20 Best Micellar Water For Sensitive Skin (Feb 2023 Update)

This is my favourite makeup removing product – way better than wipes in my opinion and for me personally the best value + effectiveness combo micellar water out there. I like to do a FULL face of concealer and foundation some days, other days I layer on multiple coats of mascara, go hard with the bronzer and highlight, or apply falsies and a ton of lash glue. I change it up a lot but REGARDLESS of the type and amount of product I apply this micellar water gently and effectively removes it. I drench a couple cotton rounds in this micellar water and wipe all over my face, around my eyelids and over my lashes with ZERO irritation whatsoever, and I have very sensitive, redness prone skin. The price is great, you get a lot of product for what you pay for, and this micellar water gets the job done every time without irritation or redness. For these reasons this is my holy grail micellar water and I will continue to repurchase. PLUS they sell the mini size at the drugstore which is perfect for travelling. Bonus: the lid doesn’t leak when travelling so you can throw in your bag and go. I’ve tried many other “all-in-one” or “safe for sensitive skin” micellar waters at the drug store and even from Sephora and none worked as well as this one for me personally, and they usually made my eyelids and under eye area burn. Try this out if, like me, you’ve got sensitive skin but like to wear heavy makeup and want all traces of it gone without getting skin irritation in the process. I order on Amazon (often is on sale) and use every time I wear makeup. I love this product. I don't wear make-up regularly, but I use it to clean my face in the mornings so I can continue to let the previous night's serums and elixirs work their magic on my skin. I purchased a new bottle recently anticipating running out of the one I'd been using. I opened my new bottle and instinctively took off the lid to remove the protective seal. There was no seal, so I chose not to use it thinking perhaps the bottle had been tampered with. I called the customer service number on the bottle and was told that the company does not put protective seals under the lid/over the opening of the bottle as a means of producing less plastic waste. I certainly understand and support that, but it also makes me uncomfortable using the product now. I recognize there are other products I buy that don't come with protective seals, e.g., shampoo and conditioner, but for some reason, it threw me that this one didn't. Maybe because I am applying it directly to my face? I don't know. I am definitely someone who takes into consideration things I purchase, waste I create, and am actively thoughtful about how I contribute (or hopefully don't) to the declining health of our planet, but I hope that Garnier will work to find/develop a protective seal for this (and any of their other products sans seals) that is biodegradable and/or is made in a way that doesn't create more of a negative impact on the planet. Definitely does the trick, obviously if you put too much on a pad to rub your eyes it’s going to burn. All you need is about 5 drops, it’s been taking off all my makeup (I don’t really wear that much, Benefit mascara, tarte shape tape concealer and bare minerals wear powder). However depending on your makeup, certain mascaras that are either waterproof or long lasting it may be harder to get off. At that point you should just use a cleanser to gently rub your eyes to cleanse. All in all for my needs with the makeup I use, I’ve been enjoying this product. My skin is usually sensitive to new products and I haven’t had any breakouts or irritation since using this product for the last month.Justine

Honestly shocked to see so many positive reviews for this product. I bought this when the Bioderma brand I usually get was unavailable at my local Target, having heard good things about La Roche posay in the past. I was very confused and disappointed to smell a strong alcohol smell when I opened the bottle. Micellar water should not have any scent at all, as it’s water. The alcohol smell is unpleasant and the product feels much harsher than the sensitive skin bioderma micellar water. It also was not as effective in my opinion. Further, while it did remove makeup, I believe it has also caused my skin to break out a little, probably due to whatever fragrance is causing the alcohol smell. Definitely going back to bioderma and not even finishing 2/3 of the La Roche bottle.Smtxth

I love this micellar water. I have tried 2 other kinds: Garnier and the Target brand, both of which left an oily residue on my skin. I had originally been using Burts Bees, but wanted to try other brands due to how expensive it is in comparison. Burts Bees is definitely worth it. Burts bees makes my skin feel clean and fresh, and its so easy to use. I just pour some onto a wash cloth and wipe my face. I can literally see all the dirt that came off onto the washcloth (even without wearing makeup). It is expensive, but it is worth it for me, especially now knowing how the other brands stack up. I don’t know why, but Burts Bees doesn’t contain the oily substance that the other two brands I mentioned have. You can literally see the separation in the other micellar waters while Burts Bees has no separation. I have combination skin, so some of my skin is dry and some of it is oily and acne prone, which is why I like using micellar water as my cleanser. I use this every morning and night and it makes my skin feel so clean and refreshed without it being dry or itchy. I definitely recommend it if other cleansers aren’t feeling right for your skin.Liz

