I've had laser hair removal completed in a dermatologist office multiple times (4-6x each at different offices over many years), I've also owned several at home devices. Nothing has ever worked long-term. I've owned my tria for almost a year and a half. It has changed my life. On my neck, chin and upper lip I have seen a 98% decrease in hair growth. Consistency is key. It is difficult in the beginning but it gets much easier and less painful as the laser decreases the amount of hair growth over time. I started using a topical lidocaine but after around 4 treatments I no longer needed it. Now I use weekly for maintenance and it takes maybe 2 minutes in the morning to just zap and move on with my day. I use it every week. I am now working on my arms and legs. The only downside is how time consuming it is to treat larger areas, I wish there was a larger tria. I would highly recommend this device. For those of us with excessive hair growth, stick with it and this will change your life. I’m so pasty white I’m literally translucent and I had 3 kids in 3 years and I had all sorts of little spider veins all over my thighs. I did a lot of googles about different lasers and this one is very similar to the ones they use in doctors offices to get rid of blue and purple spider veins. It absolutely does! I wish I took more before and after! Here’s a couple of tips—you’ll know when you hit a spider vein bc it’ll hurt. But sometimes you’ll be right over a vein and not feel anything. My tip—go slightly off center and kind of play around w tilting the laser at different angels. You’ll feel it, you’ll nail that vein and in a few weeks it’ll just slowly fade away. It doesn’t work immediately for the veins, but it absolutely works. Also, try doing it right after you get out of a warm bath, your veins will be more noticeable.Laura

I used this product with my wife. We have been using the SmoothSkin Pure Mini once a week for about 4 weeks now as the directions instructed. The manual says that you can do a full body treatment in as little as 10 minutes, but it took 10 to 15 minutes to do both full legs. The product has 2 settings, regular and sensitive, the difference is the brightness/strength of the light flash. There is an internal fan because the bright light does produce heat, it sounds like a quiet hair dryer. It is very easy to use, just put the window side flush against your skin and push the button (either regular or sensitive) and it will emit a bright flash against your skin. There is a sensor that detects if the window is completely flush against the skin and if it isn’t it will not flash. For areas where it is not flat skin (ex: knees) there is a magnetic attachment that fits over the window that makes the window area smaller allowing for the product to be flush against the skin and flash. There was no discomfort, redness or irritation when using the product. After about 10 minutes of use the flashes do get warmer and warmer which can cause discomfort, I just waited a minute or two for it to cool off a little and continued the treatment. We used the sensitive setting on the inside of the thighs and on the back of the knee area since these are more sensitive areas and the flashes on the regular setting were a little hot. My wife has light skin and light hair on her legs and the instructions say it works best on darker hair, so she was a little skeptical on whether this would work for her. It wasn’t until after her second treatment (week 2) that she noticed a change in the growth of hair on the treated area compared to the non-treated tattooed area. The hair was not growing back as quickly in the treated areas because it was shorter than the tattooed area hair. I noticed that some of the thicker hairs were not coming as thick and a little squirrely (not straight) which made me think the treatment was affecting the hair follicles. We will continue using this product and doing the weekly treatments for the full 12 weeks and I will update this review when the treatment is done.PaulieB1
Home IPL devices for hair removal can really be hit or miss. Sometimes they work great, but suffer from slow speed or the bulbs don't last very long. Other models just don't work very well at all. With the Smoothskin Mini those problems don't see to be an issue at all and the results are great. The device itself is incredibly compact, making it very easy to manuveur and get it angled exactly how you need it to get both large and small areas of skin. It's comfortable to hold and overall the design supports an easy use. The Mini has several really amazing features that help make the entire process effortless. The first being the skin contact sensor that measures your skin tone before each light pulse, which makes sure you are using the strongest but safest light pulse for each pulse. It also sports several intensity and comfort settings to make sure that you have all the control and aren't in pain while using the device. All of this with a very quick firing light makes using the Mini effortless and incredibly quick compared to previous IPL devices I've used. The results are really great. After about 6 weeks I've seen really noticable results and because it's so easy to use is one reason I think the results will last. I don't dread using it and don't have to commit an hour to a treatment so continual use will be no problem. Comes with 2 comfort modes and three intensity levels for sensitive areas and more stubborn thicker hair and an attachment for precision it comes in handy for smaller spots. It has an automatic detection for skin tone so it measure what light level is needed. I am covered in tattoos so I did try it first on a small part of a leg tattoo that could easy be fixed if it damaged the color of it but had no issues using it on them. I love the compact size but I do wish it was wireless so I could use it anywhere in a more convenient comfortable spot in my house rather then plugged in the cord is long enough but that’s just me prefer cordless. I started with my armpits and bikini area once a week as directed those spots have the thicker hair on my body I noticed the difference of less hair growth in about 3 weeks but feel like if you had more thick corse hair it will take longer, I’ve shaved my armpits less often the hair also that grows back is thinner I hope eventually I won’t have to shave at all yay! I have had the Braun IPL PL3012 for several weeks, and I have used it 4 times, with one week between uses. I have fair/light skin (always burn without sunscreen, but can