed little mosquitoes and flying insects seem to like it too. The bottle says how much it will cover and I probably only have 1/4 of that area. But I figured I’d use half and see how it works. I felt like it worked the first 30 minutes after I used it, but I had to leave the house and do stuff. The next day when I went outside, there were mosquitoes and bugs on me within minutes. They never went away. So yesterday (2 weeks after first attempt) I sprayed the other half all over the grass, patio etc….completely drenched the area. 20 minutes later I couldn’t even sit outside anymore from all the annoying bugs. I wish it were a different review and story, believe me, but the reality for me is that this $40 bottle didn’t change a single thing as far as the bugs go.Deadbolthead

Our vet’s office suggested we not buy over-the-counter flea control, and I thought it would surely be fine for our new little kittens. Unfortunately, that’s not the case and they are rarely outside. They were rescued, so they came with fleas. I hoped the bath and treatment would knock it out, but 20 days later I found another flea on one of them. It said to wait 30 days, but I couldn’t get the flea off, so I gave him the next round. And 24 hours later, still a flea. Prescription treatment it is.Farmgirl27

Applied this product twice in "7 weeks" on my 6 "indoor" cats and found it to be slightly effective for only 2-3 weeks after each application. Then I tried another "over the counter" brand without results too. My cats were miserable… so I broke down, went to my Vet and bought a brand (Advntg +II) that worked. I've had a multiple-cat home for decades and these pharma controlled products are way OVERpriced and non effective anymore. Apparently the OTC's are inferior and can also be timed out to last only 2 weeks !! So I'd recommend skipping the (non-heartworm prevention type) "store-boughts" and head straight to your Vet from now on. After battling flea comb-outs and vinegar wipe downs all summer while my poor cats lived on top of every piece of furniture in the house they could get jump to … I've started a "flea tip jar" for happy cats next spring !! … sighStrider 9s Mom

Our cat "Sam" doesn't seem to mind having the Sentry applied onto her back at all. She doesn't have fleas, ticks or lice. She is an outdoor cat that is constantly in the woods on our property and under the decking of our pool where there are all kinds of critters. She's bug free and loving life! This says to use once every seven days until controlled. You spray the entire animal avoiding the eyes and mouth. It does kill fleas on contact but it says do not wash off. It is supposed to kill flea eggs too but it doesn't my pet has fleas back within 2 days of using!! Very disappointed with thisheather.f

I could see the fleas falling off and dying it works quick. I didnt like that it kills the nits but they dont fall off so I had to bath my fur boy twice and will use it again to make sure they are all gone Great productRosemary

The first thing you notice is its faint but pleasant smell. The dog doesn't mind it when sprayed on its bedding nor when sprayed on her after her baths. Not sticky, doesn't appear to stain. Good stuff!fraly_3713
