I have used a variety of different cleansers: from horribly drying "acne" microbead scrubs to no-rinse cleansing lotions to your standard pharmacy no-foam cleanser. I was, honestly, extremely skeptical that a foaming cleanser could truly be gentle, especially for my tretinoin-ravaged skin, but based on the glowing testimonials I heard not only from this website, but also my favorite influencers and beauty communities, I decided to give it a shot, especially since it costs so little (relatively speaking). I'm glad I did! This has quickly become my go-to cleanser, to the point that I've repurposed my original cleanser (a previous holy grail product) to clean my neck and intimate areas. I only cleanse my skin once a day, because as with all prescription acne medications, tretinoin tends to dry my skin quite a bit. I've found that after doing my first cleanse, all I need is one pump of this cleanser to get rid of all the residue left. Although it doesn't leave a "hydrating" film, like some other gentle cleansers, and this can lead the face to feel dry when you're running your fingers over it when it is still wet, once dried, the magic of this cleanser shines- almost all of my essential skin lipids are intact! Even though it may feel "dry" to my fingers, my face never feels tight or dry, even when it is wet. Furthermore, this is the only cleanser that I've used in which my skin is perfectly comfortable for up to an hour without any other step after (not even toner), although I do tend to avoid doing that for obvious reasons. This has AHAs in it and even though it's in the calming line, I personally found that it was a bit more than my face was prepared for. I do have sensitive and reactive skin, and other products in the calming line (the toner, serum, and cream for example) work just perfectly for me. I keep wanting to find another cleanser as I tell myself I don't like this one. My skin disagrees though. You only need a small amount so it lasts ages, and it foams up really well so I don't feel any dragging or pull on my skin when using it, even the delicate skin around the eye. My face is not left feeling tight or sensitive in any way – in fact it feels like I haven't used anything to wash my face with. Which is why I keep thinking I should try another cleanser. Then I look back; I have had no breakouts, even with wearing a mask for 10+ hrs a day in 30°C heat; my oil cleanser is completely removed with this, my makeup is completely removed, my eyes aren't dry (never thought my cleanser could be contributing). This is such an unobtrusive product that does a fantastic job without you noticing that it's doing anything at all. I ordered this in September 2020 and still have a lot left in Dec 2022! A really tiny amount – literally a drop sized amount – is enough for my whole face. It doesn't dry out my face or make it feel tight. However, note that I'm using it in a soft water environment and on the equator with tropical humidity year round, and I can't comment on whether it removes makeup because I use cleansing oil for that. You will forever compare every face wash experience to this one. I promise you. Nothing will ever compare. Even if I use a very small amount, this cleanser leaves my skin squeaky clean. This is probably because the pH of the product is too high, which is not good as our skin is slightly acidic at a pH of 5.5. Looking at the ingredient list, I'd say it's because of the kalium hydroxide. I received the Sulwhasoo cleansing oil complimentary from Influenster. It comes in a cute plastic pump. It washes off pretty easily and doesn't feel like it leaves much of a residue. I love makeup removing balms and oils and I've used a lot of them. This one will do, but if you have a lot of eye makeup like eyeliner and more than a coat of mascara, it's not that great. Yes, it starts to break it down, but not as well as I'd like. I won't be purchasing this product once I run out of it. I’m so glad I found this! I was going through some serious depression and a hole in my skincare when my HG cleansing oil was discontinued (l’occitane immortalle cleansing oil). I tried a lot of balms/ makeup removers/ oils but this one fit the bill by taking off my makeup (even my beat face), without stinging/ hurting my eyeballs, or excessive rubbing my lashes. Has not broken me out! I wear pretty heavy eye makeup-layered mascara, liner, shadow. This takes all the mascara off (Note: I do not use waterproof mascara so I can’t attest to it’s performance to remove waterproof formulas. For reference My go to mascara’s that I have tried and tested this product with are Lancôme Mr. Big, Dior, Marc Jacobs, Buxom and/ or benefit roller girl). The product- silky light weight oil that smells lightly herbal (I don’t mind it). It transforms into a milky textures when introduced to water. Rinses off clean with no residue. Best way to use- dispense into hands and gently put on skin and eyes. Gently Massage in for a like a minute or 2 to ‘marinate’ and breakdown the makeups (really depends on how much cake I slapped on that day). I massage another minute on eyes and get in to lashes. wet my hands and massage that bit of water in and let it transform (SLOWLY) into the milky texture. When I know all the mascara and liner of off, I rinse off. Follow up with gel/ foam cleanser (favorite is: tarte deep dive) and then toner. Toner pad tells me if the makeup and gunk is all