I am so in love with this product. it takes my makeup off so well and doesn’t leave any oil residue on my face afterwards. i knew this product was fantastic when i took my makeup off my face with a makeup wipe by Neutrogena. afterwards, i used a cotton pad and this cleansing water and there was still makeup left in my pores. it got it all out of my pores or most of it and my face has never felt better. i love this product so much. if i could rate this 6 stars i totally would.morgan255

I feel like I'm the only bad review but it has to be said. As a make up remover I love this stuff, however after using it for some time now I can only advise people not to purchase this if they have oily skin. Unlike the label, I don't feel like this is made for oily skin types at all as every single time I use this the following morning my face is so oily and greasy and it causes bad break outs. I used this nearly a fortnight ago and my skin is still suffering, this happens every single time so its one of the reasons I rarely wear make up now. I now own a bottle of this, and a bottle of the original Micellar water with the pink lid, I wanted to try both of them. I find that the garnier Micellar waters generally are the best on the market for removing make up without pushing to high end prices (I'd even pick these over the cult French pharmacy ones -naming no names…). I find this quickly and easily removes the bulk of my make up without irritation to my eyes and without stripping my skin. Unless I'm having a low maintenance make up day (ie powder blush and mascara only) I use this as a first cleanser before going in with my cream cleansers. I don't believe Micellar water should be used as your only cleansing step because it can't penetrate as deeply into the pores. That being said its a really amazing cleanser, especially for the cost. Despite having oily combination skin myself I'm not sure I'd necessarily choose this one over the pink one, I find my skin isn't really oily enough to need that Mattifying and clarifying element over and above what I already get from toners in my routine, but again it's lovely when I want to skip my toner and move straight onto other steps in my skincare. It certainly mattifies and reduces pores in line with the product claims, and maybe it's something more beneficial with slightly oiler skin types. I really love this cleanser, and love the fact it's fragrance free and is texturally very much like water just like these cleansers should be. Don't like the strongly fragranced ones. The huge bottle means it's the best value for money that you will find, and this is going to last me eons. I had initially had worries as the lid looks a touch flimsy but this hasn't been cause for concern. this product is definitely one of my holy grails. I loved the original one with the pink cap and didn't think I could love anything else more, but I was wrong! This is catered towards oiler or combination skin but I definitely think it is an improvement of the original micellar water. I found that the original one left a moistness to the skin which felt kind of grimey, and when removing makeup, you don't want what you're trying to remove sliding all over your face. This product dries much quicker, therefore more effective because it picks up more makeup residue. It doesn't leave my skin feeling dry or tight, and I'm not really oily, I just get an oily T-zone. I don't find it irritating or have noticed any breakouts because of it, which is why I love it and swear by it. It also is great value for money and will last you a long time, especially this particular one because you need even less product than you would need for the original because this is fast drying, more powerful, yet gentle and fragrance free. I have been looking for a new cleanser for my very sensitive skin since what I had been using for years was discontinued. I use the Isdin sunscreen so I thought I would try another Isdin product. The Micellar Facial Cleanser is amazing! It is easy to use, does not irritate my sensitive skin and my face feels like it is cleaner than it ever has been without feeling dry. Doesn't irritate the eye or the delicate skin around the eye area as I'm fairly sensitive. I use a little on two cotton pads and press gently against my eye area for less than 15 seconds and the makeup wipes clean away. 5/5 because this did exactly what I bought it for.. Effectively removed ALL makeup easily. Now on to the good stuff. I bought this when I needed a makeup remover in a hurry and decided to give this "micellar water" trend a try without really knowing what to expect. I used a napkin in a pinch and voila.. It worked and was MORE effective than any other makeup remover I've used (wipes, removers both high and low end, etc). It also did not dry out my face like they usually do but rather gave it a subtle softness and even a better tone which were both huge added yet unexpected bonuses. A few tips : apply a generous amount. Let it saturate the skin especially areas with more makeup. Use a separate saturated pad to wipe away. Don't scrub! Also, I used gauze when I ran out of cotton balls and now I will never go back. Gauze was like an even better secret find to use with this product. I recommend this for anyone but it's especially great for those with sensitive or dry skin.sihren.l

