So, little fun story before we get into the full review. I was going to upload the picture of the shampoo liquid itself but the bottle stole the show that had to submit that instead, it looks like a small cologne bottle, but it is shampoo! and guess what, smells like a good manly fragrance too. Tried the product and I loved it, obviously didn't feel instant results about the moisture part but the nice aroma it leaves in your hair it's perceived from the first use. I suffer of dry skin, that also includes scalp. After a week of usage I noticed reduced dryness, thank god. Maybe or not important for you, but it is cruelty free, it is not tested in animals, which also gives confidence that was meant for humans by humans. Give it a try!Orion
I wanted to write a review on this product and express my sheer disappointment in its performance. By far though, this is the worst Conditioner I’ve ever used! I have it two stars because yes my hair is slightly softer than if I didn’t use conditioner at all, but this product doesn’t soften or condition my hair anywhere near as good as other products I have used including suave, dove, and others. This conditioner is quite runny and not very thick like a typical conditioner is, and I blame this for why it doesn’t work. I feel like whatever this is made out of just isn’t quite as good as a typical conditioner is. My hair is all weird on the ends and just isn’t soft like I desired. Because of this, I won’t be continuing to purchase this product anymore. I will buy a different brand as I know how it will effect my hair. I will include a 2 day picture and a 2week picture for comparison. The 2 day picture is the one in which my hair isn’t curly. I found the fragrance to be very pleasant. It reminds me of wet bark or moss on river rocks. It also has a sweet gardenia note. My hair was already in good shape prior to testing the Blackwood conditioner so the best I can say for it is that my hair is still in good shape. It kept my hair soft and silky. If you're into woodsy smells then this would be a good option. My only issue with it is the container. Sadly in my area I can’t recycle number seven plastics, your location may differ. I also find that the nice looking bottle will keep me from using all the product up, so not that economical. But on the plus side it has a pump and that will help with portioning.gaby

This conditioner is amazing! Of all the conditioners I’ve ever used (I’m in my 20’s so I’ve been through a looot of conditioners!) this one is by far the best. I don’t need a huge amount of it to get my hair untangled, and when I do brush through it I barely have any tangles at all. It’s also very gentle on my hair and the smell is light and not overpowering. So impressed with this product and very glad to have found it. Okay, at first I was suspicious about this product because I really only knew Sun Bum for their sunscreen so I was a little confused seeing they did products for hair. But guys…this product is AMAZING. As someone who constantly buys products to help her curly hair, this has been a life changer. I bought this on a whim because I was like, what's the harm in another product supposedly for curly hair? Boy was I surprised!! I used to cowash because I was having such a hard time keeping my hair from getting frizzy but as a consequence my roots would get kinda greasy and sometimes my curls didn't look as hydrated as the cowash would advertise. Finallyyyyy I found a product that actually hydrates my hair, makes it look great curly, and isn't making it frizzy or puffy. The only con about this product is that I really really wish they made versions of this product in larger bottles because the conditioner tends to go quickly especially if you have long curly hair like me. Delicious! Smells so good! I bought it to control frizz in my wavy hair. I am using in conjunction with the Curls & Waves Styling Creme and it is a nice combo for soft hair. This product is the best smelling Dove Body wash. I also bought the soap. The micro-beads help clean my skin well, not just later hung it up in layers. When caring for my junk, the hard soap is my best bet and it cleans better than any other soap I’ve used before, from Dove or any other brand. Rough enough to leave you clean, while leaving your skin soft too. My wife loves its scent and she was really intrigued by the soap bar color. It didn’t bother me at all. I can tell a lot of thought went into this product, because it takes care of sweaty areas while