off. Happy to report- no makeup residue. On days when I don’t wear makeup but have sunscreen on (Hi ‘rona), I use this as my my only wash. It’s super gentle, does not strip my skin. I also use this if my skin has become sensitized (over doing the exfoliation/ winter) bc it’s calming. One star off because I still have to let it ‘marinate’ on my skin/ lashes a wee bit to take off all makeup. I really enjoyed using this product. Apparently it’s not for everyone, but it definitely gets the job done when it comes to taking off makeup. This is not a product that should be used alone and should be followed up with some kind of cleanser after use. Some people did review and say the smell is a little potent but it’s what I would expect from some thing that has ginseng in it. And I actually really enjoy using this product. My make up comes off entirely and I do not wake up with residue on my pillow or under my eyes etc. This product is more like a 7 out of 10 as it is not stand alone, and not something I would purchase often as I don’t wear heavy amounts of makeup often. I'm age 26 with dry/combination, sensitive skin, and I work outdoors in Australia (so major sun and heat exposure), and this is an excellent soothing, gentle cleanser. I use it as a second cleanse, after a cleansing balm, every night. If my skin is irritated from work, this cleanser does not make it worse at all, and I reckon it may actually help calm my skin when combined with the rest of my skincare routine. Do you want to use a cleansing foam that is so high quality you feel like you just benefited from an appointment at an esthetician? This is the product for you. Remember, the composition of this product makes it good for dry or sensitive skin. While it's gentle, it is the real deal and requires the use of essence, serum, eye cream, and a mask or light facial lotion after using it to moisturize your face. However, throughout the day my skin never becomes dry and the frequency that I have to apply moisturizing agents is less. I was so excited for this cleanser but it doesn't work for me at all. First of all it's very strongly scented but it has an after-scent that smells BAD, it's really weird – I think it's been strongly fragranced to cover up a not so pleasant smell. Secondly it's veeeeryyy drying – it gives you squeaky clean feeling which isn't good for your skin at all as its basically stripped you off your natural oils too. I have combination skin but I usually use dry skin products so this was a horrrrible feeling. I'm sad because I now have a nearly full cleanser sitting there that I won't finish 🙁S
I'm in my 30s so my skin gets drier in the winters now so that's probably why I find this a tad drying. I started using it in the winter, and I actually like the foam, the texture and don't mind the gentle scent. It's pretty standard, and fairly gentle compared to some cleansers out there. But I had to stop using it in the winter. Even now, in the summer, I use it at night, and alternate btwn this, a moisturizing foam-pump cleanser, and an enzyme powder exfoliant cleanser (once every other week). I mostly just water cleanse in the morning, and use a gentle essence on a cotton pad to tone, and that's sufficient for cleansing and preserving balance on my skin. Even if I were to use a cleanser in the mornings, I wouldn't go for this. It's too drying for morning. I have paired this with the enzyme powder cleanser (from Tosowoong) and somehow my sensitive skin doesn't freak out. So I usually use cerave foaming face wash, but decided to try something different this time. For reference I'm 23 and have combination skin. Wow, was this such a pleasant surprise! A little goes a long way and it's awesome. I use a dime size amount on a wet wash cloth or face scrubber and it foams up beautifully. Cleans really well and I don't feel stripped after. Didn't make my dry patches worse either. I use the Hanskin hyaluron essence immediately after washing so that may be why I'm not as dry after cleansing as some other comments have mentioned. This is a great option if you are looking for an affordable cleanser. It isn't drying like other foams and you only need a small amount. I use this to remove makeup, I will say it wasn't gentle on the eyes so you do need to be careful there. Removes a full face of makeup easily and leaves skin feeling clean. Isn't life changing but follow it up with a good serum/oil/moisturiser and you'll be good to go. As someone who was looking for something affordable this ticks the boxes and does the job. One thing, a light squeeze gives a lot of product so just be careful as you do not need that much at all. For reference, I have normal/combination skin. I have been using this product for years and love it. My skin feels clean and fresh. I always purchase more than one. So imagine how I felt when I realized the price doubled. At first I thought that the redesign of the bottle also increased the quantity. Sadly, the quantity in ounces is the same, just the price doubled. I have never heard of this product until I was in Target in search of a black owned skin cared company. I browsed and browsed and I picked up another product and was about to check out when the it caught my eye. I read it and was happy to see for the melanin-rich skin, so I got the cleanser. It did not dry my skin like another cleanser I was using, which I was super happy about! It really did leave my skin