One of the best cleansing shampoos I've come across. I use a lot of styling products in my hair and this was great at cleaning and removing the residue build-up. My hair was literally "squeaky clean" after use. It lathered well and had a great scent, in fact the only downside being the smell didn't last long after use. Still as brief as it was this shampoo makes a great change to the other more floral scented cleansing shampoos on the market. Is it worth the price? Since I don't use this type of shampoo that often (only to remove styling residue every few days) I'd say it's a worthwhile investment to have in your bathroom/shower. Mens hair products tend to be quite heavy and easily build up. Mitch Heavy Hitter does exactly what it says on the tin (err…tube). My hair felt much 'lighter' after washing it with this product and passed the 'squeak' test after one rinse. It has a masculine smell, that isn't over powering. I didn't have to use too much to get the desired effect and so I foresee this lasting for quite a while. It's unlikely to substitute my everyday shampoo, but I see this more as something I'll use now and again to freshen my hair after a few days of hair gum and hairspray. Definitely recommend!Simon

So, little fun story before we get into the full review. I was going to upload the picture of the shampoo liquid itself but the bottle stole the show that had to submit that instead, it looks like a small cologne bottle, but it is shampoo! and guess what, smells like a good manly fragrance too. Tried the product and I loved it, obviously didn't feel instant results about the moisture part but the nice aroma it leaves in your hair it's perceived from the first use. I suffer of dry skin, that also includes scalp. After a week of usage I noticed reduced dryness, thank god. Maybe or not important for you, but it is cruelty free, it is not tested in animals, which also gives confidence that was meant for humans by humans. Give it a try!Orion
I wanted to write a review on this product and express my sheer disappointment in its performance. By far though, this is the worst Conditioner I’ve ever used! I have it two stars because yes my hair is slightly softer than if I didn’t use conditioner at all, but this product doesn’t soften or condition my hair anywhere near as good as other products I have used including suave, dove, and others. This conditioner is quite runny and not very thick like a typical conditioner is, and I blame this for why it doesn’t work. I feel like whatever this is made out of just isn’t quite as good as a typical conditioner is. My hair is all weird on the ends and just isn’t soft like I desired. Because of this, I won’t be continuing to purchase this product anymore. I will buy a different brand as I know how it will effect my hair. I will include a 2 day picture and a 2week picture for comparison. The 2 day picture is the one in which my hair isn’t curly. I found the fragrance to be very pleasant. It reminds me of wet bark or moss on river rocks. It also has a sweet gardenia note. My hair was already in good shape prior to testing the Blackwood conditioner so the best I can say for it is that my hair is still in good shape. It kept my hair soft and silky. If you're into woodsy smells then this would be a good option. My only issue with it is the container. Sadly in my area I can’t recycle number seven plastics, your location may differ. I also find that the nice looking bottle will keep me from using all the product up, so not that economical. But on the plus side it has a pump and that will help with portioning.gaby

I have been looking for a better hair conditioner for a few years now. My hair's quite curly, it gets dry and wiry pretty easily, and my scalp has a good bit of dandruff unfortunately, I've only had O&A Hydrating Conditioner for a few weeks, so far it's been good though. Yes your shampoo and conditioner are both very good. I have 7 different brands in my shower to used by alternating one brand each morning. Yours works very well. I have an oily scalp from seborrheic dermatitis and probably because it's just oily so I discovered Paul Mitchell Shampoo 2 for oily hair and it's the best. I buy a salon size at Paul Mitchell or a buy one get one at Ulta, works and lasts forever (see full review). But after living somewhere with soft water my whole life then moving to somewhere that's 100/100 on the hard water scale has been hard on my hair. I looked into Shampoo 3, which I associate with chlorine because decades ago when I was a swimmer I used this to protect my blonde hair. It was a different formula that was green then. Now my hair is dark blonde with darker roots (natural blonde) so it shows oil and buildup well. I have all kinds of filters to help with the hard water, but when it's that bad filters don't do much. This shampoo has a light blue tint and a subtle grapefruit scent. Shampoo 2 is clear with a softer lemon scent. I'm sensitive to dyes and fragrance and this doesn't bother me at all. I used this once a week and it really helps! I have so much volume after using this and my roots look great for days (I use another shampoo and wash my hair every other day). I really like this. I probably would need a purple shampoo to take the brassiness out of my blonde but I'm happy that this lets me go longer between washing my hair and does seem to remove some hard water buildup. This is drying. I just use it around my roots and then use a hair mask. If you have dry hair, then get in chlorine, then use this yes it will dry out your hair. But for my needs this has replaced shampoo 2

