I’ve fought with this product from the moment I bought it. Didn’t need until I made the mistake of buying a certain smart lock. Now almost 2 years later it never works and my lock is nothing more than a fancy $200+ stupid no key lock. Want my money back for both… Also this won’t connect with barely anything else and when it does it’s constantly disconnecting or going offline. Also won’t connect with Alexa even though it says it is connected. Has dumbed down my smart home products that did work fine before I tried to introduce SmartThings. i have about 15 smartthings devices, and 1 month after my warranty expired, the hub would not connect or reset. contacted samsung and they said i would have to purchase a new hub. well, guess what, you can't… seems as samsung has stopped supporting or making this product line. seems a bit too much of a coincidence that my hub died without being touched…. ive noticed other people are having the same issue as i am right now. i strongly believe samsung is sending out signals to kill off these devices in order to make people abandon this line of products but not be fully aware all the other devices they paid good money for, still work – but that doesn't matter- without a hub, no other way to connect the other devices.Shaun
Quit after 8 days past warranty i purchased a smartthings hub along with several smartthings devices. when my hub quit working just outside the warranty i called customer service for assistance, after trying to get my hub back online it was determined that the hub is defective. samsung would not stand behind the product past the one year warranty. this is generally acceptable for me but it is barely a week past my purchase date. further, they could not tell me what brand hubs work with samsung devices. i am very disappointed that i could not get much more than a year out of a samsung product. i would not recommend smartthings. i have several hundred dollars worth of smartthings devices that are worthless because i am told other hubs will not connect to them. lesson learned, samsung does not care about customer satisfaction.Timothy

I bought this to replace my previous "Home" device. It had been playing up and was out of warranty. This was on offer and why I purchased. Overall it's a good device. Small screen but you see what you pay for before you pay for it in most cases; they're not trying to hide anything. The resolution is pretty decent, and it does allow you to watch things on Youtube from your account (I've not tried it across non Google services). The speaker will pick up the words as you're asking them and they appear on the screen so you can see if it's misunderstood why/what it mis heard. It does seem to have an improved microphone though as the Home device I had which was first gen would regularly not understand what I'd said even if it was the same instruction (eg; what's the weather/play whatever radio station or so on). It apparently can make calls, but I've not tested this. It's a small screen if you do, but far larger than a phone! The screen itself you can flick from left to right to see other things. On the screen, I actually really appreciate the adaptive brightness it has which seems to work in reverse of a phone. On the Nest it actually gets dimmer with it's surroundings; so if you turn out the lights it dims right down which would make it suitable for a bedroom, though it never completely goes off so will always show the time. I've no idea if this can be changed or not as I've not seen any need to try. Will play Spotify and also Apple Music! It does require you to use the app to change which service you want to set your preference to though. I have still been able to play things from Spotify even though I've already set mine to play from Apple Music. As long as you say where to play from, it seems to work.bigblackcat
Pros: Screen looks nice. Voice control works with smart lights. Cons: Touch screen is terribly unresponsive by today's standards. Very unintuitive to set up properly so I gave up.As an example of its logic, at one point it only lets you get to a setting by using voice control but then only lets you choose the following option using touch control. As it's also sluggish in operation you can easily hit the wrong touch button and then there's no option to go back. So you have to start again with a completely illogical sequence.Hence the following examples of things I don't like, may be due to not having been set up properly.Anyway, it only reads my main Google calendar not my sub or associated calenders, which makes it useless to check my agenda.I can't set up the screen to show exactly what I want e.g. agenda on one half, notifications on the other.I can't show photos from my local server only those that are stored on Google Photos. I can only show a single Google Photo album album as a screen saver not all my Google photos.The voice commands are not intuitive so you'll have to memorize any you want to use. In other words it will only be useful if you intend to use the voice commands frequently enough to remember them.The automated routines (morning, evening, etc) are another example of big tech companies thinking they know what we want to do better than we know.Mine nearly went into the bin after several hours of trying to get it to do anything useful. I regret buying my Nest Hub Smart Display. When I tell it to turn on a light or smart plug, it'll often take 4-5 seconds–long enough for me to think it didn't register. Which it also frequently fails at. So I'm either having to repeat myself or giving the command again right as it starts while standing in the dark like a fool. These are various smart home devices that worked nearly instantaneously with competitor smart speakers. The microphone sensitivity seems way worse than the competitor I've had or even the Google Nest Mini. If you go to the main dashboard of the device, it includes advertisements for games. I've found no way to customize the dashboard to include only what I want. Some people don't mind, but I'm a personality type that likes to organize things in a way that makes sense to my mind. Or at least, not have a sizable chunk of a small screen occupied by ads for something I will never ever want. On a device I thought I owned. A digital personal assistant that nags or tries to upsell me isn't my idea of a utopian future. Which is why I got rid of competitor speakers after too many unrelated advertisements that I don't want to hear when setting a timer or asking the weather. The Google assistant is better, but just the other day I asked it to turn on a certain smart plug. It misunderstood and went on to launching a long advertisement about smart thermostats available from Google. It was even so helpful to send a link to purchasing it from Google to my phone. I asked for none of that! Have had the device sometimes freeze. One time I had to factory reset it to get it to work again properly. I wish I would not have made this purchase and won't be purchasing any other Google smart home devices.Ben