soft. The only thing I don’t like about it so far (only used 1 time) is the scent. Smells a little mannish, it’s a tad bit strong. Wish they had a fragrance free cleanser but other than that I will keep using until I find a reason not to. This is my all time favorite line from my favorite skincare brand. It all started with the PHA Cleansing Balm for me, and then I was hooked. This agreed with my skin immediately. This review is for Hanskin Hyaluronic Pink Capsule Serum (was not listed). This serum is amazing. It has 3 types of hyaluronic acid which individually target each layer of the skin. So your skin receives thorough moisture, unlike the surface moisture many similar products provide. The serum is a fluid gel consistency, absorbs into skin very well and it feels lightweight. Bought this while it was on sale. Never really heard of this brand before but saw that it was a Korean brand. Decided to try it out and it was great cleanser, it's extremely moisturizing! After washing my face it didn't feel stripped or dry at all which is what I loved the most about it. Previous times hyaluronic acid has caused me to break so I was worried this product would break me out. Sadly by the second time using small pimples started to appear on my forehead and cheek area. I've been buying a different face wash every time I run out for 6 years, constantly struggling to find something that helps with my breakouts without overly drying or irritating my skin. THIS IS IT! As I go to purchase my second bottle & notice only 10 reviews, I feel OBLIGATED to leave one!! I use less than a small pea-size amount, lather slightly with water, and work it into my face, adding water to lather and rinse as I go. It leaves me clean but not stripped, and pairs well with both the matching 96 Snail Mucin Essence and the Propolis line they offer (which I switch between using). Despite complaints about the fragrance I've seen, there's no noticeable scent when I use an appropriate amount of the product. CosRX has yet to disappoint me, and I pray they won't stop selling at Ulta, because everyone I know will notice within a week if they do!pyx
I love this brand and was very exited for this cleanser, but sadly right away I noticed issues. The smell is HORRIBLE. Maybe I'm just sensitive, but it had this chemically smell that I absolutely couldn't get over. Second, it made my skin SO dry!! I have normal skin most of the time and this cleanser made me like a desert. Third, it's texture is disgusting. It's sticky and really hard to wash off. You need to really rub with water to make sure it's off. I just finished the bottle after a little less than 2 months, and I will not be repurchasing. I do love it! It cleans my skin perfect. I think I had been looking for exactly this product to solve the issue with my oily skin. It uncloages my pores perfectly. I use Soybean Cleansing oil by Beauty by Joseon as the first step and this one as the next step. It was very good for hot weather and now it's cold weather and the Gel doesnt dry my skin at all.
I was using the Haru Haru one before this, I liked that one as a gentle and even hydrating cleanser but I don't like the lid being a screw off and wanted to try something else. I have dry skin, so I was worried about it being too stripping, but in fact it left my skin quite hydrated. I did not experience any tightness yet felt my skin was thoroughly cleansed. The low amount of BHA helped tackle my textured forehead and over the period of one month, I have noticed smoother and softer skin. A little goes a long way, so a standard 150ml tube will last you ages. This makes me look forward to washing my face every evening – it’s extremely gentle and non irritating for my sensitive skin. I also love how the bubbles would sometimes get near my eyes and there would be no stinging (my experience with cleansers near my eyes is a painful one 💔). I recommend this cleanser towards all skin types, I can really see every skin enjoying this! ❎: the packaging is something that really bugs me. As soon as you open the cap, lots of product comes flooding out and it becomes really messy sometimes – a little goes a long way so it’s annoying when I have more than what I need, it ends up just wasting product. The scent was also hard to get used to. This is probably because of the addition of tea tree oil in the formula. Though it is towards the bottom of the list, the smell is really strong when you open the product. Some people may enjoy this but I struggled with it at first. However, the smell does not linger and it is a wash off product so I quickly got used to it.rashida.k