leaving you feeling super clean. The body wash was good too. Although a bit thicker than other Dove products, it worked great for me with enough lather to use for my whole body once. I usually use the bar soap for my underarms and due to the deodorant residue I always have to lather that area up a few times. Not with this one. Thanks Dove. My husband received this product as a #freeproduct to #trywithtopbox . The fact that this contained caffeine seemed intriguing and he was expecting a refreshing scent. This shampoo smells like cheap cologne. Though the scent does not last for a long time, it still doesn't seem like something that should go into your hair. It does do a good job of cleaning the hair but there was no noticeable effects of the caffeine in terms of scalp stimulation. It also did not feel moisturizing at all and this is something that one would expect from a shampoo + conditioner . I wouldn't buy this or recommend it.Jerusha
I received this from topbox circle in exchange for my honest review. My dad tried it out a few times and found it to be great. It left his hair feeling luxurious, and bouncy. Very hydrated compared to his regular shampoo brand. It left body and volume, and it felt super clean as a result of use. He also noted that it smelled really good. A couple of months ago I started having some reddish patches on my skin around my neck and shoulders. I thought I might be having an allergic reaction to the shampoo or soap I was using so I decided to look for something safer/gentler. I had been using "2n1's" for probably the last 30 years. I was ready for a change. I wanted to make a healthier choice. So I decided to try this Andalou product. I am very happy with it. Here is why. First, it really cleans your hair – strips off all the dirt and the chemicals left by your old shampoo/conditioners. You'll notice it doesn't suds up as much, but that is because they leave out the surfactants – the chemicals that other manufacturers add to make their product foam up – making you think it's cleaning. Andalou actually cleans your hair. Second, it really conditions your hair. It does this by nourishing your hair with botanicals, aloe, vitamins, minerals, etc. It makes it healthier and stronger. Even though it left my hair looking just a smidge frizzier, my naturally fine limp hair has more body, which I like. Other products add chemicals that make your hair "feel" smoother – but do it by adding chemicals – actually weighing your hair down. I haven't used this product in a long time. I do remember it very clearly. I bought this at one of the discounted or liquidated stores. If I remember right it was either t.j. Maxx or Burlington. It is very Vivid in my imagination that I was trying to do everything to get rid of it. I know it stayed in my downstairs bathroom with a little bit left in the bottle. I hated the residue that it left on my hair and the lack of my hair feeling clean after using this. My ex-husband was very bad about using the last of a product once it got down to the bottom of it. Anyone who dyes their hair copper knows that copper pigmented hair dye will not stay onto the hair particle for long. A brand new copper color hair do will last about a week or two before it fades into a honey brown color, and eventually a yellow-brown color. With this in mind, there are products that will help to prolong the dye coloration and slow down the fade process, and I turn to Redken shampoo every time to get the job done whenever I need to prolong my copper dye. I use this along with the Redken conditioner Color Extend and shampoo three x a week, conditioner once a week, and my copper pigmented color will last about 2 months before it fades onto a honey brown and eventually to a yellowish brown by the 4 months mark. As with most products from brickell, I don’t prefer the smell. Their scented and unscented products don’t smell great for me, and I have lots of them now. They all do work fantastic, however. The shampoo my be my least favorite of the products I own if only because of the scent and dryness it leaves my scalp with. The conditioner in the other hand is a great product and I use it on my beard at times too. All the face products are great. The face lotion works really well for my dry skin and is what sold me on their products to be honest. I have the unscented and although it’s better smelling than the scented one- which is too lemony to me, it has a bit of an odd smell to it. The face scrub is also a great product.Cody L.