tan) and medium colored hair. The skin on my lower legs is not sensitive, but it is very sensitive on my inner thighs and bikini line and underarms, which makes shaving painful. I have not had any adverse effects or reactions to using this product. The PL3012 is relatively easy to use. The biggest challenge for me was looking away from the device when the laser was in use. For this reason, I found it easier to use single pulses (stamp mode), move the device to the next spot, and then activate another single pulse. The head does gently glide along the skin if you choose to use the glide mode. There is a slight stinging in some areas that quickly goes away, but in most places there is only a warm sensation. It is very similar to how it felt when I had laser hair removal done at a salon, but much more affordable and easier to schedule. The included booklet says it can take several uses over a few months to interrupt all the hair's growth cycles. Thus, I don't have significant results to report yet. The Braun Silk Expert Pro 3 Hair Removal System has been great to have at home. You can use this right out of the box, there is no set up required. I really liked that it comes with a razor. The directions are so easy to understand and follow. With my skin color and hair color it worked really well. I really like that when you are using this if a part of your skin or hair color isn't correct it won't work, you will see a red light. On areas you can use it the flash will go off on it's own. The flash is very bright on this. I do end up wearing sunglasses while using this. That would really be my only issue. There is a little bit of heat that the light and flashes give off. But this does not hurt at all. You can also turn down the setting on here if you don't need it so high or if you are a little bit more sensitive. This is very easy to glide over my legs and and other areas I am looking to use this on. I have been using this for a number of weeks already. I have always had to shave every day–sometimes twice! It seemed like the moment I stepped out of the shower, I already had stubble. On top of that, I have keratosis pilaris, so shaving was very irritating to my bumpy skin. This was my first experience with IPL, so I was very nervous, but definitely excited. The instructions for the SmoothSkin Pure Fit IPL Hair Removal System were very simple and easy to understand. There are only 3 buttons on the whole machine, so you feel very confident that there's nothing you'll forget to do or do incorrectly. Once you turn the machine on, it's instantly ready to go and you can place it against your skin. The machine automatically determines the best setting strength for your hair color and skin tone, so there's no guess work. You can then choose one of 3 settings with the simple push of a button and you're ready to start! I found the machine to be very quiet and the actual process was somewhat uncomfortable, but it varied each time and depending on what area I was treating. The thing that I really like this time is that it came with an end cap that really helps target and minimize the light for smaller areas such as over the lip and facial hairs in tighter areas, plus under arm. I want to remind people reading this review that this is hair removal is not only for ladies but also men who have unwanted hair on their backs, their chests, etc. So, this is at least a 6 week process and commitment which also requires maintenance every so many weeks as hair tries to grow back. The user must first remove hair from the areas that are to be treated by either shaving, waxing, or tweezing. That gets the area as smooth as possible and then by doing a weekly treatment with the IPL, you gradually kill the hair follicle and thus, stop hair growth. However, those pesky follicles can come back so that is why a maintenance program is recommended. Clearly, it will not be a s much or as aggressive hair growth as in the beginning of the process, but there will be some regrowth and you tackle that as is necessary. So I’ve never actually heard of an IPL machine until I started researching ways to reduce hair growth, smooth skin for longer etc and after reading up online, the Lumea was the product that was well know and the most talked about and liked product. I received the Lumea Advanced and it looked so classy and extremely well made, I read through the instructions and did my test site 24 hours before. First session – the instructions are clear and for the device and what it does, it’s very easy to use, I found when I am doing the treatment I have to reduce the intensity when I get to my knee caps and my ankles, it’s a very bizarre sensation at times but does not hurt at all, I did struggle up my shin bone as I have quite thin legs but I just turned the Lumea length ways and it’s seems to have worked fine. Afte the first session i already noticed a drastic change in hair growth, I only have to shave my underarm twice in the first 2 weeks and my legs once’s, I wasn’t expecting miricales but I was very surprised with the outcome after one treatment. It becomes difficult at times to get in the right position and get all areas but over time you learn and get in a flow/routine. Second Session – I felt the second session was a lot easier than the first session, as I knew what to expect and I also had mastered the art of using the Lumea and the angles to hold it at to ensure all areas were covered, again with the intensity I reduced by 1 around the ankle and the kneecap area. This time round I haven’t seen any drastic change, so shaved armpits 3 times and legs once. I’m due to do my 3rd treatment in 2 days and I’m excited to see the final result. I got this on sale, and basically I chosed the cheaper one because I couldn't risk investing a lot of money. However, the results are surprising. This is the first time I have used a hair removal device. I have always shaved or used cream which didn’t really suit my skin. I have been using the product for over 6 weeks now on a bi weekly basis as per instructions. There are 5 settings that you can play around with until you get the right one for your skin. The skin tone sensor will prevent you from using too high a setting which is a great built in feature, I did have to go down a setting on occasion when the sensor picked up a change in my skin tone. So far, I have used on my legs and underarms building up the confidence to use in other areas. The small lightweight gun shaped design is easy to use and manoeuvre with a decent length cord to allow movement