Okay! I have been using hot rollers for over ten years (my mom taught me to roll my hair if that's any indication). I bought this exact set back in college, and I felt compelled to leave a review as technically these are the only hot rollers I've ever owned, and I hope someone else can benefit from this review. They have seen many places and many years. They heat up pretty quickly, but I always give it five to ten minutes just to be safe (I like mine to be HOT because my hair is fine and has a mind of its own sometimes). Yes, they use the pins and not the clamps, but I have had problems in the past when I used to borrow hot rollers with the clips leaving dents in my freshly rolled hair! If you have the same issue, pins are the way to go. It might feel a bit tight, but you know they aren't going anywhere. I wait until they are completely cooled before taking out and because my hair is thin, I hit it with hairspray BEFORE I take them out, then hit it again after I've adjusted the curls to my liking. I live in the South, so heat and hairspray to keep curls from falling in high humidity is a must. The plastic cover of mine is cracked, and they look like they've been through the wringer, but I get compliments on my hair almost every time I use them, and they're hands-free for when I want style but don't have 30 minutes to spend focused specifically on my hair. Still kickin' after 7 years, I'll will probably buy the same ones when these finally kick the bucket 🙂Crim
Worst hot rollers ever! I needed a new set and thought I would go the inexpensive route and try these rather than replace my steam roller set I had used for years. The only thing positive about these is they do heat up fast. But, they burn your fingers no matter how u try to roll them, then they burn your head. I left them in until cool, and got very little volume and no curl. I used the same large and small roller set I used with my steam rollers, so I know how to use rollers for my hairstyle. Unfortunately, I was too late to return them by the time I used them due to being ill. Do not buy! I have owned 2 sets of the ORIGINAL Remington TRAVEL Hot 10 roller set for over 6 years and absolutely LOVED them. It had the METAL bottom that the curlers sat on inside the case which heated the rollers very quickly (within 5 to 7 minutes). The new ones look the same but do not have the metal bottom they have a plastic bottom that NEVER gets hot so consequently nor do the rollers. I was told by the Remington customer service that "the plastic is over the metal to protect consumers from putting their fingers on the hot metal". I said "but the heat is not transferring. Why don't you put a plastic screen that is full of holes to let the heat come through to heat up the rollers? " Well guess what… when I went to return the new rollers I noticed that Remington did sell a large set of rollers that did have the plastic screen with the holes! They obviously know that there is a heating problem with the newly designed travel sets but they are making no attempt to pull these defective roller sets off the retailers shelves and replacing the defective ones. I gave the 2 new sets over 30 minutes each using different wall receptacles and they never did heat up enough to put in my hair . Very disappointed because the older ones were GREAT!Very Disappointed
I ordered a second set of these curlers because there weren't enough rollers in one set for my whole head. I do have somewhat thick and long hair, but not much more than average. I would think most people would need two sets unless their hair is very fine and short. I was also not very pleased with the wire clips that are meant to hold the rollers in. They kept shooting off across the bathroom. I use those plastic claw clips on mine that I got at the Dollar General. That works much better. I do really like the case these rollers come in. Others I've used in the past had hard plastic cases that always seemed to crack and break, letting cool air in and making them work less efficiently. This case is fabric and soft vinyl, and it seals tightly. The case is also very small, so it takes up less space on the counter. What I REALLY like is how well these rollers work. If they are pinned tightly on the head and allowed to stay in long enough to cool, they curl really well. My hair is thick, fine, and very straight. It's really hard to curl and to stay curled, especially when it's humid as it has been where I live. These curlers set my hair very firmly and the curls stayed all day. I have fine limp hair and was excited to try Conair’s Travel Hairsetter with Jumbo Rollers to get more volume and also curl my hair. These rollers are great and I love that they heat up quickly in around 2 minutes. I apply by first brushing my hair, then sectioning my hair into 5 sections with 2 on each side and one in back and securing with clips into place, then leaving them on for 10 minutes and then unrolling them. They are jumbo sized in that they are 1.5 inches big so I get big volume if that’s what I’m going for or I get big voluminous curls if it is that. If I’m going for volume I brush my hair out and if I’m going for curls I gently comb over a couple times. I wish that this set had 6 rollers so I could fit two in front and back but it comes with 5 so need to manage to fit all hair into one curler which is only reason I take off a star because feel it should have 6 to equally divide and fit hair into sections accordingly. They are great for traveling though and I recently traveled and they are so compact they easily fit in my suitcase and did not take up a lot of room. I got these with my rouge reward- super happy TY Sephora! So let me start my review by saying that I have fine shoulder length hair – I use all the rollers when I use them – they give great volume and lift and I rarely ever see any hair on the rollers when I remove them – the velvet wrapper is super soft so there’s no snags! They heat up super fast within a few minutes and get quite hot even on the lowest setting! Sometimes it’s almost too hot against my head so then I have to wait for it to cool down even when it’s only been plugged in three minutes that’s how fast they heat up. The only negative I would say for me personally because I have fine hair is that they are extremely heavy I feel like if I move my head to the left or right front or back they would wobble and fall out maybe I have to make sure I stay upright – but I’m sure somebody with the care or medium or longer hair this would not be an issue of weight. I have lost hair using Velcro rollers they are a nightmare on fine hair- I’ve also lost strands using magnetic rollers (the kind you roll when wet) but with these rarely have I seen even one strand of hair on a roller- most all the times I have use these and I remove them there’s no strands of hair snagging on the rollers and that for me makes these a win!! I took off one starsimply because of the weight- which again probably only affects me because I have fine hair but I wish that these were a little bit more light weight. My husband bought me these for Christmas. I was so exited to use them. You def get a little volume but not so much curl. I got extra 1” smaller ones and those are good for maybe 15 minutes. I’ve tried these multiple ways with various different products and no such luck. The clips are horrible! The clips are bulky and get caught on each other, regardless of how you section the hair. You’ll need more curlers if you have a lot of hair for sure. I have fine hair and tried texture sprays, mouses, hairspray and no luck. I’ve had better luck with the Conairs than this.Nikki