Ei siis riitä, että kytkettävä laite toimii yleisellä Zigbee -protokollalla, vaan sen on oltava nimenomaan Aqaran valmistama (todettu Nediksen Zigbee lämpötila-anturilla ja lopulta valmistajan tuotedokumentaatiosta). S associe avec Google… Mais Google ne voit pas les prises (serveur usa). Le produit d ailleurs ne voit pas les prises usa si serveur Europe, ni détecteur fumée Xiaomi.. et le fonctions remote contrôle marchent moyennement (je peux juste gérer le son et allumer/éteindre une Philips, ni contrôle pas la mi box 4, .. Bref déçu plus par aqara. Passé de mi home a aqara… Et là je vois plus en icône si porte ouverte ou fermée, moins de périphériques contrôlés, pas de lumière… A la base c était pour ajouter le lien avec Google home qu avait pas le hub Xiaomi… Et la bah Google peut éteindre / allumer la télé… Mais je ne peux même pas contrôler les prises. You may or may not need a hub as a lot of smart devices have their own app but a few things I bought needed the hub such as the door locks and some motion sensors I bought on Walmart through monoprice. The hub had a few issues setting up my door locks but now that it is set up it works well. I had to unpair one door and repair it. Also the monoprice sensors leave out an important step in the setup instructions. There is a hidden pairing switch you have to press with a paperclip. The obvious switch that you see inside is not for pairing. The sensors are cool as they also have temperature and humidity as well as motion. The competitor so Wink is Smartthings, which is more complicated to set up as you actually have to down load the program code or scripts and install it where Wink is more like downloading an app. With Smartthings the sensors that I have can do more things like determine the brightness in the room. I have not found any advantages yet of Wink 2 vs Wink. Overall I think the Wink system can help secure your home with motion, door sensors and locks. If you are interested in the lighting system like hue you would not even need the wink systemJonny2nite
I’ve been a wink customer for over 4 years and love the home automation. I have lights, outlets, door locks, sensors, a/c and even the garage door. For the most part Wink has been a solid product. I’ve had some problems with loosing connections on light bulbs, but that’s probably because I turn them off by the switch sometimes. Well I finally decided to upgrade and took a serious look at what products are the best to use. I narrowed it down to Wink2 and Samsung. I decided to go with the Wink2 because of the 4 years of ownership and Wink’s support. Boy I’m glad I did. To switch everything to the Samsung system would have taken days as each device would need to be set up again. Wink simply transferred everything to Wink 2 and I didn’t have to do anything. I’ve seen some reviews that state the support is terrible. I disagree and was really impressed on how fast they responded. Both Wink Hubs needed to be updated in order to transfer the existing switches, etc… When I emailed support they pushed the update to me within 5 minutes, whoa! You can’t go wrong with this product but I would highly recommend going with Wink2.vheath
Purchased this device to act as an intermediary device between a Schlage Z-Wave electronic lock and a Google Home device as I was told that it would be required by the HD associate. The Wink Hub 2 powered up and connected to my home network without any problems. However, it would not connect to the Schlage door lock. After following the instruction 3 times, step by step, I called Wink support. Wink support was able to access my Wink Hub 2 directly and see that I had connected to the door lock properly. Interestingly, this was without my input, i.e. without me typing in or telling them the password to my Wink account. Interesting security model they have. Wink support was able to get the door lock to show up in my Wink App to be controlled by the Wink Hub 2. There is apparently NO WAY to have a Schlage Z-Wave electronic door lock be recognized by the Google Home Assistant through the Wink Hub 2 according to Wink in direct contradiction to what the HD associate told me. However, I was able to get the Google Assistant to lock by door via a voice command by creating an If-This-Then-That (IFTTT) account and programme it to access my Wink Account. The IFTTT account can be accessed via the Google Assistant. Although I currently do not have other devices, the Wink Hub 2 should replace the individual hubs sold by Hue (for light bulbs), Leviton (for light switches/plugs) and Schlage & Wieser (door locks).Pat_