I was at the point of just washing with plain water but my daughter in law told me to give Olay products a try. I didnt think it was made for African American skin. I got what she suggested along with this wonderful water. I am sold on Olay and not turning bck. My skin feels silky and very soft. Thanks Olay for making products for all skin types. This Micerall Water is an advance tone perfecting cleanse that is suppose to help with evening out your skin tone. It also helps with removing makeup effortlessly. Olay Luminous Micerall Water leaves your skin feeling refreshed with a cool sensation. It's not harsh to the skin by drying it out, but instead it hydrates the skin. I've been using it for a week now and have seen improvement in my skin tone. I'm a huge fan of the Olay beauty brand and it would recommend this product. It cost about $6.99 at Walmart.tamika.v

I have been using this product for two days now and have been very satisfied with it. I like that it contains 78% naturally derived ingredients and is good on sensitive skin. I use this primarily to remove makeup at the end of the day before I wash my face. It leaves a smooth feeling (probably from the oil) and does not dry the skin. I have been using Lumene Finland Pure Arctic Miracle Cleansing water in the evenings to gently remove my makeup. You just put it on a cotton pad and wipe and it removes all your makeup. This stuff is amazing! I’ve yet to find a misceller water I liked until I found this one and I love it! Makes my skin feel clean without stripping it, face doesn’t feel tight or oily after using it. Removes my waterproof mascara without burning my eyes, non comedogenic and doesn’t break me out like others. I started out by using this typically anywhere from 2-3 times per additionally per day (aside from morning and night) just to remove oil from my skin like a toner and it works perfect for that! I have very oily skin and this has balanced my skin out and now I’m down to using it only once during the day and no product has ever been able to do that for my skin! For some reason it took me a long time to get on to this well-loved micellar water even though I've used different brands, and now I can see why it's such a hit. Like other miscellar waters, this cleanses without requiring rinsing. The formula is quite simple, which is great for sensitive skin. It is fragrance-free and has a skin-friendly pH of 5.5. To use, simply soak a cotton pad and swipe over face. This micellar water doesn't sting my eyes and doesn't irritate my skin in any way. It's effective in removing daily wear sunscreen and most make-up, doesn't strip and leaves my skin feeling comfortable and hydrated. Waterproof make-up requires a bit of work, so I still prefer to use oil-based cleansers on days I have heavier make-up on, to reduce the rubbing. Since it doesn't require rinsing, you could use it as a standalone cleanser. But because it's so gentle, you can still use a second wash-off cleanser if you wish. I also find this handy to use in the middle of the day if I want to start with a clean face before applying make-up. It's also handy (decantered) on overnight flights since you can clean your face in your seat without having to do everything in the cramped toilets.Fiona C.

