20 Best Mielle Products For 4C Hair (Feb 2023 Update)

I was a bit skeptical because i saw a lot of people with much more textured and thick hair saying that it didn’t work well for them for one reason or another. I have 2B hair that has suffered a lot of damage due to using heat & breakage from brushing with the wrong brush. Anyway i love the rosemary and mint oil from this company so i went ahead and got this product. my hair loves it, it leaves my hair looking really shiny and healthy even after straightening. (hair is straightened in photo) my hair looks soooo silky when i dont use heat and let it air dry with this product. My hair doesnt clump up either with this stuff either. In the past ive used other products that clump my hair up and make it all crunchy but not this stuff. The smell is immaculate too!!!! It smells so good that one of my friends said i smell good and he is so weird about scents and things like that. this stuff is already an essential in my hair product supplies and i would really recommend giving this brands products a try if you need some moisture for your hair!Momokuma

Very badly packaged! Purchased this product with ten other products when everything was $6.99 (I believe it was a Black Friday special). EVERYTHING was damaged!! All ten of the products were thrown in a box with nothing securing them! Well, you can imagine what happened when going through the shipping process. a couple of the products were bursted open which caused all of the products to be greasy and sticky when they arrived to me. Extremely messy! I was highly disappointed but didn’t want to go through the trouble or sending them back. I just use what’s left in the containers after the spillage.smh… I would love to give this product five stars, but after I received my package with ten products just thrown in one box with no wrapping to protect the items, that’s hard to do. I really love the scent! So sweet with a hint of fruit but not overpowering. I have 3B curly hair and use it for CGM (curly girl method) styling. The product is nice to use on wet hair, makes it softer and easier to manage, it's also good to refresh your curls the next day after washing your hair (I make my hair slightly wet, and use it). I recommend applying some styling gel on top. Never made my hair greasy. As you only need a small amount, this bottle will last for a long time, years, if your hair is short or medium length. I’ve have now used this styling gel for 3 separate wash n go combinations and I LOVE it. It’s not tacky/sticky and gives moisture, deep definition, and HOLD! For Type 4 curl girls, using this gel in combo with the Pom and honey coiling custard is a dynamic duo! I’ve been looking for a solid gel from Mielle for my hair type and this one takes the cake! Here lately I’ve had an issue with flaking when using my wetline xtreme gel for hold. This gel has replaced that one in my routine as I’ve had NO FLAKING when used with the custard or other clear/light-color styling products. This product is AMAZING! A little goes a long way. My hair is to the middle of my back, and I’ve been using the same bottle for almost a year now. Mostly on my edged and ends bc they tend to dry out the fastest between washes. I can use it to rehydrate a wash and go or revive my hair while its straightened. I love this leave in soooo much. I tried bleaching box dye out of my hair and I really damaged it and I need help getting my hair to feel soft again and this did that for me. The only con is that a little goes along way. This product should be discontinued by the smell alone. The product itself seems to he ok for hair. The one and only time I used it, it did make my hair feel a lot more moisturized. But the smell…TERRIBLE!! It smelled so bad but despite the smell, I still tried it in hopes that it would go away. Well this made me sick. Trigggered migraines that lasted days. Worst of all, several washes later, the horrible smell would not go away. I really like using these products and how my hair feels after using them. I ordered the whole set during the flash sale and when I received the products the shampoo, conditioning spray, and the conditioner weren't closed properly so most of the product was in the bottom of the box. I sent an email about the issue but I received another email for a link that doesn't work to open a ticket. No one has reached out to me and I have been sent the same link twice. My previous order the pumps on the bottles were broken. I just chalked that up to shipping but when the products are sent to you already opened, that's a whole other issue.Marcia W.

