This is an excellent shaving gel! I have only used the foamy types of shaving cream in the past and I must say, I have a wonderfully close shave, even with an inexpensive disposable razor. I love that it is full of moisturizers that keep the skin soft and smooth even after shaving, and greatly reduced the amount of irritation with shaving. The entire Gilette line is quality, from the razors to the shaving gels, you can't go wrong with any of their high quality products. I've used Gillette products forever and have always been pleased. This new shave gel continues to raise the bar for the industry leader. The gel itself goes on easy, lathers very well, and holds in place even on the wettest skin. I shave in the shower and cheaper gels often slide, but not this gel from Gilette. I also found the cap-free design awesome. It's my favorite part. A quarter turn opens the cannister, and a reverse quarter turn puts it back in storage mode. It's super easy to use and keeps the product cleaner between uses. The innovation is only half the story. Ive tried dozens. This is THE BEST… not close to the best, but THE ABSOLUTE best aftershave that has ever been invented. It refreshes and soothes. It has a nice tingly feel. It has a lovely aroma, that is light and dissipates quickly so it wont interfere if you want to use a cologne too. It is cooling and bracing, especially if you live in a warm climate. The menthol and eucalyptus smell fantastic WARNING if you are allergic to eucalyptus then you should stay away The witch hazel in it soothes any small nicks you might get in your shave. Some shaving creams tend to make your or, at least, my face feel somewhat greasy or oily later in the day but a postshave application of Proraso completely eliminates that aftereffect, leaving your face smooth but not oily or greasy. Having discovered it, I go through gallons of this stuff. This is an absolutely great after shave lotion. It has a crisp masculine smell and really tones up the skin after a good wet shave. Buying a massive 400ml bottle like the one I have lasts for about 18 months of regular use. It is also only about a third of the cost of buying it in a small 100ml bottle. Less waste of materials and more bang for your buck as they say. This is the best after shave I have ever used. I would also rate the Proraso green shaving cream as the best cream on the market, and pretty inexpensive too. I am very hesitant to purchase products that I havent been able to sample but I took a chance on this product and I am so happy with the outcome. It has a typical eucalyptus sent that has aromatherapeutic qualities, is not too strong, and does not linger. The sensation when splashed on the skin is not an immediate burn but comes on gently and resembles a icy hot type of feel but very pleasant and relaxing. It leaves my skin feeling soft and clean and does not have an oily residue. I have somewhat sensitive skin on my neck and it never causes me to have any breakouts. I am in the military and shave every day and I use this product every day, I couldnt be more happy with the results. At 14 I would easily pay twice the priceAlso.. I have been using this cream for a few weeks now, I have to say I like it more and more as time goes by. It gives me a very comfortable shave, so much nicer than using the usual creams from the grocery store. I use and recommend using a shaving brush to apply this product. It makes for a close and comfortable shave. In my opinion, I use less strokes, saving time. I've always had sensitive skin & would get neck-rashes for a day or two after shaving, It was horrible if I had to wear a high collar shirt as it would chaff my neck something awful. I used to use regular shaving foam & then a "sensitive skin" after shave balm but it only helped a little bit. Electric razors were even worse. A few years ago I tried this stuff & it made a world of difference! I use it in conjunction with a five blade wet razor & shave butter, The shave butter & the caffeinated after shave saved my neck, literally. Now after I shave I only get a slight skin sensitivity, I can even wear a shirt & tie the same day as I shave without too much discomfort, before I used this it was very uncomfortable to even wear a polo shirt with a collar. Barbasol is like the go-to of go-tos for hair removal. When shaving, it is IMPERATIVE to have a good shaving cream. Barbasol, comes out thick, foamy, and easily spreadable. It has a generous and easily applicable formula, and it really makes those fickle hairs stand right up. Very easy to shave with, and comes off instantly with water, so its practically mess proof. My husband and son were big Noxema Medicated shave cream fans for years. They stopped making it so I had to find a replacement. Thus far, for the money it's not a bad cream. I have used this shave cream for almost twenty years and tried many others, including soaps ; I mean almost a hundred. I keep going back to Stephans, it is so good you can add a fair amount of water to it , spread it on your face and get the best shave ever. Routinely my blade has been used for some time and I have to reshave( time to replace the blade). With Stephans I often shave with an old blade, sure I'll have to reshave , feel for whiskers and there are none. It's like what's going on ? When you know your blade / cartridge is done is when it does not give you a close ( baby close) shave with Stephans – you will be so sure of this that you will be positive the blade or cartridge is done and will be happy to replace it. The only other shave cream to ever give me this performance is Palmolive Brushless Shave Cream, but that hasn't been made for almost ten years. What is really nice is that it is a totally legitimate aftershave. It is a good reason to keep several jars around. If you find it really cheap, load up – it