Tried the Degrease Shampoo because my hair is quite on the oily scale. Packaging is great and high quality bottle and tamper proof lid/foil. Upon first usage, I noticed a very floral, fruity, citrus-like scent. It smells great and reminds me of sorbet or candy. I have used Redken for 30 years. it seems like no matter which formula I like, they discontinue it. I used to use Go Clean and I liked it. When L'OREAL bought the brand, the quality suffered. Redken Brews Daily was not good and I thought all hope was lost. Then I tried the Extra Clean and lived it for years. Now it's discontinued and they recommend this scented water. If your hair or beard is long you will not be able to run your fingers through your hair as you're working it in and washing it out. What can I say aside from this stuff being absolutely incredible. It has a dry finish, but within hours your hair feels softer and smells amazing with this lemon scent that lathers well and is perfect for men who want more volume or have thinning hair. I luckily still have a full head of hair, but it’s quite fine in texture, and this stuff truly does make it feel more thick from the Coconut Oil and Kelp Extract that they infuse. Even my girlfriend loves using this stuff and she is extremely picky when it comes to shampoo or conditioner. Anyone who dyes their hair copper knows that copper pigmented hair dye will not stay onto the hair particle for long. A brand new copper color hair do will last about a week or two before it fades into a honey brown color, and eventually a yellow-brown color. With this in mind, there are products that will help to prolong the dye coloration and slow down the fade process, and I turn to Redken shampoo every time to get the job done whenever I need to prolong my copper dye. Warning – Conditioner is a MUST with this shampoo! It really does clean your head and it kind of dries out my hair, but I love it. I have very fine, straight hair that has gotten thinner as I've gotten older. I do not color it or use any products and I rarely use a blow-dryer, so my hair is pretty healthy. So, little fun story before we get into the full review. I was going to upload the picture of the shampoo liquid itself but the bottle stole the show that had to submit that instead, it looks like a small cologne bottle, but it is shampoo! and guess what, smells like a good manly fragrance too. Tried the product and I loved it, obviously didn't feel instant results about the moisture part but the nice aroma it leaves in your hair it's perceived from the first use. I suffer of dry skin, that also includes scalp. After a week of usage I noticed reduced dryness, thank god. I wanted to write a review on this product and express my sheer disappointment in its performance. By far though, this is the worst Conditioner I’ve ever used! I have it two stars because yes my hair is slightly softer than if I didn’t use conditioner at all, but this product doesn’t soften or condition my hair anywhere near as good as other products I have used including suave, dove, and others. This conditioner is quite runny and not very thick like a typical conditioner is, and I blame this for why it doesn’t work. I feel like whatever this is made out of just isn’t quite as good as a typical conditioner is. My hair is all weird on the ends and just isn’t soft like I desired. Because of this, I won’t be continuing to purchase this product anymore. I will buy a different brand as I know how it will effect my hair. I found the fragrance to be very pleasant. It reminds me of wet bark or moss on river rocks. It also has a sweet gardenia note. My hair was already in good shape prior to testing the Blackwood conditioner so the best I can say for it is that my hair is still in good shape. It kept my hair soft and silky. If you're into woodsy smells then this would be a good option. My only issue with it is the container. Sadly in my area I can’t recycle number seven plastics, your location may differ. I also find that the nice looking bottle will keep me from using all the product up, so not that economical. But on the plus side it has a pump and that will help with portioning.gaby

I really like this. For me the smell lasts a while and it does a good job of clarifying my scalp. It smells great and it does what it says it’s going to do. My only issue is that it takes a while to rinse out. My hair feels a certain way after rinsing for what I would say is my “normal” rinsing time. I probably rinse an extra 30 seconds to a minute more than usual. But that’s okay with me because I don’t use this daily so to me it’s not a giant issue. But it might be for others. Tried the Degrease Shampoo because my hair is quite on the oily scale. Packaging is great and high quality bottle and tamper proof lid/foil. Upon first usage, I noticed a very floral, fruity, citrus-like scent. It smells great and reminds me of sorbet or candy. After rinsing off, the scent is much more subtle which is great that it doesnt overpower you. The shampoo so far has been great. It doesn't dry out your hair like other shampoos for oily hair and it keeps the hair soft and very clean. Glad I got to try it out and I like it!Stanley S.
I have thin, fine greasy hair and my daily exercise routine and having hard water does not help. I found this degrease shampoo online and it is the first shampoo that has helped my hair not be so greasy. It worked the first time I used it and it is still working well three months later. My hair is less greasy and fuller. Throughout the day, especially on a warm humid day my hair stays cleaner and the next morning my hair isn’t nearly as greasy s it used to be. Just bought my third bottle of this product online and I've finally been able to stop searching for a better one. I've tried so many shampoos over the years! Between oily scalp and product buildup, I never thought I could skip a day, but my baby fine hair was suffering for it. I honestly think most shampoos designed to remove oils and residue overstrip and create increased oil production (much like most acne medicines). It becomes a vicious cycle. This product works and does not dry out my hair and my scalp doesn't overproduce oils to make up for overdrying. I use a scalp massager brush to work the shampoo in good and it's very tingly and wakes me up! Being free to not shampoo every day helps even more. This shampoo has also substantially decreased the volume of hair loss I'd been previously experiencing. I have long, thick, balayaged hair that lives way more of a fabulous life than I do. I don’t skimp on shampoo and for that reason I have always liked all the Biolage shampoos I’ve tried. They are high quality and come in very nice sized bottles for the price. That is why I was so very eager to try smooth proof because my hair is also wavy and without some taming, it can get pretty wild. I first tried this shampoo a few times without the conditioner (This is me most days for sake of time and also to avoid build up) and I was so happy with the results. It did not weight my hair down at all. The wave was more cohesiveness and it was soft and so shiny! I do use with the conditioner at least once a week and that is where you really see the smooth get to another level. However, it didn’t weight it all completely down, I still had plenty of lift at my crown without any real styling (Which I generally avoid) Like all the other Biolage shampoos I’ve tried, it lathers well. You don’t need much. I also really love the floral scent, reminds me of orange mlossom. I’ve been using it for more than a month now and my hair still feels great. I’ve tried so many other smoothing shampoos and they can build up over time, so glad they added this shampoo to the line. Would certainly recommend.dommy.g
I received this shampoo free for testing purposes by #influester. The shampoo is absolutely amazing it is thin and light but hydrating enough for my course, thick, 3C hair. My daughters and I have been thoroughly enjoying this shampoo and it’s something we can all use. My older has thick wavy hair and works wonderfully for her. The shampoo and conditioner is perfect and enough for her hair. My youngest daughter has curly 3B hair but it’s very fine and thin and the shampoo does work wonderfully for her hair too. I notice a big difference especially when she comes home from school the shampoo decreases her curly frizzy crown. The scent is beautiful and not strong. Amazing formula.