This is one of my top five shampoos for people who have a four c hair texture! The smell is amazing. It definitely gives off hints of pomegranate and honey which is the perfect snow combination. It provides a thick rich and full leather without having to use 17 pumps of shampoo. I Projects like that mielle products are parabens and sulfates paraffins and mineral oil all free. I will be the first to say that being that I have for sea hair this is not a detangling product. Moisturizing absolutely. Cleaning your hair it also removes all the impurities. I was a little disappointed when I received my black Friday package from Mielle. I have ordered before and have been pleased but this time it was like everything was thrown in a box and shipped. The box was so beat up its like the products could have came out and almost would have im certain had it been tossed around any more and I know that part wasn't so much their fault but I figured it would have been put into another box to ship to prevent that problem. The products had no confetti at least to soften how its thrown around everything was so greasy i thought for sure a product or 3 were leaking and also nothing was wrapped at least in bubble wrap considering how it was boxed up. Literally just thrown in the box any kind of way. I purchased a large amount of products hoping I would have found the the Holy grail for my 4c hair. I bought the entire line and only used the products from the line for my wash day and to moisturize and twist my hair. Unfortunately, after several failed attempts, the product caused flakes in my hair every time. I tried using less and less product and the same thing happened. First time purchasing product Fri 9/3/21. I have 4a/4b coily curly hair and my ends constantly statues dry no matter how much I applied hair products to my ends to keep them moisturized. I read a lot of reviews from other 4 type natural hair and decided to try. I’m very very happy with this products. It left my hair especially my ends super soft while defining my curls. I have been through so many hair products claiming to be a moisturizer and maybe they are but my hair didn’t take to them. I have heat damaged hair as you can see from the color on down. I’m still learning how to care for my natural curls and this product worked great. On wet hair the ginger smell is strong and the hair (damaged parts) were crunchy. My roots were nice and soft. My favorite this about this gel is how soft it makes my hair. It's very hydrating and conditioning to the hair, every time I use this my curls are very soft and bouncy. I have mixed it with several other leave in conditioners and creams, both from the same brand and from other brands, and I have found it mixes well with a few different products. It doesn't mix with everything, test it in your hands first, but I found a few good combos with this gel. It also gives my hair good shine, I really loved that. My wash n go's always lasted a few days with this gel. I wish it had a little more hold, I'd say this is like medium hold. It didn't give a strong cast, which may or may not be a good thing depending on your preference. Even without strong hold, it's still a great and dependable gel. It is a lighter gel, almost a cream gel, I like the consistency. I like the smell too, reminds me of ginger ale haha. Overall, it's a great gel with beneficial ingredients.Kathi N.

The Mielle Babassu Brazilian Curly Cocktail Curl Cream and Curl Mousse that I received has an awful smell. They have a loud musty scent with a hint of citrus. The products work well, but the awful smell is overwhelming and it lingers (my freshly washed hair smells musty after using this cocktail). I’m not certain if this is a bad batch or if this is how it smells (I have nothing to compare it with) due to buying it online. All I know is the scent is unbearable and it can’t be masked. I followed up with the Mielle Mint Almond Oil which has a Nice mint scent, but the mint almond oil could not overpower the musty scent from the Mielle Babassu Brazilian Curly Cocktail Curl Cream and Curl Mousse. Unfortunately, I will not be able to continue to use the Mielle Babassu Brazilian Curly Cocktail Curl Cream and Curl Mousse due to the musty scent.Tawana T.