does not go bad. Some shave creams do. Also if you have a real lot around the house you can give some to friends and relatives as a gift. My shaving regime includes Proraso Pre Shave which I rub into my face and leave for at least 5 minutes. I then shower and let hot water wash over my face for 2 or 3 minutes. On exiting the shower I apply neat Proraso Shaving Cream (Shea Butter & Sandalwood) or Cremo Original Shave Cream by hand onto my wet face. I put a little water onto my hands and rub the residue of the shaving cream on my hands into a lather which I rub over the neat shaving cream already on my face. I then shave using an adjustable safety razor which I have set to 4 on a scale of 1 – 6. I have been shaving for more years than I care to remember and this is the closest, smoothest, rash free shave I have ever had. I'm sure there are many other shaving regimes that work just as well but I've found this is the one that works for me!brian342684

PRORASO is the favorite Italian's barber's pre-shave cream through tree generations. I am 45 and Italian and I can attest how this is SO true lol The "green" normal skin variation smells like old man for me. This "white" sensitive is much much better. It works really well. It not only prepares the skin for shaving, but gives it some moisture and softens the facial hair. Scent is mild (translates green tea and oat). I have purchased this and the other macca shaving cream for several years. They are the only shaving creams that I will use. I have thick, fast growing facial hair. In less than 3 weeks I can look like a full-fledged manly lumberjack. I always buy my personal needs from Fendrihan. I received a sample of this shave cream … could be a long time ago. I finally opened it up and tried to use it with a brush in a bowl. Disappointing. Reading the instructions suggest applying to the wet face with ones fingers. I had enough to do this. I shaved and ….. Wow! It was like there was no blade in the razor. So so smooth, such a close shave. I dare to say, at the risk of readers wanting to take me to the guillotine, that my shave was even better than when using TOBS or other high quality brush creams. I had to have a tube NOW. I managed to get one the same day. I had been absolutely dying to try a silky, moisturizing shaving oil. While I had always been a shaving cream girl [like many people], they consistently left me unsatisfied. I figured this one from Tree Hut would be the perfect place to start. The price is very reasonable, the reviews are excellent, & I love gel-oil textures. I went into Ulta, & sampled each scent, before deciding on Coconut Lime. It has a very delicious, sweet, tropical vibe. I also picked up their Hair Minimizing Body Butter in the same scent. I was very happy with my purchases, & beyond excited to try them. Upon using the shaving oil for the first time, I noticed the consistency was much thinner than I expected it to be [definitely much thinner than it seemed when I applied it to the back on my hand in the store]. It didn't "grip" my skin very well, lending to it feeling like I wasn't going to achieve a super close shave. While I always turn the shower off for my shaving time, I found even the dampness of my skin was enough to make it feel incredibly thin/watery. Basically, the viscosity of the oil just wasn't as rich + silky as I'd hoped. This was 100% NOT what I was expecting from a shaving oil with a "gel-oil" consistency. I will say, this is still a perfectly fine product. It does what it says, & it does so better than shaving creams. It isn't exactly what I'm looking for, but it does indeed provide a close, razor-burn/bump-free shave. I also really appreciate the fact that I can speed-shave, & I don't have to worry about getting any little nicks/cuts [which I used to give myself in spades]. The clear nature of this product means you can easily miss a spot [especially when it comes to larger areas, such as your legs], but that's an easy fix post-shower. It also leaves my skin feeling soft, & decently moisturized-not "I can skip body lotion/cream" moisturized, but absolutely not dry. The thinner/more runny consistency means it's super quick to rinse off, so you don't have to worry about taking the time to scrub away a thick, oily residue. Just be sure to have your desired shaving area closer to dry than wet. I know the bottle states it can be used wet, or dry. I do agree with this. However, I find it works best when your skin is leaning closer to the dry side. When your skin is too wet, the oil simply gets lost to the water. Overall, I completely understand the multitude of 5 star reviews. This is an especially amazing product for someone who is always in a rush [me to a T], who wants a quick, easy, & effective shave. It would be a 5 star product for me as well, if only it was a bit thicker + richer [or honestly just more of a true gel-oil consistency]. I'm nearing the half-way point of my first bottle, & I do believe I am going to be repurchasing. I will have this one on hand for when I need a super quick + easy shave that I can rinse away in seconds, & hopefully another shaving oil for when I want a more nourishing + luxurious experience. I didn't buy this for myself, so I didn't see how much it was until I was going to order more but I think I'd pay that. I DO like it. It's not DRYING but I don't think it's overly moisturizing or anything. Doesn't make the shower super slick like pure coconut oil. Haha. But my only issue is that it's fairly difficult to see where I have already shaved and where I haven't. That only becomes a huge issue on my inner thighs – where I would normally get razor burn. I don't want to go over the skin more times (without – in this case – this shaving oil) than I have to! If it had some sort of tint or color to it, it would be 100% perfect. I usually buy this from Saks to take advantage of my Am Ex offer and there are a bunch of one star reviews for this product as well with the same complaint many others on here have. They hate the tube. I loved this shaving cream but am looking for a new product since I hate the tube. The jar is a lot easier if you have issues using your hands and less wasteful. Kiehl's is replying to posts on here indicting the tube is what the consumer wanted. They must have not gotten feedback from any of my friends. As someone who struggled for years with ingrown hairs and razor burn, I feel inclined to review products when they are exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. This product falls into the good side of things. In a nutshell, I wasn't able to shave comfortably until I switched to a safety razor and brush (if you haven't looked into it, please do.