I'm shocked at how nothing went wrong for me after trying out this cleanser! It's a prudent practice to find as much criticism as possible of a product you're considering purchasing to find any patterns in the low reviews, and make a more fair decision from there. I noticed a lot of people who had bad experiences said it did strip their skin and dry them out, so I was highly leery. However, it was cheap at the time of checking out, so I acquired it. It's definitely an improvement to some old Senka Perfect Whip cleanser I had that didn't really wow me. My skin is dry and prone to dehydration and subsequent comedones. I live in an arid climate with pollution issues (Southern California). Because of the critical reviews of this product, I only use a gentle wet konjac sponge to make it foam up, and only use an amount around the size recommended for toothpaste. This suprisingly does not make my eyes sting, which is a major plus! My first cleanser is Kose Softymo's Deep Cleansing Oil. These two products help remove even the most cement-like mascara without ripping out my eyelashes, for another plus (Cement-like mascaras I have used so far include Heroine Make Long and Curl Super Waterproof and Etude's Lash Perm Curl Fix). This cleanser is also quite versatile due to its tea tree oil. TMI warning, I know someone who had a fungal annoyance due to being a sweaty-footed enthusiast for contact sports, which is a hobby where I've noticed some unhygienic men bond over their swamp butt and athlete's foot… and he washed his queso fresco-smelling feet with this stuff daily for a week, then never had an issue again. I also have used this to refresh my scalp on really hot days, and it helps clarify buildup from shampoos containing coconut derivatives! I love this dang cleanser. Never given me any problems or dried me out, and actively fixed some minor skin issues. 5/5 I would absolutely repurchase.Laura
I’ve used this a few times since purchasing and I really think it has helped my skin! I’ve used it on it’s own and as a second step in a double cleanse. Works really well either way! It smells a little citrusy which I do enjoy. It comes out as a clear gel and it creates a silky foam that feels super gentle on the skin. I was worried it would be harsh given the citrusy smell but it really feels gentle and leaves my skin feeling clean. I didn’t find it stripping but I have oily skin. I don’t feel that it added any moisture but it does the trick if you want a good clean feeling! Size is big enough that this will last me at least 4-6 months with daily use. I ended up liking this better than , which I didn't expect. The ingredients in that one interested me more, but in terms of actual daily use, I found this one more effective. That said, there are other cleansers I still like a lot better, for example Tatcha and AmorePacific. I know those are more expensive than this, but this one also isn't super cheap and I'd rather get better results. The gel-like texture for this cleanser felt too thick for me. For cleanser gels, I prefer ones like Youth to the People Superfood, not ones that feel like they're so thick it requires vigorous application in order to get a good lather from it. This one helped with my acne somewhat, but not enough to keep using. It also seemed to leave a bit more of a film on my skin at the end of washing my face.
Finally I have found a cleanser for my supper dry and sensitive skin this winter! This cleanser is what I wanted the like 5 cleansers I tried this winter before it to be. It's creamy and thick, very soothing on my skin which is feeling better. It lathers well and a little goes a long way. It does smell like fragrance free cleanser, but that's fine better that than a scent. Sorry as usual I know it says it's a makeup remover, but I don't know how effective just this product is at removing makeup on its own I only wear minimal makeup and I use micellar water before this and that seems perfect. I will say it says it's for all skin types but while it's gentle enough I don't know if I would use it if I had oily skin or combo skin more on the oily side. This might be my winter cleanser, have to see in summer. But I've been using it almost a week and I haven't broken out and it hasn't clogged my pores.
Pleasantly surprised by how effective this cleanser is while still being mild enough for when I’ve got a rough situation with my very sensitive yet acne-prone skin. I actually felt unimpressed with this product at first but inadvertently over-exfoliated my face one day and needed a super mild cleanser. This came to the rescue and I’ve been using it ever since! My only complaint is the smell. Yuck! It SMELLS “chemical-y” like it’s got tile cleaning agents in it or something. I know it does NOT have those types of ingredients but smelling like it is awful enough on its own. The only reason I didn’t do four stars was because this product is truly amazing and effective — DESPITE the smell. And no, the smell doesn’t linger!MrsSanti1031

I've been enjoying this cleanser but it definitely leaves my face pretty tight afterwards so I wouldn't say it's one of those "gentle" type of cleansers. I wouldn't use it in the morning either. It works pretty well for days when I need to take off makeup or remove sunscreen, etc. It's fairly fragranced but I find it pretty pleasant so I don't mind it. I was recently gifted a tube of Clean it Zero Purifying Foam Cleanser complimentary from Banila in exchange for my honest review, and this stuff is great. This whipped foam cleanser forms a rich, creamy lather,breaking down makeup, dirt, and other impurities on your skin, and leaving behind a fresh, clean feeling that can't be denied. This is my first time trying a banila co cleanser and I am definitely impressed! The super whipped texture of the foam feels so gentle and soft on the face unlike any other cleanser I have used. I received this product complimentary from Banila Co for review. First of all, I love the whipped texture of this, it's so unique and easy to apply all over my face. I don't feel like it's strips essential oils like the rest of my cleansers do. It's super gentle, and I feel it works so fast in making my skin feel clean and smooth.