Finally, after several products and much money, I’ve found a product that I like. I cut my long hair off at the beginning of 2021, and I intend to keep it short(ish). I have 3B/3C, wavy, low porosity hair. I do love a mousse for me wash and go, and this product adds a good deal of moisture without the “crunchy” feeling or cast from the hold. I absolutely love the results of using this product. I ordered this along with the Brazilian curling mousse. The product kept my curls soft and bouncy, but the smell is very offensive in my opinion. I hate the scent. It’s a cross between a citrus scent and menthol. My hubby hates the scent as well. I’m going to try to concoct a method that fixes this issue, but it’s possible I may be throwing the product away. I just can’t tolerate the smell. This oil is amazing. It truly promotes growth from the scalp and fortifies the hair against breakage. In conjunction with the Brazilian foam, this works wonders for my curls. It doesn’t take much application. It also doesn’t make my hair feel dry. This curl cream was one of my first purchases from Mielle! I was very excited to use it, it actually worked great for my curly hair at first. My hair actually started growing out thicker. I was also using the avocado moisturizer with this curl cream. Unfortunately, I noticed that with or without the moisturizer, my hair still looked like dry curls! This is my favorite curl cream from their collection and keeps my hair looking amazing for like 3 days after I initially applied it. I usually use gel after curl cream but with this product I don’t have to. My hair texture is 3C and I recommend this if you have the same hair type. I have been using Mielle products for a year now and love all the products I use including the hydrating spray. However, this is the first time I ordered from Mielle directly and I had a terrible experience. First, they forgot to include the spray in my original order. Then when I emailed them about it, they sent out another bottle but did not tighten the top before packing it. I have thoroughly been enjoying Mielle's products since my first proper introduction to them about 3 months ago. I heard about Mielle while I was wearing locs. So I really didn't pay attention to this company because I wasn't apart of their customer demographic. Most of 2020, I was battling cancer and lost all of my hair. Yes, Im free of it now and actually have some hair on my head again. I was spoiled with 3 years of get up and go hair. I literally owned one bottle of shampoo, retightened my roots 2 to 3 times a year and my anthem was, "I woke up like this." So dealing with loose hair felt foreign to me. More so than it feeling foreign were the PTSD flash backs of me trying to style my loose natural hair. I admit it, in the past I wasn't as accepting of my natural curl pattern. I wanted big 3b curls while God blessed me with 4a/c curls. So the thought of going back to wet sets, twist outs and tons of heavy gel scared me. What impresses me the most with Mielle's products, including this Curl Defining Mousse w/ Hold, is that it is so easy to style my hair. You would think I could just slap anything into my short 3c/4a hair (chemo curls) and it look good. Noooo, this theory was quickly disproven especially when trying other brands. I picked up a sample packet of the Curl Defining Custard at the local Dollar General and I was hooked ever since. Although, The Curl Defining Custard is perfect as is with the shine, definition and hold, I still felt it wasn't soft enough as I wanted. When the bulk of Covid is over, I want hands running through my hair. 😉 LOL It was suggested by Mielle staff to try the Brazilian Curly Cocktail Curl Cream under it. Yes, my hair was still shiny and defined and now it was soft. That combo made my hair super curly also. Its just that my hair took forever to dry and it was a lot of effort to put through my hair. That leads me to this Curl Defining Mousse w/Hold. O-M-G, this is truly wash and go hair with this product. I just run in through sections and I'm done. It dries clear and without flakes. My hair doesn't even have to be soaking wet. It almost looks like I wet set my hair on perm rods. It has the shine of setting lotion and the soft feel too. But my hair has hold and bounce. I just stocked up on this product because I haven't seen it in stores yet and this current price is looking really good. With products like these I don't think I want to go back to wearing locs. In addition to how well the products work, can we talk about the packaging. There are pumps for most of Mielle's products and you can easily lock them closed. Amazing!Dany J.