Functionally, this is very much a home hub situation…as in, it's much better as a passive piece of equipment in the kitchen or living room to do smart home tasks, watch some videos, get Google Assistant to run tasks or searches. 4/5 STARS: Previously, I've used Siri, Alexa, & Google Assistant and I believe Google has the best smart hub assistant. However, all phone calls go over Wi-Fi by using the phone's contacts and essentially creating a virtual phone with your. name on it (have to manually add that feature to show your name on the recipient's phone). Google does this through Duo the same way Amazon Echo devices use Alexa. Google Duo is also, respectfully, absolute garbage… it could be so much better, but it isn't! Note that I am using an iPhone so there may be so incompatibilities there. The HomePod actually controls your iPhone directly, which is much more convenient but reliability of consistent performance just wasn't there with the HomePod (original & mini) either. It is an excellent product. It works perfectly and I would buy it again. However, there are two small issues. It comes with the necessary cord but not the adapter. As far as smart hubs go, it does everything it needs to. It's also small, lightweight, and quick to recover from power failure (or reboot). The range is fairly decent. I use it to connect my temperature sensors and my Keurig via Bot, and my only complaint is that maybe 1 in 10 or 20 times, the Bot will not respond. Now, I don't know if it's the Bot's fault or the Hub, but it doesn't matter if I use a smart speaker or the Switchbot Remote; either way, the Bot never activates. Now, around half the time when I use Alexa, it tells me that it's not responding, but it works anyhow; that seems to be a delay issue. All this to say: it's not quite reliable enough to use on something important, at least not yet. But for my coffee machine? I can overlook that for the convenience.Stanley L.
I am overall impressed with the device. I was pleasantly surprised how well the integration with my Aircon walked. I also got my TV turning on which I had never been able to do without the original remote. I was disappointed with the template for the Apple TV. I lost power to the device to to a power failure and I had to reset it as it somehow lost all the Wi-Fi settings. I am looking forward to testing it with a Bot and I am thinking about camerasDave T.

I just got two of these. One for the bedroom and one for the kitchen. I kind of want another for the bathrooms to play the music. The speakers are pretty great, loud and clear. Love that I don’t need my phone to cast. Struggling to access Netflix or Hulu without it just controlling my Roku tv and turning it on. I see that others can play both directly on the screen but even with Hulu (only for now) linked, it still activates it on my tv. I got YouTube to play (not YouTube TV, which is an app option on the Hub or in Google Home) by selecting a media option to “show recommended videos) but I didn’t see where I can type in what I want to watch on YT. Will keep playing with it and watching videos online to see what other functions. Don’t plan to use the motion sense, currently, so no opinion there.Cassandre

But it has this fancy new sleep tracking feature, and I have severe sleep issues. When they put it on sale, I could no longer resistSetup was easy. A bit too easy, I suspected. I was right. A few seconds of lying in your bed motionless is not enough to calibrate a the software to recognize when you're sleeping vs when you're not. Despite multiple calibrations, it still gets it wrong.Any time I am within it's view, it thinks I'm in bed. Sitting up on the side of the bed, standing beside the bed, walking back and forth on the other side of the room, all = in bed. Even when I really am in bed, it gets my awake/asleep times wrong. These mistakes happen consistently. It is of no use for sleep tracking.Plus, if you have sleep tracking turned on, you can forget ever using it like normal Nest Hub.Walt
This is my first experience with a "smart speaker" type thing. I'm mostly using it as a photo frame and occasional music player. The sound quality is on par with a decent small Bluetooth speaker. You sort of have to learn what commands are understood, and which ones produce the smart speaker equivalent of crickets ("something went wrong…"). And the reaction time can be deadly slow. Because this thing relies completely on verbal commands, it's a little frustrating, but usually I get what I want. The other verbal features ("is it going to snow?"; "What's in a gimlet?") are spookily accurate. But I'm glad I can turn the mic off with a switch.It took a while to figure out how to get my photos on my iPhone into the Google photos app and make an album that would display on the device. I'm pretty happy with it now, but I can’t say it was easy to learn. The image quality is good and the various display settings are great. I wish the resolution was a little better.Tom in NC