# You'll thank yourself once you realize that those silly 5 blade contraptions are a complete waste of money, and using a safety razor will allow you to spend money on quality skin products #like this one# rather than spending 20 bucks for 2 weeks worth of blades. My typical shave goes like this- brush /w good quality cream, aftershave 'lotion' #it's filled with menthol and astringent to close pores and prevent infections# followed by Neutrogena balm. Sounds like a lot, but in reality it's not and it's worth it to not look like a fool with razor bumps. This product seems to basically combine aspects of all three of my usual steps. It has a nice glide to it once lathered, has menthol to help close the pores and tighten skin, and leaves face feeling supple instead of dried. I thought I would never say this, but I could actually ditch the brush and use this stuff daily if I felt so inclined. The one thing that I find odd is the "no water needed" disclaimer…. no clue why they say that. It took about two passes to realize things weren't going to end well. So, what I would say is that rather than going totally dry, just wash your face, rinse, and leave that water on there. Get your hands slightly damp #run them under hot water, shake them out# and then lather- MUCH better. Finally, rinse with COLD water- not hot- and do NOT towel dry your face. The cold water will close your pores, and letting your face air dry #won't take too long# will prevent all of the oils, bacteria, and grime from your towel from getting in your pores #that's what causes irritation.# This stuff IS hard to rinse out, but that's what a quality cream does…. it's not supposed to rinse right off! Some keep the water running, I just fill the sink with hot water and whisk the razor back and forth… seems to work better. Lastly- I would still use an aftershave balm. Helps keeps your face moisturized especially in dry climates and wintertime. Overall, I was really impressed by this- moreso than any other big box can/tube/brushless shaving cream. I will probably buy this for travel rather than lugging along a brush.jl1984

Neutrogena Men Sensitive Skin Shave Cream works excellent. It’s a non-foaming/non-lathering cream that the user applies to the area being shaved and shaves away. It rinses clean, doesn’t clog the razor, and doesn’t make the edge of the razor hover so high above the skin that the user must choose between a close or irritation-free shave (though one _can_ experience irritation with enough effort and a can-do spirit…). The non-foaming/non-lathering means one can’t use it as a moisture trap the way one might with soaps or creams that require whipping from a brush, but one also doesn’t chase down the right amount of tallow or glycerine if hard water is a concern. It’s also much quicker to apply and wash off and that’s great. It’s awesome, works _much_ better and faster than the lather I was whipping from bar soap, and is simply handy. If one’s final pass when shaving is the much-feared against-the-grain pass, this shaving cream is the enabler the sinful user has sought.thombrogan

This is the only shave cream I've used for years, it's the only stuff that works for me, the "sensitive skin" variety was crap… First they discontinued their post-shave balm without any sort of announcement…I was extremely disappointed when they did that; the balm was pretty much unanimously considered the best of its type by anyone who tried it, and my skin has suffered since they discontinued it several years back… And now I can't find this shave cream anywhere. If they've discontinued this, then I swear I will never buy another Neutrogena or J&J product in my lifeDire

I'm someone who has a very particular taste in scents. For reference, I loathe ANYTHING vanilla scented because it's sickeningly sweet and always stands out the most. I'm more of a fruity/floral type of girl. This edition smells like delicate berries found in the snow, and you can't even detect the scent of vanilla. I can't really describe it beyond that. It's so inoffensive but beautiful and layers so well with other scents. (Versace bright crystal with this as a base coat is perfection) I'm absolutely in love with this. I'm so glad I tried it out. First I have to say that I had ordered a newer scent that was too strong for me giving me a headache. I reviewed that scent and someone from Hempz contacted me saying they were sorry it didn't work out for me and they would like to exchange it for another full size bottle. I had given the bottle to someone that liked it so I told them that and they said that's ok they would still like to send me a new one to pick which one I wanted. They did deliver free of charge and this is the one I had picked because it is my all time favorite. I get so many compliments when I wear this one. It has a sweet pineapple honey smell but not too strong just right. Love this lotion and I love Hempz company. I am so happy with the way they treat their customers.