I love this product🙌🏽🥰. The journey for finding the right natural hair products has been a challenge, but I can truly say this product does its job. It works, I did a Aztec with Apple cider vinegar clay mask. After washing it out I added the rice water drops with Mielle Babassu & Mint deep conditioner. I then followed it up with Rosemary Strengthening Shampoo, and added the White Peony Leave in Conditioner. I selection my hair in four twisted it up and slept in a satin cap. The next morning I reapplied water with mist water bottle, the pomegranate/honey defining mousse added two other gels that’s not in the Mielle collection to get my curl define look. I say all this to say even though I substitute other products in, over all the main products were Mielle. During my last wash I used the co-wash. I enjoyed how it softened my hair. I have 3b-4a curls which are pretty fine in texture. My hair felt clean enough where I didn’t feel the need to follow up wash with shampoo. After conditioning I used the Mielle Pomade to oil and my hair has been moisturized for days. I honestly don’t recall a loud smell from the co-wash. I do prefer more of a smell. But it still did what it was supposed to do. I didn't even know what a co-wash was until I found it on this website. I read it could be used between washes (and I needed something other than astringent) so I gave it a shot hoping for the best. Wish I could have given this a higher rating. I was so excited to use this product along with the shampoo since they both had good reviews with very little bad ones. So I buy them and use them leaving the hair oil on for the directed time then used the shampoo and other conditioner I have. After washing my hair it still looked really oily like I hadn’t washed it for days. I didn’t think much of it but a day or two after the first use I started getting little bumps on my forehead and side of my face on both sides that were itchy and started getting dandruff. I put aloe on the little bumps that helped with the itchiness, I still didn’t think nothing of it so I use the oil again and used a dandruff shampoo to wash it out but felt the symptoms worsen. That’s when I realized I’m having a bad reaction to the product and washed it out again with a different shampoo and went to get Benadryl. I looked more at the reviews and seen a few people had the same experience as I did. Still dealing with the symptoms as it just happens last week. Would have given it zero stars if I could! Have been using this product for a few weeks in hopes of it thickening up my edges. My hair has mostly been in protective styles and wanted to work on strengthening it. I noticed how the back of my neck would burn a bit/ itch after about 5-10 minutes from applying. However, I continued to use it as I thought it may just be my scalp adjusting to the mint and rosemary. Because eventually the burning stopped. I struggled mostly with the nape of my hair from ponytails, so that is where I focused on applying the oil. Over the next few days into week, I noticed the nape of my hair thinning tremendously! It has eventually turned into an enlarged baldness area. I also broke out with very painful rash like dry patches along my neck. I am furious!!!! But more so embarrassed and extremely sadden at the damage it has caused. Since this has been the only change to the products I have been using on the last 5 years of being natural. Hoping it can be treated and restored. I also googled this product and see many other costumers have shared very similar experiences of a burning sensation and hair loss. I started experiencing hair loss in 2020 and trust me, I tried EVERYTHING. This rosemary line, especially this scalp oil, and pumpkin seed oil supplements are what saved my hair and now it’s as thick and healthy as when I was a teenager. I don’t find this oil too heavy, and as long as I’m careful with it I can use it without getting my hair super oily. The night before a hair wash I will put extra on, work it into the scalp, and sleep with a cap on to let it all soak in. I used to deal with dry scalp and this totally fixed that issue as well. It’s super hydrating, and feels stimulating and refreshing. I used to use minoxidil but I hated that as soon as I stopped using it for one day the hair would just fall out again! Plus it made my scalp itchy. This is a drug free option that actually works. The shampoo and hair mask from this line are also excellent.Jo

This is my second product from Mielle: I bought the hair growth oil before and I’m still using it with good results in terms of greater hair density and thickness. So I decided to try their strengthening mask and I like it so much! It’s creamy and has a light mint scent which is really pleasant for me. It leaves my curly, natural, long hair soft, shiny, nourished and overall more beautiful and easy to style. I use the mask on shampooed hair and leave it on for 30 minutes with a shower cup to promote the absorption of the natural ingredients in the shaft. My hair is 3a/3c with medium porosity and density. I could not recommend this product enough!!!! It's amazing. Sometimes I use it instead of conditioner and it hydrates your hair, makes it shiny, no more dry ugly ends, is easy to detangle when brushing it and smells great. You can also use it on your roots as it does not weigh your hair down. My hair is long and very straight naturally but based on other reviews, I've noticed that it works on a lot of different hair types. If you're not sure what to use, you should definitely try this hair masque. 12/10 ^_^Cod

I've never been able to use a hair masque because usually they are too heavy or oddly drying. Even picking a conditioner can be tricky. But this masque is really great. My daughter loves it, too. I have fine, wavy-curly low porosity hair. Since less is usually more with my hair, and also since I do always have much time, I use a small dollop and only leave in for 2-5 minutes. For me that's plenty to still get benefits. My hair is soft and curls are more defined with more shine. It feels healing for my hair. I like the scent since I prefer more herbal smells than perfumes. I purchased this item from the reviews I read about the hold it gave to edges. I was looking for something for my locs that would not make my hair brittle, white, etc. I dont find this product to produce those affects, but it does not hold my edges. I don't make it out the door in the morning without them rising, and I have soft fine hair. I've tried to add water first, then the product. No water, and just the product, adding a wrap for a few minutes while I dress without great results for the entire day. I like the smell of it however, that's a plus. Perhaps I'll look into a super hold next instead.La H.