I have used the green sebium version which I did not actually love. I was left with the impression that the green one was average and quite similar to cheaper drugstore micellar waters. But I was impressed with how comfortable and gentle the red sensibo H20 version is. It really gave me the soothing and fresh feeling. I wipe my face with it on cotton pad and every night and I feel that it effortlessly makes my face clean from dirt and makeup and I am ready for the next stage of cleansing. Most importantly, my skin is not stripped afterwards as most other micellar or regular cleansing waters I have tried made my skin drier. Also, I love that it comes with a nozzle dispenser that ensures no spills. So great for travelling especially if you have the smaller bottle. The only con for me is that it does not effectively clean the waterproof makeup, including my loreal double extend mascara. You have to press the soaked cotton pad on your eye and wait a few seconds for the mascara to come off easily, without rubbing. But that is not a problem for me. When reviewing over the products that were selected as the top winners for the Best In Beauty Skincare category, I could not believe that this item was not a chosen as a winning product! This product is, hands down, my new favorite skincare item to use in my everyday routine that not only removes makeup efficiently but also completely without leaving the pesky left over mascara on your lashes waterline. A few months back, I had made the decision to over-haul my skincare routine in finding products that contained less and/or zero of the well known harsh chemicals. At the time, I was just getting used to the Garnier Micellar Water but found that the product had been banned in other areas due to a few harsh chemicals that were inside of it. Due to having sensitive/acne prone skin, I was very hesitant to change due to being excited that I was able to find the Garnier product to work without causing irritation or breakouts on my skin, but, decided to branch out in seeing if there was another product just like Garnier to try in it's place. I had heard that many people were raving over the micellar water from Simple so I decided to pick it up on a whim while on a Target run to see if I noticed any difference. In all honesty, after using both the Garnier and Simple Micelllar Water products, I had found that they both provide the same exact results and worked exactly the same. In fact, the transition from using Garnier to Simple was very easy quick and didn't notice any difference in sensitivity to my skin! The only difference? Simple did not have the harsh chemicals that Garnier was storing within theirs! I was able to use the same number of cotton pads and the same amount of liquid within the bottles per each brand and receive the perfect results that I expect each time. Thus, if you are worried about changing brands from Garnier, I'd definitely recommend trying Simple! With that said, the product itself is WONDERFUL! I use this product anytime I am removing makeup right before I perform my morning nightly cleanse. If you have not tried using this product before using your cleanser, you are sorely missing out, as I've never felt like my cleansing products did anything until using a micellar water product before hand! It truly gets all of the dirt, oil, makeup, and any other pollution that has been placed on your face throughout the day leaving it clean, fresh, hydrated, and soft to really allow the cleanser to penetrate deep within the skin. There are no drying agents within this product that irritated my skin and it always feels refreshed and well nourished after each use. I suffer from rosacea and have found the tap water to be too drying and irritating for my condition. I use topical prescriptions morning and evening so need to cleanse twice a day while avoiding hard tap water. I love that unlike bioderma sensibo, this is even more hydrating to the skin with glycerin and panthenol. I’ve already noticed my condition improving! I received this product, Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, for free in exchange for a honest review. I was really excited to try this product from Garnier because I love the brand already and I thought this product sounded pretty fabulous. Washing my face is so important to me. No matter how tired I am or not feeling well, it has to be done. So this product to me is a game changer. I can use it anywhere. Not only is it convenient but it works really well. It has hyaluronic acid which is great for fine lines and wrinkles. It has aloe and that is really soothing on skin. It also removes makeup and that includes eyes and lips. I’ve been using it for about 10 days now. Super easy to use- I just applied it to my face and neck with some cotton balls and that’s it. I don’t necessarily see my skin looking "replumped”as that is mentioned on the products bottle. But that doesn’t change how I feel about it. I didn’t notice any scent to it. You don’t need much of this cleanser on your cotton ball either, a little goes a long way. You don’t have to rinse your face off after using it. I received Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water with Hyaluronic Acid + Aloe complimentary in exchange for my honest review. I typically use Bioderma micellar water with a reusable cotton round to remove my make up so I was very interested in trying this Garnier micellar water due to it being almost half the price per ounce. This micellar water removed my makeup without irritating my sensitive skin. It is very comparable to Bioderma except Bioderma seems to work slightly better on heavier makeup days with liquid eyeliner and mascara. Overall, I will be using Garnier daily in place of my usual micellar water because the price can’t be beat but I will be using something slightly stronger on heavier makeup days.amber_nc_hjsd7

I’ve got a free bottle of SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water with Hyaluronic Acid + Aloe by Garnier from PINCHme to write an honest review. Even tho a micellar water seems to be a simple product, it may be problematic to find good one. I had my doubts about this product before using, so I was surprised in a good way after. The cleanser makes its work perfectly, exactly how it says on the bottle – removes makeup without any harsh rubbing and very quick. It didn’t irritate my eyes at all and I didn’t feel that I need to rinse it out with water after using. I can’t say if it gives you a feeling of replumped skin, but this is not why I use micellar water. Definitely recommend.inna_fl_jn4ty

I have acneic skin that is extra sensitive due to medications/products and this micellar water doesn't irritate, burn or bother my skin (nor my eyes) which is nice. It removes my mascara and makeup well (if it isn't heavy duty waterproof), but I would always do a double cleanse if you're wearing makeup. My skin does not feel dry or tight after I use this, even if I don't rinse it off (not necessary) or if I don't apply moisturizer. It does have fragrance (they should remove this ingredient since it is a product for sensitive skin). I will repurchase in the future.Klae

I received a sample sized version of this product from Sephora. This Chanel micellar water works exactly the same as the micellar water I've been using for years, which is made by Garnier. Since this product is about 6x the price as the drugstore version, I wish I could say it works better – but it does not. It does the same thing as the more affordable options. So, if you can afford this one made by Chanel- great! But if you can't- don't worry- it works exactly the same as the cheap products.danielle.a

First and foremost: it BURNS my eyes. Neutrogena's sunscreens irritate my eyes (especially since I wear contacts) but now their melting cleanser that I was using in hopes of breaking down the sunscreen in a double cleanse routine BURNED my eyes. I want any facial cleanser I use to be able to break down makeup, sunscreen, waterproof mascara – and many K- & J-Beauty products do that with no harm to me. As usual, when the West tried to replicate this concept, they fail and fail hard. Not only is the formula thinner than most makeup "melts", the second I got it near my eyes, I couldn't open them, the burn was so awful. It was different than what happens when I get their sunscreen in my eyes. That hurts, but I can usually keep my eyes open. I was blindly reaching on my counter top for a pump dispenser. Ended washing my face with hand soap but it still didn't stop the stinging. I had to take out my contacts and not wear them for the rest of the day. I was able to calm the burn with a saline eye bath, Vaseline to wipe away any more irritant, and then eye drops. I don't understand how this is allowed to remain on the market.AstridVue