up and down the leg. Once you select the correct window attachment for the area (there are 3) you simply press the window on to the skin, wait for the light to let you know it is ready to go and press the button before moving on to the next area. You do have to keep track of the areas you have flashed but for larger areas you can press and hold for continuous pulses. There is a very bright flash to let you know it has delivered the pulse and although not painful, you are aware it has connected with the skin. After the first use, I didn’t think anything was happening but I noticed a real difference after the second use. I could also see where I had missed small areas but that is down to my inexperience of using this kind of device. By week 6 and the 3rd use, there was a definite improvement and although not silky smooth, there was perhaps 70% clear and I intend to keep going perfecting my use of the device. On a side note, this is not to be used on the eyebrows but it comes with a separate facial hair trimmer which can be used for this area which is a great addition. I've been using it for 3 weeks. Once a week and I have noticed significant hair regrowth. There's a few here and there and this week was like a couple. So I can honestly say the product works. I haven't used other brands this was the first one I bought ever. So cant compare with other name brands. But, from experience sometimes you just pay more/extra because of the brand name. The product comes with warranty for peace of mind. To compare with the laser at laser clinics, well, I used to go to get it done at a laser clinic and spend a bit of money but with Covid I wasn't able to go back and get the retouch. This makes the product great value wise to compare to getting it done at a laser clinic. The price for having one to use at home outweighs the cost of going to a salon and it's money well spent as you will get that value in the first 4-6 uses. It does work does it work as good. I would say so from my experience using it around my bikini line. Just an fyi, I'm not a hairy person naturally but would still get a bit of hair down there. Not now! I also like that I use it in the privacy of my bathroom rather than going out to get it laser done. So convenience wise, superb! I guess you wont really believe the effects of this little power machine until you buy it. Absolutely incredible! I’ve been shaving my legs and underarms since before I even had much hair growing there, racing towards trying to be a grown up. I thought shaving meant you were grown up, until I used the razor in the wrong direction on my leg and removed a nice chunk of skin. I kept my bikini line trimmed and then eventually took it all off, when I went into a relationship. But it’s the continuous upkeep, particularly if your other half appreciates the smooth look, so I was excited and apprehensive to try this. I’ve also been suffering from what I expect is either ingrown hairs or some other skin thing over the last little while, which are leaving behind some stubborn scarring.First of all, I’ve never tried any kind of laser treatment before, so I was nervous. I read the instruction manual (and then read it again and again) and thanked the lord I wasn’t a redhead.This is the full kit and caboodle. You have a pretty comprehensive instruction manual, which for a first time user, needs to be read and studied first – because even in the first couple of read throughs, I missed the fact that there was a manual (which I tried the first couple of times) and a continuous option (which I did on my third session.)My first thought when I opened the package and saw the device, was that it wouldn’t look out of place on Star Trek. In fact, I’m pretty sure Shatner used this exact device for other matters in those days. (It’s also a nice shade of green.) It’s bulkier than I was expecting and quite heavy too.The box comes with two Gillette razors, goggles, the adapter and a fairly lengthy cord, the instruction manual and two additional heads for the device which go on and come off easily. One of the additional heads is for the SR mode and the other is for the bikini area.I’ve now used this 3.5 times (I say a half time, because as you’ll see in the video, I’m actually using this on the wrong mode – promise, I did read the instructions lol – and quite a low setting.) The way that I would describe the sensation at level six which is my highest level is a moderate flick. In fact it doesn’t hurt at all to the point where I am concerned about whether this will actually remove hair long term. It definitely works! Patience is a must though…because it takes time, but it works. My wife I are on our 23rd treatment so far since early Oct, doing it every 4 days. Hair growth significantly reduced, albeit not totally eliminated yet. How it feels: we skipped level 1 2 and went straight to level 3 at the start, and felt nothing…so, 2nd treatment went to level 5 and felt it a little – but not at all painful…almost like a 'light tapping' sensation. 3rd subsequent treatments went straight to level 6, and 95% of the time, again…you just 'feel it', but not painful. But sometimes, rarely…usually after it's been working for a few minutes, we feel a pretty uncomfortable "pinprick" sensation, and yeah, gotta admit…it hurts a little…lol, but it's by no means a deal breaker, and it subsided quickly. Usually just means we hit a sensitive spot, and usually the rest of the application go on without any painful 'zaps'.Recommendation to the company: you should devise some sort of 'visual application guide' that can be used by the user – because it's difficult to apply a precisely located 'flash', because the flash window is unable to be seen once pressed against the skin. Without a visual guide – giving the user an idea of where the application window is exactly located, then we're having to just estimate 'if' we're getting it applied exactly where we want…because there are times 'precision' is very important. It broke down on us mid-application once, after about 3 weeks. Just ceased 'flashing'. So, I hit up Amazon for the defective exchange, and we had the brand new one in our hands the very next day! We went with this more expensive model with the 'cooling' feature…as opposed to the less expensive choices because we feel that sometimes, you get what you pay for…and in this case, we didn't want to take any chances by skimping on a few extra bucks. Cheaper models might work just as well…I don't know, but I can at least tell you this product DOES eliminate hair growth.