I like that it doesn't leave a white residue behind once used. I'm natural with locs so sometimes I want my edges laid down. Out of most products I have tried this gave me some hope I could find a natural holding gel. It's not long lasting so I give it a 3.8. Let me start off with I haven't found and edge gel that ever works pass 2 hours. This one is no different and I've tried alotttt of brands so maybe its my hair, the way I sweat of the way I apply it. initial my edges was LAID I just knew it would last all day but nope to hrs later it was just grease. its has to be me NO brand works for me. This is a great leave in! definently detangles, however, I wouldn't use this on its own. I have to use a ton of water ,but it does what is says. Not for thicker hair types. If you have a lot of hair, you will run out of this product. I have type 4a mid length hair , but, I dont have a thick hair density. Therefore it works great! I really like this leave in for me 3a/3b hair. It makes my hair so soft and manageable. Just spray in right after a shower and I can see the results the next day. I have struggled for years to find the right product that my hair would love. I recently discovered I have medium to low porosity hair, that was a game changer for me. With that information I am now able to order the right product for my hair and Mielle fits the bill. My hair loves this line of hair care. This butter leaves my hair super moisturized, soft and bouncy. I love it. My hair stays hydrated for the entire week with one application, placed in a protective style then tied with a silk cloth. I bought this gel almost a year ago. I just started recently using it since I've cut my hair 3 weeks ago. It's in a pixie cut. This gel has helped with the wet and wavy look as my hair is cut low in the back and sides. I am still getting the hang of .3 curling iron. Hello! I usually use a combination of Mielle products for my granddaughter but this time I decided on Moisture RX products only due to being the change of seasons and her hair being a little more dry than normal. She is 13 and often styles her own hair and wants that , "moisturized", look as she says for her twist-outs etc. She is very happy as am I with the results especially trying the overnight conditioner for the first time. Since the Pandemic started, my hair has been looking less than satisfying. I stumbled upon this leave-in conditioner, and after using it for the last few weeks my hair has completely transformed! It has gone back to my original curl pattern (more of an S wave) I actually thought I had lost my curl pattern. My hair is now soft, the curls are extremely well defined, moisturized and shiny. I also have much less shedding when I wash my hair in the shower. I am so glad that I purchased this product. This was exactly what my hair needed!!! Let me start by saying I am a big loyal customer of Mielle. But since I opened the bottle I disliked the smell 😩. It reminded me of ocean scented aromatics, febrezze, soaps, etc . I use the babassu shampoo , I got this for my husband , well I tried it today and I was please with the results it cleaned my hair wonderfully and the smell toned down in the shower, I did picked up some sweet aromas. If you don’t have allergies to perfumes or scents or strong scents don’t bother you, than this line is a 5 star but for a nose like mine is a 4 . The deep conditioner and leave in gave me so much volume , clean feel, defined light curls, but the smell of the leave in has already given me a headache. Maybe tone it down with the fragrance ? I am going to stick to my babassu line ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Much love to Mielle for always shining with the products.Suri

This shampoo along with the conditioner is my favorite Mielle products! It cleans my hair from all the dirt and OMG the smell 🥰 is the best! When I use it everyone comments on how good my hair smells! I have noticed that since using this shampoo, my hair has stopped shedding, and that alone makes this shampoo worth every single penny! You only need a small amount with each use, it lathers well and it makes your scalp feel so good! My boyfriend loves the smell too! I statutes using it on his hair too! Oh my God! I love this shampoo. It smells lovely, not fake perfume like, just a light nice smell. It really leathers up, leaves my hair and scalp clean without drying out my hair. I have hip length, dry, wavy hair, so it needs extra TLC. I have tried so many different brands and there is always something that ends up being a deal breaker. This one? It's perfect. The price is fantastic as well. I definitely recommend it for anyone with dry or damaged hair.rebecca.w