I used hot rollers in the 80’s with no problems on long hair and got long lasting curls. After years of having short hair and letting it grow out during Covid., I thought hot rollers would be faster than a curling iron. These rollers get so hot, even the end edges you’re suppose to hold get so hot it’s almost impossible to pick them up. Also nothing to keep the hair on the curler for the first few wraps without attempting to touch the curler. The curls did not last as long as my curling iron curls. I took it back. So I'm really liking these A couple things to know: 1. they get really hot so don't try touching the middle of this and not expect to get your finger burned 2. you really have to slide the end in the loop about halfway for it to start to grip and not slide right out of your hair when you put it in. Let me just star rite off the back with packing and item itself are great quality. The rollers not only are the beautiful but they are sturdy and heat up super fast. This was my first new set of hot rollers in 25 years and I really wanted to love them. I was really looking forward to having large bouncy curls due to the size of these rollers. They didn't get hot enough to curl my hair. I have fine straight hair and curling is a challenge, but with product in my hair and wrapping these in a towel for extra heat I still didn't get any curls. This is my first time using the clips, I found them to be just fine. The rollers all stayed in place with the clips and were comfortable, they just didn't curl my hair at all. Returning to try something else. If my old Conair set had more larger rollers included I wouldn't be looking at all!Kelly P
I always want to curl my hair but found curling irons and wands so difficult to use — they're scarily hot and wrapping my hair around it is really hard. This product absolutely solved both of those problems; it was really easy to hold and clip my hair around the curlers, and each piece also isn't continuously tied to heated power source so I wasn't worried my hair (or nearby skin) would become burnt or fried. The product heated up really fast so it's definitely something you could easily do before work or school as you have breakfast. Because it's not as hot I did notice that my hair started straightening faster than it would have if I had used a curling iron, but if you use hair spray or setter immediately after removing the curlers, that shouldn't be an issue. I would highly recommend this product, especially for those who have thinner and more fragile hair like me.Catherine2

I have used hot rollers since I was a teenager. These are definitely a disappointment. I don't care much for the roller itself, but the clips are horrible. Very cheap plastic!! You cannot bend over or move or they slide and shift. Defeats the purpose of hot rollers in my opinion. I repurchased an inexpensive set by Conair again (and they have since improved their clips) that I bought 15+ years ago and will continue to use them. They are also a small travel set and are perfect for packing. Some times you just have to stick with what you know works. They are on their way back.ckpete