Definitely my go-to for daily shampoo now. The scent alone makes it worth it, but it is also a premium shampoo overall. Lathers and cleans beautifully, my hair looks healthy and strong, and it it’s easier to style my hair now because it doesn’t lay flat or get randomly wavy like it does with bottom shelf shampoos. I received this sample of Jack Black Beard Lube from Sephora and gave it to my Dad to try out. I'd like to preface this review by stating that my Dad is very much set in his ways and particular about his shaving regimen. For 40 years, he's used the same shaving cream. About 12 years ago (thanks to me), he added a balm that he uses after shaving with his cream to achieve an even closer shave, when necessary – generally, whenever his blade is on its 3rd or 4th use. He shaves his entire beard and sideburns – maintains a full mustache. He shaves daily and is not prone to irritation. Big Pro: He was impressed that the Beard Lube eliminated the need to use the balm to achieve a closer shave; his blade was on its 4th use and the Lube still gave him the perfect shave. He also appreciated how well the Lube softened his coarser hairs pre-shave. Cons: (1) He said it felt greasy upon application – his face did not have the 'clean' feel that his shave cream provides. (2) The Lube left his face oily post shave, so much so that he felt the need to remove excess oils with a warm cloth. This Lube contains oils for conditioning so that makes sense – but oil on the face is not something my Dad is used to and he did not like it at all. He also felt the need to use his regular Balm to give his face the after-shave feel he likes (I guess that fresh tingly sensation scent). (3) The translucency of the Lube made it difficult to see what areas of the face had already been shaven (funny because the translucency is supposed to help you see where you are shaving to avoid mishaps – but he didn't see it that way). Overall, he very much enjoyed the result of the close shave and would purchase the travel size to use while on vacation because it eliminates the need of second shave with his balm (less to pack / carry). He also said it would be handy while on-the-go to take care of a 5 o'clock shadow if there was an event after work. He also likes that he can get longer use out of his blades without sacrificing a close shave or risking potential nics due to a dulling blade — which would save money. For daily shaving, he intends to stick with his 2-step cream balm regimen but he would highly recommend the Beard Lube to men with sensitive skin that becomes irritated from razor shaving. I'm thinking the Jack Black 'Cushioning Shave Lather' may be a better option for some like my father…tiffany michele.r
I love Jack Black products and use way to many of them! I saw someone else mention travel sizes and you responded that there is a 3oz tube. I travel almost every week for 1 to 2 nights and I am carry on only. This means that I am limited to one ziploc bag so fitting all the JB products I use, plus the rest, even in a 3oz size is simply not possible. I also try to reduce my plastic usage wherever possible, so while I kind of live off the samples (and often time orders to so I can get larger samples of things I use anyway, I hate doing that. Ideally you would have smaller, refillable containers that could be used for a variety of different products. I would actually pay good money for that. I've tried using old contact lens cases but that's not ideal because I think too much air gets in and the product degrades.Joshua
Excellent product! Great body lotion part of my daily routine. I usually lather it in after a shower. The lotion absorbs to the skin fast and ideal for moisturizing my skin. It does a better job than others probably because of the ingredients with eucalyptus and aloe. The lotion leaves my skin feeling soft smooth and nourishing sensation. The Shampoo/condituoner works pretty good for me, but I gotta use it twice to get the results I want bur that's with most shampoo and conditioner I used before I jisy wish this had more of the scent to it, as like the body wash when u put some of that on a wash clothe or a scrubbie puff and start to use it the scent fills the bathroom, and is wonderful! I bought this because I was getting dandruff pretty bad in the winter months and I liked the ingredients list better than the other dandruff shampoos. I wanted to love this shampoo so bad but I haven’t noticed any difference in hair growth the only difference I’ve noticed between this and past shampoos that I’ve used is that when I’m washing my hair a have noticed A LOT of hair on my hand after washing my head. I don’t think that’s a good sign in my opinion. With past shampoos I would notice like 3 hairs on my hand after washing but with this one I’ve seen up to 20 hairs which is a lot more than 3. I have used Redken for 30 years. it seems like no matter which formula I like, they discontinue it. I used to use Go Clean and I liked it. When L'OREAL bought the brand, the quality suffered. Redken Brews Daily was not good and I thought all hope was lost. Then I tried the Extra Clean and lived it for years. Now it's discontinued and they recommend this scented water. When I first used this shampoo I hated how it felt. I thought it made my hair feel limp, almost sticky, and a bit greasy. I decided to keep using it since it didn't irritate my skin (I'm very sensitive and shampoos can cause eczema flares for me) and after 2 weeks of daily use I've noticed an incredible change in the feeling and appearance of my hair. Gone is the weird sticky feeling and now my hair is soft, shiny, bouncy, and healthy. My ends feel hydrated and so soft. I've even noticed less hairfall in the shower and in my brush as well. My scalp — normally irritated and itchy — feels normal and healthy. I think this shampoo is so gentle that if you were using something laden with silicones before it doesn't get the buildup off. I recommend using a clarifying shampoo and then integrating these products into your routine. I use this with the Formula 133 conditioner sold by Kiehl's. Highly recommend them both!Danielle