Read and follow instructions and you will love it! Leaves your skin soft, feeling hydrated. Smells so fresh and clean. I wash my face with my regular cleanser followed by toner and my skin feels amazing when I'm finished. Taking my makeup off doesn't seem like a shore anymore lol. Some tips: -Use a cotton pad to remove heavy/waterproof make up. (Might have to do this 2x if you are wearing a lot/waterproof makeup) -start with small nickel/quarter size amounts of product, work in sections. It's very creamy but as soon as you start rubbing it it turns very very liquid(runny). Working with small amounts of product in sections helps you control and not waste product. -once you have applied(rubbed) product all over your face wash it off (cold or warm water, I honestly have done both and it works great either way). ***If you have specially long-wearing/ foundation/ eye makeup or if you are wearing A LOT of make up (thick layers of foundation or a lot of/waterproof mascara/eyeliner) you might need to repeat process at least once more to get all the makeup completely off. -definitely wash your face with a cleanser after to make sure your face is 100% clear of all makeup.Dallas Girl

So the instructions say to massage into dry skin & either wipe away OR rinse with water. This is a product that definitely works best when it's rinsed off. It's really no different from how a cleansing oil or balm works (like Neutrogena light cleansing oil, Clinique take the day off or Physician's Formula perfect matcha 3in1 cleansing balm). All of those are applied to dry skin, massaged in & rinsed off & they work great at getting even stubborn waterproof mascara off. So I'm not sure why the instructions would say to wipe the product off because without rinsing the product off w/water, it doesn't work well in my opinion. Unless you intend to use a regular cleanser afterwards. But I happen to like all the products mentioned, including this one because they remove ALL of the makeup & I wear waterproof eyeliner & mascara every day. I may use a regular cleanser afterwards but that's only if I'm removing more makeup than usual or if I'm getting ready to use a mask. But in most cases, for everyday double cleansing isn't necessary, this one product is enough. It seems highly fragranced; my skin was very red and seemed to look more coarse after use. I don't look for lasting effects from something that's designed to clean my skin. However, I do find that it doesn't dehydrate, strip, or disturb the acid mantle of my skin, and that's really all I require beyond getting my skin clean. I like them both very much but do think this feels more hydrating on my older skin. It certainly removes my make up and I use it round my eyes with no problems at all. Last weekend 5 members of my family had full on face painting done and although I had to use nearly half my bottle it removed everything on faces from age 6 to 78! This micellar water is very gentle with no fragrance so it would work well for sensitive skin. I use it to remove light make up for daily like sunscreen and powder. It wouldn’t remove full make up nor mascara/eyeshadow. This bottle would last me forever. Nothing is too impressive so I don’t think I would buy it again. So 7.5/10tracy.l

I like to do a FULL face of concealer and foundation some days, other days I layer on multiple coats of mascara, go hard with the bronzer and highlight, or apply falsies and a ton of lash glue. I change it up a lot but REGARDLESS of the type and amount of product I apply this micellar water gently and effectively removes it. I drench a couple cotton rounds in this micellar water and wipe all over my face, around my eyelids and over my lashes with ZERO irritation whatsoever, and I have very sensitive, redness prone skin. The price is great, you get a lot of product for what you pay for, and this micellar water gets the job done every time without irritation or redness. For these reasons this is my holy grail micellar water and I will continue to repurchase. PLUS they sell the mini size at the drugstore which is perfect for travelling. Bonus: the lid doesn’t leak when travelling so you can throw in your bag and go. I’ve tried many other “all-in-one” or “safe for sensitive skin” micellar waters at the drug store and even from Sephora and none worked as well as this one for me personally, and they usually made my eyelids and under eye area burn. Face: I get paranoid about removing every last bit of makeup off my face because I don’t want to break out. I use this after washing makeup off with an oil cleanser and it catches everything I missed. My combo skin feels clean, non-irritated, with zero drying effect. Sometimes if I’m lazy I’ll use this alone in the AM and there’s no residue feeling on my face once it dries. I wake up pretty oily and sensitive after having used retinol or lactic acid products overnight and it does the job with no added irritation! Eye/Lashes: It doesn’t sting my eyes, takes off mascara, removed my strip lashes if I soak a cotton pad and hold it for a bit.