They work okay but if you have thick hair and roll up a lot of hair onto one roller, they may not hold very well. But otherwise, it is a good set of hot rollers and I like that you get 12 rollers. I went back and forth for a long, long time before purhasing this item. I shouldn't have wasted my money. Why? 1. timely – It takes much longer to curl your hair than with a traditional curling iron. You can only use very small sections if you want any curl at all, especially if you have thick or corse hair. 2. curls – This is a misnomer. They are more like curly waves, or just waves and fall out very quickly. 3. ease – Using this tool is awkward, especially when trying to get the hair in the back. Overall, I am very disappointed in this product and would tell anyone thinking of purchasing it to learn from my mistake and leave it on the shelf.Debbie
I genuinely like this. It was a bit weird trying it at first, and I did get tangled in it twice (my fault for not reading directions and just jumping in) My hair is to my waist and it's full, more on the coarse side of brunette hair. You definitely don't want to do this on very very long hair. it just doesn't fit. but any mid length to short should be fine. the heat settings will determine the tightness of the curl. I wash my hair the day before and let it air dry. then I choose the thickest amount I can safely put in the unit and curl the very bottom 7 inches of my hair. it does look a bit odd at first but after I am done I pin my hair in a bun (do my makeup) then let my hair down and it looks like big beachy waves – which is exactly what I wanted. Yes I could achieve the same look from a 2" barrel iron but this unit makes it faster and easier. With as much hair as I have – anything to make it easier helps. I dont burn my hands with this and I dont have to worry about wrapping or kinks from a bad wrap on a wand.Susana

If I had just seen it in the store, with the $99.98 price tag on it, I would have passed it up simply because I think that's too much to pay for a curling iron. But, had I known then what I know now.. I would have bought it in a heartbeat.Right out of the box it looked impressive. It does not look like it's cheaply made at all, it looks very sophisticated. It does have some weight to the top part of it (the curling chamber), but in my opinion was not 'too heavy' to where I had a problem finishing all of my hair. It comes with a nice little tool for cleaning the curling chamber/barrel if the curler, and of course, an instruction manual.. be sure to read this carefully before using! The curler itself is not as complicated as it looks, it's really quite simple to work with, but holding it the correct way is key!This is how easy it is to use this product: Switch (on) to the high or low setting. The red light will blink until the curler is hot and ready for use (once hot, the red light will stay on steady without blinking). The top switch gives you the option of doing 8, 10, or 12 seconds (this is how long you want your hair to stay in the curling chamber). The manual will tell you which type of curls you can get from each seconds setting. Keep in mind that, to get a particular curl, you not only have to hold the curler the right way, but also, you need to start out with clean, well brushed and dried hair. I found that even slightly damp hair can make your curls turn out bad.. but I think this can be true of any curling iron. After putting your hair into the curler and clamping it shut, it will wind up your hair, and it will make a beeping sound. Wait for the fast pace beeps, then you open the curler and pull it away from your head to release the curl. Simple!felisha.a

Got these about two years ago and, out of all my hair curling tools (rollers, curling irons, styling brushes, foam curlers), these hot rollers by Conair work the best! The dual voltage makes them great for travel, too. What I do is plug them in when I wake up so I can shower, etc. as they heat up. After 15-20 minutes, I put some mousse in my hair, put them in the hot rollers (the varying sizes are perfect for my thick, waist-long hair), and leave them in for another half hour or until the rollers cool. That way I have time to do other things as my curls set. When I take them out, perfect curls every time! Not stiff and looks very feminine and glamorous. Kind of like VS model hair! I don't put hair spray afterwards and they typically last 12 hours or longer. Of course, they turn into soft waves as the hours go by, but still very pretty. The only drawback is that it's quite bulky, so I'm currently searching for a small iron that can produce pro-looking curls like these.HDNSY