I am always amazed at the range of Kiehl's products – from daily skin care, to treatments, rich body care, family toiletry products, and hair care as well. I've been a fan of Kiehl's skincare for some time, but had never tried any of the haircare until I was given the Amino Acid Shampoo and Conditioner. This shampoo contains amino acid and coconut oil to clean the hair gently, as well as wheat proteins and wheat starch which are claimed to add body. It is described as suitable for all hair types and as a mild shampoo, gentle enough to use every day. It is free of silicone and parabens I am instantly attracted to anything coconut, it reminds me of the beach and summertime. So I would probably still like this product even if it didn't live up to it's claims! Fortunately, I am happy to report that it does. My hair, which is straight, quite fine but abundant, and coloured, felt soft and silky afterwards, and still had it's usual body. There was no issue at all with it feeling "weighed down" or limp – and I do know what that feels like, whenever I have my hair coloured. I have fairly dry, coloured hair with a slightly oily scalp, but both scalp and ends felt perfectly clean after using Amino Acid. It might be counter-intuitive to think of coconut oil with an oily scalp, but in this case it works.\n\nThe lather – I have to say it doesn't lather quite as well as my usual shampoo but, with an oily scalp, I naturally double shampoo. The first shampoo to remove any excess oil, the second to really clean the hair. On the second shampoo, with Amino Acid the lather is rich and creamy, exactly as I want, but also easy to rinse out. The coconut scent afterwards is wonderful, it lingers but is not overpowering. There is nothing better than having been at the beach, hot and sticky, and then washing all of that away with a coconut-scented product. It reminds me of those times.\n\nThe packaging is fairly plain, on the face of it – just a plastic bottle, but what I really like about Kiehl's packaging is the trademark cursive writing, and the fact that all the ingredients and directions are right there conveniently on the bottle,not on a leaflet, so you can read them clearly.\n\nThe price is the only drawback – it is very high for a product that will be used as often as a shampoo. So I would recommend that people use it as I do – as an extra summer shampoo for those times when you have been in the pool every day and need to step up the shampooing. \n\nAnne F.
I waited awhile to do this review, I wanted to see how my hair responded to using Kiehl's Since 1851 Amino Acid Shampoo and Conditioner. I have been using it for 5 months now and I am impressed. I have always been "cheap" when it has come to shampoo and conditioner, but I was having a lot of issues with my hair. My volume was flat, my natural waves always seemed limp, and the worst part was that every time I brushed or washed my hair I was pulling out clumps. I switched to Kiehl's and it is like night and day. My natural waves are back, my hair is growing back in areas where my hair was thinning, my hair isn't falling out by the bunches anymore and my hair is soft and has volume again. I also noticed that I have less issues with my hair feeling and looking greasy and I didn't even realize that was an issue prior to the switch. My husband’s hair gets very dry and rough in the winter and it also gets frizzy. This conditioner is great for his hair. Smells so good. It’s very effective in providing right amount of hydration. His hair feels softer and shiner than before. Very nice amazing ingredients. I am glad it reduces frizzy hair too. In fact I tried this on my long hair and the output was great. This product is truly a much needed hydration, that dry hair needs. It smells great, very soft powdery scent. It makes the hair feel super soft and it gets easier to brush it. It dries perfectly and won’t leave the hair look greasy or oily. It feels like nothing was put on the hair. And girls, I think this product should be used by women too, because it saves my hair. So at first when i saw the classic Old Spice packaging in my #complimentary #influenster #voxbox i thought this was intended for my husband. However, once i opened it, i found the scent to be very light, fresh, clean, and gender neutral. I was a little worried that the 3 products together (shampoo, conditioner, leave-in product) would weigh down my hair but they seem to be doing a good job of keeping in the moisture without any oiliness. i will admit that i haven't styled my hair curly since using this – too cold here to wait for it to air dry. Will try and update once I've done a curly trial. Anyway, the leave in conditioner is light and i thinks help with smoothing and de-frizzing mostly. would consider purchasing again.