I recently bought a homepod mini to see how it compares to this Echo. I gotta be honest that the smaller homepod mini sounds much better than the bigger Echo….but I'm still liking the Echo device better because of Alexa. I have programed Alexa to greet me every morning with a positive message, the weather report and the news. Alexa also greets me when I get home after work and sings me a little song. Alexa dims my lights in the evening and later says good night and plays 30 mins of soothing music while I drift off to sleep. I love all of the things I can program Alexa do for me. Unfortunately I cannot program Siri on the homepod to do all of these things. Siri can play music when you ask her to and tell you the weather when you ask her to but it doesn't compare to Alexa. Alexa also tells me when there is a delivery which is super cool. I'll keep both devices but honestly, the Echo devices rule in my household.Bimbombaby
The Amazon 4th generation is super easy to use and really convenient with our busy lives with a few little ones running around. All you need to do is take it out of the box, plug it into an outlet, and follow the instructions in the Alexa app which is required. Once you’ve connected it to your Wi-Fi you have access to the Alexa personal assistant, a mamas dream. With Alexa you can do everything from control compatible smart home devices, make a list, set reminders to asking it questions about the weather. I was able to play music directly from the speaker just by asking Alexa and the assistant was also helpful with controlling playback. And there are also buttons built into the top of the speaker for playback. I totally recommend turning on “Follow-up Mode” in device settings so that you don’t need to repeat the wake word after you’ve asked the speaker a question. So after you’ve asked Alexa a question it will answer and then automatically listen to for a few seconds to see if you have a follow up question, because saying Alexa each time can get a bit annoying. We’re a house full of Alexas so it’s nice to be able to talk within the devices instead of yelling for the kids to come downstairs. This 4th gen is larger and rounder than the previous generations we have but having a different look than the others is nice for aesthetics around the house. We also received the Amazon smart plug. It’s rectangular, 3 prong and measures 1.5 x 3 x 2 inches, so you need to make sure you have enough space to plug this THEN your cord to your electronic. Super easy to install, also within the Alexa App. It’s definitely convenient to be able to talk to turn our lights off with hands full of kids. Overall, Alexa is helpful and easy to use. From one busy mama to another, snag it up.
We decided to give Alexa a try with the Amazon Echo. The Echo was easy to set up. A few basic instructions, and we were off and running! We use it primarily to listen to music and ask about weather. We've played games on it a couple of times and really liked "Escape the Room." We've disabled purchases on ours so we don't have any mishaps (especially with the kiddo), but we may explore that more in the future. We also use it to keep up with our shopping list. One of the best things about our Echo is that I was able to set it up with a smart plug to our TV. The setup was simple, and now we can turn our TV on and off with a voice command. This is especially convenient because we don't have a remote for the TV itself, so we were having to turn it on manually before. The Echo is connected to our Firestick too, so we can navigate that by voice command now. The main drawback for us is that my husband and I cannot both connect our Amazon accounts to the Echo. We've tried everything. Because of a technicality, we have to wait six months before we can be in the same Amazon Household, so only one of us can be associated with our Echo. We even tried using Guest Connect, but Alexa is telling us this device does not support Guest Connect. Maybe in six months we'll be able to set it up so we can both use it fully. We also noticed the Echo is rather large compared to our previous smart speaker. We thought this might be due to superior sound quality. Although I have no complaints about the sound quality, I wouldn't say it's better. Overall, we're impressed with Alexa and our Echo. It's a convenient way to listen to music, get info, connect with other home devices, and stay organized. I would give five stars if it weren't for the issues with connecting two adults and the large size. I would still recommend this to a friend, but would make sure those aren't dealbreakers for them!md55

I have several plug in switches to control on/off function of some floor lights, Dimmer module controlling 8 LED down lights, exterior on/off module controlling a water feature and a water on the floor sensor. I bought this device mainly to integrate with my Door Bell Skybell, but unfortunately Samsung still working on trigger part of it and hopefully it work soon. Also i'm planning to get MYQ garage opener and want this to work with that straight forward. I'm still learning how to use this, bought couple of sensors and it work like charm and i can control all my home light from anywhere now which is awesome for me.Solaris72