I ordered more large and replaced the smaller ones–however, they're tricky to fit in together as not much space between the bases the rollers sit on. Love them and have no problem otherwise such as with the rollers staying in–they stay in great. I dislike butterfly clips and prefer these metal clips. I really like using these. They made my hair look super voluminous and bouncy, even after having the rollers in for only 30 minutes. The price is pretty reasonable too, seeing as they , unlike rollers found on ebay etc. have a ceramic coated core-which holds blow dryer heat. The only downfall for me is that I need some sort or roller clips to hold the rollers in place which mecca currently does sell- so just keep this in mine when considering these rollers.gemstar1
I bought these rollers and they arrived today and I was very excited to use them. Some of them got so tangled in my hair that it took about 15 minutes to remove each one and then a long time try to comb out the tangles. As a senior citizen (82) I was delighted to find these Conair hot rollers, esp. with the inclusion of small rollers for my fine hair. I have never mastered using a curling iron and rely on these curlers for setting my hair after shampoos and for perking it up in the mornings, esp. the sides and top. When I get up, I plug them in and turn them on, and by the time I finish dressing, the white dot on one of the curlers indicates that the curlers are hot and ready. Some of the small curlers from my previous Conair set have been substituted for larger ones in the new set and work very well.Jacquelyn
These rollers are just ok. They take longer than five minutes to be hot enough and they lose their heat very quickly. It can be hard putting the j pins in the roller to keep it in place. Hated them ! The rollers are so hot you can’t handle them without burning your fingers. Then if you let them cool a little they don’t curl your hair .The older models had like little sponge covers that went around the plastic/ceramic rollers. If they are available I would purchase them . I would return them if I could except I threw away the box.steve

These hot rollers are very nice to have beautiful curls. I used them in daily life and for occasions too. These are a bit heavy for me as I have thin hair but works great. I was really excited about trying this product but I have to be honest, I'm a bit disappointed. The clips do not hold the rollers at all. The rollers are far too big and heavy to be held in place by the plastic clips. Unfortunately because of that they either flopped over or fell off all together. When they flopped they started to burn me so I had to adjust them constantly or remove them. Because of all of this, I really couldn't get a good wave that lasted. When I removed them it looked nice but because of all the issues the wave just fell out and my hair went limp and straight. I think if they make an adjustment to the clips in some way this could be a good product.Kalasmom3
I received this product for free to try, and I am absolutely in love with it! These rollers are amazing. When I think of hair rollers, I think of my great aunt putting these rollers all over her hair and sleeping in them. I honestly hadn't used rollers since I was a little girl. I purchased these for travel as they are compact and lightweight….the case adds no extra weight or bulk. They even work well (obviously with an adaptor) on EU voltage. I have long hair and they stay in well. My complaint would be the following: I wish all were the same 1" size and it would be perfect if there were 16 instead of 12….that's just me. I bought a second set just so I could create a full set of the larger size and, when not traveling, I heat up both so I can have the additional curlers. I just ordered two more to combine large ones to give as a gift.JacNJ
I did not receive the item pictured on your website. The curlers were grey and turquoise, but I received pink and purple curlers and they were the wrong size. I enclosed a copy of the order details with the return and I do hope I receive full credit. Your information said I would have a deduction of return shipping. That does not seem right or fair. I did not make the mistake. But then again it goes along with the wrong size roll of elastic I received. I like these but still learning how to roll them into my hair. I think the product itself is great, but there is a learning curve for someone like me who cannot do hair. I have fine hair a few inches past my shoulders and I wish the rollers were a little larger but I do think they’re effective in creating loose curls and volume. I owned this hot-roller set for probably about three or four years of daily use and I very much liked how it heated up quickly and rollers got hot enough to curl my baby-fine hair. I already owned a Remington travel set whose rollers get equally hot and sets my hair nicely when I'm away from home. So I was sad when one day recently the element on my Pro Hair Setter just died with a dull "poof!" So I started looking around and was happy to see the model was still being sold. I usually leave the rollers in about 10 minutes while I get dressed or have breakfast. The trick is to let the rollers cool down but I think that is for most hot-roller sets. It also helps to use a product in your hair, but that's just me and my very hard-to-curl hair. Yes, I agree with other reviewers who say it can be awkward pulling stacked rollers up from the heating element; that took some getting used to. But I found the clips to be really strong and makes it easy to position the curler. I'm crossing my fingers that I didn't buy a dud whose element dies quickly, as some have said had happened. I have had a good experience with two roller sets from Remington and this is my third time buying this brand. Overall I think Remington knows what it's doing with hot-roller sets and the price point is decent for the amount of use I got out of it.MM
I’ll be returning after one try. Not fond of this new design in hot rollers. The horizontal strip that the rollers mount on makes the the edge of the roller extremely hot and has a tendency to burn the scalp. AlsoIf you have longer hair the rollers tend to be too small for a smooth look. The only plus is that the clips heat with the roller . However I still think the design with the vertical posts for the rollers to sit on is much more effective.DS
